Lucky One
Summary: Shiroe can’t help but prove his love for his wife in the cutest, dorkiest of ways that leaves his wife breathless and slightly embarrassed. But overall, it’s the sweetest gesture that she’s ever received. Even if it was a little bit much.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff
(( Wrote this little fic based off of a convo with @self-shipping-angel and it was too cute not to write about. Just a little bit of inside jokes and a little meta stuff that I thought was appropriate and cute lol ))
There was something peaceful about an empty guildhall during the cool autumn days that Violet seemed to enjoy the most out of all of the days of the year. The way that it was calm and almost serene, with soft light peaking through the windows and the cool wind blowing through a few that were partially open. It was a beautiful day to spend outside in the sun, or inside with a good book which was what she had intended to do. The rest of the guild, however, was out enjoying the beautiful afternoon together.
She thought about accompanying them whenever Sayeko suggested going with her and Naotsugu to get some food, but Violet preferred the idea of getting some reading done by herself. The thought of having some food was tempting, though, fleeting through the kitchen first to grab a quick snack before trotting into the main hall to get comfortable. Which was pretty easy to do since there were lots of spots available, and she was able to stretch out to the fullest with a thin blanket over her legs.
Once she was comfortable with her book resting on her legs, she relaxed in the cushions of the couch and let out a deep sigh. It felt amazing to have this moment to herself, cracking open a book that Shiroe had recommended for her a few months back that she was finally getting around to. There was even a cute little note inside that she kept, smiling at as she turned the page, letting her know that he was thinking of her with this one.
She really loved the little tradition that they had started for each other of passing books back and forth, talking about them once they had finished. Sharing their mutual love of literature and finding that they had a lot more in common than they initially thought with their tastes. It was also just a fun pastime that they could enjoy, that was a hobby they both enjoyed, and that Shiroe almost rarely gets to enjoy that isn’t work related most days.
With a small giggle, she turned the next few pages and began reading silently to herself. The cool air made it easy for her to ease into the position, finding the right amount of light to have a perfect inbetween for her to read. It was absolute paradise, and she was happy in her element. It had been a long time since she’s been able to really sit down for a long time and enjoy a book like this. That isn’t to say that she’s never been able to read anything at all since she’s been here, but a lot of the time she’s not able to focus much. Whether that be because of being busy, having a lot of members around to distract her, or just finding it hard for her brain to relax enough for it.
Today, though, she was determined to change that and it was seeming to work out a lot better than she had planned.
Time seemed to pass by rather slowly, wrapped up in the book so much that she started to forget exactly how long she had been there for. She turned page after page, staying in that same position unmoving for what seemed like hours. The entire time was spent uninterrupted as she cuddled further underneath the blanket, reaching out only to turn pages and only barely moved otherwise.
She didn’t even notice the few bodies that walked by, a few of the kids coming in and back out having to return for only a moment. A few of them had shouted to her, knowing that she was probably too distracted to hear. It had finally been the focus that she had been wanting, though maybe a little bit more than she had intended. Either way, she was enjoying the book and its contents, absorbed into it with a good chunk of it already read.
A few more minutes past, and another person made it into the room without her being aware. Instead of passing by like the others had, they lingered a bit and watched her for what seemed like only a few minutes. She still wasn’t distrubed, turning a page and yawning a bit into her hand. There was a soft pat from her tail that thumped back down onto the couch as a reaction, cutely curling against her only slightly exposed from underneath the blanket.
The one watching her chuckled a bit, noticing that she probably hadn’t seen him and was too distracted to notice. Shiroe smiled as he watched her curled in a comfortable place, cutely twirling at the ends of her hair while she read silently. There was always something so beautiful about the way that Violet’s eyes shined with interest as she read that he always enjoyed. He could watch her for hours just like this if she’d let him.
As she read, he took the two cups of tea that he had in his hands for each of them and set them down on the table in front. There was still steam rising from both cups, one only partially drank from in his personal cup. With a soft tap to her legs, he gently whispered down to her as his lips curled into a deeper smile. She looked taken aback at first, but was very happy to see him out and about. There was a broad smile that he found the most beautiful on her pink colored lips.
He leaned down to give her a quick kiss on the cheek, before sitting down beside her now that she had moved her legs to allow him room. It wasn’t the least bit disappointing for her, knowing that this meant she would get to spend time with him. Something that was a bit more harder to come by now that he’s been busy most afternoon’s. Any time with him that she can get is one that she will take advantage of, knowing that it’s the best moments of her life.
“Hey baby,” She said with her book still open on her lap, “What brings you out here already?”
There was a hint of a giggle under her breath that he caught only the tail end of, keeping a gentle eye on her.
“I had a little bit of time to spare… wanted to see how your reading was going. You look really comfortable over here, and I figured I’d bring you some tea.”
“Awh… you’re too sweet, love! Thank you!”
She leaned forward, taking a break from her reading to take a sip of the warm tea he had provided for her. It was very delicious, much like every time that he makes tea for them. There was always a sense of warmth and safety that she felt when enjoying a cup of tea with him. With each sip she felt the warmth spread throughout her throat and chest, still holding the book close to her but continuing her conversation with him first.
Shiroe had a gentle hand against her lower back, rubbing gently with such care and gentleness in his eyes. “You’re welcome, Sweetheart,” He said and motioned to the book in her hand, “You seem to be enjoying the book that I gave you, huh?” There was a sweetness to his words that worked well with the smile that never seemed to leave him. He was both happy to see her enjoying the book, but then equally happy to see his beautiful wife.
“I am! It’s really really interesting, and you were right. I really am liking it way more than I thought that I would.”
“That’s good, I’m glad to hear that. Sometimes it pays to get a little out of your comfort zone from time to time,” He responded, watching her lips curl into a smirk.
“I’m sure you’d know a lot about that, huh, love.”
She giggled, seeing his eyebrow furrow as she leaned up and placed a gentle kiss against his lips.
There was a soft hint of redness to his cheeks, cutely burning brighter the closer that she got. It was always a sight to see even now after they were already married, always enjoying how easily embarrassed he was. It was one of the things that she loved the most about him, and she definitely liked to use it to her advantage sometimes.
He stammered a little bit as a reaction, unable to speak in a cute familiar way that she liked. With one last nuzzle with her nose against his cheek, she leaned back in her spot and placed her legs across his lap. There was a familiar silence between them, enjoying their tea together and basking in the comfortability of the moment together. Just existing as two people in their own respective spaces, yet together all the same.
“So,” She spoke up softly, “How’s your work going, baby?”
“It’s going okay… I think that Marielle took advantage of my help to take the load off of her for a bit this week.”
She giggled, watching him sigh and lean against the couch with his eyes tiredly still following hers.
“That’s not really all that surprising,” She mumbled as he nodded, “I’m sorry my sister is… well she’s lazy. Just like me.”
There was a louder giggle that escaped that caused the man to smile wider, unable to stop staring at her. His eyes had been locked since the moment that he entered the room, knowing that there was nothing else that he would rather look at. Violet was easily the most beautiful and adorable person in the room, and in any room for that matter. Didn’t matter where they were, because in his eyes she could outshine anything. Ever since the moment that they met, he knew that she was special.
“She’s way lazier than you are, actually.”
“Bullshit! I literally sat there and slept all day yesterday when it was my day for chores.”
“Not all day… like… pretty sure you slept until I came to get you a little bit late into the afternoon, but you got everything done. Marielle will do anything she can to avoid it.”
“I mean… you’re right. She’s more hide so she doesn’t have to do it, while I just forget and sleep and have to have someone come get me to keep me on track.”
Shiroe laughed, keeping his hand resting on her leg as it bounced a little when she spoke.
Violet leaned over to set the book down on the table, unable to focus now that he was sitting beside her. But she wasn’t upset by this at all, in fact, she was really happy that it was him who had interrupted her. Shiroe was the one person she was looking forward to seeing today, and she was definitely going to soak in that excitement for as long as she could.
The small little tilt of her head as she laughed back, watching him slowly with her eyes absorbing his features now. Taking in his handsome face, finding all the more reason to fall deeper in love with him with just one continuous glance. It was impossible not to be floored by how absolutely lucky she was that he was hers. Such a wonderful, handsome, and adorable man that she was lucky to be so madly in love with.
“How in the hell do you deal with me and my crazy family?” She asked with a small giggle.
Shiroe, with his hands reaching up to brush her hair away from her face, could barely hear anything after the giggle cut through his ears. All he could think about in that moment was how much he loved every single thing about her. The softness of her skin that was almost glowing in the light, and the sparkle in her blue eyes that seemed to shine brighter every time that she smiled. Beautiful and strong, just like he knew that she was.
“I love you and your crazy family… I can tell how much you two care about each other. And you’re so freaking alike that it’s crazy.”
She giggled, feeling him brush his knuckles against the side of her face as his hand fell.
“But I’m just lucky to know you more than anything.”
Violet blushed brightly, reaching for his hand and taking it in her own. It felt warm and slightly rough, but still somewhat soft as she squeezed gently.
“I’m luckier, though,” She responded with her smile brighter than it’s been prior.
Shiroe shook his head, whispering a quick reply and watching her continue to deny it as he did so.
“I’m sorry, but it’s true. There is no way in hell that I am not the luckiest of the two. I mean, fucking look at you-” She grabbed a hold of the side of his face, grinning widely as her nose nuzzled against his, “My handsome baby.”
The man’s cheeks were a brighter red now, but he was determined to fight her on it. Even through the embarrassment of her actions, there was still a little bit of pull as he continued. Grasping her hands, he tried to pull her just a little bit in a gentle way.
“That’s sweet, baby, but I can say with confidence that I’m the luckiest man in the world just to have you as my wife. And I’m willing to prove it to you.”
“Oh? You’re gonna prove it to me, huh?”
She giggled, looking at him curiously.
Shiroe nodded, giving her a small squeeze of her hand before he pushed himself up off the couch. With a lift of her brows, she curiously watched him rush off rather quickly into the other room, leaving her behind to wonder where the hell he was going. It was the better part of a few minutes that she sat there in waiting, her eyes staying near where he had left and taking slow sips of her tea.
After that silence, she finally saw him reappear pulling back what seemed to be a rather large whiteboard that she didn’t think she'd seen before. Then again, this man always seems to have new things lying around the guildhall for whatever it is he’s planning next. Her brows furrowed in confusion, watching him set everything up, including a couple of things behind her that she followed the entire time. It was quite the show, leaving her giggling just a bit and trying to get his attention, though it failed.
Tilting her head a bit, she watched him finish and adjust the sleeves of his shirt, finally catching her attention once again. There was a cute smile on his face, and she was honestly entertained by the image alone. It was hard for her not to laugh at the display that he was really confident about it seemed, and she was also confused as hell where he got all this shit from.
“Uh… baby… what are you doing?” She asked.
“I said I was going to prove it to you. And as it happens, I have this little slideshow to show you all the reasons why I am as lucky as I am.”
Violet’s eyes widened, and she watched him turn on the projector that was behind her and above. It was a little confusing considering she had now idea they even had one here, but then again she really shouldn’t have been. Everyone seems to have random things pop up from time to time, and right now this wasn’t the weirdest thing that she’s seen. Though, it definitely was the weirdest thing she’s seen from her husband.
The cutest part of all of this having to have been the fact that this man, the same shy man that she had met a long time prior to this, is the one with this display. The way that he’s come so far was the sweetest part of it all.
“O...Okay, sure. Lay it on me, I guess,” She said with a giggle rippling through her chest.
“Don’t worry. You can try and contest anything that I say after we’re done. But I promise, it’s gonna be too foolproof.”
With a small and playful wink in her direction, he turned back towards the slideshow he had prepared to start it off. Violet was still giggling softly, leaning forward in her seat knowing that she didn’t want to miss this. It was entertaining, and she was losing her mind at the thought of how long he had this under wraps. This man seemed to be way more excited than she expected, though it was the cutest thing that she had ever seen.
She watched him burn through the slides, impressed by how thorough that he was. Lots of bullet points and even photos that she partially wondered how he even had access to those in the first place. A lot of this slowly started to unravel on that end, but she tried not to think too much about it and just enjoy the moment that she was witnessing. This was probably the most animated she’d ever seen the man (the most animated that Shiroe could be) and it was a joy to witness.
The examples that he had were making her redder and redder, of course. Just the mention of how beautiful that he thought she was, going into great detail about every part of her that he found the most gorgeous. Each example leaving her more and more flustered, unable to stop giggling through it all. The way that he just couldn’t stop talking about her, which shouldn’t be surprising considering how close they were, but she just couldn’t wrap her head around it. The way that he just had so much to say about her?
It didn’t seem to make a lot of sense, but he was good at convincing with that cuteness.
The clock ticked by over an hour after he was finally nearing the end, concluding the presentation that he had about her with even more detail. A lot of it being mentions of how happy and excited he was to be married to her, giving a list of reasons why they were perfect together. Everything that had her tearing up a little bit, seeing an image of their wedding day that was absolutely breathtaking. The happiness that radiated from it was one that she remembered almost like it was yesterday.
“And that about sums it all up,” He mumbled, “Got any questions, concerns for me?”
Violet giggled, glancing up at him and seeing the smile along with the raised brows.
She could tell that not only did he actually mean that, but he went through so much trouble to put this all together. Partially to probably get a laugh out of her, but also to show that he was willing to do this to prove to her how much he loved her. How happy and lucky that he felt to be with her, knowing that it was going to be a gesture to make her fall harder than ever. If that was even possible to do.
Without a second thought, she pushed off the couch and tossed the blanket off to the side, setting her now empty tea cup on the table. Shiroe half expected to get a playful punch for his display, chuckling a little bit as she approached with that smile on her face. Though, what he didn’t expect was for her to lean up, taking his face into her hands and pressing the soft palms against either side of his cheeks.
“You are… the sweetest and cutest thing that I have ever seen in my life,” She said, pulling him in for a deep kiss.
The man’s eyes widened just a bit with surprise, but slowly melted into her touch all the same. With his arms wrapping around her middle, he closed his eyes and kissed her back with the same softness returned. Immediately being hit with the warmth of her embrace, along with the lovely lavender scent that hit his senses. Overwhelming him and reminding him of just one of the many points that he had made for the day.
Violet continued to hold him tight, pressing kiss after kiss against his soft lips and benign unable to pull away. All that she wanted to do was to hold him there, never wanting to let him go for anything.
That display was truly the sweetest thing that she had ever seen, and he deserved all of the attention in the world right now. Even though she might not have any retort to that, it definitely wouldn’t be the last time that she would fight him against this small, simple fact. Because believe it or not, this gesture alone proves to her that she is indeed the lucky one.

A New Place
Tumblr media
Summary: The family has a lunch date planned together after the hustle and bustle of daily life. Although, Shiroe has a pretty big surprise waiting for Ashley and the twins instead of just lunch.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff, fankids
((Note: This was just a little domestic thing that I thought up in my head. I just get really sentimental about this stuff, and I really needed to write this moment. Because it’s just too perfect! My original timeline was a little different than this, but I decided that this worked a lot better anyway!))
My phone was ringing constantly, and I was struggling to get the twins situated in their car seats. Ariana was rambling off to me and trying to get my attention, and I was trying to answer her while also settling the phone between my shoulder and my ear. I knew that I was running behind, but with the twins had both gotten out of school early, it was a huge mess. The main was still cluttering my passenger seat, and my purse was tossed into the backseat for Sage to reach in for his game.
“Baby, I’m sorry,” I began, making sure the twins were both strapped in, giving Ariana a kiss on the forehead and shutting the door, “I’m on my way right now. Had a little situation at the house.”
“It’s alright, sweetheart. Take your time, okay? I’ll still be here when you get here.”
Shiroe’s chuckle was comforting, but it didn’t stop me from feeling bad that I was late. We had plans to meet up for lunch as a family after work, and I knew that he was already there. Had been for about half an hour now. That didn’t make me feel very good about the whole situation.
“Where exactly am I meeting you again?” I asked once I was settled into the passenger seat.
“Right around the corner from the cafe, there’s a new restaurant that just opened up about a month ago. Figured we could do something new for a change.”
“Oh, that’s nice. As long as it’s got something Sage will eat.”
I chuckled, noticing he didn’t hear me from the back seat now that his eyes were glued to the game in front of him.
Setting my phone down on the dashboard, I connected it to my car to make it more accessible for me to talk to him. I glanced back at the twins to make sure they were good and comfortable, blowing a kiss to Ariana who waved at me with a big smile on her face.
“I’m sure there’s something he’ll like.”
“Hey Daddy!” Ariana chirped, hearing his voice.
“Hey princess! How was your day?”
“Good!”
I chuckled, starting the car and getting myself situated in the front seat.
Telling Shiroe about the rest of my own day as well, I let Ariana chime in every now and again. There was a lot that she wanted to tell him, and it was pretty easy for him to hear with her loud voice. Something that she gets from me. It was easy for me to sit back and listen to her chat, glancing in the rear view mirror at her adorable face.
The drive was pretty short, though the closer that I got I became a little more confused. There didn’t seem to be a restaurant from what I saw. The only thing I noticed when driving was the cafe that Shiroe and I usually go to a lot.
“Hey baby, I don’t see a restaurant. Are you sure I went the right way?” I asked.
“Yeah, yeah. I think I see your car.”
He directed me where to go, and before I knew it, I saw him on the sidewalk waving us down. I found a place to park, staring at him with furrowed brows.
Ariana was beside herself, excited when he opened the door to help unbuckle her seat and kiss her a couple times on her forehead. She wasted no time in jumping into his arms, squeezing her arms around his neck into a hug.
“Shiroe, what’s going on?” I asked, sensing that something was off.
“You’ll see.”
He smirked a little bit in my direction, allowing me to get Sage out of the car still practically confused.
It wasn’t like him to do something like this, and I could only imagine a lot of different scenarios in my head. There was some kind of mischief in his eyes, and I couldn’t really be annoyed at the moment. Though, I was really looking forward to eating. Considering I hadn’t eaten since breakfast, and I was starving.
“Are we getting something to eat? I’m starving,” Sage mumbled.
“Soon, I promise. I just have to show your mom something really fast, then we’ll go get something.”
“Shiroe, what is it? What did you do?”
He motioned with his head for me to follow, and I let out a sigh.
It wasn’t until we walked into the building in front of us that I started to understand. He smiled warmly in my direction, allowing me to go ahead of him and pulling out a set of keys from his pocket. Shiroe stopped at a door to unlock the door, and I tilted my head in confusion. I could barely even speak, staring at him with both shock and surprise and curiosity.
He opened the apartment door, setting Ariana down and pulling me inside.
“Shiroe…” I said, slowly and taking a glance into the empty room.
It was open and spacious. Much more roomy than the apartment that we had now. I could tell already by looking at the floor plan, seeing the entryway into the kitchen and the gorgeous wood flooring. Ariana took a look around as well, and Sage had stood beside my leg leaning against me. I almost didn’t notice he was there for a long time, glancing up at my husband.
Shiroe smiled.
“You didn’t,” was all I could muster.
He chuckled, waving the keys in his hands.
“I know that you’ve been saying that the apartment is a little small, and Sage has been asking for his own room for a while now.”
He ruffled the little boy’s hair, lacing his fingers through my own.
My heart fluttered a bit in my chest and I felt a bit choked up. For a while now I had been hinting to him that I wanted a bigger place, something that was better for the size of our family. I also just wanted a new change, it felt a little weird leaving the apartment that we had gotten together years ago. But we needed more space, and this from the looks of it was perfect.
“How did you find this? It’s… it’s really nice.”
“I know, it was a lucky find. I had Naotsugu and Marielle helping me look. It’s not finalized yet, I needed to get your opinion first but…”
He looked at my face closely for a sign that I was enjoying the space. I could tell that he was excited to show it to me, and it was hard to even realize that this was actually happening.
“I love it… really it’s… it’s more than I could have wanted.”
He smiled wider, brushing a few pieces of hair from my face.
“You sure you don’t want to look at it first?”
“I mean, yeah! Of course I do!”
Shiroe laughed, shoving the keys into his pocket and letting me explore for myself.
Ariana took of running ahead of me, exploring through the different rooms and giggling a bit.
“We could play hide and seek here!” She shouted, making me giggle.
“Yep, that’s definitely something we could do, love bug.”
I poked her nose, watching her giggle and smile wide.
She then ran off, grasping Sage’s arm to get him to explore with her. Shiroe took the opportunity to lead me into one of the bedroom’s, squeezing my arm affectionately. It was a lot bigger than ours back home, and it was definitely going to give us a bit more space to work with. I was more interested in the closet that had more space, getting a little excited with the room that I could have available. It even had a small little bathroom off of it that I was surprised about.
I could already see us living here, and that to me was all the proof that I needed.
“I can’t believe you found something this perfect,” I said.
“I know… it was a surprise to me too. I couldn’t wait to show you and the kids.”
“Are you sure that… we can do this?”
He nodded, pulling me closer by a small hold on my waist. Biting my bottom lip, I let my eyes wander the walls and finding my way back to his gaze.
“You deserve this. I’m just happy that I can give it to you.”
I shook my head, trying so hard not to tear up at his words.
“You’re so cheesy,” I said through soft giggles, swatting at his chest playfully.
Shiroe rolled his eyes and laughed, pulling me closer to press a kiss to my lips.
I kissed him a few more times, my hands settling on his chest. A smile spread across my lips in between kisses, and I looked up into his eyes with pink covering my cheeks.
“Thank you…”
He shook his head, trying to mumble under his breath about it not being a big deal for me to thank him. Which only made me interrupt him with a kiss once again. He held me close, and I cradled his face with my palm gently.
Suddenly, I heard a soft little chirp from the doorway, and I pulled away from Shiroe to glance down at Ariana.
“Yes, love bug?”
“I’m hungry~”
“Alright, baby. We’ll go get something to eat, okay? You and your brother talk about what you want. We’ll leave in a few more minutes.”
She nodded, bouncing off down the hallway to find Sage.
Shiroe and I both chuckled, and he leaned down to kiss my cheek softly.
“I love you… so much,” He whispered.
“I love you too.”
His nose brushed against my own a couple of times, and I tried not to get lost in his eyes. Which was extremely hard even now.
I felt so lucky to have him. So happy to be experiencing all of this with him. To me this meant the entire world. There wasn’t anyone else in the world that I would rather be doing this with. Our family was everything to me, and I couldn’t wait to watch the twins grow up in this new place. Everything was all coming together for us, and all of what we worked so hard for was coming true.
“So… does this mean we can have it?” I asked.
Shiroe nodded, letting out a little chuckle, “Yes… if you want it… then it’s yours.”
“Ours. It’s ours.”
I smiled, straightening his shirt and feeling a small tear fall down my cheek.
Shiroe nodded, swiping the tear away with his thumb. He held me close against him, pressing his lips ever so softly against my forehead. As he spoke, I felt his lips brush against my skin gently and he closed his eyes happily.
“Yeah… ours…”

Shipping Information for Muse
tagged by: no one I just found it floating about
tagging: @beautivile @love-me-in-lifexhate-me-in-hell @bleep3 @pupperofulster
Answer the following for your muse so people know how shipping works on your blog.
What is your OTP for your character?:
The original pairing I had for this muse was Adelha X Ukitake back when my rp was on Facebook. Although I did have a special OTP pairing with Addy and a Franken Stein page. To which I enjoyed their interactions and blossoming love for the whole time the rp was going on. As for shipping here on Tumblr, I am a happy supporter of Addy X @thedemongunman since they are a darling and wonderful pair.
What are you willing to write when it comes to shipping?
Platonic tends to be the norm usually. Occasional familiar ships have popped up. As for romance, it really hasn’t happened save for the above mentioned Jigen blog. I am multiship on this blog. And as long as their is chemistry between muses and communication between muns, I am more than happy to see where rp plots go.
How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?:
I am figuring this is referencing romance / intimacy ships. The mun MUST be over 18 for me to even consider letting Addy get married to their muse. (since that is the only way the muses will be in an intimate relationship) The muse themselves must also be of legal age. Other than that… It’s kind of hit or miss since Adelha is over a hundred years old, being half Water Dragon and half Vampire in her main verse. In other verses where that doesn’t apply (example: Fate Grand Order) she is around age 24.
Are you selective when shipping?
I can be. Since I have had several people over on Facebook contact me with ‘an interest in shipping’ which became clear it was in actuality ‘a quickie brothel visit’ so I am wary. But as long as you are a mutual and I have gotten time to really rp with you and IM with you, I am willing to see where the rp plot heads and how the relationships work out.
How far do steamy moments have to go before they are considered NSFW?
Okay, this is going to be VERY specific. If there are buttons coming undone and hands groping certain places, then I expect for it be under a Read More. Basically if they are getting into the foreplay before the door gets locked.
Who are the characters that you ship your character with?
Addy X Ukitake via Facebook group. Addy X Ichimaru from a rather long private rp where Addy saved Gin from Aizen. (some day I will get to writing it out as a full fan fic) Addy X Franken via private Facebook page. Addy X Sasuke from an rp I did over on DeviantArt. And currently Addy X Daisuke on the blog for @thedemongunman. Addy X Jayden (my own OC) is a canon in my backstory lore.
But I also ship Addy with Urahara. And my main facfic novel I wrote years ago was a love square dilemma with Adelha, Vash the Stampede, Nicholas Wolfwood, and later on adding Father Abel Nightroad into the plotting of dramatical fluff. (It’s Kingdom Hearts meets anime so yes it is possible SHUSH!)
Does one have to ask to ship with you?
Always! I want to know what we’re getting into and what the intentions are behind the request. So IM me. I’d expect this of anyone on any blog for any ship request tbh.
How often do you like to ship?
If it’s the right relationship and fits the plot, I will ship. If it’s a crush Addy has, then I will be quite happy if / when that particular muse shows serious interest.
Are you ship obsessed or ship more-or-less?
I used to be. I’d make OCs just to ship with another mun’s muse back on Facebook. And I do keep track of what ships I have with what muses I came up with. (notebook is like soooooo full of notes and diagrams holy cows and sheep much)
Are you multiship?
Yes. I will do multiship. But each ship will be set in it’s own universe / storyline.
What is your favorite ship in your current fandom?
Bleach: Isshin X Masaki. / Ichigo X Orihime. / Rukia X Renji. (and for my own rp experience I OTP Uryu Ishida with my OC Alma Oaklends because OMG they are adorable together!) Naruto: Naruto X Hinata. Log Horizon: Naotsugu X Marielle / Isuzu X Rundlehaus Code. dothack//G.U: Haseo X Alkaid / Haseo X Atoli. Fate series: Kiritsugu X Iri / Shiroe X Sakura / Archer X Rin / Shiroe X Rin / Rama X Sheeta / Antoinette X Mozart / Asterios X Euryale (they make such a cute happy fluff couple)
Finally, how does one ship with you?
You mainly ask. After that, I see if and where such a relationship (be it platonic / familial / romantic / enemies ) would fit and where such would go.

Busy Holiday
Tumblr media
Summary: It’s that time of year again, and Ashley is helping Marielle and the others get ready for another week of holiday fun. This is causing her schedule to be a little full, which means her and Shiroe haven’t been exactly able to enjoy the holidays together as they should.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff
(( I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I wrote this last night and it was super cute. writing these holiday fics is helping me get kinda back into the writing groove, but also helping me feel better bc I’m kinda not rly feeling good physically right now. But here’s a fic with my husband who I miss terribly. I might make a part two to this for the feast! because I miss my lh family so much ))
The holidays are probably my favorite time of year. Especially coming right off of fall which is my favorite season, my mood just grows and grows as the months pass. And with my favorite holiday here, you could say happiness was it it’s highest. Even today with only a couple more days away, I was running around and trying to get everything situated given Marielle was putting together another festival. Being her sister meant I had a lot of grunt work.
Eventually I ended up feeling pretty tired, having ran around all morning taken care of errands for Henrietta on top of everything Marielle needed me to do. Not to mention the kids in both guilds wanted me to help them decorate for both guild halls, and I had to pick one to do today and then one to do tomorrow morning. Log Horizon won today, mainly because this is my guild now and because once I arrived here tonight I wasn’t getting back out.
The idea of settling down with friends and doing something fun like decorating just seemed like the relaxation I needed. Not to mention Minori seemed excited since I’d been pretty busy and hadn’t gotten a chance to really be around much. Last night while I was helping clean up after dinner, she was rattling off to me about how funny it was seeing me so busy.
“Usually it’s Master Shiroe who’s never around. Has he started rubbing off on you or something?” She asked with a little giggle at the end.
I rolled my eyes a little and bumped my hip into hers playfully.
“Yeah, yeah. Very funny. But you’re not wrong. I don’t think we’ve really seen much of each other lately. Marielle has us both really busy.”
I started drying off a couple dishes, remembering the past couple nights that we’ve tried to see each other and it just fell short. The only moment that I had for a break was to eat a quick lunch and that was conveniently the same time he was leaving for a round table meeting. I smiled remembering the small kiss that he gave me on the forehead, quickly apologizing and promising to see me afterwards.
But at that point I had to rush back to Crescent Moon to discuss feast plans with Henrietta. That involved list making and recipe exchanges, running back and forth making sure both chefs at both guilds were on the same pages. Which meant by the time I got back, I had to eat my dinner alone in the kitchen with Serera to keep me company.
Which I had no complaints about. She is an absolute angel, and we got to talking about all the different things she wanted to help me do this year. Taking as much load off my back that she could do, mainly wanting to be in the kitchen with Nyanta as much as possible. Which I had already planned for, but just hearing her go on and on was a real treat.
She and Minori are the biggest reasons why I realized I desperately wanted children of my own. They were both older, of course, but they still gave me that sense of mothering just by how I naturally am with them. Well, with Minori I’m more of a sister to, but there’s still moments where the inner future mom in me comes out. It’s just a hope that I have that one day I can have that opportunity.
Serera, though, I would adopt her if I could. She’s just this ball of energy and an angel that I adore more than words. I definitely love her just like she was one of my own, and I definitely consider her to be family probably more than anyone. I would die for her a thousand fucking times, and before I left for the night I squeezed my arms around her and told her to never change. Stay as innocent like this for as long as she freaking can.
By the time I got to bed, Shiroe was still working, and I didn’t have the energy to bring him to bed. The only time we got to see each other was in the morning before we both ran off to finish what we had to do that day. It’s amazing that the two of us are hard working, but it definitely reminds me why it would be better if just one of us was.
We’d never get to see each other if that were the case. I knew that it was likely just the business of the season and everything going on, but I knew that the two of us were upset about it. After all, this was supposed to be a time for us to be together. It was our first holiday celebrating prior to our engagement, and we should be spending more time together. Being able to enjoy it is the whole point, and so far that hasn’t really been the case.
But I was also enjoying being able to help ease Marielle’s stress, and help both guilds have a fun time that I had completely forgotten about my own wishes. And Shiroe’s, for that matter. Because he mattered too, and I didn’t want him to forget about that. Or feel like I was forgetting about him.
Which is why I had hoped that the two of us could eventually do something together, once we found the time.
I was in the kitchen after a long day, talking with Nyanta as Serera assisted him with some baked goods for the feast tomorrow night. Henrietta wanted to put together a little something between just the two guilds to get together and have a little fun. It’s been a while since we’ve done something like that, and she promised that she had everything else taken care of so I could sleep in tomorrow. I was definitely looking forward to that, having felt just how tired I was the second I walked in and smelled the delicious aromas.
“Oh that smells amazing,” I mumbled, feeling my mouth water.
“Hey Ashley! Finished everything?”
Serera was checking on something in the oven, putting down her mitts and running over to give me a hug. I smiled, patting her back and giving a small nod of response.
“Thankfully. Everything is pretty much done, which means I can relax until tomorrow evening.”
“They finally gave you a break, hmm?”
I nodded, letting out a little sigh of relief.
“I love them both, but they have had me running around like freaking crazy. I swear my feet are starting to swell. Can’t remember when the last time was that I even sat down.”
“Want me to get you a stool to sit on?”
“That’s fine, Serera, baby. I’m about to go help finish up with the decorations in a few minutes. Anybody know where Shiroe is?”
“Last I heard of him he was still cooped up with more paperwork. No surprise there,” Naotsugu’s voice chimed in as he sauntered in.
He reached to grab one of the pastries on the counter, just as Serera swatted it from his hands. My eyes widened, and I watched him glance after her as she shoved the plate away from him as quickly as possible. It took everything out of me not to burst out laughing, but I was mainly afraid that once I started I wouldn’t stop. Given that I was so completely exhausted.
“Those are for tomorrow!”
“Okay, okay! Geez!”
“Aren’t you supposed to be with Sayeko anyway?” I asked with a lift of my brows.
But the look that he gave me in response was equally as questionable.
“Should I kinda say the same to you? When’s the last time you guys have even seen each other since Marielle started ordering you around.”
“First off, I voluntarily am doing this. Second off--”
I started to say something sarcastic, but I quickly realized I really didn’t have a leg to stand on. He was kind of right, and normally I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction but tonight I wasn’t really in the mood. With a deep sigh, my shoulders slumped forward and I pressed my hand against my forehead.
“To be honest… we’ve barely said a word to each other these past couple of days. We’re both just so busy, and it sucks.”
“Just tell Marielle that you need a break. Sure she’ll understand. She’s your sister for god’s sake.”
“Yeah… You’re right. I’m just really guilty.”
“I mean, this is kinda Shiroe’s thing. Just makes it worse when you’re always constantly working too.”
I nodded, knowing that he was actually speaking a lot of truth. Something that Naotsugu tends to do at times. But I wasn't about to tease him for it, again. Not really being in the mood and mainly wanting to keep things on good terms. After all, I was in the holiday mood which meant not a lot of attitude coming out of me.
He told me a bit about his plans with Sayeko as the two of us walked back into the main hall where the rest of the kids already were having tea that Nyanta had prepared earlier. It seemed they were all waiting for me pretty patiently, which I thought was incredibly sweet and adorable. I couldn’t wait to relax and finally get off my feet.
“There she is!”
“We were afraid that you passed out on us.”
Letting out a laugh, I ruffled most of their heads and leaned back on the back of the couch to watch Isuzu strum a bit. She wasn’t playing very loudly, and it was clear that she was just trying to pass the time. But I always loved listening to her regardless. Listening a little longer might have lulled me to sleep had I not been standing up.
“You sure you’re feeling okay, Ashley?” Tohya asked me with a concerned look on his face.
I nodded, letting out a small yawn as my tails ruffled.
“Yeah, Tohya, I’m fine. A little tired, but I’ll be okay.”
I smiled to try to help them relax, but it didn’t seem to help much. It must have been clear on my face just how tired I was. But I wasn’t going to let them push me out of the room whenever I had made the decision to do this. Plus, I really wanted to be here! No amount of tired could stop me, but I did spend a couple seconds looking around the room.
“If you’re looking for Master Shiroe, he’s still busy,” Minori responded, setting down a box of decorations that she started rummaging through.
“Oh… right…”
Naotsugu noticed the disappointment on my face, nudging me forward a bit with a smile.
With a soft sigh, I nodded in silent understanding and softly gave my cheeks a slap to wake myself up. “Alright, well, let’s go ahead and get started before I actually fall asleep on y’all,” I said with a laugh.
Everyone was curious about how I was able to do all of this, seeing as I never really seemed to work this hard before. It was pretty easy to explain, considering this was one of my favorite holiday’s and I honestly felt like Shiroe might be influencing me a bit. Whether that was good or bad, I wasn’t really all that sure.
It wasn’t that long into the conversation that I heard everyone speak up and greet him. I couldn’t have turned around fast enough, extremely happy to see his face after the rather long day that I had. It was kinda hard to hide too from the way my tails swayed, having all of them out just because they mainly looked cute in the outfit I had on. And Shiroe had made me feel less embarrassed about having all nine of my tails.
“Hey love,” I said with the biggest smile I’ve had all day.
He smiled tiredly, but it was obvious that he was happy to see me too.
He looked adorable too and definitely not like he had been working all day. Wearing his nice sweater and was in the middle of putting on his coat whenever I had turned around. Almost like he was about to go somewhere, and that kind of had me a little disappointed. Where could he be going this late at night? Unless he had some last minute meeting that I forgot about.
“Hey Ashley-”
“You look… nice.”
I still kept smiling, but there was a hint of confusion in my voice. A reaction that he didn’t seem to see coming, and it was quite clear on his face. It was definitely obvious that there was something I was missing here. Even everyone else around us seemed to notice it, the collection of voices slowly falling until there was mild silence.
“Everything… okay?” I asked, getting a little nervous.
“Yeah, uhm… you forgot didn’t you?”
Tilting my head curious, I looked at him with my thoughts cycling through, trying to understand what he meant. Shiroe and I really hadn’t got much chance to talk over the past couple of days, so I couldn’t exactly pinpoint when we had time to make plans. It wasn’t until I remembered yesterday whenever I had stopped to see him before the meeting.
I remembered when he kissed my forehead and went towards the door, he promised me that tomorrow night he would take me out to make up for this. It was very quick, and I did hear him and register it, but I must have just forgotten in between every task I had to do. The second that I realized it, I knew that I had messed up.
“Oh god, I did! I’m so sorry baby!”
Naotsugu made a low ‘ooo’ sound and slowly backed away, which definitely didn’t help the situation. I rolled my eyes so hard that they could have flew out of my head, and I turned my attention back to Shiroe. It looked like he was trying really hard not to let me see how disappointed he was, which honestly I didn’t blame him. I felt extremely shitty in that moment.
“It’s okay, Sweetheart. I know you’ve been busy. We both have.”
“Yeah, but… You obviously went through the trouble to get dressed up, and I… I forgot.”
“It’s okay, really. I mean it.”
He took my hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. Trying to reassure me knowing that I was stressed out, but it still made me feel bad. Especially since I really wanted to spend time with him, but I knew that I also made a promise to the kids as well.
My heart sank, and I didn’t know what to do. And Shiroe was too sweet to make it a thing, which I was partially grateful for given that the kids were around. All I could do was stand there and squeezed his hand, taking in how amazing it felt in my own. I’ve missed his touch that I had started to crave it, even though it really hasn’t been that long. My body just needed it so badly.
He kissed my forehead, giving me a soft smile.
“I’ll go make some fresh tea,” He said, walking off towards the kitchen.
Pursing my lips together, I watched him walk away with my eyes stinging. This was the first time I actually felt like I disappointed him like this. It wasn’t a good feeling, and I understood exactly how he felt whenever he was really busy and forgot something that we had planned.
I turned around towards the others, feeling my ears dropping a little. There was a decision that I had to make here. Knowing that either way I was going to disappoint people, and that’s not something that I really like to do. It was clear on my face that I felt terrible, and before I even opened my mouth Minori spoke up.
“Say no more! You guys go!”
“Huh?”
“Yeah! We can take care of the rest.”
“You two deserve a break, after all.”
A soft smile spread onto my face, and I saw Naotsugu give me a little nod. He patted Tohya on the shoulder, holding a thumbs up. “Don’t worry, I’ll hold the fort here until Sayeko gets here,” He said.
I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling my heart calming down a little. It made me feel good knowing that they were all so sweet and understanding. They really were all amazing, and I felt a little better about the whole thing. And it also meant that I could see Shiroe, who I desperately needed to give my time and attention.
“Thank you guys. I love you so much. I’ll see y’all tomorrow at the party, okay?”
They waved me off, turning their attention back to their own conversation and clearly not at all bothered with me dipping out.
I trotted into the kitchen, seeing Shiroe idly chatting with Nyanta. He barely noticed me walk in, and I took the opportunity to wrap my arms around his middle from behind and squeeze him tight. He jumped a little in surprise, glancing over to see my smile.
“I’m really sorry,” I said softly, kissing his shoulder, “But you’re important to me. And you should feel important to me.”
“I know, Sweetheart. But I really don’t mind-”
“Stop, it’s okay to be upset! I know that you’re upset, but I’m gonna make it up to you. So whatever you want to do tonight, I’m there.”
“What about the others?”
“Naotsugu’s got it covered, and they’re actually very cool and understanding.”
I giggled a little, feeling his shoulders starting to relax. There was even a bigger smile on his face that appeared which made my heart skip a beat. He turned around and wrapped his arms around me, pressing a kiss to my cheek. There was a loud giggle that escaped my lips, and my cheeks brightened.
“That sounds amazing,” He said, touching his nose to mine and leaving me breathless.
This. This is what I had been missing. The second that he put his arms around me, I felt entirely at home. I was relaxed and I was comfortable. Nothing else mattered in this world but being with him. Feeling his arms around me and breathing in his scent. He really was my safe place and my comfort space.
Nyanta cleared his throat, and it was at that moment we realized we weren’t alone. Shiroe slowly pulled away, chuckling nervously and pulling at his collar.
“Uh… I’ll leave the tea out for the others.”
He nodded, and there was clearly a smirk that both of us completely ignored.
Shiroe took my hand, lacing his fingers with my own and the two of us talked about what we were going to do that night. Turns out Shiroe had a couple things planned, mainly just to walk around town since it was actually really pretty out and I hadn’t gotten to just enjoy it. Honestly, anything with him sounded like a wonderful idea.
It was pretty chilly, and every time I spoke I could see the cloud of my breath. But honestly, I loved this weather a lot. I’ve always enjoyed the cold more, being someone who feels more relaxed whenever it’s cold out. But with all of the lights it seemed to feel a bit warmer whenever we were passing by a few shops were still open.
“So do you have much to do tomorrow?” Shiroe asked.
I shook my head, leaning against his shoulder.
“Thankfully. Henrietta knew that I needed a break, so she told me that I am completely free to sleep in and enjoy the dinner tomorrow.”
“That’s great.”
Nodding in response, I breathed in his scent and squeezed his hand rather tight.
“What about you?”
“I finished up a lot today, so it seems like I’m going to be free too.”
“Really?”
He nodded, shifting hair from my face and watching my smile form. It meant the world to me to know that tomorrow we’d be with each other all day. This was the first time in a while that this has happened, and I knew that he had made sure of that. It was just the one thing that I needed to fully relax and enjoy the day.
We passed by someone that we knew selling some hot beverages, and we stopped by to grab some. Shiroe chatted a little bit with them while I just stared at his face, seeing the way that he smiled and looked like he was genuinely enjoying himself. Maybe it was just an excuse to look at his cute face, either way I was completely lost.
When he turned back around, I still wasn’t looking away and the pink on his cheeks was definitely not just from the cold. I let out a giggle, taking a sip of my drink and giving his hand a tug. We continued walking just to talk, stopping at one shop just to see a gift that I could possibly grab for Akatsuki. She was the only person I hadn’t gotten anything for yet, mainly because I couldn’t find anything that she doesn’t already have.
“Is there anything that you want?” I asked, “Not that I haven’t got the perfect gift I’m just asking.”
Shiroe chuckled, stopping near a tree and watching me take a small sip of my drink.
“I’m looking right at it.”
My lips curled into a smile, and I gave him a rather teasing look.
“You already have me, besides that’s not really an option.”
“Why not?” He asked, wrapping his arms around my middle and pulling me closer, “All I want is just to be with you.”
A giggle escaped my lips, and it was loud enough for me to shove my face back into the cup in front of me. I knew that people were probably staring, but at this point I wasn’t even paying much attention. Not to mention most people know us anyway and wouldn’t really pay us any mind at all.
Shiroe was definitely a lot bolder now than he used to me. I would never have imagined him holding me like this. PDA was not really his thing before, and it still isn’t entirely, but he’ll hold my hand and hug me a bit no problem. He is still the flustered man I fell in love with, but he’s getting a lot bolder. Which I’m not going to complain about.
“Baaaby-”
“It’s true. I miss you,” He said, “We’ve both been working a lot, and I think that we need to give ourselves a bit of a break.”
“I agree… I miss you too. I guess I got a little wrapped up in helping Marielle that I forgot that we deserve to have fun too.”
He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, smiling warmly in such a way that made my heart feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Shiroe gave me a soft kiss on the lips, before taking my hand and pulling me back towards the guild hall. The two of us were feeling pretty tired and just wanted to go back and climb into bed. Since we had tomorrow off, I’m sure that we planned to rest and relax. The idea sounded like the perfect way to end this hectic week.
“Hey, wait-” I spoke up, seeing him lift his brows.
There was a small silence between us before I grinned.
“Did you just actually say that we need to take a break? As in you need to take a break?”
He let out a loud sigh, rolling his eyes and trying to get me to keep walking. But I wasn’t having it. I kept teasing him and teasing him over and over again. Just because I knew that he was going to have that exact reaction.
I was sure that was the most that I’ve laughed in days, and part of it had to be because I was extremely tired. There was no way that anyone was getting me out of that bed tomorrow until at least two in the afternoon.

Truth or Dare Au || Ch. 1
Summary: Ashley and her friends take a trip to the beach to enjoy some time away together. While they’re there, they stumble upon some interesting ruins that a few of them wish to investigate. Which will quickly become their shelter from a storm, and they decide to make the time worth it by having some fun. Little do they know that by starting a game of truth or dare, they will be sealing their fate with a vengeful spirit.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff, eventual slight nsfw, eventual horror
Ship: shirey
Next Part
(( Note: This is my horror au just in time for halloween! It’s a multi parter, I know that I have a lot coming, please bear with me!! This is based off of and heavily inspired by the movie Truth or Dare. I will be using scenes and maybe some dialogue from the movie, but I will definitely be twisting the narrative a lot to fit my mix of comedy and less death. Think of it as a slightly watered down version. ))
@self-shipping-angel
The warmth of the sun from the window served as the perfect light for me to catch up on a couple pages of my book. I leaned against the kitchen counter, using the morning sunlight as my only light source. My initial idea was to finish the short read before Shiroe was out of the shower, waiting for him patiently while also completing this book. I had been trying to finish it for months, work and other things keeping me from it.
I rubbed my sleepy eyes, sipping on my tea beside me. The house was rather quiet, and I felt myself falling against my palm that rested against my cheek. The words on the page below started to blend together, and my eyelashes slowly fluttered closed. It didn’t take long for me to slowly fall asleep.
Before I could slam my head into the counter, I felt a hand slowly touch my shoulder gently. It caused me to jump a bit, my eyes fluttering open as I glanced at the man beside me.
“Oh… hey Shiroe,” I mumbled, “Did I fall asleep?”
He nodded, his hand running down my cheek. The warmth of it calmed my thudding heart, and I relaxed into my chair with a sigh.
“Yep. Almost. Are you sure you want to go?”
I nodded, sitting up from the stool and stretching my arms.
“Of course I do. I just didn’t get enough sleep as I would have wanted to last night. Besides, Sayeko and Marielle would kill me if I canceled plans.”
Shiroe shook his head, chuckling as I yawned and leaned my forehead against his stomach. He ran a hand through my hair, delicately pushing the strands as he held me close. In the peaceful quiet of the kitchen in that early morning, I could easy fall back asleep in this position. But I was both excited for this trip and ready to get out on the road for some damn fresh air.
“No they wouldn’t. I’m sure she’d understand if you were tired.”
“Yeah, but… I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for months.”
Shiroe let out a sigh, but didn’t protest. He knew that I was right, and he definitely didn’t want to upset me.
Today we were getting ready to meet up with our friends to head out to the beach for the weekend. Me and Sayeko thought it would be fun to get away for the weekend, all of us needing a break from everyday life and stress. I haven’t spent a lot of time with my friends like that in a long time. It would be great to get away and have a fun time.
After months of deadlines and meetings, this was what I needed. Shiroe felt the same, but he was just looking out for me. It’s why I loved him and why I was excited for us to get married soon. It was another reason why we needed to get away. Lately he and I have just needed a break from the world. We would technically still be with friends, but we did get a separate hotel room in the hopes of having some alone time at night.
Just as I was getting used to the feeling of his arms around me, I heard my phone chime beside me. I quickly picked it up, reading the text from Sayeko through blurry eyes.
“Oh, they’re about to pull up,” I said, quickly shutting my laptop and throwing it into its case, “Are you sure you don’t just want to take my car? It’s gonna be kind of cramped.”
“Yeah, it’ll be easier to take one car. Besides, they already agreed that they trust me driving more than any of you guys.”
“Now, I have no idea why they’d say that.”
I winked teasingly, slipping my bag onto my shoulder.
“Hey, I’m a pretty good driver,” He said, then took a better glance at my face, “What?!”
“Yes, babe, you’re a good driver. But more like you’re… too good of a driver.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
He followed me to help me grab my bags, just as Sayeko pulled up in our driveway. She should have already picked up Akatsuki and Marielle, and we were their last stop. I helped pitch in some cash so we could rent a bigger vehicle since most of us who had vehicles didn’t have one large enough for all of us.
Biting my lower lip, I tried not to giggle too hard as I spun around to face him. The look on his face was pretty adorable. He looked almost betrayed in a cute, joking sort of way.
“Shiroe, baby, I love you. But you drive like my grandmother.”
He scoffed, “I do not. I drive responsibly!”
“Too responsibly!”
“So would you rather me drive like Naotsugu?”
My eyes widened, and I had no words at that point.
The lift of his brows just made me giggle loudly, gently pushing his chest playfully. The thought was already frightening enough, and he knew that. He was there when I specifically asked Sayeko not to let Naotsugu take the wheel. At all. I’d much rather deal with Shiroe’s careful driving than his… fast and furious kind.
“Yeah, I thought so,” He laughed.
“You know, just because you won this time, doesn’t mean anything.”
I poked his chest for emphasis, pursing my lips as I noticed him getting closer. My chest heaved slowly as I tried to catch my breath from laughter. The distance was slowly closing between us, and I felt his fingers slip through my own. His lips pressed against mine so softly, that I almost didn’t feel it at first. I kissed back, smiling in between each one as my cheeks flushed red.
It wasn’t until I heard the loud knock near my ear that I suddenly jumped and yelped rather loudly.
“Are you guys ready in there?”
I rolled my eyes, quickly opening the door before he could knock that loudly again.
“Oh, there you are! What’s taking you so god damn long?”
“None of your damn business, bitch.”
“Now, that’s just rude!”
I stuck out my tongue at Naotsugu as I walked backwards towards the car.
Sayeko was already rushing out of the car to give me a hug, helping me get my bags and throw them into the trunk. Marielle rolled down her window, reaching her hand out to pinch my cheeks.
“There’s my cute sister!”
“Marielle, please, don’t-”
She stopped only long enough for her to open the door and yank me inside. Her arms wrapped around me in a tight embrace, and I was already beginning to gasp for air.
“Marielle, do we have to do this every time?” Akatsuki asked from the seat near the opposite window.
She rolled her eyes, giving me a sympathetic smile.
“Didn’t you two just see each other yesterday?” Sayeko asked, appearing behind us as she tried to help Marielle relax her fingers.
“Every day away from my sister is a terrible day!”
Finally, I was able to break free from her hold, and I slid down onto the ground as I gasped for breath. Granted, I was being a bit dramatic about the whole thing, but it really did feel like I was just getting my breath back after a long time. She literally knocked the wind out of me.
Sayeko helped me onto my feet, and she tried not to giggle from the face that I was making. I rubbed the base of my neck and chatted with the girls while Shiroe helped Naotsugu put up the rest of the bags.
“Are you ladies ready to go? You got everything?”
“Yeah, yeah we’re fine. Just waiting on you two slowpokes.”
I winked, ignoring the roll of both of their eyes.
The sun was beating down above us, which was both a good and a bad sign. It was a good sign that it was perfect beach weather, but it was bad because it made me miserable. I was feeling much better once I was inside the car, sitting in front of the AC that was blowing right on me.
“I’ll stop at a store and let you guys get some snacks. We’re about two hours out,” Shiroe said, giving my hand a little kiss before he started the car.
“Ooooh! Did you say snacks?”
“Yes, children, he did.”
“Who the hell are you calling a child?!”
“Naotsu, baby, please. Shhh…”
I rolled my eyes, folding my legs underneath me in the seat and getting more comfortable.
This was going to be a long, long ride. But I was looking forward to it. My friends may be weird and sometimes wild, but I loved them to death. This was one of the reasons why I knew that this weekend was going to be the best.
But little did I know that there was so much more in store for us. So much more than just a simple beach weekend.
Something much… much deadlier.

Intervention
Summary: Parenting has become a beautiful blessing and just a little challenging for the couple. Ashley is a wonderful and caring mother, but she’s still trying to grasp the balance between taking care of herself and the babies as well. Time for her caring friends to stage a little heart to heart.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff
((Note: Just a silly and fun and somewhat emotional fic about mine and Shiroe’s experiences being new parents! It makes me so happy to go back to these times with them. Also have my friends being super helpful with the kids and helping our sanity. It’s just wonderful and just sweet. Also I know it was kind of two fics in a row today, but I had lots of inspiration and I’m happy!))
@self-shipping-angel
Being a new mom has a lot of responsibility and changes. I tried to expect a lot going into it, but I had no idea the challenges I’d face. Not that I wasn’t happy. I was extremely excited to be a mom, and even better when it was two beautiful angels. That also meant that I was extremely busy. It meant a lot to me that I had a wonderful husband to help me, but since he works he can only do so much. That doesn’t mean that Shiroe doesn’t try regardless.
He and I have been… more focused on the baby’s health and less about ours.
I stress that it has been both of us.
Today was one of the days that Shiroe was home, which meant that we were both in our second job. Being parents. To twins. Things were going fine too, the twins were fed and Shiroe was helping me clean up the house and gather up clothes for me to do laundry. I was in a good mood for the time being, but I was also tired.
Shiroe noticed that I was tired, stopping me just short of going into the laundry room with a basket resting on my hip. His hands held my arms, and he lifted my chin to look at him.
“What? I’m going to do laundry. Did you miss something-”
“No, baby. You know I love you so much, right?”
“Yes.”
I pursed my lips, furrowing my brows a bit at his tone.
Shiroe kept that nice smile, but I could tell that there was something coming. He rubbed my arms very lovingly, holding me close to him. The babies were being quiet for the moment, which was giving me a short time to get everything done before they started crying again. I wanted to make sure that I scheduled things perfectly.
“And you are an amazing mother,” He added, and that was when I knew there was going to be something to it.
“Shiroe, what is it?”
He sighed, cupping my cheek.
“You need to take a break. You’ve been running around all day, and I know that it’s hard. But I can take care of it. Trust me, okay? Take a nap, go get lunch, or call Marielle I’m sure she’d love to see you. But you’ve been working too hard on barely any sleep.”
I huffed a sigh, lifting my eyebrows.
“I can’t necessarily sleep a lot when there’s two babies-”
“Ashley, I told you that I can handle one night or two. You need your rest too.”
“But you have work, and I don’t want you to be tired for work. And I like moving around a lot and keeping busy with the twins. I don’t want to miss anything!”
Shiroe chuckled, leaning forward to kiss my forehead lovingly.
I stopped for a second to focus on how warm his touch felt. It’s been a quick minute since I just enjoyed being in his arms. It felt so good, and I was so happy. Even though I knew he was right, it was just so hard to leave my babies. I didn’t want to go anywhere, and I didn’t want to stop. I felt bad that if I stopped… I wouldn’t be doing anything and that isn’t a good thing. In my head, I was feeling very strongly about how I wanted to be a good mother to my kids.
And Shiroe knew that. Which is why, he was very insistent on me taking care of myself.
My lips pursed as I felt my eyes water. Shiroe quickly wrapped his arms around me, dropping the clothes basket on the floor and whispering.
“It’s okay,” He said, “You’re not a bad person for wanting a break.”
“I just don’t want you to have to do it by yourself-”
“And I’m not. I have you, and when I need a break you’re the first one to help me. We’re a team, sweetheart. That’s why I love you. That’s why they love you.”
I smiled, leaning against him with a sigh.
Maybe he was right. It would be best for me to get a shower and maybe take a nap. He could handle this on his own. And I didn’t want him to think that I didn’t trust him. It was just hard, and I started to realize just how attached I was when I still couldn’t seem to let go.
The moment that we pulled apart, Ariana started crying. Shiroe gave me that look as if to tell me not to do it, but before he could even blink I was off towards the room. He let out a sigh, calling after me and laughing a little. Even though, I could tell he was only a little bit in the mood for laughing. It might have been from his lack of sleep as well.
“Shhh… baby girl,” I cooed, gently picking up Ariana from her crib, “What’s wrong, huh?”
I chuckled softly, holding her against me and gently rocking her.
She continued to cry, and I glanced up to see Shiroe in the doorway with that same look I expected.
“Ashley…”
“I know, I know. But she needs to be changed-”
“Let me do it.”
“No, no. It’s fine! I’ll do it.”
He let out a sigh as I shifted passed him, lying her down on the changing table.
Making faces at her to help her relax, I couldn’t help but giggle at my beautiful angel. This was part of the reason why I couldn’t stop. I never imagined parenting to make me this happy, even the not so great parts about it. All of the time spent with my babies I cherished and wanted to indulge in, only because I knew that they wouldn’t be this little forever.
Shiroe disappeared for a second, and I assumed that he was going to finish my laundry for me since I hadn’t started yet. Either way, I got too distracted with my baby to even notice. Now that Ariana was changed, I held her in my arms and talked to her for a while. When I noticed that Sage was starting to make his face as well.
“Baby,” I called, “Can you come get Sage?”
“Of course-”
Shiroe appeared back into the bedroom, smiling rather innocently.
I lifted an eyebrow, setting Ariana back down.
There was something in his eyes when he came around to pick up Sage that I wasn’t sure if I liked. But I ignored it and sauntered off to finish the laundry. After several promises later that I will stop once the laundry is done. Shiroe apparently didn’t think that I was going to do it. I knew that he was up to something, but I had no idea.
I was folding laundry and moving back towards the living room to put them away in the bedroom. When I passed through, I almost jumped when I heard Marielle screaming my name.
“Ashie! How are you?! How’s motherhood?!”
“Marielle, shhhh, you don’t wanna upset the babies!”
“Oh, right, I’m sorry!”
She squeezed me tightly against her, wrapping her arms around my neck.
It was at that point that I realized not only was she here, but so was Henrietta, Naotsugu, and… Akatsuki.
“Oh, hey… guys…”
I trailed off, looking at Shiroe who has just came back into the living room.
“What are you doing here?”
Not that I wasn’t happy to see them. I just wasn’t expecting all of them to be here right now. We didn’t really plan to meet up at our house, and I really wasn’t in the mood to entertain. It just didn’t seem to make sense and, to be honest, it felt like it was planned.
By everyone else but me.
“Shiroe called us. Sweetie, have you gotten any sleep?” Henrietta immediately dove into mother mode with her soft voice.
“I’ve gotten an amount.”
“Oh, Ashie. You can’t keep doing this to yourself. It’s bad for you, and for Shiroe because he has to deal with your attitude you get when you’re tired and stressed-”
“Marielle,” I growled, trying to get her to stop.
Which she quickly did. My sister knowing better than to keep on talking when I gave her that look.
Breathing a sigh, I heaved my shoulders and felt Shiroe wrap an arm around my waist. I know that he was trying to be helpful and calm me down, but I couldn’t help but feel… backed into a corner. I knew immediately what they were trying to do.
“You know that I love you guys, but… why are you here?” I asked.
“Shiroe asked us to come by and help… talk you out of killing yourself,” Naotsugu said, “Now, I don’t know anything about babies but… even I know that you look like crap.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. Not helping.
Akatsuki looked like she was holding back, but she quickly let go once I glanced at her.
With a roll of her eyes she mumbled, “Butt head is right.”
“Did pipsqueak really just agree with me?”
“Shut up. It’s not happening again,” She rolled her eyes again, “You look like you could use some rest. Shiroe is just trying to look out for you.”
I knew that he was. But I couldn’t see passed anything but my instincts to stay. It was my stubborn self and my habit of beating myself up for no reason. They were all right. It was ridiculous of me to do this. My health is just as important, and if they could see it. Then, it was definitely worse than I thought.
Smiling softly, I turned to give Shiroe a soft kiss on the cheek. He smiled back, squeezing my hand and just reminding me of the loving and perfect husband that he was. All he did was care about me. That’s all this ever was.
“Thank you, baby. I’m sorry I’m so stubborn.”
“It’s okay. It’s what I love about you.”
He winked, placing another kiss on my lips.
It was at that moment that I knew I had to let it all go. I had to take care of myself for a day and let Shiroe take the lead. My friends were going to help me relax, even if they had to wrangle me somehow. Which is why Henrietta insisted I jump in the shower while her and Marielle finish the laundry, and Shiroe and Naotsugu checked on the twins.
It was kind of adorable hearing Naotsugu playing with Ariana that I almost didn’t want to interrupt it.
After my shower, Shiroe pushed me into the kitchen and sat me down at the table to give me some lunch. He kissed my temple and promised me that the children were being well taken care of, and even though I heard crying for a second, it wasn’t long before Henrietta and her magical skills with babies went to work. So I ate my sandwich and enjoyed the peace and quiet by myself.
They were right. I really did need this.
It was hard, but I was really enjoying myself. A part of me felt bad for it, but… I needed this. And I kept telling myself that over and over again. That way I wouldn’t break down and cave in, knowing my friends wouldn’t allow it.
“How is lunch treating you?” Henrietta asked, leaning over the chair to pat my cheek and run her fingers through my hair.
“It’s good… really good…”
“That’s great… Shiroe has become quite the cook now, hasn’t he?”
I nodded, taking a sip of my tea.
“After this, then you can take a nice, long nap. You babies will be waiting for you when you wake,” She said with a smile.
Pursing my lips, I sat back in my chair and tapped my fingers on the table. There was a silence there before I spoke up, and I could almost tell Henrietta knew what I was going to say.
“Can’t I hold Sage for just a second-”
“No, you need rest. If you hold him for a second, then it’ll become an hour. Trust me… this is not just for you, dear. This is for them too. They need their mother to be perfect and healthy and awake. Shiroe and the rest of us have it covered. Just trust us.”
I let out a sigh. She was right, again. Trusting them was something that I always did, and right now it wasn’t any different. Just being a mom has changed that instinct just a little bit more.
Henrietta squeezed my shoulders, placing a small kiss on the top of my head. Slowly, she became like a mother to me. We don’t like to talk about it, considering the mention of it makes her a bit… upset. But I do still see her as a mother figure to me.
And I loved her. So much. She always seemed to make everything better.
“You’re right. I’ll go sleep. For the babies.”
Henrietta chuckled, pinching my cheek and moving back so I could get out of the chair.
Walking into the living room, I gave a little wave to my babies that were spread out between Marielle and Shiroe. He gave me a little wink as I passed, and I couldn’t help but smile even wider. But Henrietta didn’t let me stop, pushing me into my bedroom and giving me a wide smile as she shut the door.
“Sleep tight!”
Once the door was shut, I sat on my bed and chuckled softly. I felt incredibly lucky to have my friends. They were so caring and looked out for us. It was the best decision of my life to marry Shiroe, but it was a better decision to have a family with him. I would never regret this. I never thought I could love someone as much as I love Shiroe.
Those two babies in that room are the only exception.

First Part -> Previous Part -> Next Part
My eyes fluttered around the darkened room, panic settling in as I realized where I was. The walls around me felt like they were closing in, the tightening in my chest becoming more prominent with every breath that I took. My throat felt dry, and I tried my best to scream when I remembered that I couldn’t. As I stumbled through the darkness, I felt the hairs on my arms stand up as a chuckle sounded from within the deep blackness ahead of me.
A bright white light appeared, causing me to wince a bit and shield my face. Once my eyes finally adjusted, I saw the familiar face of the enchantress from before. My heart thudded against my chest, the breath knocked from my lungs when I saw the look on her face. There was something different about her that I couldn’t quite pinpoint. But I knew that she was much more… deadlier now than she was before.
“What’s going on?” I asked, shivering a bit as the room turned cold.
It was then that I realized she had given my voice back. If only for the moment.
“What do you mean, dear? The month is up, and you failed to make him fall in love with you.”
“No… that’s impossible. I still have time!”
“No, unfortunately… you don’t.”
She stepped closer, lips curling into a larger smirk.
I shook my head roughly, stepping backwards as fear bubbled into my lungs. Slowly, I felt it harder to breathe and harder to move. Her gaze was frightening, but there was something else lingering behind it. Tears filled my eyes, and I realized that it didn’t matter how I felt. She was here to take me away and take my soul forever. I had failed, and I had nothing to show for it.
Not that I wasn’t surprised. A man like Shiroe doesn’t just fall in love with someone like me in a month. It hurt my heart to admit it, because even though it was partially motivated by my fear of dying. It was also because I wanted him to love me. After all, I had been in love with him for years. I just wanted to feel worthy of him. For real.
She chuckled once again, reaching her hand out to me.
“Don’t worry, child. It’ll be quick and painless.”
The darkness seemed to swallow me, inabiling me to move or even scream. All I could do was watch her grin widen, eyes turning black as the air around us. More tears fell down my cheeks as her nails dragged across the side of my face, and I shut my eyes tightly forcing myself to give in to her power.
My body jolted awake, quickly sitting up and panting heavily. Sweat clung to my skin, the sheets pooling around me while I quickly gazed around the room. I was still there in Akatsuki's room, the sunlight shining brightly in the window. My heart quickened in my chest, loud enough to ring through my ears. I touched my face gently, breathing a gently sigh of relief.
It was all just a crazy nightmare. None of it was real. I was still here, and I only had begun my journey. There was a sense of relief that began to wash over me, and I felt my eyes growing heavy as tears begged to escape. It was scary, thinking that my whole existence was over. I wasn’t the type of person to really think about dying, but the thought alone was enough to make me terrified. I didn’t want to die, and I sure as hell didn’t want it to end like this.
Swallowing hard, I slowly uncovered myself and took a few seconds to collect myself. I forced myself to shut out the dream, thinking about the events that happened yesterday. There needed to be some kind of game plan. How was I going to go about this whole thing? If I only had a month to fall in love with him, then I had to get started… right now. It all seemed impossible, and I really didn’t have that much confidence in myself.
I touched my arm, standing up to move towards the window. My eyes gazed to the ground below, watching the crowds move along the street. It was unbelievable to imagine that I was really here. A part of me wanted to just soak it all in, forgetting for a second how real the situation was. I had dreamed for years of being in this position, and it’s not easy for me to accept.
This whole thing still felt like some crazy dream. Enchantresses and multiple dimensions and contracts for souls. It was all a crazy movie that I was apart of. But none of that changed the fact that I had a job to do. I couldn’t enjoy the thought of being amongst my favorite fictional people, because I was on a deadline.
Now, I knew what all those fictional stories really felt like. I felt foolish, but I couldn’t let that stop me from trying. If I couldn’t accomplish my goal, at least I can leave this existence by making a few friends and experiences. But my main goal stayed the same. I had to find a way into Shiroe’s heart… one way or another.
Quietly the door opened, and Akatsuki stepped inside. I turned around, giving her a smile in greeting.
“Good morning, Miss Ashley. Breakfast is ready downstairs if you’d like to join us,” She said.
I nodded, mouthing, “Thank you.”
She nodded back, smiling and shutting the door behind her.
I pursed my lips, taking one last look out the window. Today was the start of my new life. Whether I stay here or not… I had to make the most of it.
It was almost surreal meeting up with the others for breakfast. Sure, I had eaten with them last night, but this was just a second time I was lost in amazement. Moments like this make me thankful that I can’t speak, because it gives me an excuse to stay silent and just watch.
Shiroe smiled at me, asking me if I slept okay as he sat beside me. I tried not to focus too much on it, but it was hard when he chose that spot. Him being so close was scary but exciting. My heart couldn’t sit still, let alone the butterflies in my stomach every time we bumped into each other. It was hard to keep my distance, knowing that I felt so much for the man sitting beside me.
The chatter was pretty normal, everyone asking about each other’s day and some making plans for the evening. A few had work to do, while others would rather goof off. Naotsugu seemed to be really talkative to me this morning. It was strange, but I was invested in a lot that he said. Mainly because it was a nice change of pace. He didn’t treat me like some stranger, in fact, he was talking to me like he had already somewhat known me.
I hadn’t really taken into consideration why that might’ve been.
Taking another bite of my breakfast, I listened to Shiroe even though he wasn’t technically talking to me. It was just nice to watch him speak, hearing his voice even though I didn’t really get the context. My eyes fluttered down to his lips, watching them move as he spoke. It was so fluid, and I became lost in the mindset of what they’d feel like against my own.
Snapping out of my thoughts, I realized he was looking at me. My eyes snapped upwards into his own, my heart fluttering in my chest. Sputtering curses in my head, I begged and pleaded that he didn’t notice I was staring at his mouth. He didn’t seem to be too weirded out, and held my breath as he repeated himself.
“Everything okay, Ashley?” He asked.
I nodded quickly.
‘I’m sorry.’
I couldn’t really answer his question all that much, but he didn’t seem to hung up on it.
“It’s okay. Akatsuki was just saying that she wouldn’t mind company visiting some friends if you wanted to come along,” Shiroe said with a smile.
“Yes, of course not. Marielle always likes meeting new people. I’ll call ahead and let her know.”
I opened my mouth to speak, again forgetting that nothing would escape.
Shiroe watched me struggle, his smile falling a bit. My eyebrows furrowed, and I smiled meekly in both their directions. It’s hard for me to express myself freely without a voice. It almost made me feel… negative about myself because I hadn’t realized how privileged I was. I’d taken my voice for granted.
Akatsuki took a sip of her tea, and the silent eye contact that her and Shiroe had was fleeting. I would have missed it if I wasn’t paying attention. There might have been something going on with that meeting last night after all. It felt stupid of me to be so paranoid, but with a group like this I had to be. Shiroe was pretty intuiative. I wasn’t sure how long I could keep this up. Eventually, he’s going to want more answers.
Answers that I can’t give him.
The idea of lying to him was difficult. I didn’t want to, and it hurt that I might have to consider that option. But telling him the truth wasn’t in the cards. If I did, I could be risking everything. I might not be able to woo him after all. Or I would be signing my death sentence. It was definitely something that I had to avoid at all cost.
After breakfast, Shiroe had me stay behind with him before I got ready to leave for the day. My heart was still fluttering a bit every time that he touched me or looked at me for too long. He was just going to make this extremely hard for me. I could barely look him in the eye, because he was just so beautiful. Those eyes were like pools that I got lost in every time I even glanced at them. I couldn’t do this.
He reached into his pocket and handed me a small journal. The leatherbound book felt soft in my hands, and I stared at it for several minutes with furrowed brows.
“I figured it’d be easier for you to have some way to communicate,” He said with a smile, “Of course, you can use it for anything you like. Write down your thoughts, things like that.”
I glanced into his eyes, feeling my chest tighten.
How could this man be this thoughtful and sweet? All the things that I fell in love with him, and it was just affirming it all for me. A total stranger that he only met yesterday, and he was doing all these nice things for me. I almost couldn’t believe it. A man like this doesn’t exist. Technically, he didn’t until yesterday. Not to me anyway.
A smile formed on my lips, and I hugged the journal to my chest. It was hard not to cry, given that this whole situation had already been emotional for me. He would just think I was weird crying over something as small as a journal. But to me… it meant a lot.
‘Thank you, Shiroe’.
He nodded.
“It’s not a big deal. I have enough journals already. I’m happy to help in any way that I can.”
There he goes… being humble again. I couldn’t help but smile wider, staring deeper into his eyes. My eyelashes fluttered, and I was sure that the look on my face… spoke wonders. I couldn’t help myself with the way the sun was shining behind him, and his smile was just absolutely perfect. He was so beautiful and kind and amazing. No wonder I was in love with him.
After a few seconds of silence, Shiroe began to stutter and shift a bit where he stood. I quickly realized that I was still staring, taking the second to quickly glance away and shift a piece of hair behind my ear. Even though I couldn’t speak, my body language was making things perfectly clear. And so was Shiroe’s.
God, this was so awkward.
“I’m uh… I’m happy that you like it. I should… I should probably uhm… go.”
I nodded, feeling my heart drop to my stomach as he walked passed me and back into the guild building.
It was hard watching him walk away when there was so much that I wanted to say. So much that I wanted to do, and I knew that I couldn’t do anything.
My arms hugged the journal closer to me, and I felt a piece of him left behind from the gift. It was hard not to read into the gesture, and I made an internal promise to cherish the gift. The first gift that I had gotten from Shiroe. The man that I was in love with. I knew that my love was real the second that I saw him and wanted to run to him.
“Miss Ashley.”
I spun around, glancing over at Akatsuki.
Had she been standing there for very long? It would be embarrassing if she saw the whole thing, but it didn’t seem like she did.
“Are you ready to go? I can wait as long as you need,” She said.
I shook my head, slowly dropping my arms to my sides.
Meeting her at the door, the two of us reentered the guild building in gentle silence. The fact that I was going to meet Marielle began to settle in the air, and I was nervous once again. There was no doubt in my mind that this feeling was going to continue until the month was over. I was just going to have to get used to this feeling of embarrassment and anxiousness and awkwardness.
Enjoying the moment was most likely out of the question. But I couldn’t deny that I was at least a little bit excited to meet them. I just hoped that Henrietta didn’t ask too many questions, and there wasn’t too many things that I couldn’t handle.
But that was too much to ask, given my situation.
Everything was going to be too much to handle. Might as well hold on for the ride.

Hard Goodbyes
Tumblr media
Summary: Hearing the news of Shiroe’s departure was hard for the whole guild, but even moreso for Ashley. The thought of being without him is difficult, but even harder when she realizes that she truly has no idea just how long he’ll be gone. That thought in itself is... a little worrisome.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff, slight angst
((Note: Your girl starts watching again and she gets another idea! I couldn’t help myself, I was just imagining how hard it would be for us to be apart for a while. So seeing him off was pretty upsetting for me in this fic. Especially since it was dropped so suddenly, but I hope you guys enjoy this aha))
The tea smells delicious, but I can’t bring myself to lift the cup to my lips. My eyes feel glued to my lap, the swarming of voices around me making it hard for me to delve into my thoughts. But I try, thumb brushing over the cup in my hands. It’s funny to think that almost a few hours ago I was laughing and having fun with my guild members and friends. It all felt like miles away from how I felt now. Empty and unsure.
“Ashley was pretty awesome in that archery competition!” Naotsugu said in his usual fashion, “You kinda nicked my a bit there, though.”
He patted at the part of his hair that I had, in fact, taken a sliver of a piece off. Honestly, you wouldn’t have noticed it if you were just glancing.
My eyes lifted to look at him, but I could barely even make the energy to give a little smirk.
“What can I say? Your head is a little big, shooting off a couple apples is tricky with a head that huge.”
“I do not! You’re the one with the huge ass head!”
Everyone started chuckling at the man’s words, and I could barely bring myself to laugh a tiny bit. But the smile was gone in less than a fraction of a second.
It’s true that the festivities today were fun. Naotsugu and I ended up winning that competition in second place, and Marielle and I bought some new outfits and fancy jewelry that some of our friends were selling. I’ve eaten so much pumpkin that I felt like I was about to puke, but it was definitely fun. Akatsuki and I spent all day teasing the shit out of Naotsugu, and helping them prepare for the bigger festivities near the end.
Being without one person in particular, though, was hard. I really wished that he could have been there with me, but I knew that he had a lot of stuff to do. When I saw him at the end of the night, I had never been happier. It’s true that he looked… stressed. But seeing that gentle smile on Shiroe’s face when he saw my own was enough to brighten my spirits.
But only a little.
“Hey baby, how are you doing? I thought you’d be down earlier, but… it’s nice to finally see you. I thought I’d have to come and get you eventually,” I said with a giggle.
“Yeah… I’m sorry…”
He squeezed my hand, but I could tell there was something in his eyes. Something that I couldn’t read.
“I do have to speak to everyone… about something important,” He said, “In a minute…”
I could tell that he didn’t want to ruin the good time we were having, which only made me a little apprehensive.
But I really couldn’t understand the gravity of the situation. Not until we all finally piled into the Log Horizon building, and he told us about his plan. Well, only somewhat. To be honest, I felt a little strange when he was explaining why he’d be gone for a while. He didn’t look at me at all. It…. it was weird.
I pursed my lips, trying hard to hold back my emotions right now that everyone was talking and laughing. It would be stupid of me to bring it up right now, especially when it was clear that Shiroe wasn’t giving out any information. Not even to me. He was leaving Akihabara for who knows how long, and he wouldn’t even tell me why. I didn’t even know until today with everyone else, and even though it seemed unfair… I was hurt.
“I’m coming along,” Naotsugu said, making my heart sink a little.
“What about the rest of us? What about me?” I asked, watching Shiroe shift his eyes to me for what seemed like the second time that day.
His smile that he gave me caused my heart to sink even lower.
“I need you to stay here with everyone. It’s better for you to be here… I’ve already thought about it, and I don’t like it…. But I need you here.”
I slowly moved my boots across the floor, remembering the look on his face.
He was making me stay. It felt a little unfair, considering we always stick together in every situation. We’re so much better together. We’re such a great team, and I don’t understand why he wouldn’t want me to come along. I was also worried about what exactly was going on. How long was he going to be gone for? It could be days, weeks, or even months. And not knowing where he’d be was terrifying.
We haven’t been apart for more than a couple days at best in our relationship.
“Ashley? Are you alright?”
I lifted my head once again, hearing the sound of my friend beside me.
Akatsuki blinked, leaning close to me with a worried look on her face. I pursed my lips, giving her a small nod.
“You haven’t touched your tea… it’s gonna get cold. Do you want me to make you some more?” Sayeko asked, her too looking at me with such worry.
I shook my head, giving them both the best smile I could muster.
“I’m okay… I think I’m gonna head to bed early… I think my stomach’s upset from all the food I ate.”
I chuckled nervously, unfolding my legs and setting my cup on the table in front of me.
“O-Okay,” Sayeko said, “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Ashley.”
Minori gave me a little wave and a smile.
I nodded to all of them, quickly walking past Shiroe who was giving me the same look as all of them.
I knew that he would follow me. I could hear him telling the others that he was going to join me, followed by a quick trail of giggles and teasing on his part.
It was a little unfair of me to be so upset. Shiroe looked like he’d been thinking about this for a while. He’s been holding a lot on his shoulders, but as his girlfriend I can’t help but feel worried and upset. I’m here to be that support for him, and it just feels shitty to feel this way. Feeling like he’s still this island even after all we’ve been through together.
I know it can’t be that simple. It never is. I know that he can’t disclose information, because of who might be listening. But doesn’t he trust me?
Of course he does, Ash. He’s proven that on multiple occasions. But my brain is constantly trying to tell me of the ways why he would keep things from me. It just makes me fall deeper into this whole. And then there’s the matter that I don’t want to be away from him.
When the bedroom door shuts behind me, I once gain feel my thoughts slipping from me. The curtain that I kept up, hiding my true emotions slip. And I feel a hand touch my cheek, forcing me to look up at him.
“I’m sorry… You know that I wouldn’t leave you behind unless I had a good reason…”
Shiroe’s voice is soft, and he’s immediately aware of my feelings.
I lean into his touch, closing my eyes and forcing myself not to cry. I felt like such a child, but it honestly was frightening now knowing where he’d be and how long he’d be gone. Maybe I was afraid that I’d never see him again… which was a foolish thing to think about.
“I know… but I wish you’d tell me where you’d be going… what you’d be doing… I feel like you don’t trust me,” I said.
“Ashley… that’s not true… I trust you more than anyone…”
He tilted my chin, and my eyes slowly opened once again.
The serious look on his face is one that I’ve seen countless times before. But his eyes are what I look at. There’s so much emotion. I feel warm from his words, even though my heart still aches. I can’t begin to forgive myself for having these doubts. When he’s trusted me with many things, and given me no reason to doubt him. I wouldn’t blame him if he felt insulted.
“It’s not you at all… I promise you that… I hate the idea of being away from you, but there’s more that you can do for me here. Marielle needs you too, and so does Henrietta.”
“I know… and I want to do whatever I can to help you, love. But… I don’t know if I can let you go not knowing how long you’ll be gone. We’re going to be missing so many things… I know it’s selfish, but… I’ve been looking forward to sharing that with you.”
“I know, baby, I know.”
He smiled, slowly pulling me to sit down beside him on the edge of the bed. He shifted hair from my face, lacing his fingers through my own in such a gentle way.
“When I get back, I’ll make it up to you. I promise. I really hope that we won’t be away too long, but I can’t make any promises right now. But I promise I’ll be back before you know it. Then, you can drag me to anything that you want. I’ll go wherever and do whatever you want. As long as it makes you happy…”
He kissed my hand, massaging my knuckles with his thumb.
I smiled gently, leaning forward to rest my forehead against his.
Swallowing hard, I felt the lump in my throat and I sniffled a bit. So much for not wanting to cry. Even though it was childish of me, I was having such a hard time letting him go. I wasn’t sure why I felt so anxious and unsure, but Shiroe was being as sweet as he could be. He really is the best that I could ever ask for.
“I love you, Ashley,” He mumbled.
“I love you too… so much…”
He smiled, grasping my cheek and pulling me up to his lips. I kissed back softly, pressing a hand against his chest. Feeling his heartbeat under my palm, I hummed a sigh.
Letting him go was hard, and being without him was going to be so much harder. But I had faith in him. I believed that he was going for a good reason, and I believed in him completely. I wanted to show him that, and I wanted to have one last decent night with him before he left.
Spent with hushed promises and lots and lots of kisses.

Missing You
Summary: A night of fun and relaxation just isn’t in the cards for Ashley right now. Mainly, because she can’t seem to get him off her mind. Good thing she has wonderful friends to help take her mind off of things and help her realize the importance of expressing her problems.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff, angst
((Note: Kind of a continuation from the last angsty fic that I did. It’s been on my mind for a while and I finally got the inspiration to do it. Just a lot of missing and situational stuff. It’s really cute seeing my side of things too because Shiroe’s mood change happens around here and I kind of see it but don’t really know the reason for it. But I mean, we all know it XD also this fic takes place after they capture the pker. also im shitty at summaries XD))
The sound of laughter and conversation was a relief after the several days that we had experienced. It was a nice change of pace, now that everything seemed somewhat at peace. For the moment, at least. Catching this killer, while it was a terrible situation for all of us, wasn’t the only thing on my mind. This whole time, I had felt a dozen emotions all at once. First, I was upset and lonely from having to deal with being apart from Shiroe. Then, I was anxious for a close friend, watching her go through something that seemed impossible for me to fully grasp. And finally, hearing about someone possibly killing adventurers.
It all seemed to be a crazy situation.
But tonight wasn’t about any of that. Now that he was captured, a whole bunch of us were gathered together and spending the night sort of celebrating. It all seemed fine for the moment, and I still couldn’t seem to find myself getting into the spirit.
I wanted to. I tried desperately to smile when Marielle sat beside me, asking if she could braid my hair and we could chat. The last thing I wanted was for her to know I was feeling this way, but there wasn’t anything I could keep from her. As my older sister, she is entirely aware of my ticks. But I’ve been with all of them so long that everyone knows when my emotions are all over the place.
The room was alive with chatter, the other girls laughing and I couldn’t find myself joining them. But because I have the best group of friends, they were immediately there to comfort me. I felt like a child, but right now I couldn’t pretend to be happy when I wasn’t. Henrietta tugged on my shoulders, letting me lay my head on her lap, that she rested a pillow on. Her fingers softly brushed through my hair, unraveling the braid Marielle had made almost an hour ago now.
Akatsuki sat in front of us, her legs folded as she stared at the ground. The look of understanding she gave me before told me that she was already aware of my feelings. I heard Marielle’s voice as she plopped down beside Henrietta, giggling about something she heard on her way over. The familiar feeling of anxiousness started to spread once again. I was afraid that letting my emotions show was going to ruin their good time. That was the last thing that I wanted to do.
I swallowed, feeling Henrietta tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.
“You haven’t been yourself these passed few days,” She spoke up, “I suppose it has something to do with Shiroe.”
I lifted my eyebrows and barked a small laugh, which caused her to chuckle.
“It’s alright. I understand that you’re not used to being apart from him for this long. Besides…” She let out a small sigh, “Things haven’t been at all easy…”
I nodded.
“You know that we’re always here for you, Ashley. What kind of big sister would I be if I didn’t help you through this!” Marielle said, smiling a bit.
“Same here. You know things have been tough for me too.”
Sayeko sat down on the opposite side of Akatsuki, coming back from her short bathroom break to join us. She smiled a bit, and I gave her a small smile back. The two of us probably felt the exact same in this situation, and a part of me felt a bit selfish to act this way. I also felt like a child, being upset and almost crying over this. It was pathetic. I can’t be apart from him, and that made me pathetic.
“Thanks guys,” I said, “I’m okay… just having a hard time tonight. I’m sorry you have to deal with me sulking…”
“Hush. We’re all friends here to help. You don’t have to be ashamed of your feelings. It’s normal for you to be feelings this way. Being distant from those that you lose isn’t easy.”
Henrietta touched my forehead, continuing to brush back my hair. She hates whenever I call her mom, but she really does act that way. It seems more towards me, but I’ve seen her act similar to others as well. It’s not a bad thing at all. I enjoy her motherly interactions with em a lot. It helps in situations of sadness, especially being in a world that is completely different than your own. Trying to make things work, even though sometimes I can still feel homesick.
Though, I’m lucky to have my sister with me.
“Thanks guys… I really appreciate it… I’m sorry that you have to-”
“What did I just say?”
Henrietta gently tapped my head, causing me to wince and chuckle a bit. She rolled her eyes, but was laughing under her breath.
“Stop apologizing, Ashie! We’re here for you because we want to be!”
“Yeah! And besides, don’t you think Shiroe would want you to be having fun? He wouldn’t like you being down like this at all.”
Marielle smiled, patting my leg for reassurance. I gave a small nod to her, slowly sitting up and allowing Henrietta to sit more comfortably. Slowly wiping away the tears under my eyes, I gave a bigger smile to my friends. I was lucky to have them around me, here to save the day whenever I was feeling down. It was a tough time, but Marielle was right.
She threw her arms around my neck and squeezed, knocking the wind out of my lungs. Though, it was exactly what I needed. I wasn’t going to deny the hug at all. Everyone laughed at the woman’s reaction, and I let her squeeze me until she finally let me go.
“Now, why don’t we get you something to drink? We can play a few games! Or maybe we can tell ghost stories!”
“I don’t know about that one, but I’ll take the games.”
“Oh, come on! It’ll be fun to get a little spooked!”
I rolled my eyes at Sayeko and Marielle. Anything to me sounded like a good idea, though before I could choose anything, I heard a familiar sound. Furrowing my brows, I saw the name flashing in front of my eyes and realized I was receiving a call. My heart jumped in my chest, and I could feel the eyes around me in full curiosity.
“I’m sorry guys, but… I have to go outside for a minute,” I said.
“What is it?”
“Is everything okay?”
I nodded, immediately dashing out of the room.
It was a little stupid of me to go outside, given that my pjs weren’t like the other girls. Mine were literally a shirt and shorts even though it wasn’t appropriate. I couldn’t help it, considering I get hot easily if I’m wearing something longer. The cold air didn’t bother me, though. In fact, I barely even noticed it. The warmth running through my blood right now kept me from noticing, and I felt my face heating up the faster my heart beated in my chest.
Biting my lip, I couldn’t even get a word in before I heard the familiar voice.
“Ashley, are you there?”
I could almost cry, hearing that voice like he was standing in front of me.
It had been a while since we last talked. He didn’t want to communicate unless it was completely necessary, keeping calls to importance only. Though, there was that one time that he had to call me. He said it was because he needed a second to breathe, and it helped me feel better knowing that I was that comfort for him.
Though, the lack of communication was definitely hurting my heart. It was the main reason why I felt so lost and alone. Not being able to hear his voice that often was almost as if he was gone. I didn’t like it, at all. I hated having to be apart from him, and not being able to hear his voice. And it hurt even more when I found out that Naotsugu was breaking that rule calling Sayeko a couple of times more. Not that I wasn't happy for them. I was glad that he was calling her, knowing that she was in the same position I was. It just made me wish I didn’t have a boyfriend that was so… by the book.
“Yeah, I’m here… it’s so good to hear your voice,” I said, not caring that my voice broke a bit.
There was a soft pause, before Shiroe spoke up again. I could hear the smile in his voice, and it made me grin.
“It is… I miss you so much… but I have good news.”
“You do?”
“Yep. It’s over… finally…”
When he said those words, I felt like I could cry. Even more. It almost felt like a dream, hearing his voice and feeling the coolness of the air around me. A part of me thought that I’d wake up and this would all be a crazy dream. But it wasn’t… Shiroe was talking to me, and I was standing out in the cold hearing him say it.
My heart leapt in my chest, and I couldn’t stop smiling. My cheeks already hurt from all the smiling, but I was extremely happy. It made up for the hard time I was having just a moment ago. It felt like I was finally getting a break, after the days of emotional shit I had to deal with.
“That’s… that’s so great, babe. Did everything go okay? According to plan… I guess…” I giggled a bit.
“Yeah, well, you could say that. We should be home in a couple of days. There’s so much that I want to tell you.”
I smiled, leaning against my palm and closing my eyes.
In my head I could see him smiling, and I could almost feel him near me. It reminded me just how thankful I was. To be completely in love with this amazing and adorable man. I couldn’t wait for him to be standing in front of me for real. To be able to hold him and kiss him and never let him go. He was never going to leave my side again. I was going to make sure of that.
“I can’t wait, baby… I want you to tell me everything, and don’t leave everything out. There’s so much that we need to make up for… things have been difficult without you.”
“I know… and I can’t wait to see you. I’m sorry it’s been hard for you. Trust me… it hasn’t been easy for me either,” Shiroe mumbled, and a part of me wondered if he took that harder than I intended, “But I promise I’ll make it up to you.”
“I know you will. I just want you to be home… that’s all I want.”
I smiled, biting my lip.
Shiroe and I talked for a little bit longer, mainly just discussing plans for when he returned. He sent me a message from Naotsugu to Sayeko, which I gladly said that I would give. Although, I knew that she’d want to hear from him personally. It was nice to have a long conversation with him, and I could sense something different from the last time we spoke. It was a good thing, but I couldn’t quite grasp the reason.
Not that it was ever easy with Shiroe.
Eventually, I started crying, tears streaming down my face. I was just so happy. Shiroe was telling me just how much he loved me and missed me and I lost it. I didn’t want him to know, but he knew me better than that. He knows whenever I’m crying, and I could hear him stumble on his words a bit.
“I need to go,” Shiroe said, “I don’t want to, but… there’s a lot we need to prepare for.”
“Okay, baby. Thank you for calling me…”
“Of course… I’ll see you soon. And Ashley… I love you.”
“I love you too. So much.”
I smiled, feeling my voice breaking once again.
Shiroe and I said our goodbyes, quickly hanging up before we decided to stay on for longer. My heart felt heavy, but it was fine. I felt fine. For the first time in a month, I felt okay. Excited even. Knowing that he was coming home brightened my mood, and I knew that I would be able to finish the night on a good note.
It almost made me feel like this was meant to be. It had to be. The phone call just after I was feeling down, and now I felt on top of the world. It was the best way to end the night. And I couldn’t wait for the next couple of days when Shiroe finally returned home.

Taking The Plunge
Tumblr media
Summary: Shiroe didn’t expect to do this at this exact moment. He wanted to wait for the right moment, but when plans change, he decided to up his plans as well. It became the best decision he could ever make in his entire life.
W: self-insert x canon, fluff
((Note: Don’t say it. I know I’ve already written about this ending on a couple of occasions, but I got this idea, and I really think this is how we’re going to keep it in canon timeline and not my au. This is the moment, the last episode, where the deal is finally sealed! It’s not changing, and I really hope you guys like this.))
@self-shipping-angel
“Ashley! Watch out on your right!”
I heard the shout, quickly turning to see a blast heading straight for me. Luckily, one of the others nearby used a protection spell to make sure the blast didn’t do much damage. I landed wobbly on my feet, letting out a few puffs of breath. My lungs felt heavy, and I tried to breathe even though the building we were in felt suffocating. My levels were dropping rather quickly, but I was mainly just feeling weak from the exertion my body had been going through for what felt like forever.
“If you need to rest, take a break,” Shiroe’s voice echoed in my ear, “I’ll have someone stay back to watch your back.”
“I’m… fine…”
That wasn’t with much conviction, but I tried to smile through it. The emotional and physical toll was what really caused all this fatigue. It’s one thing for my new body to go through all this fighting, but with that plus the worry and the stress I’d been under… it was honestly understandable that I’d be tired. I was through with this, and I just wanted to finish.
“Ashley, don’t be stupid. If you need to rest-“
“I said I’m fine!” I cut Akatsuki off as I raised my bow to send a charmed arrow into the air, “Focus on the battle and not on me.”
I didn’t mean to be so curt, but at this point I wasn’t seeing passed anything else. I was tired of being seen as weak, even now. They both seemed to understand the seriousness in my voice, and they let it go.
The rest of the time, I didn’t have to say much. With Shiroe doing his best to redeem himself, and my silence just made it easier.
My emotions were on a high the entire battle. I felt my blood rushing through my veins, but it all seemed to disappear the moment I realized it was over. We had won. It was all going to be okay. It might not have ended the way that we hoped, but… it was over for the time being. We still had a lot to do, but… it felt like another part was over. And for now I just felt relieved.
“That was awesome, Ashley!” I felt the arms digging into my neck the moment the girl bounced onto me, clinging to me and rubbing her cheek against mine, “You were so badass! I saw the way Shiroe was looking at you. He was so worried. You two are a freaking amazing power couple! I’ve never seen something so amazing!”
“Tetra- please… you’re…. squeezing… really tight.”
“Oops. Sorry.”
Tetra giggled, quickly letting go of me and plopping down beside me. I took a couple deep breaths, smiling weakly over at her.
“But thanks,” I mumbled, “You were pretty good yourself.”
She smiled broadly, and just in time for Marielle to come running and squeeze me to her as well.
She began to pet my hair, pulling me down into her lap without warning. “Ashie! I’m so glad you’re okay! I was so worried back there!” She cooed, “You looked so serious. Almost like Shiroe, don’t tell me you two are so in sync that you just connect so well!”
I narrowed my eyes, trying to wiggle from my grasp.
“Can we compliment me without bringing Shiroe into this?” I asked.
“Of course! I’m sorry! I was just… oh, Ashie!”
I sighed, smiling when Marielle pulled me towards her chest and hugged me close. I could tell that she was just trying to be sweet and kind like she always is. So I let her hug me as close as she wanted. I let her snuggle close to me, and I let her be as emotional as she wanted.
The only person that didn’t come to find me was the one person I wanted to see. I was a little hurt, given that he was the one person I wanted to see. The only person that I wanted to make sure was alright and hold close to me. My eyes skimmed the area for him or listening for his voice.
Once I heard him speak up, and saw Naotsugu’s armored frame that I couldn’t miss, I jumped to my feet. “Guys, I’ll be back,” I said. They all seemed to understand where I was going. It didn’t take a lot to realize who I wanted to see. My speed seemed to quicken the closer I got, hearing his cute voice and smiling with only one corner of my lips.
“There you are,” I said, tapping his shoulder, “I thought you were avoiding me.”
Shiroe turned around, looking down at me and smiling a bit.
“Of course not. Sorry, I got a little distracted...”
“Don’t worry, babe. I get it.”
I leaned up to kiss his cheek, and I felt his arm wrap around me almost instinctively. I was a bit surprised given that we were still surrounded by everyone, but in this moment all we wanted was to be close. His breath tickled my skin, and I let out a sigh of relief. The closer he held me against him the more that I felt safe and calm and protected. I never wanted to leave his side again. And after today. I wouldn’t.
Pulling away from him, I left one more kiss on his temple and fell back to my heels. It was difficult to do this with all the eyes that were watching me, and immediately both our cheeks reddened. I watched Shiroe rub the back of his neck and clear his throat, glancing behind at Naotsugu before speaking up a bit.
“I hope you’re not still mad at me… about earlier…”
“Of course not! Don’t worry about it. Everything’s fine, it’s in the past. We’re good.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, good,” I said, giggling a bit.
The awkward laughing between us was just another sign about how we always felt when interacting in front of tons of people. I could feel the burning in my back, and I knew that Shiroe could feel it too. Not that any of them meant any ill will. I could practically hear the giggles from the girls behind me, and the murmurs that I was sure were all about us. I had to deal with it all day, but I still wasn’t used to it.
Smacking my lips, I placed a hand on my hip and ruffled my hair. My tails were dancing in the air rapidly, which gave away my inner emotions. Shiroe always thought it was cute, and I always noticed how he would watch them and smile a little. But that didn’t help my blush at all. God, why was it so hard to talk to my boyfriend right now! It was almost like there was a tension in the air.
“Anyways, yeah… I should get back to Marielle. Let you guys, uhm… get back to it!”
“Good idea, Shiroe. I think that-”
“Hold on a second.”
Me and Naotsugu lifted our eyebrows when Shiroe held up a hand to him. I wasn’t sure why he wasn’t in a hurry for this moon communication thing, but he seemed awfully serious at the moment. It was weird, how he went from smiling at me and blushing, to serious. Adjusting his glasses, Shiroe turned to me and motioned for Naotsugu to leave us alone for a second.
“Shiroe… uh… what’s going on?” I asked, nervously.
He wouldn’t look at me for a few seconds, scoping at the room and apparently thinking hard about something.
“Ashley… there’s uh… something that I wanted to ask you.”
My heart fluttered at those words, and I felt him slowly grasp my hands. Another display of affection that I never expected in a crowded room like this. Now all eyes were on us, checking out the serious conversation that was going on. The tension I felt from earlier seemed to grow, and then I was certain that this was planned all along.
But I nodded, wanting to know what was going on in that mind of his.
Shiroe tried to smile, but I could see through those eyes. He was nervous about something. What could he be nervous about? It definitely made me a little nervous too. I didn’t understand what he would want to talk to me about right now, in front of all of our friends and the other guild members. There wasn’t anything that came to mind, not from all the conversations we’ve had about this day.
Naotsugu didn’t even know by the looks of it, as he stood near the wall with folded arms. Sayeko came out of nowhere to stand beside him, and she took was a little confused. I bit my bottom lip, taking in deep breaths to listen to Shiroe’s words.
“I didn’t plan to do this at this exact moment, but… after everything that’s happened I feel like it’s appropriate,” He said, using one hand to yet again adjust his glasses, “In front of our friends.”
I didn’t want to interrupt him, but I was genuinely confused.
Thankfully I wore my gloves, because otherwise Shiroe could tell my nervousness from my sweaty palms. His eyes were all that I could look at. He was all that I could see. Even though I was worried, I had a deep feeling in my heart that it was important to him. Something important to him would be important to me. I just knew it.
He gave my hands a squeeze, smiling a little wider.
“I know that it hasn’t been long, but… getting to know you and be with you is the best thing that could ever happen to me. Even though, things might take a little longer than we thought… I’m not all that worried, because I’m still with you. I wanted to do this later… in the real world, but… I really don’t think I can wait that long.”
Now, my heart started to beat faster.
I heard a few gasps fill the room, and I couldn’t swallow my throat was so dry.
Shiroe’s hand was definitely shaking now. I could feel it around my own, and I squeezed it tight to help him through. This was a lot for him. In a crowded room like this, I didn’t think that he had it in him to do this. He’s grown so much over this time that I’ve gotten the pleasure of knowing him. He’s so different than the man I met that day at Crescent Moon.
I feel so proud of him. I never doubted him for a second. Not even when it seemed like he was falling apart on the battle field, I knew that he would find a way to break free of it. I trusted him, and I loved him with my whole heart and soul. He was the man that I could see myself with. Forever.
Shiroe took a deep breath, and I saw his face grow paler than I’d ever seen it before.
I wasn’t sure if he was scared of my answer, or just feeling anxiety about doing this in front of so many people. Or both.
“Ashley, would you marry me?”
That was it. The moment that my heart bursted from my chest. The exact second when I felt my entire being shift into something… amazing. I had never been happier than I was in that moment.
My eyes widened, and everyone in the room was silent and still. They were hanging on their own breaths, waiting for my answer. I was surprised Marielle was quiet right now. Sayeko, out of the corner of my eye, was pressing a hand to her mouth and holding back tears. It was impossible for me to do the same. The second those words escaped his lips, I was crying.
Crying like a god damn baby in front of everyone. But I sure as hell didn’t care.
Shiroe searched my eyes, anticipation filling them with every passing second. It seemed that he was worried for only a second before my lips curled into a grin. “Of fucking course I’ll marry you! You dork!” I chirped, leaning up to throw my arms around him. I could hear him chuckle in my ear, a sigh of relief escaping his lips.
The squeeze that he gave me was the tightest hug I’ve ever gotten. I felt tears streaming down my cheeks, and I could barely breathe. But I was happy. The happiest that I could ever be at this moment. I never knew that he would ask me this right now, but I was so god damn happy that he did.
Yes, it was a little early, but I knew that I loved Shiroe. I knew that he was my soulmate. There wasn’t a second that I doubted it. He was the man I couldn’t imagine myself without. I’ll be with him far after we’ve made it home. It gives me a life to look forward to, and a life to keep here in this one.
When I pulled away from him, I pursed my lips and heard the erupting of applause from everyone in the room. It made me realize just how many people were watching, and then I was embarrassed again. My cheeks turned red, although they were already red from my tears. Marielle was shouting and waving her arm excitedly, while Tetra was asking if she could sing us a song to commemorate the moment. I giggled under my breath, hiding my face in the crook of Shiroe’s neck.
That just made everyone ‘awe’ all at once.
Sayeko was literally jumping up and down, holding onto Naotsugu’s arm for dear life. I made eye contact with her and could see her thumbs up. I was happier knowing that everyone else was happy for us. It made this moment perfect. All of our friends were here to see it and witness it. Shiroe did a good job. I was so relieved and loved and amazed.
I’ll remember this day forever.
Congrats came and went, long after we made our trek back to Akihabara and back home to Log Horizon. I listened to the twins go on and on about if we’ll have a wedding here. Serera was begging for us to let her plan and what meals they could make. Sayeko was giggling about the dress and then her dress for being my maid of honor, which then became an argument between her and Marielle about being my maid of honor.
Then, Akatsuki was rushing in to intervene about her being the maid of honor. Tetra was asking to sing, and sing right now again to commemorate. Naotsugu was talking about the fucking wedding night, of course.
It was a lot, but Shiroe and I couldn’t stop laughing at them all.
When we finally made it back and everyone was talking about eating dinner, I was surprised when Shiroe stopped me before I could enter through the door. “We’ll meet you guys inside,” He said, “I want a moment with my wife to be.” When he said that, my legs turned to jelly. I felt my face growing hot, and I could tell he loved the sound of that too.
I turned around, pursing my lips and looking into his happy eyes. It made me feel amazing to see him like this. I’ve never seen him happier. His skin practically was glowing which was such a new thing for him. It made me want to tear up again, because I felt so good to know he was happy. There were plenty of nights were I worried about him. Whether he was feeling okay and doing good and taking care of himself both physically and mentally.
It broke my heart to watch his break down. To see the pain in his eyes. I loved him so much that I would do anything for him. I would go anywhere just to make sure he always smiles. Nothing is too good for my Shiroe. My enchanter. The keeper of my heart.
“There’s one more surprise, I promise,” He said, “For today, at least.”
“Shiroe… you’re going to make my heart stop.”
“That’s okay… you have mine just in case.”
He kissed my hand, and I playfully slapped his arm for that one.
“Nice one. Really good,” I teased, hearing him chuckle loudly.
God, I loved that laugh.
My husband to be. My fiancé. Damn, that sounds so nice. I could say that over and over again on loop. Which, I most likely will. To everyone, even if they tell me to stop. I never will.
“I don’t want to keep you long-”
“Well, duh, not when there’s possible food waiting.”
“This isn’t a joke, Ashley. Not if he’s making curry.”
“Shiroe, I swear to God, just tell me!”
He laughed again, holding up a hand.
That’s my big dork. I didn’t really expect anything less from him.
He reached into his bag that lie at his hip, searching inside of it for a fraction of a second. Lifting my eyebrows curiously, I leaned in to try and see for myself what he was grabbing.
Quickly he turned around, narrowing his eyes at me and making me fall back on my heels again. I smiled innocently, hearing him tell me to close my eyes. This only made me more impatient. But I did as I was told, shutting my eyes tight and waiting for him. He definitely made me wait for it, teasing me with kisses to my cheek and nose and forehead before slipping on something onto my finger.
I gasped, my eyes opening suddenly to look down at the beautiful ring he put on my finger. It was a lavender purple, that shined when the fading sun hit it just right. When I investigated it further, I read the stats that it had given me, noticing that it wasn’t just some piece of jewelry. Which, even if it was, I’d still love it. But he clearly wasn’t going to just give me one for accessorizing.
“It came from a drop from a boss, but I had no use for it. So I figured that you could have it. I want to give you something nicer when we make it to the real world, but for now… this’ll work.”
“It’s beautiful and handy! I love it! Thanks, love.”
I leaned up to peck his lips, smiling warmly.
“I’m glad you like it. Only the best for my angel.”
I giggled, poking his nose.
“That’s good. I like that one. A lot.”
Shiroe blushed a little bit, but smiled bigger than I’d ever seen him. The fact that he’s smiling like this and happy makes me giddy. I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.
As we turned around to make it back inside, I laced my fingers through his own.
“Y’know… isn’t the tradition to get down on a knee and ask me?” I asked.
“For you, maybe. Different cultures have different traditions.”
“True, but… it’d be nice to see you down on your knee-”
Shiroe squeezed my hand harder, making me yelp a bit before I could finish my sentence. This only made me glare while he just snickered.
This was my dork. And I couldn’t be happier to finally call him my husband.
