Seeing so many sunny posts lately where I’m like hey I touched on that detail in my fic from a few weeks back :D people would actually maybe like these little details :D but then the fic itself has so little engagement so far and I didn’t want to spoil little details in summary, and I’m also absolutely too terrified/mortified to share a link to it, but I’m just like aahh, aaahhh

This is how Macdennis gets together in season 17. no, it's just a drabble I wrote about them getting together and Mac being super pumped about it. might be slightly OOC I'm still getting used to writing these characters
____
"Okay, try this one," Charlie said, offering two cups of a suspiciously cloudy green beverage to Dee and Frank.
Dee sniffed the drink. "This smells like vinegar, Charlie, what's in this?"
"That smell would be the vinegar, yeah. Then there's milk and absinthe."
Dee scowled and put the drink down. Frank shrugged and knocked it back in one go. He made a face afterwards. "Woah! That's intense!"
Charlie grinned and nodded. "Yeah, that's what I was going for." He looked around the bar. "Where's Dennis? I want him to try it."
Dee looked around as well. "Yeah, and where's Mac?"
Suddenly, the door to the back office flew open. Mac burst out, a huge grin on his face. "YES! It finally happened! This is the best day of my life! FUCK YEAH!" He ran behind the bar and hugged Charlie tightly, lifting him off the ground a little.
"What's happening?" Charlie asked as Dennis came out of the back office as well.
Dennis sat down calmly next to Dee. "I kissed him."
"Dennis kissed me!" Mac shouted.
"Fucking finally," Dee grumbled. "What made you snap?"
Dennis shrugged. "I'm old as shit, I don't want to keep avoiding it."
"That's awesome, guys. Mostly for Mac," Charlie said, patting Mac's back since they were still hugging.
"It's the most awesome thing ever," Mac said.
Charlie finally peeled away from the hug and pushed Dee's neglected glass towards Dennis. "Try this drink I made."
"It's vinegar, milk, and absinthe," Dee said.
Dennis frowned. "No. That's disgusting, Charlie."
Charlie rolled his eyes. "Fine. Mac?"
Mac moved his hand to pick up the glass, but Dennis gave him a look. "If you drink that, I'm not kissing you again for at least a week."
"You're gonna kiss me again?" Mac asked, grinning and moving away from the drink.
"What? Yeah. Why wouldn't I- Whatever. Don't drink that shit."
"So are you two, like, boyfriends now?" Frank asked.
"Are we?" Mac asked Dennis.
"Sure."
Mac pumped his fist several times, chanting, "Yes, yes, yes!"
"You're such a loser," Dennis said. When Mac's celebration turned to pouting, Dennis amended, "It's cute, though." Mac beamed and pumped his fist again.
"This is seriously the greatest thing to ever happen to me," Mac said.
"Since when do you like men, Dennis?" Frank asked.
"Since always," Dennis said.
"What? No way," Mac said.
"Yes way. I experimented in college and I've been banging guys ever since. I just never told anyone."
"I don't believe you," Mac said. "Why wouldn't you tell us?"
Dennis gives him a look. "You were always banging extension cords together and talking about how the gays are going to hell, why would I tell you that I liked men?"
"Oh. Sorry. Why didn't you say anything after I came out, though?"
"You were way too clingy and I didn't want to be with you just yet." Dennis shook his head. "It doesn't matter. We all know now, we're together, it's fine."
Mac giggled. "We're together."
"I think you broke Mac, dude," Charlie said.
"I've just been waiting for this moment for so long I can't believe it's actually happening," Mac said. "Thirty years is such a long time to wait."
"I know," Dennis said.
"You can't complain! You're the reason we waited thirty years!" Mac said.
"I am not! If you were more comfortable with your sexuality we would have been together in our twenties!" Dennis said.
Mac sighed. "Okay, fine. But you're definitely the reason we didn't get together when I came out!"
"Sure, whatever."
Mac smiled and turned to the rest of the gang. "Okay, next matter of business: How soon is too soon to say I love him?"
"I'm right here, dipshit," Dennis said.
"Five minutes is definitely too soon," Dee said.
Charlie shrugged. "I don't know. You've been saying you love him since we were, like, twenty-eight."
"But that was in a friend way," Mac said.
"You can say it whenever, just don't expect me to say it back," Dennis said.
"You don't love me?" Mac asked, a pitiful look befalling his face.
"Yeah, I do, but I'm not saying it," Dennis said.
Mac's mouth dropped open in a silent scream. Then he turned and grabbed Charlie by the shoulders. "Is this real? You heard that? I'm not dreaming?"
"It's real, dude, chill out," Charlie said.
"I just can't believe Dennis actually loves me back." Mac let go of Charlie and turned back to Dennis. "I love you."
Dennis smiled a little. "I know." Mac leaned across the bar and kissed Dennis. Dennis moved his hands to cup Mac's face, keeping him in the kiss.
"Boo! We don't wanna watch you two faggots making out all the time," Frank said.
They broke apart. "We got together literally five minutes ago, let us have this," Mac said.
"Actually, Mac, I think we should go home," Dennis said. "We should celebrate our new relationship properly without these idiots around."
"You're so right, Dennis." Mac came back around the bar as Dennis stood from his seat. Then Mac easily picked Dennis up bridal-style, making Dennis shout in surprise. "See you losers tomorrow." With that, Mac carried Dennis out of the bar.
"Good for them," Charlie said. "Now, I'm gonna have those guys try my drink." He set up another round of vinegar milk drinks to bring to the old guys in one of the booths.

iasip ep called the gang hits the rocks where they go rock climbing with a b plot where they try to sell a fight milk like scam energy drink to the climbing gym for money
so let me describe how i think everyone will preform
(this depends on what season in the series youd think this would be in so if this seems ooc for what youre thinking oops im thinking 8-11 because of brain rot but ig this could work for modern sunny)
charlie- hes probably the best out of everyone for many various reasons. like char does not play
mac- ok you’d probably think hed suck but i feel like hed be alright but his muscles might slow him down. i feel like hed get mad about falling down and sucking but then learn to enjoy it with charlie
dee- dee is either really really good or really bad no in between but i see her doing the b plot. (ok but if she wasnt she’d probably try and get some guy in the gym)
dennis- i feel like den would suck really bad honestly like no way hes good or tries at all. hes probably doing the b plot with frank. (especially modern day dennis)
frank- that man is not doing shit def b plot. i feel like that also makes sense because of the other scam drink eps (like fight milk)
at the end of the episode charlie wins a speed climb competition and no one cares and they all run out since they poisoned everyone with the scam drink. (poor char ily)
ok thats it ive been wanting to write this for 3 days

The Best of the Worst | Charlie Kelly
Tumblr media
Charlie Kelly noticed the pretty blonde girl just as Dennis Reynolds tried to make her into another one of his conquests.
Warnings: Mature themes/language. Violence. Sexual content.
Part One: Charlie Makes a Friend
“What’s your name?”
“Juliette.”
“Well, Juliette, I must say, you are quite eye-catching. Do you model?”
“Uh, no,” the blonde smiled, “I don’t.”
“Have you ever thought about it?” Dennis Reynolds asked her.
“Not really…”
Juliette couldn’t figure out in what way exactly, but she found Dennis extremely off-putting. He was friendly, but only in the way that serial killers were friendly, saying all the right words and smiling and blinking at the proper intervals to be considered attractive and trustworthy to the human eye.
Juliette was grimacing beneath her polite smile, and Charlie could see it from across the restaurant. He, Dennis, and Mac had decided to eat out at Guigino’s, the fancy Italian restaurant, that Monday afternoon. And when Dennis saw the pretty blonde waitress, he decided he had to have her. Luckily, Charlie swooped in as he came back from the bathroom, or at least tried to.
“Hey, guys!” Charlie exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear as he stood beside his friend, trying to distract from him.
“Hi,” Juliette smiled, a bit confused by the situation now. “Can I get you anything…?”
“Uh, no, no,” Charlie shook his head, trying to appear sophisticated despite the fact that his T-shirt had holes in it that weren’t there when he first got it. “My compliments to the chef on his parmesan!”
“Uh… Okay,” Juliette nodded, glad to at least be off of whatever topic Dennis had decided on.
“Hey, guys!” Mac suddenly appeared between Dennis and Charlie, feeling left out. “Are we all talking?”
“No! …God damn it, Charlie…” Dennis muttered in his breath, somewhat subtly glaring at his friend as he turned to face him, “You don’t even compliment a chef on their parmesan, it’s cheese, you don’t have to make the cheese, it goes on a dish! You can compliment the dish that it goes on, but you don’t compliment the goddamn parmesan…”
“Do you guys need anything?” Juliette interjected uncomfortably, feeling as if she were waiting on an old married couple. “‘Cuz if you don’t, I kinda have my own customers to serve…”
“Yeah, actually,” Dennis smiled, turning his attention back to her as his blue eyes filled with hope, “Your phone number?”
Juliette stared blankly, batting her eyelashes as she failed to hide how flabbergasted she was. “N-No,” she murmured, in awe that he couldn’t pick up on the fact that she wasn’t interested at all.
“A-Are you sure?” Dennis stammered, offended by her rejection. “Because, if I may be frank, a man like me knows exactly what to do with cans like yours—”
They all watched as Juliette stormed off, no longer interacting with him under the false pretenses of polite customer service. She walked away shaking her head and muttering something under her breath, leaving Dennis to awkwardly stare at the floor as Charlie and Mac both turned to look at him.
“Dennis, that was pathetic,” Charlie scoffed.
“No it wasn’t,” Dennis snapped, “Shut up Charlie, you can’t even spell ‘pathetic’.”
“You’re right, I can’t,” Charlie agreed, “Which makes it even sadder that even I know she totally rejected you.”
“No, she didn’t,” Dennis sighed.
“Oh, she totally did, bro,” Mac insisted.
“Oh come on, the two of you know nothing about women!” Dennis exclaimed impatiently. “She was probably a lesbian…”
“I don’t think she was a lesbian, dude,” Charlie remarked.
“She totally was,” Dennis insisted as he sat down, the other two automatically following suit.
Throughout the rest of their lunch together, Charlie couldn’t help but think about Juliette, the girl Dennis has treated like another thing on the menu to be ordered over and tried. He felt strangely sad, seeing the awkward look on her face as she tried to fake her way through her unpleasant interaction with Dennis.
Charlie knew he definitely wasn’t as suave, or as handsome, or as clean as Dennis Reynolds, but he knew that if he’d gotten the chance to talk to Juliette first, he at least would’ve been a lot nicer to her than Dennis was. He liked to think that if he could, he would’ve asked Juliette questions about herself, like how she felt about ghouls, or what color of jelly bean was her favorite, or if she liked cats.
The thought was on Charlie’s mind up until Dennis payed their bill with his father’s card, and so he decided to head back to the door to the kitchens by the bathroom.
“Uh, excuse me?” Charlie asked nervously, seeing a busboy coming out.
“Yeah?” the younger guy asked.
“Do you know where Juliette is?” Charlie asked him.
“Uh, I think she’s out back taking a smoke break,” he offered.
“Okay. Out back. Okay, thanks,” Charlie nodded, rushing out towards the front door before Mac and Dennis could notice.
He headed toward the back alley of the Philadelphia restaurant, familiar with the place. Sure enough, he found the beautiful blonde girl leaning up against the brick wall, smoking something that could only be described as harsh even for a cigarette. Charlie approached her shyly with his hands in the pockets of his jeans, gently clearing his throat.
Juliette looked up at him with a furrowed brow.
“What do you want?” she asked quietly.
Considering how Dennis had spoken to her, Charlie found that she was extremely polite. He noticed she looked kind of like a businesswoman, in her black work pants and white button-down shirt.
“Look, I’m not like Dennis, okay, that guy’s a total dick,” Charlie said frankly, “I don’t wanna bother you or anything. I just wanted to say ‘sorry’,” he offered her an olive branch.
Juliette studied him for a moment, taking a long, contemplative puff from her cigarette before tapping the ash off.
“Thanks,” she said quietly.
Charlie nodded, glad she seemed receptive.
“I, uh… I love Dennis and all, I guess, but I think he’s really mean to those nice, pretty girls he talks to,” Charlie spoke candidly, rambling on without a filter. “I don’t get it. Like, why be mean to anybody, but being mean to nice, pretty girls is just crazy. Being mean to you is crazy. You’re so pretty, and you seem nice, and all…”
He trailed off into silence as he looked down at the ground, moving in awkward directions with his hands in his pockets like a child unable to stand still.
“Thank you,” Juliette smiled, with a different tone from before.
“You’re welcome,” Charlie said finally, feeling accomplished as he realized he’d said something that she appreciated. “Can I have one?” he asked after a brief pause.
Juliette looked down and realized he was asking for a cigarette.
“Yeah. Sure,” she nodded quickly, opening the red pack for him. “What was your name?”
“Uh, Charlie!” he said quickly, taking a second to remember his own name.
“Nice to meet you, Charlie,” she said calmly, sympathizing with his nervousness.
“Nice… to meet you, too,” he remarked, unable to remember the last time someone had said that to him.
He pulled a 100 from the box and allowed her to light it for him as he put it in his mouth. She watched him cough as he just barely started to inhale, pulling the cigarette from his mouth for a moment.
“Reds aren’t your usual?” she gathered.
Charlie coughed as he looked at her with watery eyes.
“Honestly, I don’t like cigarettes,” he confessed. “I just wanted to feel, like, what you feel all the time, you know?”

Supress your instincts- Mac hasnt been flirting with Dennis lately. He’s been acting coy and stupid, weak and fragile, when in the past hes been seen to stand up for himself (The Gang Dines Out) and has been very fragile about his masculinity.
Inflate his ego- Mac is constantly complimenting Dennis. He is constantly making Dennis feel like the best in the room (The Gang Escapes). He always tries to put Dennis in front of him.
Need his power- Now this is the big one. Mac is constantly looking for Dennis’ approval (Dee Day) and is looking to him for instructions on how to live and function (The Gang Chokes). In some cases he literally puts the matters of life or death into Dennis’ hands (The Gang Inflates). He has always been dependent on Dennis but now he has reduced himself simply to Dennis’ control.
Negate His Power- In the same episode he is shown living by Dennis’ word, it is revealed he has been poisoning Dennis. (The Gang Chokes) He has made Dennis dependent on him physically. They also have been doing a lot of business together, so Dennis may start relying on him financially. It was implied that Mac is smarter than this though. (Celebrity Booze: The Ultimate Cash Grab). Bryan had that whole speech about the power imbalance in his and Aaron’s relationship, but the imbalance was because Bryan had more power. He did end up saying he was acting, but it was too similar to the MacDennis dynamic to be a mistake. Mac truely has the power over Dennis and is making him reliant on him.
Engage Physically- This hasn’t completely happened yet, but when he was poisoning himself with the nuts, it did cause Dennis to have to touch him to feel his pulse to assure he was still alive. We still have Risk E. Rat’s Pizza & Amusement Center and The Gang Goes Bowling for it. In Risk E. Rats, it is said that Mac is trying to get enough tickets for a prize. This prize may be for Dennis as a gift, or as something to get to hold against Dennis (like maybe Dennis assumes the gift his for him and gets snarky, then Mac says it isnt to get in his head, and then Dennis realizes he does want the gift. He wants gifts from Mac.) In The Gang Goes Bowling, there will most likely be physical touch. Mac and Dennis are both very athletic and competitive, meaning when they win, they hug, pat each other’s shoulders, etc.
Do You Need A Tissue- Dennis Takes a Mental Health Day. Dennis has severe mommy issues, we all know this. He wants someone in control, someone to protect him; we know this from him getting upset at having to guide Mac with every decision, saying he knows Mac wont protect him (The Gang Chokes). It is said in the episode he gets upset and it overflows. In the past when he got upset, he usually took it out on Mac. Mac will not stand up for himself, instead comforting Dennis when he reduces him to a vulnerable state. Or he will threaten to move out into Charlies extra room and Dennis will realize how much he truly relies on Mac.
Mac will win over Dennis. They will use the system against the other, Dennis already having done so as Johnny. They manipulate each other and are happy doing so.

my brain is not letting me form thoughts coherently but I'm thinking so much about our little charlies home alone wolrd i feel siccck i feel sick. do you think they talked at all while she was out of the room about them caring about her. do you think she said anything emotional while on pain meds. im thinking
Tumblr media
katie you make me ill. thank you
i bet mac and dennis definitely have moments just. sitting. in the waiting room. they definitely fight. it starts with mac and dennis fighting over each other for not being worried about joyce, like the fights in charlie gets crippled yknow? theyre fighting sure but it's definitely an expression of how much they care about joyce.
i definitely think theres a phase there, though, where mac and dennis are shooed from her room, since she needs her rest or whatever. and i imagine neither of them are gonna be the worse best friend and go home first. so theyre just sitting, silent, still emotional after crying with joyce. and after a while, you can see mac looking up through his lashes at dennis.
he asks if dennis thinks joyce will be okay. of course dennis says she will be. he tells mac not to be a pussy. some heartfelt scene with mac rambling, admitting his care and worry for joyce. dennis taking a long moment to contemplate, before agreeing, admitting how worried he gets for her, too. how much he cares. theres a long beat of silence, before they break into a fight over whos fault it is again, though its definitely with less effort than before.
as for joyce saying emotional shit on pain meds you know she was on that "i did it all for you guys" shit that makes mac and dennis feel 70x worse. "i hope you guys at least had a good game" and mac is about to punch a hole in the wall. sure she did all that so the eagles could win, but would she even care if the eagles werent so important to her friends? would she be that self sacrificial?
maybe once mac and dennis get to have time alone with her they get a bit more sappy. mac definitely would. sneaking in some glue or something to be able to get high with joyce. hes trying to be strong but he cant get over the guilt that he wasnt there to protect her. maybe hes even crying over her, finally pouring his feelings to her. finally getting out how much he cares and how sorry he is for not being there sooner.
and man. joyce really misses middle and elementary school. she misses the mac that would talk to her like this without her nearly dying in order to achieve it. in the moment, she lets herself be happy that shes getting anything at all though.

Thinking about writing a charmacden story where Charlie is a vampire, Mac is a human, and Dennis is a werewolf
I wanna deep dive into Charlie getting hit and turned into a vampire a few years before the show's canon. He confides in Mac and Mac is his number one support and protector (even if he's human). Then Dennis helps Charlie learn what it means to be a vampire because in the end; he's an asshole but he doesn't want Charlie to die a shitty death you know? He may not be as close to Charlie as Mac is, but he still is important to Dennis
So we get Charlie struggling with his problems, Dennis realizing that one of his human packmates got turned into a vampire, and Mac is trying his best

Ruminating once again about Luther McDonald. How he’s the kind of man who, when he couldn’t afford Christmas presents, went house to house stealing other people’s so that his family still got to celebrate. The way how, even though he and Mrs Mac clearly don’t love each other (the fan theory that they’re in a lavender marriage is my best friend), he still always comes home to her when he can and she still covers for his crimes. The implication, however vague, that at one point there was at least friendship between them that shines through even after years of apathy and hate. The picture of the three of them hugging and smiling that Mac has on his bedside table. There was something there, before he was sent to prison. In Dennis Looks Like a Registered Sex Offender, the first thing Luther does is go and spend time with Mac while also apologizing to people he’s wronged. He makes plans to take Mac and Charlie to the baseball hall of fame like he knows Mac’s always wanted. He’s genuinely trying to be a good dad in this episode. And yeah, at the end he says he’s gonna kill Mac next time he sees him, which is an awful thing to say even if you don’t mean it, but when he actually does see Mac and Charlie again in Mac and Charlie Die, he immediately clarifies he just doesn’t want to see either of them again. In his letter at the end, he clarifies further to Mac that he wants some distance to “learn how to forgive you”, even adding, “P.S. I still love you”. Before he’s put back in prison.
This isn’t to say that Luther is a good father by any means. He’s a homophobic dick. But I think he’s more complicated than some people give him credit for. There’s this ongoing thread about how the American prison system harms people, harms families. There’s this impression that I get watching through the series that Luther was a kind of scummy guy who was trying his best to provide for his and love his family and being sent to prison where he experienced violence and had to become more violent in return just continued to deteriorate his mental state which in turn deteriorated the mental state of everyone in his life. Each time he gets sent back to prison, he gets more cruel, more angry. And I know that even the show sometimes likes to act like he’s just always been this awful person, but I don’t think the text taken as a whole actually supports that. I think Dennis sees Mac’s hope that his dad will one day say he loves him again as delusional because Dennis accepted at a young age that his own father doesn’t love him (even though Frank clearly does love him to some capacity he’s just a deeply fucked up person and—sorry, this isn’t about Frank). But I think Mac’s hope comes from this belief that the decent person his father once was still exists. Mac’s love for his father is based on something, even if that something has been far away for an increasing number of years.
And I think taking all this in about Luther just makes Mac Finds His Pride even more fucked up. Because Mac’s dance isn’t just about coming out as gay, it’s about his feelings about God and his feelings about his father. Mac was using performance art, something which the show has established is very important and personal to him and the rest of the gang (it’s pretty much the only way any of them express genuine emotion), to reach for a moment of connection with this person who he hasn’t felt connected to since his early childhood. To express to the man who wasn’t around to see him grow up what it was like for him. The way he saw God and love and men and women as only being able to exist in an extremely specific way that were all tied into each other and tied into each other in a way his own personal feelings didn’t align with and the way that fact tore him apart. Because he always just wanted to be the perfect straight Catholic son his dad wanted instead of just letting himself be himself. But he realized the only way he could be happy was by being himself, and he accepted (hoped) that was something God could forgive him for, and in turn hoped was something his dad could forgive him for. But Luther had already given up on Mac as a son before he even said he was gay. He doesn’t want a moment of connection with him, a spark of recognition or understanding. Maybe at one point he would have tried, would have at least stayed for the whole performance, but that point is long gone. He can only see Mac as someone who ruined his life—who sent him back to prison when he finally got out, who made his case against murder charges and his time in prison more difficult. He wants a son who never wavered in their devotion or love for him (the way God in Catholicism is often depicted as wanting unwavering love and devotion), and he doesn’t see Mac as that kind of person. But Mac’s love for his father wavering or being thrown into question doesn’t change the intensity or existence of that love, just like his relationship with God. And if Luther tried, he’d see that. And maybe on some level he knows he’d find that connection if he tried. So he doesn’t.

Aye I actually got to watch the episode tonight
Random 16x07 Notes I took while watching before scrolling my dash:
-Mac playing pool just like he plays hockey and bowls I see <3 something something putting too much power/pressure on things/being too forceful when you gotta guide the hockey puck like a little bowl of cream, or throw the bowling ball with gentle precision and finesse... something something previous years him putting too much pressure/force on Dennis but now...
-On a less conspiracy take note, I rewatched Mac’s Big Break recently and I find it fun how Charlie is just like better and knows more about sports and stuff like that and tells Mac what he has to do to play better. Also plays into this season’s theme of Charlie recurringly being the straight man, able to point out and notice things others don’t, but still being a bit of a helpless observer for the most part.
-Great Sharp title cut today, I should make a list of all the best ones/ones with best timing, I know one of the most iconic will always be Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire.
-The cackles and Charlie trying to mirror them <3 love that
-The horror sound effects when the McPoyles turn around and in the next few scenes are on point.
-Following that “Too many ideas, just stick with one” theme again just like in Celebrity Booze... interesting, very interesting. And what’s the main uniting idea that they want to stick it out with huh 👀 (or is it about the blend of ideas, the chili the cheese the fries.)
-Mac touches Den’s arm so much in this ep, they’re both very touchy, it’s nice to see them comfortable with that again.
-First time I’ve been able to watch the rip with commercials, Danny Devito Jersey Mike’s jump scare, how can I connect this to sunny he’s hiding behind the painting with the eyes cut out just like Dennis was in s15 and—*Jersey Mike himself drags me away*
-Dennis saying “it’s too sexually charged” while side eyeing Mac right next to him in frame like that, I don’t even need to comment
-Let’s go, Frank, slow and steady wins the race... slow like the structure, like 16 years wait.
-Artemis saying “hoor” like Frank does, okay, work it.
-Really interesting to me Charlie gets a strike without even needing to focus, something I wanted to say there but I don’t remember. We saw everyone else with their initial strategy and then psychologically affected to fail though and I wish we got to see Dennis in that context as well?
-Mac’s finesse ramble 🤝 Anya in Buffy “I have finesse coming out of my bottom!”
-“Just play the game and we’re gonna win, don’t spin, don’t do it.” This line I like because it feels very much in line with I’ve always been Dennis and you’re you you’ve always been you, and big mo again and just play the game and we’re gonna win, don’t spin, don’t do it, just be yourself, just be, just play.
-I can’t believe they cut off my man on his scream, the injustice! Anyway, gonna need more angst and pain from him, stat.
-Lick
-omg the McPoyle bowling scene was so much better than I expected, that was so funny. Also, Liam wants Dennis so bad.
-They should have trash twin telepathy stuff in this show more, let’s goo, they’re in each other’s heads, they’ve never been apart almost their whole life, we need Dee to figure out how to mess with Dennis’ head next.
-The cgi pin faces will haunt me, they also crashed my computer multiple times like the ep simply would not play beyond that scene.

Bonus: DTAMHD trailer thoughts
-Dennis having a new car when the old one is so inherently tied to his identity/the past, iCarly interesting.jpeg, trying to reconcile the new with the old and him not having control of it, a theme of control this season, who is in control? Charlie or Frank in the world of business? Dennis as Johnny? Aaron or Bryan... is it all an act? Is Mac...?
-Putting things under pressure so they become diamonds subplot to putting Dennis under pressure, I see you, I see you.

Yes! Someone who shares my opinion of New Wheels! I’d seen mostly positives for it around but I never liked it much for the exact reasons you said!
Oh I have.... definitely expressed my hatred for it. I was surprised by the results of the poll I did, and I've seen a lot of love for it too; rewatching I honestly can really only say Why. Why does this episode exist, and why does it play out like that. Like, surface level it's an alright episode, rewatching all of s13 I can maybe understand why people would say it's the best episode of the season, but it's just... perfectly exemplary of the weirdness of the entire season. I know RCG doesn't like having to deal with continuity in most seasons (s2 was an exception because they were trying to integrate Frank into the gang, and it ended up fucking them over bc the network reordered the episodes creating weird continuity errors) but there's a difference between basic continuity (adhering to previously established lore) versus writing a semi-continuous story that carries throughout the season. Glenn has talked before about preferring to keep the show more grounded rather than allowing it to be cartoonish (arguing against the inclusion of little things like adding SFX for Frank firing the gun in post when they hadn't planned for that in a scene, which means that there's a complete lack of reaction from people in the restaurant = unrealistic) and I have to wonder if it's a coincidence that for the seasons he wasn't in the writers room for, shit got. wild. I think at some point you have to draw a line and say, okay, there is no way in fucking hell these are real people anymore. Not that they haven't been getting away with absolutely despicable shit for years now, but it used to be that the designated straight man of a scene would at LEAST point out how fucked up something is, have some sort of objection, something to ground the show in reality and remind us that these characters are in the real world who could face consequences (injury, community service, arrest). I feel that's what missing from New Wheels. WE as the audience knows how fucked up it is for Mac and Charlie to kill a child, or for Dee to sleep with a minor, but to have Dennis, completely removed from the situation, not react with shock or horror, is...... a weird choice. Especially with how grounded his arc is, and how grounded HE is, relative to the rest of the gang in the episode. It feels off. Even if it was like, Mac and Charlie saying YOU DID WHAT? to Dee, and she and Frank doing the same back after hearing that they're unsure if they killed a kid. Zero judgement at all? Unlike the gang <3 They can generally recognize when the OTHERS pull something that's completely batshit, they just lack self-awareness when they're the one committing the acts yknow?? not always, but usually.

Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 // Part 4 // Part 5
So like I think maybe Charlie is actually really good at baking?? He’s probably memorized a few of Bonnie’s recipes and occasionally bakes himself something when he’s feeling upset. Kind of a coping mechanism to actually bake, and the familiar smells that fill a kitchen comfort him as much as the taste of his mom’s brownies do. There’s a sense of pride that fills him when he gets the recipe exact. He really only knows a few recipes, and he’s DEFINITELY super secret about it. Baking is something that makes him feel kind of embarrassed and he doesn’t let the gang know about it.
He might let Mac know eventually, maybe Mac is feeling down or he’s sick or something and Charlie is like “whenever I felt sick mom would bake me something. Fuck it I’m gonna make Mac something.” and brings over a small batch of cookies, careful to hide it from Dennis. Mac is absolutely dumbfounded that the cookies are so good and tries to come up with a scheme to start selling them almost immediately lmao. Charlie is not at all interested and after a lot of insisting, Mac finally gets the hint and just enjoys the cookies and his buddy’s ability to bake. Soon enough Mac is secretly encouraging Charlie to bake more often (and have him taste test everything he makes, obviously) and after a few times visiting realizes Charlie really only makes like 4 things. When Mac asks him about it he gets immediately defensive, rambling like crazy, “Why the hell would I need to bake more stuff? Are you saying my Mom’s stuff isn’t enough, dude? My mom makes really good stuff. You’re over here drooling every time I make you one of her recipes! Don’t go saying shit about her stuff, Mac. You love this shit, I don’t need to make other shit.”
“No, no! Charlie, Christ dude, fucking calm down, will you?” Mac trying his best to deescalate the hostility he accidentally brought on the pair of them. “I’m just saying maybe you should branch out some more. It could be fun to try some new stuff, is all!”
I don’t feel like writing out a whole conversation rn but basically it boils down to Charlie not really understanding the measurements, and it trips him up too much to keep trying new recipes; that’s the reason he sticks with what he knows. At first he did try looking up some different recipes but got extremely frustrated and felt so stupid trying to understand it. Nothing ever came out right so he just gave up on other stuff. When it comes to Bonnie’s recipes he doesn’t even need to measure anything he’s made them so much he just eyeballs it and it usually comes out relatively the same every time, which is good enough for him. The ‘Mac hanging out and just keeping Charlie company while he bakes something’ quickly comes to an end; now Mac is teaching Charlie the metric system and what different abbreviations in recipes online mean. He goes out and buys measuring cups for Charlie and shows him how to use them. He makes a cheat sheet with easy to follow drawings of the different measuring cups and which ones he needs to use for cup, ounce, tablespoon, etc. They try out new recipes together and Charlie starts to become more confident with it. Eventually he goes over to Mac and Dennis’ with a new recipe he looked up and tried all on his own, without Mac there to help him with reading all of it and Mac is SO incredibly proud of him. Gushing about how good of a job he did :,) anyways yeah that’s all I got I just adore the idea so much I needed to get it out of my system. As someone who’s autistic (like we’re pretty sure Charlie is) I personally love to bake because of how precise everything is as compared to cooking. I don’t have to think about how it’ll come out and I don’t have to experiment with anything. Just follow very clear instructions. I think Charlie would feel the same way and enjoy the 0 guesswork that goes into the process of baking from a recipe. Thank you if anyone read all this. PLEASE comment or message me or fucking anything about what y’all think about this concept

thinking about how fragile dennis was when he was younger. he was small, nervous, timid even. scared of speaking out of line and getting yelled at ( frank and barbara would do this to him and dee frequently ). he tried very hard in school, trying to get the best grades possible to appease his parents. his mother loved him in a suffocating way, constantly doting on him and babying him. it was clear that she favored him over dee, and dennis didn't really know what to do with that. even with his mothers love, whenever he made one small mistake or didn't do something that 'little boys' were supposed to do, his mothers mood switched. she would yell at him and say over and over how disappointment she was in him. it gave dennis such a warped view on himself, teaching him that it was often easier to be someone he wasn't in order for things to be peaceful at home. frank was barely around for raising the twins. barbara wasn't much either, but she at least showed some sort of affection. frank was often out for 'business', not paying much attention to his children. canonically, when dennis got the chicken pox, frank went away on vacation because he didn't want to get sick. i have a feeling that happened often when dee or dennis fell ill, frank would leave. barbara would be too drunk or high to do anything about it, so they were often left in the care of nannies. frank and barabara argued often, and dennis hated it. sudden loud noises always scared him and he never handled yelling very well. he often sought comfort in dee, coming into her bedroom when their parents would be screaming at each other, crying and begging for her to hold him and protect him. when they were younger, the twins were practically inseparable. they depended on each other to keep each other safe. sure, they had their normal sibling bickering, but nothing near the level of arguing they do in their adult life. dennis started to get a bit more jaded in his high school years. he began to slip on his mask more often than not, craving popularity in high school. because of dee's back brace he found it easy to bully his sister, finding that it earned him brownie points with the popular kids. even once he met mac and charlie, he would bully them as well. he loved spending time with them, but what would his parents say if they knew he was hanging out with the poor kids ?? so he pretended to hate them when necessary even if it hurt him to do so. after college he adopted the playboy persona, pushing down all of the experimenting with gender expression and sexuality that he had done in college. now he was working for frank and he couldn't act that way around his father. as the years went on he just kept wearing the mask, kept pretending to be someone he wasn't, until he started to forget who he really was and what he really wanted.

i know this entire account is about wanting to fuck dennis but i actually think that a „healthy“ relationship for dennis has to not be sex based at all. maybe even completely celibate. like yeah i think as soon as the other person wants to sleep with him theres going to be resentment and dennis is going to feel unsafe and i dont think that mac is ever going to respect his boundaries considering the fact he canonically doesnt and also because i think he wont understand? like at best because of ignorance and at worst because of malice idk. it doesnt mean they cant get together but its always a little bit fucked up in my mind (saying this as a fucked up macden connoisseur who just got done writing yet another fucked up macden fic). this is why i like charden so much because in that relationship there actually is no need for dennis to give himself up sexually. charlie is fine with sex but he doesnt need it and hes always honest enough that dennis doesnt need to worry about being used. what im trying to say is that i think macden is a lot more likely to happen but charden is a lot more likely to make dennis genuinely happy
