Sleepover Shows: When we recorded our set with Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys a while back, we somehow got onto the topic of Halloween. Asking them if they had anything special up their sleeves, they pleasantly responded that, yes, they do a pretty raucous version of Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters theme song. Yes, please! Edrie is going to town on that glockenspiel and i think Craig'd like it if she hit him a little in the process, right??? I have to beat those kids from www.bostonbandcrush.org to the punch here: HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Tonight I was at the second night of the Rock ‘N Roll Rumble (Sponsored by Monster, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Boston Emissions and TT The Bear’s Place) to go see Tijuana Sweetheart, but instead had my mind absolutely raped by the sexual and audial greatness of Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys. They are a SteamCrunk band. Not Steampunk, SteamCRUNK. I was blown the fuck away...

...It was love at first sight. Okay, not exactly. Given my history of judgementalism towards the weird and different, I really had to hold back and prevent myself from judging them hard. I saw a troupe, no it was bigger than that, I saw a giant swarm of fucking rabbits in top hats and I swore to God that Hugh Hefner was in town. Well, I’m not far from the truth because this was probably the most sexual almost burlesque show I’ve ever seen in my life. Given that I’ve seen Sidewalk Driver and their considerably A-Sexual lead singer, I must say the entire swarm of rabbits and the full Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys band can only be described as ALL-Sexual. It’s one thing that the band is absolutely mind fuckingly good, but the Rabbits turned the crowd into one giant dancing sex festival. It’s something that must be experienced in person, because it’s one thing to watch porn and it’s another thing to actually have sex.

I’ve listened to the likes of Stolen Babies and Diablo Swing Orchestra, which are both Avant Garde Steam-esque bands, I cannot put them anywhere near the same category of Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys Jesus hell that’s a mouthful to say over and over again… If they can move me from “Who are these Rabbits?” to “I want to be one!” then they must hold some damn fine talent because I am far removed from my dressing awkwardly in public days (I prefer to dress as a “respectable hipster” now, so says Amanda). . .
