My controversial pokemon opinion is regional varients should have stayed in alola bc the pokemon company doesn't understand the point of them anymore.

What was once a cool reference to how real world animals can change wildly from their mainland counterparts to survive on an island is now just "let's take old pokemon and make them more british/spanish/etc" and I really hate it. Not all of them are bad, mind, but a lot of them have no justification for why the pokemon is different in this region and this region only.

Controversial indeed.

But im confused, Are you referring to annihilape, wooper, and tauros? None of those are "more spanish" i dont really get what you mean there. Galarian weezing is the only variant that really becomes "more British" imo but that seems completely justified since its a play on like the Industrial Revolution.

Also i personally love regional variants and I think the usage of convergent evolution is really neat and funny. It allows the pokemon company to continue adding new designs and concepts without having to build entirely new things cuz lets be real we have over 1000 we dont NEED tons of new pokemon rn. And theres So Many good pokemon that could get revisited in new interesting ways.

I hope we get a regional variant of meowth thats like, a calico at some point thatd be cool.

Also consider the original pokemon that are all getting regional variants were from kanto/johto which is based on japan whereas galar and paldea are european. Two pretty far separated places even if we dont know how far apart they are in the actual pokemon world, developing regional variants makes a lot of sense to me

The Alcremie Halloween: Part 2

- The Shiny Hunt -

I got to hatching tons of milcery. I typically have really terrible luck with Egg shiny hunts specifically. I Remember hunting for a shroomish in Pokemon Y using the Masada method plus a shiny charm, and after maybe 1000 eggs there was still no red shroom in sight, and I eventually gave up.

Luckily I have a foreign ditto and a flawless Alcremie ready to go, so at least i didn’t have to spend any time setting up for the hunt. And so the boxes started filling up with these little buggers

I got a little worried about what would happen if i wasn’t able to find a shiny in time, I got pretty attached to the idea of sending out a shiny to some stranger. Now a days, only hacked shinies seem to come through surprise trade, but I remember the days of Wonder Trade Wednesday in Gen 7 where people would give away legit shinies to an unknown stranger. I really wanted to recreate that in some way, and at least if i send it over the GTS theres less of a chance of it going to a bot (i hope)

Lucky for me, a little over the 200 egg mark, I got the little void-eyed weirdo!

Now to evolve all of them (oof)

Can a meteorologist explain why colder weather makes the sky so nice without using the words "ice crystals"

I woke up late today, and subsequently got to work and back home late, but boi I finally got a decent paycheck and instantly there is a weight lifted from my shoulders. They say money doesnt buy happiness, but its weird how when I have money I'm happy and when I dont I'm not

I'm not gonna go too crazy but Mario Wonder comes out soon, and I also saw an ad for Star Ocean Second Story R and I forgot how insanely pretty that game looks. I gotta finish the first one so I can get on that. I basically just played Monster Hunter GU all day though. I'm finally actually clearing out every quest in order and man this one has a lot of egg gathering quests huh

But I talked the other day on my main about how the quests exist to ease you in to the next 500+ hours youre about to play, and straight up I have like a combined 1000 hours in Gen and Gen U and I'm learning new things and unlocking new equipment just by actually doing all the quests. I have so many new foods that I've never seen on my old save. I hope someone I know feels like playing with me by the time I run out of village quests though because the hub is balanced for 4 players, and I can do those fights because I'm kinda shnasty with it, but that shit takes forever bro. Maybe now that I'm playing Striker Longsword it won't take as long. That seems to be the answer to this games problems

I also need to stream pokemon quiz soon cuz I'm getting better at all the gens over time. I caught myself feeling bored of the gen 1 quiz earlier cuz I can do it sub 8 minutes pretty consistently and I'm like yes yes this is good

if im going savory, then 1000% pasta. like any kind of pasta is fucking amazing. whether its more like spaghetti, alfredo, ramen, simply buttered, or anything else, im gonna eat the FUCK out of that.

with sweet stuff... ough man i love so many sweets. strawberries are probably my fave fruit, and i love having them added to or dipped in various stuff (like put on cake or in brownies, dipped in chocolate, sugar, or cream cheese, etc).

and i fucking LOVE desserts man. i cant even decide what my fave kind of dessert would be bc whatever id prefer just depends on the moment. cookies, cake, brownies, fudge, cheesecake, its all DELICIOUS. i just recently made some rasbperry brownies and ohhh my goddddd they were so good. mixing fruits with dessert is the gd best. adding coconut to them is Top Tier

Song stuck in my head: its only vaguely in my head atm but animals by architects! i just discovered the song yesterday and i fuckin LOVE it. actually i think im gonna listen to it again now lol. addendum: listened to a couple more songs afterward and now i also have god complex by vira and nightmare by megumi ogata going thru my head

Last thing I googled: well, lol. i was looking up a site i could get a quick pic of the color i put up there ^ and apparently #FE0071 is also some sorta technical number for an electric fuel pump?

Time: it is 1 minute after 2am as i get to this part. i just woke up like an hour or so ago. my sleeps fucked up rn lol (i really dont like waking up this early, i much prefer waking up at like, anywhere between 10am and 2pm)

Dream trip: id love to go to japan someday with my girlfriend- once i actually like. learn some of the language lol. theres so many cool things over there related to series i love n i wanna experience them soooo bad. i HAVE to go inside a pokemon center some day!!!! miku concerts!!! series themed cafes!!! and id LOVE to go to the cat island and fox village, i love those animals sooo much.

Something I want: since im a huuge rouge and kurama kinny and have gotten ear, wings, and tail phantom limbs, i sooo badly want to get these:

tho id be ordering the ears without the lil slices on the ear. but OUGH i want these. so gd fucking badly. once i have these ill be unstoppable. ultimate kinny mode

okay so the game's legendaries are two dogs. Their names basically translate to 'that cyan one' and ' that magenta one'. specifically thats how it was supposed to be-their names were just the colors you saw glimpses of.

the two dogs followed a king (or a set of kings? twins maybe idk), one using a sword and the other absorbing a shield, where they fought a great threat and then turned themselves to stone in the fog. like lore is they both absorb metal particles, specifically one of a 'legendary sword/shield'. Some say the sword dog was the older sister, others say they're rivals.

The threat they faced against, was Eternatus. Now Eternatus is not its old name--The antagonist of the game in modern day times, named him. they're a poison skeletal dragon fellow, and they were very ultrabeasty. The final battle against him is a 4 way raid battle with yourself, your rival friend, and the two legendary dogs. In the background you can see portals, implying they have ties to ultraspace, ect. Which ya know, could be interesting for your fanfic.

Far as i know, Eternatus just released a energy that lets pokemon become giant sized-it itself may or may not have been a direct threat to the world as a large. It was sealed up basically forever after that, till the antagonist released it.

The antagonist was just desperately worried about a potential energy crisis 1000 years down the line and wanted to release that dragon for a brief time for a boost of the power source. So its really hard to see him as being evil, given how he's just trying to prevent a potential future disaster. he just, didnt have to react right away.

Most of the game has just small towns/houses, though occasionally you get gimpses of stuff like a massive castle for the dragon place, and one gym leader refuses to make their pokemon go giant sized because its not fun that way. Piers lives in basically a back-ally town and has his own musical theme, the only gym leader with that .

(the story of the dlcs were 'become a kung fu master' and that was fun, and 'so theres this legendary rabbit everyone sorta forgot about, causing him to forget/lose almost all of his powers. ' It was a very fun story arc where he's basically puppeting this poor man )

Oh man, that actually sounds really cool? I recently did an event in pokemas that touched on the doggos and eternatus, so I at least know what they look like! The shield doggo cracks me up, it's so goofy looking<3

It sounds like a pretty chill game tho. Nice to not have an antagonist who wants to take over or destroy the world (even if it's to "save" it). The text book definition of jumping the gun tho lol~

But portals you say? Iiiiintersting how many areas have ties to those things. Time traveling shenanigans are notoriously difficult to manage large scale, so I really hope they don't keep pulling modern people back (except for emmet he is allowed), but so far they've done a pretty good job as far as I can tell!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX Demo thoughts and observations

man, talk about a title!

Okay, this includes my first impressions of the free Demo, such as gameplay, graphics, and my personal opinions on things!

first of all wow, it went on much longer than I anticipated. I was expecting it to stop after we rescued Caterpie. Not so! And a cliffhanger (kind of. it's not like I don't know what happens) ending point too! It stops right before the Diglett rescue. About an hour and a half of gameplay, though that could change depending on how fast / slow you play through it of course.

this isn't anything important but when I tell yall I almost started crying when the menu music swelled up I am being 1000% sincere

When the quiz started up I realized just how faithful to OG games this was going to be. Dialogue is nearly, if not, identical.

everything about the UI is BEAUTIFUL. the rainbow bg. the text select. the sparkling hover over the pokemon you're choosing. UGH<3

I am glad for the implementation of the newer ability to chose what mon you want to play as if the quiz's selection doesnt satisfy you. its the best of both worlds and I feel leaving that out would have been a step backwards.

have i mentioned this game is fucking beautiful??

seriously. it takes some getting used to, but the throwback style art backgrounds and the textured + glow-y sprites work SO. WELL. imo (much better than the completely modern look of the last few games, if i'm being totally honest)

okay, now gameplay. -

we get a mix of old classic stuff and newer features/implementations plus some brand new stuff

basic attack is gone, which is whatever, but it'll take a bit of getting used to

move leveling up is back from super, which means starter movesets are busted lol

hunger is in! and seems to go down fairly quickly tbh

I GOT POISONED AND HOLY FUCK, POISON TAKES 40 DAMAGE EVERY 30 SECONDS OR SO. WHAT THE FUCK THATS LIKE ALMOST ALL OF MY HEALTH RN

frustratingly, the ability to turn where you face in one spot seems to be gone? which is kind of, really important. though i outta point out that if you default move - mine is ember for example - it points you at the enemy. sooo idk. maybe im missing something here but it doesnt seem to be in the controls/options (i looked)

aand theres talking bubbles now? cute in concept but pretty annoying implementation. when you or your partner use a move a little speech bubble appears above you with some flavor text. the result is that the screen looks crowded during battle. not a fan, though i guess i could get used to it. better yet, let us turn it off. (i did not find a setting to do so)

YOU CAN SWITCH LEADERS. THATS RIGHT. FROM THE START, IN THE DUNGEON, YOU CAN SWITCH LEADERS. THIS IS HUGE. i cant decide if its op or just long coming

you can see all enemies and items on the floor map.. before you see them yourself. not sure if i like this. seems a bit broken if im being honest. ofc, its not as though you know WHO the enemy is or WHAT the items are, or, necessarily, HOW TO GET TO THEM without looking yourself but, still.

moving on from gameplay-

THE TOWN IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL AND I WILL CRY ABOUT IT

Persian gives you a gift every day if you deposit/withdraw something?? its very sweet i love that rescue team support :')

theres a portal between your house/base and the job board which is cool! i prefer going through the town anyway but still useful

this isnt important at all but HNG KANGASKAN<333 I LOVE HER. IM JUST, EXTRA GRATEFUL FOR HER EVER SINCE.. SOME GAMES REMOVED HER. also her sprite blinks her eyes open or closed to match her talking icon which i thought was really good attention to detail

aaand thats all i have for now!! to conclude, i am ENORMOUSLY excited for this game. it looks absolutely gorgeous and is such a tribute to the original ones. march 6th here we come!!!

oh man, this might be long I warn you! I’m not sure how best to format it I think I’m gonna do like dots, coz otherwise it’ll be just a massive block of text

LOGAN:

honestly not as many thoughts as the other two aside from “nerd” and “inconsistent face” I look forward to trying to draw him one day and by look forward to I mean dread very much!!!

he’s totally not cishet look how he sits and his colour palette is pretty close to the ace flag so, though since he’s the villain for the decent amount of the game it’s important to be careful with that

I think that his design in combination with how the hobw tends to look feels antisemitic in a way that is recurring in fable that should be addressed more often I really hope if 4 ever happens they change the like good/evil morph pretty considerably, 3 is an improvement though

I don’t have many feelings towards him though as a character, there’s a thing with tone in 3 that I’ll talk about more with reaver that influences this I think, and just in general he sort of exists separately to everyone for most of the game, like he’s the player characters brother you should feel Something but there’s just no like. anything to their interactions. what’s his relationship like with theresa, with walter, with like Anyone, he just monologues at a map!!! do something talk to someone half a character is their interactions!!!! fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

like he’s fun I’ve made posts about him before, on a surface level he’s fun but like past that I just don’t really feel anything towards him? so it’s kind of hard to talk about him

I had an image of him up on my screen while writing this so this entire time he’s been staring me down hdkdj

the uh, like art of him with, the front of the armor that’s shaped like a crown is very funny that’s supposed to go on your head what are you doing

I have my own idea of how Hero stuff works because this is my canon now and I can’t be stopped and I really don’t like some parts of how they say it works, but I don’t know if now is the best place or time to talk about that, it’s partially relevant to all these characters but it’s kind of hard to explain and I feel like by the time I reach the end of this I’ll have no more words so I should really save them? I don’t know, I bring it up because it’s relevant though I just can’t decide

it’s funny that that’s his name, dude’s not very creative huh? like a clothier named Tailor, we get it george you steal things

I mean my name is crow because.I like crows..but I’M allowed to name myself stupid things because I’M sexy and cool and awesome and my ideas are good ones always (sarcasm)

for real though my thoughts here are complicated because there are parts to this character that touch on things that I like(pirates,cool spooky void stuff,) but those don’t get like, any focus

I like him in 2! I only like him in 2. aside from the weird character design decisions 3 made, theres the tone thing I mentioned at logan that I’ve been thinking about lately I’m not sure I can word it right but I’ll give it a shot!

so like, I think, fable likes to be funny, the feel it generally goes for is fun and it’s a fantasy game yknow? characters like jack of blades and lady grey (and the crawler kiiiind of? a bit) are obviously bad but because of either the way the game treats them or the way the game feels or the things they do theyre fun villains who I like! reaver in 2 falls into this I think, yes pirates are real but, like knights and stuff there’s. I can’t think how to word it, there’s a difference between historical knights and fantasy knights and reaver is a fantasy pirate, the shadow court stuff is obviously bad but that’s also not real? the tone of 2 is more serious than 1 and I haven’t replayed it in a while so I’d have to play it to know how it lands Exactly. but reaver in 3 hits too real with actual things and lady grey is also evil rich person but the tone of the game carries that where 3 is serious about it and it’s effects that’s like the whole point and you can have a character and a game that does that but you can’t have that character Also be the fun villain because then it confuses things, that’s Also not to say the fun villain can’t be interesting or like metaphors or whatever obviously it’s just The Feel of the thing, fable 3 can have its evil factory guy but reaver isn’t the character for that for so many reasons. I really don’t think I explained this in a way that makes any sense I can try to word it clearer another time maybe

I have fixed this internal problem I have by pretending very very hard that reaver isn’t in 3 and that’s just some other guy and that’s fixed all of my problems, even that stuff aside from a character perspective I don’t buy it

I have a whole thing about what he’s doing in 3 because I don’t know who the onceler guy is but that’s not him. it’s very neat I think please ask me about it I need an excuse to talk about it and this is already an excuse sure but it’s already very long

anyone else noticed that he always wears things that cover his neck? I noticed it when compiling reference images for my animal crossing thing and I hate to give you the bad news but I am certain he’d never wear the sexy pirate shirt, if I had to design modern clothes for him he’d have a turtleneck

I feel like I could read into the way he dresses (gloves, high neck,yknow?) in an interesting way actually but I’d need to think on it more

also actually before I keep pretending he’s not in 3 I don’t want to brush over the transmisogyny in the poster which is supposed to be viewed as a positive thing since it shows up, like when the rebellion is progressing right? I don’t remember the exact point of the game but you get what I mean. or the dress which would be fine if he wasn’t an antagonist in this game + the poster making it clear it’s intended to be something to be made fun of

I have made pokemon teams for the fable 2 heros because I think about them a lot and pokemon a lot and I want to share but I might wait until I’m in a pokemon brain space so it’s easier for me to, but I have Thoughts

the man who lives forever by lord huron has oakvale reaver vibes for obvious reasons and it’s also a good song and you should listen to it

a few lord huron songs do actually but I don’t want to associate those other ones with him in my brain because I like them and,like, it’s not my fault our aesthetics overlap!! I hate that!!!!!! I’M the sexier bi/pan nonbinary occult pirate Back Off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He gets ONE lord huron song, ONE, no more!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a few conflicting ideas of oakvale reaver actually I need to settle on one but I’m not sure which I’m gonna go with, one that song matches with way better

I’m always torn talking about him for like all the reasons I’ve stated and like, people talk about him plenty and maybe what I could say is different coz I think I interpret the character different to the way I see a lot, but it feels like I could put my energy elsewhere better same reason why it feels weird to draw him? he’s popular adding to that pile rather than like anyone else would feel weird of me, but my brain latches on to pirate and goes wild coz they’re important to me separately so, yknow I’m torn

I could say more probably coz like I said the fable 2 heros are my favourites and I have the most thoughts on them, but I’ve been writing this for actual hours coz words are very difficult to make and I have stuff I need to do today

anyway the oakvale ghost pirate is still cooler, he says yarrrrr and Didnt cause oakvales destruction, and he loves his wife!!! that’s like +1000 sexy points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and he’s a ghost which rocks

my thots on pokemon swsh (I have shield)

-really fucking cute, love the visual style and art direction (despite some graphical weirdness in places). the customization options (clothes, hair, league cards, etc) are so adorable and I'm a simple bitch that loves shit like this in games

-as someone who hates random encounters, egg hatching, and other such staple tedious pokemon bullshit, a lot of the mechanics in this game literally make me sigh with relief. mechanically this is probably my favourite pokemon game now. I can actually see myself 100%ing this game

-the story is stupid. It's not like I expected a good story from pokemon but damn I wish there was voice acting or something to make the cutscenes less boring

-hop is awful oh my god. He's only slightly better that hua but seriously, can they stop making the rival a complete joke. Other than that the characters are... okay. I like Marnie's battle theme

-the new pokemon are amazing, I thought gen 7 was really strong but I keep finding new favourites (galar rapidash, alcremie, the dreepy line, the applin line, sandaconda... etc)

-i really like the wild area, but it makes me wonder why theres even traditional routes anymore? Why not just make the whole map wild area?

-the game is easy, and it's not like pokemon games are hard, but I wish they'd actually make the gym leaders a challenge (give them a full team and throw in a few different types so that I cant just sweep every leader with one pokemon spamming the same move over and over again)

-i like camping and cooking but I wish you could pet the pokemon again

-HONESTLY I'd rather not have the natdex back. Again, I want to complete the dex and 400 pokemon is way more manageable than 1000+. The cuts never bothered me and I'd be fine if they just cycled through returning pokemon in future games

idk why this came to mind but here we go

Grunts:

When you run away from home, the first thing you think of isn’t “lemme pack the xbox real quick”. The grunts if anything, have handhelds, anything ranging from a gameboy to a scrappy old 2011 3DS with scuffs and maybe a dodgy button or control stick here or there, couple of dead pixels, and no money to get it repaired. MAYBE an old Wii or Gamecube, cause what kid is gonna fuck off and NOT take their Gamecube? Mario sunshine is FIRE (so yeah, theres probably a Gamecube somewhere in the mansion but it’s not in use)

Team Skull’s Grunts are notorious for vandalizing property and stealing shit that don’t belong to them, so any local game stores are reluctant to let them in.

Since Plumeria is such a pushover to her little siblings, Since Plumeria is so nice, she tucks in her skull medallion and lets her hair down to stuff it in a bandanna so that the store owners let her in, and she dons her Nice Face™ to go get games for the grunts once they give her the money, though this is a privilege, so if they piss her off, they get cut off from their supply.

There’s one old, battered Xbox 360 stashed in the closet. No faceplate, gotta use a pen or something to turn it on and the side has a crack covering the whole area after one of Guzma’s outbursts. The stupid thing overheats in the summer so its out of use for most of the year when it’s too hot. The only thing it’s used for anymore is Minecraft. The old 360 version doesnt update anymore, but that don’t mean there aint a couple worlds on there. The grunts on their off time (which is like, most days) will get out the 360 and boot up minecraft. That’s the one world that Guzma isn’t allowed in. He’s got his own.

Guzma:

Guzma’s Minecraft world is OLD, like... OLD bitch. Shits seen a couple birthdays. Plumeria had got the console from some guy on the street, giving shit away that he didnt need, basically a yard sale but everything was free. A take it if you want it and it’s yours kinda deal. Came with a couple controllers and a small group of games.

Guz’s world is a fuckin hot mess. Holes everywhere, he’s crap at building, looks like a 12 year old made everything. You bet your ass that he went into creative one time and just filled a chest full of TNT once he found out it existed. Grunts can join the game, sure, but the amount of small starter houses lying around that got blown up because they got pranked by the boss and fell victim to his stash of TNT is uncountable. Plumeria’s got a house too in that world, just like in the grunts’ one, but she’s hardly on the game since she has other things she prefers to do more often. Despite that, if Guzma dares TOUCH her fucking house she will pay him back double, be it in the game or in person. Guzma is the only one who would dare test her, so she doesn’t need to worry about the grunts messing with her stuff.

He doesn’t play FPS shooters anymore, because the other games that came with the xbox were Halo games. Those halo games are why theres a massive fuck off crack and no faceplate on the console. Also one time one of the original controllers went out the window, so there was a lot of 1 player gaming until they could afford another as a replacement. Now Guzma sticks to games he can either win or just fuck about in.

The Wii U in the mansion Guzma picked up for cheap at some yard sale (probably because the owner was thinking “what the fuck is the boss of Team Skull doing in my front yard please get off my property here take it please dont smash in my windows”). Needless to say, that was probably the biggest score of pretty much that whole year. I mean, if your first reaction to a 6′5, intimidating gang boss in your yard isn’t “just fucking take the console” or “hot” then your brain probably aint wired right. Guzma is the undisputed king of Mario Kart. He’s always the one with the gamepad because fuck everyone else. He gets to spy everyone’s items and thats it. No fucker else.

Plumeria usually nudges the grunts to lay off if they constantly place ahead of the boss, mostly for everyone’s sake, but mostly for that of the fucking money pot. she aint spending money on a new Wii U gamepad. She’s surprised the original one has lasted this long.

Plumeria:

Has over 1000 hours in animal crossing on DS. She also plays that brain training game that every mom owned back in like 2006. She plays casual games to keep sane. I mean, if she didn’t, she’d have blown this house up and moved to Kanto by now.

She also has Nintendogs, which she at one point found out that she had that in common with one of the girl grunts and so every week without fail, the two of them get together and give each other gifts and play with their dogs together.

(Sidenote: would nintendogs be pokemon dogs? Lillipup & friends, Poochyena & friends; Rockruff & friends, etc.)
