Personally, I've always perceived Rhaenyra as an entitled brat. That was sort of how she was portrayed in the book. Daemon was pretty nasty as well, as he groomed Rhaenyra. He was teaching her "how best to touch a man to bring him pleasure," if Mushroom is to be believed.

I am inclined to believe Mushroom.

I think most of Rhaenyra's behaviors at Daemon's fault, but I do think that Rhaenyra is mad as she wanted to torture her little brother for calling her bastard children 'bastards'. That isn't sane behavior, and nothing really excuses it. Aemond really was defending himself.

Alicent should have asked for Rhaenyra's boys to be swatted on the hands wooden spoon a good few times, not an eye. (Lucerys should not have had a dagger. Why would a child need a dagger?)

I don't think anyone thought Rhaenyra was still heir after Aegon was born. Viserys literally broke the laws of the entire realm for her.

War was inevitable, and there was nothing Rhaenyra could have done aside from marrying her infant brother.

I don't know if you've been asked something like this before. I also have no idea if the background to my question makes sense, but do you think there was any way Rhaenyra could have become Queen without breaking laws, murdering kin, and or bloodshed?

In a monarchy, which Westeros is and has been for THOUSANDS of years the king's words is the law. Not that of his predecessors, but of the present ruling monarch.

Viserys named his 8 year old daughter as his heir, he varied from custom yes, but never broke law. HE IS THE LAW.

Viserys also broke custom by marrying Alicent, a daughter of a second son and not a ruling lord. A woman that could not give him anything of importance, not money, not a fleet, not any great allegiance. He married her simply because loved her. Being the second time he broke CUSTOM for a woman he loved. Rhaenyra and Alicent.

Even if Viserys allowed his 16 year old daughter to be wed to her 6 year old brother, you think that would prevent war? You people are simply stupid if you think so. Aegon (Otto & Alicent) could easily imprison Rhaenyra and simply put it out as she died, or simply even just end her life. And obviously with their children being young(if they had any, very unlikely) Aegon could crown himself as king rather than prince consort. And do you really think Alicent would let her precious son be king consort to a wanton woman? We see this with Jaehaerys' children Daenerys and Aemon.

The Blacks? Literally many at court more than even the Greens supported Rhaenyra as heir. Even afterwards, during the war Rhaenyra had much more supporters than Aegon, even after her death.

Right, Rhaenyra insisting for Aemond to be questioned sharply is mad but Alicent asking for a five year old's eye to be cut out is perfectly sane behaviour, yes? Be serious right now. Do you really think Viserys out of all people would let his son be tortured? Rhaenyra knew of that, she wanted Aemond to admit that his mother, Alicent has been spreading rumours abt easy as that.

It wasn't just for the insults either, Luke's nose was broken, Jace was hit in the head. And Joff was thrown into dragon droppings.

Afraid that the boy would raise the alarm, Prince Aemond shouted at him to be quiet, then shoved him backward into a pile of dragon droppings.

Aemond fought back, breaking Luke’s nose with a punch, then wrenching the sword from Joff’s hands and cracking it across the back of Jace’s head, driving him to his knees. As the younger boys scrambled back away from him, bloody and bruised, the prince began to mock them, laughing and calling them “the Strongs.”

Jace at least was old enough to grasp the insult. He flew at Aemond once again, but the older boy began pummeling him savagely…until Luke, coming to the rescue of his brother, drew his dagger and slashed Aemond across the face, taking out his right eye.

Aemond was TEN. Jace was SIX, Luke FIVE, Joff only THREE.

A 10 year old Pummeling (= boxing, repeatedly puching) and 6 year old is a perfectly good thing to do.

Lucerys should not have had a dagger. Why would a child need a dagger?

Because this child, is a prince? Almost everyone had daggers at that time, Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, Ladies, Lords, Commonborn, every one had daggers. They carried it for personal protection, even Lucerys.

Не was teaching her "how best to touch a man to bring him pleasure," if Mushroom is to be believed. I am inclined to believe Mushroom.

Even then, if Rhaenyra is such an 'entitled brat' why would she want to please the son of a steward of a Lord. And that too, not even a major Lord. Why would she want to please a no-one that became a someone because of HER.

She was portrayed as spoiled, yes. How could she not be? She came after many miscarriages and stillbirth, many other losses in the family. To her parents she was their first daughter, both of them motherless on their own. To Baelon, she was his first granddaughter after the loss of this wife, son, aemon and the rest of his siblings. To Jaehaerys and Alysanne, she was probably the first great-grandchild they met, she came after they lost most of their children (+Jocelyn who was as good as daughter, Rhaenys and probably never met her children till the feast and tourney of 98). She was a light in a time where her family was sinking from the inside.

I don't know how fighting for something that is yours, and have been for over TWENTY YEARS is seen as entitlement rather advocating and defending her own right?

There is someone who is portrayed as entitled, however. Alicent Hightower. Who thought simply because she popped out the King's son, means he should become a king. And this son who thought simply because he was a man with a cock, he was more fit to rule than a daughter without a cock.

Why should I explain the basic of things to strangers as if they're 5 and lack comprehension? Lol😭

Crowns, Tiaras, Diadems of A Song of Ice and Fire

This is a comprehensive list of every crown, tiara and diadem mentioned in the entirety of A Song of Ice and Fire and related books, because I'm insane. This is a very long post so enjoy.

The Rights of Inheritance

Royal crowns, Tiaras and Diadems are usually inherited by the next monarch and destributed at their whim. Certain crowns in canon are symbolically important, lending credence to a claimant's claim to the throne. During the Dance, the crown of Aegon the Conqueror became of of two relics to confirm Aegon II's right to the throne throne at a time it was disputed. Even during the short Regency of Aegon II, Prince Aemond wore the circlet as an affirmation of his power.

The Fate of Royal Jewelry

Many of the Crowns on this list haven't been seen in a while. I suspect as in royal jewels in real life, many of the pieces have either been sold off to afford wars or lavish livestyles or have been broken down to create newer pieces. It may be that the families are still in possession of these crowns but they have taken a new shape.

Crowns of Westeros

Crown of Aegon I - The Conqueror's Crown

The Conqueror's Crown is an open circlet of Valyrian Steel and large square cut rubies. Aegon's crown was of the trappings of legitimacy for House Targaryen, worn by some of her more martial minded Kings. It's notable wearers are Aegon I, Aenys I, Maegor I, Aegon II, Daeron I "The Young Dragon" and unusually, Prince Aemond for a period during the Dance. The crown was lost in Dorne during the campaign of The Young Dragon.

Crown of Aenys I

The crown of Aenys I was a large, ornate circlet of yellow gold inlaid with pearls and jade. It also depicted the faces of each of the Seven gods. Aenys' crown was worn by Aenys and later, for a time, his son Jaehaerys I. It's current whereabouts are unknown, likely broken up for the gems or kept in storage.

Crown of Jaehaerys I

The crown of Jaehaerys I is an open circlet of gold set with seven coloured jewels to represent the Seven and the Seven Kingdoms. This crown was worn by Jaehaerys I, Viserys I, Rhaenyra I. It was sold by Rhaenyra during the Dance to pay for passage abroad a ship.

Consort Crown of Alysanne

Alysanne's crown is described as a more feminine and slender version of Jaehaerys' circlet. Its unknown if any other Queen Consort wore this crown or where it is now.

Tiara of Rhaenyra I

Described as a jade tiara once owned by the Empress of Leng and gifted by Daemon Targaryen. Worn by Rhaenyra, its whereabouts are unknown.

Crown of Aegon III

The crown of Aegon III is a an open circlet of gold. It was worn by Aegon III, Viserys II and Aegon V. Its current whereabouts are unknown.

Crown of Baelor I

The crown of Baelor was a crown of vines and flowers.

Crown of Aegon IV

The crown of Aegon IV was a large circlet of red gold with each point fashioned into the likeness of a dragon with eyes of gemstones. It was worn by Aegon IV, Daeron II, Aerys I and Aerys II. Current whereabouts unknown, very likely to have been destroyed after Robert's Rebellion.

Crown of Maekar I

The crown of Maekar was described as "warlike". It is an open circlet of red gold with large points of sharp black iron. Notable wearers were Maekar and Jaehaerys II. The whereabouts of this crown are unknown, likely in storage at the Red Keep.

Tiara of Daenerys I

Described simply as a tiara. Gifted by Illyrio of Pentos, worn at the Princess's wedding to the Khal. Its whereabouts are unknown, likely lost after the death of Khal Drogo.

Crown of Daenerys I

A crown featuring three dragons wrought of jade, onyx and ivory, with coils of gold and wings of silver. Daenerys is its first and current owner.

Consort Crown of Hizdahr zo Loraq of Meereen

Described as a gold crown, accompanied by a jewelled sceptre. First wearer and current owner is Hizdahr zo Loraq.

Crown of the Kings in the North

An open circlet of bronze inscribed with ancient runes with nine longsword-shaped points fashioned from black iron. Notable wearers include perhaps every King in the North until Torrhen who offered it up to Aegon. Whereabouts unknown.

Crown of Robb Stark

An open circlet of bronze inscribed with ancient runes with nine longsword-shaped points from black iron fashioned after the ancient and lost crown of the Kings in the North. Robb Stark was the original owner and it has since then been passed through many hands, now in possession of Lady Stoneheart, Lady Catelyn Stark (née Tully)

Consort Crown of Jeyne Westerling

Undesribed, only noted as small. Made for Queen Jeyne and likely offered up to House Lannister after the surrender of Riverrun. Whereabouts unknown.

Crown of the King of the Rock

Description unknown. Surrendered after the field of fire. Notable wearers include the Kings of the Rock.

Crown of the Kings in the Reach

A crown of fresh flowers in peace time and a crown of iron thorns and bronze during ear time. Notable wearers include Garth the Gardener and the Gardener Dynasty. Likely burned to ash on the field of fire.

The Falcon Crown of the Eyrie

Undesribed. Worn by the Kings of the Vale. Handed up to Visenya after the supplication of the Vale.

Sharra Arryn's Regent's coronet and Ronnel Arryn's Small Crown

Both undesribed. Likely the boy King's crown was a smaller version of the Falcon Crown. Both surrendered after the boy King's trip around the Eyrie on the back of the dragon Vhagar.

Driftwood Crowns of the Iron Kings

The traditional crowns of the Iron Kings were created on the ascension of each King and then destroyed after their death, always fashioned out of driftwood.

The Crowns of the Grey Kings

A tall pale crown fashioned from the teeth of the ancient sea dragon, Nagga. Worn by the legendary figure, the Grey King. Whereabouts unknown.

Crown of Euron Greyjoy

Breaking tradition, Euron Greyjoy wears a crown of iron with points fashioned from the teeth of sharks. Euron is the first and only wearer. It's origin is unknown.

Crown of Theon Greyjoy

A slim band of iron set with nuggets of gold and black diamond. It was made for Theon Greyjoy. Its whereabouts are unknown.

Crown of Princess Arianne Martell

Described as a band of copper suns worn across the brow. Owned by Arianne, Princess of Dorne.

Crown of Cersei Lannister

Described as a sparkling crown or spun of pale gold spun with emeralds. Worn by Cersei, origins unknown.

Crown of Cersei Lannister

A crown of gold described as heavy. Worn by Queen Cersei, origins and whereabouts unknown.

Crown of Margaery Tyrell

Described as a slim golden crown. Worn by Margaery, origins and whereabouts unknown.

Crown of Joffrey I and Tommen I

A golden crown of rubies and black diamonds. Worn by Joffrey I, possibly created for him. Worn later by Tommen I though it is said it is too large for him.

Crown of Stannis Baratheon

A crown in the fashion of flames cast from red gold. Made for Stannis and likely currently in his possession sonewhere outside Winterfell.

Consort Crown of Selyse Baratheon

A twin to her husband's, of red gold with points resembling flames. Currently in her possession at the Wall.

Crown of Renly Baratheon

Renly's crown is a circlet of golden roses with the head of a stag carved out of jade arising at his forehead. Made for Renly, whereabouts unknown, likely in the possession of House Tyrell or handed up in surrender to House Lannister.

Placed in the crib of Aegon III, the son of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen. The hatchling was of barely riding age during the Dance of the Dragons. Aegon was his one and only rider.

Not specificed in colour, though it can be assumed that his colouring was the hue of a storm cloud — dark gray.

Stormcloud’s history was short, although the dragon made a profound impact on many lives. During the war, Jacaerys, Aegon’s eldest brother, sent him and his brother, Viserys, off to Pentos to be fostered by the Prince of Pentos for their safety.

The young Princes boarded the ship, Aegon with Stormcloud and Viserys with his own egg. However, it was attacked by warships sailing under the banners of the Three Daughters. Aegon escaped by flying away on Stormcloud, his first flight.

Amazingly, Stormcloud flew back to Dragonstone, with the young Princeling clutching onto his back. He made the journey but was mortally wounded and died within the hour. The young dragon had taken multiple arrows to the belly and a scorpion bolt through his neck.

After the death of his mount, Aegon never flew again.

A Darling among Dragons- Aegon ii fanficton- Part one

So here is part 1!!!!

This is set in the 10-year jump of house of the dragon! Also Viserys and Alicent have had another daughter Raenerys, Hope you enjoy!!

Warning- Incest, sexual references, swearing.

Steam danced its way off the milky water that filled the tub and evaporated into nothing. The Princess watched it disappear from the liquid she had scooped up in her hands. The heavy doors opened in her bed chambers, catching the attention of the two handmaidens in her presence. She did not need to turn to know who it was that had joined them.

‘Leave us’ Aegon’s voice was rough as it left his throat.

Raenerys nodded her head to allow them to leave. The two young girls scurried from the room leaving the prince to undress himself and climb into the tub behind her. The water level rose, sitting an inch below the lip of the tub.

‘Do you ever bathe alone brother? You have made a habit of interrupting me’ Raenerys spoke as she used her hands to spread the warm scented water over her chest and arms.

‘I find bathing alone to be quite dull in comparison’ Aegon answered while moving her long white locks off her back and over her shoulder.

‘You have become sloppy, my hand maidens are sure to tell mother‘

‘Mother can go and fuck herself’ Aegon spat, receiving a sharp look over her shoulder

Aegon leant forward, his chest pressing against Raenerys’ back. He moved his hands along her ribs and round onto her stomach, nestling his pointer fingers underneath her breasts, pressing her into his embrace. A sharp stab caused him to wince as ran his fingers over her soft, damp skin.

‘You have been into the city again’ Raenerys stated as she lifted his hand revealing a splinter embedded in his right palm.

‘I enjoy the simplicity of the common folk’ he winced as his sister used her nails attempting to pull out the small piece of wood intruding in his flesh

‘You enjoy their brothels’ she retorted.

‘Don’t be bitter now sweet sister I have offered my services to be purely yours, but you have refused me’ Aegon muttered, moving his mouth to press against her ear.

Raenerys could not deny that the feeling of his warm breath against her moist skin sent a shiver up her body, her nipples to harden and the hairs on her arms to stand on end. Of course, it did not go unnoticed by Aegon, a grin spreading across his face as the obvious affect he had on his favourite sister.

He had been taken by her for as long as he could remember. He had only been five, seeking his mother when he first saw her, a small bundle in his mother’s arms suckling at her chest. He had not even noticed his other two siblings until they could talk but her, she had captivated him immediately. He remembered feeling this pull to her, like he needed to be in her presence, to keep her safe and happy. Alicent had been completely shocked to watch her disobedient, tireless son so calm. Whenever he was around her Aegon never threw a tantrum or raised his voice, he had just sat with her and played gently. When she had learnt to walk, he had held her hand and helped her toddle around, when she had learnt to talk, he had tried to help her say Mummy, to please his mother. Her first word was Aeg. When she was learning to read, he had sat and sounded the words out with her. Aegon had been there through everything with her and she had not left his side either, not even when he had sat in his self-pity after being told they were to be wed separately to their other siblings.

‘I am promised to another as are you’ she stated matter of factly as she managed to remove the splinter from his hand.

‘Aemond and Haelena want each other as much as I do you. He can have our sister’s cunt it is yours I desire’ Aegon rested his chin against her shoulder, his free hand caressing his sister’s skin softly.

Raenerys submerged Aegon’s hand in the water, the oils and scents filling the small open wound.

‘Ahh’ Aegon winced at the sudden sharp pain and dug his teeth into the flesh of his sister’s right shoulder.

She grimaced a little at the dull pain her brother was causing her but too filled with a sense of pride at causing him this slight discomfort. Aegon pressed himself further into her body in search of a comfort, his arousal becoming more evident the more he pulled her into him. Raenerys eventually slid down into the tub slightly more until she was leant back against her brother’s chest, the rise of her breasts protruding above the water, shiny and slick from the oils in her bath water.

The pair lay in silence for a while, unfolded in the warmth of the water and steam. Both becoming more visibly relaxed and melting into themselves. Raenerys took to playing with Aegon’s fingers that lay on her stomach while his other hand began to wonder her chest. Stopping only when he found her nipple, circling it gently with his finger and pinching slightly. She inhaled deeply and the burst of pleasure shooting down in between her legs. Pushing her chest forward in an attempt to find more of the sweet sensation she unintentionally pushed her behind further into her brother’s crotch, finding erect and pulsing.

Before things could inevitably progress, the princess pushed herself up into a standing position, sloshing water over the sides of the tub onto the floor, stepped out and made her way around the tub to where her robe was hung up. Aegon huffed at the absence of her body against him and followed her as she walked behind him. His eyes roaming her body as they always did when he caught her without clothes. Scanning up her long legs, skin like butter. Her plump behind melting so perfectly into her hips and back. The small beauty spot that sat just inside the left dimple on lower back. Even the way her long silver locks slid along her flesh as she moved to wrap herself in her robe. His mind would replay this moment back for days, she was all he ever thought about.

Aegon watched his sister take a seat at her dresser and begin running her small brush gently through her hair. It was like silk, so fine that the combs of the brush just waded through it unchallenged.

Raenerys faltered slightly in her actions and spun on her stool enough to look upon his face.

‘What are you going to say to father tomorrow?’ she questioned

Aegon did not need to look at his sister to know her face was full of concern for the looming discussion he was set to have with the king. He sighed loudly as his gaze returned to her once again.

‘I am going to say that I have no interest in wedding our sister, that Aemond has much more of a desire for her than I and that if I am to wed and pump my heirs into someone then I want that someone to be you’

‘You have such a way with words brother’ she rolled her eyes and finished combing through her hair.

‘Mother will say that it is Haelena’s birth right to be wed to you, that you are both the eldest siblings’

‘Birth right to what? I am never going to sit the iron throne, I have no claim to Dragonstone since Daemon got that Valareon bitch pregnant, nor do I have any want of them!’ Aegon grumbled as he slid himself a little further into the water that was now growing cooler.

Seeing her sibling sinking into himself and his distaste for their lifestyle, Raenerys moved to kneel next to the tub, her arms folded leaning against the side and her head gently rested on them. Her mauve eyes looking at her furrowed brow and tensed jaw. One of her fingers dropped down to skim across the top of the lukewarm water.

‘You would sit the iron throne, should something happen to Rhaenyra or her children’ she muttered the sore subject gently.

‘Nothing is going to happen to Rhaenyra or those bastards of hers… father wouldn’t allow it and as I said I have not want to sit on the damned thing. I want a healthy castle with some lands and you’ Aegon stated, grabbing her chin to lift her head towards him and placing a soft kiss on her lips.

It was only a short kiss, he removed himself from the tub and waded away from her, completely naked and dripping on the floor as he entered her bedchambers. Raenerys watched him leave the room, feeling defeated with his lack of ambition. She joined him in her bedchambers a few moments later after changing into her sleep gown. Aegon had made himself quite comfortable in her bed, the sheets only covering his lower half.

‘You could at least wear some sleeping attire’ Raenerys glared as she pulled the sheet back to climb in next to him.

‘I will be gone before your hand maidens come to wake you I promise’ Aegon assured her as she settled herself in his arms, her head on his bare chest.

‘Now sleep sweet sister, we have a big day on the morrow’

Aegon placed his lips on her forehead before he lay back onto the feather pillow.

When Aegon III look at Jaehaera, her face, her eyes, I know he saw Aegon II’s face. With Jaehaera, he can’t escape him, he can’t escape his mother’s violent death, he isn’t allowed to think of anything else, he’s forced to revive his olympic trauma over and over again. But with Daenaera, it’s UTTERLY different.

Jaehera dying is the story coming full circle. A greedy and ambitious hand wanting to make his daughter queen started the war but now his line ended by another greedy and ambitious hand who wanted to make his daughter queen. The point is that the Greens didn’t get what they want in the end because someone, one of their supporters, had the exact same mindset as Otto. Karma got to them. The Greens started this entire war to get their blood on the throne and their last chance to get their victory is dashed by one of their own people doing the same thing to them, GRRM is a genius, it’s ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.

Y’all REFUSE to let Rhaenyra have some crubs, it’s so disgusting. The Greens already have their own victory, Aegon II is the one remembered as king and Rhaenyra as an usurper, but he must also have descendants (the Blackfyres I guess) who tries to usurp Rhaenyra’s descendants and grandsons who became kings ??? OUT OF QUESTION, LET IT GO. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

Heavy on this, anon. In fact, let me go back an insert the part about Jaehaera being the green's last botched "chance".

Anon refers to this post I wrote from a person expressing why they thought Jaehaera's death was "narratively irrelevant". And why Daenaera can still be written in without marrying Aegon.

It's true Aegon the Elder is held as one of the kings in the line of monarchs while she is not. That is not bc she usurped Aegon, but because they wanted to discourage the idea and practice of naming women or girls as heirs altogether. It was about female rulership being made into the cause of disaster or conflict, not Rhaenyra necessarily!

I still don't think Rhaenyra is universally remembered as the/a usurper, because by their own vocabulary Rhaenyra can never be a usurper...she was declared heir by the monarch and held as the true heir for years. Gyldayn calls her "Queen" several times and unironically and out of the then-living people's perspective. To be a usurper, you need to violently or unlawfully seize power, which Rhaenyra never ever did. The greens did that.

Once again, Stannis is not a reliable source to judge history, because the man is a walking self-denier and nihilistic user of fear to get his way. In the actual novels, Rhaenyra is thought of a civil conflict more than the direct cause of one through usurpation and "usurpation" itself is never mentioned unless it's Stannis saying so. And yes, Arianne Martell had the right of it, even though she is also using history for her own claims...the difference is that her reading of history and Rhaenyra's position is correct.

The people who want things to be more "equal" or "balanced" bt the greens and the blacks or have the greens have a sort of victory like the blacks just sound really desperate. And for what? For patriarchy to reaffirm itself deeper than ever and more than if Rhaenyra had just been queen?🙄

MASSIVE NEW SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 OF HOTD JUST LEAKED

Following the release of the full trailer for Season 2 of House of the Dragon, Showrunner Ryan Condal spoke about the new season. Condal has confirmed what characters will appear in Season 2 - and what characters will not be appearing.

PRINCE DAERON TARGARYEN WILL APPEAR (it is still unknown who will play him)

"Daeron is a fixture and a character in the show. Do not fret, anybody. All in due time.” - Ryan Condal

PRINCE AEGON III AND VISERYS II WILL NOT APPEAR (it is still unknown who plays them however it is believed that they had filmed their scenes last year)

"Unfortunately we weren't able to focus on all the characters. As with the nature of the show, it is important to focus on the core characters and those who we didn't get to spend a lot of time with last season - Jace, Baela, Aemond, etc. Aegon and Viserys will be mentioned, do not fret. But also given how young they were, it also made it very difficult for filming.” - Ryan Condal

IT IS STILL UNCLEAR WHETHER NETTLES WILL APPEAR IN SEASON 2. IT HAS BEEN RUMOURED THAT SHE MAY NOT APPEAR. HOWEVER CONDAL DID NOT COMMENT ON THIS.
