wow...... MANY artists take requests randomly. this isn't the original anon, I just saw your post&was blown away by how rude it was. this anon wasn't even rude. artists are always putting out informationals with like guides on how to speak to them&it's the so egotistical&rude&controlling. I literally won't commission random artists anymore&only my close friends bc of these rules that change artist to artist&don't apply to everyone. anon asked you a simple question&was extremely nice about it&you chose to be an asshole in response. y'all act like you're training rabid dogs or something. just, say no, don't answer, or block the anon. like I can't figure out what ticked you off so much about that. talking to ppl like shit won't help them. it will just make people afraid to speak to you at all. anyways lol you're losing a follower&a fan. maybe let your anger out at the gym or something before you take it out on someone asking an innocent question. they truly probably thought "the worst they could say is no" &you proved them wrong. exactly the reason I no longer commission art from artists who aren't my close friends. my anxiety is too high to deal with the anger&your need to control how other people talk to you(even when it's not mean&they're just asking an innocent question).
Good lordt
Mate, I said "no hard feelings just letting you know this ask came across as rude" after we had a bit of a giggle about how funny it is that they hadn't stumbled upon the specific kind of fanart they wanted to see when IMO it's extremely common in the fandom, and then pointed them to another artist who had already drawn what they wanted to see.
"Don't ask/hint at artists to draw you things for free" is not being rude or demanding or egotistical, it's just a firm boundary. It's not a minefield to navigate, and artists who accept random requests usually say so somewhere in their bio/about. I also think blocking the poor anon would've been way more harsh and unnecessary than letting them know how their behaviour was perceived, cuz if they keep doing it, some other artist is going to be way meaner about it.

[id: a digital portrait of a man in profile, from the shoulders up, facing left. he has long dark hair, a small moustache and beard, and a scar across his cheek. he is wearing armour, a white falling band, and a pale blue sash. on the right is a photograph of a gold medal showing the same man in the same position which was the inspiration for the drawing. end id.]

hi doccy. hopefully your askbox is working. i would LOVE to read the edas but. what order do i tackle them in. i've been intimidated by them for over a year send help.
uh oh….. i am also intimidated by them 😭 and my reading strategy isn’t anything special, i am always struggling to find time or energy to read - BUT here’s my best advice:
go through the summaries of the first 10-15 books and sort them by the ones that sound interesting, and the ones you might get stuck on. for the interesting ones, try reading them in physical or digital form; for the ones you kinda wanna skip ……. well. i figured out that the internet archive has a built-in screenreader (with a very robotic voice), and that i could stomach the voice for long periods, so i just listened to them like audiobooks while at work or walking around.
not everyone will be able to tolerate the voice.
i must emphasize that. i can imagine it being very annoying to listen to an entire book that’s been fed through an electric box fan, especially if you have auditory processing delays, but that was my strategy for getting through some of the slowest and least crucial plot lines (imo: the eight doctors, war/legacy of the daleks, longest day, kursaal). to conserve your reading momentum, you can skip these books entirely, or come back to them later.
the ones you’re drawn to - try looking for copies online, either physical (abebooks, thriftbooks, and better world books are ones i check, but you may only find the rarer ones on abebooks, ebay, and mercari) or digital (there are pdfs on the internet archive, and i think i might have some books saved as google drive files? get back to me on that, they might be in the main dw file…. hmm.)
i’m a habitual collector so i’ve been amassing my doctor who bookshelf for a few years, but certain books are touch and go, you never know when another copy will show up. i have ebay alerts on for so vile a sin 🫣 i prefer physical books to keep my attention span and to keep notes - i fill them with color-coded sticky notes for future reference because i’m totally meshuga.
i hope that some of this is helpful, or leads to something helpful. enjoy the many tragedies!!!!

if you see this, you might be a little lost
hello, Syb here, haven’t logged into this account in years, but I’ve noticed this account still get new followers regularly? somehow? how did you even find this place?? XD
my active account on tumblr is SybLaTortue, and yes, it is sadly permanently flagged and I can’t get my cute turtle icon over there and the blog is unsearchable and I have to censor the sexy stuff and it sucks, but I’m not gonna move blog and start posting here unless SybLaTortue gets truly deleted
so like sure, in case of disaster you might find me here, but if you wanna see my art and send me asks on tumblr, SybLaTortue (without the dashes!) is where you’ll find that!
I am also on twitter, where art is posted without censoring (when I post a cropped art on tumblr I’ll always put a link to the twitter mirror) and patreon if you want to support me and see some art months before I post it on here~
