Since Raya is coming up I thought I'd try and make mini headcannon series of Ldf au.

Part 1, In another world

Aliya binti Baharom died almost a decade ago.

Boboiboy still remembers the day it happened. It was almost a week after Raya, everyone was still in a festive mood, getting ready to go to open houses and stuff themselves with all the delicious food. Aunty Aliya (She let him call her Aunty Liya for short) and Uncle Zali were supposed to come for dinner that weekend. They would bring Ali, which Bbb was super excited for, he got all his toys and found a cd (feeling old that this was so long ago they still used cds? 🤣) for Shrek so they could watch it while their parents were having coffee and talking about super Boring Adult Stuff.

Mechabot would say that his dad was too silly to talk about Boring Adult Stuff like taxes, or the government. And then they'd fight while his mom and the other adults would roll their eyes with the kind of fondness that comes from being friends with someone that long. Bbb hopes he'll have that someday.

Mechabot woke him up at 7, like always, (if only he knew how not normal the day, hell the next few years would be) throwing open his bedroom door and on-ning the light, only to be met by his tired groan. Uncle Mimi shooed him to the bathroom while putting his school uniform on the bed before leaving, because he's a big boy now that he's in first grade so he can dress himself, to help (distract) his parents with breakfast.

After going through his normal morning routine, and spending a few minutes struggling with his tie. Boboiboy walked down the stairs to the kitchen.

"Hey, guys-," it's after this part when he starts feeling like these aren't his memories, like he’s watching some movie or TV show, and not remembering what was one of the worst days of his life. Yaya would call it his brain protecting himself. She's right.

Anyway, it's all quite blurry after he stepped into the kitchen, like photos that got caught in the rain, the figures looking smugged and uneven but you can still see like the general shapes and colours.

He can’t remember what they told him, he can’t remember them saying the words "Aunty Liya is dead," even if that's what they would probably tell him, with more tact. He can't even really remember what happened after.

He just remembers his mom's tear stained face, her ruffled appearance and disheveled pajamas and hair. His mom always seemed so strong and steady, bbb remembers how it threw him seeing her so.... destroyed, broken even.

Seeing his dad somehow threw him more, his normally smilling face, was stoic, emotionless even, he would've thought his dad was sleeping with his eyes open, if it weren't for the pain in his eyes, the eyes bbb inherited.

He probably asked what was wrong, they probably told him. He can't (or maybe won't) remember.

How ironic he can't remember what they told him but what he felt?

Like a jinn stole all the air from his lungs, like someone ripped his heart from his chest and shattered it into a million pieces, like everything was too loud and too quiet.

Like he felt everything and nothing at the same time.

He was hugged, he remembers, the familiar feeling of arms wrapping around him, and muffled assurances that weren't really true. How could they be when Aunty Liya was dead.

When Ali mom, his favourite person in the world, his Mom best friend, and sister in all but blood, when his dad's teasing, smilling sister, when the love of Uncle Zali life, when his Aunt...

Was dead...

And never, ever coming back.
