Today was the first introductory session with my ratties. Their cages have been together for about a week, so that they are familiar with each other's scents. They are very curious about each other. With the session I placed them in a neutral territory where neither of them have been. It was quite funny. Ester, the resident rat first sniffed the smaller new rattie, Dumbo. Ester then for the rest of the session tried to escape the territory, whilst Dumbo kept on trying to climb under ester. Ester was mildly irritated by little dumbo but showed no aggression, only tried to get away from her. When ester did shove dumbo away lightly, Dumbo showed instant submission. Dumbo was adopted a month ago from a big colony with lots of brothers and sisters, an she is still a baby, so I think she is glad to have a friend some social interaction, and sees ester as a mother or something of that sort While ester has been alone most of her life sofar. I adopted her 9 months ago, and she has been alone since then. Now that she has been given a new friend, she is quite stubborn and are resistant to forming a bond with the little girl. But I believe she will bond eventually @aboutpetrats
