#he like. shows up at the paradise after winslow blows up the car during rehearsal and swan humors him at first #because he's just a disheveled silly little man so how dangerous could he be? #cut to a few days later when swan goes to his secret video room only to find columbo already casually sitting in there and smoking a cigar #the whole time swan is TRYING to do his charming manipulation routine that he uses on everyone but this is columbo we're talking about #I can just imagine the look on swan's face when columbo asks why he's got bodyguards & guys mixing mortar outside a seemingly useless door #phantom of the paradise #columbo

Honestly, Roxy having a special interest in horses and then finding actual animatronic horses in storage is so wholesome to imagine. She's in awe. They wake up and they're just excited to see her as she is to see them. She's living the absolute dream and she deserves it

What show did ya perform?

oh, its a polish play called "moralność pani dulskiej" (tn: morality of mrs. dulska) :3 its about this family, where the eldest son gets the housekeeper pregnant and a bunch of shenanigans ensue because of it. the aunt stirs up drama/tries to help with the whole shitshow (sorta), the mother (titular mrs. dulska) pretends she doesnt see whats going on (until she cant anymore) and tries to save her reputation, one daughter loves the drama and is stirring up shit left and right, the other is convinced the housekeeper and her brother are gonna get married (believes in true love and all that), mr. dulski basically doesnt give a shit about the whole thing (he has one line for the whole 3 acts where he basically tells the whole family to fuck off) and everyone is sorta trying to handle the situation as best as they can. like i said, hilarity ensues.

at one point everyone is convinced they ARE gonna get married (something the son decides to do WITHOUT asking the housekeeper if she wants to and does it just to spite his mother)

anyway the housekeeper finally snaps after 3 acts of being pushed around and asks for 1000 koron (which, idk who much that is exactly in PLN or in any other currency, but i assume its a shit ton) as finantial compensation and fucks off :)

the nice thing about having an abiding problem with perfectionism is that once we get past the Not Good Enough Depressions, we hit Rage Against Incompetence which is generally much more enjoyable

I think itd be funny if Tate and Lisa couldn't actually communicate telepathically or could only in a limited capacity, just them rehearsing a bunch of call and return lines during their free time and then they're forced to actually have a social interaction that lasts longer than a couple minutes and you can taste the violence in the air as one of them says smth the other wasn't expecting or that they don't know how to finish

#rat rambles #I dont have a pkm tag uh. idk Im not making one (yet) #anyways sorry Ive been playing pkm masters ex lately and after committing myself to the bit of getting liza to 5 stars Ive started thinking #abt them #anyways in my minds eye theyve been trying to commune telepathically ever since they started more actively training their powers #and it frustrates the hell out of them that they cant fkfmfkdh #they can form a mental connection but since they arent rly verbal thinkers it takes enough effort for them to force words to their thoughts #that maintaining that connection becomes much more difficult for them #so they mostly act off of rehearsed stuff and intuition which usually works well enough #one thing they can do is share imagery with eachother so one thing theyve been trying to do is learn sign language as a work around #its had mixed results but hey at least now they can properly communicate without speaking. kind of. ish. #they can also like float and create minor illusions and stuff but they mostly only actively practice those in the space facility #anyways yes this is all based on that pkm masters story where tate and liza talk on the phone to keep in contact while seperated

oh my god i am so thankful for the fact that i'm finally getting to produce my original musical (other girls!! opening in boston on november 5th, proshoot will be online in spring 2023!!) with a cast and crew that is truly giving their all in every aspect of this production. like these characters have just been my ocs, my blorbos from my brains, for the past 3 years and now i'm getting to see some of the most talented actors i've ever met bring them to life and add new perspectives i hadn't considered before and it's just a truly magical experience. and the fact that i haven't even met some of these people irl yet is wild im so happy we've been able to do a month of quality character building rehearsals over zoom and now we're going to start filming for the multimedia parts of the show in just over 3 weeks!!!

anyway ik my followers probably have no idea what i'm talking about (if you ever want more info about this show just ask bc i'm super proud of it and i love sharing the script with people) but i'm just so excited to be able to finally share this deeply personal story with the world and also to showcase all my extremely talented friends who are making this happen. whether this show gets a million views or two views i'll always count it as the beginning of my comedy career

#infodumping this to tumblr bc my producer and i literally spent like an hour after tonight's rehearsal complimenting each other #and talking about how much we love our cast #and also like. this is such a strange show. there's so many comedic moments (bc i am a comedian first) but also #there's a lot of serious moments bc the show is about social anxiety and depression and it's based on my real experience as a teenager #so in addition to being cathartic it's been such a great feeling finding actors who can portray that mix of comedy and drama #that this story needs #i've always been someone who has trouble honestly expressing myself bc i'm often anxious about how others perceive me #so making this show about this struggle and making it as honest as possible even if it's strange and messy #and finding actors who relate to these conflicts and care about getting this story out there #this is the most important thing i have done in my life so far and im so thankful to everyone who makes it possible

Me: Ugh, trying to get through a full first draft of something is impossible, shouldn't some of this be usable, why is almost all of it so BAD. Surely if I were fairly decent at writing, it would be mostly okay with a need for some revisions.

Some corner of my brain: When you're starting out with a new aria or song, is your vowel or register placement automatically correct? Is it performance-ready the first time you sing through it? Or do you have to work at it and fine-tune individual measures? When you're first learning a piece, is it easy? Of course not! You have to keep chipping away at it to get a finished thing you're happy with, and that takes time and many separate efforts.

Me: ...Did you...did you actually make a good, helpful point just now?

#I don't think this has ever happened before #I don't know what to do with an actual valid piece of advice that came from ME #i know i know Do The Scary Thing Anyway etc. etc. #HOPING the Insurance Updates won't take very long and that The Condition™ will allow me to stay conscious enough to write today #because it didn't yesterday :( #(beyond like...a sparse couple of sentences that I might not even use) #(thinking about how many times I had to rehearse 'borrowed time' to chest-voice that last note) #(because putting it in mixed voice just did NOT pack the emotional resonance I wanted and was also a bit too weak for my taste) #(mainly because it's in the belt-mix break which is. not a fun place to be register-wise)
