making a rehearsal dinner invitation
Tumblr media
My goal is to look like a language textbook!
The struggle with the whole wedding process is to not go the "insta-worthy," "conventional," boring route of like....posting "the engagement" or having a website designed by wix. However I can't help but use evite for the rehearsal dinner

I recommend reading aviation safety.net but maybe not if you have a big fear of flying

Sayonara, Business Casual!

My co-op was 3 rotations long. For some reason, I packed away my hat, but I still had a huge drawer full of t-shirts that I never wore because they were too informal for work.
But because I'm at school again for at least another year, MY HAT RETURNS!

Seeing at least three Statics/Statics-related professors drawing intentional little hatches underneath objects and beam supports made me think that someone told them to do it that way. I mean...it's cool and all. Good job, guys. You are on your way to making things look like things, AKA Art.
(It also reminds me of the fad amongst middle schoolers in the 90s where everyone was drawing the really cool 3-D looking S - you had to have someone show you it could be done, and when you finally learned it, it just blew your mind how cool it looked on paper that you just had to draw it every opportunity you got)

Unrealistic Ideas about School
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I get excited when thinking about starting a new semester
BUT THEN I REMEMBER....
I haven't been at school for around 6 months because of my co-op, and during that time I wasn't doing anything involving math or science at all (I mean...most of my work at Airline was logic and systems based, the most objectively sciency-thing I had to do was follow the lines on a wiring diagram)
Meaning I've forgotten everything! Ahh! Panic!

Vacation crazies
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh no, I have a vacation again
I have set myself a project of redoing some stuff in my house. But the thing is I when I don't have a structured day (a structure driven by outside forces, such as work or school) I get a little bit in my own head. I've always been pretty restless and driven to work/create (for reference, see my 400+ page webcomic, Lust for Freelance).
Ever since COVID, though, I've unable to create and follow structure by myself.
Anyway.. I like vacation
but I could use it in some useful way instead of constantly telling myself I'm squandering my time off by doing whatever it is I'm doing

Big V and Little v
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We finally got to Rotorcraft in my Vehicle Performance class and suddenly were hit with this nonsense. (Rotorcrafts are helicopters and things of that nature.)
Who thought it was a good idea to name both (very different variables with different implications) V?!!??!
To those who may be curious, this is a part of Actuator Disk Theory, where "big V" represents the velocity of ALL of the air that is flowing into the rotor blades a helicopter and "little v" represents the velocity of only the air that is crossing the rotor blades through a control volume. Very different implications for both variables. These are things that will literally kill a person if you don't have them straight.*
*ok not totally true cause this is all back-of-the-envelope design-phase calculation, but still.

not even the internet can help you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hate making crib sheets. Just give us a goddamn formula sheet if we need one! Crib sheets take time away from useful review (such as solving sample problems and thinking back on concepts) and give horrible hand cramps. Your crib sheet is only a testament to how small you can write and NOTHING ELSE.
One thing I love is when professors allow a test to be totally open-note. This means that you actually learned something in their class that can't just be looked up easily online. But it also means the test isn't just going to be regurgitating formulas -- oh no. It's gonna actually involve your thinking brain. Those are good tests, those are good classes.
(fun fact...the professor for my class that has an open-note final actually has a beard like that)
