Happy 82nd Birthday Scottish actor Ian McCulloch was born in Glasgow 18th November 1939.
After doing his national service in the army McCulloch studied at Oxford, during this time he started picking up acting roles and was almost kicked out as it was seen to be interfering with his studies, he knuckled down and completed his university degree. McCulloch admits finding it hard to pick up parts early in his career, he took anything he could, and was known to take operatic parts before being recommended to the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Another of those actors that you will know the face from many shows and films but might not recall his name, I remember him from a 70’s series my mum never missed, Survivors, where he played the enigmatic Greg Preston, McCulloch also wrote the final three episodes of the post-apocalyptic drama. Survivors was created by the man behind Dr Who, Terry Nation, so it won’t surprise you that McCulloch also starred in the episode Warriors of the Deep, the Doctor was played by Peter Davison. The episode is  best remembered  by cult television fans because the story featured quite possibly the most unconvincing monster in the history of the series.
He then starred in several notoriously violent Italian made horror films of the early 1980s that were part of the "video nasty" controversy within the UK. McCulloch was the male lead in the Romero inspired Zombie  aka "Zombi 2" directed by Lucio Fulci, he was back battling more living dead in Zombie Holocaust aka "Dr Butcher MD" directed by Marino Girolami, and then McCulloch took on interplanetary invaders in the Alien  rip-off Contamination, directed by Luigi Cozzi. I would think that by standard nowadays they would be pretty tame.
Ian McCulloch’s film credits are impressive playing supporting roles in Where Eagles Dare with the likes of Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood then Cromwell with Richard Harris and Alec Guinness but it was TV that he made a name for himself, Dr. Finlay’s Casebook, Colditz and Secret Army, as well as Survivors during the 70’s and in the 80’s, Diamonds, Bergerac, Childrens Ward and of course Taggart, as well as other Scottish shows, City Lights and The Tales of Para handy, McCulloch was never been short of work, however there has been nothing lately fro him and I assumed that he retired., but he turned up in a podcast of Survivors in 2016, and according to IMDB he is to feature in a film,  The Witches of the Sands, which is due out next year

Here’s why we love Yelena
No, I don’t think Yelena took over Natasha in her own film. Not at all.
Yelena wouldn’t exist without Natasha. Yelena is Natasha’s little sister. Most of Yelena’s actions in the film, are connected to Natasha, in some way. Yelena’s storyline in the film is so intricately connected to Natasha, you can’t really make a comment about Yelena without referencing Natasha.
At the beginning of the film, Yelena got the antidote- and sent it to Natasha.
Yelena proudly shows off the first purchase she made for herself- and she gifts it to Natasha.
Yelena killed Draykov and almost sacrificed herself- for Natasha.
Yelena tries her first superhero pose- to copy/make fun of Natasha.
Yelena eventually gets a dog- and names it after Natasha (’s alias, Fanny Longbottom).
Yelena does take on part of Natasha’s role in this film though.
Natasha has always been our guide through Marvel films. Whenever Natasha is in a film, she’s the one guiding the audience through it’s events. From the sidelines, of course, because Marvel has been sexist for years. We’ve talked about this here. Extensively. What Yelena does for the Black Widow movie, is that she is the relatable character. She guides us through the movie, and we relate to her.
Yelena is us, guys. Yelena is the little girl who grew up looking up to Natasha. Natasha Romanoff, is Yelena’s hero. Yelena is a new generation of women who grew up looking up to Natasha Romanoff, and who love her with all their goddamn hearts.
I mean, Look at Her Posing as Natasha Romanoff
Tumblr media
What Yelena gave us, is a gift.
She gave our love to Natasha on screen! She gave her her favourite vest (with all the pockets). She gave her the shared trauma, that all of us women, face, and she showed her that she’s not alone. That she’s never been alone.
Natasha has the wisdom of the women that came before her (Melina), the love of the mother who never gave up on her (and I so love that they didn’t give a shit about the name of her father by the way. This movie has said Fuck You to Endgame and the Avengers in every possible way). Natasha has that invincible goodness that is herself, the heart that she never loses, and she has us, all the women who look at her, and see a piece of ourselves, our pain, looking back.
Yelena also gifted us with finally saying a proper goodbye to Natasha.
Natasha Romanoff is our hero, and she deserved to walk into the sunset, as she did, and fly off to new adventures, as she did. With a smile on her face, with the love of 2 families in her heart, and with the gratitude of millions of women on her shoulders.
I can never thank the makers of this film, and Scarlett Johansson, enough. Never.

For Valentine's Day, anything with rollerskating or a coffee shop AU for @1electricpirate, please!
Happy Valentine’s, @1electricpirate!
The subway rocked to a stop and the doors hissed open, letting in a rush of air that was no cooler or fresher than what there already was. Clint shouldered past the asshole in the doorway who didn’t seem inclined to let anyone on or off, jogging up the stairs in the hopes that closer to the surface there might be some kind of breeze.
Summer was laying on the city like a blanket, heavy and scratchy and cutting off all the air. Clint had started getting up at five in the morning, as it was the only time Lucky wouldn’t balk at leaving the apartment. The rest of the day was always built up of siestas and miserable wilting, the ancient air conditioner clattering grumpily in the window.
(Clint was working on updating the building, starting with the high risk tenants first. Naturally he was last on the list; he figured he’d be getting himself a new unit sometime after the world boiled to death, but Simone sometimes let him chill on her sofa for a bit if he looked pathetic enough.)
It was maybe the hottest day of the year yet, the kinda day that every sane person spent firmly indoors, so naturally this was the day that Tash wanted to meet him - in a damned coffee shop, no less.
As far as Clint was concerned, coffee shops were for all the seasons that weren’t futzin’ *Summer*. Coffee shops were for sweater weather, comfortable armchairs and curling hands around cardboard. Clint didn’t have any time for iced coffees, and anything with less caffeine than an Americano could frankly take a flying leap, so summer was mostly spent grimly chugging back energy drinks and waiting until the evening was cool enough to justify brewing a pot.
Natasha was an immovable object, though, and Clint was adorable but he wasn’t anything close to an irresistible force. So he was dragging himself across the city, frequently checking the directions on his phone, and silently cursing Natasha’s name with every sweat-soaked step.
Brooklyn was practically part of his territory, the streets familiar under his feet, so it was a surprise that this wasn’t somewhere he’d ever been before, tucked in beside a narrow brick-lined alleyway and down a flight of concrete stairs. Ivy hung down from the black iron railings at street level, cutting off a little of the bustle and noise, and somehow the light well wasn’t swimming in trash from the street above. Someone clearly cared for this place; that or they had scared the neighbourhood into submission.
HYDRATE was etched into the glass, white against dark, but the T and the E were incongruously faded. Clint pushed open the door and let it shut behind him, tipping his head back a little in bliss at the blast of frigid air from the unit just above the door.
It took him a while for his eyes to adjust to the dim light, and once they did he was distracted from looking for Natasha by the sheer weirdness of the place.
Instead of pale beige, the walls were painted black; instead of arty black and white pictures of coffee beans and foam there was the work of local artists on the wall. Not the friendly inoffensive ones, though, with the landscapes and butterflies and differently sized synonyms for nice. These were - they were fascinating, and they were kinda beautiful, but there were an awful lot of skeletons and pretty liberal use of red. Rather than conversational groups of armchairs there were a few booths along the wall - dark red vinyl and metal grating - and several lone wing backed chairs with a standard lamp by each, the tables by them covered with discarded books with more on shelves along the walls. The music was soft and something about it made the hair stand up on the back of Clint’s neck; it reminded him of the classier horror movies he’d seen.
Altogether the place kinda looked like a collaboration between Tim Burton and Guillermo del Toro, and Clint could see why Natasha thought it was kind of hilarious.
He wandered over to the bar that ran along one side of the shop, the surface made of what looked like carefully arranged coffee grinder blades set in a display case and covered with clear resin. The guy who stood behind it was wearing a lopsided smirk, long hair swept to one side and shaved close to his skull on the other; his shirt said I AM THE FUCK in big white letters and Clint could sure as hell believe it. He had his hands tucked into his pockets, but the sleeves of his shirt had been ripped off, and one arm had a full sleeve tattoo, interweaving images and colours that Clint would like to spend at least a week studying.
His other arm was made of metal.
He was possibly the sexiest thing Clint had ever seen.
“Something cold and not coffee, please,” he said, “and the cheat sheet for charming the hell out of you, if you’ve got one.”
“Up up,” the guy said, “down down, left right -”
Clint snorted out a laugh. “No way you’re old enough to remember that shit.”
“I’m older than I look, gramps,” he said. “Old enough to teach you a thing or two.”
“Not sure if chat up line or threat of violence,” Clint said, narrowing his eyes, and the guy cocked his head and looked him up and down, considering.
“Could go either way,” he said. “Gimme some time to decide.”
Clint grinned.
“Well for the record I have been described by several reliable witnesses as ‘somehow charming’ and ‘just about bearable’, so prepare yourself to be wooed.”
“I’ll try to keep hold of my pants,” he said, deadpan, and rolled his eyes when Clint shot fingerguns at him, backing right into a wing backed chair.
“I leave you alone for five minutes,” Natasha said from behind him, and Clint turned his kinda stunned grin on her.
“Hey Tash,” he said, “what d'you think of taking someone rollerskating for a first date?”

Suddenly I have 101 Followers!
100 Follower Celebration!!
Hi everyone! First, I want to say thank you so much! I never thought this blog would get 50 followers let alone 101 since I originally made it to post my original writings like Wolf Captain. But after making some new friends and stumbling on new inspiration I decided to open this blog up to where I post anything I write. (I may also go digging through my other blogs and posting any story related artwork I made.)
Second, I wanted to do something to celebrate reaching 100 followers so I have decided to open up requests! I’m not sure how long they will be open, it will depend on how many I get.
SO, to get us started I’ve put together a list of characters I feel confident enough to write for. I have also made a list of songs that I enjoy for you all to choose from (if you want, you don’t have too), and a short list of prompts as well. You all can send me a character with a song or a prompt or if you have your own ideas that works too! It’s all below the cut, otherwise this would be super long.
 Here we go!
Please Note:  I do withhold the right to say no to a request if I am not comfortable with the theme/subject of the request as there are certain subjects I am not comfortable with writing. Such as rape and child abuse and similar things, especially if the requests asks that the main character commit/participate in those things.

Prompts:
“I have a solution.” “Thank goodness.” “It involves fire.” “Absolutely not.”
“You’re an assassin!?” “We’ve been friends for literally two days. Why are you so shocked?” “I just thought I’d get a normal friend for once.” “What do you mean ‘for once?’“
“Please don’t tell me you’re bringing her.” “She’s harmless!” “She shot you. Twice.” “It was an honest mistake.”
“Right now, I don’t know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge.” “Can I pick?”
“Murder wasn’t on today’s agenda.” “It’s not on anyone’s.” “No, it’s on mine, just not until next Thursday.”
“Hold on, you died.” “Yeah, well it didn’t stick.”
“There’s an unspoken rule where if this many people are trying to kill you, then you should be dead already.” “Yes, well, they all suck at killing.”
“She’s kinda a badass.” “She’s kinda super evil too.”
“I’m trying to have a serious conversation with you!” “And I’m trying to subtly avoid it!”
“This is my life now. I have climbed this hill and now I will die upon it.” “Shut up. We’ve only been hiking for twenty minutes.”
“So... Vandalism?” “This person or thing ripped a hole through the fabric of our dimension and the best you can come up with is vandalism?”
“Is that blood?” “No?” “That’s not a question you’re supposed to answer with another question.”
“Hey, I didn’t kill anyone today!” “What do you want? A gold star?”
“How do we keep getting in these situations?” “Eleven years of friendship and I still don’t know.”
“You’re not as evil as people think you are.” “No. I’m much worse.”
“What’s our exit strategy?” “Our what?” “Oh my god, we’re all going to die.”
“Damn it, why aren’t you obeying the laws of physics?”
“Are you sure I can’t punch him in the face?” “Yes.” “What if I just break his nose a little?”
“You don’t strike me as a professional criminal.” “That’s what makes me so good at it.”
“How’d you do that?” “Maybe if you did a little less talking and a little more watching, you’d figure it out.”
“Why are you covered in mud?”
“You’ll be the death of me.”
“You know, it’s okay to cry.”
“I can’t believe you dragged me into this.”
“Bite me.” “Eat me.” “Kiss my ass.”
“You have to tell me why we are committing a felony before we do it. Not that’s going to stop us, but at least I’ll have all the facts.”
“I vote today be a pajama day.”
“It’s a real shame nobody asked for your opinion.”
“It isn’t up for debate.”
“I don’t know what’s wrong, okay? I’m just... really tired.”
“I’m not leaving until you tell me what’s wrong, and don’t try lying to me.”
“Pirates said fuck the rich and also disabled rights and I think that is very sexy of them.” “They said gay rights too.” “They absolutely did.”
“Someone needs to give them a taste of their own medicine.” “I’ll do it.”
“You couldn’t steal someone’s girl/boyfriend even if you tried.” “Watch me.”
Makeup can cover up a lot, but it can’t cover everything.
I wasn’t born to be soft and quiet. I was born to make the world shatter and shake at my fingertips.
I took most of these off pintrest, so none of them are mine. If you have a different prompt, feel free to ask!
