Thinking about it now, I think an issue with Olm Town Road is that it focuses so much on Sasha that Anne is just sidelined, and it feels like there are moments where Anne should be doing something right along Sasha’s side as an equal but is instead left in the background. I also think Lysil and Angwin’s extended screen time was unnecessary, and that any doubts Sasha had about herself would be better used talking with Anne about it which would show their more healthy bond/communication.

I can't say I saw it that way or saw much issue with anything in Olm Town Road at my first watching or rewatch. (I think I am too fascinated by Proteus to really mind the extended screen time.) But it feels like a perfectly solid opinion to have.

I'm actually really curious if you have any ideas of what "talking with Anne" about Sasha's doubts would look like as an episode? Or was it just the general sense that Sasha would express those feelings to Anne to show the two's growth in communication?

i tried to make that scene in Dark hououmon’s Friends chap 41 where one of the olm twins picks her up to bring her to get medical treatment, and she’s just chilling and dozing. i actually kind of like it!

This was probably since I just rewatched Olm Town Road last night, but this is ironic. Sasha, who fought so hard to get Lysil and Angwin a second chance, couldn’t forgive Marcy. I know it’s already ironic because Sasha knows what it’s like to screw up and be forgiven.

And yet she herself has a hard time forgiving.

But then, after Anne helps her with forgiveness, we have one of my favorite Sasha moments in this episode.

Anne tells Olivia and Yunan that they are here for the music box, but it’s Sasha who adds ‘and Marcy’

y'all ever just think about how sasha initially wasn't ready to forgive marcy because she couldn't understand why marcy would've been driven to desperate measures and maybe having that refusal because she's not ready recognise herself within marcy's actions

like think about it. marcy tries so hard to keep her friends together by keeping the peace, its about playing peacemaker, its in a sense, pulling the hidden strings behind the scene to keep the play going, but its also not admitting to them how she feels about everything

marcy's whole thing is that she doesn't communciate - in a sense, just like the rest of them. she doesn't communicate how she feels, but because she buries those worries and it doesn't seem Obvious because she's flourishing in amphibia, of course sasha wouldn't see it

sasha has a running theme of only wanting to see what she wants. yeah she starts working on it in season 3a and b because of the TC moment, but she's STILL working on it - she's not going to be immediately better, its something she wants to and continues to work towards

we see it with lysil and angwin - she talks about how they deserve a second chance, but at the time, she's been told why they've been banished, but as far as she's aware - she STILL hasn't been told why marcy wouldn't have trusted or talked to them so isn't ready to forgive

so of course, its only when anne spells it out to her that she only really starts to understand, and when darcy blatantly tells her that can they even consider themselves friends - because really... can she? if she hadnt even realised how she'd neglected marcys feelings

and its only then when sasha gets it. because she'd been in the same position in s2 - she'd been lost and alone, far away from the other two and seeing how they both get on so well together and feeling left out, just like marcy will when she eventually moves and what did she do?

sasha tried in the only way she knew how to, to hold onto her friends, clinging on so tight that the friendships were broken within an iron grip

Sasha not forgiving Marcy is totally within her character.

For those of you who said she sounded hypocritical in ‘The Beginning of the End’, be honest with yourselves. If you’re in Sasha’s situation, would you really forgive your friend for getting you stranded in another world without your consent?

If your answer is “yes of course, because she’s my best friend”, then you’re missing the point.

Forgiveness is not something someone gives because they are blood-related or they’re someone important to them or it’s something that they deserve. A person forgives because they want to make peace with themselves... to set themselves free... to let go. And most importantly: because they truly want to. It’s not for the sake of others. It’s not an obligation.

I have heard people argue regarding her intense reaction to Lysil’s and Angwin’s predicament in ‘Olm Town Road’ and why, if she could be that passionate about shouting at Parisia to give those two olms (that she just met) a chance, couldn’t she give the same chance for Marcy when they’ve been best friends since forever?

And my thoughts on that is: the circumstance is completely different.

Marcy’s actions most likely hurt so much more than Sasha could ever admit. Actually, she even said it herself.

People were probably too preoccupied with the bitchy, manipulative Sasha to recognize the fact that she had suffered in her own ways too. And unlike Anne, she had no support on her journey. Only enabling her bad traits.

Remember what she’d been through. When she appeared near Toad Tower, Grime imprisoned her for who knows how long. She was able to survive because she was charismatic enough to befriend the guards and it all worked well in her favor. Yes, she was eventually appointed a high position next to Grime... but overall, she suffered most of the time. And she had to, for the sake of trying to find her friends.

She was put in a position where she had to forcefully grow strong and independent. It’s good for her, sure. But did she ever want that? In the first place, no. She’s the head of the cheerleaders, she’s a queen in her school, and she was an influence. And (you all like to say this) she’s a kid. Who would want to be put in a world where you have to act like an adult?

I admire Sasha for being honest about this because forgiveness shouldn’t be something that she should do for the sake of making sure that their friendship dynamic stays intact. She needs to really genuinely forgive Marcy. And with all the things she had been through, the doubt is understandable. You could say... it was Sasha’s “trauma”.

That’s why Anne’s speech was important. Not only did she learn to forgive Hop-Pop (where he inadvertently got her stuck in Amphibia longer than was supposed to by hiding the Calamity Box), but she also learned to acknowledge that she needs to make peace with herself. She can’t keep holding a grudge. It’s not good for her mental health. That’s what she wants Sasha to learn too.

And well, the good thing is, she did. She understood what Anne’s trying to say. However, even if she did agree with Anne, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she has automatically forgiven Marcy... but I know she’ll try her best (as she always do).

That’s... such a great development.

If it wasn’t for the 11-minute restriction, we could’ve had more pauses and more time for Anne and Sasha to talk about this. But even with this kind of restriction, it turned out okay anyway.

Anne: Oh, sorry for bringing that up. Lysil: It's fine, we're not proud of we did. Angwin: Well, maybe not with that newt family. Lysil: Oh olm, anything to shut them up! Angwin: They still kept arguing even after we ate them. Lysil: That's why you should chew. Angwin: You didn't either! Anne: So that's why Duckweed's relatives never arrived.

Oh wow! Even if Anne was lying about Duckweed's relatives, that'd definitely make the twins realize that even that one was bad! I can 100% see that being a conversation that actually happens!
