Now suddenly it's mutant city all over the comic line They let the X-Men start a sex cult; also they can never die With no need for Inhumans they admitted that they're pretty cringe And nobody will ever give their lore a proper reading binge The MCU made Kamala a mutant like immediately Faster than you can say "bad adaptation" or "brand synergy" In short order the comics gave her the murderization hook In such a hurry it wasn't even in her own fucking book(7) Now big surprise she's coming back on the fucking sex cult island They gave it less than one whole month before they played their fucking hand So Kamala's a mutant now(8) and got a shitty mourning book(9) Which when she's coming back NEXT MONTH you might call a pretty bad look

The Fantastic Four book was discontinued for the first time since 1962 (for most of those decades they'd supported multiple titles at once) along with all associated merch tchotchkes. By 2017 there was a Twitter hashtag, #WhereAreTheFantasticFour. If you want to hear some people be driven slowly insane by this, Stormcast had a segment called Stormwatch where they analyzed any Johnny Storm appearances in a given month. We're talking deep analyses of single panels.

(2) I know I just linked them, but part of the joke is Bleeding Cool's weird place in the geek news ecosystem. They report everything first, so for the first week you know something you can't strictly confirm it's actually true.

(4) How A B-List Hero Became Hot Hollywood Property Fox could adapt him because they had the rights to all mutants, and Disney could because they had the rights to all Avengers. Some characters are both because the comics didn't use to care about this. This is the entire reason the MCU introduced a Pietro Maximoff and then killed him off. Like seriously who kills off one twin. No that was not based on any comic story.

(5) They're not currently Magneto's kids in the main comic line. Everyone hates this.

(6) This is a cheap reference to the comic storyline "House of M".

(7) They killed her off in Amazing Spider-Man (2022) #26 and none of her supporting cast was there.

Ethiopia is one of the oldest countries in Africa; the emergence of Ethiopian civilization dates back thousands of years. Abyssinia or rather "Ze Etiyopia" was ruled by the Semitic Abyssinians (Habesha) composed mainly of the Amhara and Tigray, the Cushitic Agaw. In the Eastern escarpment of the Ethiopian highlands and more so the lowlands was the home of the Arab-descended Harari that founded Sultanates such as Ifat and Adal and the Afars. In the central and south were found the ancient Sidama and Semitic Gurage, among otheres. One of the first kingdoms to rise to power in the territory was the kingdom of D'mt in the 10th century BC, which established its capital at Yeha. In the first century AD the Aksumite Kingdom rose to power in the modern Tigray Region with its capital at Aksum and grew into a major power on the Red Sea, subjugating South Arabia and Meroe and its surrounding areas. In the early fourth century, during the reign of Ezana, Christianity was declared the state religion. Ezana's reign is also when the Aksumites first identified themselves as "Ethiopians", and not long after, Philostorgius became the first foreign author to call the Aksumites Ethiopians.[The Aksumite empire fell into decline with the rise of Islam in the Arabian peninsula, which slowly shifted trade away from the Christian Aksum.[citation needed] It eventually became isolated, its economy slumped and Aksum's commercial domination of the region ended.The Aksumites gave way to the Zagwe dynasty, who established a new capital at Lalibela before giving way to the Solomonic dynasty in the 13th century. During the early Solomonic period, Ethiopia went through military reforms and imperial expansion that allowed it to dominate the Horn of Africa.

How did Ethiopia Resist Imperialism?

Ethiopia, formerly Abyssinia, is one of the world’s oldest countries. Dating to around 400 BCE, the region is documented in the in the King James Version of the Bible as the Kingdom of Axum. Along with Rome, Persia, and China, Axum was considered one of the four great powers of the era. Throughout the millennia of its history, the willingness of the country’s people—from farmers to kings—to come together as one, coupled with its geographic isolation and economic prosperity, helped Ethiopia score decisive victories against a series of global colonialist forces.

Ethiopia is considered “never colonized” by some scholars, despite Italy's occupation from 1936–1941 because it did not result in a lasting colonial administration.

Seeking to expand its already considerable colonial empire in Africa, Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1895. In the ensuing First Italo-Ethiopian War (1895-1896), Ethiopian troops won a crushing victory over Italian forces at the Battle of Adwa on March 1, 1896. On October 23, 1896, Italy agreed to the Treaty of Addis Ababa, ending the war and recognizing Ethiopia as an independent state.

On Oct. 3, 1935, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, hoping to rebuild his nation’s prestige lost in the Battle of Adwa, ordered a second invasion of Ethiopia. On May 9, 1936, Italy succeeded in annexing Ethiopia. On June 1 of that year, the country was merged with Eritrea and Italian Somalia to form Africa Orientale Italiana (AOI or Italian East Africa).

Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie made an impassioned appeal for assistance in removing the Italians and re-establishing independence to the League of Nations on June 30, 1936, gaining support from the U.S. and Russia. But many League of Nations members, including Britain and France, recognized Italian colonization.

It was not until May 5, 1941, when Selassie was restored to the Ethiopian throne, that independence was regained.

Ethiopia's ability to resist being swept up in the "Scramble for Africa" can be credited to the stability of its longstanding imperial government, beginning with the Abyssinian Empire in the 13th century, and lasting into the late 20th century, with the exception of a brief Italian occupation during the 1930s. King Menelik II, the Emperor during the period of rampant European exploration and colonization in Africa, was careful to cultivate an alliance with the smaller surrounding kingdoms of North Africa, and with European powers including Italy and Russia. When Italy began to turn the sights of their imperial ambitions toward Ethiopia, the Ethiopian military became the only African kingdom able to successfully resist the military might of European colonial power, using Russian-supplied weapons to defeat the Italian invading force at the Battle of Adwa in 1896. In the aftermath of the battle, in exchange for permanent recognition as an independent empire, Menelik II granted Italy the right to claim the neighboring territory of Eritrea under their imperial umbrella.

Ethiopians have a history of taming lions.

Many Emperors kept pet lions including Halie Selassie. Occasionally visitors like Kwame Nkrumah could pet one of the lions!

This practice of keeping lions is said to date back thousands of years to the Axumite period.The descendants of the Royal Lions currently live in the Addis Ababa zoo.

The Emperor's practice of keeping pet lions is said to date thousands of years back to the Axumite period.Years ago in Ethiopia, Lions were pets to the people, some were used like donkeys, some like dogs kept at home. Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia had lions he kept as pets, while some Ethiopians could even ride on them. These were not wild lions, they grew up with humans and became domesticated.They didn't go after human blood or other animals, lions roamed around the streets of Ethiopia and live was beautiful with them. Ethiopia is in East Africa, it's a rugged, landlocked country split by the Great Rift Valley, Ethiopia is a place of ancient culture, they believe and still hold on to ancient affairs.

Any lion that goes wild was immediately hunted killed, they were only killed if they kill a human and not animals like goats and chickens. They forbid killing and eating of any lion because lions were pets used in different palaces.

Ethiopia as a country had its origin in about 980 B.C., which makes it one of the oldest nations in the world.

Due to this very long history and an unmatched diversity of people and cultures, the country has often been described as a “museum of peoples”. With such a highly diverse population, Ethiopia houses an intricate tapestry of language and ethnic groups.

Also nicknamed the “Land of 13 Sunshine’s”, Ethiopia is often described as one of the most enthralling and enchanting places in the world – and definitely in Africa.

Ethiopia may not be the first place any traveller think of when planning or booking a next holiday, but it may just as well soon be the case. As African country Ethiopia can boast about having been at peace for at least the previous 15 years or more years and its economy is consequently one of the fastest growing in the world.

With the added bonus of an astounding diversity of landscapes, mixture of cultures and history that tracks back to when homo sapiens first started to raise itself up onto two legs, a traveller suddenly may look forward to a surprising and breath-taking travel destination.

But talking about planning and holiday dated, you probably didn’t know that this unique nation even has its own calendar?

This is but one of a myriad fascinating facts about the country, of which a number are discussed in this article. Here’s one of the illustrations I provided a couple of years ago for a PowerPoint presentation called Voices of Ethiopia. This is my interpretation of Yodit (Judit), warrior queen of the Agaw people during the 10th century A.D., who founded the Zagwe Dynasty and reigned for 40 years.

Susan Spann delivers another compelling mystery set in 16th century Japan with this sequel to her first book, “Claws of the Cat,” featuring Hiro Hattori, a master shinobi (Westerners refer to them as “ninja”), who is charged with protecting Portuguese Jesuit priest Father Mateo in the guise of a ronin translator.

In this installment, the unlikely duo are drawn into another murder case when Hiro receives a pre-dawn visit from Kazu, a brother shinobi working undercover at the shogunate. Hours earlier, someone stabbed the shogun’s cousin to death at the palace. The murder weapon? Kazu’s own dagger. While Kazu proclaims his innocence, Hiro has reason to doubt the young shinobi’s claims. Though Hiro would like nothing better than to steer clear of another investigation, the shogun, having heard of Hiro and Father Mateo’s success in solving the events of “Claws of the Cat,” summons the shinobi and foreign priest to find the killer. Delving into the case as more deaths occur, the pair uncover a plot to assassinate the shogun and overthrow the ruling clan and must take care not to lose their own lives in a power struggle while revealing the culprit.

As with Spann’s first novel, I found this book to be a great read, bridging the cultural gap between East and West, creating memorable characters, action, political intrigue, unexpected plot twists, and a fascinating exploration of feudal Japan woven into a fun mystery. Four stars.

Who are the Negas

The Negas were a group of people who lived in Ethiopia. They were known for their strong military and their rich culture. The Negas were also known for their long history of independence.

The Negas first came to power in the 13th century. They were led by a man named Yekuno Amlak. Yekuno Amlak was able to unite the Negas and defeat the Agaw, who had been ruling Ethiopia at the time.

The Negas ruled Ethiopia for over 700 years. During that time, they had many wars with other countries. They also had to deal with internal conflicts. However, they were able to maintain their independence and their culture.

In the 19th century, the Negas began to lose power. This was due to a number of factors, including European colonization and internal conflicts. In 1974, the Negas were overthrown by a communist revolution.

The Negas are still a part of Ethiopian culture today. They are remembered for their strong military, their rich culture, and their long history of independence.

I haven't posted in awhile because my life, in the past few months, was not ig worthy. I was drowning in pain and fear. I felt that a part of me was dying. So many tense episodes happened during my father's hospitalization. Mahirap palang i-share ang mga ganitong agaw buhay eksenang akala mo sa pelikula mo lang makikita like when tatay was on a vegetative state, hindi mo alam kung gigising pa sya; also, when the doctors told you na poor prognosis na, plus sabay-sabay ang infections, pneumonia to the point na kailangan na syang iintubate and the list goes on. Needless to say, I embraced pain and the pain of others, too. It was heart-breaking to witness a patient dying next to our room or a patient who's undergoing dialysis or chemotherapy. 😭 These and more terrifying scenes frightened me everyday but I (being the sole watcher) chose to battle it silently with God beside me.

Now that we're already out of the woods, I began to have processed everything and finally decided to share this vid. Hindi man masaya, puno ng pagsubok but I think it is human worthy. Loaded with life lessons, realizations and blessings parin. I couldn't count the number of times God always sends help. He surrounded me with generous people and great doctors who showed me what's possible. I can never repay them but I like to pay it forward thru this vid.

There are no captions on this vid cos the pain we felt is indescribable. This is just a living proof that my trust and faith in God soared in this journey.

I can socialize with people. I grew up without many friends, and, you know, I'm not really good at making friends. Plus, I wasn't allowed to go out when I was a kid, so I just watched people my age play together outside. I also wasn't allowed to watch TV because the only time we could watch was in the evening. That's why I played on my own. When I was in second grade, I answered my homework without the guidance of anyone. Since my mom had been working overseas before I was born, and after three months, I was born, my mom went to another country to support my needs and also to help my family. So, I was in my aunt and grandmother's care. They're not bad people, though. They took care of me properly, but somehow, they possessed a toxic mindset. I started answering my homework on my own without their help, and I was just doing fine. I didn't have a choice anyway. And now that I'm grown up, I've gotten used to being alone, and it gives me so much peace.

Then, I had a fight with my mother over the phone. This isn't the first time, though, and she keeps pointing out how 'SELFISH' I am. She says, ''Nganong di man ka makig-halobilo sa imong mga ig-agaw? Sa tanan noh, ikaw ra jud ing'ana.'' because I always stay in my room, and I only go out at night to buy something in the store. ''Nganong di man nimo ubanon si _____?'' (which is my cousin) because I enjoy my own company, that's why. And who would want to be with someone who's always focused on their phone? I'd rather be alone than be with someone and still feel lonely. That's why I just keep quiet when we argue again about that. No matter how much I explain, they don't understand what I feel.

Mga role model kumbaga, hindi ako namamangha sa mga taong makasarili at maluho, mga taong matapobre at walang malasakit sa kapwa.

quick cheat sheet for bisaya words / phrases for your character 😊

do you want to write with a bisaya fc but don't know how to honor their heritage? i have more detailed guides for that ( and you can use google as well, ofc ). but here's some bare minimum words / phrases that your character can use, courtesy of me.

note that the bisaya language does not have e, o, and f as sounds, which explains the variations in spellings for some of the words. if you encounter e or o in the spelling, please assume that's pronounced as a hard i ( for e ) or hard u ( for o ) or p ( for f ).

please like / reblog if reading or if you think this would be helpful for other people. and in case you think, "when would i even use a bisaya fc anyway?" please know that these fcs are of bisaya descent: evan mock, manny jacinto, saweetie, eva noblezada, maris racal, charlotte nicdao, and probs more celebs that you may not have known to be bisaya.

honorifics

ate ( feminine honorific for anyone older than you, although it more literally means older sister )

kuya ( masculine honorific for anyone older than you, although it more literally means older brother )

note: yes, sadly, these are gendered. however, you can use both interchangeably or find some other way to use honorifics if your character is talking to someone who is non-binary ( just ask the other writer what they'd be comfortable with! ). as a bisaya person, i feel incredibly disrespectful if i don't use honorifics, so please do keep this in mind. as a language, bisaya is very respectful. it makes me more comfortable to use honorifics than not using them, because there's also a connotation of family. so by letting someone address you with the right honorifics, you're essentially letting them see you as family as well.

keep in mind the dynamics of your characters, though. if i'm talking to my relative who is only one year older than me, chances are that i'll use an honorific for them. however, if it's my classmate who is one year older than me, i most likely won't. we're on the same level. ( a classmate who is 2+ years older, though? yes. i'd use an honorific. ) if the age gap is tiny ( 1-2 year/s ), just think: does your character see the slightly older person as "on a higher level" than them? if so, honorific time.

terms for younger people

inday / day ( feminine affectionate term for younger people ) also can be spelled dai

dodong / dong ( masculine affectionate term for younger people )

langga / pangga / other diminutives like lang / gang ( affectionate term often used for younger people meaning "beloved"; not gendered )

note: again, yes, these are gendered. :( however, like with ate/kuya, you could use inday / dodong interchangeably or perhaps use langga and its other forms instead! like with the honorifics, you have to keep in mind their dynamic. a relative calling their younger relative inday / dodong would make sense, but you calling your slightly younger classmate that would be weird.

unlike ate / kuya, the three terms above can also be used romantically. calling someone ate or kuya romantically isn't something that happens, but calling someone inday / dodong / langga romantically is. when you use these three terms romantically, the person does not really need to be younger, though i feel like you'd at least be close to the same age if you use inday / dodong romantically.

also, on the flip side, you can use inday / dodong without any affection whatsoever. total strangers can use it on you if they see that you're younger. it can even be condescending, depending on how it's used. most of the time, though, it's pretty friendly even if the person using it is a stranger.

what if your character is diaspora?

from what i can tell, even bisaya people who were raised abroad have some knowledge of these basic terms. however, if you'd rather have it that your character is completely disconnected from bisaya culture... i mean, it happens. but given that our language and culture is suppressed even in the philippines, where schools punish you for speaking bisaya, i'd really recommend making your character curious about their heritage, even if they didn't grow up with it. downright erasure would honestly be upsetting for me.

People vs. Temblor, 161 SCRA 623 (1988) - Case Digest

PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES, plaintiff-appellee,vs. VICENTE TEMBLOR alias "RONALD," defendant-appellant G.R. No. L-66884. May 28, 1988

Facts: Vicente Temblor was convicted of murder, sentenced to suffer reclusion perpertua, and ordered to indemnify the heirs of the victim 12,000 pesos.

On December 30, 1980 at around 7:30 PM, Temblor bought a half-pack of Hope cigarettes from the store of Julius Cagampang adjacent to the latter’s house. While opening a pack of cigarettes, Cagampang was shot. Temblor and another person, Anecito Ellevera, demanded the victim’s wife to bring out her husband’s firearm. Temblor fired two more shots at the fallen victim. The wife gave a suitcase to Temblor who then took the .38 caliber revolver which was inside, and fled.

Temblor and Ellevera were admittedly members of the New People’s Army and hid in the mountains. He eventually surrendered and was then arrested. 

Issue: a.) Is the proof of  motive essential when the culprit was positively identified?

b. ) Is the flight of the accused considered an implied admission of guilt?

Ruling: a.) No, the appellant’s alleged lack of motive for killing Cagampang was rejected by the trial court which opined that the defendant’s knowledge that the victim possessed a firearm was motive enough to kill him as killings perpetrated by members of the NPA for the sole purpose of acquiring more arms and ammunition for their group which are prevalent not only in Agusan del Norte but elsewhere in the country. It is known as the NPA’s “agaw armas” campaign. Moreover, proof of motive is not essential when the culprit has been positively identified.

b.) Yes, the records further show that the accused and his companion fled after killing Cagampang and taking his firearm. They hid in the mountains of Agusan del Norte. Their flight was an implied admission of guilt.

Judgment was affirmed and the civil indemnity payable to the heirs of Cagampang was increased to 30,000 pesos.

Tinulungan kita sa pag bebenta ng isda sa palengke, which is d rin naman nag tagal... Malaki na rin ang nabitawan kong pera doon. Malapit nadin ako maubos. Yes, ako ang nag bibitaw ng pera since wala naman syang nauwi na pera ng bumaba sya. Nasa asawa nya lahat. Di nagtagal nag lipat tayo ng apartment na mababa sa inuupahan ntin ng una. Di rin tayo nagtagal kasi nalaman ng asawa mo kung saan tayo naroroon. Naeskandalo tayo ng husto ng panahong yun. Pero nanatili ka parin sakin. Dahil doon, nag hanap na naman tayu ng marerentahan. Nagtindahan naman tayo dun pero wala parin ngyari. Malapit na talaga tayo maubos. Pero ok lang kasama naman kita.. Sobrang mahal na natin ang isat isa para sumuko. Di narin kita kaya bitawan kahit mejo nahihirapan narin ako. Sobra sobra nadin kasi nainsulto ang pagkatao ko dahil sa asawa mo which is oo nasasaktan ako, pero may karapatan ba ako masaktan? kabit lang ako. ako nang agaw, nakapanakit din ako pero nagmahal lang din naman ako at pinaparamdam din namn nya na mahal nya ako. Lagi sila nagtatawagan pero away lang naririnig ko kaya nakampante ako na ako nga yung pinili nya. Di ko itatangging ikinatuwa ko yun.

Dahil sa wala na kami, napilitan syang humiram ng 50k kay mama. At isasauli pagkatapos ng tatlong bwan. Mejo naging maluho kami ng panahon na yun. Dahil sa gusto namin i cherish ang isat isa nag punta kami kung san san.. hanggamg sa malapit na naman maubos ang pera.. Dahil dun, nag decide kami na uuwi nalang ako sa probisya ko sa visayas kung san ako nag aral. Naka empake na lahat ng gamit ko at pinauna ko na sa cargo dahil mag pi plane nalang ako.

Pero na cancel ang flight ko. Two times yun. Hanggang sa nag decide nalang kami tumira sa isang town sa province namin. Walang isang oras na drive mula sa kanila. So kumuha kami ng motor, ako nag down at nag monthly. Yun ang ginawa nyang service mula sa kanila hanggang sa lugar kung san ako. Hinahayaan ko sya umalis para maghanap buhay sya. Minsan ako sumama sa papunta sa town namin pero nagkasalubong kami ng asawa nya. So nag habulan ng motor hanggang sa mahuli kami. Nagkasakitan kami pero d ako lumaban. Inawat naman sya para di na ako msaktan. After a week, same scenario, nagkita kami sa daan. Gagawa na naman ng scene ang asawa nya. Kaya tinanong ko nalang yung lalaki, kung uuwi kana ba? sabi nya hindi. Nagtanong ulit ako, mahal mo paba? sabi nya hindi. Sumabad ang asawa nya na wag na kami papakita dun. Buti nalang napadaan ang classmate ko nung high school at pinasakay na ako sa motor nya kaya sila naiwan dun.

After non, Late na sya umuuwi dahil gabi daw sila lumalaot. Pero ang di ko alam pumupunta punta na pala sya sa bahay nila, sa asawa nya. Para lang naman daw sa mga bata pero sakin naman umuuwi, so hinayaan ko. Kasi tiwala ako sa kanya.

Hanggang sa nalaman ko na madalas na sya umuuwi dun, na depress ako kasabay ng pag iisip ko dahil delayed ako. Nag PT ako and confirm buntis ako. Di ko alam gagawin ko. So nag post ako ng PT sa account nya at nakita yun ng anak nya. Nagalit sya sakin dahil sa ginawa ko at pumunta sya sa bahay nila para magpaliwanag dun. Di ko alam kung ano napag usapan nila. Ng gabi umuwi sya sakin at nag usap kami. Tinanong ko sya kung itutuloy namin. Wala naman ako balak ipalaglag ang baby ko, gusto ko lang malamn kung ano isasagot nya sa tanong ko which is sabi nya bat ipapalaglag eh ginawa natin yan. Dahil dun naka hinga ako ng maluwag.
