It makes more sense that there's only one dose buried with Silas than what they were assuming because at the time of its creation Silas and Amara were the only 2 immortals and Qetsiyah had no intention for Amara to be cured as she was the anchor to the other side and it would undermine her revenge. There was no way to know that there'd ever be more immortals than just Silas that would need the cure so obviously only one dose exists

Petrova Doppelgängers and Femininity
I'm not sure if the show runners and the writers intended to do this, but the Petrova doppelgängers are deeply entrenched in femininity. The one thing that all doppelgängers have in common is that they are always the sufferers. That they are powerful but only because they can be used. And that is exactly how the world has used women for centuries.
Amara’s cast in stone for two thousand years, being the anchor to the other side, her power used to hold up the so called supernatural purgatory. Tatia’s love is twisted, her blood is used to turn the men she loved into monsters. She had a child, presumably from a man who either left her or died. And then she’s killed by the lover turned monster for her blood. Katherine’s child is ripped from her, and when she tries to start a new life, she’s shown a beautiful, romantic future with a lord before it’s ripped away from her too. Before she sees her whole family slain. Elena is entrenched in grief and trauma, her loss is like Katherine’s, but where Katherine’s happened in a single night, Elena’s happened over three years.
Over and over again, the doppelgängers are used for the two most personal things - their blood and their womb. Having children that they can’t raise.
Amara falls in love with a man far more powerful than her and is condemned to an eternity of suffering and punishment for her crime.
Tatia is blamed for coming between two brothers and killed for her crime.
Katherine has her child ripped from her arms, seeing her daughter only once before she’s gone forever. She goes to England and dreams of a perfect life, emboldened by Klaus and his ‘romantic’ pursuit of her. Probably sees dreams of being a lady and a wife and a mother, for she’s a mother without her child.
But when she realises that these are just her dreams and tries to take control of her situation, she’s punished and has to see her entire family dead. Punished because she did not accept death and suffering. It’s telling as well, the way she’s portrayed on the show, the femme fatale, the ‘sexy’ one, the whore to Elena’s Madonna.
The only one who gets sent to hell for her sins.
Elena sees her parents die, Elena’s stuck between two brothers who love her face and her body and her compliance more than they love her. Who loses her aunt despite giving into Klaus and then becomes his human blood bag. Who keeps trying to save Stefan until he breaks her spirit, who keeps trying to save Damon despite how he takes away her right to grieve.
Amara, Tatia, Katherine and Elena are all sufferers. They suffer for their blood and their bodies and their wombs. They scream and are turned into victims, monster teeth in their throats, and iv lines in their veins and their blood turned to stone.
They are a representation of the most fundamental ways in which women suffer. Through their blood and their wombs and their hearts.
They are not powerful beings, yet their blood and suffering is of use to others.
And yet, they persevere. Amara who chooses her own death, and Tatia who had willingly given her blood to save Elijah. Katherine who takes her death in her own hands and lives. Refuses to suffer. Elena who plays the game and uses everything at her disposal to save everyone she can around her.
Just as all women do.
They all play a game that’s been rigged against them since the beginning.
They are one whose blood enables the existence of vampires and hybrids. Without the doppelgängers, there would be no vampires, there would be no originals, and no hybrids. Their blood is what sustains two entire species.
And so, in one way or the other, they win.

amara petrova was a fae : she wandered into the mortal realm with her older brother as a toddler & couldn't find her way back home. her fae blood is what makes her doppelganger descendants such a magical rarity. there are other doppelgangers in the world than those form her line , but because she was never mortal to begin with almost amplifies it. those of the petrova line are able to tap into fae magic & even those as recent as elena could even cross into the fae realm freely , but since their true heritage died with amara & her older brother for he never told his spouse & own children who he really was it wouldn't even be a thought. because of her fae ancestry , elena's blood is even more of an amplifier for spells. only because she's so far down the line it does require a lot of it to be effect & unfortunately , or fortunately , it isn't fatal to vampires like amara's would be.

kind of want to skip straight to NH Elena in my rewatch partly just because it’s the best part of s4 but also the way I could then be so very annoying about no humanity Elena 🤝 emotionless Julian parallels..

Bonnie and Qetsiyah are the only two women among all of tvdu to get cheated on and are constantly villainized for reacting to what happened to them. Now, my only issue with Qet is how they reduced this powerful and prominent women to only caring about Silas. As for her reaction she got both Amara and Silas together. Nobody was missed from that period. A nice case of fuck around and find out. The Bennett witches never got to have emotions outside of serving everyone else or being these grand creators of something so I loved how they introduced Qet. Amara and Silas both got what was coming. What made Qetsiyah any different from Klaus or Silas? She’s just a woman lol. Bonnie got cheated on and no one wanted to tell her and IF she didn’t overhear the discussion she wouldn’t even have been told in the first place, yet plenty of fans have this argument that Bonnie should’ve been more understanding to Jeremy’s feelings or that because of the Gilbert device(another thing created by a Bennett witch mind you lol..) she deserved to be cheated on in the first place.
These discussions about cheating and what should’ve been done would be so different if it was Elena or Caroline, Katherine blah blah blah :P
Edit: i lied lol, i do have something else im mad about. The lack thereof with Bonnie and Qetsiyah but Bonnie aint allowed family.
in the end all this Silas-Amara and Qetsiyah triangle did was center another Bennett witch in this never ending petrova mess.

“Y/N, I know you had your reasons for coming to New Orleans.... but why are you staying?” Elijah asked. They were standing on the balcony overlooking the French Quarter. The young hybrid sighed as he looks at the older man. “Leaving’s hard than I thought it would be. But like I said, I’m only here as long as you need me here.”
“Yes, and why is that? You are not bounded to stay here like I and my siblings are. You could go. You’re free.”
“Well, I made you a deal. And I never break a deal. You taught me that. I promised to help you protect your baby niece from the New Orleans witches and that’s what I plan to do. Besides... it’s easier than returning home and watching Stefan fall for Elena.” Y/N said bitterly.
“I’m sorry to hear about that. How unfortunate.” Elijah apologized.
“It’s alright. You of all people should understand the pull of a Petrova doppelgänger. Tatia. Katherine.”
“Yes, the ones made to look like Amara.”
“Right. So, I’m not leaving until my mission is complete. If that’s okay with you?”
“It’s more then okay with me.”

From the ask game... this is about TVD...of course. 😉
9. worst part of canon
12. character that's unpopular, but you found something you like about them and it's worth liking (this is my quick version of the question 🤦‍♀️but I guess you got the jist)
😀🎈⚘️
worst part of canon
The Bennetts and Petrovas not being fleshed out more. It is so clear that those two bloodlines are drawn to each other given the flashbacks and how we find them always around each other. Explore that! That felt like the original doppelganger destiny storyline instead of the Silas/Amara - Tom/Elena - Katherine/Stefan stuff. It's much more interesting to say Stefan saw Elena and was drawn to her because of Katherine instead of a prophecy.
BUT - would it have been interesting to know why the Petrova doppelgangers and Bennett witches always seemed to gravitate to each other. I have theories.
The show should have been about those two lineages in equal measure.
the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Like might be a stretch, but I have a lot of sympathy for Isobel Flemming. She was a teen mom and an influential founding family in town adopted her baby and we don't know much about what happened after that. (Which, in IRL, we know that the adoption process tends to prioritize rich families and doesn't do much for family reunification or for the families who are struggling and need resources.)
Except that she was married to Alaric and had (2? 3?) restraining orders against him that we collectively forget about! Seriously. Getting and enforcing a restraining order is difficult.
We know she had her humanity turned off for a long time but we don't know why. What we do know is that people in canon don't just turn it off cause they feel like it. They turn it off because of a deep trauma or need (Elena losing Jeremy and being forced to by the sire bond, Caroline losing her mother, Stefan being compelled to, Damon doing it so he could have the strength to leave his friend behind.)
So....why did Isobel turn it off? What was she struggling with? It is something I'm curious about.

[ poppy drayton | she/her ] Another face is seeking safety in New Orleans. Make sure to welcome NADIA PETROVA to the home of the resilient. Rumor has it that they are an 30/522 year old VAMPIRE, who is one of the RETURNED but we’ll keep that a secret. They are said to be DISTRUSTFUL, but that’s all a façade to cover up their PERSISTANT nature. We’ve heard that they can be found listening to HELMET by STEVE LACY, which sums them up pretty well. Let’s hope that they can find a way to survive this harsh new world. ( chelsea, 27, est, she/her )

Everyone knows Nadia’s story at this point, she was born out of wedlock and was forced away from her mother, Katerina Petrova. She searched endlessly for her mother, eventually finding her 2013.
Their happiness was short lived, however, seeing as she was bitten by Tyler and died shortly thereafter in her mother’s arms
Now here’s where the fun part is - she enjoyed her time in peace, quite honestly surprised that she actually managed to find peace seeing as she had done a lot of bad in her life
