I'm curious as to peoples idea for what he'd do for the next power hour so

[These all being popular ideas or ppl he's mentioned]

This was all just a ploy to get you to read my info dump theory on the concept of a Chonny Jash Power Hour loser HAHAHA

Im joking tho. Not about my CJPH theory, that is very much real but I'm not forcing you to read it lol

Okay so I'm gonna start with the basic idea I got it from; that being Nerd. Nerd already foreshadowed the THDPH & the WWPH [Even down to the last song for each of them] Not only that, but he references the stuff hes done in the past as well with a break/pause inbetween.

[This is what I mean]

The first three being all stuff he already did. BDG with Pocket, Tally Hall with Vol.1 & then Cage by Tim Minchin being the start the power hours.

The next two being the power hours he would do after this song [Memento Mori & Charlie's Inferno-Will Wood & That Handsome Devil]. But those are the only songs he would reference in Nerd, leaving no more clues as to what the last one would be. The only thing left in it is the video game references & Stairway to Heaven in the ending. [Which oddly enough also fit the pattern in a way. StH being about dying and the afterlife like Memento Mori & Chonny's Inferno and the video game references being all covers he made on his old channel]

While the VG refs could be a hint at a Videogame or Toby Fox Power Hour, I think at most, if its a clue at all, hinting at the next thing he does is recovering old songs.

Next, a couple of his songs reference his past stuff. Fine, I'm Fine has a good amount of lines that vaguely refer back to songs from the before [heres a post that goes more into it that's pretty cool!!]. And more importantly Dear Machine references Pocket, Dream (Outro from Calamity) & wings of wax. Pocket being later used in Nerd & the mention of Icarus coming back in Art. Not only that, but the voice in the very end Thermodynamic Lawyer is the exact same [if not very close to] voice filter/effect he uses in Dear Machine. Even down to the British accent he does in it. [Tho it is fairly normal for a music artist to reference their older songs in their music so it could be nothing]

Speaking of Dear Machine tho, quick thing to add about it is that it shows he not against covering his own songs. While yea technically its just a different version of Ode of the Cog, DM,HtC in a way counts as a cover of OotC. Same goes for bargaining/compromise & The Ballad of Dr. Jekyll.

Another idea with a CJPH is that in the CJFS discord theres a "Question of the Day" Channel. Where, as the name says, a Mod or Helper will ask a CJ related question & everyone can give their idea/imput on it. For Day 100, as a special fun lil thing, they asked Chonny if he wanted to give a question for that day. His question being:

And yes he does say that he doesnt plan on doing anything like that in future [if he even were to do it]. I fully believe he wasn't lying there & honestly I never saw him redoing any song ever until I had the idea of a CJPH [aside from stuff like Spring and a Storm & Storm and a Spring obviously]. But this is the best idea I could ever see him doing that. Also that question was from early August so a fair amount of time has passed. Whether thats enough time to equal "at least in the near future at all" I have no clue, but it is a thought.

One of my last points [that I remember atm lol] is on how he would end the power hours. Cos like, while yea he does whatever he wants & doesn't rlly follow what anyone says or asks [which I 100% agree with & is completely valid btw], I'd imagine he'd still want to end the PHs with a bang. Which is why I originally didnt think the recent one would be Will Wood.

He's stated a couple of time that hes one of his favorite artist & he definitely knows that a huge chunk of his fan base listen to WW as well. So why not end with that? Why not end with one of the most requested artist people wanted him to cover? Why wouldn't he end with a power hour of the artist that was his #1 on his Spotify Wrapped? What else could he do after that? Well maybe he'd go with his #2 artist? WHICH IS JUST HIMSELF BBYYYY

So it's very likely he's had himself play multiple times in a row & had a "Chonny Jash Power Hour".

Of course theories are just theories so there's always the chance I'm wrong & just insane. And again he does whatever he wants whenever he wants so who knows what it'll be. I just think id be an interesting idea for him to do.

As for how a Chonny Jash Power Hour would look? Maybe each song being a cover of a song from a past album or single? I'd imagine one from the before. & Covered in Discontent [maybe Gothic Whore?]. Like remake Pocket since its been referenced so much, tho that's still just a BDG cover so who knows. the before. would be interesting just to see how his perspective has changed since he originally wrote those songs. Gothic Whore he already has 2 songs that have a story version & a him version so I can see him doing another.

I HIGHLY doubt he'd do anything related to Vol.1 as its his completely separate thing & he doesn't rlly wanna touch any song that's TH/HMS related until whenever he feels like starting Vol.2 [which is valid lol]. If anything I could maybe see like TWWAY, Special or maybe Greener? Or go a different route with the og I'm Gonna Win or like a more outta the box one with like Just a Friend [only cos be did a 20 second "cover" of it in Mucka Blucka]. Again, I do not see him touching anything Vol.1 related but still something to entertain ig? [4th TME cover; The Chonny Electric when/j]

Tho maybe he'd just remake songs that he he fully made [like the before. or Gothic Whore], since those are more of actual Chonny Jash songs rather than the others just being covers. Would be very cool to maybe see a remake of some of his Majora's Mask song tho [no this isn't me coping over HEAL not being on spotify shush]. Or maybe he'd do songs from his old stuff like Don't Take it Personally? [also not me coping over wanting that song on Spotify too]

Idk these are just my thoughts on the idea of a CJPH [or even a Can of Soup Power Hour/j]. Either way I am gonna say idc what he'd do, BDG or Streetlight Manifesto are my other guesses, but anything he makes is always rll good & fun so I'll be interested to see whatever it is.

But ya know considering I typed all this out in the span of an hour & a half I kinda hope im not wrong PFFT

Jason finds out shocking news about his family, and Bruce is an idiot who can't admit he just misses his son.

Jason smiled as he pushed Danny on the swing. Lian was laughing beside them. Jason turned toward Roy and grinned at the man as both children’s peals of laughter echoed around them. (Jason had built a swing set, so Danny had something to play with. Next would be a slide.) Raven was talking to Jazz and rocking Ellie. Raven had seemed to become attached to the kids quickly. It helped that they weren’t fully human like her.

Plus, it must be nice for Jazz to have another girl to speak to.

Jason was so glad that Raven had suggested she cloak Jason and his small family so that she and Roy could come to visit. The Bats were still looking for Jason. According to Roy, Batman and Nightwing were going crazy trying to find leads on Jason.

He didn’t know how to feel about that.

A part of Jason hoped that his old family missed him, but a bigger part of him knew that they were only looking for Jason to keep an eye on him in case Jason went insane again. Jason knew their worries were justified.

It wouldn’t happen, though, not with the family that Jason had built. He couldn’t risk losing Danny and, to the same extent, Jazz and Ellie. He had already gotten attached to the sweet baby girl, and Jazz was nice to talk to.

She almost reminded him of Barbara. Barbara, the only person from his past who talked to him occasionally, was the only one who checked on him and ensured he was fine. She sometimes talked to him during patrols, making those nights less lonely.

Jason was brought back to the present at Danny’s and Lian’s giggling.

“Uncle Jay, Uncle Jay, tell Danny I’m your favorite niece.”

“Nuh-uh, Ellie is his favorite niece.”

“Guys, guys, no fighting. Besides, I love my two nieces equally.”

Roy started fidgeting beside him while Lian looked at him, confused. Raven had a strange look on her face. Before he could ask what happened for them to start acting weird, Lian said, “What about Mar’i? Don’t you love her, too?”

Jason looked at Raven and then Roy.

“Who the hell is Mar’i?”

“Jay,” Roy asked cautiously, “Didn’t you know?”

“Know what?”

Roy sucked in his breath, “Mar’i is Kory’s and Dick’s daughter.”

Bruce couldn’t believe what Alfred was saying.

“So, you find out my son is alive, have proof, it takes you a few days to tell me, and then you say I shouldn’t look for him?”

“That’s exactly what I did and am saying, Master Bruce. The boy wants to be left alone; I think we should give him his space and let him come back to us when he feels like it.”

“What if the Pits take over, and he goes on a killing spree? What if he gets in trouble? Injured or, God forbid, what if he gets killed?” Again.

“What if—what if he never comes home?”

“Master Jason has suffered enough. If he felt the need to leave home, we should honor that. Besides, he came home once. He’ll do it again. We have to give him his space, Bruce.”

Bruce stared out the window from his office. A part of him wishes he could’ve reconnected with Jason sooner.

Would he have left if Bruce had extended an olive branch?

No, it was too late to think about ‘what ifs’ now. He had to find his son and bring him home. It’s the only way he can keep the world and Jason safe. Bruce had a better handle in Gotham than anywhere else in the world. He would bring Jason back and ensure his boy was again protected by his cape.

He had to. There was no other choice.

Reading update

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers - 3.75/5 stars

I hate myself a little bit for using this word to describe this book, but it's a meditation on modern (western) culture, the drumbeat of living a purposeful life, and, imo, the millennial condition.

The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by KJ Charles - 5/5 stars

This book features Gareth Inglis, a member of the gentry whose father shipped him off to his uncle when his mother died. Gareth never saw or heard from his father (who remarried and had another child) again, and no one knew he existed because his father was a piece of human garbage. Which meant I couldn't stop thinking about my former father-in-law, who had two sons from his first marriage whom he, as far as I could tell, never had any contact with after remarrying and having another child. Life imitates art?

Anyway, it's KJ Charles, so you pretty much can't go wrong. I saw someone refer to this as enemies-to-lovers and realized my toxic trait is railing against people who want to apply enemies-to-lovers to everything. Spoiler alert, this is not enemies-to-lovers. But it is lovely, and includes Gareth and Joss Doomsday (a smuggler) bonding over beetles.

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by SA Chakraborty - 4.5/5 stars

It was no Daevabad Trilogy, but then again, I remember finishing City of Brass and being like, yeah, it was fine, I'll probably pick up the sequel at some point. It wasn't until Kingdom of Copper that I grew to really love the series, so I'm hoping the same happens with this. This book was a lot of fun, and the fact that all the characters were middle-aged was pretty delightful. I'm definitely excited to see where this series goes.

Brida by Paul Coelho - 1/5 stars

One of the reviews for this book on Storygraph says it 'aged like milk' and I can't put it better than that. This is a soul mate AU where souls undergo cell division, essentially, and your soul mate is from your same base soul from before the soul split in half. Okay, great. Oh but wait, the soul always divides into male and female. And your soul mate is always someone of the opposite sex, even though that doesn't make sense because as souls divide again and again, that means there are a lot of people out there who came from the same original soul as you. Also, witchcraft? Also also, even though the book is called Brida and is ostensibly about the title character, her whole journey was really just to serve the unnamed male character, the Magus. This isn't implicit either, it's completely explicit. At the end it's like, 'sometimes young women come along to show men the way' (I'm paraphrasing but...not much).

This went straight to my give away pile, and I hated it so much that the rest of my Coelho books joined it (except The Alchemist).

Song of Silver, Flame Like Night by Amélie Wen Zhao - DNF

Honestly, the Mad Libs YA title should have warned me off of this one, but I always give my Illumicrate books a try. Cartoonish villains and protagonists I find myself liking less the more we get to know them. The prose is quite good but not enough to make up for the character deficiencies.

Solomon's Crown by Natasha Siegel - 5/5 stars

Blurbed by no less than Tamora Pierce (Song of the Lioness supremacy!), Rainbow Rowell, Freya Marske, and CS Pacat. Did I go into this book with insanely high expectations? Yes. Did it mostly meet them? Yes! If you're a Captive Prince fan, this one's for you.

Siegel tells us up front, before the book even starts, that it's a romance and not historically accurate. So don't go into this expecting a historically accurate love story between King Richard of England and King Philip of France. It is, however, a gorgeous romance. The world-building is top notch. Even if it's not totally accurate to the High Middle Ages, it feels accurate, if that makes sense? Siegel really captures the feeling of being in a different world. Lush writing, amazing sexual/romantic tension, lovely sad boys. Highly, highly recommend.

Daniel Cabot Puts Down Roots by Cat Sebastian - 4.75/5 stars

I docked .25 stars because it bugged me that they didn't move in together at the end. Idk, just felt too 'look, I'm subverting romance conventions!' Still good, obviously.

Like Real People Do by EL Massey - 4/5 stars

A very wholesome and low stakes hockey romance. I found myself often thinking that the interactions of the men on the hockey teams seemed unrealistic, but it was charming and sweet enough that I didn't care.

The book reads like fanfiction, which is because it was fanfiction—but it's in a mostly good way, not a bad way (*cough* All The Way Happy *cough*). Apparently the original version was Check, Please! fanfiction, which I am vaguely familiar with as a thing that exists. Apparently it's a web comic? Anyway, I enjoyed the book enough to pick up the sequel.

batjokes and the killing joke

before/during the bronze age of dc joker and batman were often written as fun rivals, nothing really insane happened until the killing joke was released just a few years after the bronze age

the killing joke was so popular it was basically used as canon for future comics to come even though it's not canon. it provided a backstory for joker (even today joker has no canon backstory since he also said in kj "if I were to have a past I prefer it to be multiple choice..." so he makes up his past on the spot to make the victim feel sympathy for him) and a relationship between Bruce and joker of "I don't want us to end." that relationship is now applied to every comic ever that involves them.

the killing joke only revealed the tip of how manipulative joker can be and it's scary. death in the family was released after the killing joke which went more into jokers and batman's obsessions with each other. joker killed Jason because he felt like Jason was taking batman's attention from him, that he would disturb their never ending game

batman himself doesn't even realize his own mental state and how messed up his head is too and how he refuses to let joker die— he constantly saves joker for no reason other than the "I don't want us to end" thing. scott snyder does a rlly good job w that in his comics by making their relationship dependable and unhealthily obsessive. in the Batman who laughs, joker and batman have a similar conversation to the one in the killing joke. batman admits his feelings, but in bwl joker admits he doesn't want batman to die and only does things that he knows batman can get out of, saying that one of them can't be left standing; if they die, they die together.

in injustice Superman saw through Bruce's feelings to joker dying even though joker doesn't deserve that grief. superman straight up told batman "you loved him didn't you" which shocks the reader the most and again shows how messed up bruces mentality is with this attachment

in another comic, joker talks to catwoman (after learning about selinas and bruces wedding) about the end of the killing joke where bruce and joker laughed together under the rain and held each other, again showing obsession. he also tells Selina how she can't marry him because Bruce's attention will leave him. joker needs batman to hurt him, he needs Bruce's undivided attention.

there's also a comic where each year joker would give batman presents in hopes of guessing his birthday. and one year he decided to give himself up as a present. he said they're going to play the game forever until they die. there's no escaping each other and Bruce sadly realizes that what joker said was true. but in catwoman lonely city #4, joker stops their game to tell Bruce he feels tired, he wants them to stop. and Bruce wants the same, but they end up dying together at that moment where joker showed that transparency. both comics show joker calling batman "Bruce" telling the reader that he knows who batman is under the mask. joker only calls him Bruce when he wants to stop their game, when he feels vulnerable. both comics are also centered around a decision of either joker or civilians, and Bruce chose joker. this again goes back to the killing jokes and vaguely connects to it— that they'll be the death of each other, or when they choose to stop, they don't want to lose each other.

in new 52 joker finally loses his grip on his obsession w batman that he goes the farthest he can in showing batman that they need each other. he takes each of Bruce's kids and captures them doing a whole performance or whatever and at the end of death of the family, Bruce tells his kids about jokers intelligence, revealing joker knew who batman and his robins are under their masks basically their entire history (which is also shown in other comics where joker knows Bruce is disguising himself for a case) but joker doesn't mentally accept their identities because it would ruin their game

batman endgame goes even further into that, adding a lot more romantic subtext into their relationship than death of the family did. making them fall in a heart shaped pool of blood, a cover where they posed together as the molds of two lovers found from the remains Pompeii, but still following the killing jokes set relationship of "I don't want us to end"

batman and joker have so much history into them and even in stand alone comics there are still elements of the killing joke, joker reading through batman, Bruce saving joker even though he could've left him and more

also in the joker war Bruce is left with the decision of leaving joker behind or saving him from the explosion and since he knows just how smart joker is he tells him "if you were smart enough to rob the batsuit u can escape easily" and leaves him because he knows he's going to survive similar to how joker leaves Bruce to survive his own games

Oh dude I haven’t watched the series in it’s entirety in FOREVER but you’re so fucking right about that episode. The fact that Joker had to watch someone, that was essentially his little brother, die in his arms as he could do nothing but watch because he actually fucking failed. He literally lost the will to do anything other than grieve his loss because he couldn’t do fucking more to save someone—like, I am also absolutely normal about this even if I haven’t watched it in years…

I bet he actually blanked when Spade warned them, like he was hurt and tired and Hachi just moved on fucking instinct. 12 year old me was not ready emotionally and you are so right to be so normal rn 😭. The horror on their faces when they realized what happened, when Joker slowly turned to see Hachi’s body, he probably wished he could’ve done more in that moment…

God now I gotta watch that episode again…

(Also don’t mind me that I saw this ask last night but I was just eepy :), now I can’t english properly and am only running on memories and emotions that I can recall but you are so so fucking right about that episode. Probably what introduced into angst or hurt/comfort now that I think about it…)

takeaways from the game:

nick was starting, so after the anthem he went to the d bench and fist bumped every d man individually before going to the face off

blanks and bean were 1st line d

nick did take long shifts though, often got out before bean (would change on the fly) and stayed out after bean

so he played with primarily bean but also christensen and gavrikov (the other 2 left d men)

led team in ice time for defensemen, was 2nd in ice time out of all defensemen playing from both teams

also led cbj d men in puck possession for most of game (although i think he ended up second to boqvist)

led cbj d men in distance skated

he got off the bench and went onto the ice at the end of the first to meet elvis at the net and tao him with his stick rather than just going down the tunnel like everyone else

at the end of the second, he was on the ice in the offensive zone and skated down to elvis in net to once again encourage him

the former captain tendencies are so strong

kj has definitely been working on his defensive game, it shows

kj also has insane warmup rituals like the stick handling moves he does are insane to watch (at one point he took a sweet shot between his legs)

nick and kj pass to each other during warmups!

nick also smushed kj playfully into the boards at one point (who is kj if he doesn’t have a defensemen lovingly shoving him around)

sean kuraly is a man of the people. very interactive during warmups with the fans; at one point he scored and turned around and held his arms up so we’d all cheer

sean is also very good on faceoffs, for a good while he was at 100% on wins

adam boqvist messed with kj and pokechecked the puck he was stickhandling and kj made a hell of a face about it

in general kj is just so expressive it’s so fun to read his expressions

nick is FAST on the ice (this was my first time seeing him live), he is really good at joining the rush and then hauling ass back to play defense

he’s also really good at getting his stick in to deflect a shot or a pass, not afraid to dive or block shots either

the fifth line ADORES him. he got hit into the bench at one point and everyone was screaming about how you can’t do that and after he blocked a shot everyone was cheering really loud

they did a player profile for nick. if he could eat one food for the rest of his life, he’d eat chicken parm. his favorite bday gift is a painting from a monkey that his mom got for his 21st. and with his new contract, the first thing he bought was a louis vuitton bag

nick was playing with gavrikov on the penalty kill and the last minute when washington pulled goalie (these two played most of the pk. they’d play about the entire first minute, woukd change at a stop in play, and then changed again at the next stop in play to get back on ice, seemingly only took like 30 seconds off out of the two minutes)

nick finished with almost four minutes ice time short handed, led team there

elvis was on his game, looked good in net

adam boqvist was starting d man on the power play, followed by jake bean

kj was playing center again (larsen has not given an affirmative answer into whether kj will start at center or wing so this is interesting to pay attention to)

chinakhov looks great, had a really good game

jackets did not score on the power play but i’m not shocked

we did do well on the pk though

first period we spent a lot of time in our zone but we got better as game progressed

laine looks good, did better defensively than he did the last time i saw him

which obscure Media would u recommend to another empty fandom collector such as yourself?

You ask an intriguing question! I mean, there is so just so much to choose from and I have no idea where your interests lie to guide you better. So here are all the tiny fandoms I am proud to have been too late to join or remain the only member of (in a variety of media):

-The Engineer Trilogy is a book series by KJ Parker that has, as far I know, no fandom at all. It’s just me and a thousand fic ideas I will never really finish because no one will ever read them. Which is a shame because the series really lends itself to fanfiction (literally every single character is a poor little meow meow). But despite having no fandom, these books are probably objectively some of the best, most ambitious books ever written and the reason I maintain that the best books are never appreciated in their time.

-Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke is the other best book of all time that I can’t get anyone to read because they’re just not ready. It at least has a small fandom because they made a BBC miniseries of it a few years ago that was actually quite decent and had the added benefit of casting some very attractive actors. Definitely worth a watch and if you like it, 100% worth the read (this book is my Bible)

-Laurie R. King, the Patron Saint of fanfiction, whose Sherlock Holmes and Mary Russell series survived the great Mary Sue hate of the late 90s early 00s, and who is actually a wonderful author in her own right. She used to have her own very small fandom site where people posted fanfiction and art but not nearly enough and it’s not active (at least that I can tell; I came in - you guessed it - late)

-Deadwood, that will always be one million times better than Game of Thrones to me, never had the fandom Ian McShane it deserved. Again, late so idk if there was a lot going on for it at the time but it certainly didn’t leave behind much fanfic for us stragglers

-Labyrinth, which I hesitate to include here because its not obscure and truly does have an insane amount of fanfiction but its fandom is mostly old (like me) and inactive (tell me I’m wrong and point me in the right direction!). Probably because the movie isn’t very popular anymore. However, it’s a great example of a tiny half-dead fandom with more fanfiction than it knows what to do with (even I haven’t read through it all).

-Watchmen (the graphic novel, NOT the new series). This did get a nice little surge of fans with the movie that came out and was probably the only time in my life I was there waiting for it. Ah the glory days of soaking up Rorschach/Night Owl fanfics on the ground as they came out… but it’s dead now, the book very close to cancelled and the fans mostly in hiding. There’s still a good bit of great fic out there if you love angsty slash pairings

-and last but not least, if you’re interested in random fandom-light video games, I can recommend several World of Warcraft fanfics that are absolutely lovely (and only some of them are mine 😅). I write for one minor-ish character in a now out-of-date expansion, as do @shipping-through-eternity and @mousterian-writes and @mysdrym to name a few. But all of it is lovely in their own different styles and genres, so if you have need of a dying video game fandom in your life I highly recommend!

@kjs-s I have decided to write both. Both are very good. So, here's your first little ramble for the LOVELY Steven with a 'v'.

This was insane. Like, certifiably insane! If you hadn't seen it all with your own eyes then you would have been concerned that Steven had finally completely lost it. Though maybe it was you who was headed for the looney bin.

Standing there, eyes wide, you tried to process the scene in front of you. Several incredibly dangerous looking men sprawled throughout the alley way, you totally unharmed, a rather suave figure entirely in white with Steven's voice watching you carefully.

"What. The Hell. Was. That?" you managed to huff out, your heart still racing.

"Well, kinda a long story really. I mean, we could start from the beginning, though I'm not sure where the real beginning is. Maybe with Marc? Maybe before that, really, I mean it's not like there haven't been other avatars and stuff but..." He trailed off when he realised he was rambling and you definitely weren't following his erratic train of thought.

"Steven. Did you really just take out six guys?" Your eyes ran over the bodies once more, doing a headcount.

"Didn't really seem fair, did it? Them lot all against you, figured I'd even the numbers a little." He was growing more nervous, uncertain that you would ever want anything to do with him again after all this.

"Even it up? You came out of nowhere, like Batman! Though you outfit is rather more conspicuous." Your eyes roamed over him, taking in every detail of this elaborate costume.

"Well, I do look sharp though." He fixed his tie, not sure if he liked this comparison to the caped crusader of comic book fame.

"True." You smirked and he felt his nerves dissipating a little. "Still, it's not my favourite look on you. I can't see that gorgeous face of yours. I would rather like to look into the eyes of my hero and thank him properly." 

"Oh, well, I can manage that." Steven grinned as he stepped forward, his mask disappearing as he placed his hands on your waist.

"There you are." You hummed, not quite sure how you were going to match up your mild mannered, loving boyfriend with the kick ass ninja warrior you'd just witnessed.

"Here I am." He said softly, resting his forehead against yours, just glad that you were safe, that he had arrived in time. In the back of his mind he heard Marc warning that this wasn't over. Steven knew he was right, but he just wanted a moment with you, a calm pause before he truly introduced you to the craziness his life had become.

hi your riptide / killjoys thing sounds SO FUCKING SICK please tell me about it

prefacing this by saying i havent finished riptide im on ep50 ok evverything else i know is gathered from fics and from my dash so if it doesnt properly line up with backstories FUCK YOU DONT TELL ME YET. also im using a ton of kj fanon slang bc its what im used to, if you dont know what a phrase means just ask. ok anyway

the factions honestly line up pretty well?? the navy is BLind, the pirates are killjoys. high ranking navy officers like jays family are crows and exterminators. the boats are cars, the undersea is like.. maybe the lobby. tritons are droids for the sake of this ok (not often seen out in the zones, have a wildly different culture, etc) because i diid NOT want to have to worldbuild an entire faction of like. goddamn radiation mutants since the reason nobody can leave the zones is bc its surrounded by a fucking killzone. alright. so we're doing droids

whether or not chip is sandpup or cityborn is kinda irrelevant - he ends up out in the ones real fuckin early regardless and gets picked up by the black rose crew etc etc. but they get caught in a REAL bad clap with crows and he just has to fucking leg it and pray. that OR theyre cauht in the bombing of zone7 idk i havent listened to the oneshot and i dont believe in factchecking. whichever works. he ends up stuck in the zones, alone, at a way too fucking young age and nobody ELSE wats some ittle kid dragging them down so he ends up in the lobby and makes it work there instead. he has something to do with juvie halls? i dont know enough canon backstory to say much more but yeah. he falls in with tthem until he meets JAY!!

ferin family = scarecrows thats fairly obvious. higherups in BLind get benefits so shes never been on their meds (this helps out in the desert with being a better shot, bc she has no withdrawal shakes. same with drey) and just like. generally is allowed more freedom. but obviously with this freedom she realises BLind fucking SUCKS and somthing something her sister was a crow and died etc etc. also i think ava wouldve been fairly known in the city for being on BLind broadcasts. jay too maybe because i think chip teasing her for it is funny, and because obviously crows use fake names so the "ferin" name would be less known than her appearance. she visits the lobby fairly regularly but doesnt have the guts to leave until she meets chip

GILLION THOUGH. since im using droids we're Going to pretend here that in my version of kjs there are sentient droids that ARENT SEXBOTS. OK. WE'RE PRETENDING THOSE ARE A THING. he was probably a sentry or guard or something. robots are autistic so this tracks. but he gets kicked out of his post for some fucking reason and ends up just kind of. aimless in the lobby. he becomes VERY invested in the preachings of destroya. at some point, after jay and chip have left, he somehow manages to get out by himself and collapses in the sand in zone one which is how chip and jay find him. also ive yet to decid how to handle the plus addiction thing since thats. not really a topic that comes up in riptide. ill think on it maybe

um other than that.. as for names im . well gillion tidestrider sunds like a kj name its insane and punny enough. i have a lot of naming convention hcs that i cant explain concisely but ill just say chip only having a first name makes sense despite kj names being 2-3 words typically. jay im totally stumped on though bc girl she HAS to change her name and it should really follow the two word format and again. she cannot keep her last name bc anyone from the city would recognise the ferin name. so theres that. yeah thats all i got hiiii i will make this better when i catch up i promise

Sixers-Nets Game 1 Reaction

Yip, yip, yip, about as good as you could possibly ask for from the Sixers, a 121-101 victory and a great start to the series.

The Nets had a lot of reasons they could have won this game, from Mikal Bridges dropping 30 points, to the Nets collectively shooting 44.8% from 3, and yet, we were still too much for them.

I want to begin by talking about James Harden.

I am very harsh on James Harden but in 2023, I’ve come to accept and even at times appreciate what he does for the Sixers on the court.

While I am not ready to say that I am wrong about him, he has acquitted himself this season, lead the league in assists in the regular season, and in game 1, his 23 points, 13 assist and 4 rebounds just gave us a scoring boost that put us out of reach of the Nets and he shot an insane 7-13 from 3.

For whatever fans and nalysts may think is wrong with the Sixers, James Harden is not even in the top 5 most urgent issues surrounding this team.

I’m not going to put a caveat on my change of heart with James Harden either, I am not hedging my bets by citing his past playoff blunders. I have no idea how Harden is going to perform in the 2nd round or beyond, and again I have no expectations of anything this year.

The point is in 2022/23, 33-year old James Harden gave me 58 starts, 21 points 10.7 assists, 6.1 rebounds, 

We didn’t get the dominant Joel Embiid scoring performance but collectively we were great, knocking down 13 3-pointers in the first half alone and we shattered Brooklyn’s zone defense enough that they would instead opt for hard double teams in the 2nd half and both times the Sixers were able to execute swing passes to an open guy that made his 3 attempt.

We approached and played this like the home team should, everyone was hitting 3′s and while and bunch of Mikal Bridges’ points came in the 1st half, he slowed down a bunch in the 2nd half, and stuff like that is the reason why I felt like the Sixers would overpower the Nets throughout the series.

Every player contributed, PJ Tucker was a force defensively, constantly getting in to passing lanes and notching 5 steals and Paul Reed had some plays that showed he can contribute but I’ll keep an eye on his minutes as the series goes, because our bench including DeAnthony Melton, KJ McDaniels and George Niang earned some credibility, though I will still want to see how they contribute on the road.

I still have one more thing I want see out of the Sixers though.

26 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, is an okay statline for Joel Embiid, and really that is a result of how the Nets opted for zones and then double teams to defend Embiid.

The Nets blocked a bunch of shots at the rim but I’m happy with how he was able to find a pass out of those doubles, no matter where the double came from. 

All thiis is what opens up space for out shooters but I have not doubt Embiid will serve up some 40-burgers, particularly once the series goes to Brooklyn for game 3 and 4.

8. First fandom of the year

lmfao I had to go look at my blog archive and I think the answer is The Book of Boba Fett specifically! I'm....bad at being a Star Wars fan because I only care about like, 30% of Star Wars probably. but I looooooooooooved the Boba Fett show so much. I don't know what happened bc I never cared about Boba Fett before but everything about it worked for me! I love that there was an entire episode about him being a horse girl, I love that he spends most of it awkwardly trying to be a human and only sort of succeeding. I loved his and Fennic's weird friendship. I loved the dumb Power Ranger team so much. This is the only Star Wars show I need tbh, all others have been fine but I adored this one.

This project feels very distant to me now, not in a bad way but just that I have been so busy I’ve been kind of unable to unpack all I learnt from the experience.

Firstly I would like to say, Sonia is such a beautiful woman, she’s truly really inspiring but mostly I was struck by how kind and tranquil she was. She is insanely cool and I am still impressed by her outdoor swimming, and just also I really feel really indebted to her for showing us such a personal part of her life.

Peer has been so passionate about this, and he certainly impassioned me (is that a word) in this project, but to be honest, from the get go I was sold on the concept. Water is a subject of much mystery and it is beautiful to film so I’m very grateful he trusted me to be a cinematographer. He’s steady and heartfelt and I really enjoyed working with him. He is a fantastic director.

I was very glad to have Rosie alongside me in this project as a cinematographer, because I think it would’ve been incredibly hard to do it as a lone camera person. There was so much to capture! She did a great job and was fantastic to work with :)) Even with camera issues, we managed to get some really beautiful footage, and I’m really proud of how it looks, even tho we had possibly the easiest subject in terms of aesthetics ever!!

Bethany’s edit was really fantastic too, i feel she had an incredibly difficult task to do, and I do not envy her. We gave her SO MUCH FOOTAGE. Well done Bethany, it was so lovely working with you! Aisa joined us late, and what a great addition! She brings with her a sense of calm that I really enjoyed working alongside. :)) and Ben Mcmorran was a fanastic sound designer, he always seems very confident in what he’s doing, which is something I envy a lot! All comes with experience, but yeah, he does seem very steady. He gave the group a really nice energy too.

In the crit we were told to cut down on the voiceover which I entirely agree with and which Ben did, so the final piece has a lot of room to breathe. We were praised on the visuals, again I insist that the sea is very easy to film prettily! KJ also made a cool comment about body image, or in this case how we showcased body neutrality, which she liked, and I agree, I think it’s really important to acknowledge how our bodies are just vessels to live in! Thanks KJ :)

In short as a group I feel like we melded really well. Everyone had a really great attitude and I know we were all really invested (I do not get up at 5am for no reason let me tell you)!!

This film was one of my favourite things I’ve been a part of :))

So couldn’t sleep. Went to Twitter. I know bad combination. Ba’s are trying to say that even at Freds funeral that it was foreshadowing that Archie and Betty was meant to be. Because she was sitting next to Mary, I think they missed the whole purpose of that episode, which hear me out had nothing to do with any ships what so ever. But what do I know…. They also say that Betty letting Archie kiss Veronica shows growth as a adult and shows she’s secure in her loving relationship with Archie, which they are comparing too season 1 spin the bottle and season 5 key party….. so next let’s add that they think she will be moving in with Archie with in the next two episodes, because she’s there all the time already and that’s the next step in their relationship, which is the true epic romance of riverdale that they’ve been showing since season 1. Let’s move on to then next one, they claim that the interview of kj from paleyfest saying varchie we’re coming was for that kiss and kiss alone. Next the interview of Ras asked about bughead which he was hesitant because he’s not trying to give anything away, IMO anyway. They say he was hesitant because he knows there was bughead but it’s not what we think it is and when asked about barchie and jabitha he didn’t hesitate once. Well duh that’s the story they was trying to tell at the moment. The best one I saw was they want barchie to break up for a minute so they can cheat again and show us how much in love they truly are and how they can’t stay away from each other….. But here’s the thing durning my trip into the depths of hell. They never once talked about the super powers, the up coming Armageddon, how this is nothing like the riverdale that is normal. How nothing seems off about any character. The plot. Nothing. It’s silent on that front. It was all about how the show was showing their epic love story and we are blind and in denial because the writers have put in so much time and effort in showing the healthy relationships of barchie and jabitha that they wouldn’t ever take that back…. Yeah I thought you might get a laugh out of this. I sure did.

I think it's actually genuinely impressive how hard they are working to convince themselves that this is really real endgame material. If this were what I was given for endgame, I'd be pretty pissed. They are CONVINCED this is going to work out for them and there is NO WAY this is going to go wrong, when it seems to be that the show is planning an ultimate clown on them, and not being subtle about it. They're going to be pissed when they realize, but they shouldn't be, because this has been the way it's going all along.
