I support a woman's right to chose. Somethings are none of a man's business. Everyone has a right to their opinion and I respect everyone's. I'm not a politician so don't debate me on this. Keep it moving. I'm very disrespectful. Reposted from @anfemwaves via @jewishwomensarchive: ”#ThisWeekInHistory in 1972, the Jane Collective was raided by Chicago police. The Jane collective operated from 1969-1973, helping women in Chicago area with unwanted pregnancies access safe and more affordable abortion services. Most of the women they served were low-income and women of color-women who weren't able to travel to states in which abortion was legal.” — Very relevant right now. Abortions have been around as long as pregnancies. Anti-abortions laws do not stop abortions. They know this. They do not care. There will always be people/ collectives providing support/resources/access to abortions. Always has been and will he. Support your LOCAL abortion fund collective. https://www.instagram.com/p/CdGmTrAOTdw/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Shari Lewis was an imaginative puppeteer who created the characters Lamb Chop and Charlie Horse.
In 1952, Lewis appeared on the television show Talent Scouts, winning first prize with her hand puppet Lamb Chop. Four years later, she appeared with the puppet on Captain Kangaroo. Her extensive work in television included her own shows, Shari-Land and The Shari Show, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. By 1959, she had won four Emmy Awards—two as "most outstanding female personality" and two for "television's most outstanding children's show." She died #ThisWeekInHistory in 1998.

June 13th 1752, birth of English novelist, diarist and playwright Fanny Burney. Burney’s novels satirising the social pretensions of English aristocrats and the politics of female identity in the late 18th century, greatly influenced the writings of Jane Austin. In 1789 during the early days of the French Revolution Burney supported the Revolution’s aims, and met and married the exiled French General Alexandre D'Arblay, who had been adjutant-general to the Marquis de Lafayette. From 1760 to 1774 she lived with her family at number 50 Poland Street, which during the 18th and 19th century also housed other notable literary residents such as William Blake who lived at 28 Poland Street from 1785 until 1791, and Percy Byshee Shelley who lived at 15 Poland Street briefly in 1811. William Blake, Percy Shelley, and the events of the French Revolution are all depicted in the historically and steampunk based Industrial Sublime Tarot, a unique tarot deck based upon the years 1760 - 1848. Prints of the cards are for sale on the website. 2nd - 8th of August 1943 #thisweekinhistory PT-109 commanded by Lieutenant John F. Kennedy was rammed and cut in half by the Imperial Japanese destroyer Amagiri. Following the collision and subsequent explosion of PT-109 Kennedy would rescue one badly burned survivor as well help the rest regroup around the still floating bow section of the boat and eventually help to lead them to a series of small islands for additional safety. It would take six days for the party to be to be rescued, but thanks to the actions of several brave individuals including two native coastwatchers Biuku Gasa and Eroni Kumana, who would relay the message that would lead to the eventual rescue, Kennedy and the eleven other crew would survive the ordeal. #brickmania #brickmaniachicago #thisdayinhistory #wwiilego #legomilitary #legomodernmilitary #stayathomewithbrickmania #smallbusiness #bestjobever #schaumburgillinois (at Brickmania Chicago Store) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDpcGELJYKE/?igshid=1i6q00qs5etrz

The first Jewish American (and second woman) in space was Judith Resnik.
Of 8,000 NASA's space program applicants, only 35 were accepted into the program; she was one of just 6 women.
When The Challenger space shuttle exploded, just seconds after taking off from Kennedy Space Center, Resnik was among the seven crew members killed #ThisWeekInHistory in 1986.
She was given many posthumous honors, including the IEEE Judith A. Resnik Award, established by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and awarded to an individual or team in recognition of outstanding contributions to space engineering.
May her memory be a blessing.

Good evening fellow weekenders. My account proudly presents a one-off segment I like to call: “This Week In History”. About 6 years ago, I attended a 9/11 memorial service during my first year at Mercer. While we were praying🙏🏼, a photographer for the Trenton Times noticed me doing the pose you see before you. He liked it and asked my permission to publish it in the paper. I humbly granted him said permission. This week is when the article was published. I made the headlines! Best part about this is: my picture was made onto mugs, t-shirts, and more. I couldn’t believe it either, but it happened. So here it is. That concludes “This Week In History”. Tootle-pip! #thisweekinhistory #weekender #911rembrance (at Mercer County Community College) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2dKTBUHWF1/?igshid=kw9vk38zre58
