I honor of Monza 2019 anniversary, a little thinking about how actually THAT win changed everything
I still remember all the monza 2018 emotions, the slightest hate on Charles from Tifosi because “how can a young driver bring Ferrari back to its best? We need experienced drivers, it has always been like that”, so signing a so young driver after only half a season and in the place of last Ferrari champion was… a lot, not appreciated. But since Bahrain everyone could have seen Charles was fighting FOR Ferrari, not for himself (he was also fighting THAT Ferrari but well let’s forget about Bahrain). Spa happened just the week before and the general aura was “he deserved a better first win”, but in true Ferrari fashion everything has to be a little sad anyway, so it was a general happy/sad/what emotion should we feel. The quali mess made everyone forgot about Ferrari starting on pole honestly, and there was a general optimism but not so much, superstitions or not, we didn’t want to cheer (maybe 2018 scarred us? Yeah)
But omg the final laps. I was pacing my home as crazy, every tifosi was on edge, the cheer for every missed overtake from merc guy could be heard from kilometers, no one could believe in a home win after 9 years of hell. In the same day when Michael won his first Monza in red. It was not a coincidence, it was a crown passage. But I think that only NOW we can understand how much that win changed everything. In that moment it was the best home win, but I think it was the point that confirmed everything. The love from tifosi to Charles, even the more skeptical ones started to think “this is the man that can bring us up again”, and for Charles was the confirmation “I don’t want to win with another team that is not Ferrari”. Because if Charles brainwashed us believing he’s predistened to help Ferrari out of this mess, that podium definitely brainwashed Charles in not wanting anything else that is not the red team. I don’t think you can find any other emotions comparable to win as a Ferrari driver in monza, NOTHING. So if u want to blame something for the Charles not leaving Ferrari, I think you should blame Monza 2019. Because it didn’t change only the tifosi love, that even after 4 years didn’t fade, but also convinced Charles that no win can compare to tifosi love and appreciation. And every time he’s in Italy and he’s being reminded of that, showered with love from an entire nation, he knows he can’t leave that behind. If he wins the championship, it HAS to be with THAT amount of love. He can’t settle for less, it won’t be as magical as with the red crowd❤️

“One of the first to congratulate Ferrari's Charles Leclerc after his Monza win last year (2019), was Checo Pérez. The Mexican was genuinely happy for the Monagasque.” — kymillman

sometimes my mind goes to monza 2019, and i still think we don't talk enough about what charles achieved there. as the broadcaster said "mercedes threw everything at him" that day and "charles leclerc coped brilliantly", "he won in spa and he won in monza" due to his own driving skill, his resilience, and strength. with a car that was better than the current one but not at all on the same level as the mercedes one that year. wearing his heart on his sleeve and going there winning our home race with pure passion.
i'm really really sorry for people who brush off charles work and talent, people who can't understand the complexity that it is to be a ferrari driver. most people doubt him because they can't understand why he is at ferrari to begin with and all i can do is to feel sorry for those.
when i said that to me charles is already great, i meant it. things like monza 2019 are something that only the greats achieve. i'm a tifosi through and through but that win was and still is the biggest satisfaction i had as a fan of this sport. charles is really my driver.

monza gp 2019 - 9,99999999/10 it wouldve been an even ten but fucking everyone bearing down on seb constantly pissed me off anyways BABY WON IN MONZA my god this race was everything ngl, starting with mayhem all the time, max doing fastest laps from.p20 and almost taking out checo in lap 1, penalties everywhere, kimi, seb, stroll, alex, all in first five laps, all the dnfs, exceeding track limits, all of that was hillarious, but the most important thing was how fucking WONDERFULLY charles drove, holding off lewis constantly, being absolutely lovely, at the start, the overtake on hulkenberg in the parabolica, hitting the chicanes perfectly (except that one apex after the lockup but thats forgiven) im just IN LOVE w how he drove the whole time, and the best thing is hes just gotten fucking better, because that was some insanely smart driving and hes just gotten so much better and im just 🥺. i love this, i screamed so much when he won (HE WON IN SPA HE WINS IN MONZA), screamed at the overtakes, screamed at how BRILLIANTLY he drove, and ngl i whimpered a little at his interview bcs he is so KIND and he loves the team so much and he hugged every single person in the team and im just. i needed this after the day i've had so thank you @dobbiamo-capire for mentioning this as your fave race and giving me the idea, i am so happy and so in love w this race imma watch it again definitely 🥰❤️
heres a pic of sharl bcs i love him and hes adorable

I was rewatching the 2019 season and Monza still gives me goosebumps, but as an Italian what was the vibe during that whole week? When Charles got pole and all of that, like I remember I was crying and I'm not even Italian, so please tell us about the vibe back then?
Good morning to you anon😭 idk if you’re the same anon from the other day but apparently you want to make me break my heart in the morning💛
So… it was really surreal. Because I was fresh from 2018 vibes, the all “he’s too young to be offered a contract”, general skeptical/negative vibes about Charles in Ferrari, but after Bahrain, second race in, I saw grown men crying for that missed win. So imagine the vibe and the HOPES after his first win in Spa straight to Milan and be welcomed as a home hero even back then. But yeah after winning OUR gran prix after all those years… it was a party. A really symbol of joy and hope and no doubt that was the moment even the more skeptical ones that stayed like that even after spa win, definitely fell in love with him. And he made front page news kinda thing, it was BIG, a Ferrari winning at home with “il predestinato”, the one that is predestined to bring Ferrari back on top. Idk if it’s superstitions or popular believes or whatever, but that made him know even in non-f1 fans and just made them believe again after Shumi. And no, neither Alonso or Vettel, even if close to the title, gave the same “hope” as Charles did just winning the home gp. Because it was more that just a win, just a trophy, it was like an incoronation, the hearts of all italians are his now

why don't you share your brilliant study strategy with the class?
but it's just me re-playing monza 2019 gp in my room and solving calculus questions because there's nothing like "he won in spa, he wins in monza" to distract you from the headache of not understanding maths!!
