Isn't a writer question but was curious; How does wenclair different from other ships you've enjoyed?

Is it solely due to having been a lifelong Wednesday Addams fan, or is it specifically the Netflix's Addams world that you find intriguing?

I ask mainly because I recall you once saying that your wenclair comics--specifically the Next Gen Au I believe--are written and made with a lot of intention in regards to dialog and the discussions had between characters.

Is this due to a greater insight into the characters or simply a mark of growth in writing comprehension?

I like to think I put as much thought in all ships I've been hyperfixated on tbh. Wenclair isn't even the one I've been obsessed with the longest. So far it's actually Trimberly, for which and I was hyperfixated with for like 3 years.

But yeah ok I get ur point lol The intensity this time feels different, I suppose.

I think it's a mix of both being a long time Wednesday Addams fan and how cute of a ship Wenclair is both in concept and the canon execution of their dynamics.

As some of you are aware, I've been a fan of The Addams for a while now. All incarnations of them are great in their own way, but one of the many reasons why the animated 2019 movie is my favorite is because it didn't give Wednesday a bland ass male love interest. I don't think the B/W series did it(because Wed was like six in that) but the 90's movies, musical, and netflix series for some reason found it necessary to give Wednesday male love interests so painfully boring and i hate it. This isn't even about making Wednesday attracted to boys. I personally headcanon her bi, as the ol' stereotype that all grumpy/angsty female characters must be lesbian isn't my cup of tea, and also because I like to think all Addamses just don't give a shit about gender when it comes to romance. I woulda been fine with her getting a boyfriend so long as they're not boring af and goddddd canon incarnations still haven't delivered. Joel was sweet but he was too much of a wimp, not even Gomez is that pathetic. Lucas' thing with Wednesday was just portrayed in such an icky way in the musical that I couldn't finish watching by the time their sexually charged duet came on, and don't even get me started on the boys Netflix gave her. I expected better of Gough and Millar...(unless the blandness was on purpose like it was with Lana Lang--)

Anyways, because of all said canon love interests, I've been desperate for Wednesday to have a love interest that is both not painfully het or boring for once. Crossover shipping with Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice the Musical was fun but was ultimately a very niche fandom. I could only draw and write for an audience of twenty or so people for so long. Parker from the animated movie would've been great, but the cop out with her mom dating Fester just made it too weird for me to be fully on board with the ship.

So when Enid Sinclair was introduced as a character I was absolutely ecstatic. On paper alone she already seemed great. She has a very distinct appearance (even if her "design" was inspired by Harlequin and it shows) that goes so well when she stands next to Wednesday, whether it's in the actual show, fan arts, or even in official merch. Her being Wednesday's complete opposite in so many ways makes her being paired with Wednesday so dang interesting too.

And I don't just mean aesthetic or personality wise. I'm talking about how one of Wednesday's struggle stems from having too much smothering love from her family as someone who gets overwhelmed too easily, and Enid's loneliness and insecurity coming from her own family's lack of love and attention where it matters most. Or how Wednesday's just girl who, deep inside worries about being an actual cruel monster like the very bigots she hates, while Enid is a supposed beast who resents herself for only being a scared little girl. Even the fact that Wednesday is an older sister to a soft-hearted younger brother while Enid is the youngest daughter to a bunch of rough-housing older brothers feels very on purpose.

Everything about Enid feels deliberate. Like she IS supposed to be paired with Wednesday, platonically or romantically. She's the best person to stand beside Wednesday as a character because they have enough differences and similarities to have interesting conflicts but also significant character growths sparked by each other. She's not bland or boring like the canon love interests because even without her attachment to Wednesday, Enid is still such a compelling character. The mere fact that she's as popular as she is despite an eight-episode series being her debut in a franchise that's been iconic to generations is already pretty amazing, and only a character as impressive deserves to smooch somebody as iconic as Wednesday Addams.

And their on screen chemistry is just *chef's kiss*

Alright. Here’s a giant IDW Silver analysis that has been quite a while in the making. Prepare yourself.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO I AM FINALLY GETTING TO THIS HUNK OF AN ANALYSIS AFTER PROBABLY A MONTH OR SO OF STALLING. For context, here’s the reblog where I mentioned I’d one day analyze Silver’s character in the IDW comics:

And now here is a disclaimer:

This is gonna be a huge, gigantic, mongo beast of an analysis! I don’t know how rushed the ending will be and I don’t know how many images will be included, because I took a lot, and I mean A LOT of screenshots! There is so much material to work with here, and I didn’t even include the annuals! So please, make yourself comfortable, grab a snack and some water, and enjoy the read! It’s most likely gonna be my longest one yet!

Oh and also there are gonna be some pretty big spoilers for the IDW Sonic comics so be sure to read it all before reading this. It’s all connected…

Now, without further ado, let’s get on with the show! Finally…!

Bruh. Before we even meet the guy, we can tell what kind of person Silver is. Before Sonic can land a hit on the robot, Silver cuts in, smashing the bot to pieces. And to me, the way he does it isn’t meant to be some basic way of taking out a badnik. When rereading the issue to get some good Silver material, I noticed how everything from the torso and onwards is smashed to pieces by Silver, whereas the rest of the robot is left just chilling on the ground. To me, this is Silver just neutralizing what is actually a threat, the blades, and taking notice of what is the threat and getting rid of it easily. First panel and we already see his perception skills in action!

We see more of it not too much later on in the issue when Sonic is pointing out what kind of powers were used to kill off the other badnik. Silver is leaning in closely, drinking in every words Sonic says, as if he’s learning some secret sensei technique or something! Silver is learning from Sonic about different wispon types and learning how to be more perceptive. Overall, Silver just likes to learn!

This part of his character makes a huge impact on himself as a whole! Silver is anything if not eager and naive, and that shows in a lot of what he does and the expressions he makes.

This is also where his admiration for Whisper comes into play. Silver adores Whisper at the start of his time in the comic, and aspires to be just like her as well as everyone else one day! She even saved his life! Why wouldn’t he wanna be like her?? All of this just shows how young and naive the white hedgehog is, and how much he truly doesn’t know. Silver doesn’t know how plants grow, he doesn’t know how people work, he doesn’t know anything! And this is where his obvious lack of social interaction comes in.

Silver spent a majority of his life without anyone to look up to. (Assuming the events of 06 did not take place and he really was on his own) He didn’t have any parents, no family, no friends, no home, nothing! The poor boy was completely on his own in a charred, desolate world full of nothing but despair. And throughout that time, he was almost helpless to stop it all. Silver knew there were still people out there in his time, knew there were people just trying to survive, and all he could do was take care of himself. He was starving, cold, and alone. No one came to save him because he could never save them.

This all grows inside Silver’s gut until it becomes just a big, ugly blob of loneliness. All his life, Silver desperately wanted, needed someone to be there for him, needed someone to hold him and tell him it’d all be okay. He needed a savior. So, to mask his insecurities, he finds saviors in Blaze, Sonic, and Whisper.

Yeah yeah, I know. Just shut up and we’ll get back to this in a moment.

All three of these characters saved Silver’s life at one point or another. Shadow did too technically, but we’re focusing on the IDW timeline here and Shadow hardly interacts with Silver in this comic so we won’t be talking much about him. ANYWHIZZLE, Silver holds these three in high regard, and looks up to them. He considers Blaze his first ever friend, (And as a Silvaze shipper I see them as an item) thinks of Sonic as a legendary hero, and sees Whisper as his Guardian Angel. All people whom he only knows due to his time traveling abilities. If he didn’t have the means to do time travel, he would never know these people and thus would never have any friends or family. He wouldn’t have any hope. And that’s why the connections Silver makes with others creates such a big part of his personality and it’s why he feels so “Off” in 06, because back in that nonexistent reality he only had Blaze. He had something, but it was hardly enough to keep him alive.

However, just like all of us, when you leave such insecurities to boil in your gut for such a long time, when you leave it to rot for so long, it eventually just kinda. Blows up on you. In your face. In front of everyone.

I don’t have many good examples without going into the next section so this is all you’ll get for now

Silver is a young, naive, complicated fool. He has so many things whirling around in his head all at once and it’s suffocating him. He doesn’t want to ruin anything for himself or for others, so he bottles everything up in hopes that it’ll all end up fine in the end. But when it does eventually explode on himself, he can’t help but make things worse for everyone else.

Take his short time with the Diamond Cutters, for example. He was dealing with a lot at the time, trying to juggle the stress of knowing his own time is safe while also wondering why he’s even back in the past. He doesn’t know what to do, and that all comes to a head when he suspects the worst about Duo. His suspicions are correct as we all know, but he doesn’t know that, and neither do the Diamond Cutters. He makes a mess of the Restoration HQ just to try and prove a point, which gets him booted from the team, and he can’t do anything afterwards except sulk in his garden.

In short, Silver tends to bottle up his emotions/problems until it all just explodes in his face and he then shuts down from all the intense feelings. He ends up confused, numb, and desperately needs guidance.

Now let’s move onto his power set, and OH BOY does this boy love to show off!

Silver is incredibly prideful in what he can do, and it most definitely shows when others praise him for it. However, there are some limits, and those limits are big!

Silver can only move things with his mind. It’s telekinesis, not pyrokinesis.

He needs to focus to be able to use his power.

He also has anxiety

Welp. As you can see those are all some very big limitations.

When you have powers that can only function when you are focused and know what you’re doing, and when they also only work when you can see what you’re focusing on, well… It doesn’t really help you very much when you’re best friend and idol is a super speedy hedgehog that can go at Mach 7 if he feels like it. Silver’s insecurities combined with his anxiety and auDHD AND his survival instincts… They don’t mix too well. Don’t get it twisted though, he is still a master and psychokinesis and he uses his power shockingly well considering those circumstances. He can do so much cool shit with just his brain alone and it is insane! However, he can’t just do anything with it.

Just like what he says here! Haha~!

It also provides an explanation for this.

Silver just wasn’t focused during this time and was probably holding his own against a pretty big army of badnik already, so he wasn’t prepared for this funky little guy. Simple.

Now, back to his insecurities because YES THERE’S MORE. OF COURSE THERE’S MORE. THIS BOYO LIVED THROUGH AN APOCALYPSE FOR LIKE 13-14 YEARS OF HIS LIFE. OF COURSE THERE’S GONNA BE MORE.

Considering all these limitations and how quickly and easily Silver can lose focus, and also considering how young and naive he is, it’s safe to say Silver just can’t compare to all the others in the past.

Silver is always constantly comparing himself to them, always pushing himself to do better, digging himself into a rut deeper than the abyss. He looks up to all these people like they are more powerful than him, like they matter more than him, and that leads to him getting hurt more often than not.

LIKE. JUST. I KNOW THEY WERE LOW ON STAFF BUT JUST READ THAT AND TELL ME THAT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A CASE OF IMPOSTER SYNDROME. LOOK AT ME DEAD IN THE EYES AND TELL ME THAT. POOR SILVER.

This all comes to a head though in the battle between Silver and… Uh… Whatever the depressed guy is called, the depresso Zeti guy.

In this fight, Silver is going up against someone who can only see the bad in people, who can only see a world of bleakness and despair. Depresso hates anything that is joyful, despises anything good in life, and only wants to see people be as sad as him. He’s a petty, pathetic loser.

But at one point, Silver was just like him.

Look at this and tell me this doesn’t give off the same vibes as the fight scene lol

But yeah! Silver was once as hopeless and depressed as Depresso over there! He had no hope for the future, had no way of knowing if anything was gonna be alright, had no one to look up to… Safe to say he was most likely worse than Depresso! But due to his age and the knowledge that there were still people out there, still families wandering in groups hoping for daybreak, he held onto what little hope he had left. He probably ended up saving a few people and they thanked him, and that probably gave him the push he needed to keep dreaming. Just as his own song Dreams of an Absolution suggests!

“Struggle, wriggle, writhe and cry! You can’t escape, you’ll soon be mine.”

That sounds like a certain someone’s depression talking~! And when Silver first attacks Depresso and says “I can be direct! Cover me!” That is Silver’s way of saying “I can’t do much against my own emotions without being upfront and blunt about it, but I also accept your help in fending them off. Will you help me if I accept such help??”

And when Depresso asks, “How can you be so disgustingly heroic and selfless??” Well, Silver responds with this:

“Because I have faith in others. I believe things will get better… And because I have a Guardian Angel watching over me!”

Silver got better, managed to fend off those dark thoughts that plague Depresso, because he is able to look up to people. He is so young and eager to learn that he doesn’t see anything bad in having faith in others and asking for help. He’s prideful in what he can do, but unlike Sonic and Shadow, his pride and insecurity doesn’t overshadow his willingness to learn and get help from others.

Why? Well, because we’re literally on the very cusp of the ending for this thing (Finally) and I can’t just end this giant analysis off without adding any funny Silver pics! If you could either be in the DC universe or the Percy Jackson universe, which would you chose and why? If Percy Jackson, who is your godly parent? Or if DC, what are your powers and who is your mentor?

I'd personally chose Percy Jackson because hyper fixations galore! I'm also a child of Hermes, so, YES!

Kat why would ask me to choose between these two😭

But seriously: I think I’d also choose Percy Jackson—yes, there’s a lot of death and violence but in either universe, I would have to fight someone so I don’t think it’s fair to compare them tbh :3

I chose PJO because at the end of the day, it would be so cool to live in a world where gods and myths were real. Of course, ignoring all the child murder and general angst

I’m taking a women and gender studies class rn in college and currently the unit is talking about the Sumerian and Egyptian goddesses Inanna and Isis (currently writing a comparative essay on them). I cannot express how amazed I am looking at the different ways people try to explain how the world works and celebrating life and death,, It’s just super cool!!

(Side note: I don’t know if anyone’s read The Wicked + The Divine but I can’t stop thinking about that when I hear about Inanna, that comic series has ruined my life)

Anyway, as for godly parent, it’s probably Hades, not just because I like myths about the Underworld (though that’s a big part of it) but also because from the official website quiz, I am in Cabin 13☺️

(Also Hazel and Nico has siblings, who wouldn’t want that??)

What's your favorite fanfiction you are currently writing?

Mine is Quest Parenthood: Challenge Accepted or Fall From Grace. Both are PJO AUs I am hoping to post over on Wattpad and AO3 soon. Do you want a dedication?

Right now, I think it’d be my Shadowhunters fic “The Moon” which I actually getting a chapter tomorrow for the first time in a month :’)

I watched the show over my senior spring break and I think it came at a perfect time because I was having anxieties about leaving high school and moving onto college so the show has become very special to me (currently reading the book series now) so I really like going back through the episodes (after I binged it in three days😭) and writing them out with some OCs :)

Anyway, enough of me rambling on. Yes! I’d love a dedication ^^

My #1 post of 2022

One of my mini peeves is when people put Azula under ‘chaotic evil’. Like Azula is not chaotic evil at all. Azula is the kind of person who hates chaos, favoring order instead. She’s definitely a lawful something. I feel like she thinks that she’s lawful good in her mind. But I feel like shed either be lawful good or lawful neutral. I heavily lean twoards lawful neutural though based on this description; “ Lawful neutral beings believe in a strong, well-ordered government, whether that government is a tyranny or benevolent democracy.  The benefits of organization and regimentation outweigh any moral questions raised by their actions.  Lawful neutral beings will uphold the law regardless of whether it is considered just or not.  If the majority of the population disagrees with the practices of the government, then they must use legal means of getting those laws changed.  Rebellion is a crime regardless of the purpose behind revolt.  In their day-to-day affairs, lawful neutrals will adhere to the laws of the area they are in, and will also maintain their own sense of honor.”

That is spot on Azula.

Tbh it feels like people who put her on chaotic evil just look at season finale Azula and go. It especially  drives me nuts when Zhao is listed as ‘lawful or neutral evil’.Zhao is more chaotic imo.

The American artist Patrick O'Brien—not to be confused with the deceased British novelist Patrick O'Brian, who was also pretty obsessed with the War of 1812—has made a new painting based on a classic watercolour at the NMM, depicting HMS Pylades chasing an American privateer.

AHHHHHHH this is unrelated to uno but my friend and I dared eachother to read something thatd make us cry, and I made her read the boxer and I'm on the floor sobbing over gourmet hound 😭😭 neither of us have done any work for like two days we're just binge reading

Like actually I should've taken a break while reading it but I just read it continuously over thee days straight and was mentally and emotionally exhausted for a week after lol. I always stop rereading when the joker arc starts up bc I honestly can't handle it 😅

ik people call uno cheesy and it is, but what I felt while reading it was so intense. Ive felt that way over a precious few pieces of media. And it's so strange. I can't find a pattern at all. It isn't very well written, and the storyline is vaugely problematic, and tbh I've seen better world building, but I still love it. Same for other media I've loved, I can admit that I've read better, but I still, for some reason, resonated with these totally random (?) ones the most

If anyone's slightly curious the other works I've loved as much as uno (I call these things soul art make fun of me) are eleceed by jeho son and ZHENA (available on webtoon), the poppy war by R F kuang, his dark materials by Philip Pullman, and the Percy Jackson series and the heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan (pls don't pick on me lol). Ofc there's been stuff that's sent me into various states of existencial crisis but the characters from these works have literally always stayed with me

I also gotta say that UnO has been one of my longest lasting passions (idk if that’s the right word lmao). I first started reading it around the time John’s ability was first revealed (i gotta admit, that was the only time of my reading uno that I’ve come close to being a jimp lmao) then I put it down for about a year and I came back and that kept happening to this point. Like most stuff that I completely put down I don’t pick up again. I could probably count on one hand the content that I’ve put down and picked up with the same passion.

I love UnO so much. Like I think that’s part of the reason I have so many criticisms about it just bc it has so much potential bc it’s already amazing with all of its flaws. I don’t think I’ve consumed a piece of media that I’d consider ‘flawless’, but UnO is sooooo close to being perfect in my opinion. The criticisms I do have are things that would be so easily fixed.

Jungkook was young. That was pretty much all there was to it, in his opinion. He was young, dumb, and had a massive fucking crush. That’s the only reason he’s in jail right now and it was absolutely ridiculous. Now, of course he had crushes before. Girlfriends, too, but once he got to college and met you, everything he thought he knew about love turned out to be a lie. It started out when you walked into the study hall he was in, wearing his favorite outfit on you- a soft, pink, fuzzy sweater that had little cats on it with some tight leggings. Adorning your feet were cute little boots with heels that hardly gave you any height compared to him. You flipped your hair so sweetly over your shoulders that it couldn’t help enrapturing him, and when you passed his desk, God, the scent of your perfume could've had the strongest of men melting at your feet.

Love at first sight, of course. How could it be anything else? A select few would call you… out of his league, or, let’s say, too good for him. Too popular, too gorgeous, too smart. All of it was relative, though, because he just knew you loved him as much as he did you. It was a fiery, burning, passionate kind of love that you only read in the most romantic books and the best produced movies. You were his one true love. Sure, at first you didn’t feel the same, and, sure, your friends didn’t like him, but those things didn’t matter. His previous relationships were boring, same with the girls. They were all edgy and smoked too many cigarettes, choosing to ask him out because he was quiet, not because he was the type of guy that everyone wanted. He didn’t have any friends but himself and the four walls of his room and he was fine with that.

Until he saw you and all of yours. A dozen of them, at least, said hi to you on your way to the table of even more people, even more of them greeting you with bright smiles and eager hugs. And that would’ve been fine, too, if it wasn’t for the fact that most of them were boys, attractive boys who he was already so fucking envious of. Come on, who even has that many male friends, anyway? He sure didn’t, and he wasn’t even sexually attracted to them. Ridiculous. It was like you were screaming for his help from the very first second he knew you until the last.

You were a good girl, though, you’d never even been kissed before, you later told him. God, it made him ache to think about getting his hands on your soft, untouched skin, marking it up and claiming you as his, showing you off to all of your friends and letting them all know that you’re his and his alone. It still does, it’s almost all that gets him through nights, weeks, hell, months of solitary confinement. And could anyone really blame him? The way your sweet, soft eyes peered into his own the first time you actually spoke to him made him realize how precious and sweet you really were. You needed someone to protect you and guide you, someone who could show you everything he knew you were missing out on. Something that those… boys couldn’t give to you. He was young, yes, but he was more of a man than any of those other seniors were, more than they could’ve ever wished to be and he was determined to prove it to you.

It was the same day he met you, actually, that you first spoke to him. He was in an advanced forensics course that you just so happened to be in, too. The reason he was in that class, you later ask? His parents were murdered when he was young. Countless foster homes, failed adoptions, the works. Observing what led him to where he was at the time was something that was incredibly interesting to him. It’s not like he wanted to be a detective or anything, God, no, not at all. He was just interested in the patterns, the flaws, the mistakes, how… outright bad people were at covering up their tracks. Just interested.

“Do you want to be partners?” you’d asked, smiling with that little quirk in your lip, the way that allowed one of your eyes to squint up happily, more than the other. His heart fucking stopped, it was like the Earth stopped turning and it was only the two of you in the room. You wanted to work with him? On one of the biggest, longest assignments you’d be doing in the entire year? Fate. Unexplainably, 100%, pure fate. He said yes, why wouldn’t he have? How could he have denied you? The only way to get him to do something like that was if a gun was being held to his head. Even then, he would’ve fought his way into it, because this was already the first step in your relationship and he didn’t even have to try! He could practically taste the first date, the first kiss, your first time, it was all right there in that moment. You weren’t just partners on that case. You were partners in life.

Despite that, though, you turned out to be the downfall of your own love story. Who would’ve thought, right? You were the one to initiate it, and, he supposes, all good things do come to an end. Turns out, you were amazing at forensic analysis. Why wouldn’t you be? Everything about you added up to be perfect for him, of course you’d have the same passion. When you began working on the case, it was one that intrigued the both of you, about some love story where the girl’s father disapproved of their relationship because the boyfriend was… weird, of all things. You were interested because you related- your father was the reason you were a virginal, sweet little fawn in a world of wolves, ready to devour you. Jungkook was interested in the case because it was one of the first he’d heard of when he began doing his own investigations. He also thought it was complete bullshit that nobody had solved it and they had to resort to college students to help them. To him, it was obvious that the girl's boyfriend and her father were in some kind of battle and ended up killing each other, the autopsies showed just that. The girl, though, refused to say anything, poor thing, too shaken up over the fact that she’d lost the two most important men in her life. Jungkook thinks about that a lot, too.

The beginning of your relationship was filled with theories and passionate study sessions where the two of you bonded over superheroes and his worn Iron Man t-shirt, the reason you’d asked him to be your partner in the first place, actually. The first time you came into his room, he made sure to dust off the posters that had been hanging in his room for years, taking extra care in putting his vintage comics on his desk, right next to his dresser. Not only was it the first time you came into his room, it was the first time you came, too. Only a month into knowing each other and you’d let him take something sacred to you, not quite your virginity, but to him, it was all the same.

You were so needy, begging him to stop teasing you and let you receive the relief you’d been wanting for so long. He couldn’t get over it. You were the first person he actually had faith in to bring him happiness and love. He refused to believe you would use him, even if it was just easier to blame it on your love than it was to blame it on your lies. You lied to him, led him on and let him believe that you actually cared about him with your tiny skirts and, goddamnit, your stupid, needy eyes. He cared about you, though, and he knew, deep in his heart, that Seokjin and your oppressive family were at fault. When they told you that you couldn’t do something, you felt you needed to rebel, why wouldn’t you? And when Seokjin asked you out, what were you going to do, say no? He was an idiot but he was probably a good head or two taller than you with broad shoulders that were even a little intimidating to Jungkook. Thinking about how the older man probably cornered you and coerced you into dating him made him so fucking livid that there was no way he could sit there and live with himself without doing something.

He got what he deserved and so did your family, in his opinion. You were safe from oppression, from pain, neglect, everything that was wrong in your life! He might’ve snapped the night you got back from your trip, but he was so sick of things not going his way. Either way, he wanted you to be happy. Wants you to be happy. He just forgot how damn good you were at forensics. And, sure, maybe sometimes he still feels upset over the fact that he was trying to protect you and you returned the favor by throwing him into a steely cell where all he could do was think of your face. Think of how judgemental you were when you saw him in your room when you got back from the Bahamas.

He felt like sometimes you both deserved to be in solitary confinement. He’s never truly forgiven your infidelities and he was in no way… okay with them. No, quite the opposite. You were his and he didn’t fucking care if you thought you could get away with it, it was fate! Maybe you weren’t as innocent as he thought you were. If he really thinks about it, you weren’t as tight as he expected a virgin to be, you had countless pairs of lingerie, and all of those friends who were boys… Seokjin… Maybe you both deserved to be in this room, right now. Honestly, the archetype he comes from of "loud comic relief that annoys quiet, straight-laced counterpart" can be very hard for me to enjoy, especially with the realistic nature of the student council, I've had my own harrowing experiences trying to wrangle together highschoolers into accomplishing something, and so a lot of his early behavior was too familiar for me to enjoy

That said, as he opened up about himself I did enjoy him much more, he pushes Yuki in good ways and can be a bit of a grounding force, and can bring out his teasing side (love that when yuki is putting Tohru in the mom-zone he argues back that mommy kinks are a thing) Also his relationship with Machi is very sweet, I love his little shows of protectiveness

I've been curious about her for the longest time, there's a lot of weight put into the way she occupies Yuki's attention, especially that imagery of her breaking down the door when Yuki got trapped in the closet, as we've gotten to know her, I again like her relationship with Kakeru and her flustered nature is very cute, I enjoyed her focus episode we got in s3, it was a really good example of Yuki's personal growth from his relationship with Tohru letting him be there for others, I feel though as if we are only know getting to know her, and I hope her arc isn't finished

lmao not in the question itself, but looking at the fandom, I thought this might be a good time to get some of my feelings on the two most popular Yuki ships out

I know I am in the minority for believing Yuki's feelings for Tohru were romantic (like you don't blush so hard you transform when your mom calls you by your first name) But I think regardless of one's interpretation, it is obvious Yuki wants an equal relationship and considering the way he's been caught up in his own baggage, he's never been able to help Tohru in return like Kyo has

Going back to that image of Machi breaking down the door, it is hella powerful and spot on visual language, suggesting a way Machi can reach Yuki in a way Tohru couldn't and with the talks and chalk scene (which had me gasp from how smooth it was) Yuki definitely seems to be in a place where he can be a good partner

My one concern is that we haven't really seen concretely what Machi "does" for Yuki, I don't want to be cruel and act like support between two people always has to be completely balanced, and I am a general fan of the ship dynamic "character A helps out character B with trauma" but after getting the emphasis with Yuki/Tohru and all that build-up with Machi in general, I would like to see the dynamic fleshed out/strengthened a bit more

Which when we look at who has gotten Yuki to "open the lid" Kakeru definitely fits that role, not to mention Takaya likes to pair up a couple and develop them side by side, my biggest problem with them though comes down more to taste, for one, the ship dynamic of "A lovingly annoys B" is one I tend to hate lmao and tbh I just have trouble seeing Yuki attracted to men

Even taking off my shipping googles, Yuki just never seems comfortable with queerness as a concept, like he's very defensive over how the student body will feminize him and has a lot of screen time with canonically queer characters like Ayame and Hatsuharu, and while when it comes to their sexuality, he has outright disdain for the former and confused patience for the latter, it gives very big "straight guy who has had a decent level of exposure to queerness but still doesn't really Get It"

Now ppl say his mom thing with Tohru sounds similar to comphet, and I can definitely see some versions of that, but for all Takaya likes to play with queerness, her writing is still very cishet, she just doesn't have the skills to articulate all the subtleties I'd want from a narrative like that, in the hands of a more talent writer, I think it could be great, but as of canon, there just isn't enough foundation to make me interested in exploring that interpretions

That said I totally get why people would like either of them with Yuki, so most of this is just me splitting the hairs about my personal taste lmao

hey hey hey i made a mpdsap iceberg a little while back and i thought it would be fun to yell into the void about it, because why not. i havent explained the lore to my followers yet and ill probably reblog this to my main tbh

[little disclaimer that a lot of these are based off of made up lore and ocs on my main account. if youre strictly canon only then i wouldnt recommend this for you. if you’re interested but have no knowledge about said lore, i will give basic explanations]

LAYER 1

Joey Perleoni: joey perleoni is well known as the poster of the anti-piracy videos, who, recently, has involved himself more in the videos. joey in my lore is depicted as mostly emotionless or “empty” with no remorse for his actions.

Mario Party DS Anti-Piracy OST: on the channel, there is pretty convincing fake music for the series, there’s not much else to say about it other than it’s SUPER bangin’

Joey was arrested: in a video titled ‘the police are at my house’, joey is taken in by the police. he is presumably in prison

Luigi is the victim: in all of the videos posted, luigi is the main character, and is often considered the victim of the horrible events happening.

Hex code translations: in the videos, there are several hex codes, which can be translated to several different things. the ones we’ve found are hellsatan, luigimod, thx4luv, watchdemon.jit etc.

Reggie Fils-Amie video: on joey’s channel, his first upload has nothing to do with mpdsap, but rather it’s a video filming a joke reggie made about mother 3. it’s unknown if this is connected or not.

LAYER 2

Luxury station and Quiznos: luxury station is joey’s second account, revolving a few strange videos about a place named quiznos. it’s unknown if this is connected or not

Hudson (the man): in my lore, there is a character named hudson, who inherited the company. he’s considered the person who made the anti-piracy screens, or at least encouraged it strongly. this character is based off of some text in host hoedown, which translates to “hudson - this is not necessary. it will extend the launch considerably.” (also i know hudson is the name of the company but the time i found out it was too late)

“Joey no longer runs the account” theory: there was a theory going around after joey’s arrest that someone else is running the account, since there should be no way he should keep posting. this is probably deconfirmed by now

Joey doesn’t feel much emotion: as stated before, my depiction of joey is that of “mostly emotionless or completely empty”. there is no reason for this currently (it’s kind of a case study at this point tbfh)

DJ Hallyboo is based on MC Ballyhoo: in mario party 8 for the wii, there is a character that bears extreme resemblance to DJ Hallyboo, named MC Ballyhoo. they have the same voice clips used, similar names, and somewhat similar designs. MC Ballyhoo is the host of mario party 8. it is general considered that DJ Hallyboo is a beta version of MC Ballyhoo by fans.

LAYER 3

Electric chair: in the video simply titled “mario party ds anti piracy |”, where joey sits on a chair and boots up mario party ds, a few comments were floating around joking about him getting the electric chair. this hasn’t been confirmed

Hudson and Joey used to be friends: this is mostly outdated now, but there was a joke timeline where hudson and joey were friends in the past. not gonna cover it any further than that because it’s an old concept now

MC Ballyhoo and DJ Hallyboo are the same person: in my lore, the general consensus is that MC Ballyhoo and DJ Hallyboo are the same person, with split personalities. he is also either sentient or extremely aware.

Joey is god: in my lore, there is a mostly bizzare idea that joey is divine and has always been divine. he became “a god” by doing criminal acts, or sacrificing luigi. i can’t tell you if this is canon to my lore or not yet though - it started as a meme, but i really do like the idea somehow.

“Waiter, your finger’s in the soup!”: a mysterious quote with no real meaning that was quoted by joey a couple of times. it is connected to a short comic. nobody has found out what it means yet or why it’s being posted about.

LAYER 4

“Joey does drugs” joke: (TW // DRUG ABUSE)

this joke spawned from something i learned in school. apparently people who abuse illegal drugs gradually start feeling less dopamine doing normal activities over time, due to drug overstimulation. this was jokingly connected to joey’s chronic emptiness and inability to feel anything, with the joke that he does meth or some other illegal drug. it’s also noted that drug abusers are likely to commit other crimes. this is of course, not serious at all.

Joey stole MPDS from mcdonalds: this is a personal theory of mine. mcdonalds and MPDS have absolutely no connection - so why are they attempted to be connected at all? in the video, it describes a demo being sold in happy meals at mcdonalds - it’s a possibility that joey stole the demo from mcdonalds, and doesn’t actually have the full game.

Joey wearing the same clothes as the character: i have drawn joey with a yellow sweater (with orange sleeves) and grey shorts for a while now. in the mcdonalds video, he was wearing nearly the same outfit (with the exception of the shorts being pants). he also has brown hair, which i predicted, but it’s much darker. this is probably a coincidence but it’s pretty freaky honestly.

Techwalker: this will probably be the longest segment in the iceberg and the most lore heavy. techwalker was joey’s old channel. he made extremely different content - mainly of which was just bothering random people on the street and at conventions. he has described himself as a “journalist”, but this is all basically fun and games. these videos are now unlisted and i will not be linking them nor telling you where to find them for privacy reasons. i don’t want to get in trouble. if i find any of yall spreading it around im taking down the post and will probably not talk about this again, you dont want that, i dont want that, nobody wants that really.

in the lore, techwalker is not joey. they are 2 seperate people - but they live in the same body. what this means is that either one can take control at a time - joey is completely numb to everything around him, but tech is a pretty happy go lucky and social person. they have different personalities, morals, names and lead different lives. tech even wears glasses (assuming he has some kind of impaired eyesight), and joey does not.

(this has been confused with dissociative identity disorder. while i don’t mind people interpreting my content in whatever way they’d like, considering this is just fan-lore, this was not the intent. i do not have DID and i don’t want to speak for anyone who has DID.)

the general consensus is that tech is dead, or at least completely drowned out, and joey has taken complete control. joey and tech were practically mortal enemies and polar opposites of each other. (joey constantly being annoyed or uninterested in tech’s hyperactivity, and tech not trusting joey to be responsible or ‘law abiding’)

What was the longest time you’ve had the hiccups for?  Maybe for half an hour? Mine are never that bad.

What type of TV shows are your favourite?  Not a big TV show type of person to begin with since it seems as if my attention span wasn’t built for once-a-week, season-breaks kind of content haha. I do like sitcoms, I guess...bite-sized ones like Friends, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Big Bang Theory, etc. Drama shows I’d bite into if the plot is extremely intriguing to me or relevant to my interests, like The Crown or Breaking Bad.

Have you ever been a complete fangirl/fanboy over anything?  I was before then I wasn’t for a very long time, then I came back just recently with this BTS shit I got myself into.

Do you force your way into conversations in which you are not involved?  Not always but if I’m starting to feel left out or awkward, I will start to ask a question here and there to ease my way into the conversation. But if the topic is clearly none of my business then I do stay out of the way.

Do you believe you can change someone?  This isn’t a black and white matter, I think. The idea of changing a person can have a lot of layers; in my org, for instance, I got to pick up a few quirks and behaviors from my friends just by being around them for a long time – in that sense, I changed. But you can also strive to change someone who’s struggling and try to make them become happy, which I tried to do with my ex – which of course I learned the hard way that you can’t change someone if in that context.

How did you react when your first pet died?  I was bummed out but didn’t throw a fit.

I decided to do all the questions on this meme :)

1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

My current project is Concubinage, my gaiwin arranged marriage AU. It started as a random, entirely self-indulgent idea, but it has since grown into an actual project. Progress is good, I’ve managed to do bi-monthly updates and I have 30k in my drafts so far.

What I love the most about it is that, since it’s an AU, I’m pretty free to do whatever I want. I don’t have to be too careful of timelines and so on. Plus, in this AU, Gaius and Wingul are able to get closer than they otherwise would, due to the different circumstances. They have their own trials, but it’s different than in the canon timeline.

Another current project is Tales of Xillia Week, but I didn’t get much inspiration for it so I think I’m gonna do meta/headcanon posts more than fics ^^;

2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

I’m looking forward to getting to the part where it’s just domestic fluff haha. It’ll take a while to reach that point though.

3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)

Not just one scene ig, but I’ve been wanting to write one-shots showing how the Chimeriad survived, and... haven’t gotten around to planning it. So it’s pretty low on my project list tbh.

I have... a few, but they’re all spoilers for future chapters XD;;

5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?

I don’t... really identify with characters. I mean, they’re pretty different than me in personality, life and circumstances...

6. What character do you have the most fun writing?

I love writing Gaius and Wingul of course, but Agria’s probably the most fun. She’s completely unrestrained, which makes her pretty easy and fun to let loose XD

7. What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?

8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?

Yes. I would love it if more people wrote gaiwin XD

9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?

I used to be more of a ficlet writer, but I’m currently doing well with a longfic XD

As for the rest, it varies. I like to plot and outline a bit, but it’s often rather loose and I let inspiration guide me.

10. How would you describe your writing process?

Wait for inspiration time, energy and motivation to align.

11. What do you envy in other writers?

Those who update super long fics every week. How do you do it????

12. Do you want your writing to be famous?

Naah, I’m fine in my corner of fandom. Though I wouldn’t say no to a few more readers, if only to know that the ship still sails xD

Yep, I post on AO3. And all projects are meant to be posted one day, but some aren’t simply because they aren’t finished.

14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?

The beginning, usually, but I might change it

15. Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?

Tags are easy. Titles and summaries are hard, and I always end up with something boring but heh, as long as they get the meaning across...

16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)

It was last year, but I tried first person pov with my Agria fic, because that fits her well. I’d like to try poetry, maybe.

17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?

I have no idea tbh. When I write, I like to imagine what my readers will think (especially like when I write funny scenes, I hope they’ll make people laugh), but idk if it’s exactly like I think.

18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.

In Concubinage, I considered adding a plotline where Arst met an ex and had to deal with complicated feelings about it -- being reminded how it was to be in a loving relationship vs political marriage, craving intimacy like he used to have with said ex, etc. I ended up scrapping the idea though.

I also have... two or three possible ways things can play out in a much later plotpoint, and I think I’m pretty sure of which way I’ll go already, but the other possibilities exist. Maybe I’ll make a post about all abandoned plotlines one day...

19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

“And, but, and, but...” XD;

Also characters often find themselves doing something before they knew it...

My style is probably pretty repetitive. I’m not a native speaker, and I feel limited sometimes...

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Concubinage is the result of watching too many sageuk and  taiga drama. No I’m not sorry.

When writing AU, I always like to include “cameo” of the original storyline (for example, as the plot of a book, or treating the canon games as a fractured dimension in Chimeriad Live AU’s, etc)

In Fractured Lives, I try to alternate Wingul and Gaius’ pov. It’s probably gonna bite me in the ass when some plot points work better in one pov but the chapter requires the other. I’ll probably have to come up with some fillers or something...

I have extensive headcanon about Auj Oule’s geography, history etc, which pops up in a lot of (planned) fics. Even if it’s different fics/AU’s (ex. Concubinage vs my pre-game gaiwin project vs the Wingul fic I was writing for the big bang), I reuse the same settings and OC’s. Most of those aren’t written/posted yet so it’s pretty self-contained for now, but if I ever get to completing those projects I hope it won’t be too confusing to readers who don’t follow all the stories...

21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)

If I had the art skills, I’d love to turn some of them into comics ;A;

22. Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?

Sometimes. Usually because I need to refresh my memory before writing a new chapter XD

23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?

That project to write the whole pre-game Gaius & Wingul history, that’s something I’ve been wanting since forever. Well, I originally wanted to read it, but since no one’s gonna do it, I started thinking I should write it. It’s gonna be a huge project though...

24. Would you say your writing has changed over time?

I honestly have no idea. I do sense a difference in that it’s much easier for me to just write now; I guess habit helps. But I have no idea if style changed or anything lol.

25. What part of writing is the most fun?

24. What is your dream job?

          FOR THE longest time I wanted to be a comic artist, or some sort of graphic novel. As of right now, I don’t really have a DREAM job that’s actually obtainable. Maybe VStreaming/Vtubing? The idea of performing in character to an active audience doing something low energy and chill is tempting. But it’s not really a viable job. 

27. Is there anything you have done recently that you want to brag about?

          IT’S NOT exactly recent but I managed to max on Runescape and get 3 120′s in a little less than half a year of half-assing it. I didn’t think I’d ever do it tbh. 

38. Any characters that you hate to love?

          THERE’S A whole BUNCH, honestly. I’ll just mention 2 or else it’ll turn into a huge essay. Zemouregal for very obvious reasons, he’s disgusting but I love how incompetent he is. I’d love to see him completely get whats coming to him. He’s just... so awful? I shouldn’t find him enjoyable. I love egotistical idiots, and most of the characters that I hate that I love fall into this category, especially if they shows signs of being hams. Incompetent villains get really annoying after a while but as much as they annoy me they hold a very crusty part of my heart. Never change, Zemo.  

     ALSO Megatron of a certain dinosaur variety. Arguably one of the worst iterations of Megatron but he’s so awful and I hate that when someone namedrops him this version is the first one that comes to mind. Egotistical moron who’s basically a Bond villain in a barney costume. 

50. Coffee, tea, or soda?

          I’M PRETTY sure my blood at this point is 99% soda. I do like tea but I don’t have the energy to actually get up and put effort into making a pot.
