Don't worry about that, the earth caste and Votann contacts we established have experienced difficulty with several unexpected tyranid threats but are currently rebuilding while exterminating the Chimeric beings.

That beings said, while trying to find alternatives to continue to do what good we can, I stumbled upon the potential use of Eldar bone singers. One thing led to another, an unusually friendly xeno, the ramblings of a prophetic psyker and a meeting with something with the appearance of a daemon said to be a shard of something new yet ancient and so on.

While my intention to assist human and xeno alike to find what peace we can durring these dark times has not faltered, my approach has changed for now. For so long I over looked the mysterious yet decaying relms of the Eldar, seeing them as a stubborn will only holding on to what they can and not seeing the irony of our parallel paths. But through their apparent interventions (I will have to look at the possible involvement of their hands in the awakening of that frozen monstrosity) I now find myself at their side.

Something that was never ment to be is unfolding. I am ment to play some part, that of which I do not know and yet, a part that will save as many lives as possible.

So now I find myself with a new task, to find a way to somewhere mortals do not tread. And although I walk with death, I yearn for life to flourish.

For the greater good, for Ynnead.

Hi my name is Yvraine White'scar Ursulia Cronesword Khaine and I have long white hair (that's how I got my name) with white streaks and white tips that reaches my mid-back and icy purple eyes like invisible orks and a lot of people tell me I look like Ynnead (AN: if u don't know who she is get da hell out of here!). I'm not related to Khaine but I wish I was because he's a major fucking hottie. I'm an eldar but my teeth are straight and white. I have pale white skin. I'm also a psyker, and I go to a war in the galaxy where I'm an aeldari (I'm thousands of years old). I'm a dark priestess of Ynnead(in case you couldn't tell) and I wear mostly black. I love Games Workshop and I buy all my clothes from there. For example today I was wearing a black bodysuit with gold armour around it and a long red skirt, a golden headpiece with blue feathers and no boots. I was wearing black lipstick, white foundation, black eyeliner and no eye shadow. I was walking around Ursulia. It was eldar territory so there were no Tyranids, which I was very happy about. A lot of Mon'keigh stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.

i don't really know since i have not played warhammer rogue trader but goddamn just look at him

he's pointy since he's a drukhari. long-ass story short, there used to be a galaxy-spanning species of (very hedonistic) space elves called the Aeldari. eventually they hedonismed so hard that they murderfucked a demon god of pleasure and pain, Slaanesh, into existence

Slaanesh wiped out the VAST majority of the Aeldari population, with what little survivors were left banding together into artificial craftworlds. these are your more typical space elves, the Asuryani. since Slaanesh has pretty much complete ownership of their souls when they die, the Asuryani put the souls of their dead in magic gems that power a lotta their technology.

meanwhile, the Drukhari just decided to. . . not die? i think? they dedicated themselves to Slaanesh, and feed off the pleasure and pain of others to make themselves functionally immortal. they're typically pirates, slavers, mad scientists, all that good stuff.

when they're not out pirating and slaving, they typically hang out in one big craftworld named Commorragh. it sucks

there's a couple other Aeldari sects, the Harlequins (basically Homestuck's Subjuggulators, but more theatrical. worship a big clown god named Cegorach), the Exodites (puritans with magic dinosaurs and crystals), the Ynnari (cultists of the Aeldari God of the Dead, Ynnead, who might be able to defeat Slaanesh), and the Aeldari Corsairs (pirates but not Drukhari)

On Marazhai's brand

I'm new-ish to 40k (my family was into it, so it was the background radiation for my entire life) so imagine my surprise when I learned that it's been around for this long and there is no functional eldar alphabet because the direction of the worldbuilding just hasn't gone in much on linguistics.

A couple of admirable supernerds have compiled various resources on what we DO have. This for grammar, terminology, and just how context heavy the language is:

The Runes used for the aspects and other troop types/concepts. These are the geometric runes that are generally based around the triangle. They are simplified versions of the actual runes that a Warlock/farseer uses to divine the potential futures in a given situation. The are based on the use of the Norse Futhark for divination, although their forms are not nordic.

Eldar script. This is the stuff behind the eldar headers. These have no ascribed meanings, I.e there is no 'alphabet' of them. These are generally cursive and we use them in various places to give flavour, they sometimes include elements from the runes [Which would give them a kanji-like relationship to the runes] and are sometimes more blocky/simplified as on the warning markings on vehicles.

I was just curious and wanted to know if we could build Marazhai's name out of what we do have from these sources. A lot of words beginning in "Mar-" seem to refer to death or death related ideas, and "Zai" is a known name meaning "morning". But there's nothing that I found in a written form for those sounds.

They do have a rune for Ynnead, their god of the dead, which looks like this:

Eldar runes can stand for an idea and not just one letter per sound. If this is their rune for a god of death, I'm making the wild assumption that somewhere in that rune is something that could be read as "Mar-". Since we have no idea how to properly "read" that rune, I just tried looking at their lettering runes for shapes in common with this, ssssort of like how kanji multiradicals work since that was the given example.

(Sort of. Kind of. If you squint at it and look at it sideways, maybe.)

It's a doomed prospect, because once you go looking at the runes, it becomes increasingly clear none of this follows any logic, or maybe it's just logic my simple mon-keigh brain lacks.

So, possibilities for "Mar-":

(Not quite, but close. Chalk up the difference to calligraphy styles, maybe)

(again, only close, but radicals in kanji can look subtly different depending on where in a given character they appear, so I just shrugged and said fine, elf logic.)

As for "Zai", the sun does appear as a pretty recognizable shape in some runes, like these:

Without a linguistics person at GW telling us how to read this stuff, I say we have pretty free rein to figure out what the heck Marazhai burns into our necks. Like, we don't even know if it's read left to right, up or down. So I just made something up as an example, using what I posted above:

Trying for a balance of "relatively easy to burn into a person before they pass out from shock" and "cute", though it is missing the jaggy quality of Drukhari lettering. This is just an idea though, y'all go wild and have fun!

If you are a 40k lorehound and you think I'm W R O N G that's fine, I only got into this hobby a couple months ago. I'm curious if you know more about eldar writing, actually!

I kinda feel like I'm being naive when I say this, but I've always wanted a spin-off for WH where everything ends well, and everyonr gets the ending they need but not necessarily want. The Aeldari awaken Ynnead and Ynnead defeats Slaanesh, the Emperor has died, reincarnated, and is back and is fixing the Imperium, and fuck it I'll even go so far as the Necrons find some way to get biological bodies that aren't crappy, and everyone else gets a happy ending. Grimdark and hopelessness are boring.

I don't think it's a naive thing to want, i think it's an interesting idea to consider what each faction would actually be content with and satisfied and if these can actually be structured in a way that can be achieved peacefully. The tyranids would have to be utterly wiped out. The Necron Blackstone project or Cawl's jury rigging of one would have to be completed to seal away the Warp almost entirely from realspace. The Imperium would probably have to be comprehensively civil war purged from Terra outward even if the Emperor himself came back because the kind of people who rule the modern imperium are not the kind of people he would ever have appointed himself. The annoying thing is that this setting's foundations are based in conflict and most if not all factions institutionally consider themselves the Rightful Rulers of the entire galaxy, so its not like Necrons, Eldar, Tau, or Humans are going to take the L and be like "Never mind, this other species can be in charge". But it's not wrong to consider.

Can we have more headcannons of your one AU with Ruby and Isha?

Sure, so:

1. The whole au takes place over 7 years in the garden, or 7 miliseconds before Mortarion briefly kills mister Robust Govenor and Big E sets Nurgle's garden on fire.

2. Isha entering materium and Ruby being her saviour quite literaly echos across the galaxy, as in roses became a great way to stay off the plague, some Eldar who are actually good people being freed from Slaneash (we will talk about it later), Harlequins sliping during their performances, the harmful mutations going down significantly, Ynnead becoming more active/aware/born, the shards of the shards of Eldar Pantheon becoming recoverable, Big E nose no longer iching, etc.

also they exit on the battlefield that Guliman and Mortarion were dueling... With an crusade worth of people including...

3. Leman Russ, who is also first L in RILL(lilly) who also was stuck fight on the doorstep of Nurgles mansion, not captured but also not being able to move forward. He also can turn into giant wolf deamon form, kinda like Corvus. He basicly carries the team when Ruby is spent.

4. Our divine and semi divine trio picks up the [REDACTED] before the full team frees basicly every single person that was stucked in Nurgle's garden i.e. a 2 craftworlds worth of eldar who wanted to free mom, the space wolves who followed Leman, a lot of unfortunate people who got droped there during the warpstorms including the regiment from the Rebelion of the Men of Iron and Zwei.

5. I decided to make Isha fight Nurgle during the final battle at the gates of the garden, because while Ruby is busy melting said gate with her silver eyes, Leman and [REDACTED] are busy fighting off 6 of Nurgles Exalted Greater Deamons and comabined force of man and eldar are desprertly to slow down 66% OF ALL NURGLE DEAMONS, Isha is showing that she is the Veteran of the War in Heaven and firstborn daughter of Khaine. Imagine said fight as pro Souls-like player fighting the final boss, naked, with first level character. All of that buys Ruby enough time to break the gate and free everyone

6. AND THEN SLANNEASH apears and tries to eat exhausted Isha to which Ruby responded by setting her whole being body and soul on fire and light up like a silver astronomican for a briefest of moments causing She who thirst to hasitate, thus making sure that Isha will have time to flee. Isha decided to not abandon Ruby and decided to risk her whole existence to save her daughter saviour and Slanneash looked her in the eyes and flinched (and with that lost her claim on those eldar who were similar to Ruby i.e. exodites, craftworlders who weren't dicks).

7. Isha healed Ruby via adopting her, as in Ruby becomes the same being that OG Eldaneash and Ulthanesh were (in this au, semi divine twins of Isha and Kuranos). So basicly Eldari primarch except love by their divine parent and geared for the WiH and not Great Crusade. Ruby is not a full fleadged diety (yet), but she is an ironicly asocieted with mental health to Isha's physical health. Among other things.

I honestly can’t help wanting the 40k setting to get more and more insane. Specifically, I want more gods/demigods to reach their full power, because when everyone’s overpowered, no one will be too ahead of the curve, if that makes sense.

- All of the loyalist Primarchs returning to the setting to mess shit up. Yes, even the dead ones.

- All of the traitor Primarchs coming out of the warp to really get the chaos started. Yes, even the dead ones. The dead ones could easily be demons.

- Isha escapes Nurgle’s clutches.

- Ynnead fully awakens.

- The C’tan return to full power; The Deceiver, Nightbringer, Outsider, and Void Dragon. Possibly others too. Being gods of realspace, they begin a realspace version of the Great Game.

- Gork and Mork rampage across realspace.

- The Emperor ascends to the same level as the Chaos Gods and becomes a true player in the Great Game.

I don’t have any more examples, but I’m sure there are more gods/demigods that could really shake up the setting. If there are any that I missed, let me know!

You just sighed at the Corsair Princess Laswell as she was far too fond of what one of her Captains could do... Price was a wild card and it made you just silently beg Ynnead to keep your soul safe for whatever he was going to drag in. You remember Price muttering something about a Drukhari that he owed his life to.

You could only maintain a calm practiced smile as the group of over 40... Aeldari were in the room. You could see Asuryani, Exodites, other corsairs, of course the Drukhari and a couple of Harlequins. You felt your stomach utterly drop as a behemoth of a Incubi was staring you down and you quickly averted your gaze and onto... did Price manager to convince a Dracon? You weren't very sure of what he was but the way he just smiled surrounded by his Kabalites just brought you dread even if he stared right at you.

You just groaned as your eyes rested on an Aledari who was wearing the upper face of a human as he was clearly having his ear talked off by a dancing man around him with a mohawk hairstyle who couldn't help but laugh at his own jokes every so often. You watched Price walk up to you and Laswell and you were unamused as she began to speak. You were just here to look important and to support the Princess and the Captain.

That was until his hands clapped your shoulders as he announced, "And this will be our Farseer." You swear nearly a hundred eyes, give or take some, were suddenly on you... most of them with a predatory gaze and most of them Drukhari. The skullfaced man grabbed the back of the neck of the mohawked man but your eyes quickly darted away as they seemed to catch that you were looking at them. You made the mistake of looking at the Dracon who only started to leer behind his wine glass... no no nope! The Incubi was a safe bet to look at... till he slowly began to cock his head to the side and you just began to feel sick. You looked up at Price again, "Now we take care of our Farseers which means no torture at all. No harming them at all. No nothing without their consent. Do I make myself clear?"

"So... if the hen asked for the torture..." The mohawk one starts before he just laughs as his hair is pulled hard.

Price only shrugs, "That's the whole point of consent. I know it's a new thing for you Drukhari. But I welcome you who were all on the Path of Damnation! Praise Ynnead!"

You nearly jump hearing the rest of them return the call as you just turn away from the Drukhari looking up at Price, "Really... I thought you were just gathering a handful."

"I did but word got around." Price says pulling out a cigar. A vice of his... something he enjoys now that he allows himself some vices.

"They look like they're from two different factions."

He nods, "Two Kabals... SpecGru and Kortac."

"Oh by Ynnead." You just groan as you push a hand to your forehead.

"They'll be fine. We've got some hemonculi! So they'll learn to get along."

"That doesn't solve anything!" You raise your voice as you chase after the laughing Captain.

"Can we play with 'em Ghost?" A drukhari giggled manically.

"Remember what he said about consent... we just have to have so much fun they'll want to play with us." The grim of the pair replied as they soon wandered off.
