hello my dearest maiden ~ i have a scenario that i would like to share. warning can be suggestive 👀👀

so picture this, its a hot day so our dear skele boys and MC decide to go to the beach for some fun and to cool down a bit. then they decide to go swimming! duh! MC suggests that they should play Chicken fight (the one where you sit on someone else's shoulder and push the other team down).

how would they react if MC sat on their shoulder and/or how would they react if she sat on someone else??

(bonus points this event took place when all the guys had crushes on her cause yknow i love drama, extra extra bonus if MC has thick thighsss)

Sans His Shoulders - He’s more confused about how he got roped into all this before becoming extremely flustered. This might come across as uncomfortable but only because he has no idea what to do or how this happened.

Someone Else - Actually prefers this, there is a nice view from the side of the game and he thinks you’ll both have more fun this way. Plus he’s not in danger of getting flustered and embarrassing himself.

Papyrus His Shoulders - He’s just very excited about the game and doesn’t think too much about it. It just seems like a fun idea to him and he’s always up for doing fun activities. He’s a great partner and has no problem lifting you up, the two of you dominate the game easily.

Someone Else - He really doesn’t mind as it’s just a game. As long as everyone is having fun he isn’t going to throw a fuss although he does manage to get in your good books by cheering you up when you lose a round and hit the water pretty hard.

Red His Shoulders - He has no idea how he was lucky enough to be paired with you but he isn’t going to complain about it. He will make several inappropriate jokes and take the opportunity to grope your ass claiming his hand simply slipped. He is very much enjoying himself

Someone Else - He’s going to grumble about it but actually doesn’t do much. He wouldn’t want to be on his team either so it’s fine. He tries to convince himself that it’s just a game and for fun and after a while he starts to believe it and enjoy his time.

Edge His Shoulders - He gets very quiet but does play alone. Really he’s trying not to show how excited he is but everyone else can see him blushing that he gets to be so close to you. He is a perfect gentleman for the whole game and the two of you do pretty well even if he does get distracted a few times by how soft your thighs are.

Someone Else - He will huff about it but at the end of the day you choose who you wanted to be partnered so he won't make a big deal out of it. In fact he becomes very focused on the game and makes it very fun for you.

Blue His Shoulders - he is so excited and pumped. Declaring that the two of you will be the best partners ever and you'll destroy the other teams. His hand may slip a few times but with his sincere apologies you're sure it was an accident. Of course the others don't miss his smirk or blue tinted cheek bones.

Someone Else - he might pout a bit hearing your choice but he won't let it show for to long. Instead choosing to sabotage your partner any subtle way he can think of. Look if he can't be partnered with you he's at least going to win.

Orange His Shoulders - Heck yes, he is so excited. He loves the feeling of your thighs wrapped around his skill and he wants this moment to last forever. After a while though he sort of forgets about the position as his competitive side takes over and he gets really into the game.

Someone Else - He’s pissed that you’re on someone else’s shoulders, he has a bit of a jealous streak which he is trying to work on but it’s still pretty obvious that he’s upset. He may have blackmail on all of the other skeletons though and might just use it to trade places UNLESS he is the one fighting you then his competitive side takes over and all he wants is to crush you.

Berry His Shoulders - Is super embarrassed. He doesn’t want you to pick anyone else but being this ‘intimate’ in public is very much throwing him off. Even though you're not being intimate at all technically. He forces himself into work mode and is uncharacteristically quiet as he tries to focus on the game and not how good your thighs feel.

Someone Else - You know he will verbally tell everyone just how upset he is about your decision although will also refuse to be your partner if you offer to swap, denying that he wants to be your partner. He does end up playing but is mad about it the whole time.

Syrup His Shoulders - This is his heaven. Even if it annoys his brother there is no way in hell that he is giving up this opportunity. Having you this close to him with your bare skin is driving him crazy. His hands slightly dig into your thighs as he holds you in place. He won’t be concentrating to much on the game

Someone Else - He’s a bit disappointed although will try not to let this show and just get on with the game even if he doesn’t really want to play. He won’t sabotage anyone but he does plan to get you alone after the game.

Hey, my friend wants to get started in voice acting but doesn't really know where to start... Do you possibly have a F.A.Q or a list of resources maybe? I'd really appreciate it! <3

I can give some pointers sure! I'll do two segments, the equipment/software part and then the actual acting part, it ended up being way longer than I intended so check it out below:

For hardware it's definitely easiest to start with an affordable USB mic. Ignore all the bullshit that people say of like "ThE bLuE yEtI iS gArBaGe" cuz first of all they're overreacting, it's perfectly fine, and second of all you're literally starting out so you don't need to spend hundreds and hundreds if not thousands on audio equipment. Hell if you've got an iphone you can use the audio recording thing built into that, it'll just be difficult to get consistent sounding audio unless you get a stand and filter for it. I'm getting sidetracked but yeah any blue microphone is great to start out with, I also recommend Audiotechnica, their AT2020 USB is what I started with and it served me well for many years and I think these days it's cheaper than the yeti even.

I also highly recommend a good stand and most importantly some sort of pop filter for the mic, if your microphone comes with a stand thats good and all but uh make sure it's a good stand cuz it sometimes isn't lol, like the AT2020's default stand is so flimsy and top-heavy and shitty. You want something with either a good solid base or a wide enough base that it will support the mic and not wobble or topple. It's easy enough to find one-size-fits-all mic stands online, so don't worry about that too much, but definitely look into what pop filter works well and works for you.

A filter like this is gonna be very good but it can be tricky if you're tight on desk space. Otherwise you can get filters that go right over the mic like a sock and those work well enough but you'll need to still be aware of plosives (sounds like your P or T sounds) cuz those may still pass through the filter.

And then as far as software, just use Audacity. It's free, it's user friendly, you can get tons of plugins for it, it's free, there's like 5 billion tutorials for it online for whatever effect you're trying to achieve, and on top of that it's free. If you wanna sink your teeth into something more then you could do Reaper, which is less user friendly but you can do more with it and mess around with stuff easier for reasons that I won't bog this down with any more than I already have. It's not free, but only technically. It's a "paid" service, by which I mean they do charge a full price for it, but they offer a full-usability free trial of it and out of principle do not stop you from just using that trial forever and ever and never paying. Do I feel bad about abusing this loophole? Yes, but they surely knew it would happen so yknow power to the people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One final note on the technical side, be aware of your surroundings. You may wanna figure out ways to dampen audio around you in case it'll leave background noise in your recording. Audacity has a built in noise reduction tool which has saved my ass so many times so that's good to use, but it won't work miracles. Don't expect to record with your family talking in the background and for your audio to be fine in the end, you'll still wanna make sure you can record in silence without bothering other people and cut off outside noises (air conditioning, noise from a window, etc) as much as you can. A physical solution to just static background audio is to get a shit ton of noise dampening foam panels and either pin those on the wall around where your computer is or find creative ways to hang them up around you. My solution was to get an affordable room divider with fabric panels and attach the foam to that so I could prop them up around me. But that isn't really necessary when you're getting started lol. If you don't mind being sweaty you can just throw a blanket over yourself and your computer and record in there. If you've got like a spare closet you can bring a laptop, mic, and small folding table or something into, even better!

So you get yourself a nice microphone, you get comfortable with Audacity, and you're ready to go. Now what do you do?

You learn to act.

It seems obvious but it also feels important to say it out loud just in case, voice acting is acting and if you wanna get good at it you have to put in time and effort to practice. Do you need to go and get a theater degree? No but if you're anything like me and you're on tumblr in 2023 I bet you already have one. But if you don't and you havent studied acting before, I do highly encourage taking an acting class if you're able to. If not, aside from whatever studying on the "craft" you do on your own, you just have to dive in and work at it. I feel confident as a performer right here right now, but that's because I did do a full 4 years studying and performing and on top of that I've been doing voice acting stuff online for a decade now. So if you get all the equipment and you start doing it, please don't be discouraged if it takes you time to sound good. It's not just about how to act, it's about how to work with a microphone, it's about understanding what you're saying in a way that communicates the performance with *just words* cuz you ain't got a body to help with it. It'll take time, but just keep at it.

I think a lot about this series of videos that Tom Scott made about making content online and "being successful," I'll link those videos here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3. Anyway the gist of it is that it's very easy to feel discouraged by many things, whether it be because one video you made got a lot of views even though you put seemingly little effort into it or it wasn't up to your standards, or you put a lot of effort into something and it got no attention at all. You'll put a lot of coal into an engine that seemingly will burn it all away and pick up very little power from it, and you'll probably do that a lot to the point where it feels pointless. Maybe once in a while you'll get a burst from it, but then back to just smoke. Don't stop. Keep making things. Keep working at it and eventually you'll get to a point where you've made so much stuff and done so many things that even if you look back on things and go "that was terrible" or "I didn't know what I was doing back then," it doesn't matter! You made all that stuff! You've got so much experience under your belt! And I bet dollars to donuts you learned so much and grew so much without even realizing it, because if you are able to look back and cringe at your former self then that means you've grown and developed. You can still judge yourself all you want, but it's better than what you were doing 4 years ago. So just find things you wanna record just for the hell of it, a poem or a fandom comic or a novel you like or funny tumblr posts or tweets or whatever the fuck. Just record it, slap it together in whatever editing software you like (good free/affordable video editing software is a whole other can of worms but my short advice is keep your eyes peeled on humble bundle cuz they've done deals with vegas pro in the past) and put it up on youtube or tumblr or tiktok or wherever. Just make stuff, keep making it for your friends or whatever amount of followers you may acrue, but most importantly make it for yourself. If you don't enjoy the process then you're not gonna get far. Find joy in the process of creating and learning and growing, and at the end you'll have a giant pile of experience you can pull from to go forth and voice act the shit out of some stuff.

I hope this far too long beginner's guide can help your friend out, but if there's anything I missed or any clarifications please feel free to ask me to expand on this! But yeah I wrote way more than I anticipated so I'm gonna go back to playing tears of the kingdom

Ok so no one else will talk about this and ur the only one I've seen that hasn't just paired Hank off with 2b just bc dei n San are already together in their hcs- (I love me some 2bhank don't get me wrong, but I feel like that's wasting so much potential for this characters, ESPECIALLY 2b who I only ever see in content bc it's 2bhank content, and is rarely explored outside of that. And like- they never do Hank learning how to care for others either- dhsjs-) BUT I saw ur 2bford post and Ive been thinking, bc for ur thing to happen dei has to- well- die, and they're comforting eachother because there's literally NO other person that's an option for human comfort, so their kinda pushed into that otherwise they'll spiral, but then I realized that even when the others are alive 2b will kinda instinctively turn to San for comfort anyways, (much like dei does-) Deimos death or no. I find it that dei will want to TRY to comfort 2b, but generally is used to using humor to ease situations, and humor doesn't feel like it'd help the type of person that 2b is, so I feel like sans mom friend personality will spark up him comforting 2b during a night where 2b refuses to sleep or something. (Which this time, UNLIKE dei who I feel like would be the one to go to Sanford first, for like hugs n shit.) I just love ur post bc it opened my eyes to the potential of these characters outside of just throwing two together and not regarding canon, slapping a sugar coating on their trust and personalities that makes em softer. I love LOVE those fics and their great, but there isn't enough where people actually explore the canon personalities, and try to make it work and make sense anyways, even with all the setbacks. blinks. holy shit. NBMASNGBASG??? THANK YOU?? im glad im able to open up a lot of people's minds to a more canon approach to their relationships. yeah, i love me some 2bhank too, but in all honesty i just dont see it working out at all. sure, there can be attempts, but hank's never going to be the relationship kind of person. at least not long-term. im a person that has the idea of them being together at some point, but splitting up because their differences and own personal problems got in the way of everything. because of this, they're still on edge with each other, and i want to make that apparent.

but i also dont want hank to be a mindless asshole, yknow? he actually goes through serious character development throughout the series, and it shows!! he may start out like a machine built just for murder, but if you look at hank from, say, a project nexus standpoint and then compare it to the time he saves sanford's ass in mc10? he's gone from being able to kill his own teammates to get what he wants to realizing that he's actually formed an attachment, and that having someoen by his side can make things so much easier in the long run. sure, he's still a bastard, but that doesn't mean he refuses to show a softer side to himself.

what i like about madness combat as a whole is that there's so much character in each individual frame alone for us to pick apart and analyze. you can tell that when sanford sees deimos' dead body for the first time that he's actually upset, but he doesn't have the time to grieve or mourn because hey, something is actively trying to kill him too. it makes you think about what would have happened if he DID have that time. or what happens after things slow down, if they ever do.

even with doc's short screen time, you can tell he's a cranky individual. but if you were to look into mpn2's arena mode storyline (yes, im bringing this up because it's actually interesting), he has SO much more personality. he's crazy fucking smart, and he doesn't take any bullshit. hell he runs a bunch of vampires over with a car and brushes it off like it was nothing. he's a badass and no one would be able to tell unless they looked to madcom's other medias, at least until the next episode drops.

my point is that it's worth doing the character studies. yeah, you can craft your own world where things are completely different and everyone's happy with each other, and that's completely fine!! i just like a more realistic approach to canon, and i do my research to make sure i'm getting things right. it's worth it in the long run because i have so much to work with, and a lot of personality i can develop in the characters themselves. it makes for a great story if you know what to do with it.

this was long, sorry, but i enjoy talking about these things. i LOVE seeing other people's headcannons and aus, especially where things get better, but then i look at mine and get so sad because things are just so fucked up there JHBSAMGDABMASDG but hey!! madness in general is fucked up if you know where to look. i'm a kind of person that loves crafting theories so the more deep and disturbing lore really gets the old rusty gears turning ;)

what're your thoughts on castlevania (the netflix show, not the game, ive never played the game) what do you like, what don't you like? make it as long as you want. i don't care if i have to scroll for 5 minutes. go feral (personally trevor is extremely hot and i would like to date sypha. i'm not really into alucard's whole sickly victorian child aesthetic, yknow?)

oh god this is way too long, but you did say to make it as long as i want, and i have a lot of thoughts that i need to inflict on the world

i played two castlevania games, both from the nintendo gameboy era, so please don’t get mad at me, gamers

details below the cut, but since i’ll be talking about season three, i need to preface this with content warnings for mentions of: graphic violence, rape and sexual violence, racism, and the holocaust

before i get into it, i usually don’t go for alucard-type characters either, but knowing that he was redesigned to be bishounen sexy specifically because the boring, middle aged man look he originally had in the games wasn’t appealing makes me enjoy him. and he’s fun with trevor and sypha

do like:

the voice acting

it’s all good. i can’t think of any characters whose voices were awkward or fit poorly. they don't make sypha’s va use the standard flat affect or false high voice women tend to be assigned, trevor sounds suitably worn out but not monotone, and alucard sounds exhausted but in a sexy way

and the spanish dub is killer, arguably superior

the animation & design

it isn’t full-on artsy, but it’s definitely got a distinctive style that’s easy to look at. the color use and effects are gorgeous. it’s a story set in the medieval era, and the mixture of desaturated and oversaturated elements works so well with that

dracula’s castle and the belmont bunker aren't revolutionary in design, but they didn't need to be. they're suitably creepy and empty, and i enjoyed them

the monsters were unique enough to have obvious different types, and the scene where a monster commits blasphemy in a church by accusing a priest of committing blasphemy was good writing

lisa

she shows up to a stranger’s spooky home and scolds him for being rude. she really looked an ancient vampire in the face, told him he had no manners, then had a kid with him. what a phenomenal woman. 11/10, no notes

“start with me, and i’ll start with you.” you know what? i’d fall in love, too

dracula

this ancient, unfriendly vampire let a human woman walk into his home and tell him he’s got no manners. and that made him fall in love with her. just like that. lisa walked in and handed him his ass, and dracula thought “oh i love her”. and when she was killed (more on this in the bad section), he raised literal hell to destroy the world for doing it

speaking of lisa being killed, it fucks me up that it happened because she convinced him to leave the castle and experience the world. he left her alone to see what she loved so much, only to come back and find that the people he’d come to like- the people lisa had loved so much it drove her to help in a way that got her killed- had burned her at the stake. i love a good tragedy, and that’s good tragedy

the way he weeps when he has to fight alucard?? during a showdown in their home?? the “i must already be dead” moment in alucard’s childhood bedroom??? when he speaks to lisa about killing their boy, her greatest gift to him??? poetic cinema.

the trio’s dynamic

three bisexuals with two total brain cells and only alucard bothers using them. incredible

i went so hard for this ot3. it's right there and so good

sypha

she initially seems to be assigned the role of the adult™️ ie she's the only woman and gets stuck being responsible, but surprise! she’s just as annoying and dumb as alucard and trevor. she dropped a castle she didn’t understand on the ground and didn’t think too hard about it. then she argued about breaking it. i love her

if we don’t get an ot3, then she needs to have a dumb gf

alucard

he's got a stupidly low neckline and lower pants. they really leaned into ayami kojima’s redesign, as they should have. his little curl annoys me, though. why the fuck does he have a random section of hair that’s like three inches long when the rest is shoulder length or longer? love that he really looks like lisa

if you say he's canonically bisexual and polyamorous, no he isn't. yes he is. no he isn't :)

trevor

disgusting. a nasty man whose appearance mirrors his state of mind. he's 50 mental illnesses in a dirty jacket and his coping mechanism is… alcohol? maybe? he’s a mess, and i dig it

him trying his trick of kneeing alucard in the balls during their fight? and finding out it doesn't work? (which…… why doesn't it……?) juvenile but suitable

hector

his love of animals makes him my favorite. normally, i won’t touch anything with this much animal death, but i’m willing to set that aside because hector loves them so much. he’s so sweet and kind, and he loves his monster pets

yes he sided with dracula and has some really fucked up ideas about what constitutes humane treatment of people, and yet i love him. 11/10, but i have a lot of notes

isaac

i support him, including his murdering and his decision to support dracula. dracula throwing him out of the castle to save him was so cruel in that it was an attempt at kindness from a man who hated the whole world, but it was against isaac’s wishes

his time with the captain was great

idk enough about islam to know if he's portrayed correctly and haven’t seen any complaints, but given the show’s track record……… i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not great

the forging

very cool. fresh and interesting! hector creating pet friends is cute and heartbreaking. love isaac for his dedication to reducing, reusing, and recycling

season 2’s big battle with all those vampires

the new version of “bloody tears” is phenomenal

this goes back to the animation, but listen……. it's so good. i loved the smoke vampire, and alucard’s fluid wolf transformations. his flying sword looked really good, and incorporating them together? super good to watch. and trevor’s whip?

the type and level of violence are suitable for what it is. it would be weird for a gritty show like this to be bloodless, but i don't think it would work if it were bloody to the extent of a slasher. it's also more clean violence, if that makes sense. you don’t linger just to look at gore; you see it because stabbing someone spills blood. the games weren't about extended, gritty scenes of realistic murder, so the show sticking with quick, slice and dice type fights fit with what i remembered of them

please watch this fight if you don’t remember it or haven’t seen it (part 1, part 2)

trevor’s whips

trevor’s weapons don’t follow the physics of normal whips, and they shouldn't. they’re heavily stylized and clearly a fantasy weapon, but they still have rules that they (mostly) have to obey. his morning star-whip hybrid in particular is so good

it’s easy to follow, too. a lot of times, speedy weapons disappear, which is an understandable effect but one i find boring because there’s nothing for me to do. i’m just sitting on my ass with nothing to do

trevor’s whips don’t disappear. they’re fast, but you can always see them. and they have weight! you can see them slow down and gain speed. i don’t need physics to be real; i want movement to be pleasing, and that’s exactly what i get with the whips

don’t like:

fridging lisa

she could have been kidnapped (possibly make dracula think she was dead bc people want to lure out her scary demon husband, idk), then s2 could have ended with her and dracula reuniting as he died. she and alucard go on a trip together to attempt to make amends for the pain dracula wrought in lisa’s name. orrrr she dies a tragic death with him and we’re left to hope that they find each other in the afterlife. do vampires get to go to the afterlife? can alucard reintegrate? can he be happy with his new friends? or will he go back to his crypt and sleep again? will he ever be rediscovered? if so, what will he do? deep questions. i would prefer to cogitate on these instead of experiencing the shitshow that is s3

season 3

they should have ended it with dracula’s death. the quality of storytelling goes down immediately. just plummets. i’m sure there were problems in the first two seasons, but this one is so bad, i genuinely can’t remember

but i may as well get specific, so here we go:

abandoning alucard

trevor and sypha leave their friend alone in his childhood home where he just killed his father. where they helped him kill his father who, as i’ve said too many times, raised literal hell to get revenge for people burning alucard’s mother to death

yt they don’t talk about alucard. they don’t make any plans to touch base ever again. trevor’s entire family got killed. sypha’s culture, from which she’s now estranged, is family-centric. if ever two people should give a shit about alucard and know why alucard shouldn’t be left on his own, it's them

so what the hell is going on?

look. it could be good. it would be better with alucard but they could be together and it could work fine

but this……….

trevor hates what they're doing. he hates traveling around and fighting. he's clearly tired and deeply depressed

sypha not only doesn't care enough to address it (did they forget the first two seasons?? sypha is annoying partly because she doesn't stop poking people) she might not even notice? yes, she's having fun, but trevor is basically dead on his feet in front of her

the addition of sexual violence

i don’t need or want lenore. if all she’d done was manipulate hector, i could have lived with that. she’s a villain, so she does bad things. that’s the point. but what she did was a massive escalation. we hadn’t had any sexual violence, and then the last few episodes gave us

the holocaust reference

the imagery at the end of s3 when it’s revealed that the judge has been killing people he’s decided are undeserving to live and collecting their shoes in that barn was chillingly close to images of shoes taken from victims of the holocaust. there's no reason to invoke the holocaust here. it’s unnecessary and in bad taste

Fantastic ending to a very good book its, definitely a different energy from the third but I'm really enjoying this I'm still excited as hell!!! I got worried things would get kinda bad from here but nope!!!! Very fun stuff for now this is very very good and I am enjoying it

This is definitely one of the most fun arcs I've read so far!!! The drama the stakes the little moments everything is tying together really well into a very fun story I'm enjoying a lot!

I worry for Twigpaw and hope for her happiness, and Violetshine too, hope her and Hawkwing deal well with missing her. Tree is being interesting. Alderheart wasn't much of a focus here but always fun to see him trying to solve the damn prophecy no leaders seem to care about. Mousewhisker was okay??? Lots of very fantastic turns for all events and uh let's see where this all goes next!!!
