- She mostly nods along, trying to keep up with you while you're going a mile a minute, you had obviously had stayed up far too long and drank too much coffee

- She does ask you to repeat several things, but she loves it when your eyes light up when she finally clues in and understands a bit more

- Some things she won't ever understand completely, but she's happy with knowing you're happy with your rambles to her <33

- She sort of understands?

- She knows enough from Percy getting on a tangent or needing assistance with his gadgets that she can understand your half awake-half caffeinated rambles

- She might even take notice of something that might cause your invention to fail and will point it out

- Or she might not, just to see it poof and see how goofy you are lmao

- But all in all she is probably the best to ramble to

- She definitely looks for parts you mentioned you needed or thinks you might want/need while they're adventuring

"Yes, love, while this new trinket of your looks very great, this component here will cause it to misfire. Hmm, maybe I should be an artificer? That would certainly be handy."

Pike

- Kinda like Kiki, she has no idea what you're talking about

- She does, however, take great interest in your inventions

- She even asks you how to make something, like a music box to start with

- She loves learning about your craft and she adores the happy glint in your eyes when she first asked you if you could teach her

- She loves learning, she's a little nerdy even though she seems super stronk on the outside

- She obviously doesn't make the music box right the first couple of times, but she doesn't let it deter her!

- When she does finish it and tests it, she secretly enlists Scanlan's help to make a little music sheet to run through the music box

"Hmmm.. Hey, starlight? Can you help me with this part here? It doesn't want to fit and I'm a little afraid to break it, hehe.."

i wrote this like two months ago when i finished, but im posting it now for my own record lol.

MAJOR SPOILER WARNING FOR CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 1

scrambled critical role thoughts and opinions after finishing c1:

oh boy i cried through vax's goodbye scene in the last episode, but holy shit i fucking sobbed through his appearance in dalen's closet. how the fuck was liam so perfect at playing an altered version of vax that was still him at heart. every interaction was perfect. cannot describe how i felt when he addressed scanlan, how the fuck could he come up with such a perfect ingenious opener, i was in tears immediately.

i would not have believed you if you told me when i started that scanlan and grog would have been my favorites at the end of the campaign. (well maybe a little bc i am a confirmed travis stan but seriously i didn't anticipate the level of depth, comedy, and heart he brought to grog). grog's kevdak speech is a campaign highlight for me-- no, a 2023 highlight.

i obviously found scanlan somewhat annoying but funny if often outdated. i kind of just wrote it off as something i'd ignore but sam really made a comeback like damn, i was very happy and surprised when he apologized to pike.

scanlan leaving discourse is old news but for me personally it reminded me of myself in really dark times and the ways poor mental health can make you kinda self-centered. not mad about how any of it went down or how it was resolved, and i love how his and vex's relationship became a highlight for me after his return.

i honestly loved the super high emotional stakes of VM, felt like someone was always mad at someone else, i'm a sucker for inter-party conflict and intense emotional scenes. these guys have so much angst and i love it.

i really enjoyed the tight pacing and goal-oriented episodes. i tend to get stressed out when there's too many broad choices about what to do next in any sort of media lol. this campaign also rly showed me how much i love watching high-level play.

i don't fuck with percy??????? lmfao i don't hate him or anything, i literally can't put it any way besides idfw that man. 😭 he's an interesting character ofc and i do like his friendship with keyleth

keyleth was my fave for most of the campaign. her growth was so rewarding to watch, she made me laugh so many times, i love seeing her become a leader, just adore her and she's such a comfort character to me. bought myself a simple ring with "I have passed through fire" engraved on the inside to celebrate my didn't-kill-myself-aversary this year bc that letter was exactly what i needed to hear 😭

kiki and vax never interested me thatttt much UNTIL they became eternally star-crossed lovers jfc. that is my catnip. tbh it's interesting to me that VM is held up by some as having superior romance to TMN, but i didn't find any of VM's romance super compelling.

since it's been a couple months since i finished, i can add that vex is who i've thought most about since i finished?? i always liked her, loved the grey hunt, adored her relationship with vax, but didn't know i had strong feelings until after i'd finished watching. funny how that happens.

the mighty nein start out fucked up and end up pretty good, while vox machina start out pretty cool and then get super fucked up 😭 much as i love outcasts finding family, it was really fun to watch all these archetypal fantasy Cool Guys just go through so much emotional damage lmao.

Vax’ildan - he saw the hit meant for him and in a blink you fell right in front of him. He doesn’t hesitate to sink his daggers into the enemy but when he gets to your side, he’s frantic and voice cracking. “Why’d you do that? Why?” You manage to life your head a bit. “People do crazy things….when they’re in love.”

Keyleth - it’s a horrific scream you hear when you fall, but at least your Druid is safe. She rushes over to you, hand clutching onto the pouch that has what she needs to heal. Slipping in and out, you can here her frantic “come on’s” as she heals you. Even if you don’t get the chance, you still want to let her know. Let her know nothing’s her fault. “Kiki…you were my new dream.”

Pike - you know that scene when Wonder Woman sees Steve Trevor die?? Ok now imagine the gnome going full-powered like that when you take a fall for her. She’s able to make a quick rush to you, and when you finally awaken from your injuries being healed, she hears a faint “thanks Pickle”

Vex’ahlia - sinks an arrow into one of the attackers and runs to you. The rest of the group has this. Carrying you off to the side where you’re safe. It’s not fatal but it’s enough to keep you down for a while. You will heal and recover but right now she’s the slightest bit relieved. “Almost lost you there, darling. Can’t lose you again.”

Grog - no beast nor man attacking you can be quick enough to get away from his Rage. Once the battle is done, curling you up in his arms, he runs over to Pike to tend to you.

Scanlan - completely shocked and runs to you. Everyone else is occupied but you’re his first priority. When you’re able to come to, he sighs in relief. “You’re are the craziest person I’ve known, but now…I owe you my life.”

Percy - no. This isn’t happening. This isn’t real. No. No!! He does not relent on wasting away whoever and whatever enemy is surrounding the group. When he gets to your side, you don’t know how this will all turn out. Putting pressure on your wound, your hands also cover his. “At least…I got to see you…one last time.”

Scuttles in late to Kiki and Percy watching documentaries, apologies if any of this has been poked at before:

Okay but each of them trading off who is solemnly like 'its the circle of life' versus being super emotional when a predator makes a kill or harsh conditions claim a life in nature docs. A tradeoff between Keyleth Knowing nature better despite being more emotional and Percy getting hit right in the wiggly trauma feels.

It's also worth pointing out that not all documentaries are actually... yknow, educational. A lot are biased or otherwise include some pretty incorrect info. (Blackfish is an infamous one, or that one dino doc that fuckin. took quotes out of context and pissee off the paleontologist consultants.)

Percy would not handle inaccurate documentaries well. At All. Oh man he'd get prissy and snip about why this is a COMPLETE misrepresentation of the data, until Keyleth finally pauses and he can rant about it. I think Keyleth would be better at hatewatching than Percy, if that makes sense? I can't articulate Why at 1:30am, but I think she'd better be able to have fun with it and consider why they're presenting it this way than 'they're Wrong and how Dare they be'. Unless the potential consequences of the misinformation come to mind, in which case she'd be miffed too.

and oh yeah, they're both old enough to know that's just how things works, but yk some days watching a baby gazelle get separated from its mom and killed does hit a little bit harder for them for there own respective reasons😭

and please I can imagine them doing a documentary hate party for the worst rated ones in their field, and it just two hours of percys angry fact checking, It gets him HEATED, he can't believe they got even the simplest mechanic wrong! how could they! that's his favorite part! I think keyleth can hate watch easier cause she takes comfort in knowing that she Knows things and she Knows when the information is wrong, but she is indeed affected by percys energy, there's more passive aggressive comments when stuff dangerously dumb gets said.

like I think Keyleth got more heated but also found it stupidly dumb, when Discovery Channel released that Megaladon documentary claiming its still alive, and forgot to put a disclaimer at the end saying it was fiction😭 imagine if that came out when she was younger? little Keyleth would have been DEVASTATED when she found out it wasn't true.

keyleth regularly visits Whitestone to spend time with her little nieces and nephews, plus they love having her around, but sometimes vex watchs her play and take care of the kids and just gets sad cause she deserved that life too, Vax deserved that life, ouchie

And then Vex decides that well she's my best friend in the world, guess she's going to help me raise my kids because she'd be a great parent. And whenever she wants a night (or a weekend) with Percy she asks Keyleth to take the kids and she always says yes. Vex also notices that having the kids around her seems to relax Keyleth and get her out of her head. So when she knows Keyleth is having a particularly difficult time she'll just ask Keyleth to come to whitestone because the kids have been begging to see her (it's not always true, but the kids love their aunt Kiki so much they're always happy to see her) and of course Keyleth shows up immediately.

I think that further down the line, Vex encourages Keyleth to adopt or foster some kids because she knows how much Keyleth loves kids.

Here's why I love the Whitestone/Briarwoods Arc from ep24 to e36 -

Uh, Vampires??? 🧛🏻💕

The arc is bookended with one of the twins almost dying both at the start and end of the arc (Vax in e25 "Crimson Diplomacy" & Vex in e34 "Race To The Ziggurat") *

Sylas couldn't charm Vax at first, but could after biting him? 👀👀👀 It's all in the dice, ik- but man, that's some good storytelling

Vax ended up stuck with the Briarwoods twice and flirted with them both times, and while the first time made sense the second time doesn't, as Vax was panicking & acting the first time but was calm and not acting the second time?? Was it to keep up appearances?? They already know, baby boy - Plus he was charmed into thinking they his friends?? I'm just - LIAM WHY

The army of Percys and Cassandras w/ a bear in a Percy costume + Trinket as Percy confusing Delilah momentarily 💕

Just, the sequence of events when Vax teleports out of the refinery box and accidentally starts the acid while trying to open the box and immediately getting charmed by Sylas-

Hey, so was wondering if you write some headcannons about Keyleth and a Warforged Fighter, and have it be kind of like a mother/child relationship. If you need something to go off of, basically she and the rest of Vox Machina found it busted up while traveling, and she helped it using druid magic. I dunno, sounded kinda cool

- It all started when Vox Machina were travelling together to the next town over when Vex had heard sparks, and what sounded like metal grinding against metal.

- They were confused, and decided to send Vex, Percy, and Keyleth to investigate the sounds.

- It didn't take too long before they found a small, humanish shaped clump of metal, sparks flying out of it's side. The metal grinding against metal was it trying to move it's legs which were covered in rust, as well as other parts of its body.

- It was sad.. the poor thing couldn't even see, its eyelids being rusted shut.

- Keyleth accidentally stepped on a twig when trying to get closer to the small, child-like, Warforged startling herself, Vex, Percy, and the aforementioned Warforged.

- It attempted to speak, their voice coming out in squeaks and scrapes, "W-who's t-t-there...?"

- The voice was quiet, but the forest was quiet enough for the small group to hear the poor thing try to speak.

- Keyleth kneeled down Infront of the small automaton with a kind smile on her face, even though they couldn't see it.

- "My name is Keyleth, but you can call me Kiki for short. What's your name?" She asked in a sweet voice.

- The small automaton answered in kind, but with a small scratchy voice. It sounded like its voice box was either damaged or rusted as well, and no one knew why it was rusted, possibly beaten, then just left here to face the elements.

- Keyleth felt bad for it, and looked towards Percy, silently asking if he could help them. Percy was a bit hesitant, but with the help some puppy eyes from Keyleth the white haired artificer relented and offered his help to the small Warforged.

- They were hesitant, skeptical, but accepted the help. The 3 called Grog over so he could carry the automaton to the next closest town.

- During the next few hours of travel, Keyleth started talking to the Warforged about their adventures, telling them many stories, some adventurous, while some are funny and light hearted.

- Scanlan attempted to tell one of his.. "adventures" in the bedroom before Keyleth gave him a dark glare, silently warning him to not even dare in front of the child-like machine.

- He immediately shut up and quickly walked away from Keyleth, slightly afraid to anger her again.

- After some odd hours, they reached the town as the sun started to set in search of an inn to rest. Unfortunately, they didn't get to drink much, if anything at all while Percy did his best to fix the dents, scraps, gashes, and try to remove any rust that was left over, mostly focusing on the eyes so they could see where they were and wouldn't panic too much about any loud noises such as yelling or banging.

- It took a little bit of elbow grease (as well as some help from a passerby who gave some advice) and voila! The small Warforged could see again!

- They were happy, yes, but also a little startled at the sudden light and faces. The first person they took a good look at was Keyleth, almost as if they knew that she was the first person who spoke to them.

- There was adoration, wonder, and a warmth in their robotic eyes you would never expect from a Warforged.

- They didn't say anything to Keyleth, instead allowing Percy to take a look at their voice box (I'm guessing here, correct me if I'm wrong at any point-) so he could fix the scratching sound in their voice when they talk.

- As Percy worked, you would occasionally look at Keyleth, but would quickly look away if she looked at you.

- After about 15-20 minutes, Percy was finally done. He did what he could to make your voice less scratchy, but just enough for you to speak without feeling like you were eating heavily rusted nails.

- Percy had you say a few things to test your voice and see if he needed to make any adjustments, but everything went well! You could speak just fine, and the first thing you said was directed at Keyleth, "You're really nice, and pretty."

- Everyone at the table just looked at you like you grew a second head! Well, everyone but Keyleth.. she was on the verge of happy tears. . . probably because she was in the middle of a drinking contest with Grog when you said that, and she's a pretty emotional drunk.

- She quickly placed down her very large mug of beer and hugged you tightly. She basically adopted you from that moment on, and the small Warforged joined her and Vox Machina in their adventures to come!
