Amusement quirks the corners of plush lips, turquoise eyes glimmering with mako flickering to stare at the brunette. Zack's silent, momentarily of course, to gather his thoughts and figure out how to answer the question. The short answer, of course, is a resounding yes. He does dance, even if he weren't part of SOLDIER, where being limber and able to maneuver with ease was a necessity in the field, his mother had ensured that he'd be able to move from a very young age. Tawny fingers gently tap against his thigh, rhythmic in nature as was everything pertaining to Zack Fair and yet it wasn't a predictable beat.

A gentle hum rocks through his chest, rumbles deep within his throat much the same as a growl of warning with no bite to it, playful in nature. “ I do, ” He begins, lips curling into a toothy grin, sharp teeth fully displayed as though he were a wolf watching dinner and biding his time before diving in for the kill. “ But not the sort of dancing you're thinking, and definitely not any sort you're used to either. ” In all of Zack's time in Midgar, he's yet to find someone to dance with, or at least someone who kept up with him anyways. Clapping a hand against his knee, the raven haired man pushes himself into standing, offers a hand to the Turk with that same damn grin sat atop his features.

Muse A reaches in Muse B’s direction, just to offer them something, and Muse B flinches. They are both taken by surprise. - Squall and Seifer

Afterward, there are celebrations, parties, a whirlwind of events that the freshly-minted Commander of Balamb Garden couldn't escape even if he wanted to.

And, god, he wants to.

Which is why he's here, sitting on the furthest dock that he could get to without a boat of his own, in the dark, watching the party go on without him. Fireworks, music-- he can participate in it all from here, without having to actually participate. Or dance.

He's very tired of dancing.

"Well, well." A masculine voice, drawing every syllable in those two words out far enough to hurt. Heavy footsteps follow, setting the dock to tremble slightly.

Squall sighs, because of course nothing peaceful can last, and looks back over his shoulder. He's expecting anyone else-- Irvine, Zell. Nida, even.

He gets Seifer goddamned Almasy instead, standing there holding a six-pack of beer and a pizza that's already greasing through its thin white paper box, standing in the ray of moon like it's a spotlight just for him.

"Could it be? Commander Leonhart, in the flesh?" A grin, and his title rankles in Seifer's mouth, like something sour.

Squall sighs again, and shakes his head, moving to get to his feet. "I was just leaving."

"Nah, it's fine. Sit down." Seifer does just that, too, gracefully without trying, and drops the box of pizza between them, ripping one of the beers out of its plastic prison. "You playing hooky?"

He lets himself lower back down, hesitantly, and shrugs. Something in the water splashes-- he squints, trying to see, and can't.

"A man of many words. As always."

"Shut up."

Seifer snorts, sips his beer. "I see we're trying complex insults now."

Seifer hasn't offered, and Squall doesn't ask, just takes one of the cans for himself. It's cold, sweaty, probably from the gas station up the road where they don't ask for ID. It's also sour and too hoppy for his tastes; he grimaces and keeps drinking.

"What are you doing out here, anyway?"

It's Seifer's turn to shrug, an expansive motion. "I didn't get an invitation to the party." Obviously. It doesn't have to be said-- he can read between the lines.

"Yeah, well. Next time, don't start an international incident, and I'll get you on the guest list."

It's probably too early to joke about it, but Seifer laughs anyway, far too pleased to be genuine.

"I'll keep that in mind."

Silence follows, but it's not weird-- not companionable, but not weird. Which is interesting, considering that six months ago, they had been actively trying to kill each other. The first cans are empty faster than either of them probably expect; the pizza follows, and Squall doesn't realize how hungry he is until two slices vanish down his throat.

He pulls a couple more beers out of the rings, since it seems like fair game now, and reaches out to hand one to Seifer-- he jolts, like he's been startled (or shocked, Squall can't help but thinking.)

Both of them stay still for a moment, and he sets the can down on the weathered wood instead. Seifer waits until Squall's hand pulls back before he takes it, pops the tab, drinks.

"You good?" He regrets saying anything the second he does, but call it morbid curiosity. He's got a title, an office, more money than he'll ever be able to do anything with. Trauma. Sleepless nights. A sorceress girlfriend on a train back to Timber as they speak.

Seifer had gotten several months in the local prison, cooling his heels while Garden tried to figure out what to do with him. Trauma. A torn-apart knighting and a report in his file about maiming several inmates during his stay.

(It's why Garden took him back, keeps him on a short leash doing clean up work for basically no pay.)

Seifer stares at him like he's just spoken a different language, or grown an extra head; for a second, Squall thinks he might just shove him in the ocean for asking.

"--Yeah. I mean, this is bullshit," gesturing to his back, where there's a tiny scar and a tracking implant embedded deep, "but I mean... Better than being locked up."

A shrug. They're going to be fluent in shrugs by the end of this.

"What about you?"

He has to think about it, but eventually nods. Resists the urge to shrug again. Fails.

"Yeah. If you need anything..."

"I'll be fine, Leonhart."

"Okay."

They drink. Across the water, above the blue glow of Garden, fireworks explode.

Maybe it's the bloodloss speaking, maybe it's a mixture of the pain making him babble aimlessly in an effort to focus on something else — anything else, it's manifesting as grim questions tossed the other swordsman's way. He can't say for certain. One thing he is sure of, is for the first time in a long while, he's terrified.

Scared.

He knows it shows on his bloodied features, cast in splatters of cherry-hued scarlet, deathly pale skin the colour of sun-bleached bone. Squall's eyes are wide, his pupils unfocused, mirror-light eyes catching & holding tight on the space he thinks Seifer's are, lingering pleadingly as if his word alone could fix him, negate any of this & chase the reaper away. The thing that scares him the most is how familiar this all feels, that building panic that makes his heart drum away, beating so ferociously against his ribs like an imprisoned inmate. He can't reason it away, no form of internal logic soothes it down, & all he can do is tremble in place with chilled fingers & try to ignore the spiking chill that kisses at the nape of his neck like ice.

He's died before. This feels close to it — he isn't sure he can do it again. If he can come back a second time.

He clamps his jaw shut tight, teeth making a sharp sound in the strained tension of the infirmary room, as he curls his fingers restlessly in the blonde's hold. Squall's grip tightens when rustling is heard, muffled voices coming in closer, cutting through the small protective bubble of privacy with an urgency that makes his stomach sink.

He isn't sure if he babbles out that he's dying out loud, but the almost hysteric bark of wet laughter makes his chest ache.

An odd smile sits atop his usually bright features, Zack's lips pursed awkwardly simply because he knows he's in trouble and it's deserved well enough. Some thoughts needed to stay in his head, ( like calling your partner a brat for no reason, good going Fair. ) and seeing the brunette drinking his coffee quite loudly was enough of a reason to stay away. Unfortunately though, Zack Fair wasn't a man that followed logic because if he were, he wouldn't be in this situation at all.

“ Starlight... ” He begins a bit awkwardly, though there's nothing but remorse in his tone, “ I'm sorry for calling you a brat, you're the furthest thing from one. ” Zack doesn't expect an answer, really he's expecting to be ignored and honestly? He deserved it, knowing one's audience was important when making jokes after all and feels guilty purely because it wasn't really a funny remark to make to begin with. “ I'll uh... leave you to your coffee now, just remember that I adore you and if you need anything I'll probably be in the training room. ”

There are also mentions of existentialism, depression, child soldiers  &  darker, more mature themes revolving around death & memory loss. G E N E R A L .

❏           MAINS / EXCLUSIVES - GENERAL ( … ) I do practice Mains  —  but rare is it I practice Exclusives. A main is someone whose lore is greatly tied with & heavily influences my own, therefore, they will have their interactions prioritized first. Anyone that’s been a mutual for a long enough, has written with me or talked a fair amount out of character can ASK to be my Main  &  are more then welcome to tie-in or take from my lore for their own muse if we have Verses developed.

❏           WORLD-BUILDING ( … ) I will always try to adhere to another’s world-building in the event it’s preferred over following my own. I do feel there should be some talk beforehand & some compromises in case lore conflicts or clashes, but I usually try to nudge Squall into whoever I’m interacting with’s lore for my writing partner’s comfort.

❏           DRAMA ( … ) I don’t participate in drama. I avoid involving myself unless it’s genuinely serious — such as a writer displaying behaviours that are dangerous ( obsessive / going out of their way to stalk or harass others, homophobia / transphobia / racism / pedophilia ). In those cases, I will reblog a call out post with the intention of informing others, but nothing more. If the situation calls for it, I will make an informed decision privately  &  decide whether or not I will cease interactions.

❏           SOFTBLOCKING ( … ) I usually go on a softblocking spree once a month to clear out archived / inactive blogs & blogs I can’t see myself interacting with in the future. It’s nothing personal & if there is interest in interacting again in the future, I fully support re-following!

❏           HARDBLOCKING ( … ) I usually only hardblock when I want to completely cut ties with someone. However, if there ever is any sort of issue between me & another writer, if it’s a situation where I feel comfortable enough — I will try to explain beforehand why I am cutting contact before hardblocking. I fully support curating one’s own space, so I support needing to break Mutuals in any way to ensure your blog space is a safe place. While communicating is still a skill I am learning, I want to do better moving forwards with this, & want to practice being transparent with writing partners.

❏           REGARDING TWINS ( … ) I love Duplicates / Twins! I am always willing to make a twin / sibling verse or create one for Mutuals who share the same muse. I’m a firm believer that each portrayal is different, unique to the mun writing them  &  bringing them to life, so please know that my blog is safe to poke for twin shenanigans or to follow.

❏           REGARDING MULTIMUSE’S / OCS ( … ) I am Multimuse & OC friendly! Though for Original Characters, while I am open to interactions, I am selective  —  please have an about page / post / Google doc available to look over as it helps me tremendously in learning about your muse!

❏          GODMODDING ( … )  I don’t mind my muse being manhandled / injured / wounded, but please allow me to write my muse’s reactions in turn. If I ever do plan to take a thread in a more violent direction, I will message you beforehand to make sure it’s alright  —  I expect this in return. which one of your muses has the most ships?

I am going to assume you're asking about ships I have partook in. I do not really involve myself in the fandoms I roleplay (like forums, twitter, reading fanfictions or watching videos), so I wouldn't know what people outside of my own sphere of involvement ship. Anyways with this premise...

I believe Sephiroth is the one I have written the most ships with. Which is not a lot, if you can believe it? Most of my RP partners haven't gotten to ship with me because of how slow I am in my approach to chemistry building.

With Sephiroth I have at least two ships established, which is my highest record for a single muse so far. I know, not a lot. Told you I'm Mr. Slow Burn!
