Sometime last year, Claudio hit me up and wanted to come by the studio to run the piano he recorded for this track through some of my gear. I was honored to indulge OF COURSE…and after 4+ hours and numerous prints through several pedals, Re-amping through @mattoverse #echoamp, retracking to a #marantzpmd430, listening through rough mixes of his full EP, and pondering the meaning of life…we landed on several sounds he was happy with. Link in Bio! More of a journey than a traditional song, this is what I imagine it might feel like to take a ride through the clouds. This “song” from its inception was incredibly difficult for me to complete. When I first stumbled upon the piano ostinato, I was immediately addicted to playing it whenever I sat down at the piano, yet I was never quite able to wrangle the idea in it’s entirety. In fact, it wasn’t until my friend and the extremely talented @jennahbell , who also lent her beautiful voice to the track, suggested to delete half of what I had that it seemed to land at its final destination. It’s hard for me to share my work, especially when I’m in it, but being vulnerable usually gets me to where I need to be, and this was no different. Hope you enjoy the journey. Oh and I am singing at the top of the track. So @strousedale brought this beauty #tascam388 in. It occurred to me that the real magic of a piece like this is for Musician to be able to sit alone with it and be creative. To that end, we’re offering a special studio package: 4 hour sessions in our B room, specifically on Friday evenings (6pm) - just you and the 388 (and studio mics and instruments). $35/hr. This will include use of the new B room vocal booth (under construction now). Day 1 of tracking for new @nervoustriggers material is on tape at #volumeiv in #newbrunswick, #nj, with trusty @gobopierce at the controls! We were thrilled that new dad Eric Truchan was able to make the time to come sit in on the kit one more time to record for the songs we wrote and played with him for the first four years of this band. Eric was an integral part of the formation of this band, and is such a great friend to us all! We have been extremely lucky to have two great drummers between Eric & Chris LeSavage (three, to count the shows where we have had the great Mikey Erg as a fill-in). Tomorrow, Chris tags in to record a ton of brand new songs, most of which almost nobody outside of our practice sessions has heard yet! The #Studer A800 was introduced in the late 1970s and was the first #tapemachine to feature microprocessor control of many functions . Compared to the A80 that lives in our #mixroom, our #A800 is a bit more stable in terms of its transport functionality. Punching in/out is much more reliable, alignment is faster, and things just generally seem smoother and more refined . Studers are just such great machines, across all eras. The mechanical engineering of their transports, in particular, has never been matched or surpassed by any other #tapemachine manufacturer . The A800 was far from the most advanced machine that Studer made. Their last analog machine, the A827, was introduced just in time for the 1990s.
