another fic idea: the timebomb Howl's Moving Castle AU

Ekko's Moving Treehouse!

blatantly inspired by @redrum-alice's FANTASTIC artwork and developed in collaboration with @lullabyes22-blog, because I've been fawning over the art since it was posted and I just knew there had to be a way this could work because it was so cute and the potential just jumped off the page for me

(you've probably seen it but go look at it if you haven't it's so good)

me and Lullabyes have both read the book and seen the movie, so we combined a lot of ideas from both versions, and this is the result so far:

so Silco is the Witch of the Waste lol

Jinx's curse turns her eyes pink (and they stay that way, like Sophie's hair turning white!)

our girl is on a journey of ✨self-discovery✨ and to find her family. Silco does not understand why and just wants her to come home for dinner lol

instead of happening upon Ekko, Jinx goes looking for him because she heard there's a wizard wandering around who helps people

Ekko's castle is a treehouse, and the roots walk!

Jinx: "What a stupid way to treat a tree!" DX (a book line lol)

Jinx keeps arguing with the curse and it weirds Ekko out but she's just arguing with Silco lol

Ekko is a big grump because he gave his heart away to protect it after so much loss 😭

Jinx does not clean his house. she just redecorates. she draws on everything, including the Wall of the Fallen, and Ekko is thisssss close to strangling her at all times but he's promised to help

Jinx: "Ya gotta inject some levity into this narrative!" /casually breaks 4th wall

Silco's henchpeople keep showing up and Ekko fights them off but they're just trying to get Jinx to come back for dinner

Silco: "Discover? What are you discovering? Gold? Dinner's getting cold!"

at some point Jinx will have to cut up Ekko's clothes mwahaha

Ekko has the Slime Meltdown™ because Jinx breaks his hoverboard and he needs to be airborne and free or else there's no point in living

Heimerdinger is Madame Sullivan/Suliman, Ekko's old magic teacher who tells Jinx she's a witch like in the book 🪄

he even has the intro that makes him appear all spooky at first before his furball nature is revealed

maybe instead of giving life to things she animates machines???

they have a cute breakfast scene in Ekko's treehouse where Jinx eats real fruit the first time

Vi leaves a flare lit for Jinx all this time, and Ekko helps her find it

we didn't discuss this, but I think it would be interesting if Vi was Turnip Head, trying to communicate through Jinx throughout the story and maybe pushing her into situations that she doesn't really want (which has to do with how we're imagining the ending; Vander could also be Warwick instead and serve the same purpose???? wait I'm cooking here)

I also want Ajuna to be Michael/Markl lol

the end of the story sees Jinx decide to be true to herself; even though she knows that Silco and Vi both love her, she's gotta do her own thing

despite being super annoying lol she helps Ekko live in the moment and get his heart back, and they fall for each other and it's mushy as hell okay

"She's like very decorative lichen growing on his tree and he can't get rid of her, so by the story's end she's just become part of the natural treescape."

and at the end they keep traveling in the treehouse to see the world and help people and so Jinx can come into her witch powers

probably would be easy to insert all the war themes

Jinx coming into her own and being cute, Ekko learning to love again after this woman just barges into his life, family themes, romance, what more could we want???

GET TO KNOW THE MUN

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? ━━ Well, I suppose my love for the character came first and foremost, but I had some ideas about him that I wanted to explore. I started out writing some fanfiction for him on AO3, but found that I really wanted to interact with other writers in the fandom, and roleplay is the most straightforward way to do that! I'm really enjoying it so far!

is there anything you don’t like to write? ━━ There's a few things I prefer not to roleplay, the first and foremost is Jilco. Sorry you will just never catch me doing anything concerning that. Another thing is Silco getting his way 100% of the time. I like there to be struggle in most aspects of his life and work. He doesn't make it easy on himself with his choices, and it gives me more to do in roleplay.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? ━━ I love writing Silco getting himself injured or in peril. He's delightfully stubborn, which usually ends up with him getting himself into some terrible situations, in canon and otherwise. I also really enjoy writing him being protective over those he cares about, because he expresses those emotions in such a unique way from other people.

how do you come up with headcanons? ━━ Usually I just get inspiration from a scenario I'm writing or a perspective I'm exploring. Silco makes his opinions pretty openly known in the show, which gives me a great base to start from. Another blessing of the great writing team on Arcane. So yeah, most of the time I just search for inspiration. Sometimes I turn to ask memes and quizzes, but other times I just think of it on my own.

do you write in silence or do you play music?  ━━ I have to have music on. I have entire playlists dedicated to characters I play, and Silco is no exception. His playlist mainly comprises of dark techno, industrial, and some alternative pop. It's mainly music that either matches his character or the vibe of The Last Drop under his reign. It just helps me get into his mindset with a touch more immersion.

do you plan your replies or wing them? ━━ I try to plan where I can, but also leave things loose enough that it doesn't feel like it's railroaded. I prefer to have heavy communication with my rp partner, and a general direction of where the thread is going. Goals, themes, tropes, etc etc. That being said, I also don't mind having a bit of improve for shorter form roleplay, where there's a paragraph or less to write at a time.

do you enjoy shipping?  ━━ With Silco? It depends. He's not exactly a very open person with his love since Vander, but it's not impossible. When he does form a bond with someone, it's usually deep and passionate, regardless of its type (platonic, romantic, familial, etc). I've had some interests, but really I wait for my rp partner to bring it up, because the last thing I'd want to do is overstep! Let's just say I'd be happy to explore it with the right people.

do you have a Tumblr best friend? ━━ I have several people on here who I consider close friends and great RP partners! @system-contact has been around my whole life as my closest friend, and I cherish them as someone I can always count on to be a well-versed and engaging rp partner. @bleedinghearth is a friend I've had for a while now, and I love their characters and originality, as well as their wicked humor. @jynxd has been wonderful to write with and get to know over the time I've spent in the Arcane RPC, and I love our little chats in DMs! @shimmerbeasts is a fantastic writing partner with a fun world to play in, and has been so kind and welcoming to me in the RPC, which I really appreciate. @ferinehuntress is a fun person with a wide range of characters, many of which I've had fun reading and writing with, and Panda's happy energy is just contagious.

I saw you talking about how you really feel like you relate to Jinx and I just wanted to ask, how do you see yourself as similar to her? What specifically do you relate to?

So I've put a lot of thought into this Ask and truthfully I think the more salient answer to this is not how we are similar, but how we are different.

 I have been very lucky to have the support system that I have. My father may not be perfect (far fucking from it) but what I will say is that there are a lot of parents who when faced with the kind of mental and physical issues I was having in High School, would have simply washed their hands with me and he didn’t, he stayed and he supported me in every way he knew how, even when I got kicked out of school multiple times, so that is something I very much will never forget.

More importantly though, I have a group of very close friends who have seen me at my worst and never left and never stopped loving me and they really are family to me, like Sophie is basically my sister, I don’t know what I did to get so lucky with her.

So now back to Jinx. I think one very important mistake people usually make in their analyses of her is to fall into the fallacy that Jinx and Powder are two different people. They aren’t, and the show does a great job of making it clear from the beginning that they aren’t. Powder is a very timid and emotionally unstable little girl who has a deep need for love and acceptance and who is not surrounded by very many people who she can rely on. Vander does his best but at no point do we get the sense that he is someone who Powder is particularly close with. Mylo and Claggor get a lot flack from the fandom and it is undeserved but Claggor barely interacts with Powder and Mylo bullies her. The only one she really has is Vi.

It was that one person, that one person who loved her and supported her and believed in her that really allowed Powder to hold it together and then at the age of what 10? She experiences an extreme trauma that leaves her more isolated than before.

And look, personally I think it is clear that Silco loved Jinx and that she loved him too, he was her father, but that doesn’t make him a good father and that doesn’t make him the support she needed. Love is easy, love is essentially something totally out of our control but what we choose to do with that love and how we show it, that takes effort. It takes effort to actually care for someone, and Silco was really not equipped to be a capable parent, especially not a capable parent to a little girl with horrible trauma and mental illness. 

Of course we know from Vi’s perspective that she still loves Jinx but once again, unfortunately that is not enough. Because she doesn’t accept her, she doesn’t understand her and I am not at all criticizing Vi, Vi is like 22, which is very young and has spent ten years in fucking jail, learning to understand and accept your sister becoming someone so different and so deeply violent is a lot lol. But still by the end of episode 9, with Silco dead, Jinx is really more isolated than ever. She truly has no one to lean on, nothing to counteract her grief, I see her bombing of the council as a primal scream of rage and loss and loneliness. I think even if she had known that they were going to grant independence to Zaun she would have done the same thing. What does she care about that now that her father is dead?

See because here is the problem with people looking to fictional characters as representative of themselves exactly because that is impossible. In fiction, the characters serve as themselves but also as a storytelling tool (duh) they have to move the plot, and prop up the theme and serve the metaphor and if that means that the character becomes unrealistic or unfairly flagellated well tough shit, because that is what is necessary to make a good STORY! 

So while Jinx on the one hand is a horribly traumatized and mentally ill young woman, in service of the story, she is also a metaphor for the way that Piltover’s dominance over the Undercity molds its citizens into monsters. Piltover is essentially a parasitic city. Which is strange because the way topsiders see it, it is Zaun that is parasitic. Piltover’s existence is predicated on denying Zaun any form of that progress they insist on upholding, they kill Zaunites constantly, they poison them with their factories and their industries and they essentially keep them enslaved in the mines and in those factories, constantly living in poverty and most of the time also denied access to their academic institutions (It strikes me that Viktor and Sky were massive exceptions). This is why the people of the Undercity go to the lengths they do, entrusting themselves to the Chem barons, to gangs, to drug dealers. To really anything that will give them a lick of that power that they are denied. Piltover is convinced that the people of Zaun are monsters, but if they are, it is because they were forced to be. And all of this is personified by Jinx who is a genius and an artist and clearly a very loving person but who has been so twisted by loss and trauma that she has become something incredibly destructive. 

I was very destructive when I was younger too though more self destructive than anything (which Jinx clearly also is), and when I was a kid I was put in therapy, I was given medication, all those supports that exist in our world for people who struggle. I don’t think Zaun or Pitlover even has mental health support. But even in our world there are plenty of people who are denied proper support and the fact that I am an essentially middle class white woman definitely makes my situation a lot easier. There are so many factors wherein if there was even a slight difference, I really could have ended up as a much more destructive and unstable individual. So really I would say that the only difference between me and Jinx would be our support systems. She is totally alone, I’m lucky enough not to be

Was that [SOPHIE COOKSON]? Oh no no, that was just [VI], a [CANON CHARACTER] from [ARCANE]. They are [TWENTY-FIVE] years old, use [SHE/THEY], and [ARE] aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they can’t stray from this city for long

Born Violet in the Underground City once known as Zaun, they and their younger sister, Powder, were left orphaned during the failed uprising against the Topside, Piltover

They were found and adopted by Vander, and eventually would be joined by two adopted brothers, Mylo and Claggor

The group would come to take on a Robin Hood approach as they joined their various talents to steal from the Topsiders and bring the treasures back down to the Underground

However, one of their outings took a terrible turn when they unknowingly stumbled upon Jayce's Hexgem technology, with an explosion resulting from their attempt to avoid being found

Though ready to turn herself in to avoid further trouble coming to the Underground from Piltover's Enforcers, Vi was locked in a room and Vander took her place claiming to have led the whole thing

From the locked room, Vi witnessed as Silco dispatched the Enforcers and kidnapped Vander. Intent on saving the man she knew as their father, Vi led a rescue mission with Mylo and Claggor, asking Powder to stay behind. During the ensuring altercation, Poswder set off a Monkey bomb that ultimately led to the death of their adopted family

Vi confronts their sister in the heat of the moment, but when attempting to return almost immediately to apologize, they were caught and 'arrested' by an Enforcer named Marcus who had actually been tasked with killing Vi by Silco

Vi would go on to spend six to seven years in Stillwater prison, with Marcus, now Sheriff, bribing the warden at least once to keep her inside

Eventually, she'd be broken out by an Enforcer named Caitlyn Kiramman. They reluctantly begin to work together with the aim to bring down Silco and his entire Shimmer drug organization cartel

Trough it all, Vi made continued efforts to reach out to Powder -now Jinx- but each time something happened to thwart the attempt. In spite of it all, Vi still loves her sister

In D.C. she's recently regained her actual memories, but the ones the city gave her have made it to where they were recruited out of prison to be act as an information for the FBI and have now been allowed to go through the FBI cadet program

AU where Youjo Senki, Izetta the Last Witch, and Spy x Family are sequential parts of the same timeline.

After the defeat of the Empire, computation orbs are banned or restricted, so that's why Germania wants to harness witches who don't need computation orbs, which they eventually do, but after Izetta and Sophie yeet all the magic out of the leylines, not even computational magic works anymore, so, in secret, countries try to force magic back into existence creating stuff like telepaths but nothing as powerful as the Argent Silver or the White Witch.

Basically, I want old lady Tanya and middle aged Finé to do some politicking with the Cold War backdrop and for them to accidentally meet Anya for Shenanigans TM.

wow...it’s really me...agAIN and i have literally nothing together yet, but i’m hyped so hello! i’m sam, 20, she/her, est timezone and i also play ben the sourwolf and the cutie quill wallace so you can message me wherever for plots! anyway, let’s get into it! details about this one who has never done anything wrong ever in his life will be under the cut and you know the deal! i want all the plots!

➰ ( AVAN JOGIA, CISMALE, HE/HIM ) *✧.:°░｡ —- is that VANDER SANGHAVI ?! you know them, right? they are the 25 year old SHADOWHUNTER !! they’re known for being BENEVOLENT & INDIVIDUALISTIC - but i’d be careful if i were you because they’re also QUIXOTIC & RESTIVE. i heard they volunteered to be paired with SOPHIE TURNER.

so first thing’s first: his full first name is actually devander if i remember what i picked correctly lmao but he doesn’t like to be called that and literally no one ever does call him that except for his parents

wHO ARE THE WORST BTW. like, okay, remember in the show when alec and izzy’s parents first showed up and their mom was like that and you were like um, yIKES???? yeah, vander’s mom is like that except 100000000000000000000% worse. his dad is very strict and cold and far from vander’s favorite person buT HIS MOM IS ONE FUCKING PIECE OF WORK OK

which we’ll get into momentarily!

so, vander’s story is that he’s an only child, born in idris to the extremely wealthy, extremely respected and extremely well - known sanghavi family. both of his parents are super high - ranking council members and basically when i think of what they do i think of this scene from sherlock i’m a nerd okAY DRAG ME where mycroft is like “i occupy a small position within the british government” and sherlock scoffs and says “plEASE HE IS THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT” which is basically what i imagine his parents are like with their jobs in the clave aka they pretty much are the clave which i imagine is pretty common knowledge among shadowhunters and probably earns the family name a lot of respect but also hatred because all of their power and influence that goes wrong within the clave and all of their bias and shady business is, for the most part, completely their fault.

anyway, when vander was born his parents were a little older than the typical age at which shadowhunters tend to begin having kids and that’s because they’d been trying for a while before vander finally came along and he was basically their miracle child :')

lived in idris and spent the majority of his life there, specifically on the family estate property. even for a shadowhunter he had an extremely sheltered upbringing ok like because of his parents and their job and their obsession with molding vander into the perfect child and perfect successor for their position on the council which is what they always saw him as first and foremost rather than y’know THEIR SON, he was pretty much never allowed to leave the family property except for major social events. literally he wasn’t allowed to leave, spent all day every day studying and training and his parents kept him so isolated from other children friendships and love is weakness yeah yeah whatever that his only friends growing up were his trainers and tutors and the housekeeping staff

basically if it wasn’t guaranteed to make him a better shadowhunter and train him properly to take over their position within the clave then vander’s parents absolutely forbid it.

he couldn’t even really sneak away bc wtf is there to do in idris???? and anyway, the family estate was monitored by guards at every angle 24/7 because the idea that someone would try to assassinate the whole family was always entirely too plausible

i pretty much think of vander of being raised like a royal child if ygm? like, everyone knows who he is but no one really knows him and he never really got to have friends or anything normal like that and his upbringing in general was extremely strict and isolated and sheltered and privileged.

the first time vander ever left idris was the age of seventeen when he fought tooth and nail to accompany his father on clave business. specifically, his father would be taking temporary control of the institute in india for a months ( which he was chosen for because it was one of many jobs he’d been good at whilst climbing the ranks back in the day ). vander begged and pled and begged to be taken along and while his mother in particular was not happy about it, his father finally agreed!

vander loved that trip so much that he whoops sorta sneaked out of the institute on the night before he and his father were supposed to go home, ran away and hasn’t looked back since

he’s spoken with his parents plenty of times since then though. they’re still furious with him for running away and they take every chance they’re given to remind him of that and ask him to come home and finish his studies buT vander absolutely refuses and is pretty sure that if he ever sees idris or that dumb enormous house ever again it’ll be way too fucking soon

anyway, he’s gotten lots of practical training in his travels. despite his family name and the way people often treat him because of it, vander seriously just works as a typical shadowhunter doing normal old demon killing assignments and stuff.

he’s an expert with twin seraph blades though and there’s a 1000000% chance he could wipe the floor with anyone when it comes to using those things

it was at the dublin institute that things actually got interesting though lmao. there, he met helena havenborn and holy shit he fell in love with her so hard and fast and to this day he absolutely loves her to pieces jsyk

they got together, got engaged and were the most obnoxiously in love pair you could ever possibly come across until that mission gone wrong wherein helena’s parabatai was killed and she got turned into a werecat

vander hasn’t seen her since before she left for that mission

she thinks that he listened to his family and dumped her because she was now a downworlder, he thinks she left him and literally neither of those things are true they are 100000% lies made up by vander’s parents and lbr probably also helena’s mom to keep them apart and to try and get vander to finally come home

spoiler alert: it didn’t work

vander is just so heartbroken and he has been ever since. due to his extremely isolated upbringing, he was never very close with anyone not even his parents and then helena came along and they were everything to each other she was everything to him and then she just left him and vander tries really hard to be understanding like he knows the situation was devastating all around but he can’t help these feelings of bitterness he now has for helena as he sorta feels abandoned by her 

EXCEPT SHE DIDN’T ABANDON HIM AND HE DIDN’T ABANDON HER HIS MOM IS JUST A MEDDLING TRIFLER SOMEONE PLEASE TELL THEM PLEASE

still loves her so so so so much regardless of what he thinks happened

left the dublin institute not long after that and went somewhere else and now he’s just coming to cali probably on assignment due to the theft. he’s here to lend an extra hand and has no idea that helena is here so :) :) :) :)

vander is basically a good beautiful angel who has never done a single thing wrong ever in his whole life

no ok i’m moSTLY KIDDING but vander is genuinely a good person. having essentially been forced to spend his entire childhood studying the accords and all other shadowhunter law, he’s extremely aware that shadowhunters and especially the clave are far from perfect and are in fact very flawed and very biased. he’ll point it out to anyone who’ll listen and is definitely into working towards a better and more peaceful future

he’s a rebellious free spirit, believes in standing up for your beliefs and always doing what’s right rather than what’s lawful

so yeah in case you wanted to guess he and his parents can’t stand each other

his biggest flaw is that he can be way too idealistic and often forgets how the real world actually works

he is overall a genuinely good person: friendly, understanding, compassionate, extremely considerate, and capable. however, his idealism, stubbornly rebellious nature and default of being extremely emotional, passionate and intense can often be a hindrance, especially as a shadowhunter. surely they would keep him from being the good and effective leader that he could potentially be otherwise, but having spent basically his entire life observing just how much power can corrupt people he’s not particularly interested in being a leader anyway

vander is an A M A Z I N G artist. specifically drawing and painting. art was pretty much the only “frivolous~” hobby his parents allowed him to participate in as a child aside from the occasional piano lesson and vander always loved it. he’s an extremely talented artist and he’s pretty much always drawing / painting in what little free time he has. i have this hc that his runes are absolutely beautiful like they’re perfect and gorgeous and often admired though vander thinks he’s just sorta okay at art and sees it as just a fun little hobby tbh

and really that’s all it is to him. he’s not interested in dropping everything to become an artist nor has he ever been. he loves art but he loves being a shadowhunter too and for now it’s all he has.

vander knows literally nothing about mundane culture. dude can’t drive, can’t work most electronics, will not understand any pop culture references at all he’ll just stare blankly at you completely confused

also doesn’t understand social cues sometimes. he’s gotten better at it in recent years but he can sorta clueless and awkward sometimes due to experiencing basically no socialization during his entire childhood. vander is genuinely nice and always means well but sometimes he’s just...not great with people but it never deters him at all he learns, corrects himself and gets right back into things. he might occasionally need require further explanations and help understanding things sometimes but he’s a pretty quick learner

he could possibly have a parabatai though we would need to do a lot of plotting and there’s a good chance that vander and this parabatai are not on good terms at the moment. not 100% sure about this but feel free to message me if you’re interested anyway
