Inheritor of Idea: Golgotham Large, pyrokinetic alien that likes psychic powers and conquering worlds. Was digging through some old stuff and spotted Sanity: Aiken's Artifact, so I decided to doodle the most dangerous cow skull in all of gaming.

Celebration of Life Mural
On April 10, 1996, local artists and members of the press gathered at Sumner Library to learn the names of the 12 young and emerging artists who would paint a landmark, but short-lived, mural on the northside of Minneapolis.
Over the following months, the selected 12 worked under the direction of local lead artists Seitu Jones and TaCoumba Aiken to bring to life the Celebration of Life mural. The design of noted muralist John Biggers, Celebration of Life used African and modern imagery to tell stories of creation and life through 24 uniquely designed panels. (A guide to the meaning of each panel is available in Special Collections.) The mural was painted on a sound barrier wall at the intersection of Lyndale Ave. N and Olson Memorial Highway and marked the first time the Minnesota Department of Transportation allowed a mural on one of its barrier walls.
Despite its celebrated beginning, the mural only stood for five years. Changes after the settlement of the Hollman v. Cisneros case led to the creation Heritage Park and plans to better connect this new housing community with the city street grid. As part of this plan, the sound barrier wall was to be removed, taking the mural with it.
On December 29, 2001, artists and the local community again gathered at Sumner Library to say goodbye to the mural. After a farewell ceremony, supporters and some of the mural's original artists walked to the wall one last time. On New Year's Eve, over the objections of protestors, the mural and the wall were demolished.

I wish I was more into superheroes, but like I never really did Marvel or DC as a kid besides the odd cartoon (x-men 2000!!!), knowing where to start with either is *impossible* and even then I'm mostly only interested in a few characters
Stepjan Sejic kinda got me into Witchblade and other top cow stuff, but like that has much the same problem as Marvel or DC
what I do have is a deep nostalgia for the video game Sanity: Aiken's Artifact (featuring Ice-T)
I did get super into Worm (I need to re-read that sometime), but I did not get on with Ward

‘Aiken’s Artifact’ [aka: ‘Sanity: Aiken’s Artifact’]
[PC] [GERMANY] [MAGAZINE, BANNER] [2001]
“Dr. Joan Aiken had discovered a way to inject a special serum into the human brain, which will grant this human powerful psychic abilities, known as "talents". Since only little babies were able to absorb the serum properly, it was injected to twin brothers, Cain and Abel, in a scientific project called "Children of Tomorrow".
When they grew up, the children took different paths. Cain joined a special law enforcement group, while Abel walked away and stepped into the world of crime. Years later, a radical organization known as Eye of Ra emerges, with the only goal to sabotage Children of Tomorrow project - according to them for ethical reasons. Cain's first mission is to infiltrate their headquarters and deal with their leader.” ~MobyGames

Dates or Time of Year for Each Nancy Drew Game
Tumblr media
whatamagicalplace made one of these charts last year. Those efforts gave me a starting point but I wanted to tweak it after doing my own research. I decided to share my final result since my version differs from hers in several ways. My reasoning for each game is discussed below; but if you have any evidence to add, feel free.
SCK: Nancy says in the opening letter she took a semester off school to visit Eloise in Florida. The banners for Senior Prom are still prominent throughout the school and the event is scheduled for May 23. Game takes place in a single day but that day could be any time in late spring semester prior to May 23.
SCK2: Homecoming banners are prominent and the event is scheduled for Sept 23. A flyer with Jake’s secret messages has a date of Sept 05, so let’s assume Jake was still alive then. The game says Nancy is there to investigate after Jake was murdered “last week.” That could mean three to seven days after the murder since it happened on a Thurs. Thus Remastered takes place in a single day but that day could be anywhere from Sept 08 to 22.
STFD: Nov 13 (confirmed with calendar). Game takes place for as many days and nights as player needs.
MHM: “Winter Festival” and Charlie studying for finals indicates late Nov to early Dec. Newspaper about the lost gold at the end is dated Mar 03; it could’ve been published after money settlement and the renovations completed though. Game takes place for as many days and nights as player needs.
TRT: December. The Spanish letter from Lisa’s friend is dated Nov 30 and acknowledges that Lisa is already in Wisconsin. By now, time should be well into Dec.
FIN: Possibly Nov (game’s release) but there are no confirmed dates on anything. It’s likely during the school year since Maya is doing the interview for the student newspaper. Game takes place over three days.
SSH: Calendar on Henrik’s desk is for the month of April. The book version takes place during the DC Cherry Blossom parade which usually occurs last week of March or early April. Game takes place for as many days as player needs. (Early April timeline would match with end of game trailer and dates for DOG.)
DOG: Jeff’s calendar is open to April. Culprit’s log book says Sally is due to move in to the cabin on April 19. Sally says she spent four weeks at Moon Lake, implying the game starts May 18. But I really don’t see Jeff’s character forgetting to change the calendar, so either Sally moved in early or she means four weeks total including seeing the property, bidding, and the final sale plus moving in. And let’s remember there’s no safe water source, so it’s unlikely Sally could live there for four weeks straight. Sally says the dogs howled a full week before they attacked the house and then they appeared every night since; maybe Sally lasted 9-14 days with the ghost dogs. The game could likely begin anywhere between Apr 28 and May 18. Then continue for as many days and nights as the player needs.
CAR: Culprit’s emails with black market dealer date from May 23 through June 04. Harlan’s appt book opens to June 09-13 with the significant clue on June 10. Game is a single day, likely on June 10, but could be as early as June 05.
DDI: June 17 (confirmed with calendar). Single day of gameplay.
SHA: Sept 15 to 17. Nancy’s airline ticket confirms arrival date in AZ. Timeline of the game takes place in three days. (Tex’s b-day is Sept 16!)
CUR: This is anybody’s guess. Hugh and Linda were married Aug 22. The lawyer’s letter to Mrs. Drake states Linda must live at the manor for another three months to fulfill the “six-month-habitation-clause” and those six months must be consecutive in the first year of marriage. Game could be late Nov at the earliest. However, frogs are chirping when Nancy arrives at the manor which is a spring thing and Bess and George say they are attending sailing camp. The fact that no one is suggesting that Linda can leave due to health reasons and start the six months over when she’s well again makes me think the year is half gone already. So the game could also be taking place in April or May at the latest.
CLK: May 07 (confirmed with calendar). Single day of gameplay.
TRN: We see snow in Copper Gorge, but it’s in Colorado and snow can be any time of year there. Frank and Lori are wearing the puffy vests and everyone else has jackets and sweaters. Fatima says it’s the off-season now and summer is the busy season. Makes me think winter is my best guess.
DAN: Game takes place for as many days as player needs. The newspaper on Day 1 is dated Aug 28. Newspapers continue to appear through Sept 06, which publishes that the journalists are negotiating for raises and the sounds of the impending strike are occurring outside JJ’s apartment. Day 11 (Sept 07) and onward have no more newspapers appear on the kitchen table. Let’s say Aug 28 to Sept 07 for simplicity.
CRE: Mike’s calendar is set to March. Quigley’s tape recorder log updates as of Mar 28. Craven’s shipping records say his latest sample was sent to Aikens Biotech on Apr 09. Game takes place in a single day, probably Apr 09 or 10. (Mike just hasn’t turned over the calendar yet)
ICE: Newspaper in the lodge is dated Jan 13. Elsa’s resignation letter is dated Jan 15. Lodge computer says Lupe checked in on Jan 15 and she noticed the lack of maid services for days. Game likely takes place that same week, starting maybe Jan 18 at the earliest, and lasts over several days and nights.
CRY: May 31 (confirmed with calendar). Single day of gameplay.
VEN: Newspaper in the Ca’ terrace says chalice was stolen “this morning” and the police records say the theft happened Jan 25. When Nancy nabs Nico on the stakeout, the next day’s newspaper is dated Feb 03. Since game takes place over several days, it likely plays from Jan 25 to Feb 03.
HAU: Night of May 28. The wedding is set for June 01. The end dialogue says Kyler and Matt couldn’t stop saying “I love you” from when the rocket launched to four days later, which was their wedding day.
RAN: The float plane pilot says resorts like Dread Isle shut down in the summer for “hurricane season” in the Bahamas. And the game was released in July. Since we see the map that charts all of Nancy’s past cases (including HAU) so the game is after the wedding on Jun 01. But there is no reference to the current date aside from “summer.” Single day of gameplay.
WAC: The essay Mel receives from her teacher with the plagiarist comments is dated Nov 21. Since two more nights of sleep are required to trigger events in the game, we can figure that the game takes place from Nov 21 to 23.
TOT: Scott’s calendar is open to May and filled in with code until the 19th. The log book of precipitation is filled out until May 24. Game likely takes place from May 20 to 25.
SAW: The TE-Japan brochure in Nancy’s teacher tote says her exchange program runs from Jun 01 to Sept 15 with different durations of 2 weeks, 3-4 weeks, and 5-8 weeks. With no specific date in the game and the player taking as many days and nights as needed to solve the mystery, we have to settle for saying it takes place in “summer.”
CAP: Karl’s daily calendar is on page March 12. When Nancy finds the final forged email from “Markus” she remarks that it has tomorrow’s date, which is Mar 13. Game is a single night of play on Mar 12.
ASH: Newspaper and police report of Nancy’s arrest say the game is done in a single day of August 18. The fire took place on Aug 17.
TMB: It’s the desert and there are no dates on any clue in the game. Since Lily is a student and Abdullah and Jon are professors, perhaps the game takes place in summer between any busy semester/class schedules.
DED: Ellie’s notepad in the control booth says she gave the coil demo to Nancy on Oct 29. Nancy arrived in daylight hours but since Ellie is on the night shift, the demo could have taken place on either side of midnight which means the game could start on either Oct 28 or 29. (Nancy arrived 10/28, night fell and midnight passed, then Ellie gives demo 10/29 OR Nancy arrives 10/29, night fell and it’s not midnight yet, then Ellie gives the demo still on 10/29.) Game continues for as many days and nights as the player needs.
GTH: Jessalyn’s phone recorded her bachelorette party antics from the night of Oct 27 to early morning of Oct 28. Addison says Jess had vanished for the second time after sun-up. It is unclear how many days Jessalyn has been missing before Nancy arrives on the island. Nancy was deep asleep when Savannah calls her for help, which means Jess has been gone at least a full day. Then Nancy arrives on the island at night which either means it’s evening on the same day of Savannah’s call or another day has passed by the time Nancy gets there. Oct 29 is the earliest possibility. Game takes place over three nights. Likely set between Oct 29 and Nov 01.
SPY: The newspaper reports that July 14 is near and it will be the eighth anniversary of Revenant’s first attack. Alec’s letter documents that his sister was kidnapped on the first of the month and has not been seen since. Game takes place between Jul 02 and 14. While Nancy cannot sleep or change the time of day, it is hard to believe that traveling back and forth throughout Scotland’s towns and the different phases of the spy operation all take place in a single day.
MED: Summer in the southern hemisphere, so datewise it’s set between Dec and Feb. Again there’s no sleep or time of day transitions but the elimination rounds likely take place over several days.
LIE: Employee timecards are recorded through July 05, the artifact exchange log is filled out through July 06, and the packing slip on the open crate says received July 06. Game is a single day of play, likely on July 06 or 07.
SEA: Soren’s winter guest log says Nancy is visiting in January. Game takes place for as many days and nights as player needs.
MID: Minion’s plane ticket TO Austria where the game begins is dated Oct 26 and the game goes into Halloween.

Transit of Venus
In Aiken, SC, stands a strange-looking cage on stilts that  not many people could identify. Mounted on the plaque below it is the following, baffling inscription:  VENUS-DURCHGANG, 1882
DEUTSCHE STATION 11
5H, 26M., 6W. 33° 33′ 51′’ N.
So what is it?
In the late 1870s, German astronomers had calculated that something extremely unusual was going to happen in the skies on December 6, 1882, and they wanted to be sure they observed it clearly, unhampered by bad weather. The only way they could be reasonably certain of that was to send various teams to a variety of places in the world, all equipped to take measurements they wanted to record. What they were so anxious to see was not a comet or a supernova. It was only the planet Venus coming between the earth and the sun.
It was not sound like much, but by measuring exactly how long it took for Venus to cross in front of the sun, it would be possible to calculate how far the earth was from the sun, how far Venus was, and a host of other bits of information that would help us figure out where our planet was located in the solar system. If they missed this opportunity, it wouldn’t happen again for a long time (in fact, the next Transit of Venus will occur about a century from now). Teams were sent to the sunniest places that meteorology could recommend in those days: Tahiti, Africa, and Aiken, South Carolina.
The Aiken-bound team created quite a local interest as they began erecting their portable observatory. With German thoroughness, they commandeered a city block bounded by Laurens and Newberry streets and Barnwell and Edgefield avenues and turned it into a fabricated towers and their equipment, and then they settled in behind a wall they’d built to keep out annoyingly inquisitive kids.
When the day of the interplanetary event finally arrived, armed guards were hired to hold everyone away from the camp until Venus had made her celestial crossing. Horses and wagons were routed blocks away to avoid jiggling the delicate instruments of measurement. Even the mayor of Charleston was denied access, after he had come all the way to Aiken to witness the achievement of a scientific landmark.
When it was over, the Germans put away their notes, packed up their instruments and departed. The only thing left was a souvenir of their peculiar visit was the tower of their largest observatory. In following years, the tower served many purposes as it wandered around to several locations in Aiken: a trellis, a gazebo, and a pseudo-jungle gym. In 1995, its value as a historical artifact was finally recognized, and it was moved to stand next to the Aiken County Museum. It’s been there ever since, awaiting the next time the goddess of Love decides to come between us and the light of day.

Why women in football won’t have a future until they have a past
Tumblr media
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is starting to tell the story of women in football, but they’re barely scratching the surface.
There have been no women inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. To most fans, that’s not surprising: There’s never been a woman who’s played in the NFL, after all. Coaching platitudes still suggest that the sport is a way to “separate the men from the boys” — a cliche that has its roots on the battlefield, which has, ironically, accepted women more readily than the gridiron.
This week the Canton mecca is recognizing women players and coaches for what appears to be the first time since 1983, though not with gold jackets. Four cases in the museum’s Pro Football Today Gallery are now devoted to the achievements of women in football, specifically spotlighting those who’ve spurred “firsts” within the past five years: Jen Welter, the NFL’s first woman coach; Sarah Thomas, the NFL’s first full-time woman referee; Katie Sowers, the NFL’s first out LGBTQ coach and Beth Mowins, the first woman to call a nationally televised NFL game. They join Lesley Visser, Andrea Kremer and Charean Williams, who have all previously received awards from the Hall for their contributions to football journalism.
Check out the “Women in Pro Football” exhibit that just opened at @ProFootballHOF. It features Artifacts from women’s professional football pioneer @jwelter47 and current @49ers asst. coach @KatieSowers. There are currently 11 female majority owners in the @NFL pic.twitter.com/ey3NvbObo7
— Jason Aikens (@jason_aikens) July 25, 2019
According to Rachel Knapp, a curatorial and exhibits specialist at the Hall of Fame, the museum started to receive artifacts from women in the game around the time she was hired in 2015 — the same year Welter and Thomas made headlines for their trailblazing roles in the NFL.
“It was like a perfect storm of items we were getting in that made us look around and realize that we weren’t necessarily portraying women as strong figures in football,” Knapp says. “They were in more of a supporting role as mothers or, you know, cheerleaders. But women have really made strides in the past couple years, and we’re reaching out to different people to collect items — I think before maybe it wasn’t seen as a priority.”
The rationale for the exhibit, currently a temporary display that the Hall plans to turn into something larger and permanent, goes beyond simply having the material, though. “There’s definitely a need to tell that story, just because we have so many young girls coming through and they don’t see themselves represented,” Knapp adds, pointing to the athletes who visit the Hall of Fame complex for various tournaments. “It’s not something that we had actively collected before, but we’re seeing a rise in our visitorship in terms of girls that play football.”
Her observation is borne out by the numbers: While boys’ participation in tackle football declines, girls’ has grown. But players at every level remain the subject of curious human interest stories, though just about every possible milestone has been passed: Antoinette Harris only may have been the first woman to receive a scholarship to play college football earlier this year.
The search for more specific barriers to break further points to why women’s entry into the football canon is not just timely, but actually long overdue. Women have played football — tackle, flag and touch — more or less since each sport’s genesis in the late 19th century. Their stories have just been poorly documented, framed as one-offs and novelties for over a century. “Football Game By Girls” begins an oft-cited 1896 story from the Sun, which describes a game between two teams of women in New York that had to be called by police when men, apparently titillated by the tackling, rushed the field. That piece mentions no “firsts,” suggesting that while it might have been unusual, it wasn’t unique.
Tumblr media
The Sun, 1896
The Women’s Football Hall of Fame was founded last year (after a false start in 2014) to try to correct that persistent misrepresentation, inducting Welter and Sowers alongside 36 others whose careers span professional leagues like the Women’s Football Alliance, the Independent Women’s Football League and the U.S. Women’s Football League, as well as the undefeated Team USA.
“I have mixed feelings about the need for a Women’s Football Hall of Fame,” Welter says. “Obviously, it’s a way of ensuring those who never played with the spotlights or dollars attached get recognized, and that is long overdue, and these women deserve it. However, as someone who has been in both the women’s and men’s game, I must say, separate is far from equal, and any Hall of Fame should recognize both women and men.”
Women play football, and coach football, and even more self-evidently work in all corners of front offices, league administration, and media. None of it is new, but until the story of their love of the game is told in a way that emphasizes their longevity and resilience instead of their difference, it will continue to seem that way.

CHILDHOOD baby broccoli
Pre-canon, headcanon based. FC: Liam Aiken & Louis Hynes. Reg is a timid child, growing up in Cleveland. This childhood is not a happy one; Reg’s mother is particular and controlling, his sister is caring but often gone, and his father is completely out of the picture.
STARFLEET ACADEMY seclusive tendencies
Pre-canon. After entering the Academy at age 17, Reg follows the operations track, with a specific focus in general engineering and systems diagnostics. He is a good student, but noted for his tendency to keep to himself.
ENTERPRISE flagship of the federation
TNG canon. Reg is a Systems Diagnostics Engineer aboard the Enterprise D, holding the rank Lieutenant Junior Grade. At first he struggles to fit in, turning to the holodeck to cope and eventually succumbing to full-blown holo-addiction. However, with help from Chief Engineer La Forge and Counselor Troi, Reg recovers from this and slowly but surely finds himself a place aboard as one of the crew’s top engineers. He also participates in some of Dr. Crusher’s theater programs, and is the preferred cat-sitter for Data’s cat Spot.
NTH DEGREE the person i’ve always wanted to be
TNG canon for the episode “The Nth Degree”, subverse of above. After an encounter with a Cytherian probe, Reg’s intelligence, confidence, and artistic abilities have all been vastly increased to far beyond that of a typical human. His personality has also been altered, driving him to integrate himself with the ship’s computer via the holodeck. As the computer, he initiates a deep space jump into unknown space, where the crew meets the Cytherians themselves, who are peaceful. Reg is then returned to normal.
JUPITER STATION the only engineer i trust
Canon, between TNG & VOY. Due to his expertise in holographic technology, Reg is briefly assigned to Jupiter Station to assist Dr. Lewis Zimmerman in the creation of the Emergency Medical Hologram. Though their natures seem direct opposites, Reg and Zimmerman remain friends well after this short assignment. By now, he holds the rank of Lieutenant.
PATHFINDER how lonely that must be
VOY canon. Reg is assigned to the Pathfinder Project on Earth, based in StarFleet’s headquarters in San Francisco. Their main object is to locate and contact the starship Voyager, lost in the Delta Quadrant. Reg has a bold idea to contact the ship, which is turned down; determined, he breaks into the project headquarters and implements his plan anyway, risking his entire career. It is successful, and Reg is able to maintain semi-regular communication with the starship, befrending a good number of the crew.
PROFESSOR no different than the borg queen
VOY post-canon. Years after Pathfinder Project, Reg, now a Commander, returns to StarFleet Academy as a professor. Though he mostly sticks to engineering and astrophysics classes, he enjoys a special class on the Borg co-taught with Admiral Janeway every few years.
MIRROR ( TERRAN EMPIRE ) making an opportunity
Mirror universe, based on the TNG comic series “Mirror Broken”. The great Terran Empire has fallen to the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance… mostly. A handful of ships survive at the edge of Klingon-Cardassian space, gathering their forces and hoping to one day take back what was theirs. After years of serving aboard the I.S.S. Stargazer as an engineer, Reg finally seizes his chance for greater power by assassinating Security Chief Tasha Yar. Now appointed the new Chief of Security, he is part of Picard’s senior staff as they take over the Terran Empire’s newest starship, the I.S.S. Enterprise.
MIRROR ( TERRAN RESISTANCE ) the world turned upside down
Mirror universe, inspired by DS9 canon. Reg’s mother is a Terran collaborator, willing to trade in her own people for a few basic comforts. Growing up, Reg learned very quickly that anxiety and timidity wouldn’t cut it – he had to learn to defend himself. His sister Jax helped him a great deal, teaching him how to fight. At times, the siblings even dare to trust each other.
However, when Jax overhears their mother’s plans to trade Reg into slavery, they take matters into their own hands, killing her in her sleep. After that, they flee to the other side of the quadrant, joining the Terran Resistance. Reg quickly proves his usefulness as an engineer, while Jax struggles to prove anything at all. Finally, she goes alone on a dangerous mission… and never returns. She is presumed dead.
VOYAGER CREWMAN set a course for home
Voyager based AU. After serving aboard the Enterprise E, Reg briefly transfers to the starship Voyager for what is meant to be a three week repair of the ship’s systems. However, it turns into far more than that when Voyager is thrown 70,000 lightyears away into the Delta Quadrant. Now a permanent member of the crew, Reg is in the running for Chief Engineer, losing the position to former Maquis B'Elanna Torres. There are few hard feelings, however, and he does all he can to assist her and be one of her top engineers.
MODERN welcome to the world of tomorrow
AU set vaguely during modern times. Year range is flexible anywhere from the 1960s to present day. Reg’s mother is a very rich lawyer in Cleveland, Ohio; his father is out of the picture, kicked out of the house during his childhood. After going to community college for a few years, Reg moves to a small town to become a mechanic, working for Geordi La Forge. He lives in a tiny, dirty trailer half a mile away from his work, where he has essentially adopted all the stray cats in the area.
HARRY POTTER draco dormiens nunquam titillandus
AU based on the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. A full detailed timeline can be found here. For Reg/Liz specific verse, info on their children can be found here.
As far as Reg knows, he is a perfectly normal human – until Minerva McGonagall shows up at his home one day to explain that he is actually a wizard. All of the random occurrences and accidental cat summonings suddenly make sense. Alicia is determined that her son will not be any part of this nonsense, but finally agrees to let him attend Hogwarts School of Witchdraft and Wizardry, just so he can learn to control his abilities.
Reg’s sister takes him to Diagon Alley, where he gets his school supplies and his first wand, larch wood with unicorn hair core. When he arrives at Hogwarts, he is immediately sorted into Hufflepuff. Though he struggles with his magic at first, he grows stronger and stronger as his confidence increases, until he is one of the most powerful wizards in his class.
During his time at Hogwarts, Reg also discovers that he is not a Muggle-born, as he always believed; his father, whom he has not seen since age seven, is also a wizard, which technically makes Reg a half-blood. It takes several years for Reg to find and reach out to his father, but he eventually does. Both are Hufflepuffs.
After graduating, Reg moves to Hogsmeade, where he works for several years as a magical repairman. He discovers he has a knack for making magic and Muggle technology play along. Eventually, after the Second Wizarding War, he returns to Hogwarts as the new Muggle Studies professor. Several years later, he becomes the new head of Hufflepuff house.
STARGATE chevron one encoded
AU based on the Stargate television series. Can be based on SG-1 and/or Atlantis. Dr. Reginald Barclay is one of several scientists assigned to work at Area 51, studying alien artifacts brought back to Earth as part of the top secret Stargate program. Though he does good work if assigned to something small on his own, he struggles to make himself heard when in collaboration with his colleagues, though he is slowly getting better.
Eventually, he is pulled from Area 51 and sent to Stargate Command itself, where he works under Colonel Samantha Carter. Here, he struggles even more to fit in, as everyone else has quite the reputation and he is just… some nervous new scientist. But he manages to prove his worth.
When crew is being chosen for the Atlantis mission, Reg reluctantly volunteers, despite being terrified of the Stargate. Upon reaching the alien city itself, Reg is surprised to find that he loves it, all the strange spires and endless views of the ocean planet. He is less enthusiastic about his boss, Dr. Rodney McKay, but he tries his best regardless.
THE ORVILLE we have got to get better people
AU based on The Orville television series. Most backstory information is the same as main timeline verses. Lieutenant Reginald Barclay is a recent transfer to the U.S.S. Orville, working in the Engineering department.
POKEMON gotta catch em all
AU based on the Pokemon franchise. Mun is mostly familiar with the first three generations. Throughout all of his childhood, Reg dreams of being a Pokemon master, like most children. However, that is not to be. His mother demands that he find a sensible job, and forget that foolish nonsense. His only Pokemon for many years is a Meowth named Mira, who he found abandoned and injured and took care of. Mira eventually evolves into a beautiful Persian who will not leave her owner’s side.
Reg eventually becomes a mechanic and handyman in Cerulean City, where he makes a decent enough living. His older sister, meanwhile, pursues her dream of becoming a Pokemon trainer, finally settling down near Saffron City. As the years pass, Reg starts amassing a small team of Pokemon: his Persian, Mira; a Glitten with a mangled paw named Wrigley; and a Dragonite named Oscar.
FARSCAPE rattlers in the stomach
AU based on the Farscape television series. Reg is born on a small Sebacean colony near the Uncharted Territories, and he grows up knowing that he may one day be conscripted into Peacekeeper service. When the day finally comes, it’s all he can do not to cry as he is pulled away from his family and forced to live aboard a cold, harsh military vessel.
Soon enough, everyone learns that he simply isn’t suited for a soldier’s lifestyle; he is too hesitant and soft. To everyone else, sending him off to be a tech is a demotion, but for Reg, it’s perfect. It’s work he can actually do, and work that doesn’t require any actual combat. As long as he doesn’t think about what he may be supporting, everything is fine…
WARRIORS may starclan light your path
AU based on the Warriors book series. During a particularly harsh WindClan leaf-bare, two kits are born. Sparrowkit is named for the color of her fur, while Stammerkit is named for the odd way he shakes and trembles. Little did anyone know how accurate Stammerkit’s name would later turn out to be.
As apprentices, Sparrowpaw excels in all areas, particularly fighting, while Stammerpaw struggles with everything. Eventually, he grows into a good hunter, but his fighting skills lack. Sparrowpaw becomes a warrior, called Sparrowsong, before him, much to Stammerpaw’s dismay. After several more moons of hard work, Stammerpaw eventually earns his warrior name as well: Stammertail.
Though not a gifted fighter, and not a good choice for a mentor, Stammertail is fiercely loyal to his Clan and serves them in his own ways. He is an excellent hunter and tracker, and often can be found helping the queens with their kits or helping the medicine cats gather herbs. However, he tends to freeze up during battles, and is often left behind to guard the camp.
REG & D'RORAH daughter of light
With drorah-walks. When an immortal being decides to relive a human childhood to rekindle her connection with humanity, she chooses Reg to be her father. He agrees, and D'rorah Philosophy enters his life as his five-year-old daughter, the result of a weekend on Risa who has just lost her mother. Reg has no memory of making this agreement, fully believing that this child is truly his daughter… until an accident in engineering causes amnesia. When his memories return, so do his memories of what D'rorah truly is. However, he decides to continue, unwilling to leave the child he loves without a father just because he’s afraid.
Reg and D'rorah are inseparable, even when she is grown up and moved out. D'rorah eventually adopts a Cardassian girl from a Bajoran orphanage named Rilla, who Reg loves to spoil rotten. When Reg dies, D'rorah’s memories of who she really is will slowly return, and she will have to live on forever without him…
REG & LIZ kidnapped
With nashforhire. Elizabeth Nash needs to hide from some former business partners. The best way to do that is with a bit of a human shield; she chooses Reg. After kissing him, running through Deep Space 9 with him while under fire, and taking him all the way to the Gamma Quadrant, no one would expect Reg to want anything to do with her ever again. And yet… he does. They slowly become unlikely friends, and then more, until Reg finally asks her on a date. While Reg is still stationed on the Enterprise, he and Liz have a long-distance relationship, seizing every opportunity to see each other that they possibly can. However, even that finally isn’t enough, and Reg transfers to DS9 to live with her and work for Chief O'Brien. Eventually they are married and have four children: Sofia, Oliver, and the twins, Charlotte and Victoria.
RUNAWAYS ( REG & LIZ ) partners in crime
With nashforhire. Reg and Liz have been best friends since they were children. Considering their respective childhoods, there are some days where they are the only good thing in each other’s lives. Eventually, at age sixteen, Liz decides she can’t do it anymore and decides to run away, leaving Earth behind entirely. After some hesitation, Reg agrees to go with her. It isn’t easy, and there are several close calls where StarFleet almost catches them to drag Reg back to his mother. But eventually, they have their own ship, the Nomad, and run their own shipping business together.
REG & AELLA she’s on my mind
With empathicstars. Reg slowly befriends a Betazoid communications officer aboard the Enterprise, Lieutenant Aella Moore. Eventually, he has a fairly serious crush on her, but before he has any chance of asking her out, the away mission from hell happens. The two are accidentally beamed into a warzone, and Reg throws himself in front of a phaser blast to protect Aella. The shot should have killed him. But Aella, trained in her telepathy by Vulcans, initiates a mind meld to keep him alive. The meld has strange effects on both of them, even after their return to the ship, and neither of them quite knows how to move forward…
REG & Q show me the stars
With qisforqaos. Q has always been a nuisance to Reg. Always. That is, until he starts taking a liking to Reg and showing him around the universe… befriending him… and perhaps even more…
REG & MURDOCK oh brother
With drowningvoices. Reg and his twin brother have always done everything together, until StarFleet. That’s when their assignments took them different directions, and while Murdock rose in the ranks, Reg barely made it past Ensign. Then one day, Reg got the news – his brother had been in a horrible accident, and his mind was no longer what it was. Now, Murdock lives full-time in a psychiatric hospital, where Reg visits as often as he can. The two are extremely protective of each other, even still.
REG & ALARA only fools rush in
With flightxless; The Orville AU. Reg and Alara meet during less than ideal circumstances, when they both have been captured and must escape together. A few weeks later, however, Reg transfers aboard the Orville, and upon realizing they are now on the same ship, he works up the courage to ask her out.
OHANA ad augusta per angusta
Group verse, AOS based. Primarily on Discord. After encountering a strange anomaly, Reg has been thrown back to the Enterprise A of an alternate timeline. With almost no chance of getting home, he does what he can to settle into this new life, primarily working with the ship’s prototype holodeck system.
