YAYYYY YAHOO!!!!! now my interpretation isnt going to be the only one i want to note that. i am just one guy and i cannot claim the title of engineer expert. HOWEVER!

i do think that a lot of fanon sands down his sharp edges a lot. i dont think that he would bea good dad or father figure in general? maybe a not-abhorrent masculine figure but not like. dad. i think he is just some dork who was raised in texas, has a complex relationship with god and his family, and has a legacy to uphold. also this guy has such a fucking god complex guys can we play with his god complex more PLEASEEEEE his voicelines make me insane in the head.

i think people really reduce him to the found family nuclear family structure dad. and i think that does an injustice to his character. he makes stupid nerdy jokes and probably comes up with them and iterates on them repeatedly to make them work. hes probably ine of the mercs who knows the most about the reality of the gravel wars. he probably doesnt necessarily need to fight in them, just keep the machinery going. radigan wasnt on the front lines fighting. theres a nonzero chance that hes fighting because he wants to.

maybe theres canon evidence for it but i dont fully understand where the 'engineer cooks for everyone' thing comes from. like im sure he can cook and i know he can do magic on the grill (my heart and soul told me <3) but like. he is not making pancakes for the team he is in his workshop on hour 43 of no sleep drafting the blueprints for a machine that can crunch all the bullet casings into new bullets instantly on the battlefield so his turrets shoot more and he worries less. yknow?

idk again my interpretation is not the only one out there. however i think people really really need to let him be more fucked up. i need him to be a little meaner and a little freakier. this is important not ebcause i care about authentic depictions of characters but because i think its hot and clearly that is the most important thing.

i think!! arisugu met in high school!! that makes most sense to me :> i transferred into his class and got attached to him …. pretty quickly probably. LMAO. i can see suguru being the one who gets assigned to show me around bc satoru Cannot be trusted w new students and shoko is a delinquent in the making…. so sugu is probably the one i meet first :3 and then i subtly imprint on him. like a duckling. a little ari following him around bc he has a soft silky voice. and he gets a bit of a soft spot eventually (me and the bad bitch i pulled by being socially incompetent <33)

WITH THAT BEING SAID…….. i see arisugu as The slowburn ever. neither of us are the love at first sight type, so i think it’d take a year or two for us to actually Fall in Love…. a year of getting to know each other on a deeper and more vulnerable level (ON THAT NOTE. late-night talks under starry skies are extremely arisugu coded)… so the feelings are very deep but. even though they’re mutual i don’t think we’d get together until a couple years have passed 😭😭 sugu would get tired of the ”chase” eventually and confess in our last year of hs maybe…. but i am Not Ready to accept his feelings. or my own. and i tell him that.

and so … he waits :’3 (WILLINGLY MIGHT I ADD i just think he’s the type of guy to say ”i’ll wait for you.” and Mean it yk….) until i eventually make the final push in like. our early twenties maybe…. which would mean about five total years of pining?? ish??? i just see it as a very tender, very very slow romance!! kinda like wading into deep water when you’re afraid of it. but by the time we get together we already know and trust each other so deeply that the change isn’t really too abrupt….. though he insists on taking everything at our own pace anyway. sniffle. i adore him (ALSO needless to say i’m not following canon here 🤨🤨 i firmly believe sugu wouldn’t have defected if he had a baby duckling following him around ok)

anyway. that’s how i picture it!! :3 i have Thoughts abt the overall dynamic but i think suguru is just… so patient. and so devoted. and i’m very loyal and also Very Shy. yepyep.

he tries so hard with them and he’ll make them breakfast in the morning and he cuts out their fruit into little hearts and he tries to do their hair for them before school and hes trying SO HARD with a little concentrated pout. he lets them do little fashion shows for him and he’s always like “oh goodness wow, you’re runway ready sweetheart!” and he does little tea parties with them and all their dolls and he’s sitting in the little chair with his legs crossed and he’s sipping the tea — pinky up — and they’re fake gossiping and giggling WAHHH.

he lets them play with his hair ONCE and he acts like he hates it the ENTIRE time but he literally melts in the mirror at all the butterfly clips and the barrettes and the way they look up at him with the proudest looks, hoping he approves. and they’re like “do you like it daddy?” and he just picks them up and spins them around and they’re squealing and giggling and he’s like “i love it, thank you” and they’re like “do you want us to do it like that for work tomorrow??” and he’s like “ummm… maybe next time:)”

and he’s so patient with them and tries to talk with them like they’re true adults. telling them things about the car and what kind of tools he’s using when he’s fixing the sink — he makes it entertaining for them and they’re ACTUALLY engaged because he’s so over the top. it’s the cutest thing ever when they’re watching him tinker with things around the house with their eyes wide like he’s doing magic. he definitely tries to show them how throw a baseball but they want to play fairies instead and he’s like “hmm. fiiine” and then he’s chasing them around the yard laughing and spinning them in the air OH MY —

they love to imitate him too, they think he’s so cool. he’ll be in the mirror doing his hair and they’ll be standing beside him mimicking him and you just have to laugh because they really are their father’s children to a T. they start to talk like him a little bit and take on his mannerisms and they pull all of his faces. you’ll tell them they have to eat their vegetables and they’ll purse their lips and be like “you’ve gotta be kidding…” and steve just looks all sheepish at you because that is SOOO something he would pull. and he always caves, letting them eat dessert first and sneaking in tv time after bedtime… they have him wrapped around their little fingers it’s so bad.

and they always want him to read them princess bedtime stories before they go to sleep — he pulls out the voices and everything. there’s been a couple times you went up to check on them and you’ve found them all fast asleep in their pink, plush bed, clutching their stuffed animals, with them lying on top of him, their little fists gripping into his shirt WAHHHHHHH

You were so excited to spend Christmas with Yani! Okay, well, Yani didn't know it yet! You had told Yani that you would be spending Christmas with Jun and Aki while in reality you were planning the BEST Christmas with Yani. You had decorated your entire house, baked a cake, had a list of "must watched Christmas movies" set out, and you had bought Yani multiple gifts. Now all that your house is missing, is Yani themselves. It was time to set out.

You knew where Yani lived, it was a wreck to say the least. It looked like it was abandoned before Yani moved in, and if you didn't know Yani lived there you'd STILL think it was abandoned. You're still unsure if Yani paid for that house or if he just lives there, either way, you try to get him out of the house as much as possible.

As you approached Yani's house you heard sobbing and noticed a figured and a cake box on the ground. "Yani!?" You carefully ran up to her and kneeled down.

"D-darling? What are you...?" Yani trailed off, she didn't wanna see you right now, didn't want you to see her like this either.

"I came to get you so we could celebrate Christmas together." You gently put Yani into a sitting position.

"Weren't you celebrating with Jun and...that other girl?" Yani asks as you check her for any injuries.

"No, sorry I told you that. I wanted to surprise you..." Guilt overcame you. "I'll never try anything like that again. I didn't know it would upset you so bad." Yani's tears start up again and her head falls onto your shoulder.

"I was so sad, so scared! I though you were going to leave me! I don't wanna be alone anymore! Please, please, please don't ever leave me Mc, please!" Yani held onto you tightly, hyperventilating, "Please, I need you! Please please please please please please please-"

"I won't leave you, Yani. I'm not going anywhere." You gently combed your fingers through Yani's pink, snow covered hair.

"Thank you! Thank you so much. I love you, Mc...I love you so much it scares me."

"I love you too." With those four words, Yani had calmed down significantly. "C'mon, lets head home." You stood up, helping Yani along the way. Yani safely approached the cake box and picked it up before turning to you with an awkward smile.

"I got us cake? It probably, no, definitely destroyed...but we could probably still enjoy it?" You chuckled and nodded.

"I made us a cake but yeah, we can still eat that one."

"You made a cake? You put THAT much effort into this, into ME?"

"Of course I did, you're worth it." Still being vulnerable and emotional, Yani started tearing up again.

"AN HOUR!? Move move move, get to the fireplace!" You pulled Yani by the scarf to the fireplace and sat her down before removing it and rushing to hang it up. Quickly you got a blanket and wrapped it around her nice and snug. "I'll make you some hot cocoa!"

"Love~ You don't have to do that. I've been feeling warmer ever since I saw you." You shushed Yani, continuing to make the hot cocoa anyways. Once it was done you brought it over to Yani, placing it on the table in front of her.

"Be careful, it's hot. I'll get us some cake really quick."

"I want the one you made~" Yani cheerfully said, the negative feelings from earlier seemingly disappearing. After what felt like FOREVER to Yani, you came back with two forks and slices of cake. "I want cuddles to warm up, get under hehe~" Yani lifted up the blanket and you joined, holding Yani and rubbing her arms to warm her up. Yani sighed in relief, a content and genuine smile appearing on her face. "Maybe Christmas isn't so bad."

I'm one of the very very very lucky ones who hasn't (and hopefully never) experienced some form of sexual assault. At most, I got catcalled while wearing a polka dot dress at the age of 12 while walking to a cafe to meet my friends. This, unfortunately, happened during my birthday.

I just did my due diligence and research on how to write a scene like this and listened to my friends who are survivors. Made sure to truly understand what they went through and write it authentically. It saddens me to know that if you ask ANY woman or girl, they have at least ONE horrible story of being taken advantaged of which causes my violence to bubble deep inside of me.
