something happening on a mission, something personal that has soap spiralling; panic and rage making him reckless, thoughtless, and ghost has to draw the line
“you’re compromised johnny; you know what that means?”
“you’re not pulling me out,” soap immediately snarls. he turns on him and ghost barely recognises him; venomous fear turning his eyes to unyielding ice. "you're not sidelining me; i need to be in this-!"
but ghost has never been afraid of venom; spat or dripped straight from bared fangs.
he snakes out a hand grip the back of his neck, jerking him in a rough shake. "if you can't think, you can't be a soldier," he growls and he flinches like he's been struck.
his lips quiver as they twist in a sneer and he wrenches, trying to free himself of his hold.
ghost doesn't let him.
"it means you give your body to me because your head ain't fucking attached to it anymore."
soap stills, body trembling beneath his hand as he sucks in shaking breaths.
he tightens his grip, pulling him closer and digs his forehead hard into his. “it means you give yourself to me so i can have the weapon that you are and use you the way you're meant to be used."
the ice in soap's eyes fractures.
ghost’s voice drops to a whisper, spoken only to johnny, not this facade of vengeance and pain, and wills it to reach him through the glaciers.
“so i can keep you safe ‘til it’s done and i can bring you back.”
#in my head its bc graves abducts his sister and is using her as hostage to draw him out knowing ghost will always follow him#but the intensity and intimacy of saying ‘you cant trust your mind not to betray you so let me be in charge of your body until you can’#after what happened to tommy he could never deny johnny his right to save his sister#but its bc of what happened to tommy that he knows he cant let him do it alone with only his rage to guide him#hes more likely to get himself killed and ghost wont live through that#so he has to balance it#and the only way he knows how is to completely shut down soap’s mind until hes no more than instinct and muscle memory#if he cant think practically then dont let him think at all#reduce him to a place where he can only follow orders#and when its finally over and his sister is safe and graves is dead#only then will he drag johnny back up to the surface#he’ll do it even if it means dragging him kicking and screaming back to humanity#instead of letting him sink in the depths where nothing hurts. theres no fear down there. no pain. only order#and thats the risk ghost took sending johnny to that place but he only did it bc he would stop at nothing to bring him back#and help him through the after#the breakdown. the rush of panic and rage and relief and anguish johnnys been supressing on his order#it was his word that turned johnny into a ghost#and its his touch that brings him back to the man#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#we’re a team. ghost team#cod#soapghost#ghostsoap#ghost x soap#ghoap#simon ghost riley#ghost cod#john soap mactavish#soap cod

Chapter II. Flashback to a Different Start
It was close to Christmas and Dutch couldn't stop thinking about how Jimmy had come crashing into his life... he couldn't help but smile at the flashback.
Jimmy remembered that Christmas like this:
"Okay, when I said 'Ugly sweater,' I completely didn't mean that... that's really ugly... that's like ugly grew up and married ugly and made a baby with ugly... you see where I'm going man?" Dutch greeted when the other Cobra's entered his house. — Dutch had been his completely asinine self.
"But, I like this sweater..." James Jones had muttered shyly as he glanced around, falling into step with his best friend, Bobby Brown, who had shot him a quick glance and smile "It's nice man, it's a nice sweater, that's just Dutch being Dutch, an asshole... but a love-able one," Jimmy shrugged "It's a piece of crap actually, it's real worn and everything, it belonged to my dad..." "And I can obviously see that the man had Great taste," Dutch stated sarcastically before nodding at the dark haired boy "What's your name again?" "James, James Dean Jones," curse his shyness, he couldn't even make eye contact. — He had been terrified to make eye contact with Dutch.
Dutch had nodded stiffly and sucked on his lower lip "I'm not calling you all that... I'm gonna call you Jimmy. You good with that?" Jimmy grinned "Fine by me, oh, and what kind of name is Dutch anyway?"
The taller one in the group with the sandy hair looked up from playing soda pong with a blonde boy "That's just a nickname I gave him..." Dutch nodded "Tommy's right, my actual name is Jan Van Der Linde, but Tommy decided to just call me Dutch and it stuck, just like my annoying friend here," "Well I know what I am, but what are you?" Tommy shot back as he laughed and Jimmy smiled, instantly liking the sandy haired boy, Tommy.
Jimmy was just settling into a comfortable argument about the inconsistencies in the Star Wars universe, with Bobby Brown, when he felt a hand reach out, scrabble along his wrist, and take the piece of mini pizza from his hand...
"HEY! Who did that!?"
"You know if you feed him, he'll never leave you alone... it's kind of a curse." He met eyes with the blonde who introduced himself as Johnny Lawrence, as he snatched the pizza back from Tommy and handed it to its rightful owner.
"Thanks." Jimmy playfully glared at Tommy who shrugged "You weren't eating it, it was staring at me, man,"
The charismatic blonde shot him with a smile "You seen Gremlins?" Jimmy grinned politely "Yeah, hasn't everyone?" He shuddered, half joking when he said "I hate the blender scene..." Johnny chuckled and gestured with his thumb at Tommy "That there is a Gremlin to put all other Gremlins to shame... that's Tommy Cole by the way, don't feed him or he'll stick to you like glue..." Tommy grinned and stuck his tongue out at Johnny "I'm rubber, you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you..." he stated childishly and Jimmy couldn't hold in a laugh which turned into a burst of loud laughter as Tommy rewarded him with a innocent smile.
Halfway through the party and Tommy announced loudly that he thought Dutch had done a disservice to the Christmas Holiday by not hanging Christmas lights.
So that's how Jimmy found himself on the roof of the Van Der Linde's house with an overexcited Tommy and a bunch of Christmas lights they were unwinding.
"You should really come with a warning label." Jimmy muttered as he caught Tommy as the other youth slipped and almost fell off the roof.
"I will ignore you so hard you will start doubting your existence." Tommy chuckled softly and kept stringing the lights over the house while Jimmy laughed and quirked an eyebrow up playfully and opened his mouth, liking how he could suddenly banter so easily with Tommy, forgetting his shy nature completely, he whistled a little, teasingly "Everyone's entitled to act stupid once in a while, but you really abuse the privilege."
Tommy glanced over and sent him a mischievous smile "If I threw a stick, you'd leave, right?"
Jimmy shrugged, feeling like ribbing another person was actually fun "woah man, light travels faster than sound which is why you seemed bright until you spoke. You might wanna do light a favor and stop talking..." Tommy playfully punched his shoulder which sent both of them sliding off the broken tiles of the roof.
When Jimmy's eyes flashed open, he saw Tommy was hanging upside down, suspended in Christmas lights. With a struggle Jimmy managed to tug himself up onto the safety of the roof and called out for Dutch or anyone else for help. After getting Tommy back up and down to the ground, it was not easy explaining what had happened to the bleached blonde who was furious at them.
He stood there with his arms crossed over his chest "Good story, but in what chapter do you both shut up?" He muttered loudly and glared "It's really good you both weren't hurt... I'm too drunk to drive just any blockhead to the hospital," he sighed and ushered them inside after they admired the lit up exterior.
Tommy had nodded to that comment Dutch had made and smirked “Yeah? I guess you gotta wait to drive yourself then, cause you are one special blockhead...” that comment had landed Tommy a one way ticket into oblivion as Dutch started throwing snowball after snowball at him while Jimmy dodged around and had managed to dump a huge amount of snow on Dutch’s head... earning himself a closer view of the bleached blonde as the guy had decided to tackle Jimmy and hold him down while he pelted the other’s face with snow and straddled him... the kiss had come unexpectedly and Dutch had denied its existence straight after. They had gone back to staring at the decorations, Jimmy reeling from the kiss that ‘never happened’ but totally had.
Dutch frowned "Hmmm, doesn't look half bad..." he stated before tugging the other two into the house in what would become a Christmas to remember.
He had been silently impressed by the decorating skills. (End flashback)
Dutch remembered it differently... but — no, he couldn't...
anyway, this Christmas would be badass... something caught his eye
Looking up, he noticed Jimmy hanging Christmas decorations with Tommy and Bobby, and thinking nothing of it, he walked past.
Well, he couldn’t admit to himself that he’d been staring at... nooooooooo.
Tommy, being the bat out of hell crazy chaotic, as usual, decided to help his shy friend out and kicked the ladder out from under him, Jimmy falling off the top rung, a terrified scream coming from his lips.
Dutch turned and got over there, just in time to catch Jimmy in his arms.
There was a moment of stunned silence before Dutch rolled his eyes "Why does it seem that I'm always saving you from falling?" He laughed
Bobby ribbed Tommy in the side "What the hell are you doing?" He stated angrily in a whisper while Tommy played at innocence "Just playing Secret Santa..." Tommy stated innocently, even though there was that twinge again like he’d been hurt... he forced a smile, twirling Bobby around on the desk chair he was on as he decked the other boy in tinsel, leaning close to his ear “Merry Christmas Bobby,”

Happy new year! Let me know if you’d like to be tagged in this fic!

            Johnny Dogs met them half a mile from the Lee’s campsite. He carried a pole with a white scarf tied to the top. “I got you ten minutes with her.” He clarified.
            Kate stepped out and gave Tommy a concerned look. “Are you walking me into a war zone, Mr. Shelby?”
            “They respect the white flag.” He responded, neither confirming nor denying.
            She sighed and shut the car door. “Well, at least I’m never bored when I’m with you, Tommy Shelby.”
            He pulled out a cigarette, shrugged and began walking.
           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
            Once the camp came into view, Kate said a prayer under her breath. Rumors told her that the Lees were not to be messed with. But it seemed that’s exactly what Tommy was doing.
            People eyed them as they wove their way through vardos and fires. Kate couldn’t help but notice some of the men holding guns or clubs. Their menacing stares followed them but they didn’t advance. Maybe Tommy was right about the white flag. It kept them at bay.
            Eventually, they stopped at an intricately painted vardo. Johnny knocked on the door with the end of the pole while another man opened the door for them.
            “Stay out here,” Tommy spoke quietly to Kate.
            She raised an eyebrow. “You brought me all the way out here to stand around while you conduct business behind closed doors?” She hissed in disbelief. “Could’ve been doing a million other things right now.”
            Instead of explaining his reasoning, Tommy stepped up into the wagon and shut the door behind him.
            “Unbelievable,” Kate muttered under her breath and took a seat on the steps.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            After negotiating with Zilpha regarding Billy Kimber and a betrothal, Tommy reached into his pocket for a cigarette.
            “What about the girl?” Zilpha asked in their native tongue.
            “Which girl?” Tommy asked as he struck a match.
            The matriarch nodded toward the door. “The American.”
            “She’s one of the clever minds I’ve collected.” He replied. “She’s my in with the American market. Should our alliance go well, I’ll share the wealth.”
            Zilpha just laughed a bit sarcastically. “You’re biting off more than you can chew, chavi. What happens when this all catches up to you? How long do you think you can run from the devil before he catches you?”
            “I’ll worry about that when he catches me.” Tommy stood and stepped back outside.
            Kate lifted her head when the door opened. “Oh, thank God, these men will not stop staring at me.” She glanced over at some of the Lee men who had kept a steely eye on her and Johnny. They hardly flinched, staying almost as still as soldiers, their hands never leaving their rifles. “I was afraid they were going to start using me as target practice.”
            Tommy offered a hand to help her stand up from the steps. “All’s well now.” He assured her and began walking back toward the car with Johnny.
            “Well, I was never meant to be involved in this. I told you the information I would give you and you’ve been yanking me ‘round trying to do other little odd jobs.”
            Tommy looked a tad amused. “Don’t think I would want to see you try to break in a horse.” He replied.
            Baffled, Kate stopped in her tracks. “What on Earth is that supposed to mean?” She threw her hands up.
            Johnny and Tommy just shared a chuckle.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~
            Kate let Tommy drive on the way back. They were quiet for a bit until she grew restless and curious. “So, you were raised somewhere like there? In a camp like that?” She asked.
            “On and off.” He replied curtly. His childhood wasn’t the burning subject on his mind. He was trying to conjure up the perfect plan to kill Billy Kimber. It was not a time for reminiscing on his shitty childhood.
            “You lived in Small Heath sometimes too?”
            “Yes.”
            Kate studied his face, the way his blue eyes stared straight ahead at the road. A hardened expression giving her indications that he wasn’t keen on talking about it. And yet, she continued on. “What was it like?”
            “We were poor. I was born on a fucking boat. I learned to ride and shoot a gun before I even attended school.” He listed off with a tone of finality. “What matters is right now. Can’t keep looking back.”
            “Sometimes if we forget where we came from, we lose the path ahead of us.”
            “That another philosophy from your Bohemians?” Tommy looked for a way to steer the conversation away from himself.
            “No, it’s something I’ve learned over the years.” She glanced out the window watching the outskirts of Birmingham pass by. The empty fields and stone walls lining the road. “Our past will always be a part of us whether we like it or not. It’s something we can’t escape.”
            “What can’t you escape?”
            Kate smiled and glanced over at him. “So many things, Nature Boy. Just like you.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
            After saving her from certain assault, Kate got closer to Grace. It was nice having someone to talk to who wasn’t overly suspicious all the time. Grace was at the right enough distance from the Shelby family to make acquaintance with Kate. Not in too deep but not too far away either.
            Tommy was still busy with his own work that he neglected the leads Kate had given him. So, she found herself bored more often than not. To pass the time, she went to the Garrison to chat with Grace and help her around the pub.
            While they weren’t sharing their deepest secrets with one another, they did get along. Kate found the soft-spoken barmaid pleasant to spend time with. The blonde was certainly unlike the women she spent time with at the Moulin Rouge. She smiled more and sang often. Clear signs that the light in her eyes hadn’t been snuffed out.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            One evening, Kate was nursing a gin at the bar. Grace was sweeping up as they talked idly. For some reason or another, Kate suddenly noticed the sun had begun to set. She wasn’t sure she’d ever seen the Garrison empty past noon.
            “Where is everyone?” She asked.
            “Tommy said there’s a family occasion,” Grace replied, walking back over to the bar.
            “Family occasion?”
            “He told me not to ask questions.” She shrugged and rearrange a few bottles on the shelves. “It’s in my contract.”
            “That’s why I never sign anything. Don’t need some fucker holding my own signature over my head for leverage.” Kate grumbled. “What a lousy asshole for not inviting us. At least you, you know him better than I do. I see the way he looks at you.”
            Grace’s cheeks flushed pink and she hid an embarrassed smile. “But I’m not family.”
            “Fuck that.” Kate finished her gin and stood up. “Let’s go crash this occasion of theirs.”
            The other woman chuckled but shook her head. “I have to mind the bar.” She reminded her. “And I don’t think Tommy would appreciate if we did that.”
            “Well, I’m bored and fuck what Tommy says. Sure you don’t want to come?” Kate went to retrieve her coat.
            Grace’s brow wrinkled with concern. She could only imagine the anger on Tommy’s face if Kate showed up unannounced. “Why don’t you just stay with me here? You can keep me company.”
            “I’ll be back later once Tommy kicks me out,” Kate smirked and left before Grace could stop her.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
            It wasn’t hard finding the wedding reception. Mostly because there were fireworks being lit up. Kate found her way to the Lees camp again where the party was in full swing. She had enough alcohol in her system not to really care what people thought. If Tommy wanted to trust her then he would need to give her chances. Keeping her at bay at all times would prove nothing.
            Besides, Kate had decided that it was her new course of action. Tommy wasn’t the only one planning to profit off of their relationship.
            The wedding guests were all substantially drunk. Music was being played and people were dancing up a storm. Lanterns and torches lit up the affair and allowed enough light for Kate to find her way through the crowd.
            Unfortunately, Tommy found her first. He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her toward a makeshift table. “What the fuck are you doing here?”
            “Grace said there was a family occasion and I wanted to offer my well wishes.” She shrugged nonchalantly. “Who got married?”
            “For fuck’s sake.” Tommy ran a hand over his face. Luckily for Kate, he wasn’t really in the mood to make a fuss about her intrusion. He sat down at the table and pointed to where people were dancing. “John did.”
            Surprised, Kate glanced over her shoulder to see the younger Shelby brother with a pretty brunette by his side. “I didn’t know he was engaged.”
            “Yeah, neither did he,” Tommy muttered and took a long drag of his cigarette.
            Polly walked over with a worried expression. “You should tell Ada to slow down.” She looked at Kate in acknowledgment but apparently there were more pressing matters at hand.
            Tommy just snorted a bitter laugh, looking out to where his heavily pregnant sister was spinning about like a madwoman. “Think she’ll listen to me?”
            “Your sister?” Kate had yet to meet Ada due to circumstances with Freddie Thorne. But she had heard the name swirling around. Mostly agitated whispers and grumbles of betrayal.
            “She’s been drinking, oh Christ, Tommy please.” Polly urged him. Looking worn out, Tommy stood up and went to approach his sister.
            Zilpha Lee smiled a bit curiously at Kate. “You’re the American girl Tommy brought along the other day.”
            “Oh, yes.” Kate nodded.
            The older woman stubbed out her cigarette and nodded. “He’s got plans for you, chavi.” Her tone was playful there was a hint of warning laced underneath.
            Kate didn’t have the chance to reply. The dancing was suddenly interrupted by Ada Shelby shouting drunkenly at Tommy. “And he tries to kill his own brother-in-law!”
            The rest of the Shelby family went to step in and even Kate walked over just in case things broke out in a fight. But the mood changed just as suddenly as the argument had broken out. Ada let out a pained groan and began breathing heavily.
            Polly exclaimed in shock. “Holy shit, water.”
            Tommy immediately stepped into action, placing his coat over his sister’s shoulders and starting to move her away from the party. But he paused for a second. “Kate, come along.”
            Startled and not about to argue with the family in a crisis, she ran after them.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Kate wasn’t sure what she was getting herself into as she was hurried into a car with John, Arthur, and Esme. But she felt she wasn’t in any position to step away. She’d crashed the wedding and now she was really paying for it.
            Once they arrived at the flat, Kate got out of the car looking at Tommy in disbelief. “What am I doing here?”
            “Me sister’s giving birth, she’ll need all the help she can get.” He replied, not looking too concerned over the situation now that the women were apparently in charge.
            Her eyes widened at him. “You think just because I’m a woman I’ve got experience with children? Oh yeah, sure I’ve delivered plenty of babies, hundreds even!” She smacked him with her purse. “I worked at a fucking brothel, pregnancies were cut short. I don’t know the first thing ‘bout childbirth.”
            “I’m sure you give great moral support though.” Tommy placed his hands on her shoulders and steered her toward the door where Esme and Polly had gone through. “Breaking in a horse, Kate.”
            “I still don’t know what that means!”
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
            The room was chaotic with Ada’s screams and Polly and Esme trying to get the baby out safely. Kate was in a state of shock and could only hold Ada’s hand as she wailed in pain. The Shelby sister’s grip was like an iron and Kate was afraid she was going to break a few fingers in the process.
            “We need to move her to all fours,” Esme said and Polly agreed. The two women helped Ada forward and Kate was pushed back a bit. Unfortunately, that gave Kate a good view of the birth in progress. The sight was too much for Kate. Her eyes rolled back and she fainting, dropping to the floor like a dead weight.

CHAPTER 7 (read Chapter 6 or start at the beginning with Chapter 1)
The car moved along the road at a quick pace, but not one so fast that Sophie couldn’t enjoy the sights of the countryside. They had been on the road for about twenty minutes, just Sophie and Tommy, and neither had said a word, so it startled her when Tommy was the first to break the silence.
“Before I take you to my home, where my son lives, I need to be sure,” he said.
Sophie immediately knew what he meant. “You don’t trust me,” she responded.
Tommy thought about that a moment–he’d thought about that all day, in fact–and concluded that wasn’t quite right. “I don’t trust Changretta.”
“But you think he got to me.”
“I think he tried,” Tommy said, glancing away from the road to read her face.
It was Sophie’s turn to think about her response. She, too, had been considering it all day. On the one hand, Luca had made it perfectly clear what he intended to do if she refused to help him. On the other hand, she had no reason to fear for her life. As far as she was concerned, it wasn’t worth saving.
But perhaps the real reason she decided to deny him access to the Shelby family was Tommy himself. Despite his hardened exterior and ruthless reputation, he’d shown her incredible kindness in the previous weeks. And now, he was taking her to his home–as he’d said, where his son lived–in order to keep her safe. She owed him the truth.
So she shared it. She told him of Luca’s plan to throw him over. How he was prepared to catch Tommy off guard one afternoon leaving the office. How he was ready to follow and ambush him in a secluded part of town. And how Luca needed her to be his eyes. To deliver Tommy on that afternoon. To ensure he got in his car alone and headed in the right direction, none the wiser.
She could see the gears of Tommy’s mind spinning as he took in this information. He was already devising a counter attack.
They sat quietly for a few more moments until the car turned into the small lane leading to Arrow House.
The home came into full view and Sophie couldn’t help but smile. It was so clearly Tommy’s home. Grand and flashy, but dark and mysterious. She was already imagining the darkened hallways adorned with art Tommy neither selected nor cared for, but somehow felt it advanced his status and signified importance.
“I smelled like you all day today,” he said, keeping his focus on the road ahead.
Sophie just turned to look at him, not understanding what he meant.
“The shirt, it smelled like you all day,” he said in response to her questioning look.
“Oh,” was all Sophie could muster. She wasn’t sure if he was upset by this or not–his face remained the same stoic, expressionless stone he used to conduct business.
“I’m–I’m sorry,” she finally said, not knowing what else to say.
“Don’t be,” is all he said in reply as they pulled into the drive.
____________________
Tommy asked Francis to drop Sophie’s things in the guest room and proceeded to show her around the grounds. “Don’t be shy about asking for anything you need,” he said. “My home is your home.”
And she knew he meant it.
It took her an hour to choose a dress for dinner, which she recognized as ridiculous. She knew the dinner wouldn’t be formal, but she couldn’t stop herself from wanting to impress Tommy, no matter how silly it was. She finally settled on the most expensive dress she brought from Small Heath, which still hadn’t cost her much. Tommy had been with some incredibly classy women. Grace, for one, was from a wealthy family back in Ireland, and had grown up around officers and ladies. No doubt she carried herself with a certain elegance that Sophie would never embody. Then again, Tommy himself came from meager beginnings, so in many ways she was well-suited for him regardless of how much she could afford (or not afford) to pay for a dress.
Just as she took one last look in the mirror, she noticed Charlie standing in the doorway–too shy to interrupt her.
“Well hello,” Sophie said, turning and kneeling to his height, “You must be Charlie. I’ve hear an awful lot about you.”
“Daddy says you’re going to live here,” Charlie said, bashfully.
“Well, I’m going to stay for a little while, yes. Is that okay with you?” she asked him.
Charlie nodded his head and quickly asked what had clearly been on his mid, “Will you come play with me?”
“I can’t at the moment, darling. I’m expected downstairs for dinner.” With that response, Sophie could see disappointment forming on his little face. “But I tell you what, how about you come wake me up in the morning, and we’ll do whatever you want for the whole day. How does that sound?” she asked.
“Can we visit the horses?” Charlie asked.
“Of course!”
“And you can see Daddy’s new horse!”
“Oh, Daddy has a new horse, does he?”
“Yep! Her name is Belle!” Charlie shouted–excitement clearly returning to him.
Sophie’s breath caught in her throat. It couldn’t be a coincidence–surely he’d named the horse for the one she’d been forced to leave behind in America.
“It means ‘beautiful’” Charlie continued, almost faster than Sophie could process what was happening. “It’s France.”
“French,” She corrected, sweetly. “It is French and means ‘beautiful,’ you’re absolutely correct.”
“She’s named after her mommy,” Charlie squealed.
“Hmm,” Sophie nodded, feeling a blush rising to her face.
“Yep. The lady who had her before,” he said.
Charlie beamed.
So did Sophie.
Just then, they realized Tommy was standing in the doorway. Sophie had no idea how long he’d been there, but suspected he’d heard most of the conversation given the smug grin on his face. “Well, I see he found you,” Tommy said, chiding charlie.
With the hint of a smile, Tommy looked at Charlie, “It’s time to get ready for bed, son. Miss Sophie needs to eat dinner.”
“G’night Miss Sophie,” Charlie whispered into her neck as he squeezed her tight.
Sophie smiled and he made his way to the door, only stopping to hug his father’s leg. In the most tender display she’d ever seen him make, Tommy mussed his hair lovingly and winked at him as he ran to meet Frances and get ready for bed.
“Ms. Carlton insisted I name the horse before she’d sell her to me. It was the first thing I could think of,” Tommy said before he turned and led Sophie into the hallway.
_____________________
The next morning, Sophie did, in fact, meet Belle. She was a beautiful horse and Sophie could see immediately why Tommy had been drawn to her. The horse seemed to be taken with the woman as well, as she stepped lightly when Sophie approached her stall and lowered her head almost asking her to be pet. Sophie obliged and leaned in close to whisper into her skin.
“That’s it, sweet girl, that’s it. Even if he didn’t name you for me, let’s pretend you’re mine, huh? And I’ll be yours.”
The horse nodded her head, almost as if she understood the secret pact being made, and huffed loudly.
Tommy had insisted she take some time off work hoping she’d find solace at Arrow House. While she appreciated that he wanted her to feel comfortable there, she knew she’d never be able to put the past few days behind her if she didn’t find something akin to normal in her routine. Now, standing with the horse, she was overwhelmed with a need to ride out into the woods–to explore the grounds. She’d been consumed with worry too long and needed some time in the fresh air to slow it all. She knew the sunshine would wash some of the pain that had filled the wounds.
Using a saddle she found on the wall, Sophie dressed Belle and set off into the rising sun, waving at Johnny Dogs as she passed.
_____________________
The next few days trickled along in much the same pattern. Sophie would wander out in the mornings to visit Belle. Sometimes she went alone, sometimes she took Charlie, but she always spent the better part of the morning in the fields or stables. She was grateful to be out of the smoggy streets of Small Heath, but she was still unsettled. She wasn’t used to being caged in. Sophie knew Tommy wasn’t doing it purposefully, and genuinely thought it was for her own good, but she was growing restless.
One morning, Tommy stood by the large picture window in the den staring out into the garden behind the house. It’d been long neglected since Grace died, but he hadn’t had the heart to do anything about it. Francis fussed over it for the first year, asking all spring if she should hire a gardener, but Tommy ignored her requests and she eventually let it go. Spring, once again, was in full swing and the garden was filled to the brim with green, flowers and shrubs left to fight the weeds threatening to take over. Boxwoods growing wild and out of shape. Roses so twisted and full he doubted anyone could get past the thorns to take a cutting.
Roses had been her favorite. He was always certain he’d find them in every room during the season. And while they’d only shared one summer at Arrow House, that summer had been so full of fragrant roses, he was sure the smell would always remind him of Grace.
Out of the corner of his eye, just through some of the most dense growth, he saw Sophie. She was in the garden, though he couldn’t tell what she was doing until she raised up with an armful of cut flowers in the crook of her elbow. She lifted a basket from the ground that was full of the soft pink, white, and purple blooms. She headed back toward the house and he impulsively made his way toward the kitchen to meet her.
He turned the corner to find her there, placing the bounty on the table and removing the gloves she’d been wearing. He could tell now that he was close enough that the flowers were not roses, thankfully, though he didn’t know their variety.
“Francis has been worried about that garden for years,” he said, startling her to a small jump.
Sophie laughed. “Well, everything looks to be healthy. Thriving, really. Sometimes they do best when they’re left to their own devices.”
She didn’t even look his way, she just focused on trimming and shaping the stems, preparing them for arrangements around the house, no doubt.
“Though it could stand a good weeding,” she continued.
Tommy walked toward the table and took up a stem. The flower was large, almost as big as his hand. It was perfectly round, like a ball, with delicate petals unfolding from a tight center. And it was fragrant–was it ever fragrant. It smelled sweet and powdery. It smelled warm, clean and feminine.
It smelled like Sophie.
This was her scent. He’d been trying to place it since the first time he’d been close enough to notice it, but couldn’t identify it. He’d worn it on his own skin the day he wore the shirt she’d slept in and it had driven him crazy that he didn’t know enough about flowers to place it. But here it was, in pure, floral form.
“They’re lovely,” he said, placing the bloom back on the table.
“Like I said, they really do well when they’re allowed to grow a little wild. Like most living things, it’s best not to lord over them too much,” She said with a smirk, fully aware of the dig she’d made at him.
As she finished cleaning up the blooms, she gathered them into the basket once again and turned to leave the kitchen, setting off to place them in the arrangements scattered throughout the house.
“What are they?” Tommy asked, just as she left the room.
“Peonies,” she called back from the hallway.

Sophie was thankful to return to work the next day. She assumed Polly had spoken with the rest of the family before she arrived, as they all behaved unnaturally ordinary toward her that day but soon enough everything returned to normal in the office. It was still strange riding with Tommy to and from work each day, sharing dinner at his large table, and busying herself with reading, riding, and poking around in the garden of Arrow House when she wasn’t working. They hadn’t returned to the Garrison since the incident almost two weeks ago, and she was thankful no one had asked her to. She was trying her best to put one foot in front of the other, but she had been through enough to know that it just took time and distance to recover.
What was most difficult, though, was achieving a full night’s sleep. Sophie had been unable to find peaceful rest since the night at No. 6 Watery Lane. She’d tried herbs at Ada’s insistence and whiskey as Arthur suggested, but neither helped. She dozed off each night, but sleep never stayed with her long as she found herself waking often in cold sweats from nightmares, which is why she struggled to stay awake at her desk.
May Carlton cleared her throat to get Sophie’s attention.
“Oh, uh, sorry,” Sophie said, sitting up straight and trying to compose herself. “You must be Ms. Carlton. He’s expecting you.” Sophie held out her hand to properly introduce herself to the woman, but realized from the look on May’s face that she had no interest in getting to know the assistant.
She lowered her hand. “I’ll let him know you’re here,” Sophie replied. As she made her way to Tommy’s office, the door flung open quickly.
“May,” Tommy said, feigning surprise. He backed against the threshold of the door and motioned for May to join him. As he closed the door, he glanced back at Sophie, who tried to smile but found herself yawning wide instead. She thought she shouldn’t sit down and get comfortable as it would be embarrassing to be caught sleeping twice, so she gathered the files on her desk and moved to the cabinet to do some more active work for a while instead.
______________________
May always seemed to be on the fringes of Tommy’s life. She’d popped back a year or so after Grace passed and would come and go when she felt compelled to do so. There were times he thought she might actually be good for him, but he mostly kept her at arm’s length, only really letting her in when he needed a specific kind of satisfaction. Lizzie, and others, were there physically, which was mostly enough. He did, though, find himself needing more from time to time. May was good to provide a closeness, a warmth, he’d been missing since losing his wife.
Now, though, Tommy had no need for that.
“I came to discuss our arrangement with the filly,” May started.
“Hmmm.”
“Do you still want her for your stud? If so, you can bring him to me,” she said, hoping he’d take that as the invitation she’d meant it to be.
Tommy stared straight through her. It was clear his mind was somewhere else.
“I booked that suite you’re always talking about,” May said when she realized Tommy wasn’t going to initiate further conversation. She smiled at him but Tommy didn’t feel the need to reciprocate.
“I’m afraid it’s not going to happen this time, Ms. Carlton,” Tommy said. Reaching into his case for a cigarette.
She scoffed, “Ms. Carlton? For fuck’s sake, Tommy, since when am I ‘Ms. Carlton’ to you?”
“May–”
“Oh God,” she interrupted. “No, I see what this is. You’ve met someone, haven’t you? You get what you need from me, another fucking horse, and you move on. Again.”
Tommy didn’t know what to say. She was wrong. But she wasn’t entirely wrong. He had met someone. Someone who made him feel things he didn’t think his heart would ever feel again. Things he wasn’t sure he wanted to feel again. Things he’d locked away.
But May had given him more, too. He’d never seen her as she now implied.
“May–”
“No, that’s all I needed,” She said. “It’s over then.” She stood and collected her purse. “If you still want the filly, call the office. We’ll make you a fair price.”
Tommy ran his hand over his face in exasperation.
May slammed the door behind her.
______________________
“Ms. Carlton,” Sophie called, as May stormed toward the front door. “Do I need to schedule a follow up? Will Mr. Shelby be transporting the horse to you? Or will you be meeting elsewhere?”
May stopped and turned on her heels, letting her eyes finally see Sophie for the first time. “My God. It’s you, isn’t it?” She said more than asked.
“I’m sorry?”
“I heard about what happened with the Italian,” May continued. “What, did you make Tommy feel like a hero again? He saved you, eh? You may as well be another fucking medal.”
Sophie just stared at her, brow furrowed in confusion.
May scoffed and walked toward the door. “He’ll throw you in the cut too, you know,” she said, letting the door slowly close behind her, taking the light from the street with it.

Like It Really Rough Guy Part 1
Billy Hargrove Soulmate AU
Warnings: Language, NSFW content
Enjoy!!
~
A black Chevy Impala rolled into the parking lot of Hawkins High School and backed into a parking spot near the exit to the lot, far away from the front doors of the school where students were piling up. The driver door opened and one foot clad in a black hiking boot braced on the pavement. A girl with auburn hair that trailed down in her shoulders in thick waves swung out of the seat with a heavy sigh. She wore a pair of high-waisted black pants adorned with silver buttons, and black leather jacket overtop of a white The Clash tank top. Her shirt was tucked into her pants, and her wrists were covered in bracelets of various materials, along with a massive silver watch clearly made for a man. A gold chain hung around her neck, along with a silver chain that clasped a chunk of pink sea glass. The girl’s skin was light, but sun kissed, and contrasted nicely with her pale green eyes. She tucked her hair behind her ear, revealing two studs in the lobe, a gold hoop in her helix, and a copper cuff clasped around the highest point of her ear.
“Hey, space cadet!” A loud, male voice rang out across the parking lot, and the girl tensed, groaning quietly and leaning her head back, “Daisy!”
“Stevie, are you always this much of a pain in the ass?”
“Only for you, Daisy.” Steve laughed, yelping when Daisy punched him gently in the ribs.
“Sorry, Hazy-Daze. I meant to stop him from ambushing you, but Jonathan parked far away.” Nancy teased, jogging towards them.
“Jonathan, save me from this freak show please!” Daisy called out to the dorky brunette as he slid out of his beat up old car.
“No can do, Daisy. I have to hand in a project before first period!” Jonathan called back, heading towards the school. Daisy snorted and rolled her eyes, lighting a cigarette while Nancy complained and tried to bat it away from her. Steve slid an arm around Nancy’s waist and the other around Daisy’s shoulders, leading the girls towards the school. They all paused, however, when a blue camero pulled into the parking lot. The guy that slid out of it was far hotter than any man had any right to be, and he knew it. The new kid as of last week, Billy Hargrove. Daisy eyed him for a moment, until Steve jostled her and kept walking. Her soul mark was itchy today, and had been off and on since that weekend. It wasn’t abnormal for soul marks to get itchy, warm, cold, or even painful with your soulmate’s emotions. Hers was particularly active, though primarily in the more negative range.
“You itchy again?” Steve asked, and Daisy looked at him for a moment before noticing she was scratching at her ribs on the left side.
“Yeah, guess they’re pissed off or something.” Daisy shrugged, tracing the mark on Steve’s neck, “You ever get that?”
“Not nearly as often as you, sugar.” Steve replied. Nancy laughed quietly.
“Mine is just… comfortable all the time.” The brunette mused. Daisy smiled, reaching over Steve to ruffle Nancy’s perfectly curly hair.
“Course it is, Queenie. That’s because your soulmate is a total sugar pie.” Daisy teased, laughing as Nancy slapped at her hand to get her to stop messing up her hair. Daisy stubbed out her cigarette on the brick of the school, checking her pocket to be sure her cigarette case was still there with her money clip. Her metal lighter was in the opposite pocket, along with her keys and the small case she kept her pills in. She threw her backpack into her locker, grabbed her notebook and the textbook she needed for English, then headed towards her class. On the way, she slung an arm around Steve’s waist. Nancy had already run off towards her first class despite the bell not being for a good seven or eight minutes from then. She was probably aiming to steal a kiss from her soulmate since her morning classes weren’t with him.
“Guess who’s got the good stuff?” Daisy asked, bumping her hip into Steve’s.
“Seriously? Jesus, how do you always manage this shit?” Steve lifted her and swung her around in a little circle, then dropped her and kept walking. Daisy punched his shoulder, then looped her arm through his.
“Because I’m the best, duh.” Daisy laughed. It was odd to see her with Steve Harrington, considering he used to be such a douchebag. Daisy had never been particularly popular or unpopular. She was a bit more grown up than the rest of her classmates, having lived on her own for over two years now. Getting emancipated at 16 had been a struggle, but she worked hard and had managed to provide for herself since then. She ignored the rumours around school about her, was patient in the face of any bullying she did receive, and she balanced three jobs on top of maintaining good grades.
“Clearly. Hey, do you still need help with the new place?” Steve asked, and Daisy nodded.
“Of course I do. Johnny boy is in, Nance said she’d help, and apparently the kiddo troupe is all coming along to help too. I am hoping that after you, I’ll be able to get another person who is strong enough to help with some of this. I have a lot that I need to do before my furniture comes on Monday.” Daisy left him at his Math class with a pat on the back.
“I’ll see if I can get anyone to come. No douchebags, I promise.” Steve headed into his class, and Daisy continued to her English class. Her seat was in the back, next to the window, and it hadn’t surprised her when the new kid flopped into the seat next to her last week. Despite herself, Daisy found herself looking him over from head to toe again, not bothering to try and hide it. Warmth pulsed through her soul mark, and Daisy bit the inside of her cheek. He was… beautiful. She couldn’t even deny it, even though the cocky smirk on his face made her want to gag. Last week, he’d been distracted by Jenny Reed, and this week he had spent most of his time allowing Heather Thomas to drool all over him. He hadn’t had time to get to know Daisy yet, and for that, she was thankful. She had enough distractions in her life, and enough responsibilities. She didn’t need someone pulling her focus away from the important things in her life. Of course, all good things come to an end. She had caught his attention today, dressed as she was.
“Billy Hargrove. What’s your name, princess?”
Daisy held her hand out to him, twisting a little in her seat to face him.
“Daisy Prince. Nice to meet you, Billy Hargrove.” She said, tensing up when he brushed his lips over her knuckles. His eyes narrowed just a little bit, his free hand cupping just under his left pec. Daisy felt her soul mark burn, but there was no pain, just overwhelming heat. She wrenched her hand free of his, swallowing around the lump in her throat, and looked determinedly out the window. Billy reached out after a moment, but before he could make contact, the teacher began the class and told him off.
After class, she headed to the bathroom and shrugged her jacket off of her shoulder, then pulled her shirt up to show off the spirals of blues that made up her soul mark. She loved her mark. It looked like a watercolour painting, swirls of colour that she tried time and time again to recreate. Not everyone had a soul mark, and not everyone with one would ever find their soulmate, but it was special when you did. It was meant to be, and from what she understood, it was never wrong. Soul marks weren’t perfect – Jonathan and Nancy were in the same school for ages without realizing they were soulmates. They had never seen each other’s marks, and hadn’t noticed that they were sharing emotions through their marks until after Will’s disappearance.
This just had to be a coincidence. Sighing, Daisy dropped her shirt and shrugged her jacket back on. She wouldn’t fuss. She’d just let things happen, and she was sure she’d figure it out eventually. Yeah, no reason to freak out, or overthink things.
“Daisy, are you okay?” Nancy asked from behind her, startling her out of her thoughts.
“Oh, yeah, Nance, it’s okay. My soul mark is just acting up – no big deal.”
“Maybe they’re close by.” Nancy mused, fixing a couple bits of Daisy’s hair for her. Daisy snorted.
“Let’s hope not.” Daisy retorted, which made Nancy raise her brows. Daisy led her out of the bathroom, and at the sight of Billy Hargrove leaning against a locker just outside of the bathroom with Tommy H, a sharp intake of breath drew both his and Nancy’s attention to her. Nancy noticed Daisy’s unease and dragged her away.
“Okay, so, what was that?” Nancy demanded once they were away from Billy and Tommy.
“Nothing. It’s nothing.” An incredulous look from Nancy made Daisy sigh, “Okay, so, he just… I don’t know, he kissed my knuckles in class and it made my…”
Nancy raised her brows, tilted her head and urged her to continue.
“Me uncomfortable. That’s all.” Daisy lied, “You better go, or you’ll be late for class.”
Nancy cursed, squeezing her arm and then running off towards her class while Daisy watched. Once she was out of sight, Daisy threw her books into her locker and grabbed her gym uniform. She changed by herself once the changing room was empty, not caring that it made her late to class. Coach Alan began to give her shit for it, but one look at who was late and he huffed, telling her to hurry up and join the others. Laps went by easily, as did push ups, sit ups, and rope climbing. The girls were set up to play volleyball, while the boys were set up to play basketball, and she felt a little bit jealous. She quite liked basketball, but when she noticed Steve and Billy amongst the boys playing, she decided she’d be fine with watching between rounds of volleyball. Daisy wasn’t one to play on any sports teams, but she was quite good at sports with the right practice. Her team was leading when she got traded out for a break, and she sat on the lowest rung of the bleachers to watch the games. Billy and Steve were facing off, and she had to pout a little that Steve was on the shirts team, but seeing Billy’s shoulders and the dimples in his back brought her a thrill.
And then he turned around, and his soul mark was on show, right upon his pec. It was identical to hers, swirls of blue and white like watercolour brushstrokes. Her heart began to pound, eyes slightly wide, and Billy’s hand covered his soul mark again, giving Steve a chance to steal the ball again. Daisy tripped over herself to get up, slamming into the ground but quickly shooting back up and running for the change rooms.
“Miss Prince?” The Coach called out, but she was gone before he could catch up. Daisy showered, ignoring the Coach banging on the change room doors. When Robin entered the room and said the Coach sent her, Daisy leaned out of the shower stall with a hand covering her soul mark.
“Hey, Robin, sorry. Can you just tell him I’m feeling sick? I can’t… I can’t be out there right now.” Daisy requested. Robin nodded, pacing a little closer and leaning against the wall outside of the showers.
“Are you okay? Harrington’s pretty worried. He wanted to storm in here to make sure you were okay. I guess the doofus forgot that he’s not allowed in here, since he’s probably been in here before and all.” Robin mused, and Daisy snorted.
“Sounds like Steve. He’s just a worry wart. He helped me through a lot of shit last year, so I don’t blame him.” Daisy admitted, finishing her shower and wrapping a towel around herself, a smaller towel ruffling her hair. Robin hopped up onto the counter beside her as Daisy began to dry and brush her hair.
“I like your hair curly. You shouldn’t brush them out so much. It suits you.” Robin gave one of the curls a tug, and Daisy laughed.
“Thanks. You think they look good? I always thought the curls were a bit much.” The auburn haired girl replied, blushing when Robin nodded, “You’re sweet, Robin. I’ll let the curls settle. We’ll see if you like them dry, ‘cause they’re a bit of a mess.”
Robin headed out to let the Coach and Steve know she was okay, and Daisy scrunched and finger-curled her hair to make it a bit less messy. Once she was done, she got dressed and put her eyeliner back on, swept a bit of lip balm over her pouty lips, and headed out of the change room. Steve was at her side before she could leave the gym, and she had to hold him at arm’s length to keep him from covering her in his sweat.
“Gross, Stevie. You’re a sweaty mess, babe. You can hug me later, after you shower. Now, get back to class before Coach gives you shit. I’m fine, I just need a breather.” Daisy promised, kissing her fingers then pressing them to his cheek.
The picnic tables outside were her normal lounging place, and they were blessedly clear. Daisy draped herself over one, her leather jacket rolled up as a pillow and a cigarette hanging from her lips. Coincidences happen, and there was no way this wasn’t just a coincidence. If she had actually had a chance to compare their marks close up, there would be some obvious difference. Had to be. She was just gagging for it and needed to sate herself, that’s why she thought the hot new guy was her soulmate. Thank God it was Friday. She could put all of her energy into fixing up her new house instead of focusing on her physical needs. It had been a long time since she last slept with someone, and that was all this little phase was.
Daisy felt Steve crawling onto the table with her before she saw or heard him, and it took her a moment to will herself to open her eyes. She stretched one leg out over his lap as he settled on the edge of the table with his feet on the bench. He was quiet for a moment, but soon enough, he looked up at her with concern brimming in his gaze.
“Is it your parents?” Steve asked, and Daisy nearly choked on her own spit.
“Oh, shit, Stevie… no, no it isn’t. I’m sorry for worrying you.” Daisy sat up, pressing closer to Steve and giving him a brief hug, “I’ll explain once I work things out, okay? I just have to think about things a little bit more.”
Steve nodded, heaving a sigh when Daisy began to comb her fingers through his hair. He leaned into her shamelessly, letting out a hum when Daisy dragged her nails over his scalp. Her other friends understood bits and pieces of what had happened to her, but Steve was the only one who knew everything. She hadn’t meant for him to ever get involved, and it had honestly been a complete fluke that he was there for some of it all, but he had been a stable rock for her to latch herself onto in the hardest moments of it all. Steve had gone from someone she despised to someone she cherished with every bit of her. She couldn’t lie to him, but he wouldn’t push her if she told him she couldn’t talk about it yet.
“Well, isn’t this cute?” Tommy H’s voice rang out, and Daisy grimaced at the sound. He stood with Carol and Billy, and Steve tensed up against her in preparation for the bullshit that came with dealing with them. Daisy looked them over for a moment, brow arched delicately to show her absolute disdain for Tommy.
“Hey Tommy. Did you forget what I told you last year?” Daisy asked. Carol tensed and Tommy sneered, but Billy looked amused and mildly confused.
“I see you’re still playing the stuck-up bitch card. Didn’t your parents ever teach you manners? Oh, wait…” Tommy faked a pout, and Steve froze against Daisy. Before he could move, Daisy offered Tommy a killer smile and took a puff off of her cigarette, then blew the smoke out at him.
“I see you’re still playing the ‘second fiddle to the popular douchebag of the minute’ card, huh?” Daisy untangled herself from Steve and stepped closer to Tommy, sliding her arms around his neck and pressing her body up against his, “You still mad that I told you I’d rather eat dirt than ever touch your dick, sweetie? How about you fuck off before I make copies of those notes you left in my locker, huh? No point ruining what little reputation you have. Leave me and my friends alone, or I’ll kick your ass, Tommy. I’m crazy, don’t you remember?”
Carol grabbed Daisy’s arm, but she ripped her hand away and twisted Carol’s arm, then used her grip on her to shove the girl away from her. Billy watched, endlessly amused by this girl humiliating his posse. Tommy tried to shove her, but Daisy planted her feet and checked him hard, knocking him on his ass.
“Run away, Tommy.” Daisy growled, while Tommy scampered up with Carol’s help. They both stalked off, acting like their pride wasn’t bruised, but Billy remained where he stood. Daisy ignored him, stubbing out her burnt out cigarette on the bench of the table.
“Motherfucker wasted my cigarette.” Daisy grumbled, brow arching and shoulders tensing when Billy lit one and offered it to her. She took it, locking her gaze with him for a moment to ponder her reaction, then flicked her tongue out to lick the underside of the filter before putting it into her mouth and taking a puff. Billy smirked, and Daisy blew out the smoke in his face to hide her reaction when the mark on her chest began to feel warm and almost fluttery. Looking into Billy’s eyes, she got a feeling that he wasn’t as oblivious as she hoped, but he was clearly content with going with the flow for now. Daisy couldn’t help but smile when Billy stepped closer and stole the cigarette back from her, taking a long drag off of it while his gaze ran over her body, and then over to Steve.
“So, crazy girl, you got plans this weekend?” Billy asked, and Daisy snorted, stepping closer to him and stealing the cigarette back from him.
“Yeah, I do actually. I’m finishing up renovations at my house. Move in trucks are coming by Monday, so I have to get it all done before then. No time for anything else.” Daisy replied.
“You the newbie on Cherry Lane?” Billy asked, raising his brows, a sly smirk crossing his face when Daisy hesitated.
“Uh, yeah, that’s me. How’d you know?”
“I live at 4819 Cherry Lane. You’re across the street and a house over. 4823 right?” Billy smirked, “I knew I saw someone working in there.”
Daisy took a drag off of the cigarette and shrugged, “Yeah, that’s me. Tell us to shut up if we’re loud this weekend, I’m having people over to help me fix up the place, and we’re probably going to play music and shit.”
“Need any help?” Billy asked, and Steve made a weird noise behind her, so she glanced back at him. His eyes were wide, and he looked like he wanted to shout.
“Yeah, if you want to help. I’m paying, and providing dinner of pizza. Beer if you’re not driving.” Daisy replied, “Your little groupie idiots aren’t welcome. And there will be no fighting. That being said, anyone who helps is more likely to be invited over after. I live alone, so it’ll be a good place to hang out to get away from parents.”
“Well, now I’ve got to help. You starting tonight?” Billy asked, taking her wrist in his hand while the other pulled her closer. He took the cigarette into his mouth, his lips pressed against her fingertips, and the contact made Daisy’s breathing hitch. He smirked at her, scratching at his pec with his free hand while looking her in the eyes. Yeah, he definitely had caught on more than she hoped. He knew, but it was possible he didn’t know that she knew. Unlikely, but possible. Daisy let go of the cigarette, resisting the urge to shotgun the cigarette with him even as it bubbled inside of her. She licked her bottom lip, then pulled a cherry lollipop from her jacket pocket and ripped the packaging off. She tossed the packaging in the trash and flicked her tongue over the candy before popping it into her mouth, curbing her oral fixation that caused her to chain smoke when she was anxious.
“Yeah, tonight. Everyone’s coming around 5 for dinner before we start.” Daisy replied, and Billy nodded, tossing a wink her way, then heading back towards the building. Steve squeaked once he was gone, throwing his hands up.
“What was that, Daisy? Please don’t tell me you’re interested in that jackass.” Steve begged, and Daisy feigned a laugh that had him narrowing his eyes at her suspiciously.
“It was me getting another set of hands to help. If he wants to flirt along the way, he’s welcome to.” Daisy replied, and Steve knew she was omitting something, but she wasn’t technically lying, so he didn’t protest. He knew she’d open up eventually.

EPISODE 7 "We're Just A Group Of Happy Campers" - Dom
Tumblr media
Is it bad that the reason I love this challenge is because of seeing the suffering its making people go through.......why am i a hero again
Tumblr media
Why is it final 20 but I feel like I've nearly made jury? hmmm? Anyways...I feel good with how I've played up to this point. Being 1 of 3 villains to never receive a vote certainly feels good.....but I still know I have eyes on me since I haven't exactly been SUPER subtle??? Granted, I totally thought they were going to blindside me in the Linus vote given my shady business in the Alex vote (I mean....I can't deny it, I was def shady) but they didn't! Although I would feel much better if I could somehow snag an idol....but I'm not sure how anyone could get one without an idol clue (that was likely received by pure luck...) so for now, I kinda just have to be vulnerable to a successful idol play by someone that hates me (aka Richie) But if Richie were smart, he'd be coming to people besides Tommy/Kage to rally votes against Kage (or maybe Junior?), but he hasn't yet, which makes me believe that either A) There's a group that doesn't have me in it B) Tommy has Richie controlled C) Richie just isn't smart Cuz right now, the only people I'd consider voting are Richie, Kage, and Junior.... here's to hoping I either master Japanese and scam this immunity or survive one last vote before the swap! VL Confessional: I used to think I was pitied upon for my flop of a social game but hey maybe I have one??? or not. i cant tell if these people just tolerate me or like me or are using me. fuck all of 'em. who knew a hero could survive on the villains tribe for so long???
Tumblr media
So it turns out both tribes are going to tribal, which means I actually have to start thinking about who to vote for........... LMAO JK I'VE BEEN PLANNING THE NEXT FOUR PEOPLE TO BE VOTING OUT OF OUR TRIBE SINCE WE FIRST VOTED OUT MIST! Ruthie, it's your turn sweetheart. After ranking all of the people I want out of the game, you're significantly the most dangerous because you play UTR, and you make it super deep every time, and you killed All Stars from what I was told (until you got targeted for being TOO GOOD once it came to merge). You're not someone I can just think about working with because I'm afraid you're going to beat me in so many aspects. It's just a respect thing, no hard feelings hopefully considering you seem like a really stand up girl. I think it's about that time I message you with the "well.... time to go to tribal" message :/
So yea.... Ruthie is starting to spread like wildfire and already I've planted the seed in Drew, Andrew, Pippa and Steffen, and all of them are spreading that around QUICK. Drew and I got added to a bros alliance with Trace, Ashton, Steffen and Dom, which I wanted to happen anyways. Not necessarily with Drew, but Drew being in it is actually perfect because Drew is in my other alliance with Kendall, Alex, Pippa, Isaac, Andrew, which means the ONLY person not in either alliance chat was Ruthie, which made it really easy to rationalize with Drew as to why we needed to take that route. Also, making an easy vote this round, considering there's massive potential for a tribe swap next round, we don't want ANY split votes. We need to show that the heroes are one unit for now. The only downside I can see with this is if I get swapped onto a tribe with minority heroes, and the Villains would want to break up our cohesive team. The only thing I know is that if I go to tribal, I've got at least a second lease on life in this game because I have that idol with Steffen, so after finding the idol, I'm not too worried about swaps anymore because I know there's a very good chance I'll make it out of the swap alive. The swap is going to be where I start making bonds with Villains I've yet to interact and play with; like Junior, Richie, Jonathan, Brian, etc. Players, who I want relationships with, but don't have yet because we're on opposite tribes. This swap is going to be interesting, and I'm really excited to see it play out if we get the chance, and if we don't get the chance, it'll probably be Kendall or Alex C. going home next tribal council because that's what I want to happen, which means it's likely to come true. I honestly don't understand how people don't see that the name I want, I get....... tbh I'm pretty sure Andrew might be onto the fact that I wanted Ruthie gone, when Andrew wanted Kendall or Drew, and all of a sudden people going for Ruthie, it seems that it could easily be traced back to me, but I doubt it. I think i'm good for now, and I hope Andrew knows that he can trust me. Another thing I really need to work on is my long term relationships with Pippa and Isaac because I really haven't had as many conversations with them, but I hope that they both know that it'll be really hard for me to turn on them because they're so nice and also not the STRONGEST of players, which makes for a great goat late game. I'm not sure, but I'm just taking it one step at a time for right now, and if I make it past this one, I'm in the final 18, which actually seems like a big accomplishment just due to the fact that so many fucking people have gone home already, so pat on the back to me, but I'm not even close to my goal yet.

uh tommy is fucking hard to deal with because he seems so easily persuaded ...its sad anyways alex and ...linus (rip holy fuck) are gone...i wish richie went when linus did but if i have to sacrifice linus to get to swap then like..so fucking be it. so the tru hunties ( me, crow, jon and tommy) are now in a beautiful spot because the vote is looking to be richie or brian so obv we have majority now tommy wants other things so i just need to give him a lot of attention. TBH I love that boy so much but i can see why andreas says were similar.. because were both crazy and def on the villains for a reason. But im glad hes crazy loyal bc im loyal af to him <3 <3 <3 it seems like either ruthie or someone else is going on the heroes but kendall aka my gf told me shes in a majority alliance with isaac, her, drew, alex, andrew and pippa so i mean like ...GET IT. they will prob save ruthie?!?! because she seems to be like off limits always ANYWAYS BRIAN IS ANNOYING AND IM TIRED OF CROW LOVING HIM BUT IM TRYING NOT TO BE APPARENT ABOUT IT BRIAN IS IN CONSTANT ...annoying mode it seems like..hes such a snake he basically sells anyone out to get further and i mean like theres a difference between doing it to someone who ur not loyal to and who is not loyal to u but crow and i are loyal af to him (at least they think im loyal to them?) jeejejjejeje anyways i want richie gone but if richie has an idol?? then like...i mean idrc because i know i have one so im good hehehehehohohohohohohohohohohohohohohoh I GUESS that was my evil laugh dklfhjdskjfh

So, I just wanna point out that yesterday Drew told me he wanted to get Ruthie out. So of course I was the one to bring it up to the group so that if it comes down to it I can say that I helped push it towards Ruthie. I trust the group but lowkey if I get out I won't be shocked? But once this vote happens, especially if it happens the way I think it will, then I can have a lot more faith in the group I'm with.

So Linus died last round for no reason other than he was on the outs.  But like challenge strength kiddies !!! And now they're targetting Richie to stay united right before a swap.  Like.. get Kage or Junior or Tommy out thnx.  They're the most toxic to villains unity and WHEN I get fucked by them non-sexually, I will be choking myself.
ALSO, I miss Jaiden so much.  These people are kinda lame-os.  I like them as people, but like 👀

Phew, I'm glad to have immunity. But beyond that, I'm really realizing that I cannot relate to most of these people. They don't show their true colors and it's annoying af. You wanna know what Crow is thinking? Ask Crow. like caw-caw bitch I'll tell ya! Richie is going cuz he decided to throw my name in the mud. nuh uh. that dont fly with me. since it's been a while, i need to do my weekly tribal roast Junior - Like I told Sarah, he's a garden snake. It's like the one you kinda feel bad for just squirming along in your front yard acting like some mean 'ole cobra. Not subtle or good at playing the snake, next. Tommy - Literally has the same convos with nearly everyone. His social game is that of a robot and it's definitely apparent now that I'm playing with him again. I just hope these other fools don't fall for it too. Kage - I don't know how he's still here cuz everyone he's made an alliance with has gone home (besides Tommy but Tommy's aligned with everyone). That's why I'm keeping my distance. Richie - We went our separate ways. He actually seemed chill until he blew up before the Alex vote. Hopefully his 14 seconds of fame was worth it! Brian - love this boi. I can relate to him a TON but idk how he seems to always do well in ts....if it weren't for people like Sarah and I, he could have easily been 25th this season I think? Maybe he's a mastermind idk, but I haven't figured him out yet as a player.. Jonathan - I love his realness, which is why I stuck by him when his name was thrown out and when I had to pick an alliance. He probably doesn't trust me for shit, but he's been a good asset to my game, particularly this round. Sarah - I wouldn't say she's my ride-or-die per se cuz I know she's werking her social game with a lot of people, but we've been in every alliance together so far, so strategically, I see us going far together until we are separated. But I also know she's a villain. I'm a villain. Villains don't work together loyally 5ever!!

BRIAN IM SORRY YOU DONT DESERVE THIS!!!! Ugh I hate everything. Last night junior came to me with a plan to save me and I'm like cool and whatever keeps me here idgaf I'm in self preservation mode. Junior says Jonathan is super connected in the tribe and I'm like ya true and goes on this long spiel about it and I just wanted him to get to the point but finally he was like I think Brian would be the easiest vote. And ughhh I really like Brian and he's been the most on my side since the beginning out of the people left. Like literally everyone that I have any game connection with leaves. Ashley Jaiden Alex Linus and now Brian it's enough I'm so over it if he leaves and we don't swap and lose I'm FUCKED. BUT IM ALSO FUCKED RN. So Brian leaving is bad for me moving forward the alternative is that I leave and there is no moving forward so like..... It's not much of a choice there's no way I can flip this game around I spent the last 2 rounds since Alex left trying to shift the target onto Sarah and that didn't work at all I have no traction with these people. So step one was I mention Brian's name to tommy and tommy of course was so ambiguous and like just prying for information and I wasn't trying to throw Brian under the bus but I just wanted to plant the seed that Brian might be the easy vote plus tommy did vote for Brian week 1 so maybe there's some tension there??? So from there junior went and talked to tommy and kage and got them in on the Brian vote so if they're legit we only need one more but that's where it gets tricky because Sarah/crow/Jon are all going to vote together and I literally called Sarah and crow out in front of the tribe and threw them under the bus with receipts and hardcore exposure campaigns to multiple people on this tribe lmao so I'm fucked But I went to Sarah and we had a long talk just small talk and socializing and then moved to game talk where I really played up the emotional aspect where "I've been so alone and I was hurt that I thought I found my people and it all came crashing down and I just feel so isolated and it sucks and I'm sad :(" and I apologized really sincerely and tried to smooth everything over and just like make it so she's not scared of me sticking around because if she's doesn't think I'll come after her then the plan for junior to approach her to vote out Brian is more apt to get rolling because that door has already been opened.   I dont know if I'm going to still be here I can't play the in your face campaign against Brian or try and flip the script outright strategic game rn I have to just be in the background and make the case for why keeping me isn't harmful to anyone's game and let other people take care of numbers and I hate it when other people have any say in my destiny because if this tribe has proven anything it's that they can't be trusted like junior is SUCH a wimp when it comes to making moves he's so afraid of doing anything that if he thinks he's not going to be able to get the votes on Brian I know he'll give up on trying to save me so having him being the leader of the save Richie parade is truly terrifying. Ugh time has passed and junior is heckling out and I'm trying to convince crow now and I'm working my ass off while at dinner with my family and my phones going to die so RIP???????

So like nothing has happened on the heroes tribe because we've literally been on this huge winning streak. The streak itself has made things easier and challenging at the same time. We've grown so close that besides Drew or Steffen I don't want to see anyone leave. Had Drew lost immunity I would've tried my hardest to send him home because I have a sneaking suspicion Steffen and Drew have something going on and if we take out Steffen first that'll piss Johnny off, who we need as a number. So Drew has to go before Steffen as lon as they're on the same tribe with Johnny. Because Drew won immunity everyone decided to play it safe and either vote for Ruthie or Kendall and I think everyone decided on Ruthie because Kendall is on the edge of death and Ruthie is a huge social threat. I love her to death like she's the definition of a hero but we can't let her make it far.

I'm sad, maybe my heart wasn't in it as much this time as it was for me during Arabia? I'm not sure, I really thought I could trust Andrew, Steffen and especially Drew but I should have known better, fought harder and tried to make stronger connections with other people on my tribe.  It was a fun experience and I hate that Richie, Alex and I left so soon and that the three of us didn't get to be on a tribe together but maybe we'll get a chance to play together again one day and the Family will make it to the end for real! Right now I'm not sure who I'm rooting for.  Steffen and Drew seem to be putting out the most effort but I'm bitter that they didn't tell me my name was being thrown around.  We'll see, I'm going to follow the season closely and cheer everyone on though!
