Gonna be real. I know I’m super biased in saying this but I genuinely think it’s more conducive to the story’s message and themes if Thistle is still alive after the end of the manga. Like.

There’s all these examples of characters talking about how love and support from those who matter most to you is what can allow you to heal despite experiencing immense trauma. Themes of life and death and rebirth in both a physical and metaphysical sense. I just think it’s so much more satisfying for Thistle to get that, too, more so than the tragedy of him dying. You could say that him not getting that chance is just how things go sometimes, but in a series all about defying fate and walking the more difficult but fulfilling path (after all, recovery and facing the reality of it all certainly wouldn’t be easy) I would argue that him living serves the narrative much better.

i will be totally honest with y’all i can’t see Hobie (ATSV) in a romantic relationship ever. like, i can’t see him seeing anybody ever as “the one” or even having multiple partners or anything. I can barely see him having friends outside of the ones he already has. I can somewhat see the “are we dating or are we not dating” thing being something he gets involved in, but not really. i think a lot of people either don’t know or just forget that he’s probably homeless and that his world is shit rn and that stuff he needs isn’t easy to come by 😭😭 and a lot of homeless people just don’t have time/energy for shit like romantic relationships and the stuff he’s doing canonically because they’re so focused on trying to survive. That’s why when I make posts about him casually flirting or whatever it’s never serious, it never goes anywhere, because honestly! Between music shows, trying to find your next meal, fighting the power, trying to find a shelter for the night, helping other homeless people and others in need as both a civilian and Spider-Man, dealing with dimensional threats, trying to find a place to get clean, i just don’t think Hobie has time to even consider it. Sure, maybe there are facilities in the HQ to make it easier, but after that stunt, i think he’d avoid using them as much as possible. do you see what i mean??

people have got to stop comparing everything to the obelisk flair situation bc there has really not actually been anything like it since and probably (hopefully) never will; the obelisk flair thing was the catalyst for staff at least consistently maintaining known gene error threads, because obelisk flair having apparently been a “bug” was something *never publicly stated at all* until the “fix” came out (and in fact obelisks were used in the promotional/announcement images for flaunt/flair…) and that was a big reason for the backlash. that’s why it was the one time they decided to go back on a supposed bug fix (after polling the userbase about it)—people were upset not just by the change to their dragons, but by the fact that no one had any possible idea the change could be coming. gene error threads were not the quickly organized lists they are now, this was not a remotely known error anyone was prepared to see fixed.

it was because of this situation that they started maintaining these threads! you can, in fact, check the threads and know which genes are going to get changed at some point, and if you get upset that your dragon got changed because an error got fixed… you should have checked the error thread first, buddy, sorry.

but then on the other hand: no one should HAVE to check the error threads first all the time—you SHOULD do it but that sucks and i’m sorry that you have to. it is completely and utterly abysmal that ancients keep getting so rushed and pumped out way too fast with a mile long list of errors that don’t even all get fixed before the next broken thing gets dumped out to add onto the horrendous pile of bugs. i say this not even out of my spiteful little ancient hater brain but out of solidarity with & support for my fellow FR users despite our vastly differing tastes: ancients are coming out way too quickly and the 2-3 per year pace is unhealthy and causing way too many problems.

I’m rereading mob psycho cause I need some motivation in my life and the parallels between dimple and Reigen are just like ough to go through again.

#it’s kinda insane #ok not super insane but it just hits you in the face #Reigen talking about how LOL wasn’t helping anyone just making people dependent on dimple so mob did a good job #dimple talking about how he wants to understand mob better than anyone else because then mob will depend on him #and dimple gets access to that power #it’s 1. a glimpse into if Reigen had been worse and 2. shows why the story needs to happen #Reigen is dependent on mob for business sure but ultimately he can pick himself a life apart from mob #separation arc showed that because he was the one who chose to apologize and chose to do community service and he decided himself to just #step the fuck up #if Reigen were cut off from early in the manga he’d probably be the same too. #but like. dimples thing about dependence is not wrong #mob is very much dependent on Reigen for making sense of these emotions. which to a degree makes absolute sense #outside of his powers being a thing he’s a kid. kids are figuring everything out for the first time #but it doesn’t change the fact that mob was dependent on Reigen for this kind of. emotional need? is that the word? #Reigen is someone he trusts to know things and so it’s imperative that trust isn’t really broken #because then mobs foundation will shatter #it’s also a hint of a possible future when Reigen describes group psychology stuff in regards to LOL #they’re all smiling and laughing in the cult but outside the meetings they get more and more anxious and that’s why they return #that’s why they probably search for a god other than lord dimple when they’ve been ‘freed’ #freed in the sense that the effect of cult psychology is still there but dimple is gone #in another world if Reigen failed mob would have found another mentor #also who’s to know what would’ve happened if the dependence did not occur and mob didn’t block his powers. #anyways that’s why I’m very much for the ending of mob getting his own life even tho Reigen isn’t super prominent in it anymore
