Story:

When it came to his family, Whistlekit got the intelligent side of the family. But when it came to strength, he was at a disadvantage.

He wasn’t weak in any way, rather he was quite strong, but both of his parents and his sisters were stronger, and next to them, he might as well be weak in the eyes of all of their Clanmates.

Whistlekit knew that he was better than them, but no one would ever accept it. They would laugh at his attempts at proving himself when he caught beetles, scolded him when he used claws to win a fight against Spikekit, and punished him when he escaped camp during the night to prove that he could survive alone in the dark. That owl hardly caught him! He could have hid away easily even if his father didn’t chase it off.

As an apprentice, he received some useful advice from his mentor--to focus on strengthening the skills he did have rather than on the ones he will never truly gain.

Hootspeckle only meant for him to use his intelligence in battle to outsmart his enemy, but Whistlepaw was smarter than to limit himself.

Spikepaw liked to throw her weight around. She was a bully, something Finchpaw could agree on. What better way to rid himself of his sisters than to have them take care of each other for him?

But in spite of their spats, Spikepaw and Finchpaw were still close. But Whistlepaw could work with that. He was smart, smarter than any of them.

He spent as much time with Finchpaw and Spikepaw as he could, which never roused suspicion, being their brother. With Finchpaw, he fueled resentment towards Spikepaw. He pointed out how Spikepaw thought that she was better than everyone, how she only ever wanted to hunt with them because she knew their lesser skills would make her look better.

With Spikepaw, he made comments about how he bet their parents didn’t care about either of them, Finchpaw being their favourite and Whistlepaw and Spikepaw nothing but extras. Jealous that Finchpaw recieved their older brother, Conehawk, as a mentor, Spikepaw was quick to agree.

Arguments between the two sisters became more frequent and far more intense, more than once coming close to physical blows.

The sisters complained to their brother about each other, who’s pleasure bubbled beneath the surface of his mask of concurrence.

Bitterness began to overflow in warriorhood. Finchpaw received the name Finchcry, which also happened to be the suffix of their grandfather. Whistletooth sneered alongside Spikerose, never letting on than he was the one to suggest the name.

Right after this clear display of favourtism, the sisters had to sit silent vigil. Unfortunately, tensions were too high, and not only did they make noise as they insulted one another, but they actually, finally fought. Whistletooth pretended to get them to stop, his efforts only becoming more obvious when the yowling woke the camp.

Finchcry and Spikerose weren’t only punished, they were stripped from the warrior names they had just earned!

Whistletooth couldn’t have possibly planned for a better outcome. Not only did he look incredibly better than the two foolish, hot-tempered she-cats, but they ruined each other’s chances of being warriors--at least temporarily.

From there, it quickly got to the point where the sisters had to be separated for everything. They couldn’t hunt together, nor patrol or even eat. Their parents were distraught, but any attempts to fix what had gone wrong only ended with more fighting.

Whistletooth might as well be the most model Clanmate as far as everyone knew, speaking to both his sisters, now warriors once again, ‘trying to sympathise,’ finishing duties that they couldn’t whenever they stormed away from each other.

But he had to keep going. If he stopped, and Finchcry and Spikerose’s relationship mended without him their to spin lies, he could lose all of the praise. Worse, they may realize what he was doing and turn instead on him.

So Whistletooth kept going. He no longer had to build resentment. It was already very much there now. In place of that, he began to suggest some....actions.

First, he said how she should knock her sister around, and that maybe then the other would realize that she--she being whichever one he was talking to--was the better. His ideas slowly became more violent, until finally he made a comment that maybe if she made her sister fear for her life, then they would stop trying to rile her up, too rightfully afraid.

It happened while he was sleeping. He was woken in the middle of the night to Spikerose standing over him, eyes wide in horror and her mouth dripping with blood.

She whispered so that no one else could hear her, saying how she needed his help, that she didn’t mean to kill her.

Whistletooth promised to help her, getting her to relax. He shifted to lick her head, moving so that he was closer to the entrance. Then he let out a yowl.

Whistletooth wasted no time in telling them everything. Well, sort of everything. He told them how Spikerose had just confessed to killing Finchcry, and that she thought that he would help her hide the evidence of their own sister’s death! As if he would ever help a murderer!

After a patrol was sent out to find Finchcry’s body, confirming the worse, Spikerose was exiled. Spikerose continued to plead with her brother, the one that was always there for her. In response, he sneered, spitting that she makes him sick.

In the moons afterward, Whistletooth gained more praise and a lot more sympathy. His Clanmates said how hard it must have been for him to chase his sister away after just losing another, risking his loss for the betterment of the Clan.

He really was better than all of them.

But as smart as he was, he failed to consider that someone who killed their own littermate could be willing to kill another, and Spikerose had not forgiven him for exposing her in front of all of their Clanmates and causing her exile. She had already been kicked out by all her friends and family, had murdered her sister and was disowned by her brother. Her ears were even blackened. There was nothing left for her to lose.

So when she spotted him patrolling near the border, she jumped.

after soooo long, beaverstar passed away.. aspenacorn got his leader name and cindersplash is the new deputy!

riverbee’s kits got their warrior names!

CrystalClan part 5

war was beginning. Do people know that meme anymore?

It’s a dramatic time. Relations with ShineClan continue to spiral. Being Thornwater is suffering. Love does not thrive, but some times it does. The medicine cats don’t stop finding random babies.

7th Greenleaf

Sweet Marmalade was found dead near the border of ShineClan. It was certainly due to old age. She and Star are certainly happily chatting and gossiping up in StarClan.

Quitepaw has been sneaking out of camp, but one night is cornered by a large dog. He’d surely have died, but Shineclaw happens to be on a night walk and jumps in to save him, and is injured in the process. He’s deeply grateful and feels extremely indebted to her.

Glowberry and Jadeleaf are welcomed as full warriors of the clan. Wisteriapaw feels a little left out, and kinda blames Warblerfall for being such a stick in the mud. Glowberry is honored for her observance. In most situations she does prefer to take the back seet and observe. She has those she’s close to, Cricketspeck, and her contemporaries, but she isn’t the most social of creatures. Jadeleaf had really matured and settled into herself after coming out. Spotstripe was especially happy to see the young cat thrive. She picks up a nice maple leaf to wear on her pelt. It reminds her of her good friend’s eyes.

ShineClan claims some of CrystalClan’s territory for their own. Rumors spread that maybe they did have something to do with Sweet Marmalade’s death, or that it was a sign. And that Shineclaw being injured was also some kind of sign...Stan tries to negotiate, but fails.

A healer who was once part of a dangerous group of rouges joins the clan in excange for protection. Her name is Tamale, she’s a fantastic healer but doesn’t believe in StarClan.

Web finds some kits and a dying queen. She names them Newtkit and Tawnykit with her last breath, but gives no other information.

Wisteriafeather is welcomed as a full warrior. She and Warblerfall my have butted heads at times, but she learned a lot from him.

After an exciting hunt near the twoleg place, and seemingly caught up in the excitement of being young warriors together, Glowberry and Jadeleaf become mates.

While on a patrol led by Rosypelt, Pansypetal kills a rabbit over the contested border with ShineClan, intentionally leaving evidence.

On a hunting patrol with Forrestpool and October, Berrylight is captured in a twoleg trap and lost. Hazelholly and Chasingcloud attempt a joint rescue/vengeance mission. But are stopped and taunted by a ShineClan patrol. Neither of them in a great mood, they decide to escalate and relations with ShineClan continue to worsen.

7th Leaf-Fall

Rosypelt and Thornwater’s second litter is apprenticed:

Lightpaw likes to act cool and collected, but it’s clear she’s putting on a bit of a front. Firflutter is not one for fronts or decorum.

Spikepaw tries to emulate his sister, but has an even harder time doing so. He’s very happy to be apprenticed to someone as wise as Egretwing.

Duskpaw has no need to look cool, all she wants is to help her clanmates as much as possible and is happy Marbletail can help her to learn.

Firflutter and Egretwing are happy to have a chance to be mentors again together, as they had been Applepounce and Riverstone’s mentors... They hope this time their apprentices will have happier endings.

Mottledkestral retires.

A loner named Orange joins the clan. They aren’t specific about it, but they had previously lived with a group of wandering cats. Something terrible happened, and they’ve had to find a new home. And were led to CrystalClan by following dream trails. He has an odd nature and sometimes says very alarming things in a calm manner. But his abilities and skill at healing are something special.

All Thornwater really wants to do is go on a quest to look for Berrylight, but with Sharpstar sick with whitecough, and tensions high with ShineClan there isn’t much he can do.

A former kittypet named Troublemaker joins the clan.

Goosetooth, Goldcreek, and Orange find a litter of kits and a dead queen. They take the kits back to camp, they are old enough to talk and are named Sunkit, Leopardkit and Stemkit.

Chasingcloud keeps helping Hazelholly on his quest, and is captured by twolegs. Hazelholly manages to help her get free, but its a very intense experience for both of them.

Stonewhisker hunts over the ShineClan boundary.

Quietpaw is given the very fitting name, Quitefoot. He’s always inadvertently sneaking up on other cats. He’s a great hunter, though still not a good conversationalist. He’s ride or die for Shineclaw, who’s only just healed from her injuries she sustained fighting the dog.

Gustclaw hunts over the ShineClan boundary.

7th Leafbare

Firflutter is bitten by a snake a dies. :< Her dear sisters Vineshell and Egretwing mourn her deeply... Lightpaw is apprenticed to Vineshell.

Sharpstar recovers from whitecough, but Thornwater can no longer stand it. He confesses his wish to Sharpstar. At first she’s extremely upset. She doesn’t understand why he would turn his back on such a wonderful oportunity. He’s been a fabulous deputy, and is loved by so many in the clan. She’s been able to lead because she’s known that when she joins StarClan a brave, talented, and noble cat will be there to support the clan. Thornwater points out that there are many brave, talented, and noble cats in the clan. And states firmly he believes he will better serve the clan as a normal warrior. Sharpstar is heasitant to ask, and asks if it has anything to do with his wish to search for Berrylight. He admits it does, but that he’s long felt this way. She sighs and admits that she’s often wondered if she had done the right thing. Pulling him away from FloodClan and then making him deputy when he was so young. He’s been happy as the deputy, but the idea of being a leader fills him with dread. Sharpstar asks him to think on it just a little longer. She knows he’d be a great leader, and he has her full support, what ever he ultimately decides. But in his heart Thornwater knows that means the choice was made for him.

Lightpaw, Spikepaw, and Duskpaw are joined by a big gang of younger apprentices. They all kinda miss having the den to themselves.

Tawnypaw, a bit of a weirdo, who’s more interested in rocks than prey, is apprenticed to Stonewhisker. She likes his name.

Tawnypaw’s sister Newtpaw is apprenticed to Cricketspeck, who has a fitting amount of experience helping shy cats come into their own.

Sunpaw is apprenticed to Troublemaker, and is excited to keep up her friendship with Tawnypaw.

Leopardpaw will say anything to anyone, which could be trouble for her mentor Stoatplume...

Stempaw has high ambitions, and kind hoped for a more impressive warrior to be his mentor than Plumflake...

Cricketspeck kept everyone safe from snakes. Thank you Cricketspeck.

With the medicine den as crowded as it is, and him always being a little uncertain about his place there, Spottedmint decides to try being a warrior... He goes on a celebritory hunt with Shineclaw, Ridgetalon and Racoonsnout. It’s a success despite the snow an Spottedmint feels quite happy.

Lightpaw leads a “patrol” with Sunpaw and Stempaw. They are caught hunting, or rather, failing to hunt. Over the ShineClan border. The ShineClan cats that see them pretty much just laugh at the pathetic attempt. Things are slightly smoothed over however, when a later CrystalClan patrol catches some ShineClan apprentices on their own territory, and choose to deescalate for once.

Suntree was killed by a snake... oofff. Right after he decided to start living for himself a bit, Spottedmint’s parental figure dies. Many in the clan are deeply saddened, but her fellow medicine cats, Snowmane, Goldcreek, and Spottedmint feel lost without her. Racoonsnout as well, with his gentle nature, had been very close with Suntree. At least Suntree can finally be with Bleakrain, a cat she’d never stopped having feelings for, despite him being a spirit and all.

so like i said oots is particularly terrible at tracking apprentices. literally every apprentice listed in the allegiances of tfa earns their warrior name by the forgotten warrior (except boulderfur) but the erins only cycle in four new apprentices total across the non-thunderclan clans and none of them are ever listed in the allegiances

because of the timeline of oots, (assuming that these apprentices are all six moons old in the book they first appear in) none of them would have been born by the start of tfa

but! if you wanted to know when cats would approximately be born during oots, i charted that (thunderclan not included bc we know when everyone is born in thunderclan)

The Curse Of VenomClan - ClanGen - Moons 19 - 23

VenomClan, also known as The Cursed Clan, was founded by snakes and traitors, the darkness having seeped deep into their founding. However, many moons have passed and the Clan is not as it once was.

Hate no longer pours from them.

Despite this, VenomClan is cursed, thanks to their distant ancestors.

Every fifth kit dies before they are a moon old [aka I /kill them] and after a horrid winter that struck their numbers down, VenomClan is in need of new cats to the point that the survivors came together and agreed that they must allow new cats into their Clan.

Though The Curse was recently satisfied, it stirs as new life continues to grow. That night Bluestar finds his dreams are plagued with nightmares in which he looses Sycamorepaw, Berrypaw, Mantispaw, and Flailkit the same way he and Warblerblaze lost their daughter, Plumkit.

When he awakens, he finds that his family is still with him. He worries who the next cat taken by The Curse will be.. And part of him wonders if Tickstar shared in these fears.

Story:

There had always been something a little strange about Danglingmoss. His parents found that as a kit, Danglingkit never seemed to feel guilty, even when he badly hurt his sister, sending her to the medicine den for a quarter moon.

For that, his apprenticeship was delayed. He could have started training on time on the condition he apologize. Danglingkit refused, claiming strongly that he told Mosskit what would happen if she kept taking his rock, and it wasn’t his fault that she didn’t believe him.

When he finally did become an apprentice, Danglingpaw quickly grew a fascination with prey. It wasn’t so much the pouncing, ambush, or killing aspect, but the moment of watching the animal a moment before it was killed. It was knowing that the creature was contented, completely oblivious to the fact that in a few short heartbeats, it would be dead. For this reason, of course, he preferred land prey over fish. It just wasn’t the same.

Mosspaw and Danglingpaw were still having a troubled relationship, so their father decided to take them out on a hunt together in the hopes that they would bond. When their father momentarily separated, Danglingpaw was crouching to pounce on a water vole.

That was when something else caught his eye, and he noticed Mosspaw, distracted as the vole, getting ready to pounce on her own unseen food. In the moment, Danglingpaw decided to jump her instead. She struggled, but he was much stronger, and was quickly able to snap her neck as he was taught to do with prey.

Their father returned, horrified. Quickly, he ordered Danglingpaw to wash up in the river while he took his sister back to camp. It was his idea to make up the story that Mosspaw had slipped on a wet rock. Danglingpaw’s scent on her wouldn’t rise any questions, they had left the camp together.

He thought of that moment, over and over again. Not the killing, but before the pounce, or even of the days when he saw her beforehand. Thinking of all the times she had been alive, further, lively, happy, excited for her long life ahead, with no idea that she would die soon sent a quivering thrill all along his spine.

He decided to target Spikepaw next. The pair were good friends, which meant Danglingpaw would have plenty of moments to watch him. Oh, it was so great! When Spikepaw smiled, Danglingpaw could see the twinkle in his eyes. When they wrestled, he could feel the very living and strong movements of his body--which would one day have to fight Danglingpaw for real, another thing that amused him. The best was when he was happy, laughing a giddy noise.

So very contented. So very unaware.

It was Spikepaw’s fault, really. He was the one that woke Danglingpaw with the idea of sneaking off to swim in the river. But it was Danglingpaw’s idea to play a game of how long they could hold their breath. When Spikepaw began to rise, Danglingpaw kept him firm beneath the surface, counting as he did, and sighing that he lost once his struggling stopped.

Danglingpaw began to wonder if the emotions that came after death, such as grief, could bring the same thrill, so he requested that when the time came, he be named Danglingmoss, after his sister, so that every time someone spoke with him, they would have to be reminded of her, and he would see their expressions.

Their mother seemed sad but happy that he wanted to honour Mosspaw. His father looked horrified.

He decided that while those expressions certainly did please him, he liked the blissful happiness more. Combining them, he concluded, would be the best option, killing someone just after they shared a happy moment with someone else, leaving the someone else living to wish that they could have had the opportunity to go back to that moment and save them.

In that way, it wasn’t just the cheerful obliviousness of the victim who believed they had many moons left to share many more laughs, but their friends and family that thought the exact same thing.

He knew that it would be foolish to harm so many of his Clanmates, so he took the opportunity at gatherings to watch cats from other Clans as well, though the chances to kill them were much slimmer.

One night, when he was returning to camp, blood still trailing his chin, he was confronted by his father, who asked where he was. The argument escalated, and when his father went limp at the same time a snap sounded, Danglingmoss dropped him and walked away.

He didn’t know that the snap had been that of a twig or that his father used the opportunity to trick him. He was oblivious.
