Do you ever think the dragons get sad that they arent small enough to be held by their riders anymore?
Do you ever think Syrax longs for the days when she and Rhaenyra were young and she could curl herself on her riders shoulders and feel her heartbeat through her skin?
Do you wonder if Dreamfyre ever misses when she was still slender enough for Rhaenas arms to fit around her neck and hold her, when she was still small enough to rest her head in Rhaenas lap and longs to be able to be that close to Helaena?
Do you imagine that maybe Silverwing longs for the days she spent curled around the baby Alysanne as they grew together?
Do you worry if in his last moments of panic and pain, Stormcloud wished he was tiny enough to be carried around and doted on by Aegon iii one last time?
Do you think that as Tessarion died, her mind reached out for the one person she had never known a life without?
Cause i think about it all like a lot.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 | 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝑶𝒏𝒆.
⤷ gender neutral, Valyrian blood (dragon rider), and any size reader. Requests are open, thank you for reading!
a/n: I was inspired by @reiignonme, and I just HAD to do this. I'm so excited to write it. Also, I do know that dragons are aggressive creatures, but to their bonded rider, they're different.
ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ | ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ ᴵᴵ
Tumblr media
𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐍:
・The God of Dragons, is what his title should have been
・But to you, he wasn't the intimidating beast that everyone saw him as.
・To you he was a work of art, a creation so wonderous that your breath hitched whenever you saw him.
・You show your love to him by laying beside him, treating him with respect and dignity.
・You hate leaving him on his own, but you allow him his independence.
・Never in a million years would you put him in the Dragonpit, chained and waiting for you.
・And in turn, he shows you his love by fiercely protecting you. He will fly you anywhere, and calls whenever he's beckoned.
・Only obedient to you, he doesn't listen to anyone else but you. However, it's almost as if he's level-headed and can be reasoned with.
・The other dragons fall in line and let him lead - which means you're the leader as well.
・His roar is earth-shakingly loud. And it can be heard from miles away.
・All of your subjects bow to you, knowing your power.
・Because we know, that a dragonrider has the same traits as their dragon.
Tumblr media
𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐗𝐄𝐒:
・Is quite the adventurous dragon; she isn't one to be paraded around like Silverwing or Dreamfyre. She rather dislikes large crowds, preferring mountainsides and flying over oceans. She doesn't like small spaces either.
・Bonding with Meraxes was like bonding with a Border Collie - always has energy and curiosity
・But unlike Quicksilver, Meraxes is less energetic in a comic sense. She's more mature; more battle-worn.
・Will protect you unrelentingly.
・Hates sudden loud noises
・But loves hearing how much you love her and how much of a good job she's done
・Her teeth are smaller than the other dragons, but more pointed/sharp and there's more of them
・Her roar is also more high pitch and of a scream
・Meraxes' scales are pearlescent and seem to move in the sunlight
・Not many people know that, because she doesn't like being approached by others.
・That's why she isn't kept in the dragonpit.
・But she isn't as aggressive as Vermithor or the Cannibal
・You can tell that she wants a mate though, and often tries to woo Balerion - but he wants none of it.
Tumblr media
𝐕𝐇𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐑:
・She shows her love by waiting for you to sit on her saddle before taking off.
・You have to shout out the command to fly and then, she takes off.
・You have a very special bond with Vhagar, which clicked into place because you would spend more time looking after her than making her fly.
・For example, talking to her, brushing/washing her, stroking her face.
・For those who don't think dragons understand - you're wrong because they really do. That's why some riders have a bigger bond than others.
・Some just see their dragon as an animal, as a beast. But those that see them as apart of them, that's when the true bond clicks into place.
・And you knew that being pampered is everyone's dream - or just being doted upon. So, because you put in the hours for her, she does the same for you.
・She obeys your commands without question, because she trusts you.
・But she doesn't like anyone else touching her, in fact there's a few trainers with burnt hands because of Vhagar.
・She loves laying in the sun, and will fly you to a beach to lay in the sand. Often you're chastised by your family for bringing sand into the castle.
Tumblr media
𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐕𝐄𝐑:
・LOVES TO FLY
・She's the type of dragon to be like, "let's go faster! let's go faaaaasteeeer!"
・Isn't as aggressive as others, but would rather be away from people if able.
・Hates being paraded around
・But will do it if persuaded with food and belly rubs (although most dragons don't like to expose their stomachs as it is one of their most vulnerable body parts)
・When you introduce her to a friend or acquaintance, she does a big roar and then huffs a laugh at the person's scared response
・One of the more docile dragons like Silverwing
・Has similar colouring to Meraxes, but unlike her, Quicksilver is smaller but nimbler.
・One of the fastest
・Can beat anyone in a race
・And she LOVES to race
・Has to be ridden everyday otherwise she goes hyperactive and will lash out at the trainers
・Once when you were bedridden for a week, she flicked a whole group of trainers with her tail and then let out the biggest flame she had ever expelled.
・Tail flick = I'm irritated, Roar = I'm hungry or is trying to scare someone for a laugh, Fire = she is actually angry, Baring her teeth = scared
Tumblr media
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐁𝐀𝐋:
・No one is allowed to approach him, hell no one is allowed to look at him.
・He's an incredibly aggressive and temperamental dragon. One that hates everyone but you.
・Completely black, he's known for eating other dragons - which makes him an outsider. No dragon, no matter how mighty, doesn't feel safe around him
・Even Balerion keeps his distance
・You weren't sure whether to keep his name or not, since you did have an emotional connection with him.
・But you guessed that he like being intimidating
・You have to feed him yourself or he will go hunting for dragons or sheep. Hasn't actually eaten a person, but has killed many.
・As he's your bonded dragon, people are a lot more intimidated by you. Since dragons and riders have somewhat similar traits.
・Although he does like showing you his den. He looks at you like, 'it's nice, isn't it. Did you see the bones I placed at the front? Yeah...it's to scare people off...'
・You see him differently than others see him. You aren't afraid of him. It's how you were able to bond with him in the first place.
・There was something in his eye that you thought was vulnerability, rather than hostility.
Tumblr media
𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑:
・His favourite form of physical touch is being scratched, like, really really scratched.
・Vermithor's back leg will wobble in absolute delight
・Especially when you get to those places where he cannot reach himself
・Doesn't like anyone but you doing it (or anyone but you being in the room when you do it)
・He's a very private & grumpy boi. Doesn't like being woken too early either. And likes to have an afternoon nap.
・And an angry/aggressive one too. He doesn't like being woken up early, and once you had to dodge out of his firing line. When he realised it was you, he made a really long upset face (that only you and his only other rider, Jaehaerys has seen)
・But he's incredibly loyal, and would die for you.
・What's important to you, is important to him (unless it's before 8am)
・Can sense when you're overwhelmed and will let out a huge roar so no one comes near
・Likes when you fall asleep with him. He may like his solitude, but he doesn't mind company (it depends on the company)
・Actually likes doing royal processions because he gets to show off how big and scary he is. He knows it's too remind the people of whose in charge.
Tumblr media
𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆:
・The least aggressive out of all the dragons (but that doesn't make her a formidable foe.)
・It's almost as if Silverwing understands that dragons keep people in line, but an approachable dragon keeps the respect and admiration of the people
・If she's patient and sociable with others, then you know damn well she has all the love, patience and affection for you.
・She shows her affection by nuzzling into your open palm, her eyes closed and you swear her lips are in the shape of a smile
・Wherever you are - standing alone, or in a crowd etc., she has her body wrapped around you; shielding you.
・And when you're alone together, she'll lay down and let you rest with her, and/or on her. Then, she'll fully wrap around you to help you warm up.
・She absolutely loves spending time with you. Funnily enough, she's a very outgoing dragon.
・She won't let you come into any harm though. Either because she herself has placated the people who could hurt you (the common people) by interacting with them calmly and gently.
・And if anyone tries to hurt you, she's the first to react. Although her temperament seems calm, she is highly protective of you and will burn someone to ash if they try to hurt you.
・When you're in King's Landing and the King demands that Silverwing be put in the Dragonpits, you sneak down to sleep with her. You have a very tight bond.
・Otherwise, she takes you somewhere else to sleep; amongst the grass, so you can fall asleep underneath the stars.

Hello! This is a blog primarily focused on making animal books (mainly Xenofiction) more accessible to those who can't get them legally (or don't want to support the creators)
I've made two separate drives that contain A LOT of pdfs of said books, such as Warrior Cats, Wings of Fire, Ratha's Creature, Watership Down, Survivors and many more you can see on this list
You can ask for the links through messages or comments!
Tumblr media
More details about this under the cut!
Why not share the drives here?
Well, the last time I saw someone do that, the links got taken down, so instead I'll be sharing them through DMs!
Also, don't be shy to ask any questions.
There are two drives, the Main Books drive, and the Mature Books drive (which is mostly still a work in progress)
Please, specify if you want access to the mature books drive, and only ask for it if you're 18 years old or older, I will be checking if you have your age/age range in bio, if you don't have it, you can also say you're an adult when asking for it. (It's not a foolproof system, I know, but It's not like I want to ask for personal details)
The main drive has books that range from Family friendly to other series with an age rating of +13 or +15.
The mature books drive has animal books that have a lot of content not appropriate for minors, such as animal mating scenes, uncensored slurs and a lot of other dark topics. (Just because there's animal heat scenes doesn't mean that I condone the enjoyment of said scenes, if I see someone claiming to be zoophile wanting access to the drive, they will be blocked on sight) (This is not a safe space for anyone attracted to animals in such ways)
(I usually censor slurs before uploading the PDFs, but this time around, because of my own triggers, I haven't checked the contents of them and left the books the same as they were upon release, including slurs) (just because I left them intact, does not mean I agree with the usage of said words in the context of the books, which is why I added warnings for each slur in a document inside the drive) (I've personally censored every slur I've found in the books of the main drive, however)
For reference, this drive has books like Ratha's Creature and One for Sorrow, Two for Joy.
ALL BOOKS IN BOTH DRIVES HAVE A DOCUMENT LISTING ALL TRIGGER AND CONTENT WARNINGS FOR EACH SERIES.
The trigger warnings were sourced from book reviews and pages focused on giving content warnings.
Here are other questions you may have:
Can I share the link once I have it?
Yes! As long as you don't share it in public internet spaces (comments, public posts, open discord servers with huge amounts of people) it should be fine. I would love to make it public, however I also don't want it to get taken down minutes after sharing, which is why I'm limiting it to private links.
Can I take the PDFs from the drive and use them on my own drive?
Of course! The entire point of this is to make these books more accessible! Take whatever you need from here!
Have a nice reading! I will keep giving out the links for as long as this post is still up (or gets taken down or something happens to me lol)

“Thrice I flew Silverwing high above Castle Black, and thrice I tried to take her north beyond the Wall,” Alysanne wrote to Jaehaerys, “but every time she veered back south again and refused to go. Never before has she refused to take me where I wished to go. I laughed about it when I came down again, so the black brothers would not realize anything was amiss, but it troubled me then and it troubles me still.”
- Queen Alysanne Targaryen

Canadian Cartoons Are Great
Tumblr media
Today, the popular cartoon YouTuber Saberspark uploaded a video talking about the infamous “fart episode” of the 2023 Total Drama series. The comments were filled with hatred and generalizations towards Canadian animation. These terrible comments are not the fault of Saberspark, but it is true that the “big users” in the cartoon community are (mostly) Americans who spread myths and stereotypes about Canadian cartoons. This has bothered me and a few others for quite a while, so here, I’m going to prove why Canadian animation is great, actually, and dispel common misconceptions
All Canadian cartoons are about fart jokes - if you say stuff like this, you clearly have never seen a Canadian cartoon outside of Total Drama and Johnny Test. That’s like if I said “all anime is naughty tentacles” or “all American cartoons are about anvils falling on your head.” And don’t act like your precious USA cartoons and anime are exempt from toilet humor. One example of an anime with toilet humor is Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt - their first episode was about a monster made out of shit. And we all know about the gross out cartoons such as Ren and Stimpy.
Canadian cartoons are cheaply mass-produced because of CanCon - No. What CanCon ACTUALLY states is that a certain percentage of content on a Canadian channel has to be Canadian-made. The policy is about supporting Canadian art, not “mass-producing” cartoons, since this applies to ALL Canadian TV and radio content, animated or otherwise.
Now, let me tell you some reasons why Canadian animation is actually great
Some of your childhood shows, such as Arthur, Franklin, and Little Bear are Canadian in origin.
Some of the most acclaimed cartoons within the cartoon community, such as Ed Edd n Eddy and MLP:FIM, were both animated in Canada and had voice actors from there (same talent pool, in fact - Vancouver)
Inspector Gadget and the Beetlejuice animated series helped keep good animation afloat during the 80s. In a decade full of uninspired and insipid cartoons, these were two of the highlights.
Canada is still a great place to outsource animation, as proven with the works of Nelvana, Mercury Filmworks, Jam Filled, and countless others.
If you grew up without cable, you probably watched PBS Kids and/or Qubo a lot. Guess what - lots of the shows on both of those channels were Canadian. For example: the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch: Timothy Goes to School, Seven Little Monsters, Marvin the Tap-Dancing Horse - these shows are all Canadian! Qubo was also home to Jane and the Dragon, Jacob Two Two, Babar, Spliced, etc - they’re all Canadian too.
Because Canada’s censors are far more lax compared to American ones, Canada has made huge strides in teen and adult animation. Such shows include Total Drama, 6teen, Detentionaire, Undergrads, Producing Parker, etc as well as the movie Heavy Metal.
Also because of the lax censors, Canadian cartoons had positive LGBTQ representation far before the United States did. One episode of 6teen has a character stating “I’m gay,” and in Braceface, the main character assists her gay friend in finding a boyfriend. Unsurprisingly, these episodes never aired in the US.
6teen also dealt with periods before Turning Red, Baymax, and Molly McGee did it (again, the episode was banned in the US).
Finally, here are a few Canadian cartoons I recommend, and where to watch them:
Cybersix (it was a Canadian and Japanese co-production). The whole thing is on TMS’ YouTube channel.
Redwall is on Pluto, and there are episodes of it on YouTube courtesy of Treehouse Direct
Toad Patrol (unfortunately you’re gonna have to resort to low quality YouTube uploads)
Silverwing - again, the complete series is on YouTube
Detentionaire- On Tubi and Pluto!
Ruby Gloom is a great show if you like cute gothic stuff; it too is on Tubi and Pluto
The Adventures of Sam and Max: Freelance Police - on Tubi
One of my favorites, The Raccoons. Basically the Canadian equivalent to The Simpsons, and with a banger ending song. The show’s production company has uploaded episodes of it for free on YouTube.
The original Clone High was animated by the legendary Nelvana (if you’re wondering, the new season is not outsourced to Canada 😔) It is on Paramount Plus and HBO Max
Undergrads - yet again on YouTube, in low quality unfortunately. Like Clone High, it was on MTV.
I also recommend watching some short films from the National Film Board of Canada. My personal favorite is the Log Driver’s Waltz.
Tl;dr - American cartoons are not bad because of Allen Gregory, anime is not bad because of Pupa, and Canadian cartoons are not bad because of Johnny Test or fart jokes.

When Dragons Disobey Their Riders
Hi all! I wanted to comment on something that recurs in both Fire and Blood and A Song of Ice and Fire: Instances of dragons blatantly disobeying their riders, often even after multiple attempts by their riders to correct them. If you look at the context of the scenes where this occurs, I think it actually does a lot to show us the level of intelligence and agency that dragons have. Most importantly, in all of the scenes I'm about to discuss, the dragon is not disobeying their rider out of malevolent intent. They are actually trying to protect their rider, and think that their rider is making a request that would put them in danger.
Our first mention of this is with Alysanne Targaryen and her dragon Silverwing, in Fire and Blood. Alysanne is up North, by the Wall, and attempts three separate times to direct Silverwing north of the wall, but Silverwing refuses each time. Some people think Silverwing was wary of the cold, but I think this is unlikely since otherwise she would have refused to come that far north entirely. I think it's much more likely that Silverwing knew some freaky magic was going on beyond the Wall, and that it could be very dangerous for her rider.
Our second mention of this is with Area Targaryen and her dragon Balerion, in Fire and Blood. On her first ride with Balerion, Aerea disappeared for over a year, and both rider and dragon returned severely injured. Aerea's illness in particular was just straight up terrifying and very gorey, and she eventually died from it. Because of this, it's suspected that Balerion actually took Aerea to Old Valyria and that they encountered some freaky magic there. At this point in time, Aerea was trying to escape and go home, and there's a popular theory that Balerion, doing his best to obey her request, took her to the place he thought of as his home.
Our third mention of this is with Lucerys Velaryon and his dragon Arrax, in Season 1 Episode 10 of HotD. When dragon and rider are being pursued by a much bigger dragon, Lucerys is unable to calm Arrax down, and he attacks, which eventually leads to both of their deaths. Arrax is quite young, and he very obviously did this because he was feeling cornered and threatened, and felt like he had to defend himself and his rider.
Our fourth mention of this is with Aemond Targaryen and his dragon Vhagar, in the same episode, right after Arrax's attack. If you go back and look at GIFs of what this attack actually presented as, note the side the attack came from. Arrax flames Vhagar's entire head, and he does it from her left side-- the same side where her rider is blind, specifically because Arrax's rider blinded her rider. It's no wonder Vhagar retaliated; she felt that her rider had been attacked in a very vulnerable place by the same person who made her rider vulnerable and never demonstrated remorse for doing so.
Our fifth and final mention of this is with Daenerys Targaryen and her dragon Drogon, in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. For those of you who watched Game of Thrones, I'm talking about the scene in Mereen where Drogon rescues her from the assassination attempt in the fighting pits. Daenerys wants to remain in Mereen and continue to try to handle the conflict there, but Drogon ignores her commands and flies far off into the wilderness. As far as Drogon's concerned, Mereen isn't safe for Daenerys, so why should she want to stay there?
I think these instances all point to dragons being intelligent, but not enough to really understand politics--that, or they don't care. Vhagar doesn't understand or care that killing Arrax and Lucerys will cause a war; just as Drogon doesn't understand or care that Daenerys wants to remain in Mereen to rule. They prioritize their riders' wellbeing and demonstrate that they don't always think their riders know best. This makes a ton of sense especially for the older, more experienced dragons, who probably had to make more decisions during combat in order to keep their riders alive rather than just waiting for commands.
