Tsukiko manages to come up to him and shoves aside his arms so that she can sit down on his lap. Her arms and soft press of her body wraps around his broad chest and that's when it's fairly obvious that there's been a little too much drink in her petite frame. ❝Ne, Shin-chan,❞ she nearly purrs, peering up at him with pleading eyes as her hands slowly crawl up his back. Her nails dig lightly when it drags down his back. And then she whispers, ❝can we sleep together?❞

It's right when he's about to bite into his piece of paradise he'd been waiting on for what felt like ages at this point. ( Really, it has only been a matter of minutes, the man is starving, he's well earned this meal between his sake. ) Before he's even granted the chance, not only is his feast replaced by another pair of hands, they're being shoved to the side and it's the feeling of warm body now against his own which prevents him from snapping as quick as he desired.

It's because he's realized who is now sitting and where she's decided to place herself that any action or thoughts he might have had suddenly go blank. ( Perhaps the amount of drinks might be hitting harder than he anticipated. ) And after her voice soothes against his ear like the sweetest song he's believed he's heard, the question forces him to freeze - despite his arms already wrapping around her in a protective grasp on instinct. A shiver up his spine that goes unnoticed by him.

Her scent draws him in, nose dips into the crook of her neck before he's finally responding. It's laughter. The man is lost to the realm and has already long forgotten the bowl of rice he had been mourning the loss of but a few moments prior.

" If y'tired or something, we can nap later - gotta keep up with Sano and show him I can hold my own! " He can't. He's gone. Gone to the world and to the implications of what those touches and whispers heating his skin actually mean.

So many of you who have followed me for a while may understand the meaning of Makoto to Souji and why it's been used as the name of Sakura's kingdom.

Makoto 誠 means sincerity, and it was the symbol emblazoned on the Shinsengumi banner

I don't do a lot of canon/historical stuff anymore, but I always like to call back as much as I can, with sincerity themes and Souij's favorite color is a very specific light blue

I’m loving like a dragon Ishin a lot but What I need more than anything is a guide that shows who each character is between the mainline games and this one. I’m faceblind as fuck and there’s like 4 characters that I’ve looked at and thought “wait, is that one Kuze???”

Having a resurgence in anime rewatches after nearly six years of watching k-dramas instead (blame bungou stray dogs, they haven't had a full season update since 2016 and until jjk I didn't see anything come out I wanted to watch) has been a trip. It's like being thrown full bodied through the looking glass to have a conversation with my thirteen year old self haha. Seeing as what I consider "old classics" includes Ouran Host Club, Hakuoki, Vampire Knight, Brave 10... maybe it's not such a mystery why we are here today... ^^'

Thoughts about Tsukuyo

She was introduced late as part of the main cast, but I think it was a good decision on Sorachi's end. This is because when he created her, he was already a more experienced writer, he’d been writing his characters for a while and knew what his story needed.

I really like the dualities of Tsukuyo’s character. Her exterior is hard and cold, but inside her lies a very sensitive and protective person. She was a rebel, she fought against an oppressive system from the shadows. This caused enormous loneliness, keeping an emotional distance from the rest, especially from Hinowa.

Jiraia's teachings had a deep impact on her. It went against her kind nature, but she was led to believe that caring for others, loving others made her weak. These characteristics, regarded “feminine” by her master, made her weak.

This is why I consider her arc to be so important and one that resonates with me personally. These ideas, although they’ve been changing, still linger in our society today. And the society of Gintama's world remains particularly sexist.

This is also explored with Kyuubei. But while Kyuubei completely rejects femininity and embraces masculinity, Tsukuyo rejects the idea of femininity (what she was taught it meant at least), but she still feels like a woman. They’re different paths facing the same situation.

It’s over time that Tsukuyo begins to open up to others, learns to lean on others and overcome her traumas, especially in relation to her teacher. Being a caring person and loving is not something feminine or weak, on the contrary, it makes you someone strong. Sorachi completes her arc with these aspects in mind.

Although I consider Tsukuyo to be one of the best developed characters in the series, I was left wanting to see her interact with more characters. Don't get me wrong, her interactions with her family in Yoshiwara, the Yorozuya and the Gintaladies are extremely important, but I wish we’d seen more.

For example, I would’ve loved to see her in a trio with Sacchan and Zenzou (wait not that kind of trio-) as ninjas, more interactions with the Shinsengumi (considering the Hyakka is also a type of police). Speaking of the Hyakka, it would’ve been great to have a recurring character who was the vice-captain of that organization.

There's also the fact that almost all the characters Tsukuyo interacts with regularly are women, with the exception of Seita, Shinpachi, and Gintoki. A boy, a teenager, and a man (whose relationship hasn't caused any controversy amirite), but it would’ve been interesting if she’d more male friends.

That being said, I think Tsukuyo's character development was pretty good. Her character is realistic, multifaceted. More importantly, I believe that she reached her potential, both personally and professionally, with her being not only the leader of her organization, but also the leader of her city.

I have this silly idea in my head that I wanted to share with the Hakuouki fandom.

You know this episode of The Office in which they spend the day hotly debating if Hilary Swank is hot or not (featuring presentations of arguments on both sides)? The same thing but with the captains of the Shinsengumi about Kimigiku after they went out to Shimabara.

Team Kimigiku is hot:

Shinpachi (developping the Jim-like argument that we judge courtisans according to different and unfair standarts, and that if Kimigiku wasn't a courtisan no one would ever say she isn't hot)

Sano (developping the argument that yes Kimigiku is beautiful, extremely so even, but hot is a gut feeling and that he simply does not feel it for her)

They spend hours debating this. Nothing of value is accomplished during the entire afternoon and it only stops because one of them has to leave to lead a patrol.

[NEWS] Sato Ryuji has been Cast in the TV Drama "With You I Bloom: The Shinsengumi Youth Chronicle"

DESCRIPTION

"With You I Bloom: The Shinsengumi Youth Chronicle" (Japanese title: Kimi to Yukite Saku ~ Shinsengumi Seishun Roku~) is a live action adaptation of the manga called "Shinsengumi" by Tezuka Osamu.

It tells the story of Fukakusa Kyujuro a young man who wants revenge for the death of his father, and joins the Shinsengumi in search for this justice.

Sato Ryuji plays a mysterious man who comes to Kyujuro's aid when he meets the enemy who killed his father.

You mainly work with children: you are a very good pediatrician, you love to make them laugh and put them at ease, and you let them tell whatever they want while you take care of their wounds or give them a shot. You remain baffled for a moment by the powerful aura that emanates from him, which for a moment makes you change your mind about your words; then smile gently and laugh, and throw up your hands in apology. “Forgive my rudeness... call it force of habit. Why are you here? I’ve never seen you before…”

After a few minutes, Okita loosens up and his expression relaxes for a moment. “Well… I’m new here. And I think I just got lost. Anyway, who are you?” This is the first of a long series of questions; and the first moments of something that will change your both existence

Whether he is really lost or not, Okita stays a long time in the village where you live, and doesn’t fail to visit you often: he comes in cheerful, whether you are with someone or alone, and immediately starts rummaging through your tools, medicines, books, asking a flood of questions with a bewilderingly sincere curiosity and mirth; stays for a long time or less, and as he has come he goes, running out as fast as the wind, pursued by your sweet gaze

Before long you become deeply attached to him. You love everything about his little figure: the ponytail that wiggles with every step, the adorable scarf, the way his face opens up when he smiles, the grins when he's determined to fight, the joy that he takes wherever he goes. He reminds you of ancient moments of light, a dream lost forever… or not?

This feeling is the same as when you were with your family: it’s not the love you felt for your partner, but it’s the affection and warmth you have for someone with whom you have a very strong bond. It’s like Okita is your little brother. He noticed it; and he doesn’t seem to despise it

Another time he catches a fever but thinks he has a rare disease, so comes to you asking you to end his suffering. Your expression while listening to these words is priceless

When you tell him you are a deity, he asks you why you don’t heal just with the touch of your hands; you answer him that it is not in your capabilities and that you still like to have more direct contact with people. This only makes you more important in his eyes, and worthy of respect

He comes to adore you at least as much as you adore him... but he hates when you have to give him a shot.

In those moments he screams and curses like a damned creature, and doesn’t speak with you for hours. Then he wants to be cuddled and spoiled so he jumps on your lap, his ponytail that slightly tickles your neck and the shadow of an adorable frown on his face. He is so cute!

Sometimes he would try to repay you... goading you with his katana

He helps you put fearful children at ease. He plays with them, carries them on his shoulders, and in the meantime you can proceed with what you have to do. You two are undoubtedly a great duo!

I'm playing through Ishin and every time I think of Okita my brain goes brrrrr at an alarming velocity. It might be a problem, tbh. I love that feral gremlin too much.

Inspired by the Saejima ask, could we have some HCs for Okita teaching his S/O so to defend herself? Would he just teach her the basics, or would he also have her learn some basic sword/dagger techniques just to be extra safe...and maybe it's a little bit of a turn on to see your girlfriend with a sword. (+ some NSFW if you're cool with it)

Unlike Nagakura who thinks it's kind of cool and hot that his S/O wants to learn self defense, Okita has the opposite reaction. He's like "Whaddya mean, protect yourself? That's what I'm for." Not that he wants his partner to be constantly relying on him but he does kind of like to be protective.

Once he sees that you really do want to learn this, he'll volunteer to do it, mostly because in his mind "If ya really wanna learn, then ya may as well learn to do it right. Lemme show ya."

Is it secretly a ploy to make sure no other guy is putting his hands on you while showing you the ropes? Maybe. Totally. He'll never tell!

Okita isn't actually typically that jealous but he does actually think that if you're going to learn, you may as well learn from someone you already know who also happens to be experienced. Plus, an excuse for physical closeness.

You might even get away with doing your training on Shinsengumi grounds, and he'd love to just show you off in front of all the others.

Okita would start you out with the basics, although his teaching style is eccentric to say the least. He wouldn't hestitate to have some of his men step in for him to "show" you how it's done, which he gets a kick out of and they're mildly terrified by.

Speaks very bluntly, saying things like "When your back is against the wall, ya gotta slash 'em with everything ya got!" while grinning wildly. Hijikata thinks he sounds insane, but he keeps his mouth shut and just shakes his head as he passes by during a training session. Todo thinks it's really funny.

Once you have the basics, then Okita starts breaking out what he would refer to as "Soji Special Moves". No one else does these things except for him. He's kind of showing off a little bit at this point.

What surprises HIM is that you're an eager and quick learner. You needed some guidance on the basics but honestly he should've expected that you'd be able to handle it once you knew the bare minimum. After knowing him for so long and being so close to him, it was only natural that these things would seep into your own life.

The other captains think it's pretty cool that you can handle yourself, meanwhile Okita is busy thinking about the fact that he didn't realize he could find someone holding a sword attractive? His brain has stopped working now.

Nagakura notices this the most and will kind of poke him to snap him out of his stupor from watching you practice against a dummy made of straw in the back of HQ by yourself. Nagakura will kind of laugh, saying something like "Whatcha lookin' at? Must be real interesting."
