New Dragon’s World Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Attack! Titus smiled at his brother. “It’s good to see you, Ben. It’s good to see you too, Jessie. I’ve missed you guys.” Titus said. “Been a long time, Titus. Where’s Sarah?” Asked Ben. “Still at Angela’s shop. She’ll probably join us later.” Titus and his family walked through the mall, Titus’ parents still in awe about every little detail in the human realm. Ben and Jessie looked at them, puzzled, confused about how any person could find floor tiles or even windows interesting. “Titus, who are those two?” Ben asked, his  left thumb pointed at Titus’ parents. “Them? Those are my parents. In human form.” Titus explained. “Your parents? The ones from that dragon world place?” Jessie asked. “Yeah.  Sorry if they seem a little weird. If anyone asks, they’re immigrants, OK?” Ben and Jessie laughed, confused at how Titus could see them as only “a little weird.” “Sure.”
Titus and his family walked around the mall a little bit more. By now, Titus had noticed that his parents seemed to be right at home in the mall. However he knew that they would probably be back to the same, childishly amazed old people they presented themselves as during their mall trip. “You know, Titus. Something just crossed my mind.” Ben said. He sounded like he had a lot on his mind right now. “What is it?” Titus asked. “Why did your parents come to the human world? I doubt they’re here just to sightsee.” Titus turned to look  at Ben, a stern, serious expression apparent on his face. “I was going to tell you later but maybe I should just tell you now…” “Tell me what?” Ben asked. “Titus, what is it?” Jessie asked. Titus took a deep breath, then proceeded to tell his brother and his sister-in-law about Saulstrance’s survival. “Do you guys remember a dragon named Saulstrance?” Titus asked. “How could I forget? He’s why my parents…why our parents died…” Ben said, sadly. “Ben…the thing is…Saulstrance is a…”
But before Titus was able to finish his sentence, the family heard an explosion come from the far left side of the mall. People ran in a panicked frenzy for the exit. “What happened?!” Titus asked to no one in particular. Titus ran towards the sight of the explosion, his family following after him. “Dad, wait!” Drake called out to his father. Titus watched as everyone ran past him, his face in a scowl. The explosion came from the sports store! Smoke rose from the inside of the building, rising into the sky. Just then, someone emerged from the smoke. Oddly enough, this person was not even the slightest bit burnt. He had long brown hair that went almost completely down his neck, and wore a dark red trench coat. He walked out from the rubble and walked towards Titus and the others. “Did you do this?” Titus asked angerly. The man did not answer. He simply stood in  front of them, an arrogant grin on his face. Drake took one look at this man and…froze. Fear had taken over Drake as the boy began to shake violently. “Drake, what’s wrong?” Jackie asked,  putting her hand on her cousin’s shoulder. “That guy…he…he scares me.” Drake barely managed to say. Drake didn’t know what it was, but something about this guy was…off. It was like there was something more to him. But Drake didn’t know what it was. Drake also felt like he had seen this guy before. But he couldn’t recall where. “I’m gonna ask you one more time…did you blow up that store?” The man’s grin changed into a smile. An evil, toothy smile. “Why should I have to answer to you…Doulstraz?” The man said. “What did you say?!” Titus asked, shocked that a human he had never met knew his real name. “He called Titus Doulstraz!!” Ben exclaimed. “Who the hell are you? How do you know my real name?!” Titus asked, scowling even harder now. “Dad! I’ve seen that guy before!” Drake exclaimed, remembering exactly where it was that he saw his face before. “On my birthday, when mom picked me up from school! I saw him looking at us across the street!” Drake exclaimed. “I still don’t get how you know my real name. Tell me who you are!” Titus commanded. The man snickered to himself. “All the dragons from Lord Saulstrance’s home village know of the traitor dragon, Doulstraz. The one who nearly killed Lord Saulstrance two decades ago. Just then, the man’s body began to gain more mass. His fingernails extended outward, turning into blood red claws. His trench coat ripped art as developing wings made themselves known on his back, growing outward, becoming stronger. A long tail grew from his back, a sharp, pointed fin growing at the tip of his tail. Titus and his family watched in complete shock as his transformation continued and finally ended. Before them stood a huge dragon. It looked at them with deep, piercing eyes. However its main prey was Titus himself. “I am Girido. I am a devout follower of Lord Saulstrance. I will make sure Lord Saulstrance does not have to dirty his claws fighting you inferior dragons.” Titus looked at his family. He knew he had no choice but to fight Girido. But he couldn’t risk the safety of those he loved. And Girido obviously was not willing to allow Titus’ family to flee. “Ben.” Titus whispered, hoping Girido wouldn’t hear him. “Listen. I’m going to rush Girido. When I do, I want you to get everyone out of here. If you guys are here, it’ll just put pressure on me. Go to Angela‘s shop and get Sarah. Then drive back to my house.” “Alright.” Ben whispered back. Titus rushed for Girido, switching into his dragon form. He knew he didn’t want to risk people finding out that he was actually a dragon but as of now, giving his family time to escape was the more important of the two right now. “Come on!” Ben exclaimed. “We need to get outta here!” Everyone except for Drake ran for the exit. “DRAKE!!!” Ben called out. “Go on!” Drake called out. “I’m staying with dad!” “Drake! Get out of here, you idiot! This isn’t a video game! You need to go with them!” Titus shouted at his son. “I’m not a kid anymore, dad! I’m staying! No matter what!” Titus growled. He knew that whatever he told his son wouldn’t matter. He was too stubborn to really listen to Titus anyhow. Girido swung his mighty tail, demolishing two kiosks. “Shall we start?” Girido said, licking his muzzle. Titus rushed for Girido and, just as well, swung his tail at Girido. Girido took to flight, hovering above Titus and Drake. He zoomed right down, right where the father and son duo were standing. Titus headbutted his son out of the way, taking the fullforce of the hit. “DAD!” Drake screamed. Girido leaped back, landing in the center of the mall plaza. Dad! Dad, are you ok?” Drake asked, tears starting to flow from his eyes. Titus stood up and looked at his son. “Don’t worry. It’s gonna take more than that to knock me out.” Titus turned his attention to Girido, a surge of anger coming over him. “Why so angry?” Girido said with a wicked grin. “How many did you kill?” Titus asked. “Hmm?” “How many people did you kill when you blew up that store?!” Titus yelled, angered. “I estimate around maybe 10 or 20 at the very least.” Girido said, sounding proud of himself and not taking Titus’ question the least bit seriously. Drake’s wings and tail grew out, his ears switching back into fins. “Drake, I want you to stay behind me for now, alright?” Titus commanded. “Alright, dad. Kick his butt!” Drake cheered. Titus unfurled his wings and flew into the sky, Girido doing the same. Titus flew right towards Girido, shooting a fireball from his throat. Girido rose higher into the sky and zoomed down at Titus, smacking Titus with his tail and sending him crashing into Disco Burger. The entire building came crashing down, covering Titus in debris. Titus moved from the debris and wreckage, watching as Girido flew back down. Titus began to feel like he would not be able to beat him. If there was such a huge gap in strength between him and Girido, then he knew he wouldn’t stand much of a chance against Saulstrance. At this rate, he’d be lucky to even live to fight Saulstrance. Standing back up, Titus prepared for one last stand against Girido, realizing full well he might die.

New Dragon’s World Chapter 10
Chapter 10: Looking to the Past                                                                                                 Titus wandered through a cavern of rocks, unaware and unknowing of where he was. He looked up, noticing just how high up the rocks were. Some of which looked like they would fall on him at any second. Then he looked behind him. Aside from a few more rocks, a ray of light came from the small entrance that made itself known behind the rocks. Titus walked to see what it was, hoping it was a way out . What he found however, was not an exit. It was white. Nothing but an empty white. Turning his attention to the front of him, which was also nothing but white at the end of the cavern, he started to walk towards it, getting closer and closer to the white with each step. After about five more steps forward, the rocks disappeared, and Titus was walking in nothing but white, like the caverns had been erased somehow. All around him…white. As far as the eye could see. At this point, Titus knew walking would be pointless, since it looked like he would make no progress no matter how much he walked. Yet, something told him he needed to continue. Instinctively, he commenced to walking again, noticing that it didn’t even feel like he was moving. Like he was on an endless treadmill that went nowhere. After a while of walking, Titus came to a plateau. He noticed that now, not only was there actually ground but there was also sky. A…reddish sky. Titus began to feel uneasy, almost as if the red sky was like an omen of what was to come. He turned his attention to the plateau in front of him. There was someone over there. He ran over to see who it was. It was a boy! The boy didn’t move, instead he just sat in one place, crying, his back faced towards Titus. He noticed something familiar about the boy. He looked around, noticing he and this boy were the only ones there. When he looked back at the boy, he noticed that the boy now had wings, a reptilian tail, and finned ears growing from his body. At that moment, Titus knew exactly who this boy was. “Drake?” Titus asked, bending down and putting his hand on the child’s shoulder.
The boy slowly turned his head, his eyes meeting with Titus’. As Titus had suspected, this child was none other than Drake! Titus gasped at the sight of Drake’s face, noticing his face was covered in blood! He looked in shock as his eyes once again met with Drake’s sad, tear filled eyes. “Drake, is that you, son? What happened to you?!” Titus asked, worriedly. Drake got up and walked closer to his father. He kneeled down and put his head on his dad’s shoulder. “Dad! He killed them!” Drake cried. “Who, Drake? What are you talking about? Who was killed?” Titus asked, not understanding any of what his son was saying. “Everyone! Mom, Uncle Ben, Jackie, they’re all dead!” Instinctively, Titus looked around once more. This time, the bodies of everyone he knew and loved were lined around the plateau! It was just as Drake had said! They were all killed! It wasn’t just Sarah or the other adults whose bodies were among the few that were killed. Even Sean and Tim were among those who were killed as well as Titus’ parents! Only Titus and Drake were left alive. “Dad, we need to get out of here! He’s coming to kill you! He wants to kill you!” Drake screamed, sounding like he was about to lose his mind. “Drake, you need to calm down, alright?!” Titus said, trying to shake some sense into his son. “HE’S COMING TO KILL YOU! HE’S COMING TO KILL YOU! HE’S COMING TO KILL YOU!” Drake continued to scream at his father. “DRAKE, SHUT UP! STOP IT!” Titus screamed as he slapped his son. However Drake continued his chant, as if Drake had gone completely insane. Titus couldn’t believe any of this. What had come over his son? “NO! PLEASE NO! HE’S HERE! DAD, PLEASE!! GET US OUT OF HERE!!!!” Drake screamed psychotically as he started to cry uncontrollably. Titus looked behind himself again and noticed a dragon standing behind him. He couldn’t make out what it looked like as it was hidden by a thick black mist so that only its evil red eyes shown through. Through the mist came a jet stream of fire. Titus awoke with a startle. He was back in the cave. He rubbed his face, realizing how much he had been sweating as he dreamt. He sat upright for a few minutes, thinking over what he had just dreamt about. The sight of everyone he ever cared  about dead as well as seeing his own son going insane probably scared Titus more than Saulstrance himself. He looked at Drake who was still curled up into a ball so that all that only his tail was not curled up with the rest of his body. Drake’s wings were wrapped around his torso, like he was using them as a blanket. They coiled all the way around, meeting at his frontside, his left wing just barely covering the tip of itself over the tip of the right one.. Titus wondered how long they must have slept. It felt like they had been asleep for two months. There wasn’t a single hint of sunlight in the cave so it was hard to say exactly how long they had slept. Titus put his hand on his son’s arm, giving him a nudge. “Drake, it’s time to wake up.” Titus whispered gently. “mmm?” Drake mumbled a little as he began to awaken. He rubbed his eyes and stretched as he yawned. “Hey, dad. Good morning…I think.” Drake greeted. “Sleep well, Drake?” Titus asked. “Yep! I feel great!” “Well maybe we should get going to your uncle Ben’s house now. We still need to talk with him.” “Yeah.” Drake agreed. Both Titus and Drake hopped out of the nest and headed for the exit to the cave. Before heading out into the store, Drake closed his eyes and his wings and tail retreated back into his body. His ears changed back to normal human ears. “Ready to go, Drake?” Asked Titus. Drake nodded as Titus opened the door. A very bright light shown in their faces for about half a second before revealing the store to them. They noticed a woman, already in the store. She was stocking up on plushies and toys. “Sarah?” Titus asked. The woman jumped and turned around, panting from the shock. “Titus?! Drake?! What are you two doing here?! I thought you were going to see Ben!” Sarah exclaimed, still shaking. “Well…I…” Titus began to say. “And don’t ever do that again! God, I almost had a heart attack! I think you both took a good 15 years off my life!” “Sorry, mom.” Drake said, snickering behind his breath. “Anyway, Sarah, I wanted to show Drake the shop you and I stayed at when we were kids. I just wanted to show him our…Angela’s shop…” At that moment, the chatter died down, turning into a complete silence. “…I see…” Was all Sarah said. Her voice changed into near monotone. Sarah smiled, albeit a fake smile. “Drake, if Angela were alive, she would have loved you a lot. Me and your father actually would have made her your godmother, had she still been around…” Sarah said, her smile fading as a tear ran down her cheek. Titus pulled out Angela’s scale and showed it to Sarah. “Titus?” Sarah asked. “I want you to hold onto this for me…for right now.” “Are you sure?” Sarah asked. “I am…” Titus said in a serious tone. Sarah gently took the scale from Titus and clenched it in her left hand. She put her right hand over her left and held her hands close to her. Titus and Drake walked towards the exit to the store. Before heading out into the plaza, however, Titus turned to look at Sarah. He walked over to her and kissed her. “We’ll be back.” Titus said. Sarah watched as her husband and son walked out of the store. “Titus, wait!” Sarah called out. “Yeah?” Titus asked. “Jackie and Kyle are somewhere in the mall with your parents.” Said Sarah. “That’s good. I needed one of them to show me the way to Ben’s house anyway.” Titus said. “Bye, mom! See you soon!” Drake shouted, waving to his mom as he and Titus headed into the mall. Titus and Drake walked through the entrance of the mall. Along the walls were advertisements for movies and sales. They were kept in the kind of cases you would see at a theater. Titus reached into his pants pocket and pulled out his cellphone, which surprisingly, he didn’t crunch while sleeping. Then again, Sarah always told Titus he never moved around much in his sleep. Even when he had the worst nightmare. “Guess I’ll call Kyle and Jackie and see where  they are.” “Dad?” Drake asked. “What’s up?” Responded Titus. “Was that in your pocket when you were sleeping?” Drake asked. “Yeah. Guess I forgot to take it out.” Drake looked at his dad, amazed that he didn’t crush it. “Heh. Drake, dragons don’t move a lot when they sleep. I’m a dragon, and even when I’m a human, I don’t move around that much when sleeping.” Titus explained.
Titus punched in Kyle’s number first. As Titus waited for Kyle to pick up, he and Drake continued to make their way into the mall. “Hello?” “Hey, Kyle, it’s Uncle Titus.” Titus greeted. “Uncle Titus? Where are you? Sarah said you and Drake didn’t come home last night. We’re looking everywhere for you two!” We looked all over town!” “Sorry to worry you guys. It’s a long story. But yeah, Sarah found us and we’re at the mall right now. We’re right at the front entrance, next to Sarah’s shop.” Titus said. “Alright, I’ll get Jackie and your mom and dad and we’ll meet you guys over there.” And with that, Kyle hung up. Titus figured it would be a while before Kyle and the others found them. He decided he might as well grab some breakfast while he waited for Kyle and everyone else. “Drake, what d’ya say we get some breakfast while we wait for everyone?” Titus asked. “Alright. I am kinda hungry.” Drake said. Drake followed his father over to the food court.  They saw a small coffee shop set up outside and decided to get some breakfast from there. Titus ordered only a cup of coffee while Drake ordered a cookie and a bottle of water. After paying, both father and son sat down at one of the many tables. Titus watched as his son ate away at his cookie, pausing every now and then to take a drink to wash down the cookie. Titus sipped his coffee as he watched Drake. Watching Drake, he noticed how happy and carefree he seemed. It reminded Titus of when Drake was younger. Never did a day not go by where Titus wouldn’t see Drake smiling. But ever since Titus and the others learned of Saulstrance’s survival, Drake didn’t seem to smile much anymore. That just made Titus all the more determined to defeat Saulstrance, so he could see his son smile like that again. “Guh…They’re late…” Titus thought to himself, still taking sips of coffee now and then. Titus started to remember the more peaceful times he had spent with Sarah and Drake. He remembered the day Drake was born.  April 12th, 2013, the date of Drake’s birth. It took nearly 50 hours for Drake to finally be delivered, but when he was finally born, that may have been the happiest moment in Titus’ life. Drake weighed eight pounds and 4 ounces at the time of his birth, Titus’ first words to Drake being, “I love you…Drake.”  At that moment, both Sarah and Titus agreed that that would be the name of their child. “Dad! Hey, dad!” “Huh?” Titus snapped back into reality, hearing his son’s calls. “Everyone’s here.” Drake said, pointing behind his father. Titus turned around to see Jackie, Kyle, and his parents standing behind him. “Daydreaming again, uncle? You haven’t changed much since you were 13.” Jackie smiled, “Sorry. I was just…remembering some stuff.” “Like what?” Drake asked. “It’s nothing. I’ll tell you guys later.” Titus finished up his coffee and got up, Drake getting up as well. The family walked through the mini mall, enjoying this one peaceful moment they would be able to share together. “I never would have imagined all this was in the human realm.” Titus’ dad said. “You’d be surprised, dad. There’s places way bigger than this. I’ve seen buildings that are bigger than even the biggest dragon.” “Buildings bigger than the biggest dragon? Now you’re sounding silly, Doulstraz.” Titus’ mom said. “No, it’s true. Spend some time in the human world and you’d be amazed.” “Psst! Kyle!” Jackie whispered. “How can they talk about dragons and other worlds and stuff like that so nonchalantly? And around people who would look at them funny.” While everyone else continued to talk, Drake thought to himself how happy he was to be alive. Even with the battle a few days away, Drake was still happy, just to be with his family. Maybe there was a positive side to this battle. Drake was able to bond with his dad, he met his grandparents for the first time, and he was able to truly spend time with his family. Drake grinned happily as he marched along with everyone. “Hey, Kyle and Jackie?” Asked Titus. “Yes?” They asked back. “I’m gonna show my parents around some more. Why don’t you and Drake go see a movie or something?” “Well I’ve got a bit of money. Yeah. That sounds like a good idea. Do you want to go see a movie, Drake?” Jackie asked her little cousin. “Yeah!” Drake cheered. Titus and his parents watched as Drake headed off for the theatre with his older cousins. Drake ran ahead of them, Jackie telling him to stay close to her and Kyle so he wouldn’t get lost. “You’ve raised a fine son, Doulstraz.” Titus’ parents complimented. “Thanks…” Titus said, sounding like there was something on his mind. “Doulstraz, what’s wrong?” Asked his mom. “I had a really disturbing dream last night. I was walking through a cavern of rocks. As I continued to walk, I came to this plateau where I saw Drake, kneeling on the ground, crying. His face was covered in blood. And…” “And?” Titus’ dad added. “You and everyone else were dead…” Titus’ parents didn’t say anything. “Drake was the only one left alive aside from me. He started to go insane, I had never been that frightened. Not even by Saulstrance.” “Frightened by Drake going crazy?” They asked. “Yeah…” “Doulstraz, I am sure that will never happen to him.” Titus’ dad assured, putting his hand on Titus’ shoulder. “I hope not…” Titus said, under his breath. Titus and his parents continued their walk through the mall, stopping at every, and literally, every single store they came across. This was all very new to them. Titus’ parents had never seen the human realm and thus, were ignorant of its ways. Every little detail of the human realm fascinated them, even the tiles on the ground, which at times they could not help but look at. Another half an hour or so of walking commenced. “Doulstraz, why don’t you tell us a little about Drake?” Titus’ mom asked. “Huh?” “Well…where should I start? I guess I can say that I’m very proud to have him as a son. And that I’ve always enjoyed the times I spent with him.” “Like what?” Asked Titus’ dad. Titus began to tell his parents some of his fondest memories of being with Drake. He told his parents about the time when he first took Drake trick r treating. Drake was only four at the time. He wore a Batman costume that vaguely resembled the design of the first Batman. Drake held both his parents’ hands as they walked around their block, stopping at each and every house they passed so that Drake and his friend Sean, who at the time, was also four, could get some candy. He told them about the time Drake started his first day of kindergarten and met his “elementary school sweetheart”, Crystal. Titus told them about when Drake came home from his first day, and how he told them there was this girl that he liked. Both Titus and Sarah laughed, thinking how cute it was that their then six year old son would have a crush on someone on his first day of school. Even though Drake had never confessed his true feelings to Crystal, he had always loved her and knew one day, he would tell her how he felt. Titus also told them about the day when Drake first learned that he was a half-dragon. And how he thought that he was becoming a monster after discovering his wings and tail…and his finned ears. Titus’ parents laughed a little. “Yeah, but now Drake’s really happy with being a half-dragon. I think it’s because it makes him more unique than other kids.” “Doulstraz, your son is unique no matter what? Do you know why? It’s because he’s your son.” Titus’ parents said. Titus smiled warmly at his parents and hugged them. “Hey, dad!” Titus heard a voice call from far away.  He looked behind himself to see Drake, running up to him with Jackie and Kyle behind him…and a man and woman who appeared to be nearing their 50s. “Ben? Jessie? No way…” Titus said in disbelief. “Hey, Titus. Good to see you again.” Ben said, smiling. “Turns out they were actually watching the same movie we were. Isn’t that weird?” Kyle said. Titus smiled, happy to be reunited with his whole family. He figured he would tell Ben and Jessie about Saulstrance later. For now, he didn’t want to spoil this happy mood.

New Dragon’s World Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Warm Memories As the car took off in the direction of Ben's house, Drake shifted around in his seat, making sure the seatbelt was latched. They pulled out of the parking lot and drove way from the college, Kyle beginning to sober up. Which unfortunately, only made his headache worse. "Ow, my head!" Kyle said to no one in particular. "That's what you get for binge drinking." Jackie teased, laughing a little. "I didn't chug 'em all at once." Kyle whispered to his sister. "Yeah, like that matters." Jackie said sarcastically. "Ow! C'mon not so loud!" Kyle exclaimed. "I wasn't even talking loud. See? You're a freakin' mess." Jackie turned to Drake. "Drake, don't turn out like your big cousin, Kyle when you're older, K?" Jackie smiled. "Right!" Drake said, laughing a little. Kyle was starting to get pretty steamed. Kyle moaned in pain as he held his head. "Hey, Uncle Titus. Could we talk to my parents tomorrow?" Kyle asked. "Aww, what's da matter, widdle bwother? Are you afwaid mom and dad will find out you've been dwinking?"
"Th-that's not it!" Kyle said, his face beaming in shame. "But you looked so happy partying with your frat brothers. I thought they'd love to see their youngest child show off his newfound drinking skills. Doesn't that sound exciting?" Jackie continued to tease, relentlessly. "I-I just don't want to wake them! You know how early mom and dad go to sleep, Jackie. " "Yeah. OK." Jackie said, not believing any of what he was telling her. Titus turned his car, heading for home before going off to Ben's house. "Dad?" Drake asked. "I'm gonna drop everyone off at home." Titus said. "Oh, thank you, Uncle Titus! I love you so much!" Kyle exclaimed pathetically. "Aw, no! My evil scheme's been foiled! Drat!" Jackie said sarcastically. Drake continued to laugh at Jackie and Kyle. The first time in a while he actually was able to laugh. With that, his fear of the upcoming battle practically washed away. At that moment he was just a normal, happy little kid. Ten minutes later, Titus and everyone else made it back to Titus' house. Kyle, leaning on the car for a bit of support looked at the house. The house had a white coat of paint with a fence that extended from the front of the house to the back.  It reminded Kyle a bit of the condo he grew up in. He remembered how he and Jackie used to play in the backyard together, as children. If you could really call it a backyard. It was more along the lines of a walkway covered in the sibling's toys. Outside of the walkway was an outside table with four chairs seated around it. The perfect amount for Kyle and his family. "Do you need help, Kyle?" Titus asked. "I'm okay. I think I can walk now." Kyle said, still with his left hand covering the top of his head. He rubbed his head, hoping the pain would go away. "Knock, knock!" Titus called out. The door opened, the person at the front door being Titus' mother. "Hey, mom." Titus greeted. "Welcome back, Doulstraz." She said warmly. In her human form, Titus' mother looked like an old woman at around sixty. She had greying hair with some blonde spots in it. Literally a perfect disguise. Titus' father looked the same way, except as an old man who was also greying. "Mom, are Sarah and dad home?" Titus asked. "Just hold on a second, Doulstraz. I'll go get them." She smiled at him. "Doulstraz?" Kyle asked. "My dragon name." Titus explained. "Oh, yeah. You've been a human for so long, I kinda forgot you were really a dragon." Kyle laughed. Jackie just sighed, neither her nor Drake or Titus saying a word. Titus, Drake, Jackie, and Kyle heard footsteps making their way down the stairs. Sarah noticed everyone standing in the doorway and walked up to Jackie and Kyle, smiling with her arms out. Jackie walked towards Sarah and hugged her. Sarah then hugged Kyle, noticing he smelled like booze. "C'mon, guys. Go ahead and sit down." Sarah said. "Kyle, could you sit on the floor?" "What?!" Kyle asked, still with a pounding headache. "I just don't want our couch to smell like liquor." Sarah explained. "Nice to know my family loves me so much." Kyle said, pouting. Everyone laughed, ironically, even Kyle himself couldn't help but laugh. "So Kyle, how's college going for you?" Sarah asked. Kyle, still rubbing his head with his left hand, said, "Can't complain. It's going well, I guess." "Tell her your new talent." Jackie smiled. "Shut up, Jackie!" Kyle exclaimed. "Don't worry, Jackie. I know. I could smell it on him..." Kyle groaned in annoyance. Drake walked up to his cousin. "It's okay, Kyle. We're just kidding!" Drake grinned. "Yeah, don't be so serious. Turn that frown upside down, little brother!" Jackie laughed. Titus laughed a little. "Okay, guys. That's enough. If we keep attacking Kyle, he'll be too weak for the battle!" Titus laughed. "Seriously, just SHUT UP!" Kyle shouted. At that moment, the laugher stopped. Not even a faint chuckle was made. "Sometimes you guys can really be jerks, y'know that?!" Kyle exclaimed. "Kyle...we're sorry." Titus said in a quiet voice. "It's not like I'm proud to be a drinker! I really try not to drink that much! But eventually, even if I have just one beer, I can't stop!" Kyle buried his head in his arms. Everyone gathered around Kyle. Titus put his hand on Kyle's head, rubbing his hair like he used to when Kyle was a little boy. "I'm sorry, Kyle. I didn't know you felt so strongly about it. I should've been nicer to you about that." "Same here." Jackie said. Kyle brought his head from his arms. He looked at his uncle and sister. They were smiling warmly at him. Then he looked at Sarah and Drake. They also smiled at him. Titus' parents also smiled at him. He knew even though they teased him, they still cared deeply about him. They were his family. The people who'd help him through anything. Including his alcohol addiction. "Thank you, guys." Kyle said, getting up and hugging them. After the little family hug, Titus got up and walked towards the front door. "Where are you going, Titus?" Sarah asked. "I'm heading out for a bit." "Are you going to see Uncle Ben and Aunt Jessie now?" Drake asked. "No. I just want to go out and drive for a while. Drake, will you come with me?" Titus asked. "Me?" Drake asked, pointing to himself. "Sure. Okay." Drake ran to his father and the father/son duo headed back to Titus' car. Sarah and everyone else walked out to the front door just as Titus and Drake were buckling up, Drake sitting in the front seat with his dad. "Well be back in a little bit, Sarah!" Titus shouted to his wife. Titus pulled his car out of the driveway and headed in the opposite direction of Kyle's college. "Where are we going, dad?" Drake asked. "Drake, has mom ever showed you where she works?" Titus asked his son. "Nope. I've never seen where she works." "Okay, then." Was all Titus said. "Why?" Asked Drake. "You'll see." Titus drove past the very same street Ben used to live on. The street where Titus lived for seven years of his life. Before he headed off for college. He looked at all the condos for a brief moment, a wave of nostalgia washing over him. He remembered the first day he came to live in California. It was an unusual day. For once, it was actually raining. Something that only happens once or twice a year in California. When he was thirteen, he thought that it was raining because of all that happened to him. Like the skies themselves were crying for Titus. As the car passed up the condos, He stopped at a stop sign. On the left-hand pole was a street sign. Titus began to read it to himself. "1070, Elm Avenue..." "Dad? Did you say something?" "No. It's okay." As the stoplight flashed green, Titus started his car again and continued to drive north of Ben's old house. Titus turned into the intersection and got on the freeway. After about a few more minutes of driving, He noticed a Target right off the freeway. He took the nearest exit and looked for a way into the parking lot. After finding one, Titus and Drake drove into the lot. "Dad, mom works at a Target?" Drake asked. "No. That Target's just close to where she works." Titus drove through the vacant lot, looking for the plaza. After finding it, he parked his car and got out, Drake following behind him. "Have you ever been here, Drake?" Titus asked. "No. Never." Drake responded. The plaza was unusually quiet. Not a single person was in sight. But that was fine for Titus. It just meant he could have more of a father/son moment with Drake. Titus looked around the plaza. The stores were still the same as they were when he was a teenager. He remembered that this plaza and mall was the very place where his first journey began. He remembered when he fainted in the shopping center. He also remembered meeting Angela and Sarah here. Titus smiled to himself, happy that, after two decades, he still had those warm memories of his past. "Drake, did you know I met your mom and Angela here?" Titus asked. "You did? You met mom here?" Drake asked. "I never told you, Drake. but your mom was an orphan. She was being chased by some guys. I tried my best to protect her and after that, I guess she just started to fall in love with me." Titus explained. "I never knew mom was an orphan..." "Angela took her in. She stayed with the two of us as I began to turn back into a dragon. Heh. Your mom loved dragons as a kid. I think that's one reason why she fell in love with me." Titus said. Titus walked over to a small store. He looked at it with recognition in his eyes. He grabbed his keys and browsed through them, pulling out one key. He stuck it into the keyhole and turned, unlocking the door. "This is where mom works, Drake." Titus said, flipping on a light switch. Drake looked around. It was a plushie store. Drake looked in awe at all the plushies. They were so cute! Many of the plushies were of dragons, with some being of different animals ranging from turtles, to foxes and even kitsune. Being back in the store he spent most of his transformation in made Titus feel both sad and happy. He was happy to be back in the store that had such a huge effect on his childhood. Yet he was sad. Sad with the knowledge of Angela's death. "This store belonged to Angela." Titus explained. "Drake." Titus said. "Yeah?" Drake asked. "I think if Angela were still alive, she'd be really happy to meet you. No. I know she'd be happy to meet you. If she were alive, I bet you'd love her just as much as I did when I was your age. Maybe even more than me." Titus said, smiling as a tear ran down his face. "Dad, I'm sorry." "Why, Drake?" Titus asked. "About Angela. I'm sorry that she died." Drake said sadly. Titus put his arms around his son and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Drake. You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that." Titus said, tears starting to stream down his face. Titus led his son over to the door in the far back of the store. He opened the door. It was dark inside and Drake couldn't see a thing. "Go on in, Drake." Titus said. Drake walked in and felt his foot hit something hard. It was a rock! Drake looked around. They were in a cave now! A cave in the store! The very cave Titus lived in as he became a dragon again. "Dad, what is this?" Drake asked. "This was my cave for a short time. " Titus explained. Titus started to cry. Drake looked back and noticed his father, probably the saddest he's ever been. "I'm sorry, Drake. It must be embarrassing to see your old man cry."  Titus said with a strained voice. "It's not. I don't think it's embarrassing." Drake said, tears starting to make their way down his face as well. Drake walked over to his dad and buried his head in his dad's stomach, crying. Both father and son couldn't cease their tears. "Dad?" Drake asked. "Yeah?" Drake sniffled. "Can we sleep here tonight?" "You...you really want to?" Titus asked, shocked. "Yeah. And for you, too." Drake smiled sympathetically. Titus' tears continued. This time, however, it was because Titus was happy. He kneeled down and rubbed his son's head. "How'd I get such a great and nice son?" Titus smiled. Drake wrapped his arms around his father's neck. "Because I have a great father." Titus showed Drake the place they'd be sleeping in. Drake decided that since it was just him and his dad, he'd revert to his half-dragon form. Titus decided he'd talk to Ben and Jessie in the morning. For now, he figured he'd re-enjoy the most precious moments of his early teen years. Soon after, both father and son were sound asleep. The two slept peacefully, without a care. There was happiness for both of them. In their hearts.

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 14
Pt. 14 The End of Saulstrance I dashed right towards Saulstrance. He didn't make any sudden moves. Was it because he wasn't worried? I was much smaller than him so I knew I wouldn't be able to do much but I was willing to die trying. For Angela. Just then, part of the wall started to fall apart, leaving two big holes. My parents emerged from the holes that had been left. "Mom, Dad!" I exclaimed, happily. "His real parents..." I heard Ben's parents say. I noticed a sense of shock in my parents' eyes. "I never would have figured...Saulstrance..." My dad said. "Dad, who is this guy?" I asked. "His name is Saulstrance. He's one of the most evil dragons to ever come from the Dragon Realm." Dad explained. "He was banished to the Human Realm for slaying an innocent dragon. As a bonus, he was cursed into having the body of a human, so he could live out his final days as a human. With all the limitations of one." Mom finished.
"But now, I'm finally myself again." Saulstrance said. My parents noticed Angela's body, laying dead on the ground. "Oh, no...!" My mom said in shock. My dad roared. Then yelled," SAULSTRANCE!! DID YOU DO THAT???!!!" Saulstrance looked at Angela's dead body. Then turned to my mom and dad. "Oh, her? Yeah, I did. Her blood allowed me to become a dragon again. She should be grateful in death. She allowed me to return to my previous form. Now I can get back to spreading fear in the Dragon Realm. Let them now that SAULSTRANCE HAS RETURNED!!!" Saulstrance laughed. My dad lunged at Saulstrance in a rage. He tried to bite into Saulstrance's neck. Saulstrance hit my dad with his tail, knocking my dad back. "DAD!!" I exclaimed. I turned to Saulstrance. I ran for him. "YOU BASTARD!!!" I screamed. Like what he did to my dad, with a mere flick of his tail, I was sent flying into the wall. I fell with a dull thump. It took one hit from him, and the wind was already knocked out of me. "We've got to something!" Sarah exclaimed. "That's easier said than done. Besides, we can't beat him, even together." Ben explained. "Then, only Titus and his parents can beat him." Jessie said. "Uncle Titus WILL win!" Jackie exclaimed. "Yeah! I believe in him, too!" Kyle added. My friends and family began to cheer me and my parents on. I thought to myself. I had made these friends and family BECAUSE I ended up in this world. I wouldn't even have this many friends had I continued to live in the Dragon Realm. I got up. I realized I was fighting for more than the dragons of the Dragon Realm. I was fighting for my friends too. Me and my parents ran towards Saulstrance. I looked up, on the higher level and noticed Ben's parents. They were talking to themselves. "Why are they fighting so hard?" Ben's mom thought. "It's pointless. They can't win..." Ben's dad thought. Then I thought to myself, "It's not pointless. And I'll show you. We WILL win." I ran ahead and jumped. I prepared to launch a fireball at Saulstrance. This time, he dashed up to me and smacked me with his head. I landed on the ground, severely injured. "STOP SAULSTRANCE!! HE'S JUST A CHILD!!" My mom yelled. I tried to stand up, but my limbs were weak after that hit. I fell again. I watched as my parents fought Saulstrance. I tried to keep my eyes open but because I had taken such a hit, I was beginning to feel woozy. I couldn't keep my eyes open and I passed out. Then everything was silent. When I woke up, I noticed that we were all standing outside of the facility. "Ugh...What happened?" I asked. "Looks like the little dragon's awake." Sarah said. "How are you feeling?" Lucas asked. "I could be better but...what happened?" I asked. "Where's the facility?" "It blew up." Kyle said. "What? It blew up?" I asked. "And what about Saulstrance. "He and Ben's parents died in the explosion." Jessie explained. "They did?" I asked. Ben turned away in sadness. He looked as if he was about to cry. "Oh, yeah. Titus, before they died, I heard them say something to you and Ben." Jessie said. "What was it?" I asked. "To Ben it was 'Take good care of your brother.' And to you they said they were sorry for what they had done." Jessie explained. I smiled to myself. In my head, I accepted their apologies. "So  what now?" Jackie asked. "I want to take a look at the remains." I said. I flew over to the remains of that awful building. My body was starting to feel a little better. I looked around at the smoldering remains. Ben's parents had definitely died in the explosion. But... "What the...?!" I thought to myself. Sarah walked over to me. "What's up, Titus?" Sarah asked. "I...I don't see Saulstrance's remains." I explained. "How can you tell if a person's remains are still around?" She asked. "It's just one of my traits of being a dragon." I said. "But Sarah?" I asked. "Hmm?" "Please don't tell the others...but I dunno if Saulstrance is really dead or not. And I don't want anyone to worry." "Okay. This'll be between us." She said. I wasn't certain about what happened while I was unconscious. I dunno if Saulstrance is really alive or not. What I do know is that we saved the Dragon Realm. And maybe even the Human Realm. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two Months later --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two months had passed since we defeated Saulstrance. I went to the Dragon Realm for a while so my parents could teach me how to become a human again. Upon my return, the first place I wanted to visit was my old home. I walked past my old house and noticed that it was bought. I walked past all the usual places where I would hang out. I walked down the creek where me and my friends would play or relax by. I noticed some of them. Lucas was there too. One of my friends caught sight of me. "Hey, it's Titus!" My friend said. They all turned and noticed me. Tears started to flow from my eyes. I dashed away, my eyes still flooding with tears. "Hey, what's wrong with him?" I heard my friends asked. But Lucas said something else. "Goodbye, Titus..." I cried loudly as I ran from that place. I knew this would be the last time I ever saw my friends. THE END

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 13
Pt. 13 The Fifth Dragon From inside my cell, I could hear Ben's screams. Those weren't normal screams from what I could tell. I could also hear the voices of two other people. I assumed it was his parents. "Behind us is Titus, as well as some baby dragons." They explained. I could hear footsteps: It was Sarah! I tried to run towards her but chocked a little. I remembered I was still chained by my neck to the wall. I struggled a little as I clawed at the air. I look at Sarah while I struggled. She looked shocked at what she was seeing. "Why...why would you do this?" I heard her ask. "Why should we tell a little girl why we do what we do?" Ben's mom asked. I couldn't believe that this was how Ben's parents really were like. They were so nice to me when I was younger. Was that all just a lie? I heard two more footsteps: It was Ben and Lucas this time! I never thought I'd be so happy to see them. "Ben! Lucas! Sarah!" I exclaimed. Ben grabbed hold of the door handle and pulled on it. It didn't budge. "Dammit! OPEN!" He shouted.
"That's no good, Ben." His mom said. "To open the cell, you need one of the keys." "Well then, will you give the key to us, or do I have to force you to?" Ben said. Ben's dad jumped at him and pinned him to the ground. He seized hold of Ben's neck. "DON'T YOU THREATEN US! WE GAVE YOU YOUR LIFE AND WE CAN ALSO TAKE IT AWAY!" Ben's dad shouted at him. I could hear Ben struggling to breathe. I clawed at the air some more. I didn't want to see Ben get hurt. Just then, I heard a roar outside. Ben's dad let Ben's neck go and got up to see what it was. I heard the wall start to break. The impact from the destruction sent me flying halfway across the room. It was Angela! She landed in the opening she made. I got up and ran over to her. The chain that held me to the wall was still fastened around my neck but at least now I was free. I ran up to Angela. She lowered her head and I nuzzled up against her. "This is bad!" Ben's mom said. "We gotta let the leader know." Ben's dad finished. Ben's parents ran towards the entrance. Angela walked over to the cell door and knocked it back with her tail. I dashed out and reunited with my friends. I was overjoyed to see them again. "Are you alright, Titus?" Lucas asked. "Yeah. I'll be fine. What about Ben?" "I'll be okay. I'm just glad you're fine." Ben said. "Okay, now let's get out of here!" Sarah exclaimed. "Not yet." I said. "I can't leave these little dragons in this place. Angela, we'll go on ahead. Could you free these little guys?" I asked. "Yeah. If we're going to save you, we should save the others imprisoned here." Angela replied. "Thanks." I said. As we made our way for the front door, we heard someone call out to us. At the upper section of the entrance was Ben's parents and a mysterious man. They had Jessie, Kyle, and Jackie as their hostages! "Ben!" Jessie yelled out. "Help us, daddy!" The kids screamed. "Let them GO!" Ben shouted at the mysterious man. The man got on one of the railings at the top and jumped off it. I was amazed when he landed. He didn't appear to be hurt. And especially after jumping off what must have been a two story drop. "So you're the dragon, Doulstraz. The baby dragon who thirteen years ago, managed to, with the help of his parents, escape to this world." He said, with a wicked smile. "Who are you?!" I asked. When I looked into his eyes, it felt like I was looking into an eternal blackness. Yet, it felt like what I saw was not the real thing. Almost like there was more to him. This man had the most penetrating eyes. They probably could make a grown man quake in his boots. He had reddish brown hair that was slit back and he had two sets of nose piercings. "I guess I should introduce myself." He said. "I..am Saulstrance. I am the one who is in charge of this organization. I am the one who organized that the baby dragons of the Dragon Realm be kidnapped and that their parents be killed." The man, now known as Saulstrance explained. "But why would you do something so horrible?" I asked. Saulstrance looked at me with a cold look. Then walked over to me. He grabbed me by my horns and held me above his head. "Horrible is what you and your friends have done, little dragon. Barging into my organization, attacking my guards, destroying parts of my organization. I should punish you right NOW!" He shouted. "Let Titus GO!" Sarah exclaimed. Saulstrance looked over at her. "Don't you EVER command me again, you filthy human!" Saulstrance threw me at a wall. I landed with a thud. "Titus!" My friends exclaimed, rushing over to me. "Doulstraz, do you know that a dragon's blood can do more than just extend the lifespan of the average human?" Saulstrance asked. With the snap of his fingers, some of Saulstrance's henchmen brought in a captured Angela. They had her tied to the ground. One of the other henchmen brought what appeared to be a sword to Saulstrance. "Let me show you what I mean!" Saulstrance shouted. He ran for Angela with his sword in his hands. He lodged his sword into Angela's heart. As I bear witness to what just happened, I was at a loss for words. Angela coughed up some blood and her head lowered to the ground. As her blood spilled onto the ground, Saulstrance put his hands next the open wound and let the blood flow out into his cupped hands. He brought his hands to his face and drank the blood. "When a dragon loses blood from its heart, that blood can even so much as break curses." Saulstrance explained. Tears flowed down my face. Sarah's hands covered her mouth in shock. Lucas and Ben also seemed to be close to tears. I walked towards Angela. "Ti....tus." Angela said, she really sounded like she was going to die. "Please Angela, don't talk." I pleaded. "Ti...tus. I'm...so glad...that your....parents....let me...look after you." I gasped as my tears traveled down my face. "Do you...want to know...the secret...of your...tail?" She asked. "My tail?" I asked back. "When...you were...just beggin...ing your...transformation...your tail...had a mind of...its own...do you...know why?" Angela asked. I nodded. I didn't. "It...was...because of...me." She explained. "But how?" I asked quietly. Angela gave a faint chuckle. "When...you've been...around...as long as...I have...you tend to...learn...things like that." I shut my eyes and cried. "Angela." "Doulstraz. No...Titus, please...become...a good dragon. Don't...turn out...like Saulstrance." And with that, Angela shut her eyes. "Angela, wake up!" I pleaded. "ANGELA!" I nudged at her. Nothing. Everyone else cried and tried to hold back their tears. "Titus..." Ben said, sadly. "She...she's dead." "No." I thought to myself. "NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I screamed in pain and sadness. Just then I heard screams from Saulstrance. We turned our attention to him and noticed that he was transforming. He was turning into a dragon! But how? I wondered. I remembered that he said something about the blood of a dragon's heart being able to cure curses. But did that mean...that he was a dragon himself? We watched as his transformation came to an end. He let out a mighty roar and looked himself over. "I'm finally myself again." He said, licking his muzzle. "I guess I should thank that dragon though. Allowing me to kill her so that her heart's blood would be the catalyst to restoring me back to my true self. How foolish." He said arrogantly. I growled in anger and sadness. I had heard enough of this jerk. I'd never forgive him for killing Angela, but to even insult her in DEATH made me furious. I walked towards him and stopped after five steps. "What? You want to challenge me or something, little dragon?" Saulstrance asked. "No." I said, quietly. "I want to kill you!" I glared at him with a stern, serious look. I was NOT going to let him get away with killing one of my closest friends. I rushed for Saulstrance. "I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!"

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 10
Pt. 10 The Transformation Comes to An End I woke up after having passed out yet AGAIN! I thought I had this crazy dream that instead of my reflection, a small, child dragon's reflection was in place of my own. I got up from under the sheets. Everyone was standing around me. They looked like I had just done something pretty weird. "What's everyone looking at?" I asked. "Don't you feel strange?" Lucas asked. "Why? Should I? What's going on?" I asked. "Well, Titus. Your transformation's complete." Sarah explained. I couldn't believe it. So the little dragon in the mirror actually WAS me. I looked at my hands. They had claws growing out of them and looked like my feet. And just like my feet, they're were only three fingers on each hand, or paw as they now were. I brought one of my paws to my face and felt my face, all the way to my new snout. I stood up and looked at the spot I was resting in. Strands of my hair had fallen out. It was actually real. I thought my transformation would have taken longer. "So, how's it feel, Doulstraz?" Angela asked.
I thought about that for a while. How DID it feel to me? I mean, I was born as a dragon, so getting readjusted to my real body might not be so hard. "It...feels pretty strange. Yet...it feels cool at the same time." I said. I didn't know how else to put it. "So this is what Titus really looks like, huh? And all this time, I thought he was just a scrawny guy." Lucas teased. "HEY!" I shouted at Lucas. I burped up a flame, which, ironically, scorched Lucas. It didn't do terrible damage at least, which was good. I wouldn't really want to hurt Lucas. "Geez, Titus! That hurt!" Lucas exclaimed. The upper half of his shirt burned up when I scorched him. "Umm, Lucas, I think I should get you a new shirt." Ben said. He went upstairs to get a new shirt. I walked around the room a little to try out my new body. Like Angela said, I could only walk on all fours so that took some getting used to. I went to the full-bodied mirror Angela used to show me my completed transformation. I noticed that two beautiful horns were arched on the top of my head. My eyes were now reptilian and it seemed as if I could see things better than I could as a human. Angela walked up to me. "Doulstraz." Angela began. "Yeah?" I asked. "I think we should go back to the Dragon Realm." "Why?" I asked. "Well don't you want to show your mom and dad your new form? I'm sure they'd like to see what their only son looks like after he's been in a human form for his whole life." Angela said. "Yeah, Titus. Besides, I'd like to meet your real mom and dad." Jessie said. "Yeah! We want to go to!" The kids shouted, happily. "Wherever Titus goes, I go." Lucas finished. "Let's all go." Ben said. "Besides, this may be the last time we ever get to see Titus...I mean Doulstraz." He said. He sounded a little sad at the possibility. "Why do you say that?" Lucas asked. "Titus was born a dragon. His parents might want to take him back and try to start a new life with their son." Ben tried to explain. I lowered my head. I didn't  want to leave. Even though so much bad stuff had happened to me, I had grown to love my life. I didn't want to just leave the friends and family I had made. Because I knew that if I did, they'd all truly be sad. "Ben, it's okay. I'll never leave you guys. I love being here, with all of you." I said. Ben walked up to me and rubbed my head. Just like he did when I was a little kid. "And I love having you here. You're a good ki--I mean dragon, Titus. Or Doulstraz I should say." Ben tried to correct himself. "It's okay, Ben. You can still call me Titus. That HAS been my name for thirteen years after all." Ben smiled warmly at me. He bent down and wrapped hs arms around my neck, giving me a hug. "I'm so proud to have such a good brother. No matter what happens Titus, this will always be your home. We ARE brothers after all. Regardless of blood, and regardless of our species and who our real parents are." Ben said, I could feel a tear running down his cheek and onto my shiny green scales. "Ben...thank you." I said. Tears ran down my face as well. Ben got to his knees again. "Is everyone ready?" Angela asked. We all said yes. Ben opened the door and outside, was the portal waiting to take us back to the Dragon Realm. "So this is the way to this Dragon Realm?" Jessie asked. "Yeah." I said. "The realm I was originally born in." We all walked through, together. When each one of us made it through, the portal closed behind us. Everyone else’s bodies, as well as my own flew without force to them, towards the portal to the Dragon Realm. "This is cool!" Kyle and Jackie exclaimed. "Are we in the Dragon Realm?" Jessie asked. "Almost. Just another minute and we should be there." I said. As I had said, in a minute, we made it to the Dragon Realm. It was dark, just like when we made it here last time. I led the way to my parents' cave. everyone else followed behind me so they wouldn't get lost. As we made it the cave, I lit the torches with my fire breath. We walked through the now lit up cave. Until we made it to the end of the cave. The end was most likely my parents' bedroom. "Mom! Dad!" I called out. Two shadows moved. They walked towards the light. "Oh! Doulstraz! Is that you?" They asked. "Yeah!" I jumped up and down happily. "I'm a dragon again!" "He looks so happy." Sarah said. "Do you think he'll want to stay here?" Kyle asked. Ben didn't answer. He just looked on. "Ben?" Jessie asked. Ben snapped out of his daydreaming. He looked at Jessie with a bit of a sorrowful expression. I could tell he'd probably really miss me. "Doulstraz, do you want to live with us? In the Dragon Realm?" My mom asked. I looked at Ben. Then I looked at Jackie and Kyle. I could tell they were trying to hold back their tears. Then I looked at Sarah. She also looked as if she was about to cry.  Jessie also had a look of sadness on her face. Lucas had his arm over his eyes. He, as well as everyone else probably felt sad that I might not return to the world they live in. I walked towards mom and dad. But was stopped by Lucas. "Wait, Titus!" Lucas exclaimed. I turned my head over to my friends. "So this is it? Are you really gonna be happy here? Aren't you going to miss us? We've been your friends and family your whole life. You probably never would've known about this place if you hadn't met Angela!" Lucas exclaimed. His eyes, flowing with tears. "Lucas..." I said, sorrowfully. "Uncle Titus! Please don't leave!" The kids shouted. I was amazed. Even after they found out that I was actually a dragon, they still considered me their uncle. "Guys...please don't make this harder for me." I thought. "Titus, I only got to know you for such a short time. I really wish we could have gotten to be closer friends. Because to me...you're...you're..." Sarah couldn't finish her sentence. She started to sob. "Titus..." Ben said next. "You should do what'll make you happy. If you want to stay here, then who are we to stop you. This place was where you were originally born." "Ben...big brother." I said quietly. Tears started to fill my eyes as well. "Titus. You're by far one of the nicest people I had ever met. Even if you are a dragon, you still have us as your family." Jessie said. "Jessie, everyone."  I said. "Doulstraz, if you want to live in the human realm, that's okay." Mom and dad said. "We don't want to break the bonds you have with these humans. And Angela will take care of you too. Right, Angela?" They asked. "Yeah! You guys have been my friends for so long, I figure I should do at least that much." "Thanks, everyone." I said. Tears filled my eyes as well. This time, I was crying tears of happiness. I ran over to my friends and family as they ran towards me and gave me a hug. "He's really become a good dragon." Mom said. "I hope he'll be able to live happily with those humans." Dad finished. We walked towards the exit of the cave. Upon exiting, I heard an explosion. "What's that?" Sarah asked. "Oh no! It's those humans again!" My parents exclaimed. I growled at the thought of them. I had had ENOUGH of this! I ran towards where the explosion came from, hoping I'd be able to put a stop to this. "TITUS!" Everyone yelled.

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 9
Pt. 9 The Dragon in the Woods I sat on my nest (which is what I decided on calling my new bed). It was only morning and I wasn't tired. Sarah and Angela went to the store to get some food. I wondered what they were getting? They didn't tell so maybe it would be a surprise. Pondering about it made me sleepy. I started to doze off. I fell asleep. By the time I woke up, it was around 5:30. I yawned a little and stretched my legs. I hopped out of my nest and walked towards the entrance to my cave. I went out, into the store which was closed. I saw Angela and Sarah putting food away. "Well. Rise and shine, sleeping dragon." Sarah teased. "When'd you guys get back?" I asked, rubbing my eyes. "Four hours ago." Angela said, she was in her human form. "Hey, Angela. You didn't go out in your dragon form, did you?" I asked. "Are you crazy, Doulstraz? I don't want to be found out. I went with Sarah in my human form." "Besides. The grocery store's across the road from here." Sarah said. "Heh. Oh yeah. So what food did you guys get?" I asked. "Well we got some meat, which all dragons love. as well as some food for you." Angela said. "Food for me?" I asked.
"Yep. Here ya go." Sarah said. She sat a bag of DOG FOOD on the floor. "Are you crazy?!" I shouted. "I still have human taste buds. I'm not eating dog food!" "You're a young dragon, Doulstraz. You've got to start with baby steps." Angela said. Her mouth was full from the raw steak. "Yeah, but...dog food? I'm turning into a dragon, not a dog! Why would I eat this stuff?" "Children dragons' teeth aren't as strong as a grownup dragons'. The least a young dragons' teeth could do is bit through flesh. But raw meat isn't good for a young dragon's teeth like yourself. Besides, your fangs haven't come in yet." I opened my mouth and looked in the mirror. Angela was right. My human teeth still remained. "Well can I at least have human food? I'm not gonna eat dog food if that's what you're thinking." I said. Angela sighed. She got up and headed out the door. "Where are you going?" I asked. "I'm going to get you something to eat. Something that you CAN eat that isn't raw." Angela said. Instead of turning into a dragon, Angela walked through the plaza. There must've been a restaurant around here seeing as how she usually flies when she goes to a far off place. A good ten minutes passed, and Angela was back. She was carrying a bag. "So what'd you get?" I asked. She handed the bag to me. It felt warm. I took out what was in the bag. "You...bought me tacos?" I asked. "Those are your favorite human food, aren't they?" Angela asked. I nodded. I sat down and started eating. "By the way, where'd Sarah go?" Angela asked. "She went back into my cave. She said she was going to sleep since she was stuffed." Angela walked into her side of the cave as well. "Don't forget to turn off the lights after you're done eating." Angela said. As soon as I was done, I was a bit tired too. I got up and put the remaining tacos in the fridge. I yawned and headed for the cave. But not before turning of the lights to the store. I climbed into my nest and quickly fell asleep, wondering how much longer I'd have to wait until my transformation was complete. As I slept, I dreamt about my life in the Dragon Realm. I was playing with my mom and dad. I flew around happily. My dad and I pretended to wrestle, and my mom would always help me feel better if I got hurt. But those happy times didn't last. The cruel humans that my mom and dad mentioned signaled that they were in the Dragon Realm by killing one of the adult dragons. One of the other humans grabbed one of the baby dragons. It tried to fight back but he tasered it, knocking it unconscious. Mom and dad took me into the mountains. A place they hoped the bad humans would never find me. The portal opened up and Mom nudged me with her snout, into the portal. I didn't understand what was going on. I flew through the portal, my body not having any control over itself as I flew through and eventually, made it to the Human Realm. I remembered a lot of trees as I fell through and was knocked unconscious. I woke up with a startle. Was that a memory of when I was a baby dragon? I sweat a little. "Titus...what's wrong?" Sarah asked, drowsily. "I think I had a repressed memory of when I was a dragon." I tried to explain. "I need you to wake Angela. There's something we need to do." "What?" Sarah asked. "I'll let you both know in a little bit." I headed out into the store as I waited for the others. "What is it, Doulstraz?" Angela asked. "I need to talk to Ben." I said. "Doulstraz, your transformation isn't over. You--" "I know! But I just had an old memory right now. I remember coming into this world. I saw a bunch of trees. And then..." "And then what?" Angela asked. "I...lost consciousness." "I see. It's possible Ben DOES know." Angela said. "No. It's not possible. He DOES know. He's the one who can help me piece together the last parts of my past." I said. "Are you really sure you want to do this?" Angela asked. "Yeah. I won't be happy unless I can learn if this dream was actually a memory or not." Angela and I headed out of the store. Sarah followed behind. "Wait! I want to come too!" Sarah exclaimed. "Yeah. Let's all go together." I said, smiling. We flew for Ben's house. Sarah rode on Angela's back. I flew by myself. It seemed like my wings had gotten stronger. They didn't feel tired anymore. We finally made it to Ben's house. Sarah hopped off Angela's back as she turned into her human form. We stood at the doorway to my brother's house. "Doulstraz...are you sure you want to do this now? There's still time. Wouldn't you rather wait until your transformation ended?" Angela asked. To be honest, I was a little scared. I didn't know what Ben would tell me. All I knew was that eventually, I'd have to learn about my past so I figured that it'd be best to get it done now. I gulped a little. But then I gave my answer. "Yeah..." I said, somewhat quietly. I knocked on the door. The door opened. It was my brother. I was more than happy to see him. I wanted to give him as big a hug, but he didn't look too happy. "Hey! Are you the kid that stole my son's shirt?!" He asked, in an angry tone. "No, Ben. It's me, Titus!" "Yeah, right! Titus is 13! You're just an eight year old kid. And I gotta tell you, that dragon costume really looks fake." He said. "I AM Titus! Something's happening to my body and--" Ben grabbed my by the shirt and shaked me. He looked like he was getting furious. Just then I saw Lucas and yelled out to him. "Ben! What're you doing?!" Lucas asked. "That's Titus!" "What?" Ben asked. He let me go as I held my throat, trying to get some air to my lungs. He allowed me into his house, despite that I didn't look much like my old self anymore. Jessie and the kids walked downstairs. "What's going on?" Jessie asked. "Who's this kid?" "He says he's Titus." Ben said. "You mean UNCLE TITUS???" The kids asked at the same time. Jackie walked up to me. She didn't see that I was in fact who I was claiming to me. She saw me wearing Kyle's eight shirt and grew an angry look on her face. "That looks an awful lot like my brother's shirt.." Jackie said. "And what's with you? Why are you wearing this ridiculous half-finished dragon costume?" Jackie asked. "Jackie, it's--" Jackie picked up my tail and held it in her hands. "Y'know this tail feels pretty real. Let's see if I'm right!" Jackie yanked on my tail. I yowled in pain. "Don't DO That!" I exclaimed. Jackie had a freaked out look on her face. I noticed my tail was moving around. Everyone else aside from Lucas, Sarah, and Angela looked a bit freaked too. "His...tail...it's moving." Ben said, dumbfounded. "It's...a...real...tail." Jessie said, sounding like she was about to lose her mind. "Uh...hey kid." Kyle called to me. "Why do you have a tail growing out of your butt?" He asked. Ben sighed. "I knew this day would come." "What're you talking about, Ben?" Jessie asked. "Everyone, sit down. I've got some stuff to explain to Titus." Ben said. "Titus, you already know what's happening to your body, right?" Ben asked. I nodded. I didn't want to say anything. "Thirteen years ago, when I was living in Utah, I was helping dad take some dead branches of a tree over to the woods near our house after a terrible storm. As I tossed the branches into the woods, I saw something. It looked like some kind of lizard. I hid behind a tree so it wouldn't see me. I turned my head to see what it was. I couldn't believe it! It was a living, breathing baby dragon! It didn't move. It just sat there, crying. It looked somewhat injured. I felt bad for it so I walked toward it. It saw me and got frightened so it ran off. I chased after it. I knew it wouldn't be able to survive in these woods. It was just an infant. I eventually found it. The dragon was sitting near a small lake in the woods as it cried some more. It sounded like it lost its mother and father. I tried to approach it again. This time, instead of walking right up to the little dragon, I stuck my hand out. It sniffed my hand. I told it I wouldn't do anything to harm it and it walked up to me, looked at me with its reptilian eyes, and licked my face. Then it yelled in pain. I figured its leg was badly wounded. I decided I'd take him to stay at my house until he got better." "And that dragon...was me, right?" I asked a little nervous. Ben said yes then continued the story. "My mom and dad were furious because they thought I had brought home a lizard that I glued wings and horns onto. I told them to feel its wings and horns. They were amazed that it really was a dragon that I had brought home with me. They said that since the little guy didn't have a home, that he could stay with us. And from that day on, the dragon became a part of our family. Then one day..." "One day?" Sarah asked. "One day, as I was bringing the dragon some food, I noticed that the dragon was missing. In its place was a baby. A human baby. I picked the child up and held him in my arms. I wondered how the dragon could've changed without knowing what a human baby really looked like. But I soon figured it out as I saw a pictue my parents had of them, holding me as a baby. I figured that was how the little dragon did it. And from that day on, the dragon, which I had named Titus, was raised as my little brother, instead of my pet." I looked down. I felt a little sad. Yet I was happy, knowing how this all really happened. "Titus. Do you know why I bought you Flame on your fourth birthday?" Ben asked. "Because you wanted to give me a friend?" I asked. "No. That's only part of it. I bought you Flame because it looked like you when you were a dragon. I figured if I had bought it as a present for you, you might remember your true past. However, I was wrong. Instead, you would simply pretend to be a dragon whenever you went to play in the yard. I figured that might be the first step to helping you to uncover your memory." Ben explained. I smiled. I was glad that I finally knew the truth. "Thanks, Ben. That's what I need to know." Just then, I clutched my stomach in pain. I fell on the ground. What was happening to me? I wondered. My head ached as twin horns pushed their way out. I saw that my hair was falling off my head, leaving me bald. My face grew out and pushed itself outward, becoming a long snout. The scales were beginning to take over my body. The changes caused me to pass out from the pain. I woke up a little later. A blanket was placed over me. "Looks like he's awake." Lucas said. "What's going on?" I asked. "Well, Titus...you might want to see for yourself." Sarah said. Angela brought over a mirror and held it up so I could see myself. I screamed in shock. I was now a young dragon! My transformation was complete.

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 6
Pt. 6 Titus Earns His Wings "Doulstraz, huh?" I asked. "What do you not like that name?" Angela asked. "Actually.. I think it's a pretty cool name." I responded with a smile. My tail bobbed around happily. "Looks like my tail likes that name too." I broke my attention away from my tail for a sec. "So what am I supposed to do now? Just stay in this cave?" I asked. "Unfortunately, you don't have much of a choice, Doulstraz. You can go out at night though. No one should see you." "How won't they?! I don't have wings yet!" I exclaimed. "You never know..." Angela said with a devilish, draconic smirk. I yawned. I didn't realize I only got a few hours of sleep. All these revelations made it difficult to think about sleep. "Tired, Doulstraz?" Angela asked. "Yeah. I'm going to bed." "Okay. Good night, Doulstraz." Angela said, warmly.
I found a nest, just perfect for sleeping in. Since the nest was rounded, I slept curled up into a ball. My tail just hung there as the only thing that wasn't curled up. As I slept, I dreamt about what was happening in Utah. I wondered how my other friends were. I wondered what happened to my old house. I wondered what happened to my parents. I woke up with a fright. It was the same dream. I thought to myself. I brought my head to my knees and sobbed a little. It was the same dream as the ones I've been having since I came to California. I stopped sobbing for a sec. My legs felt strange. They felt... scaly. I got up, otu of my "bed" and walked to where there was more light. It looked as if CLAWS were growing out of my toes. My pinkie toe and my big toe were missing, leaving only three toes on each foot. I noticed on the back of my feet, there was a single claw. My feet had green scales growing on them. The scales were goring up all the way to my mid section. I knew that couldn't be good. I pulled my pants down and was shocked at what I saw. "Did THAT have to go?" I thought to myself. My mid section had scutes growing from it. The scutes continued, all the way to my stomach. It seemed they came from my tail as well. I noticed my feet were larger than before. The bones in my legs looked as if they repositioned themselves. My leg bones now faced backwards. My legs also looked as if they had more muscle in them. It also appeared as if I had gained a little bit of height, however I still wasn't as tall as I previously was. That wasn't the only new addition to me. I felt my back. Two new appendages were sticking out. I had grown a pair of WINGS! I was actually very excited. I tried flapping my wings to see if they worked. I hovered above the ground for a split second. then my wings gave out. "Looks like I've got a bit of practicing to do with these guys." I said, somewhat proudly. Angela walked in. She was in her dragon form. "So I see the little dragon's got his wings." Angela said. "Yep." I smiled. "And I've got digitigrade feet." "I've gotta say, Doulstraz. You're turning out to look like a pretty cute hatchling." I blushed a little. I knew I wasn't fully dragon yet, but hearing that just made me feel like maybe the transformation won't be so bad. "Th-Thanks, Angela." I said, looking down at the ground, embarrassed. "So what are you going to do now?' Angela asked. "What do you mean?" I asked. "It's already night time. Since most people are asleep, you're free to wander around California." "I think I'm going to go back to my brother's house." I said. "Doulstraz, are you sure?" "My friend, Lucas will understand. Adults don't understand stuff like this as well as us, kids do. And my nephew and niece would just blab about seeing me halfway through my dragon transformation. Lucas is my only hope." I explained. "What are you going to tell him?" Angela asked. "I'm gonna tell him to tell my brother and the others not to worry about me, and that I'll return soon. There's some stuff I have yet to do." "...I see." Angela said. "This'll also give me a chance to try out my wings." I said with a wide grin. I walked out the door to the shop. Then I opened my wings and flew off, towards my brother's house. In less than a half an hour, I made it to my brother's house. I saw Lucas, sitting on the couch. I waited until my brother and his kids were upstairs. Then I knocked on the sliding glass door. Lucas got off the couch and came outside. "TIT-" I covered his mouth before anyone could hear. I told him not to yell or anything. "What happened to you, Titus? Why are you so small now? And what's with your legs?" "I'm turning into a dragon. I'm at least midway through my transformation." I tried to explain. "So why are you small then? If you're becoming a dragon, shouldn't you be as tall as a house or something?" Lucas asked. "That's the thing. When my transformation's finished, I'm gonna be a child dragon. I'll be at least the size of a dog from what I heard." "Heard from who?" Lucas asked. "I'll tell you later. I need you to pass on a message." I explained. "Okay. What's the message?" Lucas asked. "Tell my brother and his family not to worry about me. I'll be back. But I have stuff to do right now." "Okay. Anything for my dragon friend." Lucas said. I unfurled my wings again. "Wait!" Lucas exclaimed. "What's up?" I asked. "When you become a dragon, will you still remember us?" Lucas asked. I thought about that myself. I didn't know how to respond. I simply replied, "I'm not too sure myself." I again unfurled my wings and flew off, into the sky. I waved goodbye to Lucas. Maybe, this would be the last time I ever saw them. I saw Angela flying through the sky too. She dove down. "I'm proud of you, Doulstraz. Don't worry. You WILL see your friend and family again." I was happy knowing that I'd still see them but right now, I was more happy about this. I thought becoming a dragon would be a bad thing, but now, I was more excited than ever. I closed my eyes and imagined myself as a dragon. "Yeah. Being a dragon. That'll be SO cool." I said to myself. I snickered to myself a little. "You say something, Doulstraz?" Angela asked. "Nah. Just thinking to myself." We flew back to the shop. I wondered what would await me as my transformation continued. Lucas, Jackie, Kyle, Ben, Jessie. Please...wait for me.

New Dragon’s World Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Day 4, Mysterious Happenings on the Final Day "Wow! Look at all of these!" Jessie exclaimed excitedly. Jessie browsed the small bookstore, accompanied by Sarah and her son Kyle. The shelves were wooden and quite dusty. They contained books both old and new although the old far outranked the new. There were only about eight shelves in the entire store and they were neatly lined up in two rows of four. By the store's left window was a rack of comics. Like a kid in a toy store, Jessie eagerly walked down each aisle with Kyle and Sarah following behind her. She carefully browsed each row of books from top to bottom. "I never pegged your mom as being a bookworm." Said Sarah. "Yeah…She's really taken to reading ever since me and my sister left home. I guess it gives her something to do when she's not at work." Said Kyle. "What about your dad? What's he do these days?" Sarah asked. "He's currently been working on some illustrations. Dad's been saying that he wants to try his hand at writing a children's book and that he wants to get it published by the time he's 50." Kyle explained. "Well I …" Sarah paused as a shiver went down her spine.
A feeling of unease swept through Sarah's body. She quickly turned around and just outside the store window, she saw someone run away. She was unable to see what the person looked like, catching only a glimpse of his or her arm. Sarah ran out of the bookstore and ran in the direction of whoever-it-was. She ran into an alleyway, panting slightly and looking around. Much to her surprise, there was no one there! But how? Had this person run up the block, she would have more than likely seen whoever it was and the alleyway she was standing in met at a dead end with no backdoors. Whoever this was was either incredibly athletic or… "Was I…imagining things?" Sarah asked herself, wiping sweat from her chin. Shortly after, Jessie and Kyle caught up with Sarah. "Sarah, what was THAT about?" Jessie asked. "I'm sorry, I just…Say…didn't you guys get the feeling that someone was watching us in the bookstore?" Sarah asked. "Kyle?" Asked Jessie. Kyle shook his head. "Sorry, Sarah, I didn't see anyone either." Jessie answered. "Really…?" Sarah asked with disappointment. "But…I could've sworn I saw someone…" Jessie placed a hand on Sarah's shoulder. "Sarah tomorrow is the day that Titus fights Saulstrance.  You're probably just a little tense. Come on. Let's go back to the motel." "Yeah…okay…" Just as the three made their way back, a storm began to roll in. The already darkened clouds became even darker, the temperature becoming much cooler than before. A single drop fell from the sky, more following suit as it eventually began to pour. Sarah held out her hand. "Wow! Desert rain! I never thought I'd get to experience this!" "Yeah…you don't exactly get a lot of rain in the desert. Hell, you don't exactly get a lot of rain in this state, either." Kyle responded. "It's kind of beautiful." Jessie said. "You really think so, Mom? It just seems like the same ol' rain to me." Kyle said. Just as they were walking up to the motel, they spotted two policemen standing before the steps to the second story of the motel. Police tape and barricades had been put up to prevent anyone from interfering with the crime scene. They also noticed a police car parked right next to the motel's sign. The car door swung open and from it emerged Sheriff Frank. It looked as though he was waiting for them. He shut the door and walked over to them with a grim and very serious expression on his face. "Is there a problem, officer?" Asked Sarah. "You could say that…I'm certain you know a man named Ben Flamel?" "Yes, he's my husband. Why, did something happen to him?" Jessie asked with grave concern. Sheriff Frank led Sarah, Jessie, and Kyle over to the crime scene. On the fifth step from the bottom there was a small puddle of blood. The blood turned brown and had begun to harden. The three of them gasped as Jessie trembled at the sight. She clasped her hand over her mouth and felt as though she was about to be sick. "What happened to my husband?! Where is he now?!" Jessie shouted. "Miss, please relax. Your husband's going to be fine. He was taken to the clinic. Thankfully his wound wasn't too bad. All they're going to do is wrap the wound up in a bandage." Frank explained. Frank looked down at the dried blood. "Still though…there's something about this that really bothers me: It was the size of the wound." "The size?" Kyle asked, not understanding what Frank meant. "When we found him, his right arm was soaked in blood. Now I've seen my fair share of stabbings but nothing like this. Call me crazy but it almost looked as though someone stabbed him using their fingers." Sheriff Frank explained. "Hey, Aunt Sarah, didn't you say that you saw someone watching us back at the bookstore?" Asked Kyle. "That's right! I had completely forgotten!" Sarah exclaimed. "What's that? You saw someone at the bookstore?" Frank asked, intrigued. "Yes…I'm sure I did…" "Alright. Men, be on the lookout for anyone who seems unfamiliar! The attacker may still be in Baker Valley! Alert all other officers and secure the ways in and out of town!" Frank commanded. Frank strutted back to his car. "Now let's get you three over to the clinic. Don't worry. My men or one of Baker Valley's fine citizens will be able to catch this guy." "Are you sure?" Kyle asked. "The people of this town all know each other very well. If one of them sees someone they've never seen before, then we've got our man!" Frank drove the three to the clinic where they found Titus and the others, with the exception of Lucas and the kids in the lobby with Ben.  They rushed over to Ben, who was sitting in one of the chairs, his hand placed over the spot where he had been stabbed. Jessie and their children hugged Ben tightly as Ben hugged them back. "So how are you feeling, Ben?" Sarah asked. "I'm okay…" Ben answered dully. "Hey, dad, do you think someone might have tried to rob you? Like, do you know if anything was stolen?" Asked Jackie. Ben shook his head. "No, nothing was taken from me. I had $35 in my wallet which I had left in my right pocket.  I think it strange that if this was a mugging that this person didn't take my wallet." "Yes…me too…" Titus whispered to himself. He sounded as though he had a faint idea as to who the culprit was. "Well my friends, you have nothing to worry about! My men will be guarding the ways leading in and out of Baker Valley. This bastard doesn't have a chance of escaping!" Frank said, sounding so sure of himself. Titus felt uneasy. If his hunch were correct then allowing Frank and his men to proceed with their investigation would only be putting them in harm's way.  And although he appreciated the dedication and effort his new friend was putting forward into catching the person who attacked Ben, he just wouldn't be able to live with himself if anyone else he cared about got hurt. "Hey, Frank…I want you to call off the investigation." Titus said. "What!!" Frank said shocked. "But…why?!" "Frank, the person who attacked my brother is someone you and your boys won't be able to handle. Please, just trust me on this." Frank was puzzled. He couldn't very well rest knowing that there was a criminal out there. He also found it strange that Titus would ask him to call off the investigation. "Titus…you're not hiding anything, are you?" Asked Frank with suspicion. "And what do you mean by that?" "Well, in all my years as a sheriff, I've never heard anyone ask me to call off an investigation when their loved ones were involved. How can I be sure you're not covering up for the person who attacked your brother?" Titus scoffed in disgust. "Why would I be trying to protect someone who hurt my brother?!" He asked testily. "Look, Titus, relax! I was just making sure, that's all!"  Frank cried, throwing his hands up in front of him. "I'm sorry, Titus but I can't just call off the investigation. You say that whoever attacked your brother left town? Well what if he didn't? What then? We'd be letting a criminal escape from right under our noses! Now if you'll excuse me --" Frank said, tipping his hat to everyone and walking towards the exit. "Frank… you have no idea what you're getting yourself into…" Titus said grimly. "That's never stopped me before. Besides, I have a little one I need to protect.  And I know you do too. I'll see you later." And without so much as another word, Frank left the clinic and headed out into the powerful downpour, leaving Titus and friends to themselves. Eig'nia walked over and stood next to Titus. She looked at Titus, his face wrought with worry. "I know what you're thinking, Doulstraz, and it isn't him. Saulstrance has done many horrible things but he's not dishonorable. He wouldn't –" Titus brushed past the dragoness, seemingly ignoring her words. Everyone feared that he might attempt to go after Saulstrance by himself. Just as Titus placed his hand on the door, Eig'nia called his name with great concern and he froze. Titus knew immediately that she was about to ask him to where he was going. He calmed himself and turned towards his friends with an assuring smile. "It's okay. I'm just going to go back to the motel." He assured. Titus walked out into the rain. Within seconds, his clothes had become drenched and stuck to his body. His hair was also dampened. He ran his fingers through his hair, slicking it back. He then held his hand out in front of him and watched as the raindrops danced on his palm. The sound of the rain made Titus feel relaxed, at peace. It felt like his stress was being washed off with the rain. As Titus walked back to the motel, he pondered over what Eig'nia had said, how she didn't believe that Saulstrance was the one who hurt Ben. This puzzled him. If it wasn't Saulstrance then who else could it possibly be? Ben had never been to Baker Valley prior to this week so it wouldn't make sense for someone from this small desert town to try and harm him. Not only that but the residents of Baker Valley all seemed really friendly. It had to have been Saulstrance. There was no other feasible explanation. Just then, he heard footsteps behind him. He swung around, discovering that the footsteps belonged to Eig'nia. "I just wanted to make sure you didn't do anything stupid." She said. The two dragons walked back to the motel together. The rain continued to fall and it looked as though there would be no end to it anytime soon. At the motel, Drake leaned over the railing. He stared off into space, mesmerized by the rain. Just like his father, the rain helped to put the young boy at ease. Drake was in his own little world. All he heard was the sound of the rain. He was soon snapped out of his trance when he felt something push him from behind. Startled, he turned around, only to find that there was no one there. Drake scratched the back of his head. Perhaps he was just imagining things. "Drake!" Jimmy shouted in Drake's ear. "Aaaah!!" Drake jumped back two feet. Standing before him were Crystal, Sean, Lee, and Jimmy. "What were you doing?" Asked Sean. "Oh, I was just watching the rain… Hey, did one of you push me?" Drake said. The four of them looked at each other and shook their heads in unison. "Oh…Okay." Drake said, sounding uncertain. Sean, Crystal, Jimmy, and Lee all leaned on the railing with Drake. The sound of an ambulance's siren off in the distance immediately attracted the friends' attention. They looked towards the entrance to the town and watched as the ambulance drew closer to town, the blaring from its siren becoming ever louder. It sped past the motel, splashing water onto the edge of the nearby sidewalk and made its way towards the clinic. "What was that about?" Sean asked. "Dunno. I've never seen an ambulance coming into town before." Lee answered. "C'mon! Let's go see what's going on!" Drake exclaimed. The five kids ran in the direction of the ambulance. At the same time, Titus and Eig'nia had just gotten back to the motel. Titus had a look of disbelief on his face, his fists were clenched and his attention turned towards the ground. "Eig'nia…Are you sure you want to go through with this? If you use that spell --" Before Titus could finish his sentence, Eig'nia cut him off. "I've lived a long life, one even longer than that of your parents'. I'm also partially to blame for Saulstrance's wrongdoings. All because I couldn't bring myself to kill him that night. If I can help stop him, then I don't mind sacrificing a portion of my lifespan to do so." Titus smiled warmly at the dragoness. "…I see…" Titus took three steps towards the motel then paused as a thought popped into his head. "Y'know, I wonder if I could get my mom to teach me that spell too." He thought aloud. "Well even if she does, what would you do with it if Saulstrance is gone?" Eig'nia asked. Titus turned towards Eig'nia, smiling. Although he was smiling, his eyes were somber. "If what you said is true and it does shorten its user's lifespan, then maybe I'll be able to use it to achieve my dream." Titus answered. "And what dream is that?" Eig'nia asked, both intrigued and curious. Titus put his head down, still smiling. He was silent for a minute. Then he finally answered… "…To be able to die with my friends and family." Titus' answer hit Eig'nia hard. In all her years, she had never once heard of a dragon who deliberately wished to shorten its life. She realized that, as a dragon, Titus' friends would all eventually die long before he himself did. Even Titus' own son Drake would inevitably pass before him. Then he would be all alone, just like she was. This knowledge pained her heart. She wished that there was some way she could help. "When I was a kid, my parents told me that a dragon can live as long as 300 years. So for a half-dragon, I assume that their life expectancy is about 150 years. So then I would end up outliving my own son. What father wants that? What father wants to see their child pass before he does?" Titus said sadly. Eig'nia frowned. "Even if you do learn the spell, who would you use it on?" "Well if need be, I'll use it on myself." Answered Titus. Titus continued to surprise Eig'nia more and more. However this burst of surprise also came with a bit of anger. She scowled, clenching her fist and then unclenching it. "You would really do that, Doulstraz? You would sacrifice your own powers just for a chance to be able to die with your friends? How can you be so goddamn selfish?" Eig'nia asked angrily, raising her voice. "What?" Titus gasped. "You want me to spell it out for you?! If you give up your powers, then who will your friends and family have to turn to?" Eig'nia inquired. Eig'nia's words shot through Titus' heart like an arrow. He hadn't even thought about that. He looked shocked. He was about to speak but decided against it and instead walked slowly towards the motel. Police tape had been placed at the top and bottom of the stairs where Ben was found so the two dragons took the stairs to their left. Eig'nia knocked on the door closest to the stairways. The door opened and there was Lucas, standing in the doorway. Tim and Adam had been playing together but ceased once they saw that Titus had returned. The two little boys ran up to their hero, cheerfully chanting his name and spontaneously hugged his legs. Titus squatted down and returned their affections with a big hug of his own. "Uncle Titus, is Uncle Ben okay?" Tim asked worriedly. Titus smiled and nodded once. "Yeah. He's going to be just fine." "But…why would someone want to hurt him? He didn't do anything wrong…" Tim said sadly. "Well, Tim, some people just like to hurt others for no reason. They don't care if you did anything bad or not." Titus said, finding it difficult to explain something so complicated to such small children. "Is the person who hurt Uncle Ben gonna try to hurt me next?" Tim panicked. "What about me?! Will he try to hurt me?!" Adam chimed in. "No, no! No one's going to hurt you boys. Not so long as your fathers and I are here." Titus assured. Titus' declaration to protect the two boys helped put them at ease. Titus smiled and sat down, his back resting against the door jamb. His warm, kindly smile suddenly changed to a frown. So many thoughts were swarming around in his head: What Eig'nia said about him being selfish, his upcoming battle with Saulstrance, whether or not he would even be coming back from his battle, and most of all what the future would hold for him after this was all over. "Hey, Mr. Titus, what's wrong?" Asked Adam. Through all of his confusion, Titus still tried to smile. "It's nothing." "Are you scared about tomorrow?" Adam asked again. Titus didn't want to admit it but deep down, he really was scared. This whole time, he was eagerly anticipating this fight, waiting for his chance to finally make Saulstrance pay. Now that the day was finally upon him, he was terrified. He was terrified, knowing that he only had one chance to stop Saulstrance. And what if he didn't stop Saulstrance? What then? His friends and family would eventually be taken away by him and the human realm would become his kingdom. He wondered if he was truly ready for this. Despite these thoughts, he didn't want Tim and Adam to know just how scared he really was. These two little boys greatly looked up to Titus. He wanted them to have something to hope for and he gave them that. "I know you can do it, Uncle Titus!" Tim cheered. "Yeah, you're a good guy! The good guys always win!" Adam added. Their words of encouragement greatly touched Titus. He smiled at them, feeling slightly more hopeful. It was at times like this that he really wished he could have their youthful optimism. Much later that day, the rain had finally passed after a surprisingly long two hour downpour. Within what seemed like the blink of an eye, the ground was completely dry. There was no evidence to suggest that there even was a storm. The dark clouds had vanished from the sky and the sun shone down upon the small town, bathing it in a reddish glow. Titus strolled up the hill next to the motel, hands slipped into his pockets. He had nowhere in particular to be and for the time being there was nothing to do so he chose to stroll around the town for awhile. As he made his way up the hill, much to his surprise he saw Saulstrance standing atop the hill. This made Titus feel uneasy. He asked himself why Saulstrance would be here. Was going to try and attack the town again? Titus shrugged off that possibility, knowing that Saulstrance wouldn't have much luck with only him and his son remaining. He cautiously approached Saulstrance. Saulstrance knew that Titus was behind him but it didn't concern him. He knew that Titus wasn't foolhardy enough to try and fight him now. "What are you doing here?" Titus asked Saulstrance warily. "What? Can't I come and enjoy the sunset?" Saulstrance asked casually, his back remaining turned towards Titus. "You know that's not what I mean!" Titus snapped. "Well if you think that I'm going to try to attack this town, then you've no need to fret. Me and Jakol alone wouldn't be able to take over the entire human realm." "Well that's good news for me." Titus said proudly. Saulstrance brushed Titus' proud boastings off.  Slowly, Titus walked towards Saulstrance. He stood at his side, gazing into the sunset. He looked at Saulstrance who for some reason seemed a little different.  He looked into his foe's eyes. They didn't show the usual hate and anger that Titus had seen from him so many times before. This time his eyes looked rather…sad. Saulstrance looked as if he were longing for something. But whatever it was Titus could only guess. "There's something I've wanted to ask you for awhile." Said Titus. "And what might that be?" Asked Saulstrance. "Do you truly believe you're fulfilling your deceased friend's wish? Is this really what he wanted?" Saulstrance was surprised that Titus knew about that. The only ones who knew about that were him and Eig'nia. He was certain that he knew how Titus found out but he had to be sure. "Where did you hear that from?" Saulstrance asked, sounding uneasy. "Eig'nia told me…before she died." Titus answered, lying in order to protect Eig'nia. It was just as Saulstrance assumed. "So I see…Eig'nia." Saulstrance frowned. He rubbed his fingers against his eyes and slowly moved them over the left side of his face. He couldn't believe it. His last friend was dead. "Doulstraz, how did it feel to kill someone?" Asked Saulstrance without the slightest hint of emotion, as if he had completely forgotten that he was just mourning over his friend. He smiled. "I'd say you're becoming just like me." "N-NO! I'M NOTHING LIKE YOU!!!" Titus screamed with the most horrified expression on his face. "Really? Well isn't it true that you hate me so much that you'd love nothing more than to see me die? And how did your hatred for me start? Because I murdered someone very close to you. I held the very same hatred for the one who killed my friend. And you know what happened? I killed them." Saulstrance said, still smiling horrifically." Titus shook his head, his face continuously contorting with fear. His eyes widened as a tear began to form in his right eye. "Not only that but you even turned your own family into murderers. Your mother killed Rikai and your dear little half-dragon son killed Alex. Jakol, Alex, Eig'nia. They've killed before. Once, Alex even murdered one of Jakol's friends. With that knowledge, tell me how you feel, knowing you singlehandedly turned your little boy into a cold blooded murderer." "SH-SHUT UP!! SHUT THE HELL UP!!!" Titus screamed at the top of his lungs, tears rolling down his face as he collapsed onto his knees. Saulstrance's smile turned once more into a frown. He scoffed at the pitiful sight. There was no way that this poor excuse of a dragon was the very same dragon who defeated his followers. "You earnestly think you can stand a chance against me? In the state you're in? I truly hope that you manage to toughen up before we fight…because tomorrow…one of us will not be returning alive. And even if you do by some stroke of luck kill me, what will you do about Jakol? After all, I'm the only family he has."  Said Saulstrance. Titus gasped and looked up at Saulstrance, his eyes still overflowing with tears. Saulstrance kneeled, getting his face close to Titus as he placed his fingers under Titus' chin and raised his head slightly. "Know this, Doulstraz: our worlds can be cruel and unforgiving. To make a real difference, sometimes you need to fall before you can truly stand up."  Saulstrance whispered to Titus. Saulstrance swiped his hand from under Titus' chin as his head fell lifelessly towards the ground. He laid there, completely motionless, arms at his sides. He appeared as though the life had been completely drained out of him. Saulstrance spun around and was about to walk down the hill behind Titus when the latter attempted to speak. "W-w-wait…" He said in a deafly quiet voice. "What?" "Were…were you the one…who…attacked my brother?"   Saulstrance did not answer Titus' question. However, he did look slightly shocked. He opened up a portal in front of him and without haste, stepped through it. A few seconds later, Titus raised his left hand and looked at it for a short while as it shook rapidly. He asked himself if Saulstrance was right. Was he beginning to turn into the very dragon he hated most? He flashed back to after Drake had killed Alex. He remembered how Rick's legs had been horribly burned and how badly Drake was burning up after having absorbed Alex's fire through his claws. He knew that his friend and son needed his help more than ever yet instead of getting them the help they needed, he had become more preoccupied with revenge. At the moment he saw Saulstrance for the first time in years, all he could think about was killing him for murdering Angela. Tears came full force. He just didn't know what he should do anymore. If he did kill Saulstrance then not only would he be taking a child's only remaining family away but he would just be proving Saulstrance right that he was indeed walking the same path as him. If he allowed Saulstrance to live, he would continue with his conquest of the human realm. Titus recalled Saulstrance's last words to him: "To make a difference, sometimes you need to fall before you can stand up". However, he wasn't sure if he was truly ready to do so. That night, Saulstrance sat on the edge of his bed.  Unbeknownst to him, Jake was watching him from the door crack. He was too busy with a text message that was left on his cell phone. The message read: I'm sorry, Lord Saulstrance. I just wanted to have a little bit of fun. Saulstrance threw the phone onto the bed in annoyance. He held his head in his palms and sighed loudly and with great irritation. "That moron…he always does whatever he wants. If he blows his cover now, then this will have all been for nothing." Saulstrance sighed once more and stood up. He opened up his closet door and then sat back down on the bed. "My friend…I have to apologize. It would seem my suspicions were correct: Eig'nia is gone too.  It's up to me now. It's up to me to see to it that your dearest dream becomes a reality. Tomorrow, Jakol and I will put an end to the dragon that wants to crush our dreams and once I have finished Doulstraz, I'll call upon the other four Apprentices and my Champion to take Theian, Eig'nia, Girido, Alex, and Rikai's places. Just please…wait a little longer." Said Saulstrance. Jake stood up and watched as his father shut the closet door and proceeded to make his way to the door that he was watching from. Jake dashed into his room and leapt onto his bed. There was a momentary bout of silence. That silence was soon broken as the door slowly creaked open, followed by the sounds of Saulstrance's footsteps. Jake got off his bed and watched from the entrance to his room his father standing at the kitchen window, admiring his son's progress. The four tiki torches had all been lit earlier that night. The flames were rather small and shown dimly. "That's my boy." Saulstrance said to himself, nodding contently. Hearing his father complement him at long last brought a big smile to Jake's face. He had never received a complement from his father for anything. For so long one of Jake's biggest goals was to make his father proud of him. To hear him say "Good job, Jakol" or "I'm proud of you". Now that he had made his father happy, he wanted to continue to make him proud and he knew the best way to do so: Help his dad kill Doulstraz and Drake and finally complete their conquest of the human realm. In Baker Valley, Titus and his friends were having dinner together at the town diner. While everyone else was inside, awaiting their food, Titus sat outside by himself. He sighed heavily and leaned on the steps, gazing into the night sky. At that moment, the head of Ben popped into his view.   "Hey, Ben." Titus said. Titus sat upright as Ben took a seat next to him. He was accompanied by Eig'nia who squeezed past the brothers and leaned on the railing. "Are you okay, Titus? You've been acting pretty weird since this afternoon. Did something happen?" Ben asked. Titus was hesitant at first. He wasn't sure if he should inform his friends about his encounter with Saulstrance. That probably wouldn't be too good as he didn't want to put his friends in a state of alarm. "No, it's nothing. Really, it's nothing." Titus said. Ben didn't believe Titus for one second. He knew that his brother was obviously lying through his teeth. "Titus, come on, I know you better than that. Whenever something really bad happens, you always get like this. What's going on?" Asked a concerned Ben. Titus should have guessed that there was no way Ben couldn't have seen through his lies. He always seemed to have a sixth sense for that kind of thing. Neither he, Kyle, nor Jackie were able to get away with much when they were kids thanks to Ben.  Titus figured that there probably wouldn't be much harm in telling them what had happened. He told Ben and Eig'nia about his run in with Saulstrance. Obviously, the two were surprised to hear about this. Titus assured Eig'nia that while he did use her name during their conversation, he had led Saulstrance into believing that she had died in battle and that she should be okay until tomorrow. The dragoness thanked him graciously. "Guys, can I ask you a question?" "Sure, what is it, Titus?" Ben asked. "Do you think I'm becoming like Saulstrance?"   Titus' question stunned both Ben and Eig'nia equally. That was the last thing Ben expected Titus to ask him. "What do you mean?" Eig'nia asked. Titus exhaled through his nose. "Well, you said that Saulstrance became how he is now because someone killed your friend, right? He killed my nest mother and I could just never forgive him for that. He told me that he drove Jake, Alex, and you to kill others in his name. Drake killed Alex and my mom killed Rikai…" "UGH!!" Titus grew increasingly frustrated with himself. He wasn't sure what to do anymore. If he didn't kill Saulstrance tomorrow, then he would for sure kill more innocent people, maybe even his friends. The human realm would belong to Saulstrance and Titus couldn't let that happen. As Titus tried to calm himself down, he tried to think of ways that he could stop Saulstrance yet, at the same time, avoid having to end his life. While he still hated Saulstrance immeasurably, he hated the thought of becoming like him even more so. "Doulstraz, can I say something?" Eig'nia asked, interrupting his thought process. Titus didn't answer. "Don't take this the wrong way but, you really remind me a lot of Saulstrance…or at least the Saulstrance I was friends with. He was a young dragon, who wanted nothing more than to always be with his friends. Just like you loved Angela, Saulstrance loved our friend and greatly looked up to him. He also loved our world immensely…until the day our friend was killed…" Eig'nia explained. "I joined you and your friends because you reminded me of Saulstrance and yet… I also joined because I don't want you to end up like him. You've still got time, Doulstraz. Your future isn't as black and white as you think it is. You still have time to change things." Filled with newfound hope for himself, Titus stood up, thanked his brother and Eig'nia, and headed back into the diner with Eig'nia and Ben following behind him. He immediately began thinking of ways to change not only his future but himself as well…and he knew just where to start. His group had taken up almost half of the diner. It was a rather old fashioned diner of moderate size. Titus' friends were all eating and talking amongst each other when he called out to them in order to get their attention. "Hey, guys! Guys, can I have your attention for a sec?" The chatter slowly began to die down and they all turned to look at him. "What's up, Titus?" Asked Lucas. "If it's okay, I'd like to discuss my plans for tomorrow." Titus explained. "Sure, go ahead." Jessie said. "Alright.  As you know tomorrow, Eig'nia, my mom, Drake, and myself are going to fight Saulstrance and his son.  As for you guys, I'd like for you to remain here in Baker Valley."

New Dragon’s World Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Theian's Decision Pt. 1 Crystal sat on the edge of the back seat, looking down as she cupped her hands together, only looking up to catch a glimpse of Titus and the others walking towards the car. Drake and Sean were sweating in fear of being yelled at by their parents. With a stern look on his face, Titus walked up to his son and asked him, "Drake, would you care to explain to us what Crystal is doing here?" Crystal jumped off the seat and walked in front of Drake, her eyes still focused to the ground. "I'm sorry, Mr. Flamel! It's my fault! I hid in the back of your car before you all left. Please don't blame Drake!" She exclaimed. "Do your parents know where you are at least?" Titus asked. "Well…actually, Mr. Flamel. I told them you were going on vacation and that you said I could go along too…" Titus rubbed his temples in annoyance. He paced back and forth for a short time then abruptly came to a stop. Letting out a hefty sigh, Titus shook his head, raised his arms, then quickly lowered them again. "Well, it's too late to take her back." He said. "Let's find somewhere to rest for the night." Ben suggested.
Titus agreed. Everyone got back in the cars and drove around, searching for a hotel, motel or just anywhere where they could spend the night. While they found neither a decent looking hotel or a motel, they pulled up to a bed n breakfast.  The building appeared rather old, looking as if it had built sometime in the 50's.  It rested on a small hill with a large sign overseeing the building that read, "Ma and Pa's Bed & Rest". "Ma and Pa's?" Kyle thought aloud.  "Couldn't have been a little more creative?" "Nice, Kyle." Jackie replied sarcastically. Titus and Lucas parked their cars as the party got out and walked up to the house. There they were greeted by an eccentric middle aged woman and her two sons. "Hello, there!" The woman greeted with a smile. "Hi." Titus greeted back. "We were wondering if you had any available rooms." "It's $20 a night." She explained. "For all of us?!" Kyle exclaimed. "Well the little ones don't have to pay of course." Drake pointed to himself with a hint of confusion at which Sean and Crystal laughed. The woman showed everyone to their rooms while her sons brought in the luggage. "You know, we usually don't have so many visitors." She said, unlocking the door to Titus and Sarah's room. "There you are. Dinner will be ready shortly." The older of the two sons said, setting their stuff next to the closet. Each of the six rooms was occupied. In the first room, Drake, Sean, Crystal and Tim. The second room saw Lucas and Rick. The third Ben and Jessie. Fourth was Jackie and Kyle. The fifth room had Titus' parents occupying it and the final room was occupied by Titus and Sarah. Crystal jumped around happily. "It's kind of like a sleepover!" She exclaimed. Following Crystal's example, Tim started to jump up and down on his bed excitedly, only to be scolded by Sean.  When at that moment, just as Sean was trying to get Tim to stop, the youngest of the house's owner's sons opened the door to see Tim still jumping. Tim looked over to see the man watching him. He knew right then and there that it was time for him to settle down. He stopped jumping and sat back down on the bed. "Sorry, my little brother got a bit excited." Sean said. "Oh, no, it's okay, don't worry! I just wanted to let you kids know that mom was going to make dinner soon." "Really?! Cool!" Sean exclaimed as his stomach rumbled. Time came and went and soon enough, it was time for dinner. Everyone sat around a long square table which took up nearly all the space in the dining room. There the house owners served them corn with some gravy and mashed potatoes. There was also a plump, juicy turkey seated right in the middle of the table. "Boy." Titus said with anticipation. "With all this food, you could've sworn it was Thanksgiving." "Well we don't usually have this many guests. So we wanted to cook up something really nice for you. We hope you like it." The older brother smiled as he served Drake some mashed potatoes. Everyone got down to eating and for a few minutes, no words were spoken. "So where are you folks headed?" Asked the younger brother. "Well, we're heading to Death Valley. We plan to meet up with some friends of ours there."  Sarah said. "Death Valley?!" The women exclaimed. "Sweetie, if I were you, I would just pack up and go home. Haven't you heard what happened?" "Something happened at Death Valley too?" Ben asked. "No, not at Death Valley. There's a town some ways from here that was attacked a few nights ago. No one knows what happened but the entire town's population just up and disappeared! Not a soul up there now!" "No one?" Drake asked. "No one. No woman, no child. No one." She replied. "But still, we at least need to make sure our friends are alright!" Lucas exclaimed. "Well, if you're hellbent on goin' up there, I won't stop you." After dinner, what one would expect to be a loud, bustling night with that many guests, was instead a night of silence. In the kids' room, Tim tossed and turned in his bed, unable to get to sleep. He was troubled by what the woman had said about the town. He was afraid that maybe the dragons would try and take him away too. He was worried that if that did happen, he would never see his big brother or his dad again. He knew how sad they would be and how sad he would be without their love and protection. Crystal woke up to notice Tim still squirming around, making whining sounds as he shifted back and forth in his bed. So she got up and kneeled down, getting to his eye level. "Are you okay, Tim?" She whispered softly. "Crystal, I'm scared. I don't want those dragons to take me!" He whispered back. The little boy sat up and sniffled. Crystal sat on his bed, placing an arm around Tim's shoulder and bringing him closer to her. "I won't let them take you. And I know Sean and Drake won't either. " She smiled, trying to reassure him. Tim noticed her smile and started to feel calmer. He smiled back at her and then said… "Thanks, Crystal! I kinda wish you were my big sister." Crystal giggled a little. "Well, Tim. Maybe someday I will be. Now c'mon, let's get to sleep." Tim nodded and lay his head back down on the pillow. Crystal got under the sheets and quickly drifted off into slumber. For the rest of the night, everything was peaceful. The next morning, having said their thanks and farewells to the kind woman and her sons who had provided them a place to stay, Titus and the gang were back on the road, making their inevitable way to the small town which the dragons had decimated some time before. Drake sat in the front seat with his dad, tapping his fingers on the car door and staring off into space as he watched the endless scenery go by.  This time, Crystal sat in the back seat with Titus' parents as they likewise watched the passing scenery. "We must be getting closer to that town." Said Titus. After about another hour or so more of driving, they came across what they assumed was the town the bed n breakfast owner and the gas station employee had told them about. Just as they were about to enter the town, Titus' car came to a screeching halt. He stepped out and looked around in horror. It was even worse than they had described it. Buildings were destroyed, some having even been burned to the ground. Everyone got out and looked around. "Oh, my God." Jackie said scared. "This is terrible." Rick said. "Don't look, Tim." Lucas said as he picked up his youngest son. As they looked around a little more, Drake noticed someone, lying on the ground face down. He ran over to make sure he was alright. He moved the man on his back and shook him to try and wake him up. "Hey, mister! Mister, are you okay?!" Drake asked. Titus walked over to his son who was still attempting to wake him up. "Drake, stop!" Titus commanded. Titus pointed to the man's stomach, where a huge hole had been left. Dried blood had run from the wound, covering part of his shirt and pants. "It's too late, Drake. He's gone…" Titus said in a mournful tone. Still looking at the wound, Titus rubbed his fingers against the blood which was now brown and flaking. "The blood's dried. This didn't just happen. He's been dead for quite awhile." Titus explained. "Uncle Titus! Come here!" Exclaimed Jackie. "Titus…those aren't…" Sarah said horrified, unable to finish her sentence. She was pointing to three badly burned bodies. The burns had made it difficult to determine just who the people once were. Hair had been burned off, skin completely charred, some even missing. All that remained were the eyes of the deceased which still held a feel of unspeakable terror in them. "Oh, God…" Jackie said equally as terrified as Sarah. Kyle hunched over and started to throw up. Drake, Sean and Crystal were petrified. As badly as they wanted to scream, they couldn't. They looked on in fear, wanting nothing more than to leave this place as soon as possible. "We should at least bury them before we leave." Lucas said. Titus agreed. "First, let's look around. Someone should still be here." The gang split up into groups and searched the entire town. Drake and his friends went one way, Titus, Rick and Sarah going another way. Lucas went with Ben and Jessie while Jackie and Kyle went together, leaving Titus' parents to check around. They called out for anyone who may have still remained, only to be given no answer. Titus noticed a small bar with the door still open. He ran up and looked inside, seeing if there was anyone around. As he stepped in, he heard a crunching sound beneath his feet. He looked down, noticing the shards of glass that covered the floor. Trying to pay no mind to it, he continued in, as with each step he took, more and more crunches followed. He called out once more. Still no answer. He looked over the bar counter, hoping someone may have been hiding underneath. Nothing more than more broken beer bottles. Meanwhile, Drake, Crystal, Sean, and Tim walked down what would normally be a bustling little neighborhood. They called out, not receiving an answer either. "Okay this is scaring me." Sean said. "Me too…" Tim agreed, clinging to Sean. As they continued down the neighborhood, eventually getting to another street, they were greeted with the sound of a blaring car horn. Thinking it was someone beeping for help, they ran to find the source of the sound, only to come across a badly damaged car with the top missing. Tim put his hands over his ears to try and drown out the sound. Drake and Crystal looked around, taking note of all the destroyed houses, some of them having even been burned to the ground. They felt bad for the people who lived in those houses. Even if they were to find them, where would those people have to go? They didn't have homes anymore. "Let's keep going." Sean said. Ben, Jessie, and Lucas walked past a grade school. Figuring there may have been at least someone in the school, they decided to check it out. They noticed that some of the doors had been torn off. Walking through the hallways, they called out, hoping to receive an answer. Nothing. So they continued through the halls, calling out to anyone who may have remained. Still they received no answer. They then realized they would have no such luck. Still they figured it would be best to continue to look around. As they looked, Lucas looked at all the drawings the kids had done. Some of the drawings were of the kids with their families, others were of what the kids wanted to be when they were older. One such picture caught his eye. In the picture, a little boy was standing outside his house, with his parents and what appeared to be his older brother beside him. Lucas looked at the bottom of the picture, reading aloud the name written on it: "Tim…" He said as a tear ran down his face. Without saying another word, Lucas let go of the picture, tears running down his face. He walked past Ben and Jessie, his head hung to the ground so that they wouldn't see him crying… After having scouted the entire town, everyone met back up. Lucas walked up to his sons and gave them both a big hug. "Dad?" Sean asked, confused and slightly embarrassed. "Sean, Tim, your father loves you both very much." He said in a strained voice. "We love you, too, dad! Are you okay?" Tim asked worriedly. Lucas sniffled, then said, "Yeah. Don't worry." Titus sighed. "Well…" He said, trying to think of something to say. "We've done what we can…Let's bury these people now…" Everyone agreed. Titus and his parents turned into their dragon forms and used their tails to dig four holes next to the town hall. "Drake, you and your friends don't have to do this. Go and wait in the car, okay?" Titus said. "It's okay, dad, I'll help." He said. After having dug four holes big enough to fit a person into, Drake and the others brought the charred corpses and the body of the man who had been impaled through the stomach over, placing them in each of the holes. The dragons then used their tails to push the dirt over the holes, filling them up. With the job done, they turned back to their human forms and took ten steps back to get one final look at the graves they had dug. The graves were dug right under a tall tree with beautiful red leaves. Titus was surprised. Fall hadn't come yet and it already appeared that the leaves had changed color. Just as he continued to watch the leaves, he heard a flapping sound. He looked higher into the sky, noticing a large shadow over them. It was too bright to make out just what it was but it started to grow bigger, lowering itself until it reached the ground. "Theian!" Titus exclaimed. Theian looked over at Titus with a small hint of surprise. "So, Doulstraz, you're alright. I was worried you died back there." "Theian!... You did this, didn't you?!" Titus growled angrily. "…Yes." Theian said without any hint of emotion in his voice. Titus' anger began to swell. "WHY?!" He shouted. "What did those people ever do to you?!" "It isn't about 'what they did to me'. It's about Saulstrance looking to complete his plan." Theian explained. "This goes beyond just 'collecting humans', doesn't it? What does Saulstrance really want, Theian?" Titus' dad asked. Theian looked at the group with his usual, stern look. He didn't know what good would come out of telling them but he knew that if his mom were in his position, she would probably tell them anyway. "Saulstrance plans to turn this world into his kingdom. To do that, he is using us to help him capture humans." "How many towns and cities have you conquered already?" Asked Jackie. "So far this is our only one. Although right now the others are probably attacking another small town as we speak." Theian explained. "YOU!!" Titus exclaimed, ready to fight Theian once more. "What good do you think fighting me will bring? It won't bring back this town and it won't bring back those humans who died." Titus continued to growl. Deep down, he knew Theian was right. But still though, he couldn't help but be angry at him. He tried to calm himself down. "Why are you helping us?" Titus asked in a calmer tone. "Because I don't particularly agree with his goals. I heard you tell Girido once that Angela…that my mother never hated humans. So I figured that if she were still alive…and saw me like this…that she would probably never want to speak to me again…" Theian said in a slight melancholy tone. "Theian…" "Don't get me wrong!" He said. "I don't plan to become your friend. But I'm not going to let Saulstrance continue this stupid plan of his. Not if it makes my mother - -" "Just stop it!" Titus shouted. "You keep saying, 'mother this and mother that'! You're just making excuses for yourself!" "What the hell would you know?!" Theian exclaimed in a furious tone. "You think you're the only one that misses her?! She died right in front of me when I was just a kid!! I've never been able to forget that no matter how badly I wanted to! At first I wanted to fight Saulstrance just for revenge. But this isn't just about revenge anymore. I want to fight him because I love this world. The world that Angela also grew to love." Theian growled under his breath. "I'm glad I ended up in this world. If I hadn't, I would never have become Ben's brother, or Jackie and Kyle's uncle. I would never have become friends with Luke, or met Sarah. And Drake would have never been born. That's why I want to protect them and this world!"  Titus exclaimed. Without another word, Theian turned his back to the group and unfurled his wings, about to take off. But just then, he was stopped by Titus, who reached into his pocket, pulling out the single scale left behind by Angela. "Theian…you should have this…" Titus said sadly, holding the scale out in front of him. "What is that?" he asked. "Angela's scale. The only one she left behind…" Titus said as a tear ran down his face. "Titus!" Sarah gasped. "It's okay…It is from his mom anyway…Theian's the one who should really have it…" Titus said in a strained voice. "PUT THAT AWAY!!" Theian shouted. "What?" Titus asked confused. "I don't need you feeling bad for me! You put that thing away before I kill you!" He shouted once more. "Hey, Titus was trying to be nice to you! You don't have to be such a dick!" Lucas exclaimed. "Listen to me. Tomorrow, one of three things will happen: First, I may decide to leave Saulstrance's group and join with you.  But I also might not join you and may decide to fight Saulstrance myself." Theian explained. "So what's the third possibility?" Asked Sarah. "Third possibility is…" Theian started to say.

It’s a Dragon’s World Epilogue
Hi, everyone. Titus Flamel here, also known as Doulstraz. Thanks for reading the story. However you're probably wondering what's happened to everyone afterwards. Well lemme tell you:
Jackie started 3rd Grade. Kyle started his first day of Kindergarten.
As it turns out, Lucas actually was coming to live in California. His parents went to their relatives to see about buying a house in Cali. Lucas and I are going to the same school. Same with Sarah.
Speaking about Sarah, she's now tending Angela's old shop. From what I've heard, she's still sleeping in the cave the three of us lived in for that short time.
Ben and Jessie are still the same. I'm still staying with them of course.
As for me, I set up a little grave for Angela outside the house in the backyard. I stayed with my real parents for a while while I was in the Dragon Realm, learning to control switching between my human and dragon forms.
That's the end of our story. Thanks for reading!

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 4
Pt. 4 Titus Shrinks I saw Jackie and Kyle run upstairs. It seemed like they got some new toys. "Hey, Titus, we're home." Ben said. "Welcome back." I replied. Jessie and Ben brought in some groceries. I figured that must have been why they took so long. "So where'd you guys go?" I asked. "We had to get some food, then Jackie and Kyle wanted to get some toys so I figured we'd go to Walmart for some food." Jessie explained. "Y'guys shoulda let me know first." "Well we figured you'd be to busy getting reacquainted with Lucas so we didn't let you know." I grumbled a little under my breath. "Oh, yeah. Titus, this is for you." Ben handed me a piece of paper. "Where did you get this?" I asked. "Some person gave it to us. They said to give it to Titus Flamel and to not read it."
I figured I'd open it after dinner. Dinner time came and I was feeling a bit tired. Everyone sat around the dinner table, eating mashed potatoes, with some gravy and some other food. "Hey, Uncle Titus, aren't you hungry?" Jackie asked. "Hmm? Actually, no I'm not." "That's strange. Knowing Titus, he'd probably be eating more than us." Lucas joked. "Are you okay?" Jessie asked. "Yeah. If it's okay with you guys, I'm just gonna rest my eyes. If I fall asleep, will you just let me sleep down here?" "Yeah. That's okay." Ben said. I closed my eyes and soon enough, I was fast asleep. I woke up a few hours later. I yawned a little. All the lights were off and the table was clear. I decided since I was up, I'd see what was written on that paper. I opened it up and read it to myself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Titus, I hope you are doing well. How do you like the present I gave you? You're probably still wondering what's happening to your body. Meet me at the store where you bought your plush toy and I'll explain everything. Angela Dragonwings --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I got off the couch and stood up. It was strange. I was almost the same size as the coffee table. I was just a head taller. I figured I was probably still tired and walked upstairs. It was kinda hard to walk up the stairs. What's going on? I thought to myself. Am I still dreaming? I got in the bathroom and when I tried to look in the mirror, I couldn't see myself. Heck, I couldn't even see the mirror. I grabbed the stool my little nephew and niece use and stood up on it. When I looked in the mirror, I didn't see myself at all. In place of my reflection was a little kid. I was getting worried now. Was my mind playing tricks on me? There was only one way to figure out. I looked over myself again. I was only 4'8! It seemed my tail was still there, but it seemed to have shrunk along with me. I was scared. I didn't know what I was supposed to do. My old clothes didn't fit me, and I couldn't go out naked. I figured all I could do was see if my nephew, Kyle had some clothes that would fit. I opened the door to the kids' room quietly. I walked slowly as to not wake them up. I remembered Ben bought some clothes for Kyle this year that didn't fit him. They were too big. I rummaged through Kyle's clothes and found them. I put on his jersey, with the number 8 on the front. And I put on a pair of short legged blue jeans. Before getting them completely on, I realized my tail would need a lot of room this time. I went back into the bathroom, took the jeans off and made a tailhole large enough to fit my tail through. I walked quietly downstairs, trying not to wake anyone up. I had to stand on my tiptoes just to reach the doorknob. It took a while but eventually I got it. I quietly closed the door again and ran for the toy store. I hoped no one would see my tail. I'd be screwed if they did. As I ran, I tripped and landed flat on my face. Oww! I realized that I really DID shrink after all. I  got up and continued to run. I only had a few hours to make it to the toy store before Ben and the others woke up. Two hours later, I made it to the toy store. Yet there was no one around. I leaned on the door of the toy store. The door opened and I fell backwards, landing directly on my tail. "Can I help you, little boy?" The woman from the other day asked. "First off I'm NOT a little boy! I'm 13! Second I'm waiting for someone." "You're not a little boy, huh? You sure don't look 13. You look more like you're eight or seven." "Well I'm not!" I shouted angerly. "Something happened to me and my body shrunk!" The woman rubbed my head and smiled. "You kids and your stories. They're so cute!" I looked down. I was so embarrassed. No one would be able to take me seriously. To them, I'm just a thirteen year old kid, with a tail, in an eight year old's body. Although they wouldn't see the thirteen year old me. Just an eight year old kid who's got a lizard-like tail. The old woman gasped as she saw my tail wagging back and forth. "That tail..." She gasped. "Are you...Titus Flamel?" "Yeah. I am. But how do you know who I am?" I asked. "Yes. I thought I'd meet you soon. But not like this." "Alright, ENOUGH!" I demanded. "Who are you? How do you know me?" "I guess I SHOULD introduce myself. My name is... Angela Dragonwings." "WHAT??" I thought in my head. THIS woman was the one whose name appeared in those letters. I couldn't believe it. What was going on here???

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 1
Part 1. A Beautiful Transformation The sky was very dark as I made my way to my brother's house. I was told that it hardly ever rains in California but this rain was cold, yet sad at the same time. Like how I felt. To me, it was like a signal of things to come. My name is Titus Flamel. I'm a thirteen year old boy. My parents went missing less than a month ago. My grandparents were dead and my dad's mom was poor and unable to care for me. My brother and his wife were the only family I had left. I sighed a little and knocked at the door. The doorknob turned as my brother smiled at me and welcomed me into his house. I put my suitcase full of all my stuff on the ground, figuring I'd just remove everything later. I went upstairs and walked into my nephew and niece's room. "UNCLE TITUS!" they shouted with happiness in their voices as they ran to give me a hug. "Ahh, it's good to see you, Titus."  Said my sister-in-law, Jessie. "Hi, Sis." I smiled at her. I walked downstairs with Kyle and Jackie(my nephew and niece) following close behind me. I sat down on the couch and looked outside. Part of me was happy that I'd be able to live with my brother. As a child, I grew up alone since he was so much older than me. Yet another part of me was sad, because I knew I'd never be able to see my friends again. "Titus, are you okay?" My brother asked. I didn't respond. My mind was too focused on something else. "We should let Titus be by himself for now." Jessie said. "Good idea. Kyle, Jackie, it's time to get your pajamas on." My brother, Ben said. "But we want to play with Uncle Titus!" The siblings whined in protest. "You can play with him tomorrow. Just let him be for now. Now off to bed."
When everyone left, I looked over to a table with pictures on it. I walked over to it. The pictures were of my brother and Jessie getting married and of my brother's kids. But there was also a third one. I grabbed it to get a look at it. My eyes widened at what I saw: It was a picture of me, a four year old me, and my brother at nineteen. In the picture, I was holding my old dragon plushie, which at that time, I had affectionately named "Flame" in both my arms. My brother was petting my head affectionately in this picture. I kneeled on the ground and started to remember my childhood. Growing up as the only child living in the household, your friends usually being too busy. Yet, it seemed like a better time. Tears started to fill my eyes. Why was all this happening to me? Losing my parents, losing my friends, my home. What had I done? My brother and sister-in-law watched from around the corner. "Poor kid." Jessie said. "Yeah. We should do something nice for him." Ben said. "I got it! we'll take him out to see what it's like here." "Do you really think he'll feel better?" Jessie asked. "It's worth a try. He doesn't deserve what's happened to him. The least we can do is try to make everything better for him." Ben said. Ben and Jessie went back upstairs. I fell to the ground and cried. I pounded my fists as I cried. I began to feel drowsy from all this and slowly cried myself to sleep. The next morning I woke up. everyone  was standing around me. "What are you doing on the ground, Uncle?" Kyle asked. "Well...uh...." I stammered. "Yeah, why ARE you on the ground?" Jackie asked. "Well, let's have breakfast. We got an exciting day ahead." Ben said with a wide grin on his face. "Like what?" I asked. "We're going to show you what a nice place California is." Ben and Jessie said at once. I finished my breakfast and got some cleaner clothes on. After cleaning up, I was ready to go. As soon as we hopped in the car, we drove off for the shopping center. "We're going to go look at some stuff. Titus, why don't we split up for now?" Ben suggested. "Okay. I think I'll go to that store." I pointed to a store that had toys and games and stuff like that in it. "Okay. We'll meet you in an hour. Sound good?" Asked Jessie. "Yeah, that's fine with me." And wit that, I walked into the store. I noticed they had some plushies. I was curious as to what kinds they had. I headed straight for the plushies and looked around. I was shocked to see that they had a green dragon plushie. It looked exactly like Flame. I felt a tear run down my eye. I remembered when I was little, how I would go play in the backyard with my arms hugged around Flame's neck. I would pretend that I was in a world where only dragons lived, and I was a dragon myself. I pretended to breathe fire and I pretended I had a tail and that I could fly. I smiled. It was comforting to think about those memories. "Can I help you, young man?" Asked the store clerk. "Yeah, how much for this plushie?" I pointed to the green dragon. "Oh, that one? It's not very rare so, umm.... eight dollars?" I rummaged through my pockets and pulled out ten dollars. I handed it to the clerk who rang up the dragon and handed me my change. "Thank you." I said as I walked out the door. "...That boy has gone through so much pain." The clerk whispered to herself. "I hope I can help him." I held up the dragon plushie. Its tail fell behind it. Something fell from the tail. I picked it up and threw it in the bag, thinking it was the recipt. "Hey! Titus!" Ben shouted out to me. "Hey, Ben! Look what I got!" I held the dragon plushie in my arms. I ran for my brother, Jessie, and their kids as I held the dragon in my arms, just like I did with Flame. Little did I know about what was going to happen next.

A Beautiful Transformation 1
I sat up front with my brother, silent as we drove to his house. I stared out the window and watched the passing scenery, trying to get used to what would be my new home for awhile.
The sky above us was a very dark gray. Rain fell from the sky, the wind driving the rain as it drummed on the car windows. From what Ben told me, it never really rained that much in California.
My name is Titus Flamel. I’m thirteen years old. Less than a month ago, my parents went missing. Since then, no one has heard from them.
