Snowells Week 2021 Day 6: Bed Sharing AU
It happens like this. There’s a shift. Followed by a sigh. Accompanied with a stretch. A tangle of limbs will move, trying to pull away. Someone’s arms will wrap around a waist, pulling the one leaving back to the comfort of the bed.
“Don’t leave,” one of them will whisper.
“We have work,” the other will lazily argue.
“Just one more minute,” they’ll respond with a small kiss to the cheek. A welcome bribe.
Now one of two things will happen. Either they will stay snuggled for a minute more and then reluctantly get up to go about their day, or the kisses will continue, ending with both of them being late to work. The latter used to be a horrifying prospect before they had gotten together but now they don’t mind it as much. Years of work had led to fewer threats and a chance to relax. So when they take the opportunity to be late every once in a while, Harry makes sure to kiss her everywhere and anywhere he can and Caitlin makes sure to touch him and hold him as close as possible, enjoying the feel of him against her.
It’s a ritual. No matter who starts it, it almost always goes like this. To think this had started by mere happenstance, that a man getting struck by lightning would set up the perfect sequence of events that would lead them to meeting. To working together. To trusting one another. And eventually laying together, side by side, completely and utterly enamored with the other, dreaming sweet dreams that never end even in the daylight.

Prompt(s): Red String of Fate/New Beginnings (Day 5)
Relationships: Caitlin Snow/Harrison “HR” Wells
HR woke up one day in his early teens with the thin red string that never led anywhere - it’s end frayed and floating aimlessly around him. Where others had strings that connected to another person, his never went anywhere. He wrote romance novels to forget his loneliness.
Caitlin was born with the red string. Hers frayed into nothing. Her parents tried to reassure her that there was someone out there for her. She never believed the words because she saw the lies they were telling in their eyes. She married Ronnie because he had no string to begin with. It was easy - until he was gone too. She buried herself in work to forget her loneliness.
When the breach first opened in front of them, their strings began to tug them close to it, searching for something they couldn’t understand. Taking a chance, HR crossed through, following his string as it tugged at his heart. Want and loneliness warring within him as he battled to cross the multiverse. Caitlin stared at the breach as her string reached in searching for it’s other half. She followed the pulsing need of her fate, stepping close to the breach that began to expand as a figure slowly emerged. The red strings met, tying together in a Gordian knot and for the first time in forever, as their eyes met across the red link, HR and Caitlin felt whole.

Note: So this'll be the last thing I post for Snowells Week this year. I do have other fics started for days 4-7 but they're just not working out how I like so I've decided to save them either for next year's event week or for some other time. I wasn't even sure I was going to post this one, but the graphic turned out really well and the muse was cooperating some so I wanted to at least try to finish up a short drabble for it. I still want to get to reading and reviewing other people's stuff yet for the week on my next day off though, they look so good!

Snowells Week 2021: Free Day (Or the one where Snowells gets thrown into Doomworld)
“Ow,” Harry said as he attempted to right himself, feeling a bit disoriented as he tried to grasp his surroundings, “Snow?”
“Here,” she called out, a few feet away from him and already dusting herself off.
“Are you alright?” he asked as he quickly made his way over to her.
“I think so,” she hesitantly began as he checked her for any injuries. She felt a little dizzy but at least they were somewhere recognizable.
“The blast sent us all the way back to Star Labs?”
“It looks like it.”
“That’s... convenient,” she said as she looked around the Cortex, her eyes landing on what looked like a model of the Waverider, “Was that always there?”
Harry shook his head in response. At first glance, it could have been lumped in with something Cisco would make but anytime he worked on models he would go into heavy detail about it to Harry. Harry did his own appraisal of the room, noting some equations on the clear board near them. It wasn’t his handwriting.
“Something’s off,” he said as he refocused on Caitlin who was currently on her phone.
“Nobody is picking up and the alert app keeps giving me errors and... Harry,” her voice quivered, “It’s 2017.”
“What- we got pushed back in time?”
“Not quite,” a distorted voice called out from across the way, vibrations radiating off of him as he walked closer to them ever so slowly, his red eyes zoned in on them. Harry stepped in front of Caitlin, doing his best to shield her and Caitlin grabbed one of his hands. At this, the man tilted his head ever so slightly and stopped his vibrations. Red eyes turned blue and the man righted himself, smoothing out his blonde hair before he spoke.
“Well,” Eobard Thawne began, taking note of their intertwined hands before looking at them directly, “Isn’t this nostalgic.”
Due to unforeseen consequences, Caitlin and Harry get transported into an alternate reality where the Legion of Doom rules the world. On the run from Eobard Thawne and the rest of the Legion, Harry and Caitlin must do whatever they can to get back home before time runs out.

Snowells Week 2021 Day 5: Darkside AU
Breathe, just breathe, Caitlin thought to herself as she tried to calm down. The last 24 hours had been stressful and she had every right to be upset given the circumstances but she knew if she didn’t calm down now then there would be another incident. No need to freeze over her makeshift lab. Again.
After she calmed down she looked at the mess that she had made, a potential cure ruined on accident. The want to cry was overwhelming but she stopped herself because she knew it wouldn’t change anything. She took one last deep breath and got to work on cleaning everything carefully.
Glass was swept and chemicals were meticulously wiped away. She checked the surrounding area once. Then twice. And a third time for good measure. It was in this third sweep that she saw something small under her desk, a few stray dots from the now ruined cure. She cleaned it up quickly and got up to throw away the trash in her hands, only a few inches from the appropriate waste containers when she heard the quick sound of a whoosh and then the continuous sound of vibrations behind her.
“Hello Caitlin,” a voice behind her said, causing her to still. Despite the distortion, she knew who it was. Don’t panic, she thought to herself, as a sudden chill began to spread across the nape of her neck. She didn’t know why he was here but she would be damned if she let him be the reason she lost control. Slowly, she turned to face him, mustering up as much courage as she could before looking at him.
“Thawne,” she responded, grateful that her voice came out even and steady.
As she faced him he slowly shifted away from the distorted version of himself, smiling as she acknowledged his presence. They stood in silence for one long moment, staring each other in the eyes. As the nanoseconds ticked by, Caitlin could feel a wave of emotions starting to swarm her as she looked at him. In fact, she was starting to get pissed off. It had been months since he had left and now he was back, as arrogant as ever. He must have noticed her change in demeanor despite how much she tried to keep her face neutral because he cocked his head ever so slightly and started to outright grim at her. Not wanting to give him any more pleasure in her discomfort she broke eye contact with him, returning to her task of disposing of the trash in her hands.
Surprisingly he let her move away from him but he did follow her, staying far enough away to allow her to maintain her personal space but close enough to see everything she did. She placed her trash in the appropriate containers and then went to a nearby sink to wash her hands. His choice to remain silent during the entirety of this set her on edge but it did allow her a chance to try to calm down, although not as much as she would have liked.
“What are you doing here?” she finally bit out as she turned off the water, glancing at his reflection in the mirror above the sink.
“Oh I was just in the neighborhood, thought I would drop by and see how you were doing,” he stated nonchalantly, a smirk playing on his lips as he stepped slightly closer to her. As she quickly dried her hands she made the executive decision to not look at him, instead, she chose to focus on the ground.
“Well, everything is fine here so no need to stick around,” she said as she made her way towards her workspace but Thawne stepped directly in front of her, blocking her way.
“Are you sure about that?” he asked, a hint of irritation in his voice.
“Yes,” she replied simply, still continuing to ignore his gaze, “Everything is completely fine.”
“That’s not what I’ve heard,” he said as he reached a hand towards her to lift her head up. He let out a huff of annoyance as she still refused to meet his eyes but seemed to relax ever so slightly when he realized she wasn’t going to move away from his touch. As much as she hated him she couldn’t find it in herself to pull away, instead, she leaned into the gentle burn his fingertips left on her skin.
“From what I hear you’ve been feeling a bit... cold.”
Of course. Of course, he knew.
“A little,” she admitted, a prickling sensation beginning to form all over her body, “Nothing I can’t get rid of.”
“And why would you want to do something like that?” he asked softly as he slowly leaned in closer to her. She turned ever so slightly in his grip and shut her eyes.
“Don’t.”
“Don’t what?”
“Don’t pretend to care. We both know you don’t.”
She felt his thumb stroke against her cheek, wetness smearing against her cheek. When had she started crying?
“Who said I didn’t?”
“Nobody needed to,” she began as she finally looked at him, animosity in her eyes, “It was pretty evident when you lied to me.”
As she met his gaze she saw a mix of concern and hurt and finally, her anger started to spill out of her. He didn’t get to be concerned, and he most certainly didn’t get to be hurt after all the damage he caused. She finally pulled away from him, moving as far away as she could.
“Caitlin-”
“Don’t,” she cut him off, “All you’ve ever done was lie and manipulate me into helping you.”
“I-”
“I don’t know why you thought it was a good idea to come here and mess with me-”
“That’s not why I’m-”
“Then why are you here?” she yelled, “What possible reason could you have for coming back after all this time? You got everything you wanted! You got to go home! What else could you possibly want?”
A gust of wind washed over her face and suddenly he was in front of her, holding her hands in his. She tried to pull away but his grip was too strong.
“What are you-”
His hands started to vibrate and suddenly her hands started to feel warm. She had been too upset to notice that she was having another incident. As the frost melted away, tears welled up in her eyes as guilt washed over her. She lost control. Again.
She closed her eyes and tried to relax, to calm herself down like she had so many times before, but she couldn’t stop the wave of emotions and memories she had been pushing down for so long. Thawne’s betrayal and subsequent victory, the team splitting apart, the horrifying reveal of her own powers, and the intense loneliness she had felt ever since everything fell apart.
She had been so immersed in her thoughts and feelings that she hadn’t noticed that she had become enveloped in a sudden warmth. It took her a moment to realize that Thawne had pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her as he vibrated, to give her as much warmth as possible. She heard something that sounded like a low rumble as he held her, most likely something he was saying, but for the life of her, she couldn’t tell what as a wave of exhaustion hit her.
“I’m- I’m so tired,” she whispered, the last of her tears falling down her face, as she clung on to him. Slowly the sound of his vibrations dissipated and she gently untangled herself from him, her mind a sea of confusion.
“I know you don’t trust me,” he began, taking a second to exhale, “I don’t expect you to trust me. But I didn’t come here to hurt you. I wanted to offer my help with your powers. You can be powerful if you wanted. Or you could get rid of them. That choice is up to you. But Caitlin... there’s no reason we can’t both have what we want.”
Ever so gently, he reached out a hand to her. It wasn’t a threat or an intimation tactic, just an open hand, an offer, but it was somehow the scariest thing Caitlin had ever faced in her life. A choice. She hesitated and after what felt like a lifetime, she reached for his hand.
Months after Thawne’s betrayal, Caitlin finds herself developing powers of her own. Upon his return to the past, Thawne offers his help. With no one else to turn to and no luck in developing a cure, Caitlin hesitantly accepts Thawne’s offer. As the two work together, old memories and feelings rise to the surface and the creation of something new begins to form. Something that neither of them will ever want to lose.

Snowells Week 2021 Day 3: Mistaken Couple + Year 3 (Amnesia AU)
“Do you know where-”
“Jitters.”
“-At Jitters?”
“When aren’t they?”
“-Practically joined at the hip.”
“-This enough?”
“-Have her check it later.”
“Can she?”
“-Got hit too.”
“-Until she wakes up.”
“She looks out of it.”
“Caitlin, it’s okay.”
“You and Harry are gonna be fine.”
_______________________________________________________________________
It was bright when she opened her eyes. Very very bright. She closed her eyes quickly and turned sideways, hoping to avoid looking at the light in the room directly. It partially worked when she opened them again but it still made her eyes burn. Maybe if she got up and found the light switch she could dim the lights?
Just as she was about to sit up she heard something shifting next to her.
She turned to her other side and squinted her eyes at a man on a gurney parallel to her. She didn’t know who he was but he looked tired and tense and based on his injuries she couldn’t blame him. He had a few bumps and bruises on his bare chest and gauze on his arm and abdomen. Gauze that he was currently attempting to remove.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
He jumped slightly at her voice and looked straight at her. If her eyes hadn’t been burning she might have laughed outright. He looked like a kid caught with his hands in a cookie jar.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” she said, trying and failing to keep the mirth off her face.
He looked at her for a moment longer before he answered.
“It’s... fine. I guess I should apologize too. I, um, didn’t mean to wake you this is just...” he said as he gestured to the gauze, “Uncomfortable.”
“I can take a look if you want. I’m a doctor,” she added that last part quickly upon seeing his hesitancy. After a moment he silently agreed to allow her to look at his wounds.
She got out of the gurney she was on and started to walk slowly. Her legs felt a bit shaky but at least the lighting in the room seemed less intense than before. She noticed a small table with a chair between their gurneys with medical supplies and went towards it. She pulled the desk and chair closer to the man beside her and got to work, putting on a pair of gloves before she examined him.
She started with his arm and then worked her way to his abdomen, also checking the bruises she saw littered on his chest. Nothing seemed too bad individually, the bruises were relatively small and the only problem with the gauze was that it wasn’t secured properly, but she would definitely see to it that he got some form of pain relief medication. Despite his efforts to hold back his reactions from her, he winced quite a few times as she examined him. She started to readdress the wounds in new gauze but couldn’t help but feel a nagging sensation in the back of her head.
“Your name wouldn’t happen to be Harry, would it?”
“... I go by Harrison but that works too, I guess.”
“Sorry, it’s just- I remember hearing some people talking before I woke up here,” emphasizing that last word as she gestured towards the room they were in, “And they mentioned a ‘Harry’.”
“The ‘here’ you’re referring to is my lab,” he began but upon seeing her confusion he decided to explain further, “This is Star Labs.”
“Never heard of it,” she said with a shake of her head.
“Have you heard of Doctor Harrison Wells?”
“No. He a cousin of yours?” she joked. He let out a small chuckle and for a moment she couldn’t help but think she wouldn’t mind hearing him laugh again.
“It’s pretty rare for someone to not know who I am but I have to admit it is a nice change of pace,” he said before changing the subject, “Is there anything else you remember?”
“Something about us being at a place called Jitters, I think?”
“... Do you mean Jitterbugs? The coffee place with the lounge singers?”
“No clue but... that does sound fun so maybe we did go there.”
“But why?”
“Maybe... we were on a date?”
“...What?”
“Well, I do remember hearing those people mentioning that we go there a lot-”
“What were their exact words?”
“Well... when someone mentioned Jitters or Jitterbugs, they asked ‘When aren’t they there?’ and somebody else said that we are ‘Practically joined at the hip’. I think it’s safe to say that we have spent a lot of time together,” she said as she recalled the strange conversation she overheard.
“Are- Are you sure they were talking about us?”
“They mentioned something about me getting hurt too and they did address me at one point because I was somewhat conscious... they made sure that I knew that you and I were going to be okay.”
“Huh,” he said before he quieted down. She finished up readdressing his wounds but she could tell that the information he had learned was bothering him.
“Are you... okay?”
“I’m... fine. I just- I haven’t been on a date since-” he stopped himself before he continued, lost in thought.
“If it makes you feel better, I haven’t been on a date in a long time either,” she said in an effort to lighten the mood.
“Dates apparently,” he corrected, “But I don’t remember any of them.”
“And neither do I. Maybe whatever happened to us caused some form of amnesia?”
“Maybe. But how much time did we lose?”
“Hard to say but maybe if those people from before come back we can figure it out.”
He nodded his head but he looked distant as if he had a million different worries rising to the surface. She didn’t know what compelled her to do it, after all, he was a stranger to her, but seeing him so worried made her want to comfort him in some way. Ever so slowly she reached for his wrist and gave it a gentle squeeze and he looked at her, not in alarm, but with a sudden calmness that seemed so familiar, she wondered if they had done this before.
“Look I- I don’t know what happened or how much time we lost but I think if we work together we can figure this out,” she said with as much confidence as she could muster.
“What, like- like a team or something?” he asked
“A team,” she said more confidently than before.
He paused at her words and just looked at her, his bright blue eyes searching for something. What that something was she didn’t know but after a moment he nodded his head.
“Okay then,” he began, a smile playing on his lips.
“Oh you guys are finally awake!” a voice startled them away from each other, Caitlin letting go of his wrist and both of them looking towards a man with long black hair and a big smile on his face.
“Sorry it took me so long to come over here but I was helping Barry track down the meta who whammied you guys. And don’t worry, as soon as I find out how their powers work I’ll be able to come up with the perfect... nickname,” he slowed down when he noticed the weird expressions on their faces.
“You guys okay? Do I need to get you guys something?”
Both Caitlin and Harry looked at each other, a raised eyebrow directed at each other, silently asking each other if they knew the man in front of them. After a moment they turned back to the man in question and spoke together.
“Who are you?”
The man took a moment, looking between both of them, before nervously laughing.
“Very funny guys, trying to prank me,” at their confused faces the man seemed to get even more nervous, “It’s me. Cisco. Ramon. Been working with you guys for years?”
“Sorry, but I really don’t know who you are,” Caitlin finally said.
“Me either,” Harry piped up.
Unfortunately for Cisco, this information seemed to change his demeanor entirely, going from nervousness to dread.
“Shit.”
After being attacked at Jitters by a metahuman, Harry and Caitlin wake up with no memories of the last few years. No memories of their friends at Star Labs, the multiverse, time travel, and even the particle accelerator explosion. With their memories missing and their friends struggling to give them answers, it’s up to Harry and Caitlin to figure it out. As they work together they get some things right and some things wrong, like Caitlin mistaking them for a couple based on what they learn. While Harry is hesitant about the idea, even he has to admit that the theory isn’t out of the realm of possibility as things begin to feel so familiar. In fact, it might just be the only thing that makes sense to either of them.
