"Eeee! This is going to be so much fun! I didn't get to enter the last two pageants, so I'm really excited for this one! Plus, I get to pair up with Kanade! I'm so excited! It was a little odd dressing up like her, but I didn't mind much. Really, much of my wardrobe I kinda copied from her, Keiko, and Sumire of Shinagawa, so dressing up with more dark clothes wasn't all that bad. I kinda like it!"

1. "Up next, we have, perhaps, the youngest couple in this competition. Both women have only been dating for approximately a year now, but that doesn't take away the love and care they have for each other! They've been friends for far longer than that, and both know each other inside and out! We'll see if that knowledge, and their young age and cuteness takes them far in this couples' pageant! Please welcome, the popular YouTuber with hundreds and thousands of fans, Criss "Paradox" Hiromi of Akihabara, and her partner, the first-ever winner of the Ms. HypMic Pageant, 2023's most beautiful and talented woman in all of Japan, Kanade "Spooky" Alarie of Kyoto!"

2. "Next up, we have perhaps the most hot-blooded duo in all of this competition. ...Well, I say 'hot-blooded', but really, these contestants are actually fairly level-headed... so long as you don't say or do anything to piss them off! If you do, well... you can only blame yourself if you wind up with third-degree burns! The competition will really heat up with these two, so let's give them a heated welcome, shall we? First, we have one of the most decorated chefs in all of Japan, Luis "El Dorado" Kōkyū of Aoyama! And his partner, well-known librarian and model, Aoba "Guinevere" Yamamura of Kumamoto!"

3. "It's best to think of the song, "Opposites Attract" for this next couple, because these two lovebirds are on opposite sides of the law! One is a dedicated officer of truth and justice, while the other is not afraid to bend the rules behind her computer screen! Despite that, they've managed to both catch each other's eye and have been in a "not-so secret" relationship with one another ever since! They've got knowledge in various departments, but will that knowledge help them both in this competition? We'll find out! Please welcome, the man who was once called "Japan's 'It' Boy", Lyall "Corvus" Shina of Niigata, and the infamous hacker and inventor, Kaoru "Arachne" Shinozaki of Edogawa!"

4. "This next... well, no offense, but can they really be called a "couple"? Because, and I say this as nicely as I can, but their relationship seems more in-tune with a master and a servant. ...And seeing as how one of the contestants has a leash around his neck, well... "I've not seen her around here much, if at all, really. I think she tries to avoid Minato like the plague. Truthfully, I only know her because my son likes her comic book or whatever it is that it's called. Besides that, I also know of her because of Aika Yumi. I'll admit, at first, I thought it was a coincidence that they shared the same name. After all, having the same surnames is quite common in today's world. Back when I lived in America, I couldn't tell you how many Johns, Bills, or Franks, I knew. Talk about originality." Kai rolled his eyes at the memory.

"Anyway, I later found out that the two of them were mother and daughter. And apparently, she despises Aika due to her lifestyle. ...While I can understand feeling some sort of frustration about the way your mother lives her life, from what Aika tells me, she's tried on multiple occasions to try to make up with you, kid. Take it from me, you're better off trying to make peace with your mom, ASAP. I'm probably not the best person to speak about such things, but... just trust me on this, kid. You'll regret it for the rest of your life, otherwise."

Criss Hiromi

"I've seen this young girl wandering throughout Minato a few times in the past. Apparently, she fashions herself as a 'paranormal investigator'. I don't know if that's such a wise career path, but at least she's having fun. I just hope she's making sure to do ample research on these places she's going to. From what Zakari tells me, some of the places in this country aren't for the faint of heart. I'll take his word for it."

Nikki Yoshie

"Would you believe me if I told you that I've actually had to do music for some video game soundtracks? It's true. I was the head producer for one video game called 'Fight Barrage'. It was a pretty obscure game made back in the 90's, but they wanted to do a reboot with new graphics and a killer soundtrack, so they asked me to make up themes for the characters. It was... interesting, to say the least."

"Anyway, I first met this young girl because she was beta-testing the game. I didn't recognize her at first, since I don't really pay attention to video games, but I later found out that she was Nikki Yoshie, the #5 video game player in the world. ...Huh, I met an actual celebrity, and I didn't even know it. Maybe Zakari was right. Maybe I am old-school..."

"This is the probably that second Akihabara team I've heard about. ...If I'm being honest, these three do more to represent Akihabara than the previous team we expounded on, Pixel Syndicate. Not saying they're tougher, but... well, whichever team comes out ahead, they'll have definitely earned it. I wish the both of them the best of luck."

The day had long passed since Sumire Shinomiya’s birthday and the morning daylight had flooded the city of Shinagawa.

Sumire begrudgingly made her way to the front door upon hearing the front doorbell ring.

“Package for… Sumire Shinomiya?” said the deliveryman.

Sumire, still half asleep, groaned and took the package inside without much thought.

Sumire tore through the cardboard box in her half asleep state.

“Happy Birthday, Diabla

I don’t know if this got to you in time, but I did have to do something for your birthday. I’m always online if you wanna join another game, whether it’s you being on the same team as me or going against me. I don’t plan on losing. Anyway. Enjoy your new controller stand. Hope you like Skeletor.”

Sumire reached inside the additional box inside the package and peered inside.

Sumire snorted at the stand and took it out, looking at it “Ha..” She chuckled and then winced at the sudden headache, it’s all fun and games until you’re hungover as shit the next day, she knew she should’ve said no to Trickster when he gave her the sixth absinthe drink. She made a mental reminder (that she would soon forget, c’mon, the girl was drunk as hell how would you expect her to remember shit in this state) to kill Trickster the next time she saw him or at the very least, get rid of his alcohol collection, the dude was a good chemist but holy shit was he a horrific mixologist.

Setting the stand on her nightstand, the now 20 year old flopped back into bed with the gracefulness of a dead fish and immediately went back into dreamland, going back to her imaginary date with her boyfriend, Jiro.

"Unlike her leader, I know of this woman, but only because she's had to do business here in Aoyama, capturing up any sort of miscreant or filth that thought we here in Aoyama would protect them from the law. Ha, how foolish! Thankfully, none of the people here have to deal with her... at least, I hope. If they had, then they deserve to get taken by her for trying to mar Aoyama's good name."

"I think I recall seeing this young woman at the convention I spoke about before where that gamer girl from this same city attended. I recognized her before I did this girl, however. Unlike her, she, at least, was deserving of her fame for being on a ranking. This young woman, however, what exactly is she known for? Simply showing off her skillset on camera? Peh, I tell you, it's astonishing how peasants flock to people who are just like them..."

"This has to be the third team to represent Akihabara now. I wasn't aware that that city had grown in popularity so much that numerous teams wanted to form there. Honestly, I'm a little insulted no other team wished to form here in Aoyama. ...But then again, maybe that is because we've already crushed any and all peons that had any thought of trying to claim Aoyama as their own.

"But that is neither here nor there. Honestly, I don't really know what to expect from this team. A therapist, a bail enforcer, and a girl who enjoys showing off her video game status on camera. Between them and that other Akihabara team, the 'Anime Corpse' or whatever they are calling themselves, I don't know which of the two teams are better or worse. But like them, I'm not holding my breath that this team gets far."

Evening descended upon the city of Saitama, as the previously pristine azure sky turned into a faded celadon blue.

A gloved hand knocked on the door to the Miyuki residence.

No longer surprised, Sayaka made a beeline for the front door and was met with a young woman with bright red hair.

“Miyuki,” Shian Meizono said, her voice curt. “Happy Birthday. I’m up here for yet another hunt. Thought I’d stop by while I’m here and send in something for you.”

She pulled a palm-sized chiffon-pink box from her giant duffel bag. She quickly took Sayaka’s hand and placed the box in her palm.

“You know, since you’ve helped me out a number of times on my hunts. And speaking of ‘hunt,’ I should get going. Okay, bye now.”

Before Sayaka could respond, Shian had turned the other way and headed for her black sports car and drove off.

Bewildered by how short the greeting was, Sayaka carefully opened the box and pulled out what was inside.

It was a gorgeous pink bottle of perfume, the cap shaped into a beautiful mermaid curled into a ball with her back against a crescent moon.

Sayaka peered at the labels on the back of the box, reading the contents to herself.

‘Forever Blooming Flower’

‘Top notes: Watermelon, Convallaria majalis, Jasmine, Tea.’

‘Middle notes: Gardenia, Daffodils, Cantaloupe’

‘Base notes: Grass, Bellflower, Vetiver’

“Um...” Sayaka blinked, confused as she watch the vehicle drive off into the upcoming night before slowly closing the door. While Sayaka had met all sorts of people, especially since entering the Division Rap Battles, it was still quite something that she had yet to get used to but it did make the brunette happy that people from other divisions and some she hadn’t met before were taking the time out of their days to wish her a happy birthday or give her a gift. Speaking of, she looked at the bottle of perfume the mysterious redhead woman gave her and smiled, taking off the cap and spraying a small amount, she hummed at the delightful scent that filled her senses. “How lovely.” She smiled.

"Sorry... but I don't really know much about this girl. I think Elliot-kun knows more about her though. Apparently, she works as a... "streamer", was it? A person who basically records themselves doing something. In her case, she shows herself playing video games. I guess that's why Elliot likes her so much. Me, I'm never really understood the fascination behind them. If I want to get lose in a fantasy world, that's what a good book is for."

"Akihabara is certainly an interesting place. I guess it makes sense that Elliot-kun finds time to visit there every month or so. Even Yorii goes by there sometimes to do concerts or shows. That's... not really my scene, unfortunately. But besides that, I'm pretty sure they aren't the only Akihabara team. "...Why does this woman seem so familiar? I'm sure I've heard her name somewhere before. But where?" Ace thinks long and hard, staying in his current position for approximately a minute. "...Oh yeah! Now I remember! She was once a race car driver who had to retire after an accident on the tracks. Admittedly, I'm not big on race car driving, but her accident was on the news for almost a fortnight. It was nothing short of a miracle that she survived, though she unfortunately had to retire from driving after she had lost her leg. I hadn't heard she went into therapy. It's quite a career change, but I guess she just wanted something different."

"As far as her current profession goes, well... keep this under your hats, but... I was actually admitted to hypnotherapy during my counseling sessions back after my grandfather died. I was skeptical, but... surprisingly, the sessions did make me feel better. I don't know if it was hypnotism, but it did work since it sped up my recovery. I don't need it now though, but... maybe I'll find some excuse to visit her office."

"A bail enforcement agent? ...Huh, and here I thought jobs like that only existed in the States. But I guess every country has a need for bounty hunters to go searching for people who try to evade the law. I wonder if she works with Kyler. That's gotta be a nightmare and a half for her..."

"I think I've heard of her. She's a live streamer who does video games, right? I've watched her videos a few times whenever I got stuck on a part in a video game, but that's far and few between. Like I said in the past, video games aren't really my interest much anymore. Not enough free time."

Album 01

Summary: Anika Kiyozaki receives a rather peculiar invitation from Chuohku to join the territory battles. Already having little faith in herself, she is unsure of who to recruit. In the meantime, Shian Meizono receives word that a client of hers has become a wanted fugitive for the court and she is now gearing up for a brand new hunt. And just when Makina Setsukura decides enough is enough and begins to ache for some type of escape from reality, neither Anika, Shian, or Makina could have ever imagined what bizarre events would be coming their way.

You simply brush her off and refuse to even give her the time of day because you feel she can never be forgiven or redeemed. “Nikki Yoshie, age: twenty— no… nineteen, occupation: e-gamer, ethnicity: Japanese and Australian. Notably skilled with technology and the digital world, but nothing about you is remotely intriguing or useful.” She scoffed and carelessly tossed the photograph on the floor.

“As of yet, this is the most dull team I’ve laid eyes upon. They are not interesting in the slightest! It almost makes me hesitant to use them…”
