Tsukuyomi Theory Summary

Sooo.. I'm sure that pretty much everyone here knows about the Tsukuyomi theory so I don’t need to explain it. But bc there are is so much speculation about it I decided to summarize it. And I also tried to find a convincing counterargument to each point. These arguments aren't specifically detailed since I just wanted to give you an overview for the theory. If you are interested to know more about something just click on the links in the brackets (I basically put the links of the post I got most of the information from in there).

I'm gonna rate each point from 1 to 10 (10 very convincing and 1 not rly convincing) and I’ll put a + în if it’s for the theory and - against it (->The rating is my personal opinion and I'm rating it extra critical).

Everything against the theory is in cursive.

Alright then! Let’s start xd

1. Heaven doesn't remember (-10)

- None of the people in heaven remember hmmmm?? Why???

- Maybe its bc Father put some kind of spell on Yato? But why did Amaterasu help him to get out of the Underworld then? Why would she know about his 'true name'? (Link to 1, 2, 12, 14)

2. Amaterasu wondering 'bout Yatos name (-7)

- Amaterasu asked if his name was Yato (/doesnt recognize him)

-> could be explained as her either not actually recognizing him bc of reincarnation (If she ever even had to reincarnate) or she just wanted to keep it a secret for some reason

-> She might've been astonished bc of his new name/ Pseudo name

3. Moon symbolic (+Flower) (+3,5)

- Yato often gets drawn with the moon and stuff (might just be an artistic choice)

-> On one of the covers he was drawn with a flower called Gekka Bijin which can be translated as ''the beautiful one under the moon'' (Link)

-> And the fact that in ch.37 Amaterasu has been drawn with a sun just supports those reoccurring moon symbolistics with Yato

4. Yukines memory (+2)

- Chapter 80.2: Yukine: ''I saw this person before, who is he?''

- Chapter 73: ''But if I looked harder, you were there'' -> moon in background -> could just be too much interpretation

Still kinda weird that she even put the moon there, she could've also hid it behind yukines dads head or just anywhere else; well maybe she just likes to draw the moon? xD (Link)

5. Trashdad named Yato (+3)

- Questionable: Every other god gets born knowing their name but Yato was named by trashdad HMmmMmMmmmMMMmmmm??? (verryyy suspicious if u ask me)

- But we don't know yet how gods get named. Maybe that's just how it works. Or maybe Trashdad put some kind of spell on Yato (this one actually sounds pretty convincing even despite the possibility of Yato probably being Tsukuyomi)

6. Killing isn't his true nature (+4)

- Although he's a war god he was born with the desire to make people happy

-> you could assume that it’s bc trashdads true wish actually was something else but to destroy the heavens and stuff but honestly, why would Yato even still exist until now since his dads wish obviously is different from the other one? We don't know his true intentions yet which is why we can't evaluate this point

- But I think it's pretty sure to say that Yato isn't actually what father tells him he is

7. Trashdad is worried (-4)

- Father was worried that Yato would disappear if he died

-> he might be lying and manipulating Nora cuz he's a psychopath (Link)

-> maybe he's also worried that if Yato dies he'd reincarnate at Tsukuyomis shrine? (Although I don't think it would be very difficult to get Yato back)

8. Amaterasus help (Underworld Arc) (+6,5)

- Why did Amaterasu even help him to get out of the underworld? If Yato actually is Tsukuyomi that would make a lotta sense since he's her brother._ On the other hand though she trapped Yukine in a box and stuff._ But maybe she just did it bc she couldn't risk getting into trouble with the heavens?? Or maybe she doesn't rlly like her bro, but why would she even safe him from the underworld? xdd (Link)

9. Birthday (+10000)

- HIYORIS RULING PLANET IS THE MOON!!!1!!!11! (alright I'm just kidding)

10. Yato name meaning (+1)

- Yato can be written differently and then be translated as ''rabbit of the night'' (in asia the hare is often associated with the moon) (Link)

->could just be some kind of coincidence

11. Character design (+3)

- Basically his character design: pale, dark hair, blue eyes (artistic choices again)

12. Tsukuyomis disappearance (-9)

- Why does no one care about Tsykuyomis 1000 yr long disappearance? I mean he's the f ing moon god he can't just disappear? What about his shrines and stuff??

-> or maybe the heavens just hated him so much for killing Uke Mochi that they didn't care lolz (But they did give Ebisu a second chance so why not Tsukuyomi?)

13. Noragami title real meaning (+1)

- Noragami -> he might actually be like a Nora just as a god. 2 different kinds of god (Tsukuyomi the moon god and Yaboku the calamity god) with 2 different 'powers' just like a Nora. (Link)

Or the title simply hints to him being homeless haha

14. Moral (this is just a opinion thing so no rating)

- might 'destroy' the actual moral of the story (honestly I don't think it would destroy the moral of the story he still managed to become a better person without that status. And him being Tsukuyomi also wouldn't solve all the problems, it would just create even more problems. But I can see why people would be upset about this) (Link ->6)

15. Hiiros water abilities (+7,5)

- Hiiro only had water abilities when she was being used by Yato (and NO Rabo doesn't count he doesn't exist in the manga). That's especially interesting cuz in religions and horoscopes and stuff the moon often gets connected to water

- ALSO: Tsukuyomi himself was known for having water abilities (according to ancient japanese poetry)

16. Yatos character song (+0)

- His theme song is called ''Boat in the MoonLight'' (And can be read as Tsukuyomi by making up the first two Kanji) (but honestly that's kinda a stoopid reason since the title was given by the people who worked on the Anime not by Adachitoka)

17. Tsukuyomi Shrine (+3,5)

- The first ever Tsukuyomi Shrine was built by the iki Clan and OH WHAT A COINCIDENCE the first one to actually have built a shrine for Yato was Hiyori IKI. I'm pretty sure that's the reason Hiyoris family can see ghosts and stuff although it doesn't exactly proof that Yato is Tsukuyomi

(-> AND another kind of important thing is that the shrine was built before Tsukuyomis 'Reincarnation' which means he actually could've known the Iki Clan members personally so it would make more sense that they built a shrine for him)

18. The source of the calamity (+4)

- He thinks that he brings calamity to everyone around him but all the calamity that was ever brought to anyone around him was caused by trashdad

-> Although this doesn't proof that he is Tsukuyomi it definitely is another proof for Yato not being a god of calamity _

19. Real mythology (+2)

- Tsukuyomi disappears from the japanese Mythology at some point (there isn't that much information 'bout him anyways) -> might have been a good opportunity for Adachitoka to create her own story about him

20. Cutting ties (+1)

- Why would a minor god like Yato have the ability to cut ties? Especially if he is a 'war god' according to trash dad. But u know it still is a possibility so eh not really a reason

In conclusion:

Total points: +12

[-] -> 30/40=75% [+] -> 42/140=30%

Overall: Although the points against the theory are more convincing it seems to be more likely that it’s true.

So it kinda just stays an opinion thing? xd Well anyways it doesn’t matter whether the Tsukuyomi theory is true or not Noragami is and always will be great.

Smash Bros. Ultimate FINAL ROSTER PREDICTIONS (Redux)

I already did this, but loadsss of stuff changed since then. As release day draws closer, I thought I’d sift through my predictions for characters. Have a read if u want, then if you disagree lemme know bc my hype hasn’t died down since it was announced i need help (and hey if u look at my old prediction post, I already predicted Simon, K. Rool and Dark Samus so I can’t be the worst, right?)

Okay so my predictions have changed A LOT since I started this blog a few months ago and I think I’ve narrowed it down a lil now. So to put it simply, I think we’re definitely getting one more Smash based direct in October/November. Considering the fact that they’ve got the Mystery Mode™, online play and a whole load of other modes/assists/a few characters we aren’t aware of yet, I reckon they’ll have plenty to talk about in it. My other prediction is that we’re getting 2 newcomers and 1 more echo MINIMUM. Could get maybe a couple more echoes or 1 or 2 standalone character reveals as a stretch but I think we can at least expect that much.

Characters (Base Roster)

Geno (Super Mario RPG)

This wooden eggo has been the only character that’s been a constant in my predictions since the get go, despite the fact that I know basically nothing about him. But he’s the character I’m most confident about getting in.

This newcomer cycle has had a big ol focus on fan appeal this time, most likely stemming from the ballot. This was kind of clear from the Ridley reveal, but the addition of King K. Rool kind of made this a lot more likely. And I would go as far as to say that Geno is probably the most highly requested Smash character since ever.

Sakurai has stated multiple times that he wanted Geno in Brawl and then in Smash 4, but the best he could get was a mii costume. But yeah, not a lot of characters can say that they not only have long standing fan demand, but also are wanted by Sakurai himself.

Considering that Square Enix were previously unwilling to play ball with Nintendo on Geno, but then they went and put arguably their most lucrative character in Cloud as DLC for Smash 4, I don’t think Square’s gonna be too bothered about handing over this character, especially since it’s a character they’re never going to do anything with (Don’t know about you but I’m not seeing a Mario RPG sequel in the pipeline)

And as much as I hate to allude to leakers in my predictions, you can’t deny the fact that Vergeben has not gotten a single thing wrong regarding Smash so far. And he has mentioned a new Square rep and I honestly don’t know who else that could be. Chrono? Lara Croft? But then there’s no way either of those beat Geno in the ballot.

Incineroar (Pokemon)

We’ve yet to receive a Pokemon in this game and really that’s reason enough in itself. Considering that we’ve had at least one new Pokemon rep in every game, I v much doubt they’ll break that tradition now

The two Big Guesses that everyone has been throwing out since day 1 have been Incineroar and Decidueye, both from Gen 7, as we know from Smash 4′s Greninja inclusion that Pokemon is the only franchise with the power to get a rep in before their game releases. And because of this, Pokemon reps are the only ones that are exceptions of my usual rule to discount any characters that released after the time Sakurai has stated he locked in the roster for this game in 2015/16 (looking at Spring Man and Rex & Pyra here, but I’m almost certain they will be DLC)

Yet again, calling on Vergeben here. He has explicitly said Incineroar is in over Decidueye. But hey, he’s not god so he could be wrong eventually. I’m still fairly convinced of Incineroar’s inclusion tho (as much as I’d prefer Decidueye)

Ken as a Ryu echo (Street Fighter)

Ken is the only echo I’m convinced is getting in. A lot of this is honestly, again, down to Vergeben’s leaks and a screenshot of Ken in a Smash Ultimate stage that has yet to be debunked. I don’t have a lot to say on this character purely because I don’t think there are many more people that need convincing.

Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic series)

Shadow’s assist is missing and has been replaced out of nowhere with Knuckles, as you probably know. This is a huge notch in his favour, especially if you consider that Isabelle’s assist was replaced with Kapp’n in the August direct and now ta dah here she is. Honestly, with Shadow I think it’s only a matter of time, whether they release him as an echo alongside Ken in the final direct in the same way they did with Dark Samus and Chrom or they save him for DLC as a unique fighter (if Isabelle can be unique, Shadow definitely can).

These four are my picks for the most likely characters left to be revealed, but hey there’s some Hot Picks™ that I left out that u may be curious about so here’s why they’re not here. I guess you could call these my back ups, but they all have too much doubt around them for me to place them in my main predictions (a lot of this is pure speculation so I’m probably wrong but what the hell):

Isaac (Golden Sun) - Now don’t get me wrong, I know Isaac has his fans and he genuinely has a good shot of getting in to Ultimate, especially if you consider that the only new first party franchise we’ve had so far is Splatoon. But what’s holding him back in my mind is that the likes of Ridley and K. Rool are in, villains from huge franchises that have had endless support since forever. And while Isaac has some sense of seniority, I don’t think his place on the ballot matched that of those particular characters. And if the likes of Ashley and Shovel Knight have been assist’d, I can’t see Isaac placing any higher than them if you think about how niche Golden Sun is (but u know, look how ‘niche’ Mario RPG is and Geno’s way up on my list so don’t listen to me). The other thing is that, in the E3 presentation, it was revealed that there are ‘over 50′ assist trophies in this game. We’re currently aware of 40, a fair majority of which have returned from previous games. That doesn’t look good for characters like Isaac if we’re looking at another 12-15 assists to pop up in the next direct. So all I’m saying is, don’t be surprised if that happens. But I definitely think he’ll pop up in some form, whether that be assist or playable.

Skull Kid (Zelda series) - This is one I was uncertain about for a long while, as the fact that his assist is missing and replaced with the Moon from Majora’s Mask is a notch in his favour but I think I’ve settled on the idea that they may be saving Skull Kid for something else: Boss character. We’re all pretty much thinking that mysterious mode is probably gonna be a story mode by now and Ultimate is already filling its boots with iconic characters fitting in as bosses with the likes of Dracula and Rathalos being announced. And as much as I want Skull Kid in, I would say that he is the most iconic Zelda villain besides Ganondorf, which places him in a weird position where he would be v much suited to a character slot but would also make for a viable boss addition. So yeah, could go either way but for me, there’s too much doubt around him to count him as a dead cert for the roster.

Bandana Waddle Dee (Kirby series) - Another very very likely candidate for the roster, this cute lil squishball would complete the Kirby set™ and he’s v popular in Japan. But he’s in the same position as Isaac where I’m not sure he got as much attention as peeps like Ridley and K. Rool. But hey, with Kirby and this character being Sakurai’s babies, this could sway him otherwise (I rlly hope so, can u tell I want him in)

Chorus Kids (Rhythm Heaven) - As my final back up/unsure pick, the Chorus Kids take their spot alongside Isaac in the ‘first party franchises that really need Smash attention’ category. The other things that make me pick the Chorus Kids over others is the fact that people doin’ some digging a while back revealed that the Chorus Kids were a scrapped character from Smash 4 so it isn’t a stretch to say that Sakurai could’ve gone back to that idea and make it work. Plus, the Chorus Kids would tick another box we’ve yet to account for; this game’s ‘weird’ rep. Much like Pokemon, it’s pretty much tradition at this point for each Smash game to contain a newcomer or two from odd franchises that not many would expect (Ice Climbers and Game & Watch in Melee, R.O.B. in Brawl, Wii Fit Trainer and Duck Hunt in Smash 4) and this is yet another tradition I don’t see them abandoning for Ultimate. As well as ticking this box, Chorus Kids are also a v popular pick so I have them in mind as the most likely pick if Sakurai is keeping the usual ‘weird’ rep tradition alive. But really what’s keeping Chorus Kids out of my main predictions is the fact that we have no idea if we’ll even get a rep in that vein this time, especially since competition for roster slots is so intense this time around.

OKAY so that’s all my dudes. If u happened to read my last post, you will notice that my number 1 fave pick ever Rayman is now gone from my predictions. But that’s bc I think he’ll be DLC now. So there you go. Tune in at some point when I’ll probably do a DLC posty boi. Have a good day.

okay so ive been rereading homestuck

a few notes now that i finished:

The first appearance of the reoccuring visual of a screen behind curtains with a clockwork sun and moon behind the whole thing was in a silly lil flash where Jade checks the MSPA website.

John is actually pretty smart, and figured out punch card alchemy before anyone else (Rose, by comparison, was happy just makin a fuckton of hammers). At one point he expresses enthusiasm on learning the trolls have a “COOL H4CK3R GUY”, but he unfortunately never really talks w/ Sollux.

Jade and Jake were trans-universal pen pals, but we NEVER get to see them interact. Well, beyond “hi” and “where are your pants”. That’s the extent of their interaction.

Prospitians/Dersites are, according to a line near the end of Intermission 1, capable of living for centuries. So WV and PM might still be around?

The fact that Bec was created by Derse agents is supposed to prevent him from attacking such agents, meaning PM should’ve had an innate barrier against attack Jack.

Troll culture, in a lot of ways, got oversimplified over time. A good example of this is Moirallegiance. When initially introduced, the idea was the one, more calm-minded troll, had a close platonic relationship with a more violent troll for the purposes of keeping said troll’s murderous tendencies in check. By the end, “moirails” basically meant “besties”.

On a related note, on Equius’ introduction, he was disturbingly controlling toward Nepeta, and she even says she’s scared of him, which sorta recontextualizes their whole relationship?

The thing about AH’s authorial intervention not going beyond a yard was the biggest lie in all of Homestuck

Liv Tyler/Terry Kiser’s weapons come out of nothing. Jake retrieves them from the time capsule/seed pod thing, but no one ever puts them in there. At one point Jade tosses a copy of Ahab’s Crosshairs outside her house, and at the time it seemed like that would somehow become the copy Liv/Terry had, but there’s no way that would’ve actually happened.

Post-retcon Vriska isn’t a character. Post-retcon Vriska is an authorial tool that was used to magically solve all the problems (all of them), regardless of whether or not solving said problems would be in line for the previously establish character.

It’s kinda fucked up that Beta Kids’ Jack Noir lives, and ALL the other Jacks die. Like, that is objectively the Worst Fucking Jack. Trolls’ Jack was an ally who they ultimately turned on, exiled, and became Spades Slick, who was just a really cool dude. Alpha Kids’ Jack was classic stabby asshole, but he spent most of the session in jail, doing fuck all, until he got possessed by LE, and was in questionable control over his following actions. The Beta Kids’ Jack was the one that destroyed Prospit, slaughtered WV’s uprising, and murdered 3/5 of the exiles. And THAT’S the one that got to walk away, and start dating Ms. Paint.

For some weird-ass reason, Jade was breathing really heavily while holding Earth in A7. Like, breathing animation isn’t really that pronounced for most of it, but it is there.

Lord English would’ve been totally unaffected by the collapse of the Green Sun. Jade states early on in A6 that the Furthest Ring, despite being the location of The Green Sun, is outside its area of influence. Meaning anything that draws power from it, would be left without power there. Meaning LE was already operating without the Green Sun the ENTIRE TIME.

I know everyone is already in agreement on this, but A7? Still disappointing. It felt like something was still waiting to go wrong, like there was one last curveball, especially with how [S] Collide ended, but nope, everybody lived happily ever after (except not really bc Masterpiece lmao).
