Brittle stars share in the star-quality of sea stars, but they are quite different.

1) Brittle stars have thin arms that connect to a central disk on their body. Sea stars have thick, more triangular arms that merge at the center. 2) Brittle stars twist and bend their arms to move, where sea stars use a water-based vascular system to propel water and move. 3) Brittle stars internal organs are in their central disk and sea stars vital organs are in their arms. Sea stars and brittle stars are part of the phylum Echinodermata and share in the five-point radial symmetry of echinoderms. Both can be found at Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. La Terapia Dialéctica-Conductual (Dialectical Behavior Therapy, DBT; Linehan, 1993) es un tratamiento basado en la evidencia que fue originalmente desarrollado para adultos con riesgo de suicidio. La DBT se asocia normalmente a una intervención para el trastorno límite de la personalidad (TLP), el cual se caracteriza por una desregulación emocional, conductual, cognitiva, interpersonal y de la identidad que se da principios de la edad adulta y se muestra en diferentes contextos (Linehan, 1993). Aunque históricamente esta terapia se ha relacionado con el TLP, dos factores han dado lugar a su aplicación para otras poblaciones clínicas. El primer factor es que las personas con TLP tienden a cumplir criterios de más de un diagnostico adicional; normalmente cumplen una media de aproximada de cuatro trastornos adicionales (Harned et al., 2008). De esta forma, la DBT se diseñó para tratar diferentes problemas a través de un rango amplio de diagnósticos. Además, la evidencia empírica sobre la eficacia de la DBT ha demostrado que es un tratamiento eficaz, no solo para reducir objetivos de tratamiento graves como el suicidio y las autolesiones, sino también para disminuir dificultades psicológicas asociadas, como la depresión y las experiencias traumáticas (Lieb, Zanarini, Schmahl, Linehan, y Bohus, 2004).
