I've been hella busy actually writing my KuroFai Olympics fic for this year, right after a double whammy of term papers over the past three weeks, which is why I haven't said much ABOUT the KuroFai Olympics.

But I'm done writing and my posting date is tomorrow, so now I get to read all the other fics and look at all the extremely cool art people have been making for this year. <3

Which means I am going to be spamming you all with KuroFai content for the next few days!!! I'm so excited!!!

Tsubasa Chronicle Month 2023

- Day 10: KuroFai

"Hah," Kurogane laughs, incredulous amusement filling his chest (alongside a sense of curiosity that he pushes down and away because there’s just no way). "As if those skinny twigs you call arms could actually lift me up, mage. They’d snap in two if you even so much as tried."

Fai lifts an eyebrow at that. Takes a pointed sip from his saké cup. (Tomoyo muffles her giggles against her sleeve on his other side, though Kurogane ignores her.) 

"Is that so?" he says, too flat to be an actual question. Something in the back of Kurogane’s mind starts screeching loudly, something like a warning alarm, but he ignores that, too. 

Yes, the mage is strong, in more ways than Kurogane can count. 

But Kurogane has a full head in height over him, and more muscle weighing him down than Fai's nimble, wiry figure, so there’s no way he’s able to comfortably lift him without use of his vampiric strength (and that’s gone as far as they know) (unless the mage is keeping things from him again, though Kurogane doubts it. They're past that now). "Absolutely."

Fai looks at him, eyebrow still raised. "Alright," he says, and the smile on his face takes on a sharp edge. (The alarm in the back of Kurogane's head grows louder, more urgent). "If I can princess-carry you out of this room, Kurorin has to do as I say without complaint for an entire week. Sounds fair?"

Kurogane snorts, still confident in his assessment.

From the side, Tomoyo pipes up with a delicate, if pointed clearing of her throat. "And if Fai-san cannot? A bet should go both ways, afterall." 

Fai shrugs, smile going a touch softer as his eyes turn to her. "Then I do what Kurorin says without complaint for a week."

Tomoyo nods. "Fair enough."

"Since that's settled," Kurogane says with a roll of his eyes. Trust the damn mage and the damn princess to discuss this like some sort of treaty, instead of the random, pointless bet of the month it is. 

Before he can say anything more, Fai moves. 

And Kurogane's world tilts sharply.

Because they haven't even stood up.

No, Fai just. Shifted his weight, reached over and dead-lifted Kurogane like he weighs absolutely nothing. Kurogane's hands reach for the lapels of Fai's kimono before Kurogane can even process what's happening, in an unconscious bid not to fall over. 

But Fai's arms are steady around him, Fai's legs are steady under them as he stands bearing Kurogane's full weight and taking a step forward, and then another. And then continues to walk straight for the door. (He did day he would carry Kurogane out of the room. He seems like he'll carry him all the way across Shirasagi Castle to their rooms, fuck, okay.)

Tomoyo muffles a giggled "oh, my,", and Kurogane knows that the entire royal court will know this by morning. Fuck.

(And if his body reacts to the display of strength on the mage's part, and if his mind starts supplying all sorts of… scenarios in which to make use of this strength… 

Well, Kurogane's not going to volunteer that information.)

I was going to say just Watanuki but actually no: whole gang (including Doumeki and Himawari). They go out on picnic. Watanuki is mopping around per usual so Yuuko does this:

Something something he starts screaming but Yuuko deflects it. Then he sees Doumeki and Himawari observing him and talking so Watanuki an idiot starts hissing at Doumeki how this isn't shojo manga and he's not a male lead to flirt with female lead Himawari. Jokes on you boy it is shojo manga and Doumeki is male lead but I'm afraid Himawari isn't female lead but someone is.

NOTP:

Watanuki/Yuuko rly isn't my cup of tea. No bashing on ppl who ship then but I rly can't see their relationship in romantic light even though they're each other's most important person. Bc RIP to relationship hierarchy but your strongest bond doesn't have to be romantic by design

Also I joke about pathetic bastard malewife Clow pulling off best woman in universe but I really have nothing against ship actually. Bc I don't recall them even interacting in manga? 🤔 yes there are enough clues to indicate something was going on between them but how can I judge when I don't even know how their story went

Random headcanon:

Yuuko ships douwata I feel it in my heart. She also ships syaosaku and kurofai. Idk if Yuuko knows about ccs universe but if she knows about touyuki she ships it too. Only thing she doesn't ship is fuukam bc each time deliver boy Fuuma runs into Kamui deliveries are late by weeks

I did the tsubasa lotto and won 2 sets of the syaosaku rings but not the kurofai rings… I’m going to try again in a couple weeks when the kurofai mug is available, everyone wish me luck so I can get the kurofai wedding rings 🙏

For today’s Sherliam Week prompt I was desperately trying to think of another ship to write them as, and most just don’t feel right, but it has occurred to me that I could have a lot of fun with a KuroFai/SherLiam mashup. It would take me a lot longer than the hour per day I’ve allotted myself for this though, so we’re gonna do generic AU today and maybe revisit that idea later.

Favourite colour: any kind of teal or dark green, although I'm also partial to a nice burgundy.

Last song: I just listened to Børns' new EP, "Suddenly". Can't remember the title of the last track. (New Børns music? In MY 2023??? It's more likely than you think.)

Currently reading: Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg and On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. Both of them slowly and with lots of breaks because they hurt.

Last movie: I think it was Nimona (loved it!!) Either that or Metal Lords, can't remember which was more recent. I honestly really want to go out to see Barbie, maybe I can make it happen on Sunday.

Sweet/spicy/savoury: oh yes please! IDK is this a "if you could only pick one," a "fuck/marry/kill," or "your fave of each" type of situation? If I had to pick one, I'd go with savory. I have a sweeth tooth, but all the most addictive snacks are savoury and I'm a better cook than baker.

Currently working on: Oooo~ let's lie and say my term paper that's due in 2 weeks (which I'm writing about fanbinding!) instead of being honest and saying my fic since I got called up to pinch-hit for the @kurofai-olympics. (Which has the later deadline, everything's fine, shhhh.)
