Hi, I just recently got back into DragonFable and saw your post where you welcomed people coming back to the game to ask you questions about story elements we've forgotten. I've caught up with all the quests and replayed a few arcs (Sulen'Eska, the First Weaver) and I remember most of the plot, but I can't for the life of me remember what happened during (1) the Vilmor arc, (3) the Theano arc and was wondering if you know of any summaries of those arcs that I could read. The most recent quests (especially retaking Dragesvard and Convergence) have made me feel like those plot points are going to be relevant again soon. Thanks so much!
Hmmm, I don't quite know where to find summaries, but I can try to briefly summarize the two
Vilmor arc : Vilmor is presented as this evil dragonlord who betrayed her companion dragon, who happened to be the prime elemental dragon of ice, Cryozen, leading to her being imprisoned by the Dragonlords. After some frozen storms, Vilmor escapes and the hero tries to chase her down, only to be no match against her in a direct confrontation. Trying to uncover more of Vilmor's backstory, we go to a city supposedly destroyed by her and meet Circe (yes, that Circe, the same one working for Victoria), who claims to be a survivor of the city and to have witnessed Vilmor's attack.
Cut forward a bit, turns out Vilmor never actually betrayed her dragon and was instead framed by her childhood friend, Dragonmaster Frostscythe, who also hired Circe to lead us astray. Circe betrays Frostscythe because he didn't want to pay her, Frostscythe tries to break Cryozen to his control, eventually leading to its death and Vilmor is finally proven as innocent, left with the egg of her once partner dragon, who will hatch into Cryozen Jr.
A brief conversation in Book 3 Dragonsgrasp reveals that even if she was proven innocent, she didn't feel comfortable alongside the other dragonlords after how they viewed her, which is why she's not present with them then
Theano arc :
Theano is the leader of the Thorns, some more openly evil subset of the Rose who are more willing to commit atrocities than Jaania. They keep it under wraps to avoid her learning, although Akanthus seems aware of their existence and just doesn't care. The Hero is accompanied by Belle, a soulweaver spy of the Vind, who infiltrated the Rose, alongside her soulally Vitael.
Theano at firsts awakens a bunch of mana-draining machines, who, in a later quest, try to drain Belle, but seem unable to fully drain her, instead overloading on mana.
This leads the Hero to go talk to Warlic about her, who discovers that she lacks a "filter" to the Mana Core, meaning she's basically able to draw as much mana from it as she wants, though she has to be careful as drawing too much at once would be deadly to her. She discovers she'd be able to literally weave the world around her with that power.
Meanwhile, Theano seems to be attempting to cast some ancient spell, gathering a shard of the Ultimate Orb from Book 1's finale and a spellscroll, all revealed to be a spell of resurrection.
We eventually learn more of Theano's backstory through a flashback. He was someone from Azaveyr who enlisted the help of a mercenary named Sobieslav (commonly theorized to be Akanthus's real identity due to him also being a green eyed criminal from Azaveyr) to steal an Ignominious, using its mana infused blood to save his pregnant wife. Unfortunately, it was supposedly unsuccessful, and he burned down his house with her in it to escape the guards who were pursuing him for his crime, although they found something (or rather, someone) within the ruins.
Back in the present, Theano is revealed to want to resurrect his dead son to use as a weapon, so off we go to stop him. In the confrontation with him, it's revealed first that Belle was his "son", adopted by Tomix's father, who he just never realized would be a daughter because he was a misogynistic jerk, and second off, that the spell actually was just Death messing around, and that instead it will inflict its user with the ever lingering image of Death, reminding them of the inevitability of their own death.
Theano is eventually defeated by Belle calling upon her newly explored manaweaving ability to literally remove Theano's arms, although doing so corrupts Vitael and leaves her unconscious, hair bleached white (she'll eventually ask warlic to form an artificial filter because she believes no one should have as much power as she used that day)
Eventually, Theano is sent to Jaania, where she apologises for the crimes he committed in the Rose's name and punishes him by removing all of his senses, leaving him trapped in a black void of his mind with nothing but the cursed image of Death keeping him company.
Belle eventually moves to Ravenloss, where she'll meet Khvorost from the main story

Laff-It-Off is back with a vengeance. Revered for its satirical approach to topical issues, the 2023 offering is laced with the elements which give the show its winning formula. With the recent election, there was no shortage of political material for the writers of this season. The long running show has been a staple on the entertainment calendar. Officially launched on January 21st, this season is slated to run for just six shows and tickets have been moving quickly. The production has loyal fans who have been longing for the return and the shows have been sold out at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford venue since opening night. Usually known for prompt starts, the most recent edition suffered a slight delay. At 8 p.m., a long line snaked to the entrance. That was quickly resolved, and patrons nestled in for a fantastic night of comedy. It was a much-welcomed return to the famed Nook and Cranny Bar. The cast members for this year’s production are Janine White, Ishiaka McNeil, Kyle Cozier, Asha Elcock and Vilmore Johnson. Johnson is making his return to this stage after a more than decade-long break. As always, a no holds barred approach is adopted, and no topic was off limits. Heavy with political content, the material in Laff-It-Off: Whey You Get That From? was hard-hitting and did not spare local politicians. Tough Choices examined the selection process of who should be selected to deliver the news about the Independence Day name change. Another gem was Election Reflection. Neither party was exempt, and the DLP got a taste with George Street Blues and Ronnie Visits Barrow. Each cast member had their moment. McNeil’s experience on stage ensures that he always delivers an impactful performance. However, the star of the night was Janine White, delivering stand out performances every time. The actress is effortless in her delivery and her comedic timing is on point. Her natural style of discourse ensures that you consistently zone in on her. She commanded attention every time she graced the stage. One of the standout moments was her portrayal of Elizabeth Thompson. White was hilarious, and the audience was doubled over in stitches by the time she was done. 👇🏾 https://www.instagram.com/p/CoaDLgaLkLKjcmv15jFCd352osxuoSTXneIbwU0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Alright, you asked. This is it. The entire DragonFable timeline, complete with every single holiday event (at least the ones that have some story to them. If the event was literally just Big Daddy sending us a “stay away” letter or Valencia asking us to look for this single clover, I didn’t count it).
Book 1
Year 1
* A Hero is Born Bored
* Oaklore
* Falconreach
* Undead Assault
* Sepulchure’s Flying Fortress
* Ice Dragon War
* Frostval Chapter 1: A Frostvale Tale
(Frostval did not exist as a holiday in-universe until this event, as it was created by the Frost Moglins to celebrate you saving them. As this is the first canonical appearance of King Alteon, it had to be before Wrath of Xan. Therefore, I have assumed that the celebration of Frostval does not literally take place on the anniversary of the initial event, but was instead decided to be celebrated at the close of the year)
* Dragon Egg Saga
* Robina
* Wrath of Xan
* Valencia
* Arachnattack
* The Hatching
* Willowshire Burns & Haunted House

(This event actually doesn’t need the Hero to be around to happen as it did, and at the end it shows both Book 1 and Book 3 art for different characters, so in the space while the Hero was frozen was the only time that really made sense)
Book 3

Episode Reviews - Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 6 (5 of 6)
Moving on with the episode reviews for Star Trek: The Next Generation, I present a fifth instalment from the show’s sixth season, beginning with the episode that finally gave some in-continuity reasoning for Trek’s alien races being almost all humanoid…
Episode 20: The Chase
Plot (as given by me):
Captain Picard is visited by his former archaeology teacher Professor Galen, who has recently made a ‘profound discovery’. However, he will only share information on this with his former pupil if Picard agrees to join him on an expedition that could last anything up to a year. Picard is tempted, but ultimately chooses his duty to command the Enterprise over his desire to join Galen, much to the Professor’s anger and disappointment. Rather than wait aboard the Enterprise, Galen opts to leave in his shuttle. Later, the shuttle comes under attack from the Yridians. The Enterprise manages to reach the shuttle in time to stop the Yridians attacking by accidentally destroying their vessel, but Galen has been fatally wounded, and apologises to Picard for being so harsh about his rejection before dying.
 Determined not to let his mentor’s death be in vain, Picard orders the Enterprise to go off-mission, ignoring their assigned task of mediating a conference on Altalia VII to find out why Galen was killed. A series of number blocks found in the computer of the professor’s shuttle are ultimately revealed to be mathematical representations of certain DNA fragments. The fragments have been found on planets across the quadrant from multiple species, and are revealed to be pieces of some kind of algorithm. As the investigation continues, the Enterprise finds others are pursuing the same genetic puzzle, as they encounter Cardassian and Klingon ships in orbit of a planet Galen had visited prior to his visit to Picard.
 Picard convinces the Klingon and Cardassian officers to combine their efforts with his, as they all have pieces of the puzzle. They agree, and the Enterprise crew is able to extrapolate where to find the final piece of the puzzle. When the location is learned, Gul Ocett of the Cardassians attempts to double-cross the others and attacks the Federation and Klingon ships. Luckily, Lt. Commander La Forge discovered Ocett’s attempt to sabotage the Enterprise’s systems beforehand, and their damage from the attack is faked along with the co-ordinates Ocett took. The Enterprise proceeds to the real location, the Klingon captain Nu’Daq accompanying them as a guest since his own craft failed to be prepared for the Cardassian betrayal.
 The Enterprise travels to Vilmor II, where the final DNA sequence is to be found in a partially fossilised seabed. Picard beams down with Dr Crusher, Lt Worf and Nu’Daq, where they are then joined by not only the Cardassians, but also a group of Romulans that had been shadowing the Enterprise under cloak since the attack on Galen’s shuttle. While Worf and Nu’Daq engage in the stand-off with the other two factions, Picard and Crusher scan the final genetic fragment to complete the algorithm. Their tricorder then runs a holographic message formed from the completed program; an alien from a humanoid race explains that they seeded many worlds across the galaxy with elements of their genetic coding. As a result, all humanoid life is effectively linked by a shared ancestry, but when the hologram ends, both the Cardassians and Nu’Daq are disgusted by the idea they have a common ancestry and refuse to believe what they’ve been told.
 On board the Enterprise, Picard laments to Dr Crusher that the message Galen had sought did not find a receptive audience, but later he is contacted by the Romulan commander, who implies that not all ears who heard the message were deaf after all.
Review:
This is about our third Picard episode on the trot, so for me that spoils it somewhat because the show isn’t mixing things up enough in terms of alternating which characters are getting episodes focused on them.  That said, it’s only Picard’s episode until his mentor dies and the crew learns what Galen was looking for.  After that, the episode goes from character piece to plot-driven mystery, and then when the solution is revealed, we get a little bit of issue exploration, as we find out that the humanoid races of Trek are all linked.  The different reactions we get to this is not unlike getting together people from different national and racial backgrounds, pointing that they all have a common ancestry, and having them all call you mad while one privately lets you know they agree with you.
 The problem, however, is that because the episode changes what it is so much, it ends up spoiling itself.  It should have committed itself to one thing; the character piece (in which case Galen should have spent longer on screen and the Enterprise should have had helping him as its mission), the plot-driven mystery (in which case we should have got to that sooner and had less or no Picard-centric plot) or the issue exploration (for that to work, we should have seen the hologram early on and spent the episode wrestling with what having a common ancestry would mean for all these different species).  Instead, it’s a total mangle that only just about works.
 Also, according to Memory Alpha, producer Rick Berman wasn’t wild about the episode’s concept of a humanoid race pre-dating our own, but then again that’s no surprise; much of what I’ve read on the Trek wiki suggests Berman was a mainstream TV producer with little to no understanding of what Trek is.  To my mind, this isn’t an issue at all.  If anything, I think it’s cool to have sci-fi come up with the idea that maybe the odd alien race or two pre-dates our own.  As a species we’ve often taken a very ego-centric view of ourselves and our place within existence, and if we’re not willing to entertain the idea that intelligent alien life doesn’t have to be largely humanoid, I think we should be willing to accept that we’re not the first humanoid form of life in the universe. If we can’t do that, how can we ever hope to even approach a Trek-like utopian future one day?
 So, in summation this is a decent episode, but it suffers from trying to be more than it needs to be.  As such, I’m only inclined to give it 7 out of 10.
Episode 21: Frame of Mind:
Plot (as given by me):
Commander Riker rehearses for a theatre play called “Frame of Mind”, in which he plays a man who is locked up in a psychiatric hospital, told he is insane and tortured under the guise of being ‘treated’. At the same time, he is preparing for an undercover away mission to Tilonus IV; a Federation science team on the planet had been on the planet during the collapse of the planetary government, and Commander Riker will have to go down posing as a merchant to make contact with them. During preparation for the mission, Riker is accidentally wounded on the side of his face by Lt. Worf. Riker has the wound healed by Dr Crusher, but thinks it still hurts. Regardless, he proceeds to perform in the play before the mission, but during the audience applause, Riker suddenly finds himself in a hospital for the mentally ill that looks just like the stage set.
 Riker begins to slip back and forth between being in the hospital and on board the Enterprise, and due to images from the hospital imposing themselves on the other reality but not vice versa, he begins to believe he really is a mentally ill patient. Eventually, Riker begins rejecting the idea that the Enterprise was ever real, going so far as to try and resist rescue by Worf and Lt. Commander Data. Back on the Enterprise, Dr Crusher heals a wound on Riker’s head in the same position where Worf cut him earlier. When the wound instantly reappears, Riker knows he is in an illusion, and turns a phaser on himself to end the illusion.
 Riker then finds himself back in a hospital room, but still holding the phaser, suggesting he hasn’t yet come back to reality.  A wide-beam shot with the phaser at high power turns the hospital room into the stage set on the Enterprise, and pounding on the set finally shatters the last illusion. Riker awakens on an examination table on Tilonus IV, a probe inserted into the point on his head that was apparently wounded in his illusions. Fighting his way to the concealed communicator Worf gave him, Riker requests an emergency beam-out. Back on the Enterprise, Dr Crusher repairs the damage to Riker’s long-term memory, and Captain Picard explains how Riker was abducted by one of the factions on the planet in hopes of gaining strategic information. However, Riker’s mind created a defence for him by combining his play performance with what was going on. Riker is urged to rest, but instead goes to take down the stage set for his own peace of mind first.
Review:
This episode is better than some that try to challenge the ‘reality’ of a show too late into its run; normally, I think if a TV show isn’t going to do that from the start and all the way through, it should never even try.  Every show has its own reality, whatever that may be, and once it is established it can never be altered, nor should it be.  However, this episode isn’t about altering reality but about wreaking havoc on one character’s perception, and perception is not the same as reality at all. Reality is finite and dictated by scientific laws and truths that cannot be affected by anyone, whereas perception is far less certain and more prone to be deceived.
 However, the episode wastes the effort by failing to address any real mental health issues or explore Riker’s character through the mania he is exposed to.  Really, it’s just a plot-driven mystery as we just wait for him to wake up to reality and work out when his altered perceptions took over from reality.  In its way that’s a cool concept, but frankly not enough to make this a truly decent Trek episode.  Not surprising, considering this episode was written in a late-season crunch from a very bare bones concept, so I think that rush to create an ok story prevented the writers from making this into true Trek.  End score for this, a mere 6 out of 10.
Episode 22: Suspicions
Plot (as adapted from Wikipedia):
Guinan visits Dr Beverly Crusher in her quarters, complaining of "tennis elbow". Dr Crusher breaks the news that she is no longer a doctor on the Enterprise and will be facing a court martial. She tells Guinan the whole story.
 A Ferengi scientist, Dr Reyga, had created a metaphasic shielding technique, but species profiling and his unorthodox methods had left most scientists in the field ignoring his work. Dr Crusher decided to play the role of a "scientific diplomat" and invite other scientists versed in the field to come to the Enterprise and view a demonstration of the doctor's prototype. As they were all sceptical, they decided that someone other than the Ferengi should pilot the shuttle outfitted with the shielding. Jo'Bril, a Takaran, volunteered.
 At the test flight, they all watched from the bridge as Jo'Bril entered the star. Everything seemed to be going as planned until suddenly Jo'Bril became short of breath, and barely piloted the shuttle out of the star before dying. Everyone considered Reyga a failure, but he couldn’t accept that something went wrong. No one could find any trouble with the shuttlecraft, and Dr Crusher couldn’t determine the cause of Jo'Bril's death. In fact, she couldn’t understand his physiology at all, especially why his cells seemed to be decaying at such a slow rate. However, he was judged dead. Reyga pleaded with the other scientists to allow him a second test. Dr Crusher reluctantly refused, but he seemed determined to prove himself. A few hours later, he was found dead due to an apparent plasma discharge. It is judged a suicide by Security Chief Lt. Worf, but Dr Crusher intuitively knows it was neither a suicide nor an accident.
 Dr Crusher discussed how unusual this seems with Captain Picard. She wanted to perform an autopsy, but the captain informed her that it was out of the question, as the family insisted the body not be desecrated before they could perform the Ferengi death ritual. Frustrated, Dr Crusher decided to perform an investigation. She confronted Christopher and T'Pan; the former became incensed at first, but eventually mentioned overhearing the Klingon scientist Kurak having a fiery argument with Reyga. Dr Crusher then confronted Kurak, much to her own peril. As she determined Kurak also did not murder Reyga, she found herself stumped and her confidence faltering. Knowing she would be disobeying a direct order, she performed an autopsy on Reyga, and found nothing. She informed Picard who was forced to relieve her of duty.
 In the present, Guinan encourages her to continue her investigation, as she has nothing left to lose. Dr Crusher then proceeds with further investigation as suggested, enlisting the assistance of Lt. Commander Data and Nurse Ogawa in turn. Commander Riker warns her not to do anything "foolish". Despite this, and suspecting sabotage was the result of the initial test flight failing, Crusher takes the shuttle with Dr Reyga's shielding into the star herself. Picard urges her to come back, but to no avail. In the shuttle, Jo'Bril emerges alive. He reveals his species can fake death. He also plans to fake the destruction of the shuttle and take it back to his homeworld. He plans to profit from the new shielding, turning it into a weapon. Jo'Bril attacks Dr Crusher, but she fights back and is forced to completely vaporize him.
 Dr Crusher returns the ship, relieved to have vindicated Reyga, and returns to active duty. She also replicates a specially designed tennis racket for Guinan so she would never get tennis elbow again, but Guinan admits she has never played tennis; she was merely trying to figure out what was wrong with Crusher.
Review:
For our second episode on the go, we get plot-driven plot in a series that’s meant to explore issues through metaphor or develop characters.  This episode does neither, only serving as a Trek attempt to do ‘Quincey in space’. Off the top of my head, I can’t remember if this show’s final season was this ‘experimental’, but I really hope it wasn’t.  It seems like in trying to do new things, The Next Generation was forgetting what it was supposed to be.  I give this episode only 5 out of 10.
Episode 23: Rightful Heir
Plot (as given by me):
When Lt. Worf is late to report for duty on the bridge, Commander Riker investigates and finds him in his quarters in a trance-like state. The incident is brought to the attention of Captain Picard, who goes to speak with Worf. Apparently ever since encountering the Klingon children in the Romulan prison in the Carraya system, Worf has felt empty; the fervour with which those young Klingons took to their true heritage has made Worf’s own faith seem weak and hollow by comparison, and his efforts to summon a vision of Kahless are now interfering with his duties. Picard asks if Worf needs to go somewhere to more fully explore his beliefs, and agrees to place him on leave so he can visit the Klingon temple on Boreth, provided that he returns to full duty when he returns.
 After ten days on Boreth and receiving neither visions nor insight, Worf becomes frustrated and prepares to leave, but is convinced by the high priest Korath to remain. Later, Kahless appears to Worf, but to his amazement, the being is no vision or phantom, but a real flesh-and-blood Klingon who looks like the Kahless of legend and claims to be him. Worf is sceptical, and neither tricorder scans nor challenging Kahless to combat yields conclusive results, though many at the temple believe this Kahless to be the real one on whom Klingon legend is based. Farther afield, Gowron learns of the situation and asks for the Enterprise to relay Kahless, Korath and another member of the temple to him, suspecting Kahless to be some kind of fake. The temple clerics have long opposed Gowron, and he suspects this to all be a ploy on their part.
 On board the Enterprise, the blood of the new Kahless is compared against the fossilised blood of the original, and when both are genetically identical, Worf finally accepts the new Kahless as the original. However, evidence then begins mounting to contradict this view; Kahless doesn’t recognise the difference between a replicated Klingon drink and the real stuff, he claims to have no memories of the Klingon afterlife or of Kahless’ life beyond sacred texts, and when challenged to combat by Gowron, he is easily bested in honest combat. It turns out the new Kahless is a clone that was programmed with certain knowledge so he would appear to be the real Kahless. This had been done by the clerics to put an end to the decadence and corruption destroying the Klingon empire from within.
 When Worf learns two of Gowron’s men have remained aboard the Enterprise in hopes of seeing Kahless, he realises many will not care about the nature of the new Kahless and make a ‘leap of faith’. He reveals the truth of this Kahless to Gowron and convinces him to accept a compromise. The new Kahless will be installed as Emperor, but will only be a political figurehead and spiritual leader; all political and legislative power would remain with Gowron as leader of the High Council. Faced with the possibility of civil war if he does not comply, Gowron grudgingly accepts. As Kahless leaves, Worf finds he is back to the original crisis of faith he had before, but Kahless points out that his progenitor left them a philosophy of life and being that is more important than whether or not he would return, and that the spirit of Kahless lives in all true Klingons.

It’s often interesting to see Trek take on matters of spirituality because it always involves having to go to your non-human characters to do so, meaning it can be a lot more allegorical and less literal than some Trek issue exploration.  This isn’t something Next Generation did a lot of, though, because for much of its run the series creator Gene Roddenberry was alive and producing the show, and Roddenberry’s vision of humanity’s future was highly secularist.  On the one hand I do agree with this, as a large amount of conflict within humanity is based of organised religions fighting each other rather than being friends or at least peaceful competitors, but on the other hand it makes exploring how religion can affect us in real life far harder to do.
 Much of the episode keeps the focus on how spirituality plays out within this era of Trek, and as such you’re really getting a Worf character episode more than an issue-oriented one.  However, the episode does make some interesting points around spirituality, the first being when someone comes along and claims to be holy, or even divine, how the heck do you measure that?  Every character Kahless encounters has their own metric that for them proves or disproves Kahless’ claims, and this kind of lacking consistency and ability to apply empirical testing and proving to the issue is why I personally steer clear of it.  To my mind, if something can’t be proved or disproved, I’m not going to take much real-life interest in it except as literary fodder.
 The second point is whether the details matter more than whoever wrote them.  Since the details tend to out-last whoever first made them, I’d say yes, they do matter more than whoever came up with the details.  That being said, I also think that the details need to change with the times, because some of the details are very much of a specific time in history and make no sense in modern times.  There are a few times in the West Wing that this has been flagged up with regards to the bible, and the Kevin Smith film Dogma makes similar points, and all point inescapably to the fact that unlike secular laws, religious lore has a tendency to remain fixed even when it is no longer adhered to, and is often misinterpreted to support prejudice and hate when a system of regular amendments with the times would probably close such loopholes.
 For me, this was a good episode and earns 10 out of 10; it would have been 9, but Data admitting to making a ‘leap of faith’ regarding the very nature of his existence helps to support the almost-perfect spiritual examination of the Klingons and take the whole thing to full marks.
Episode 24: Second Chances
Plot (as given by me):
The Enterprise arrives at Nervala IV to retrieve scientific data from a Starfleet outpost on the planet that had to be evacuated eight years earlier. The evacuation was led by Commander Riker when he was serving as a lieutenant on the Potemkin, and he remembers almost being left behind during beam-out. A distortion field around the planet prevents transport beams working except once every eight years when the planet passes close enough to its sun to disrupt the field and allow a few transport windows. When a transport window opens early, the commander leads an away team down, but finds the research station is tidier than when he left it. It soon turns out this is because someone has been there; another William T Riker.
 An investigation reveals that during the evacuation, the transporter chief on the Potemkin had activated a second transport beam to try and get Riker through the distortion field, but this had been an unnecessary action. As a result, the cancelled second beam materialised one copy of Riker’s transport pattern back on the surface while the first beam materialised another copy on the Potemkin. The returned Riker subsequently gained rapid promotion that resulted in him prioritising his career over his romantic relationship with Deanna Troi, while the abandoned Riker had to make do surviving on the abandoned research station.  Captain Picard asks Commander Riker to enlist his double in efforts to retrieve the information from the research station, as the double has made numerous improvised changes to the equipment to keep himself alive.
 The mission’s success is hampered as the commander and his subordinate double clash; Data later theorises that this is because neither man likes the notion of no longer being unique, while Worf speculates that each Riker is uncomfortable seeing their own flaws in the other. At the same time, Lt. Riker tries to regain the romance with Troi that Commander Riker abandoned. Troi is initially reluctant, but begins to entertain the idea until Commander Riker notes that his double might make the same decision to put his career first further down the line. Realising this is probably true, Troi begins to express a note of caution, which further frustrates Lt. Riker.
 During a final attempt to secure the scientific data, Lt. Riker almost falls to his death in a chasm beneath the research station, but Commander Riker saves his double despite the risk of being pulled in himself. With the information retrieved, the Enterprise travels to rendezvous with the Ghandi, Captain Picard having arranged a posting on that ship for Lt. Riker. Troi opts to remain on board the Enterprise, but suggests she remains open to getting involved with Lt. Riker someday. Commander Riker gives his trombone to his double, who in turn reveals that he’s decided to use their middle name of Thomas to distinguish himself from the commander. Will notes that this must mean they are different people, as he apparently never cared for his middle name.
Review:
There are a few reasons to make note of this episode. For one, it’s the directorial debut of cast member LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge, to use his character’s name); Burton would go on to direct Trek episodes not only in TNG, but also across the spin-offs DS9 and Voyager, and the prequel series Enterprise.  The episode also features a cameo by Dr Mae Jemison, the first female African-American astronaut in space, which in turn resulted in a set visit by Nichelle Nicholls, better known to Trek fans as the original Uhura from the original Trek TV show and films.
 However, the main reason to remember it is that it’s the episode where Commander Riker turns out to have been duplicated, which would later result in a fun episode on Deep Space Nine.  Unfortunately, the episode concept was almost rejected until it was decided that it would be used to examine the Riker-Troi romance. Granted, that would later pay dividends in the TNG films, when the restrictions of episodic television allowed for more daring forays into things the show had restrained itself on, but for me that’s the wrong focus.  The right focus would have been to use the double to effectively define/confirm what Riker’s character was, or to use it as a way to question cloning science without actually using cloning in the story.
 As it is, we just two Rikers bickering like overgrown children, and since it starts before the one who eventually names himself Thomas starts trying to seduce Deanna, it’s not like the love triangle angle explains this.  Granted, I’m as overjoyed as anyone to see Trek abandon Roddenberry’s stupid idea about avoiding interpersonal conflict, but it’s stupider still to make two characters argue without a clear, present, explicit basis for said conflict.  Why are Will and Tom Riker having a go at each other?  Don’t just have Data and Worf try to guess in one scene; tell us straight out.  Show it, explore it, make the show about that. You had a great concept here, and you choked.  For me, this episode only ends up earning 6 out of 10.

I think it’s terrifying how much I ship in DF but as I tell everyone, I can ship just about anything if you give me some basis for it (fanart and fanfic only expedite the process). I was trying to answer someone’s question but suddenly was like well fuck when trying to think of ships to list:
Canon/Canon:
Hero/Anyone - let’s face it, everyone has some strong feeling for the Hero
Serepulchure (Serenity/Sepulchure) - you know who you are that started this madness. I have answered far too many ship asks and have made TWO lovechildren to NOT ship it by now
Elysia/Nythera - After Rise of the Dragon Mage, how can I NOT? Like all the dragons are their babes. And I love bad/good dynamic, can you blame me?
Zhothera (Nythera/Zhoom) - I only answered ONE ship ask but because I actually like think out dynamics when writing those, guess what? Kinda ship it. Mainly because they are a ship that no one seems to know is a thing until you see them do something like hold hands or kiss.
Warlic/Xan/Jaania - Hilariously, I don’t like Warlic nor Jaania but I think their dynamic with Xan is so great. Also, I love Xan so much so if they make him happy, let him have them.
Galanoth/Ikea - You know, Gal with the furniture shopkeeper. You know who you are. But it’s not bad? I mean I see her as being a really sweet but at the same time able to rough it.
Symone/Hero/Valencia - Look, I have weakness for femme fatales. The three of them together? Totally could take on the world. Although for me, most times it’s mainly the Hero dating Symone and Valencia. If they could talk and work out their problems, maybe Symone and Valencia could be something else other than rival/enemy status? On the other hand....
Mazurek/Hero/Valencia - This is mainly with a rogue feminine Hero in mind as they are a trio of thieves. And ones that end up having a good time no matter where they go. This may or may not have bloomed because of a heist AU I thought of...
Ash/Aria - Only when they are older! I don’t know, I have a slight thing for the childhood friends that become something else. And based off Book 3, I feel like Ash has picked up some things from Yulgar.
Ash/Princess of Light - I kinda like their dynamics but actually got weirded out a little by the amnesia part thrown in. Like is this just for a fresh start or??? It’s a knight and princess dynamic, which is normally pretty cool to me.
White Flag (Mazurek/Tomix) - I feel like if they had more time, it could’ve been an interesting time. Like, I highly doubt that they would’ve stayed together long-term but I feel like they could’ve been a good relationship for as long as they lasted. And now, it kinda is just a tale of what could’ve been.
Burnt Toast (Serenity/Xan) - Total crack ship but hey, it could’ve been nice. I mean, in the long term, Xan wasn’t even the WORST we have in terms in villains. And he has to see Serenity some time as he gets her bread.
Vilmor/Circe - What do you mean you can’t have a ship with bitter enemies? I don’t know, how I saw them running off each other reminded me of phantom thieves and the dogged detective. Soooo that just ends up being kinda cool. Doesn’t help there’s a criminal AU that passed my mind with them.
Lim/Cysero (and sometimes Warlic) - It’s science versus magic. That fight in itself is great. And I never actually feel any animosity from Cysero when it came to the Clashening. Like he legitimately felt like he was adding to Lim’s efforts. And I don’t ever feel any genuine hate from Lim either, he just is like that ‘what, HOW.’
Thursday/Raven - GO SAVE YOUR GIRLFRIEND! One of the best things to happen in Book 3. Because Raven didn’t care. She was so damn determined to keep Thursday safe no matter what. And Thursday didn’t want Raven hurt. Ah, my heart.
OC/Canon:
Alegis (Alexa/Aegis) - But he’s the light to her darkness! How can you do any better than that? I’m so sad that it couldn’t but RPed but I feel like some of the writings done for them were great.
Ryunn/Tomix - Who hasn’t by now? I mean, just look at them!
Tykath (Ty/Drakath) - *maniacal laughter* After x chapters of Double Edged, knowing about their family life and kids, and encouraging the mention of them in RP? I think I ship it.
Galris (Daeris/Galanoth) - See, here’s the thing, I actually know very little about it personally. Everything I know is from ship asks and from once being told how Gal is cursed to fall for her. Love across lifetimes/dimensions? Sign me the fuck up.
Amalencia (Amal/Valencia) - Pretty much the only one from my blog that actually happened. It is a rival to friends situation and Valencia opened his eyes to the world. But then it becomes sad as Amal is canonically dead by present DF and Valencia never did know what happened to him.

Hard to believe that after five long years that we are finally caught up to the events or the first weaver saga...and the tragedies that it caused are in full view now.
As I've seen others point out it's almost hard to believe that Dragesvard is gone, what the hell happened to Galanoth? Which almost makes me wonder what elemental creatures came from its rift. We already saw fire and light appear in Swordhaven and energy was pretty much the only other element that could provide enough explosive heat to melt Dragesvard and given that it's likely that it's citizens were following ice dragons to what I can only assume is Dragonsgrasp another ice assualt seems unlikely. I suppose the glacier being sunked further into the sea by rising sea levels is one feasibility so perhaps water elementals? Then again Darkness has been shown to be capable of producing flames. Or it could potentially be earth this time given that whoever was speaking at the end had their textbox color coded from earth's thematic colors.
Speaking of this unknown character I'm curious as to who they are. I've seen some people say it's Tremblor, which makes me wonder if the Avatars truly did learn during the Maleurous saga to be better, and others say it's Genokratos which the latter could be nice I suppose since we really haven't touched on any of the other great dragons.
Oooooooooo I wonder if we'll see Vilmor and Cryozen jr again now.
Oh and Jaania sweet Jaania what are you doing? You better not be heading straight to the mana core while these rifts are still going crazy. ●~●
ALSO, SHAPELESS EMPIRE, YOU JUST GOT FUCKED!

renegade x ships and what their first dates would be like
Katmien: it was 100% to an arcade. they played nothing but the claw machine for four hours, wasted fifty bucks, and won four stuffed animals. they divided up the spoils evenly.
Sarien: breaking into vilmore aside, they probably went to a poetry slam. they drank black coffee and damien heckled everyone quietly.
Sariley: they watched the star trek movie together and talked about spirk the whole time. zach, sitting one room away, finally yelled at them to shut the fuck up about star trek and just kiss.
Rilien: their first official date was at a mcdonalds. they got mcflurrys and french fries and pretended it was a fancy restaurant. afterwards they made wishes in the closest fountain they could find.
Petemien: tbh i don’t even think they went on dates i feel like pete would just pay for damien’s food and then make out with him.
Masete: mason marched up to pete and said “we are going out on a date now” and pete was too surprised to disagree so they went to denny’s and were really stiff and awkward until pete was like “hey let’s go have sex in the denny’s bathroom.”
Masien: i feel like mason would have to resort to trickery to get damien to go out with him. oh you thought this was a truce meeting? surprise asshole, it’s a date. regardless, it takes place at a starbucks.
Masiley: riley and mason were like nine and they get married on the playground by another hero kid. that’s it. that’s their only date thus far.
Rilete: i feel that, by virtue of pete’s electronic status, their date would take place on club penguin. possibly in the coffee shop, definitely with their puffles there.
Sarat: they went for a fancy dinner and ended up getting kicked out because their game of footsie got a little aggressive. they didn’t even care. they bought hot cocoa mix and frosted animal crackers and took the party to sarah’s house.
Zachmien: are you suggesting that their first date WASN’T heroes on ice?

First Dates
“Would you, um, would you like to come on a treasure raid with me?”
Those were the words that Quenelda had uttered to Vilmor in Sunbreeze Grove, and knowing how fond the other woman was of her treasure and it was a good excuse to spend time with her, Vilmor had agreed, growing Cryozen Jr to his titan size and setting off with Quenelda and Two Gulps and You’re Gone, without asking who the target was.
“Quenelda? Remind me why we’re robbing Sepulchure of all people?”
Flying alongside her, Quenelda looked over, blonde hair blowing in the wind, and gave a tinkling laugh that made butterflies flutter in Vilmor’s stomach. “Because I have it on very reliable information that he has a magnificent hoard, despite Fluffy robbing him twice, and we know where it is. We can get in and out quickly, and it will really annoy him.”
“Well when you put it that way…” Vilmor laughed, not noticing Quenelda’s cheeks reddening slightly, as the two dragons soared forwards – Cryozen Jr beating his wings twice for Two Gulps’ once – until the Flying Fortress came into view.
Two Gulps manoeuvred himself closer to Cryozen Jr and Quenelda held out her hand. “Two Gulps can get us to the nearest balcony unseen and then come back here. He’ll make sure nothing happens to Cryozen Jr, don’t worry. We go in, grab what we need and get out where he’ll pick us up again.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Vilmor nodded, stroking Cryozen Jr’s neck and murmuring comforting words to him, with her young dragon crooning in response, before taking Quenelda’s hand and stepping onto Two Gulps’ back, neither of them noticing the other one’s blush. The battledragon waited until Vilmor had settled down behind Quenelda before surging forwards in a flash of light with a powerful beat of his wings, angling himself so he was alongside a balcony.
“Now!” Quenelda gripped Vilmor’s hand and the two of them leapt off Two Gulps’ back, landing quietly on the balcony. Quenelda exchanged a glance with her battledragon, the two of them evidently communicating, before turning back to Vilmor as Two Gulps sped off again. “He’ll be waiting for our call. Now let’s go get some treasure.”
“After you,” Vilmor grinned, indicating the open doorway. Quenelda winked (a move which resulted in both of their hearts beating a little faster) before slipping through, Vilmor following her.
From the hill he had settled down on, Cryozen Jr raised his head as Two Gulps appeared and landed. “They really like each other, don’t they?”
Two Gulps sighed. “You’re right there, kid.”
****
The inside of the Flying Fortress was pretty much exactly how Vilmor had pictured the inside of an evil fortress to be like. Long, dark corridors with the helm and insignia of the DoomKnights everywhere, be that statues, on banners or on rugs (although curiously they did come across an empty space on the floor of one corridor where a rug was meant to be but had been taken from). The information that Quenelda had been provided by Fluffy was still correct as they were able to avoid patrolling undead – although Quenelda had her sword by her side just in case – until they came across a seemingly innocuous wall.
“Is this it?” Vilmor glanced around for any intruders before looking back at the wall. “A hidden in plain sight type thing?”
“Bang on,” Quenelda nodded before motioning them both to step back and drawing a Darkness rune in the air. Her eyes flashed gold as she jabbed her index and middle finger into it, sending a concentrated blast of Darkness into the wall, which shuddered open.
Quenelda grinned, turning to Vilmor. “Shall we?”
“Of course,” Vilmor grinned back, checking one last time for any unwelcome guests before the two of them entered the treasury. The sight of piles of gold and jewels made Quenelda give an appreciative rumble, her eyes glittering, and the butterflies to return to Vilmor’s stomach before she cleared her throat.
“This is…quite the hoard. How do we get it out of here?”
“That’s no problem, Vilmor,” Quenelda winked again. “We’ll use an old dragon trick to get it out of here and we can then split it between us back in Sunbreeze Grove.”
“I defer to your judgement, my lady,” Vilmor smiled.
Quenelda blinked slightly, trying to ignore her heart fluttering, before coughing slightly and turning back to the treasure. Her eyes glowing gold again, she stretched her arm out, extending her fingers towards the treasure and muttered a spell in draconic. The gold shimmered before the majority vanished, leaving two small piles that could easily fit into bags.
“There! It’s been sent to my lair, that is Sunbreeze Grove, and we can carry some out for the aesthetic.”
“So that’s how dragons do it,” Vilmor noted, withdrawing two bags and striding forwards to pile the remaining treasure into them.
“They do like their treasure raids, and it is nice to partake in one with company…” Quenelda trailed off as their eyes met. A few seconds passed, before Vilmor blinked and held out one of the bags she was carrying.
“Here…”
“Oh! Thank you…” Quenelda took it before glancing back at the open door. “Let’s get out of here and back to Sunbreeze Grove.”
Vilmor nodded and the two of them exited the treasury again only to stop still at a very unwelcome sight; Prince Drakath.
The exiled prince blinked a couple of times in surprise before opening his mouth. “Hey! What are you–?!”
Before he could finish his sentence, Vilmor lunged forwards and sent a stream of ice at Drakath, freezing him to the nearby wall. Quenelda darted out from behind her as Drakath spluttered, her wings shimmering into being and clubbing him over the head, knocking him out cold.
“Wow, Luna was right; it is really easy to beat this guy,” she mused before shaking her head. “Quick, let’s get out of here before someone more competent spots us.”
Nodding in agreement, Vilmor followed her back down the corridors to the balcony they had started from, where Two Gulps was already waiting. Effortlessly leaping onto his back, Quenelda once again extended her hand for Vilmor and pulled her up, Two Gulps soaring away from the Flying Fortress and back to where Cryozen Jr was waiting.
“Now, back to Sunbreeze Grove!”
****
“We just found him like this, Lord Sepulchure,” the minion grovelled as the DoomKnight entered the corridor, giving an exasperated sigh at the sight of the unconscious Drakath frozen to the wall. “We have no idea who could be responsible.”
“Just get him down,” Sepulchure snapped, clenching his fists. “We’ll find whoever did this and make them pay.”
“Yes my lord,” the minion bowed as several undead arrived to help try and pull Drakath off the wall. As they worked to free him, Sepulchure glanced around, his eyes narrowing as he caught sight of the open treasury door. Surely not…not for a third time…! Charging through the door, he stopped still as once again, the sight of an empty room met his eyes.
“DRAKATH! YOU IDIOT!”
****
The flight back to Sunbreeze Grove was uneventful and Cryozen Jr and Two Gulps touched down in the dragon training arena. Vilmor shrunk Cryozen Jr back to his baby size and Two Gulps transformed into his human form once Quenelda has disembarked. Outside the arena were the piles of treasure the two of them had obtained, being examined by another nine dragons in their human forms – Fluffy the dracolich and the Primary Dragons themselves! – while Lady Celestia and Elysia sat nearby drinking tea under the shade of the trees.
“I’ll go check in with Celestia and Elysia and make sure those ten aren’t up to mischief,” Quenelda tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Thank you for coming with me, Vilmor. I had a good time.”
“I did too,” Vilmor replied softly, watching Quenelda walk towards the treasure before feeling Cryozen Jr nudge her leg with his head. “Come on you, we’d better get back to DragonsGrasp.” Looking up at her with his big blue eyes, Cryozen Jr gave a warble. Vilmor smiled and picked him up so he could drape around her neck. “Okay, we’ll have a little break and maybe even a snack and then we’ll have to go back, okay? You’re the Great Ice Dragon; you deserve the best care possible.”
“Um…hey.”
Vilmor turned to see Quenelda, whose cheeks were quite flushed, evidently from the ride, holding out a silver bracelet studded with sapphires and diamonds; the bracelet itself looked like dragon scales and the jewels looked like snowflakes.
“Oh wow, that’s beautiful.”
“Isn’t it?” Quenelda’s eyes glittered with a hint of gold before returning to their usual tawny. “Here, you can have it. It reminded me of you.”
“Thank you,” Vilmor felt her own cheeks reddening slightly as Quenelda pressed the bracelet into her hand. It’s so beautiful…like her…but she’s just being friendly! Nothing more…
Over Quenelda’s shoulder, Two Gulps glanced over before his eyebrow shot up at the sight. He opened his mouth as if to say something but a quick look from his human had him shut it again, an odd expression on his face.
His sister, however, was not so subtle.
“Wow, sharing treasure?” Blue Horn folded her arms and gave a fanged grin. “You really do like her.”
