my favorite part about Sherlock Holmes is that there’s a short story where he’s on vacation and a murder happens and he’s off the clock and just snooping. at one point he basically says to Watson, “ok, so I think this substance is a hallucinogenic drug that kills people, but to prove it I need to test its effects. Watson, do you want to do drugs with me?”
My second favorite part is that the immediate response is “it’d be an honor”

Love seeing posts about Animorphs on here simply bc I think KA Applegate deserves the praise. Met her once, she’s a very sweet person.
Picture me, age 10/11. I am abnormally tall. I am very blond. I most definitely have braces and no volume control. I walk up to this acclaimed author at a book signing and immediately start talking about my Warrior Cats fan fiction. My mother instinctively tries to drag me away.
And KA Applegate not only seems genuinely interested, but tells me to keep writing. And for the next two years every time I had writers block I would just go “Katherine Applegate told you to keep writing!” and promptly scribble out the most horrendous stuff known to man.

the problem with sandman regency AUs is that people think Dream is Mr Darcy. He is not Mr Darcy. That man
a) has a huge family
b) develops grudges at the drop of a hat
and c) has never looked into his feelings in his life.
that man is Elizabeth Bennet.

shifting my viewpoint on the good omens fandom but i do wish the whole "theyre not men" thing was not treated as a talking point to minimize queerness, but to maximize it.
yeah aziraphale and crowley are representative of the gay experience, but they're representative of the trans experience too

i really think they ought to have let me make sherlock because i could've done it better. i think sherlock should have been drinking red bull the entire time and i think watson and sherlock should have kept their really weird will they won't they relationship but because sherlock is aro and watson appears to be dating a new person every week and i think irene and sherlock should have been mutually obsessed with each other in the least sexual way possible and since it's modern they should have a podcast where once a week they discuss recent bank heists and why they fail and i think watson and sherlock should discuss cases and the way sherlock evaluates them at drag brunch.

i think to understand doctor who you need to realize that the doctor/companion relationship is typically to some extent defined by the song "best friend" by conan gray in terms of caring for someone who is an absolute gremlin except for twelve and clara who have some sort of wretched symbiosis going on that cannot be defined by any mortal terms

i maintain that angela baker was a scared and traumatized little girl who had reason to believe the vast majority of people of those people were intending to do her serious harm and therefore those murders from her perspective were all in self-defense.

I love that people have the optimism and love in their hearts to believe that Navarro and Danvers are living out the cottagecore lesbian lake house fantasy, but I unfortunately do not. My pessimistic soul finds them far too strange for that. Danvers has a weird Oedipal relationships with one of her coworkers, sleeps almost exclusively with married men, and possesses two (2) personality traits: determination and spite. And Navarro? Navarro has self-respect.
and she errs toward violence in a lot of situations, but somehow that isn’t as important as the first thing.

yellowjackets is good not because it's a horror but because it's a tragedy. its about something so terrifying can be born of something so beautiful. of these girls forming this bond and finding a way to love one another, despite the hell they're in and the one they've put each other in, and how it all got burned down.
and lesbianism, of course.

saw someone saying that they want gabriel and beelzebub back in s3 because they owe aziraphale and crowley an apology, and while this is absolutely true and this person is correct in pointing this out, i want them back for the exact opposite reason.
theyre both fuckin representatives of the system. they havent changed, and i really want one or both of them to express, "no, i don't regret what i did to you." bc even after all this heaven and hell's mottos are both something along the lines of 'look out for number one.' and whether that's heaven or hell or just yourself, it doesnt encourage apologies.
just wanna see what that would do to the ineffable divorcees

sandman friends. somewhere out there in the depths of ao3. there is a fanfiction. no i don't remember the name. it is about desire going through a delirium-esque transformation into a creature of pure apathy that i believe is called dissatisfaction. has anyone seen it.

easily the best part about malevolent is that it takes place in midafternoon. the writers understood that 3pm is objectively the most terrifying time of day.

as a longtime fan of the nimona comic (since i was about nine years old), it has ALWAYS been a queer narrative, as all shapeshifter narratives are, but i really like that they removed the subtlety from it in the movie. queer folks have long been treated as villains but nimona being a trans individual who is treated as a wolf in sheeps clothing. who is regarded as a monster even by the cisgender queer people in her life. who is considered a threat to society even when she is simply existing. who lashes out in self defense and is blamed for all of it. who is the snake in eden.
nimona's attempt at self-sacrifice is a representation of the very real mental health crisis faced by queer (especially trans) youth, because she was a scared little girl who was sad and lonely and angry, and after a thousand years, she still is. she is not (and never was) a monster. she is hurt. that's all she's ever been.
the comic's ending is bittersweet, of course. it is an unaccepting society killing the youth once and for all, so much in denial of queer rage. the ruination of so many people just because of fear. because no one was ever going to treat nimona like a person, or give her full autonomy. because she is in so much pain.
but the movie ending is gonna make me cry because a life of pain is what anti trans pundits want you to believe the life of a trans person is. but there is always joy. there is always beauty. there is always someone who loves you.
so of course she comes back. she is all of us, after all.
