Anti caryl (?) post so just a heads up I guess. 🤦🏼♀️
"Everyone that looks at Daryl and Carol sees them as a romantic thing, they just have that vibe to them, most people don't look at them and think friends, everyone always assumes there will be more between them or they end up wanting more"

i once had an anti tell me to stop sexualizing their trauma on a story i wrote that was a word for word retelling of my own actual trauma but with names changed and its been 2 years and i still cant stop thinking about that
Ah, yeah... Unfortunately a non-insignificant number of antishippers seem to genuinely believe they own the concept of trauma, so any story they read that they believe to be portrayed in a romanticized or sexualized light therefore must be romanticizing/sexualizing their trauma specifically.
I couldn't tell you the amount of times I've gotten the "stop sexualizing my trauma!!!!!!" or adjacent comments from antishippers that universally garner a response that basically boils down to
Like, bitch! I'm talking about my trauma! I literally did not even know you existed until you fucking commented!

By virtue of pettiness, no one can ship any ship in pjo unless they became a couple (in canon) after both of them turned 18. Because if one of them turned 18 and the other is still 17, doesn't that make it... illegal? 👀

The thing is, we need to be aware of the intended function of things, re: art. Some genre conventions exist solely to express or exaggerate an idea or feeling. Some ways of writing or performing exist primarily for emotional catharsis. Dark or absurdist humor is a way to deal with serious topics without having to put yourself directly in the middle of them. The songs in musicals are meant to be a communication of ideas that are too complicated and emotionally intense to remain contained in spoken word. Things like twelve-tone music/experimental opera are meant to reconceptualize how we think about the structure of Classical music and the aesthetic things we've come to expect from it. Gritty or serious deconstructions are usually meant to make us re-examine literary conventions, either as a thought exercise or to make some sort of statement about the world. It's okay if something doesn't work for you, but JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, you all have got to stop acting like something not working for you makes it inherently meaningless or artistically bankrupt or "immature" or "stupid" or "needlessly edgy" or whatever the fuck else people keep trying to claim.

need to log off early because social media is making me irritable but like i will just never get the memes anymore that are so popular about how much writing is Not Fun and Daydreaming And Everything That Isnt Writing Is! like i get writing is hard and we should talk about that but it should be fun?? i get a joke here and there but if you actually don't look forward to writing then you need to actually confront and unpack that?? like the first post on my fyp was a joke about how Not Writing sparks joy but actually writing for a bit does not spark joy and idk i just find it weird how these jokes are like. one of the most popular types of content on WRITEBLR

1. How do I like a character whose entire life revolves around trying to save her brother no matter what she has to do because she loves him that much more than a character whose only personality is being really antagonistic and aggressively misogynisticly obsessed with a woman who at one point moved to a different part of the country partially to get away from him? Gee idk
2. I would like Akiyama more, like maybe Kazama and Sagawa tier If the games were more interested in pointing out that he's a horrible person. And he is. And maybe I'd like that he was a bad person more if I wasn't always being told he's a good person. It also just irks me that he's treated like he has real problems. Especially next to fucking Saejima and even Kiryu when he kinda just does a lot of this shit to himself and its easily fixable. He feels like a self insert anime protagonist in a way that annoys me. Sorry he's just not ad good a character as someone like Haruka or Daigo
3. It's my list

GOSH. goooooooosh. watching an ep of ozark and i take it back. bj would trust ruth. and he would love her oh.
oh is it weird i see a lot of them in each other. she's much more ready to use her teeth but bj admires it. doesn't really... agree with what she does, a lot of the time, but he gets it.
the leniency he gives for people just trying to survive, man. bj would get it, and he would not hold it against her or think any less of her for it. even if he's at a point where he's trying to keep his nose clean, he'd look the other way for her. might even help her, a little, as long as it was something he believed would be a one-off and wouldn't keep him in trouble.
