Hey!! I really love your sskk/odazai parallels and I really believe these parallels are intentional!! Especially with moments like this “a mafia member who doesn’t kill, huh, you two are fighters just like us” and the whole beast novel!! like beast is FULL of parallels and anyone who don’t see it is just in denial!! Anyway after reading a lot of analysis i thought that maybe it’s not necessary that the parallels have to be between only two characters but maybe it’s between the four them, i always thought that the parallels are between oda/atsushi dazai/akutagawa but maybe it’s actually between them all?? this analysis—
https://linkspooky.tumblr.com/post/623629392218931200/a-mafia-member-who-doesnt-kill
—talks about the parallel between oda and akutagwa and it’s just sooo good I really recommend reading it!!
[Analysis link]
Yeaaaahh I agree with your take wholeheartedly Anon, parallels can be drawn between all the four of them and that's what makes it so interesting to compare them!!! For how I see them, I think they move more or less on a spectrum of this kind, with Dazai switching to Oda's place after Dark Era:
Tumblr media
And thank you so much for the recommendation, that was such a good reading!!!! The Akutagawa / Oda parallels are really so compelling, particularly in the way they previously used to kill to demonstrate their own worth, because that's everything they thought they were good at- and then unlearning that through another person. Makes me wish they had more chances to interact in canon, but hey at least there's Beast (╥﹏╥) On my way to reread Beast brb
Tbh it makes so much more sense for Oda to not judge Dazai for what he did - killing, torturing, abusing children etc. - when you take into account that Oda himself doesn't have rigid good / evil moral principles and actually sees doing good as a choice rather than doing it because that's what is just. And Dazai knows it, and that's why he feels so accepted around Oda ;;;;;; Like he doesn't feel the need to try to act evil, he doesn't feel the need to try to act good, but he can just be and that's why he enjoys Oda's company so much.
One thing I find especially interesting is how Oda never tried to impose his moral principles to Dazai. It was always a “I do it like this, you do it like that”; Oda never held an ounce of bitterness or resentment towards Dazai for killing or mistreating orphans nor he judged him for that, although he acted the opposite. And that's exactly because Oda himself has a very relativistic view of morality; and that's why Dazai is so drawn to him, because he's fascinated as to why someone who shares his own ambiguous view of morality would still choose to do good. Even in his last moments, what Oda offered Dazai felt more like a suggestion rather than a last will; a “maybe you can be a little happier if you try doing this”. He wasn't trying to persuade Dazai to pursue a greater good, but rather suggestibg a solution to the emptiness he feels inside, because he's his friend and he loves him. And that's because Oda deeply understands Dazai - arguably even better than Dazai understands himself -, sees in what they're similar, and knows what would work for Dazai just like it did for himself. In fact the thing about Oda understanding Dazai and Akutagawa understanding Atsushi was so spot on like YES that's exactly what I've been saying!!!! Akutagawa is so deeply concerned in trying to understand Atsushi's actions and motivations he will go out of his way to directly interrogate him about them and I think that's beautiful.
Thank you again for asking, love you!!! 💕💕

A small analysis about the psychological aspects of "The Promised Neverland's." world and how messed up it is
I'm reading TPN light novels and listening to September's Instrumental (sparky deathcap) and it's raining and I'm starting to realize how terrifying yet beautiful living in that world would be. A beautiful life, wonderful friends and a loving mother. You don't know anything about the bad parts of the world. It's you, your friends and your family awaiting the world that will never come. You'll never face the horrors humans outside know and face everyday. Until the very end, you lived a life most would die for -- a happy and rich life full of smiles.
But once you find out the truth, Life isn't just "wake up eat play games and imagine with my friends." it's being consumed by death and knowing yours is lingering right in front of you. You,a mere child, learning the hard way that life isn't perfect as you thought it was. To learn to mask your emotions, to keep secrets, to know deep down that You will never, ever, be able to change this system. You can only run away, or join the system. No matter how much you run from your fate of being eaten, The generations to come will suffer the same fate your older siblings did.
Your only option is to run, or to serve them. To assist the cycle you hated so much, or to leave it all behind.
unless, somehow, your wish comes true, it's a cycle of lies, death, rivalry, and fear.
the idyllic world everyone else knows, if you really had no other choice, makes giving up not seem like the worst option.
You were happy, weren't you?
(for my TPN Mutuals, if you have anything to add please do. Topics like these interest me and Promised Neverland is perfect for this)

182 Days of TPN - Day 77
Chapter 77: “The Foolish Weaklings”
Imagine how wild this whole battle would’ve been if there was a raging fire both sides had to worry about. (setting things ablaze is more of a Grace Field kid kinda thing anyway).
Tumblr media
It’s moments like this that remind me that I really need to go back and read the light novels (if I can ever find them). I know the third focuses on Gillian & Nigel’s first days at GP a little bit.
Tumblr media
Due to my everlasting love for Revy, I am severely weak to any character that is shown to dual wield guns and Gillian is no exception.
Tumblr media
Really don’t have much to say about the gunfight other than the typical saltiness I feel that we won’t see it animated. They fired more bullets in these couple panels than all of that stupid season two.
Tumblr media
Gotta give credit to all the knowledge Lucas picked up throughout his many years stuck at GP. To pick up how the enemy acts and their defenses, he would’ve had to watch them carefully (somehow..from hiding inside the windmill. the resistance most likely acted as his eyes).
Tumblr media
I always praise Emma or Isabella for being great actresses, but the resistance do a pretty fair job too. Sonya mentioned two chapters ago that they all pretended to be weak in order to gather information, so the fact they kept up that act well enough (for several years I imagine) for the poachers to believe it is pretty darn good.
Tumblr media
Mmmhhhm this is such a nice panel. She’s got an immense amount of rage just waiting to let loose. Also, for the longest time I thought she just calmly takes off Luce’s mask here, but then he’s shown wearing it at the start of the next chapter? It would make sense if the short upcoming chase scene was a flashback up til this moment, but those pages don’t have the typical black surrounding the panels, so I dunno. Whatever.
Tumblr media
Favorite panel/moment:
I mean.. of course?? The very moment I fell in love with this chick! The complete shock on Luce’s face is also hilarious.

I still can't get over how much of an absolute UNIT young Leuvis was.
Look at him! Look at how RIPPED he is! Look at his NAKED RIPPED BODY! He didn't need armour in the present day and he DEFINITELY didn't need them in the past! He's literally just got the bare minimum - that's all he needs to literally take out a whole army. Just give this UNIT a spear and a cape and a nice simple mask he's good to go!
Look at how fricked up the perspective is - the earth is curving like he's a giant among ants. Look at how he's standing - he's in the middle of a war-zone but he's standing there just REVELLING in the moment, in complete and total BLISS, an actual demon from hell, almost entirely black against the mountains of white dead bodies.
No wonder the ancestor guy snapped!!

In the novel where Norman is very very sick when he was little, Ray is afraid that Isabella may be forced to send Norman to the QG, right? But Norman wouldn't be killed and eaten then: he's too smart, they would want to keep him alive as long than possible so his brain would be at his best. He would probably be kept asleep until he was healed, and would be send back to the orphenage after that, right? It's just Ray who thinks it means obligatory death? or it 100% means death?
Krone's story in the second light novel touches upon the protocol for when a child is seriously ill:
Tumblr media
So it's difficult but not impossible to send them back to the plants. And with Norman being the first child in Grace Field's recorded history to excel by the metrics they measure from his very first test at age four, it seems highly unlikely they would kill him prematurely even if Peter hadn't taken a special interest in him. They might have sedated him enough so his time at headquarters was like a fever haze where he wouldn't be sure what was real and what was fake, or they might have kept him there until he turned twelve, but killing him early seems foolish with the sunk cost put into him and his potential.
Tumblr media
(TPN Light Novel 1: A Letter from Norman - “The Day Emma Cried”)
Ray's working with limited information, though, and the fear of losing Norman is very real to him, even if it isn't necessarily to imminent death.

TPN Goldy Pond Demon HCs part two !! Also I’ll probably post trans headcanons for the demons soon 👀
<- previous post
Leuvis is a cat person and prefers small, weird animals, while Bayon is a dog person and prefers big ones (his family has two borzois). Leuvis is deathly scared of Bay’s family dogs though, so they settled on a tiny white pomeranian (named Puff) to take care of together. Surprisingly, she gets along with Parvus and Operiu well, despite being the calmer and most peaceful of the three. Luce, Nouma, and Nous favor her over the rest.
Not sure when, but Leuvis gets a black cat (named Tenebra) who looks very…weird, even for demon standards. Everyone’s a bit put off by Tenebra at first, but they soon warm up to him. He’s a really cuddly cat, and gets along with Puff. Can’t say the same for him and the other pets though. They get into lots of (not severe) fights. (If anyone wants an idea of what Tenebra looks like, just search up Jinx cat)
If Leuvis and Bayon are ever late to breakfast (which happens only…sometimes), it’s either they took too long to get out of bed (Leuvis dragging his wife back to the bed for ”just 5 more minutes” of cuddling), or ended up bickering again
Nous and Nouma used to share a room together in the mansion. Keywords used to. They couldn’t stand each other and complained enough that Bayon had to give them different rooms.
Bayon is usually the first to get up in the morning before the rest, quickly followed by Leuvis. By the time the former gets to the kitchen and busies himself with making tea, the Nou twins are up, already racing each other to the dining table. Luce is last to wake up, routinely disturbed by either Tenebra or Operiu if not by a servant knocking on his door.
Food crimes: Luce ate a raw egg before (as a dare. He got salmonella), as well as willingly ate several raw fish (he apparently claimed he liked the taste...and ofc he got sick again). Leuvis has eaten an entire human raw before, some time before The Promise, and was probably urged on by one or two of his older brothers. (It was not a pleasant experience, both the before and aftermath)
On the topic of food, Nous’ favorite meals are generally steaming hot, tender, and juicy. Nouma prefers something sweet but also tangy. Bayon likes light yet filling meals (now that I think about it is that an oxymoron-). Leuvis can eat an ungodly amount of sweets/desserts for someone his age without getting sick (Bayon wishes he could do the same). Luce can be seen eating multitudes of cake anytime of the day. No one knows where he’s getting them from, but the cakes get more and more fancier each time.
