TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANTS
Greetings, everyone, our contestants have been finalized, and I want to provide a certain opportunity before the preliminaries begin. Namely, to provide additional propaganda for competitors in need of it. So, I have created a form to collect this new propaganda, and a list of both preliminary and non-preliminary participants under the cut. An asterisk next to a name indicates they have fewer than three pieces of propaganda, which is the amount that will be included in each poll. This form will be open for the duration of the tournament. You can make as many submissions you want for any character.
NOTE: The order of participants does not reflect the bracket matchups. Preliminary matchups will be announced next week, and the complete bracket will be announced after the preliminary round is finished.
UPDATE: Additional characters have been added in bold because I failed to fill out the bracket by counting incorrectly. One has been added to the preliminary round, and the others are regular competitors.

Calling all Film and TV Junkies, the South Pacific is waiting for its close-up
Have you ever watched a movie and thought WOW I wonder where that was filmed? Or how nice would it be to holiday there? Well, look no further than the South Pacific. Due to stunning landscapes to picturesque islands and turquoise waters, the South Pacific Islands have been a popular location for many film productions and reality TV shows.
Cast Away (2000): Starring Tom Hanks, probably the most well-known of all films filmed in Fiji, used Monuriki Island, part of the Mamanuca Islands. Even though it has been a while since Tom and Wilson left the island, you can still head out to Monuriki Island for the day. This tiny island, only 1km long and 600mtrs wide is uninhabited and surrounded by coral reef. Spend your day snorkelling or wander through the forest where you might catch a glimpse of the endangered Fiji Crested Iguana. Just remember — don’t miss the boat home as you don’t want to get shipwrecked!!
The Blue Lagoon (1980): A classic romance film (and provocative for its time) featuring Brooke Shields, was partially filmed in the Yasawa Islands of Fiji. You may not find Brooke Shields here today but the island and stunning waters can still be seen in all its glory.
Anaconda (1997): Parts of this adventure horror film, starring Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube, were shot in the Navua River in Fiji. Never fear because today as you venture out through some of the country’s most formidable and beautiful terrain you don’t need to worry about Anaconda’s. Instead, enjoy the adrenaline rush as you raft or River Tube through the river canyons of Viti Lev.
The Bounty (1984): This historical drama film, featuring Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins, used the waters around Fiji as one of its filming locations.
Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) starring Marlon Brando and The Bounty (1984) with Mel Gibson, were both partially filmed in Tahiti. The island’s lush and tropical scenery provided a beautiful backdrop for the movie.
Rapa Nui (1994): This movie showcases the ancient Polynesian culture and was shot in various South Pacific locations, including Tahiti. When visiting The Islands of Tahiti, a cultural show or tour of a local village is a must.
Avatar (2009): Whilst Avatar is not a live-action film it was inspired by the stunning location of Bora Bora. Director James Cameron was on a tour in Bora Bora’s Valley of the Kings when he heard about the legends of Tahitians growing their hair long and connecting it to the roots of banyan trees. This of course became the basis for the film. Today visitors can join hiking tours in the valley to see ancient temples and sit beside some of the oldest banyan trees on the island.
Couples Retreat (2009): A rom-com staring Vince Vaughn and Kristen Bell was filmed in and around Bora Bora with most of the resort scenes at St Regis Bora Bora
Reality TV
Reality TV has brought us many interesting characters and has been filmed in some of the most stunning and remote areas in the South Pacific. The most famous of these is Survivor. The best part of visiting today is that you don’t have to find or cook your own food, fight for survival or rough it on the ground, as you stay in 3–5 star properties, eat at restaurants that offer amazing local foods cooked by international chefs, all whilst enjoying the surrounds of your favourite shows.
Marquesas Islands — French Polynesia. Nuku Hiva presented contestants with a challenging, remote setting and was the first time it was shot outside of the USA.
Shefa — Vanuatu. This season was made more interesting when they experienced an earthquake during filming
Aitutaki — Cook Islands. The tribal camps were based on motus in the Aitutaki Lagoon with most of the challenges filmed on One Foot Island.
Vanua Levu — Fiji. Many remote islands and villages were used in this season with the reward getaways being held at Namale Resort and Jean Michel Cousteau Resort.
Mamanuca Islands — Fiji. It’s easy to see why these islands were used in the filming of so many seasons, offering so much variety in the volcanic islands, lush rainforest, sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters. Mana Island is where most of the challenges took place and is a great spot for Survivor geeks to visit.
Upolo — Samoa. If you stay at Return to Paradise and you have a sense of de-ja vu, then maybe you’ve seen some of the stunning beaches used for the challenges.
If you would like to follow in the footsteps of your favourite movie or TV star, then contact our team today at Spacifica Travel on 1800 800 722.

Roku released its list of the top-searched movies, TV series, actors and actresses in 2023 on its devices — compiled from more than 1.2 billion total searches in the U.S.
Boinging into the top spot: “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which beat out every other movie and TV series as the No. 1 most-searched title on Roku in America for the year. (See full top 10 lists below.) The Universal movie, featuring Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, banked $1.36 billion worldwide at the box office to become the second-biggest animated movie of all time (after “Frozen II”).
Following “Super Mario Bros.” on Roku’s list of top-searched movies in 2023 were “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “M3GAN” and “The Little Mermaid.” Note that two of the biggest theatrical releases of the year — “Barbie” ($1.44 billion in worldwide box office) and “Oppenheimer” ($952 million) — are not on Roku’s top 10 movie searches. Both came to digital relatively recently: “Barbie” began streaming on Max on Dec. 15 (after releasing on digital rental/purchase platforms Sept. 12) and “Oppenheimer” hit digital on Nov. 21.
The reigning champs of TV searches on Roku devices in the U.S. were “Yellowstone” (No. 1) and “SpongeBob SquarePants” (No. 2), followed by “PAW Patrol,” “South Park” and “Bluey.”
Melissa McCarthy was Roku’s most-searched actress of 2023 in the U.S., with searches for her spiking at the end of November with the Nov. 22 release of her holiday-themed Peacock original movie “Genie.” The top-searched actor of the year was Adam Sandler, star of Netflix’s “Murder Mystery 2”; Roku said searches for Sandler spiked in early April following the movie’s March 31 premiere date.
Unexpectedly, the No. 2 most-search-for actor on Roku devices this year was John Wayne, while on the actress list Doris Day landed in the No. 6 spot. Another anachronism: “Gunsmoke,” which aired on TV from 1955-1975, was the eighth most-searched series.

Why Ben Affleck Must Wipe His Hands Clean of the DCU If He Truly Wants to Return to the Glory Days of Argo
By : Jamie Williams
March 1, 2023
“And it doesn’t matter, uh, how you get knocked down in life. Because that’s gonna happen. All that matters is that you gotta get up. Violet, Sam, and Sara, I love you! This is for you!”
That was Ben Affleck, holding back tears, as he accepted the Academy Award for Best Picture for Argo a decade ago on Feb. 24, 2013 — a night that capped off the single-greatest career comeback in Hollywood history.
A decade before that, Affleck was the butt of jokes across the industry, thanks single-handedly to Gigli and the fallout stemming from that infamous 2003 bomb, which basically killed his planned marriage to Jennifer Lopez (don’t worry, it ended up working out for them 20 years later) and nearly killed his career.
That period marked a low point for Affleck, but 10 years later, he had climbed his way back to the top of the mountain and stood in front of his peers — and millions of people watching around the world — as the hottest director in town. As he beamed with pride standing beside fellow Argo producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov, the world was his oyster, and one could only imagine where his career would go next.
But that very moment proved to be his peak. A combination of hard knocks in Affleck’s much-publicized personal life — which we aren’t going to get into here — and the critical and commercial disaster of his pet project Live by Night — the Prohibition-era crime drama that served as his follow-up to Argo — hit Affleck hard. So hard that it scared him away from directing altogether.
Maybe it was self-doubt stemming from whether he’d ever be able to live up to the glory days of Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and especially Argo. Maybe his own personal demons — Affleck has famously struggled with alcoholism — were simply too strong to shake. Maybe he felt everything was just slipping away. We don’t know.
But if Affleck was ever going to return behind the camera and remind the world what he’s capable of as a director, he had to go on his own journey inward in order to find both himself and creative inspiration. That journey appears to have culminated with Air, the forthcoming drama about the making of Nike’s iconic Air Jordan shoe, which sees Affleck reteam with his old pal Matt Damon. And after watching the trailer, it sure seems like Affleck has rediscovered that fire in his belly that put him back on top a decade ago.
Like Argo, Affleck’s latest film is another “true to life” drama that is lightly fictionalized by screenwriterAlex Convery, whose script was on the 2021 Black List, just as Chris Terrio‘s nail-biting script for Argowas on the 2010 Black List before going on to win the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
I saw Argo with my brother, Dwight, the week after the film opened, and it was one of the greatest moviegoing experiences of my life. Every choice that Affleck made was the right choice. Argo is the kind of masterwork a director is lucky to make once in a lifetime. I’ve already promised Dwight that I won’t see Air without him, as the trailer gives me a similar feeling.
It’s a feeling that Affleck himself is said to share, as our very own Jeff Sneider reported on a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast. Sneider said that Air has been finished since last November and that Affleck was so high on the film that he pushed for Amazon to release the film in theaters in December and give it a last-minute Oscar push, sensing a weak Best Picture field. Amazon vetoed that, as the studio was planning a robust theatrical release given its high commercial hopes for Air — hopes that it didn’t want to see dashed by the December release of box office juggernaut Avatar: The Way of Water, which would surely have eaten it alive.
I’ve heard good things about Air and would love to see Affleck making more movies like it, so I’m nervous when I’m reminded of the fact that he has already sat down with DC Studios’ dynamic duo James Gunn and Peter Safran to discuss the possibility of directing a project for them. There have been plenty of murmurs and whispers about what said project might be, but the rumor I’ve heard was that Affleck was planning to direct The Brave & the Bold.
Moving fully behind the camera and casting his own successor — if one doesn’t count The Batman star Robert Pattinson and the returning (albeit for only one film now) Michael Keaton — in the cinematic universe he previously headlined is such a strange concept. One of those “so strange, it must be true” ideas, perhaps? Assuming it is true.
As I’ve stated previously, Gunn is more than welcome to say I’m totally wrong here. I would consider it an honor to be “called out” by him. No hard feelings whatsoever!
But that’s not the point here. This isn’t about Affleck doing The Brave & the Bold. It’s about him avoiding it.
Surely, one understands the appeal from Gunn and Safran’s perspective. It’s not so much about working hand-in-hand with Ben Affleck, the previous custodian of the Batman mythos onscreen, as it is working with Ben Affleck, the two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker. They want to see what that guy brings to the table!
But personally, I don’t see what Affleck would get out of this. Yes, he’s flirted with blockbusters before — directorially speaking — having been up for Man of Steel and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And he is a noted genre fan. For example, in the closing scenes of Argo, the bedroom of Tony Mendez‘s little boy — full of comic books, video games, and Star Trek and Star Wars action figures — was modeled after Affleck’s very own bedroom growing up, as he was the exact same age in 1980.
I suppose, given Affleck’s choices as a director, that The Brave & the Bold would present him with some new challenges and give him a chance to work with new tools and toys. So in that sense, sure, I get it.
But regardless of whatever this DCU project is — whether it’s The Brave & the Bold or something else entirely, and that’s if it even happens — the fact is that if Air is as good as I suspect, then Affleck will be too good for the DCU, and I mean that with all due respect to what Gunn and Safran are building. Not only that, but Affleck just plain doesn’t need to make a comic book movie at this stage of his career, let alone his life.
It’s not that Affleck wouldn’t give the DCU 110 percent, but his heart and soul clearly belong in adult dramas like Argo and Air. After all, that’s the whole reason that he and Damon started a new production company, Artists Equity, which, as reported by the New York Times, has lined up $100 million to finance those kinds of mid-budget movies.
The old “One for them, one for me” model — which Affleck himself was a longtime proponent of during his movie star heyday in the late ’90s/early 2000s — is no longer a workable model in today’s environment where studios are making fewer and fewer films, and the ones they do make are mega-budget popcorn movies. Thankfully, those smaller, more intimate character dramas are still being made by the likes of Amazon, Apple, and Netflix, though their commitment to theatrical is questionable. Indeed, though Air may be receiving an unprecedented wide release from Amazon, will other films without Damon and Affleck be so lucky? That’s why we need Affleck making more of those kinds of movies — to help ensure that they’ll continue being made in the future.
Again this isn’t meant to throw shade at any parties. But Affleck can’t definitively put the cape-and-cowl behind him if he’s still playing in the DCU waters, even if it’s strictly from behind the camera. It’s in Affleck’s best interest, and likely our own as movie fans, for him to leave his time in the DCEU (now the DCU) behind him so he can focus on being the truly great director we all know he was before, and judging by the Air trailer, can be again.

Bernie sanders mittens meme creator
#BERNIE SANDERS MITTENS MEME CREATOR GENERATOR#
The former Presidential contender himself arrived in a casual avatar, dressed aptly for the winter, with a jacket and mittens, which became a talking point. Be it Kamala Harris' reaction to Michelle Obama's 'You Go Girl' stare or Jennifer Lopez's power packed performance, but other than that, if there's one thing that tickled everyone's funny bone across the world, it is Bernie Sanders'. The US Inauguration Day saw its fair share of some captivating moments.
#BERNIE SANDERS MITTENS MEME CREATOR GENERATOR#
So much so, that a man made a meme generator for his picture, and guess what, he had to struggle to not let it crash. People began to place him in every nook and corner, making funny memes. His cozy, casual look with brown jacket and mittens, wearing a facemask and sitting grumpily took a hilarious ride of its own on social media. However, if there's someone who caused a real buzz by a very casual presence, it is Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Meanwhile, the background is just the first result found with no panning or precise granularity available. That said, latitude and longitude do work if you want to browse Google Maps first before entering a location. The US Inauguration Day may have technically been all about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris transitioning to power as new leaders of America. The scale, however, looks mostly accurate. For example, choosing the Googleplex sees him placed on a rail. You have no control over the exact placement of the Bernie Sitting image since it’s fixed, and some instances see him unnaturally positioned off the ground. This Bernie meme generator leverages the Google Maps Platform available to third-party developers. The iconic image of the Vermont Senator and former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in a chair, complete with winter jacket and mittens, will then be overlaid in Street View, or other pictures uploaded to Google Maps by users. You can right-click or hold down on the image to save and share. A fun meme generator, powered by Google Maps Street View, lets you have Bernie Sit down anywhere in the world.Ĭreated by Nick Sawhney, simply invites users to “enter an address or location, and Bernie will appear there.” It’s a basic webpage that loads best on the desktop web. The Inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was always going to be a momentous occasion, but it saw the unexpected creation of a truly delightful meme involving Senator Bernie Sanders sitting down.

PROPAGANDA
AZULA (AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER) (CW: Child Abuse, Ableism)
1.) Azula was totally screwed over by the writers of both the show, and its post-canon comics. When this fourteen year old abuse victim isn't being portrayed as weirdly adult, she's having her charecter massacred to make her precious older brother seem like a good guy for shoving her in an asylum. My girl deserved better than to be an extremely negative portrayal of mental illness who only exists to be a prop bad guy.
2.) I think everyone else has said it better than I can, but I'll add that in the comics she's shown to be heavily suffering from trauma and mental illness and she's treated like she's crazy and evil for having those issues, when her male relatives are supported
3.) Everyone hates for doing pretty much the same stuff zuko was doing pre-redemption (also the way people talk about her is so ableist)
JENNIFER LOPEZ (JOHN DIES AT THE END)
1.) She's not real life Jennifer Lopez, she just shares the name so the author has an excuse to introduce her by just talking about how hot she is.
She's always crying, always the damsel in distress. This is sort of a zombie book, so when someone the group knows gets infected everyone refuses to kill him. So she picks up a shotgun and I was like "hell yes, this is her moment, finally some characterization" but she just hands the shotgun to the main character with a pouty look on her face like "you do it please."
The main character is always talking about her tits, how hot she is, and how annoying she is. She gets no characterization besides constantly needing to be helped. The main character wants to fuck her so bad despite them only interacting in high school when she bullied him and that is framed as completely reasonable.
This is a book, and in the movie adaptation she's combined with the only other girl(who is supposed to be a child). So there's only one woman in the whole movie! And she's a combo of a small girl whose mentally disabled and an adult woman who every man is horny for!
