HOLY SHIT
MY OWN TAKE ON WHAT THE PPG WOULD LOOK LIKE AS ADULTS!!
WOAH!!
Tumblr media
But uhhhh yeah
For context
These designs are for an AU I made a while back simply called “The Powerpuff Girls: 20 Years Later”.
It’s a pretty self explanatory AU… at first.
In a nutshell, Professor Utonium has created his own industry & left it in Blossom’s care after his retirement from the scientific field… which he decided to spend by traveling the world.
Blossom, now put in charge of Utonium Industries, spends the majority of her time working, trying to better the world through the power of science.
As a result, she isolated herself from the rest of society to focus on her work, something that has taken a drastic toll on her mental health.
Her sisters, Bubbles & Buttercup, are pretty much doing just fine with Bubbles being a veterinarian & Buttercup being an Athlete. The two frequently try to reconnect with their sister, but to no avail.
There’s a LOT more to this AU, but I’ve already made a few posts about it in the past, so if this lil story interests you, you can check out the tags & find em that way!
Alrighty, imma get some sleep now OWMWKSMWODMOSM

oh 🥺
and flower was there too:
Tumblr media
The Pittsburgh Penguins are supposed to be home with their families now, getting some rest following a 10-day road trip, preparing for the Canucks at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday.
They are not.
Instead, they traveled through the middle of the night to Montreal, arriving at 4 a.m. Then, they slept for a brief period of time before attending the funeral of Claude Fouquet, father of Kris Letang.
While the Penguins were on the Western swing of the road trip that took them through Las Vegas and Phoenix, some of the team’s veterans came together with the coaching staff to discuss a mutual desire to attend Fouquet’s funeral in Quebec.
Mike Sullivan was not only on board with the plan but was one of the people who spearheaded the decision.
The Penguins were then set to return home later today, where they won’t have much time to prepare for Tuesday’s game.
But then, for this group, taking care of teammates is more important than obtaining a certain amount of rest before a game.
This is a particularly vivid illustration of how much Letang means to everyone on this team.
“Such a good kid,” former general manager Jim Rutherford said. “He really is. Life seems to hit him harder than most. But he’s tough. He’ll be OK.”
In case Letang needed their support, his teammates made the decision to sacrifice time with their families to be with him in Montreal.
It wasn’t an easy logistical matter for the organization. A high-ranking member of the Penguins’ front office had to fly to Phoenix on Sunday with a box of necessities: the Penguins’ passports. Their road trip had taken them to Boston, Las Vegas and Phoenix. To enter Canada, however, passports are required.
So, with the documents in hand following Sunday’s game, the Penguins ultimately made the decision to attend the funeral. It wasn’t a choice that came lightly. The Penguins had to consider that funerals are private, emotionally charged experiences. They wanted to be there, yes, but they also wanted to respect the privacy of Letang and his family.
Letang has been teammates with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin since 2006. For 17 years, these three players have been the foundation of the mighty Penguins and, along the way, it’s become clear the friendship these three share is even more powerful than the on-ice magic they still regularly showcase.
They are best friends. When Crosby was honored for playing in 1,000 career NHL games a couple of years back, he remained composed during the ceremony.
Then, the faces of Letang and Malkin flashed on the scoreboard, with each delivering a message. Suddenly, the tears flowed from Crosby’s face.
These are franchise icons, the three players most responsible for a magical time in Pittsburgh sports history. Along the way, they’ve become so close that the idea of playing for any other franchise last summer suddenly seemed absurd. They were brothers for life, on and off the ice.
There were tears in Montreal today, too.
But I’d bet, in what is a horribly sad day for Letang and his family, that the defenseman who has been through so much this season felt a little better, a little more supported, a little more loved and a little more at ease knowing Crosby and Malkin — along with 20 other teammates — were on hand.
Good for the Penguins. Good for ownership for handling the finances of this move. Good for Sullivan and his staff for putting the love of a teammate before previous plans. Good for the players who pushed to be there for their brother.
Good for Letang, too. He lives his life the right way, which is why he is so beloved in that locker room. He lost a member of his family that he loved, and that is a terribly difficult thing to overcome.
But he was surrounded by family in Montreal on Monday. A couple dozen weren’t blood relatives, but are family nonetheless.

OH MY GOSH SOMEONE LEFT A WEIRD LOOKING BABY IN A BOX ON MY DOORSTEP!!!!!!! 😱😱😱
Tumblr media
Actually, it’s an early birthday gift from a dear friend of mine! It's this stupid Mojo Jojo figurine I've seen for years and never got because I don't really collect PPG stuff (I usually just buy weird junk I like the look of regardless of rarity and get things through gifts from people who know me IRL). He’s super goofy looking, yes, but it’s a toy from the original run of the show and I think it’s hilarious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It comes with an Anubis head figurine (SERIOUSLY I AM CRYING I think I might like the head more than I like Mojo 🤣) and one of his guard dogs. Mine doesn’t talk, but it comes with a great diagram on how to replace his batteries:
Tumblr media
Just pull out his spine, nbd.
Anyway, I love it! I don’t know if I want to take him out of the packaging or not because I just love how cool the packaging actually looks (I have some other PPG stuff I’ve kept in packaging, like my space Blossom doll… and I guess I could just put it back in the packaging later, I dunno), but also he should be free to roam and destroy things, and I kinda wanna hear a weird 20+ year old toy try to talk (and possibly share that with you all).

FAQ
Q. What the fuck is wrong with you?
A. I was assigned a miserable bastard at 12 and 3/4ths years old because I'm Allah's least favorite little shit and interpret media in the most batshit convoluted ways imaginable that most likely would give their original creators an aneurysm on the spot. I am playing 12-D chess constantly to create the most convoluted and batshit takes on characters and AUs imaginable. I don't really have an excuse for this I'm just unhinged and you all have to deal with that. Also I'm autistic but in a way that's too weird and not palatable to allistics.
Q. Where can I find your work?
A. Art Blog, Ao3
Q. Are you actually a fiend?
A. Yes I'm an actual fiend, a silly purple imp that shitposts on the internet and talks too much about 90's and 2000's cartoons. Also will talk about Mario, character design, airliners, and my 9/11 historical archival work if prompted. If you mention any mid 90's to mid 2000's cartoon of your choice in a mirror three times, a fat little imp will come out and infodump about the art direction and its influence on the animation industry today for five hours.
Q. Why the hell do you like Jasper, the Rowdyruff Boys, and Jérémie Belpois? Jasper is a piece of shit, the Ruffs are one note and sexist, Jérémie is an asshole.
A. Brain disease called "I have bad tastes regarding fictional characters". Seriously though I find them deeply fascinating characters to dive into with a ton of potential that gets pushed aside both in canon and fanon. I do like them as characters themselves (Jasper is a genuinely tragic and fascinating character so rife with anger and grief that I need more of, the Ruffs are hilarious to me and the original RRB episode is one of the coolest episodes of TV to me and probably my favorite PPG episode besides Boogie Frights (I won't take criticism), Jeremie is such a fucking loser but also super passionate about people they care about and would do anything for them), but I think just how much potential they have regarding my very specific genre of batshit world and character building makes me adore them.
Q. Trans headcanons, go.
A. Transmasc bear seahorse dad Bowser, T4T trans Luigi and Daisy (I have no specific identity for either of them because they're like Jessie and James to me, I can see them as any type of trans and I'd be like "yeah totally"), agender (specifically aroace agender) transfem Cackletta, genderqueer/maverique butch + otter T4T Butch/Buttercup (post-canon: find out in their late teens, come out in their 20's), transmasc Yumi Ishiyama (post-canon: finds out in his 20's and comes out a few years later), transfem Jérémie Belpois (post-canon: finds out in her 20's and comes out shortly after), non-binary Odd Della Robbia (post-canon: finds out in their 20's and comes out in their 30's), non-binary (unlabeled otherwise) Diane Nguyen, agender Pongorma, transfem Somsnosa, transmasc Wayne, this is literally just canon but non-binary Desdemuln (specifically a multigender boygirlthing), the gems in SU are nonbinary so this is also canon but more so specifications but I headcanon Jasper as an agender butch and Amethyst as neutrois.
Bonus: I personally headcanon Professor Utonium as cishet ace but I think you all should take @recoveryshit's later in life trans woman Professor Utonium headcanon into consideration it's very good.
Q. Selfie?
A.
Tumblr media
Q. Why do you talk about grief and fucked up family dynamics so much?
A. I watched Hereditary once back in 2018. All seriousness though, I find diving into family dynamics, particularly nuclear and found family dynamics, to be so fascinating. Especially when they're so clearly rotting and ready to collapse at any moment. Also I talk about grief so much because I'm a miserable bastard.

“Fake Wannabe All-Star” Proves Doubters Wrong
Tumblr media
Tyrese Haliburton is a name that most sports fans should be ready to learn about. Born on the special leap year day of February 29, 2000; the 6′5 point guard from Wisconsin was born with something special about him. Haliburton was drafted out of Iowa State with the 12th pick of the 2020 draft class to the Sacramento Kings. Most basketball fans remember this class through the likes of All-Star Lamelo Ball and 1st overall pick Anthony Edwards. While they may share the spotlight, Haliburton’s rise as steadily been a focus of some select fans. Although he made the All-Rookie 1st Team back in 2021, the Kings seemingly did not think much of his potential because just a couple months later they would trade Haliburton to Indiana. While Sacramento management felt accomplished in aquiring All-Star Domantas Sabonis, many Kings fans were furious at the organization for letting go of a talented young prospect. At this time, Haliburton was averaging 14 ppg (points per game) with about 7 apg (assists per game). With numbers like these, it was uncertain whether he would flourish into a Star, or remain as an essential role player.
After the trade, Haliburton revealed that he cried uncontrollably. At 21 years of age, he had been dealt the harsh reality of life in the NBA. His love for the city or organization had been crushed with a business deal. Although shocked by the news, he manage to tweet out to his fans, “Sacramento, I love y’all! Can’t put all my feelings into words yet, but know I’m forever grateful and appreciative of each and every one of you.”
Now with the Indiana Pacers, Tyrese took a major step into stardom as he no longer had to share the point guard position alongside Kings’ De’Aaron Fox. With the point guard position all to himself, Haliburton exploded this season with his numbers jumping from 15 ppg to 20 ppg this season. His playmaking has also vastly improved as he now leads the entire NBA in assists per game averaging 10 and a half. Haliburton’s defense has also improved as many around the league have claimed. His 1.7 steals per game is in the top 10 of players in that category.
Unfortunately, greatness comes with a price. Hate! No matter how great a player is, or how great of a storyline, there will be haters out there. In Haliburton’s case, we look at former NBA All-Star Wally Szczerbiak. Wally played for multiple teams, however he is best remembered for playing alongside MVP Kevin Garnett on the Minnesota Timberwolves. The former player now turned Basketball Analyst had this to say about Haliburton when he missed a crucial shot in a narrow loss to the New York Knicks. “Mister supposed wannabe fake All-Star with a big miss. He’s a very good player, he’s not going to make the All-Star team. Guys like Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson will make it over Tyrese Haliburton, and tonight we saw why.”
The comments seemed to come from a place of hate and not at all a critique of his play. Some would suggest that Wally should have more empathy given that his only All-Star appearance came down to the wire on whether or not he would make the team. While an arguement can be made about which player deserves to make it, the comments were confusing to Haliburton as he had never mentioned or petitioned to make the All-Star game. He responded saying, ““I know the name Wally Szczerbiak. I couldn’t tell you where he played. Couldn’t tell you what he did as a basketball player. I don’t know. He had a lot to say about me. I was really questioning, first, who is this? And why is he talking about me like this? I think he was just excited about a Knicks win. He’s just doing whatever he can to get attention. That’s just the media these days.”
After a large backlash from the NBA fan base and former NBA player/media member Matt Barnes, Wally Szczerbiak retracted his comments by saying, “I want to apologize personally to Tyrese Haliburton. He’s a wonderful young player and is definitely in the All-Star conversation, along with guys like Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson. It’s going to be interesting to see who makes it. All those three players are wonderful players.”
Although the apology was made, the comments cannot be wiped away from existence. Some fans will choose to use the words “Fake” and “Wannabe” to demean Haliburton’s game. However, Haliburton did not get distracted from this incident. His focus was on playing the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics on the road. With some excellent shooting and determination, Haliburton proved that he wasn’t some wannabe All-Star has he led his team to a victory against the team with the best record in the NBA. In that game, he put up 33 points and 8 assists while also knocking down 6 triples.
In their next game, the Pacers would face the Miami Heat on the road. This was another tough matchup as the two teams sit at 8th and 9th in the Eastern Conference Standings. Given that the Miami Heat won the Eastern Conference back in 2020 and were in the Conference Finals last season, many believed Miami would win this game. Haliburton had other ideas as he notched a career high 43 points with 10 triples made! To wrap up a spectacular performance, he hit an extraordinary 3 pointer from the edge of the Miami Heat logo in the middle of the court to win the game!
Tumblr media
While doubters can continue to criticize or even hate on Haliburton’s game, there is no question that he likes to prove his doubters wrong. With 2 spectacular performances against the last 2 Conference Champions, there is no question that Tyrese Haliburton deserves a spot in the All-Star Game. If you agree with that statement, don’t forget to vote for Tyrese Haliburton for the All-Star Game on the NBA app.

New York Knicks Acquire Willy Hernangómez from Philadelphia 76ers
Tumblr media
On June 25th, 2015, the Philadelphia 76ers traded the draft rights of Willy Hernangómez to the New York Knicks for a 2020 second round draft pick (Tyler Bey), a 2021 second round draft pick (Filip Petrušev) and cash considerations.
Killing two birds with one stone is a phrase that rarely means anything in the NBA but in the case of Willy Hernangómez, it fits. The New York Knicks became fans of Hernangómez while scouting his teammate and friend Kristaps Porzingis at Sevilla of Liga ACB in Spain.
Porzingis was a surefire lottery pick in the 2015 draft, but the Knicks additionally saw something in "Billy" Hernangómez. After taking Porzingis fourth in the 2015 draft, the Knicks pounced on the chance to take Hernangómez. They dealt two of their own second round picks in 2020 and 2021 to the Philadelphia 76ers for the 35th pick which was used on Hernangómez.
A skilled big man, Hernangómez finished well around the paint, had good footwork and could punish teams on the offensive glass. He was limited in lateral quickness on defense and in perimeter shooting.
After the draft, Hernangómez stayed overseas and averaged 5.7 PPG and 3.3 RPG in 34 games with Real Madrid during the 2015-16 season. In the 2016 offseason, Hernangómez signed a four-year contract with the Knicks worth $5.9 million.
Hernangómez was reunited with teammate Porzingis who had a quality rookie year with the Knicks and was a starter. For the 2016-17 season, the Knicks traded for guard Derrick Rose and signed free agents Joakim Noah and Courtney Lee.
The Knicks had a new coach as well in Jeff Hornacek. The new look team began the year a respectable 14-10 in its first 24 games. After 29 games, the team was 16-13 and tied for fourth in the East. The Knicks fell apart soon after, dropping 11 of their next 13 games. The season would come off the rails as New York went just 15-38 over the final 53 games to finish the year with a 31-51 record.
Hernangómez was a bright spot. The big man quickly established a bench role and appeared in 72 games with the Knicks, amassing 8.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.6 SPG and 0.5 BPG in 18.4 MPG. He made the NBA All-Star Weekend Rising Stars Challenge with Porzingis. Hernangómez also made the NBA's All-Rookie first team and earned fifth-place in voting (eight) for NBA Rookie of the Year.
Offensive rebounds became Hernangómez' calling card. Among players that played at least 50 games, Hernangómez was seventh in the NBA in offensive rebound rate (12.3%) per NBA Stats.
The 2017 offseason would see even more change for the Knicks. First, the team added French guard Frank Ntilikina with the eighth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Soon after, team president Phil Jackson and the team mutually agreed to part ways. General manager Steve Mills became lead decision maker when he was promoted to Jackson's role while the Knicks hired Scott Perry as general manager.
The team signed guard Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency. Finally, the team moved unhappy star Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a second round pick.
The Knicks were younger and it was clear a rebuild would center around Porzingis. Hernangómez seemed like a nice complementary piece, but by his second year, he had fallen out of the rotation. The arrival of Kanter and increased minutes for backup Kyle O'Quinn contributed to the decreased role.
By the middle of the year, Hernangómez had wanted a trade and a chance to play. The Knicks soon obliged. He played in 26 games, putting up 4.3 PPG, 2.6 RPG and 0.8 APG in 9.0 MPG. The team was 23-32 when it made the trade.
He was eventually traded to the Charlotte Hornets for two second round picks and forward Johnny Bryant. He ended his tenure in New York with averages of 7.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.2 APG and 0.5 SPG in 98 games. In that time, Hernangómez shot 54% from the field and 63% from the charity stripe in that time.
Tumblr media
Five years after the 2015 draft, the 2020 second rounder Philadelphia acquired was traded with guard Josh Richardson to the Dallas Mavericks for guard Seth Curry. The Sixers selected forward Tyler Bey from Colorado 36th in the 2020 draft and moved him to the Mavericks.
The 2021 second rounder ended up 50th in the 2021 draft and the 76ers selected Gonzaga center Filip Petrušev with the pick. The 76ers stashed Petrušev, and he played in the EuroLeague with Turkey's Anadolu Efes for the 2021-22 season and Serbia's KK Crvena zvezda.
Petrušev wanted to play in the NBA and showed his commitment, playing for Philadelphia's Summer League teams in both 2021 and 2022. After two years of waiting, his dream finally happened. Petrušev signed a contract in the 2023 offseason with the 76ers. The deal was a two-year contract which was 50% guaranteed the first year and not guaranteed the second year.
Petrušev averaged 10.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 1.4 BPG in five Summer League appearances with the Sixers in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Coming into his rookie NBA season, Petrušev joined a Sixers team in turmoil. Guard James Harden demanded a trade and did not join the team on the floor for the start of the season.
Eventually, the 76ers acquiesced to the star's demand, but Petrušev was a casualty of the situation. He played just one game (0 points, 1 rebound) with the 76ers before he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in late October. The trade was a three-team deal that saw the 76ers send James Harden to the Clippers, the Clippers sent two first round picks to the 76ers and a first round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Denver Broncos Regular Season Game 4
Hawk Valley Regular Season Week 4 October 2, 2022
Denver Broncos vs Raiders
Quick Review
The Broncos beat the San Francisco 49ers 11-10. It’s the second straight game that feels like a loss.
Russell is not doing much to change the opinion of football fans that say he’s all washed up. On the Manning cast on Monday night football, Eli said that the Broncos should have given the quarter of a billion dollars to the punter. Russell’s camp came up with a comeback later in the week, which seemed childish. For a quarter of a billion dollars, I’m expecting the quarterback to throw 8 touchdowns per game. Failing to throw a touchdown pass in the last game destroyed the image Russell had built up during the offseason… that he was the cure for the Denver quarterback problem. During the game, somebody noticed that there was a spike in people searching google for the details of Russell Wilson’s contract. Perhaps they were looking for a cancel clause?
Head Coach Hackett and Russell have both said it will take time for the new offense to gel. Through 3 games, the Broncos are averaging 14 points per game. The Broncos offense ranks 15th out of 16 AFC teams. NFL wide, this offense ranks 31st out of 32 teams. Lets get rid of this excuse right now. In 2021 Vic Fangio had the offense averaging 20 points per game, that was enough to have him fired. That team was averaging 25 ppg through 3 games last year. In 21 and 20, Vic Fangio managed 15 ppg through 3 games. In 19, Vance Joseph had the offense humming through 3 games, averaging 27 PPG. In Vance Joseph's first year, the offense averaged 28 PPG through the first 3 games.
Three teams scored fewer points than Denver last week. They were the Niners, Washington, and the Los Angeles Chargers. Each of these teams has a winning percentage of 33% heading into week 4.

Cameron Fleming #73 was flagged for holding. The Niners declined the penalty. On fourth down, with twelve minutes left in the half, at 7:10 pm, Brandon McManus #8 kicked a 55 yard field goal.
On first down, Jimmy connected with Samuel for a gain of 32 yards. He caught the ball falling down backwards. On first down, Wilson ran to the right, but there were two flags on the play. Ray-Ray McCloud #3 was flagged for an illegal shift and Burford was flagged for holding. The Broncos declined the penalty for the illegal shift. On first and 20, Jimmy found Kittle for eleven yards. On second down, the Niner tried a go route but Jimmy failed to connect. On third down, Jimmy tossed another ball to Samuel and he gained five yards. He was injured on the play. On fourth down with 9:46 left, Wishnowsky punted and the ball was downed on the one yard line. The Broncos challenged the spot of the ball claiming that the play should be ruled a touch back, but they lost the challenge. Randy Gregory #5 was flagged for holding on the play.
On first down, from the one yard line, Williams gained seven yards running up the middle. On second down, Russell fired a quick pass to Sutton on the left side for five yards and a first down. Williams carried the ball up the middle for four yards on first down. Russell pitched the ball to Williams and he carried the ball over the right side for three yards on second down. Bronco players that that are listed as questionable include: G Dalton Risner #66 and NT D.J. Jones #97.
Outlook
This is the first divisional game for the Denver Broncos, the Raiders have already lost a divisional game.
Strength of schedule favors the Raiders so far… their opponents have a winning percentage of 33% compared to the Broncos opponents winning percentage of 22%.
The Raiders are averaging 21 points per game. The Broncos are averaging 14. The only team worse than the Broncos is the Colts and the Broncos play them in four days on Thursday night football. The Colts are averaging 13 points per game.
This is one of the highly anticipated games of the season since the Raiders hired X-Bronco head coach Josh McDaniels. He started off 6-0 with the Broncos before the bad times hit and the Broncos became the pit of misery under his leadership. Oddly enough, Josh’s offense with Tim Te bow was better than the offense the Broncos have today. Anything can change, but will it?

Several Former Nailers Playing in Pittsburgh This Weekend
Tumblr media
More than a handful of current and former Wheeling Nailers players will be taking the ice about an hour away from the Friendly City on Saturday, as 3ICE brings its exciting weekly tour to Pittsburgh's PPG Paints Arena. 3ICE is made up of six teams, each with six skaters and a goalie, and five of the six teams feature at least one former Nailer. The games consist of two eight-minute halves with a running clock, and are played 3-on-3. Each weekly stop will have six games played - three opening round contests, two semi-finals, and a championship. All six teams play in the opening round, so fans are guaranteed to see each team at least once. Each team is coached by an NHL legend, and Pittsburgh is the sixth of nine stops on the tour. Team Mullen has had the best success on the tour thus far, as it has posted a 10-3 record and 20 points, led by former Penguin and three-time Stanley Cup Champion Joe Mullen.  Former New Jersey Devil Joe Whitney is Team Mullen's top scorer with 12 goals and 24 points, but he is followed closely by former Nailer Tyler Murovich, who has also turned on the red light 12 times. Murovich had three different stints in Wheeling, with his most successful one coming first in 2010-11, when the Nailers reached the Eastern Conference Final. Tyler tallied points in seven of the final 12 regular season games that year, then tacked on three goals and six points in the playoffs. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native also played in Wheeling in 2014-15 and 2017-18 - the last of which concluded his pro career. Team Trottier is currently in second place with a 5-5 record and nine points, led by former Penguin  and seven-time Stanley Cup Champion Bryan Trottier. New Allen Americans Head Coach Chad Costello is the leading scorer for Team Trottier, as he has collected eight goals and 17 points. There are two former Nailers on that team - Cam Brown and Bobby Farnham. Both players have amassed 12 points on the tour, as Brown has netted five goals and Farnham has netted four. Cam was a fan favorite in Wheeling from 2017-20, as he appeared in 149 games and racked up 44 goals, 87 assists, and 131 points. Since his final campaign with the Nailers, the Natick, Massachusetts native has played two seasons in Europe, mostly with Soenderjyske in Denmark. Bobby's time in Wheeling  was short, as he made a quick impression, which helped him climb the organizational ladder. The North Andover, Massachusetts native registered three goals and four points in nine games as a Nailer at the start of the 2012-13 season, then got promoted to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Two seasons later, Farnham made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh, and went on to play in 67 career games at hockey's highest level, while also suiting up with New Jersey and Montréal. Bobby's most recent season was 2019-20, when he played for the EIHL's Belfast Giants. Third place currently belongs to Team LeClair, which has a 6-5 record and seven points, and is led by John LeClair,  who is also a Stanley Cup Champion, as well as a former Penguin. Team LeClair's leading scorer is also the leading scorer on the tour, and that honor goes to former Nailer Brandon Hawkins. After leading the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs in scoring, Hawkins has picked up right where he left off, and has exploded for 16 goals, 13 assists, and 29 points. The Macomb, Michigan native played his rookie season with Wheeling in 2019-20, and finished third on the squad with 16 goals, 17 assists, and 33 points. He has since gone on to have tremendous success in the ECHL, as he won the Kelly Cup with Fort Wayne in 2021, before reaching the final with Toledo this past year. Fellow 2021-22 Walleye forward TJ Hensick is second on Team LeClair with 22 points. Checking in at the fourth slot is Team Carbonneau at 4-4 and seven points, with two-time Stanley Cup Champion Guy  Carbonneau at the helm. Former Penguin Chris Conner and former Canadien Aaron Palushaj are tied for the team lead with 12 points each, while a couple of former Nailers have contributed to this group as well. J.C. Campagna has collected three goals and four points in five games, while Jordon Southorn has come away with two goals in three games. Campagna's time in Wheeling was limited due to injuries, but he was still able to produce two goals  and three points in five games. J.C. went on to finish second in the ECHL with 35 goals in 2018-19 as a member of the Fort Wayne Komets, and played last year with the Allen Americans. Southorn joined the Nailers in the second half of the 2011-12 season, and accumulated five points in 22 games. Since his time in Wheeling, Jordon has played for four ECHL teams, two AHL clubs, and has also gone to Europe. This past season, he played in Latvia and the Czech Republic. The lone team without Wheeling representation is Team Murphy - the fifth place club which is 4-6 and has six points. Former Penguin and four-time Stanley Cup Champion Larry Murphy is behind the bench for the team that has former Nashville Predator Chris Mueller and 2021-22 Kansas City Maverick John Schiavo as its top scorers with 11 points each. Team Fuhr will be looking to get things rolling after a rough start, which has seen it go 1-7 and earn one point thus far under five-time Stanley Cup Champion Grant Fuhr. Former Nailer Peter Lenes  has been the major source of offense for Team Fuhr, as he leads the way with 11 goals and 12 points. Lenes was acquired by Wheeling in a trade with the Trenton Titans during the 2011-12 season, and spent two years with the Nailers. During that time, he amassed 28 goals, 28 assists, and 56 points in 95 games. He played the remainder of his pro career in Europe, before retiring from playing in 2019. One other familiar name could make his way into a lineup on Saturday, as Tim Doherty is a member of the Taxi Squad. Doherty finished fourth on the Nailers this past season with 17 goals, 28 assists, and 45 points. Saturday's games begin at 3:00. The opening match will be Team LeClair (Hawkins) vs. Team Mullen (Murovich). They will be followed by Team Murphy vs. Team Carbonneau (Campagna, Southorn). The final opening round tilt will be Team Trottier (Brown, Farnham) vs. Team Fuhr (Lenes). For more information on the event, visit 3ICE.com. Read the full article

John Mayer – PPG Paints Arena – Pittsburgh, PA – May 5, 2022
Although this performance was a rescheduled date from back in February, the seats were filled to the nosebleeds at PPG Paints Arena. The stage goes pitch black as the interluding music fades and roars fill the entire stadium and start to crescendo to an intense level in anticipation for the guitar hero of this generation and 2000s heartthrob, John Mayer and his most recent tour return after a three-year break and a four-year interlude without a new album. The concert opens with a prolonged instrumental lead into “Last Train Home” the single off of Mayer’s newest album Sob Rock, and as the stage bursts into very aesthetically 1980’s pastelle lighting illuminating the front man and his band, Mayer stands front with his signature Gray PRS Silver Sky in hand, the crowd follows with an eruption of cheers and screams.
Tumblr media
The stage design and backlighting were absolutely astounding. The backdrop was made up of two screens, one longer and more slanted than the other, which in the opening projected to neon outlined boxes. Using this screen layout, it allowed the graphic designer to create a realistic 3D background with literal depth. While playing “Till The Right One Comes,” the screens, once again using neon outlining, showed a simplistic corner of a room which featured a picture commemorating Mayer’s late friend, comedian Bob Saget, on the wall next to window curtains. Later in the show the screens were used to show a close up of John Mayer’s well-known emotive stage faces and unbelievably fast hands on the guitar.
Tumblr media
John Mayer’s fans did not disappoint as an audience. Mayer told the crowd how an audience like this made him love his songs so much more when he can see the appreciation for his art. A beautiful moment followed when Mayer started playing his hit song “Gravity,” flashlights filled the stadium like stars and were accompanied by the echo of the crowd singing the lyrics along with the famous guitarist and these moments are why we as audience members go to concerts.
Tumblr media
As to be expected by an artist on the level of John Mayer, he gave local yinzers and fans who drove hours to see him quite the show of dazzling lights and projected scenery, unbelievable guitar mastery, moments to let his bandmates shine as the truly talented musicians they all are through his wonderful discography of Folk, Blues, Country, Pop, RnB and of course, his witty stage banter with his adoring fans. Mayer marvelously has reinvigorated new life into his nearly 20-year-old music and let his brand-new work shine. If you ever get the chance to see John in concert, don’t brush it off thinking you’re just going to see the guy who wrote “Your Body is A Wonderland.” Do yourself a favor and go experience this truly fantastic music that has accumulated since 1999 and see one of the greatest guitarists of the past two decades.

SO I KINDA WENT ON A BIT OF A RABMLE ON THE FUNNY BIRD APP…
& imma summarize my “findings” since I’m ABSOLUTELY using this for my PPG AU.
So…
Chemical X, despite almost ALWAYS being depicted as pitch black, has OCCASIONALLY been depicted as an aquamarine-ish color, such as in the episode “Twisted Sister” & in the flash game “Pipeline Panic.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is… a weird coincidence how the only other color it’s been depicted as is SOLELY aquamarine.
& that got me thinking.
Yes, this kind of colorization is definitely not to be taken seriously since I highly doubt it genuinely MEANS anything, buuuuuuut…
Imma make things interesting.
It’s use in the flash game is inaccurate since it depicts the “false” origin of the girls being accidentally created solely by the Professor’s hands, so I’m not using that to make my wack-ass conclusion here.
SO…
This isn’t the only time these chemicals have been miscolored.
Antidote X also got this treatment, specifically in the episode “Slumbering with the Enemy” where it is a orangish red color.
Even though this episode came before it, it should also be pointed out that Antidote X is also depicted as black in the PPG movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s been widely accepted that the Antidote X used on the girls in the sleepover episode was merely temporary, explaining why the girls get their powers back after this episode.
In comparison, the Antidote X used in the movie permanently removes Mojo’s second-dosed state of Chemical X, bringing him back down to his first-dosed stage. Imma assume this Antidote X works as a permanent fix, just for only ONE stage of Chemical X-posure instead of all of em.
With this in mind, imma make my final crackheaded conclusion.
Chemical & Antidote X in their most potent & “complete” states are shown to both be a pure black color, permanently giving or removing one mutation stage from anyone doused with it.
However, the chemicals in their incomplete states are shown to be aquamarine & orangish red, indicating that these effects will ONLY be temporary & are NOT meant to be used as a substitute for their purest forms.
This means that the incomplete Chemical X in “Twisted Sister” only added onto Bunny’s extremely unstable physical state that would eventually result in her literal self destruction at the end of the episode, which I think fits nicely into her story without disrupting what made her story so emotional & saddening in the first place.
& I AM NOW ALL OUT OF BRAIN CELLS, but at least I can use this info in my 20 years later AU in one way or another! FUCK YEAH, BABYYYY!!
LORE!!

In my search for backgrounds and materials to study. I found that the background from one of the cels on offer is the exact same to one found previously. (Cel itself was used in the episode “Mane Event”)
The number and writing on the background itself being identical, and I’m not surprised. Of course, These backgrounds were likely numbered like this not only to note where they belong in  sequence, but so they could be reused in other episodes.
One thing I really like about the backgrounds in PPG 1998, is that they are largely lineless and dominated by big, strong shapes. Due to this the girls and all animated characters pop out from those backgrounds. Not only an intentional and smart decision, but a very stylish one that leads the classic Powerpuff Girls to look good more than 20 years later.

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin share a laugh at practice | © Evan Schall
After Wednesday’s practice at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, when even noted workaholic Teddy Blueger had created enough ruts for one day, Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang remained on the ice with a living, breathing shooter tutor.
When the two were done leaving marks on Maxime Lagace’s leg pads, they shared a quiet moment together as they bagged up the remaining biscuits. Crosby took a knee as his longtime friend and teammate slid the stray pucks his way.
Two days later, there was a celebratory moment during practice at PPG Paints Arena when Crosby and Evgeni Malkin embraced. Malkin flashed a huge grin as he enveloped Crosby, a few inches shorter than him, in a Russian bear hug.
Crosby, Malkin and Letang have been through so much together these last 15 years. Three Stanley Cup triumphs and several gut-punching playoff losses. Major injuries and health scares. And for Malkin and Letang, a bunch of dirty diapers.
...The captain sidestepped a question alluding to this potentially being his last Cup pursuit alongside Malkin and Letang. But you just have to flash back to Feb. 20 to see how much those two mean to him.
Prior to Crosby’s 1,000th game, video messages flashed up on the PPG Paints Arena scoreboard. From his parents back in Nova Scotia. Teammates he drank out of the Cup with. And childhood heroes such as Steve Yzerman and Mario Lemieux. But it was the two from “Geno” and “Tanger” that had his eyes welling up.
If this is indeed their final ride together, then why not make it magical?
“We’re excited. And we’ve been fortunate to share a lot of playoff games together, important ones. I think you try to cherish every opportunity. You’ve just got to take advantage of the opportunities when you get them. And we have one. So we’re looking to do something with it.”

Detroit Pistons Trade for Point Guard Derek Harper
Tumblr media
On September 21st, 1999, the Detroit Pistons traded the draft rights of Melvin Levett to the Los Angeles Lakers for guard Derek Harper.
Heading into the 1999 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons did not own any of their original picks. However, they did have a second round pick in the 54th spot of the draft thanks to a transaction that took some time to play out.
In 1988, the Indiana Pacers fired head coach Jack Ramsey after an 0-7 start. Assistant coach Mel Daniels was interim coach for two games before vice president of basketball operations George Irvine took over on an interim basis for 20 games.
The Pacers found a fourth and final coach for the 1988-89 season in Dick Versace. A Detroit Pistons assistant coach at the time, Versace joined the Pacers on a permanent basis. To hire Versace, Indiana sent compensation to the Pistons which turned out to be a second round pick 10 years later.
There was a very simple reason according to Pacers general manager Donnie Walsh (via Indy Star):
“When I did it, I didn’t think there would be a second round in 1999.”
The Pistons ended up using the selection in 1999 on Melvin Levett. A 6-foot-3 high-flying guard from the University of Cincinnati, Levett evolved from an afterthought with the Bearcats to a two-time All-Conference USA second team member in his junior and senior years.
After the Los Angeles Lakers traded All-Star point guard Nick Van Exel to the Denver Nuggets, the team was thin at point guard. With just third year guard Derek Fisher and rookie Tyronn Lue at the position, the team looked for a veteran after the 1998 NBA lockout that bled into 1999.
With a truncated season, the team had to act fast and signed veteran point guard Derek Harper to a two-year deal for $2.1 million.
The 1998-99 Los Angeles Lakers were good but had a shaky year. The franchise began the year 6-6 when head coach Del Harris was fired. Assistant coach Bill Bertka coached one game before assistant Kurt Rambis took over for the rest of the season.
Around this time, the team also signed former All-Star and five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman. Rodman was a colorful character and he lasted only 23 games and seven weeks before he was waived due to various infractions such as showing up late and asking for time off.
The Lakers also shook up their roster after 20 games, dealing starters Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell to the Charlotte Hornets for sharp shooter Glen Rice and forward J.R. Reid.
After the 6-6 start, the Lakers ran off 10 consecutive wins. Though the streak helped, the Lakers had an inconsistent year. With the team at 27-19 after 46 games, it won its final four contests to finish 31-19.
The record tied the Lakers for the fourth best record with the Houston Rockets. The Lakers had a 2-1 head-to-head tiebreaker during the regular season, allowing them to take the fourth seed and homecourt advantage in the first round.
A 15-year veteran, Harper initially came off the bench during the 1998-99 season but ended up starting 29 of 30 games. The younger Fisher was moved ahead of Harper late in the year as coach Rambis tried to give the veteran guard rest ahead of the playoffs.
Harper was a steady veteran presence, appearing in 45 games and amassing 6.9 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 4.2 APG and 1.0 SPG in 24.9 MPG.
In the postseason, the Lakers faced the Rockets in the opening round. The series opener was close as both teams traded leads. The game was tied at 92 with 3:48 after a Charles Barkley and-1 score.
Houston took a 97-94 lead with 1:40 left after three free-throws from Sam Mack and Barkley. Lakers guards Fisher and Kobe Bryant converted on four consecutive free-throws as the Lakers took a 98-97 lead with 1:17 left. Hakeem Olajuwon scored on a layup and made a free-throw to give the Rockets a 100-98 edge.
After Shaquille O’Neal split two free-throws with 28 seconds left, the Rockets had the ball with a 100-99 advantage. Houston had the ball but Rockets forward Scottie Pippen had the ball stolen by Fisher. After the Lakers called timeout, Bryant was fouled with five seconds left by a stumbling Mack. He nailed both foul shots, giving the Lakers a 101-100 lead.
On the final possession, Rockets rookie Cuttino Mobley was blocked on a layup as time expired and Los Angeles took the first game.
Los Angeles jumped out to a 31-12 lead after the first quarter in Game Two. The Rockets would never get closer than nine points in a 110-98 Lakers victory. Facing a sweep at home, Houston’s stars Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley teamed up for 67 points, 36 rebounds and nine assists to help Houston win 102-88 in Game Three.
The Lakers took a 17-point lead in the second quarter of Game Four. Houston closed the gap, but Los Angeles took a double digit lead early in the fourth quarter and held on for a 98-88 victory and a 3-1 series win. O’Neal led the way with 37 points and 11 rebounds.
During the first round, Harper averaged 7.0 PPG on 48% shooting, 1.8 RPG and 3.3 APG in 18.0 MPG.
Los Angeles advanced to a second round matchup with the San Antonio Spurs. In the first game, Tim Duncan had 25 points and six blocks, and San Antonio used a 34-17 first half run to take control in an 87-81 win.
San Antonio built a 14-point lead early in Game Two, but the Lakers managed to make a comeback. Bryant nailed a three-pointer with 36 seconds left in Game Two to give the Lakers a 76-75 advantage. Spurs forward Sean Elliott air-balled a three and Bryant was intentionally fouled with 18 seconds remaining.
Bryant missed both foul shots. Duncan hit a turnaround hook with eight seconds left to give the Spurs a one-point lead. Spurs guard Avery Johnson deflected a pass from Bryant to Derek Fisher and Mario Elie stole the ball.
Elliott made two free-throws giving the Spurs a three-point edge. The Lakers had a chance to tie at the buzzer but Bryant missed a desperation three.
The third game in Los Angeles was close throughout. The Lakers held a 91-90 advantage with 1:50 remaining, but the Spurs scored 13 unanswered to win 103-91 and take a 3-0 series lead.
In the fourth game, Duncan had 33 points and 14 rebounds. San Antonio never trailed and led by double figures for most of the game and held on for a 118-107 win and a 4-0 series win.
Harper had a rough second round performance. He appeared in three games and averaged 0.7 PPG on 1-for-6 shooting and 1.0 RPG in 13.4 MPG. Harper was benched in Game Four in favor of rookie point guard Tyronn Lue.
After another playoff setback, the Lakers made the decision to hire championship head coach Phil Jackson.
Jackson had always liked having tall guards in his rotation. The team was interested in signing 6-foot-6 guard Ron Harper who flourished with Jackson as part of the three-peat champion Bulls from 1996-1998 and was more familiar with Jackson’s triangle offense.
That left Derek Harper as the odd man out. With one year left on his contract, the Lakers traded Harper to the Detroit Pistons to free up a roster spot.
Levett requested his release from the Lakers during training camp and it was granted by the club. After not receiving any offers to join an NBA team, Levett joined the Cincinnati Stuff of the International Basketball Association.
The Pistons brought in Harper with the hope that the 37-year old would be a backup to starter Lindsey Hunter.
Harper was dismayed with the surprise of being traded from a contender in the Lakers to a middle of the pack team in Detroit.
He did not want to play with the Pistons and never joined the team for training camp. A few months after the trade, Harper decided to retire and take on a vice president of business relations role with the team that drafted him, the Dallas Mavericks.
Detroit Pistons general manager Rick Sund on his previous relationship with Derek Harper and wanting Harper to play for the Pistons (via Detroit Free Press):
“We had a very good relationship in Dallas. I asked him not to make a decision until he comes here and meets the players and coaches, and then decide. If he makes the decision after that to retire, then I can respect that.”
On what Harper brings:
“He has been in the league for 16 seasons and has played at a high level his entire career. He was brought to LA last season primarily as a backup, and he ended up starting more than half their games. Derek has been honored several times in his career for his defense and can contribute to this team.”
How the Harper trade was not risky (via LA Times):
“Derek said he had mixed emotions about the trade. But he never said he was going to retire. There are no guarantees, but the thing is, we’ve got a no-lose situation, anyway. If he comes, great, we’ve got the player we wanted. If he doesn’t come, all we gave up is a player who probably would not have made our team.”
Pistons head coach Alvin Gentry on adding Harper (via Detroit Free Press):
“Obviously after losing Joe (Dumars), he’s irreplaceable, but to have Derek come aboard will help us. He’s a winner and he has won in a lot of different places. He’s a great three-point shooter, he can defend and he gives us additional leadership in the locker room.
“Now when Lindsey (Hunter) is out of the game we have someone else other than Grant (Hill) to handle the ball. I think he’ll also be a big help to Jerry (Stackhouse) because he can run the team. He might have preferred to stay with the Lakers because they’re close to winning a championship, but he sees us as an up-and-coming team and he understands we can use his leadership.”
Thoughts about Harper showing up to Pistons training camp instead of retiring (via Detroit Free Press):
“I think he’ll end up coming in, I really do. I think (it was) the initial shock of getting traded from a team that you thought definitely had a chance of winning the NBA championship, and I’m sure he’s a little bitter, about getting traded.
“I think once he gets here and looks at our team and looks at the situation and sees that we can be very successful then I think he’ll be here. I’ll sit down with Derek and explain to him where I see him fitting in with our team, and I’m sure Grant [Hill] and those guys would like to sit down and talk to him.”
