What I disliked the most about this World Cup final was the crowd. There was no response, no cheers, no enthusiasm.
Team India lacked confidence yesterday right from the beginning, because they knew the pitch wasn't what they would've liked, but still they gave their best, and the least they deserved was and INDIAN crowd cheering for them.
I saw a video this morning of the crowd in Wankhede during the semi-final, poking fun at Surya when he was fielding at the boundary, asking him to bowl. It wasn't much, maybe even distracting him from his job for a moment but it made him smile. It made him realise people were confident enough in the team's abilities to joke during a tense moment in the game.
If you love cricket enough to go watch a match in a stadium, you'll know the confidence Bumrah gets when the crowd chants 'Boom Boom'. And that's what should have been done with each ball.
When you trust Siraj, Kuldeep and Shami's abilities enough, then cheer at each one of their balls. Even if they're lacking in confidence for a moment, let them know that the billion people who back them never doubted them.
The pitch wasn't the best for batting on, and yet Rohit, Virat and Rahul gave their best. It was slow, but they tried, and none of us watching the match could have done that. The crowd should have screamed even when they got a single or defended a tough ball, because they deserve to know how much we appreciate them for the joy they bring us.
Shubman, Shreyas and Jaddu weren't at their best with the bat, but they tried so hard with the fielding. Every time they dived for the ball, every time they stopped a single, they should have been cheered on.
Ishan, Shardul, Hardik, Prasidha and Ashwin didn't even play, but watching the crowd cheer on the team mates despite seeing the conditions would have made them happy, and their smiles would have made the eleven on the field believe in themselves more.
When Cummins had openly declared that he wanted to silence the crowd, then it was the responsibility of every single person in the crowd to fight his challenge. It was their job to stay until the last ball, to instill hope in our boys till the very end. Maybe it could have made our team more confident, and theirs a bit afraid. Maybe things would have been different right now.

He Has Thrown His Captain And Team Under The Bus : Karthik Slams TN Coach For Blaming Skipper For Ranji Trophy SF Loss
Tumblr media
Dinesh Karthik: India wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik slammed Tamil Nadu coach Sulakshan Kulkarni for blaming skipper R Sai Kishore for their eventual loss to Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semifinal. Kulkarni had strongly criticised Kishore's decision of opting to bat first after winning the toss against Mumbai in the second semifinal, saying "we lost the match at 9 o'clock on day one". "We should have bowled but the captain had some different instinct. Ultimately, he is the boss... (From) 106/7, I knew before the match that this (Mumbai’s fightback) may happen," had said Kulkarni after the loss. Karthik, visibly upset by Kulkarni's remarks, expressed his disappointment through a social media post. He defended Kishore as captain and said he was let down by the coach's lack of support. "This is so WRONG. This is so disappointing from the coach... instead of backing the captain who has brought the team to the semis after 7 years and thinking it's a start for good things to happen, the coach has absolutely thrown his captain and team under the bus," said Karthik on X, highlighting the rift within the team. Mumbai entered the final of the Ranji Trophy for a whopping 48th time after beating Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs inside three days in the second semifinal of the 2023/24 season on Monday. TN, after batting first, could only get 146 runs. Despite a valiant effort by Tamil Nadu's bowler R Sai Kishore, who claimed a crucial six-wicket haul, Mumbai fought back strongly. Shardul Thakur's heroic hundred and Tanush Kotian resilient 89 propelled Mumbai to a commanding total of 378 after a shaky start. In response, Tamil Nadu faltered once again with the bat, collapsing for a mere 162 runs in their second innings, handing Mumbai a resounding victory by an innings and 70 runs. Read the full article

Team India captain Rohit Sharma is optimistic about getting 20 wickets
The stand-in skipper of South Africa, Dean Elgar, won the toss and chose to bat first in the second Test at Cape Town.
One of the main reasons for the Indian cricket team to lose the first Test was their poor batting in the Centurion first innings, where they could only get 245 in tough conditions. While the toss played its part there, it remains to be seen if that will be a factor in the India vs. South Africa second Test.
Tumblr media
On Wednesday, captain Rohit Sharma once again lost the toss and was asked to bowl first, on a pitch that looked decent for batting. After the toss, Rohit said, “I would’ve batted first as well. It looks like a good pitch. We understand the challenge of batting first on that pitch, but nevertheless, there will be enough on the pitch for the seamers, so hopefully we’ll cash in on it.
Rohit added that it was important to move on from the first Test defeat and focus on getting 20 wickets. He said, “It is important to forget what’s happened in the past. We understand the importance of getting runs on the board and getting 20 wickets. It didn’t happen in the first game, but we’re upbeat about what we can achieve here. We have made two changes. Ravindra Jadeja comes back for R. Ashwin; Shardul Thakur misses out; Mukesh Kumar replaces him.”
