Some important stuff in regards to the harassment of developers came from Bungie today. They won a lawsuit against a guy who repeatedly harassed a community manager and his family (not fully confirmed in the official document, but people are fairly certain this is about A_dmg and his family). This is a twitter thread from the lawyer who went into some details about the situation. The court document is also available to read (featuring some of the horrific harassment tactics that were motivated by racism and also used racism as part of the harassment so be advised if you want to read).
This isn't just a win for the individual community manager and Bungie, but also has potential to set a bigger precedent in the future. It's basically the first time this has been done to this extent and some ruling in this case made it clear that companies can pursue this sort of legal action in the future if their employees are harassed and threatened. This is HUGE because the protection of employees in the gaming industry has been abysmal otherwise. This case will allow for the company to file a lawsuit on behalf of their employees in cases of harassment.
Before I add some of the more heinous stuff about this situation below, I want to say that the majority of reactions to this are positive. People are happy that this happened as it did and a lot of people are excited about potential big influence this will have in the future to combatting harassment of this type in the gaming industry.
Extra details and thoughts below (racism tw):
This started because the community manager highlighted a black content creator, Uhmayyze, who is himself a victim of harassment more often than not (usually of racist nature). He is most often harassed because he is unapologetically positive for which people have continuously sent him awful shit and comments. Because he enjoys the game and isn't jumping on the hate train. Just recently he commended Bungie for a ban wave and had hundreds of people hound him on twitter for his comment, including Gladd who started it by specifically replying to Uhmayyze and putting him on blast (warning for a lot of gross comments, including photoshopped screenshots of fake discord texts to make Uhmayyze look bigoted, nsfw images, r slur, suicide baiting and so on). This is important because the incident of real life harassment was fuelled over a community manager highlighting a content creator that is himself being harassed and despised online for the crime of... being positive. And you know, for being black. This situation isn't an isolated incident. The community, including other content creators, are absolutely horrible towards this one person that they feel, I guess, does not follow the content creator NPC questline of hating Bungie and Destiny.
So of course, at some point, someone from that crowd will feel confident and justified taking things further. How dare Bungie promote this person they hate. How dare they focus on a positive creator. They're clearly biased and don't want to listen to criticism, only to "toxic positivity" streamer. How dare a community manager highlight this creator. It's a personal slight to them, and "proof" that Bungie is bad and evil and "ignoring criticism." There's someone out there (and probably not the only one) that hates this creator and the game so much they were willing to harass and threaten a community manager and his family in real life.
The community manager was first harassed by phone with text messages and voice mails featuring racist bile, including apparently a voice mail telling him to "convince Bungie to create options in its game in which only persons of color would be killed." This is the worst part for me and super concerning in general, as well as showing the dedication of this person to racism, motivated by his hatred of a black creator (which also, by proxy, technically makes the streamer being harassed as well). Absolutely ghoulish behaviour.
This escalated to also harassing the CM's wife and resulted in doxing them; the harasser somehow found their address. Most of the reports on this will say that the asshole "sent them pizza" which doesn't truly capture how horrific the incident was. First, it's a random guy who has your address which is concerning enough given that he harasses you by phone already. Apparently the pizza was made to be "inedible" and the delivery was instructed to bang loudly on the door upon arrival to maximise discomfort. The order was also deliberately made to be paid on delivery to create as much pain for the victims as possible. The harasser also kept track of the delivery and then called the family again when it was done to tell them to "enjoy the pizza." The family immediately contacted Bungie who contacted the police and provided the family with protection. There's no telling how this would've escalated had they not been in the position to call Bungie and had Bungie not reacted to them asking for help. It's absolutely crucial here that Bungie is the type of a company willing to immediately assist in this situation.
Immediately following that, Bungie organised a long and expensive manhunt to identify the harasser and bring them court. That's where most of the expenses went; finding the culprit and protecting the employee and his family. This is the money Bungie earned back by this court decision because they could prove that the expenses were caused by a person harassing and threatening their employee.
This is a big win overall for the whole industry. It's Bungie setting a precedent on how a company should protect its employees. No matter what people think about Bungie or big corporations or whatever, this is how you can use a lot of money and power to make sure that your workers have rights to decency and safety. That's huge for the rights of workers and worker protections. I hope it becomes a standard and that any future harassment is prevented altogether or at least punished accordingly.
Naturally, the commentary on the news from a big part of the community is super positive. Unfortunately, there's also a part of the community that has a lot of really awful shit to say about this. The comments on twitter are littered with people who are using THIS specific moment to yell about Bungie being a greedy corporation, how the money they won should be used to "fix the servers" and "make more pvp maps" or how Bungie will greedily put this money "into Eververse" or "into Marathon." There's comments about how time was uselessly spent protecting an employee who should expect harassment anyway, instead of working on "fixing the game."
This is what I mean when I talk about how impossible it is in the current situation to have a meaningful discussion about any sort of criticism or feedback. There's thousands of comments from people who think that this specific instance shows how Bungie is greedy. This is what I mean when I say that none of these people actually understand what they're talking about. You can't make proper criticism when you can't separate game development with a company's legal effort to stop an escalating harassment campaign of an employee. The majority of gamers are simply not fit to offer any criticism or feedback. The idea that we all have something useful to say and that employees at Bungie are obliged to give us their time of the day is simply incorrect.
I genuinely 100% stand by the claim that the recent barrage of content creators promoting the idea that Bungie is "the greediest company in the world that's scamming players and increasing costs out of greed" as well as the idea that Bungie is "abandoning Destiny for Marathon, isn't working on the game anymore and is deliberately ruining it" is the reason for these comments existing. If a big streamer said that Bungie is getting too much money but also not doing anything "good" with it, then any money that Bungie receives (including compensation for expenses they took to protect an employee from active harm) is a result of greed. The nuance of any situation is lost; when you only learn the mantra of "company has money therefore company bad" you WILL end up causing harm for people and you will most definitely not be an advocate of workers rights. That's where we're at right now.
The dehumanisation of people who work at Bungie (and the harassment itself) is a consequence of this crap and other similar crap that's been thrown into the ether for the past year, disguised as "we're just offering feedback." People heard that Bungie is a "microtransaction hell" and that Bungie is only investing in Eververse and Marathon and they feel like this story reflects that; they feel like an employee being harassed is not deserving of proper condemnation and that this isn't important enough and that Bungie is a greedy corpo anyway so who cares about that. They do not understand how companies work, how games are made, the state of the industry as a whole (or the world as a whole), the treatment of employees or workers' rights, and you cannot meaningfully critique a company's business practices without understanding that. And they don't because they think that legal expenses used to protect victims, finding a culprit and bringing their ass to court is money that is being used for game development and that Bungie receiving this money should result in... new pvp maps or "fixed servers."
And there's even seemingly good commentary where people recognise how this is good, but they initiate the comment with "As much as I hate Bungie and Destiny and I think they're awful and greedy and destroying gaming as a whole..." : that's not the time and place. You don't have to excuse your support of a big win for potential new employee protection policies just because those policies are done by a company. Of course it is. Companies are the only ones capable of pursuing this sort of legal action. It's one good way a big company can put their power and money into a good place to actually help people and bring forth positive change. And like, you don't have to tell us how much you despise Bungie before you're "allowed" to admit that this is good news. Sometimes companies do good stuff. It's literally not that complicated.
I hope that this situation will help other employees demand the same protection, that other companies will follow suit and that this will also make potential other harassers rethink whether or not they will engage in this or similar type of behaviour. In the meantime, know that the community is largely positive about this, but that there are still absolutely detestable human beings who should feel ashamed of their reaction to this. They shouldn't feel welcome here. And there's still people doing this to the devs and I hope Bungie takes their asses to court too.

Is it weird that in pokemon universe almost all parent allowed their 10 years old child to travel alone like a homeless?
It sure is weird and reckless if we look at it with our world's standards. With all kinds of violent crimes against humans, human trafficking, guns and stuff like that even adults don't always feel safe going around by themselves, let alone travelling like that.
But in the Pokemon World (the one from the games at least, I know the manga shows a less friendly world but I don't consider it fully canon), micro crime rate is close to 0 and most of the crime that actually exists is linked to Pokémon thief/trafficking and not offences against humans. Like, the worst human-on-human violence I can think of from the games is Ghetsis having mentally abused N (which is awful but very specific to their own relationship) and shoved Lillie to the ground in USUM. And he's like, the most disgusting and cruel villain the franchise has!
The Pokémon world is dangerous when it comes to the monsters, especially if we take the Pokédex descriptions as 100% true, but they do sound a bit exaggerated compared to what Pokémon are actually shown to do. Like, sure, Gengar hides in shadows to stalk people and then eat their vital energy at the right time, presumably killing them ... But then all Gengars you'll ever meet either just play pranks, attack you in a more 'classic' way and only eat berries, edible items like Soda Pop, Poképuffs/Pokébeans, curry and sandwiches lol
There's also this funny theory that most Pokédex descriptions, especially before Gen7, are overly exaggerated because technically it's the player, a 10~16 year-old, writing them after catching each new species and studying them. So they're exaggerated because a kid/teen wrote them, and they might also include urban legends yet to be proven true. We have a canon case of this with Kadabra's description: while the Dex frames the fact that a kid with psychic powers once woke up transformed into a Kadabra as real, we know from an old official Red&Green guide by GameFreak (from 1996) that it was in fact the plot of an in-universe popular novel (clearly inspired by Kafka's Metamorphosis novella) and it never happened for real.
There are also a couple canon facts that hint at this recently: PLA's Pokédex is written by Professor Laventon and includes a lot of blatant hypotheses. In SV, Clavell mentions that back in his days, which are basically Professor Oak's days, they had to write Pokédex entries themselves with pen and paper ... So this wasn't ever retconned from RGBY times.
It is speculated that in Alola, Galar and Paldea the one writing the entries is actually the Rotom in your device, but it's unclear whether Rotom merely registers what the player tells it orally, if it writes up its own observations, if it gets the informations by talking with the Pokémon themselves or what else.
But as always, I digress ✨
We have reasons to believe the Pokémon world is safe enough to navigate on your own at almost all ages, as long as you have at least one Pokémon able to protect you just in case. People without Pokémon simply tend to stay away from places that are densely populated with monsters and stick in and around urban, safer areas.
Since kids travelling on their own is so common and culturally ingrained in this society, society also evolved in a way that actively helps travellers: Pokémon Centers are free to use and also serve as motels/rest areas although for gameplay reasons this aspect isn't shown; and most people are friendly to strangers because they're used to see travellers of all ages and since the crime rate is so low there's no reason to be as wary as we are irl.
People see this journey as a sort of rite of passage, in some regions more than others (Alola!!), and while 10 is the minimum legal age to become a Pokémon trainer, which happens to often (not always, BW and XY players are a bit older) be player's age, you may become a trainer and travel around at any age! Many trainers we find in our path are older than us and they didn't necessarily start travelling at 10.

i'm very confused, who is alex? you've been mentioning them a lot in your posts lately
oh jeez that's a more loaded question than you could ever know - but i'll give you the rundown.
you're right to be confused! i'm always intentionally vague about him, but to make a long story short, alex is my blorbo of all time, my specialest interest. "a fictional character or celebrity of whom one is especially fond" google says, and i find that description accurate. my alex tag is a blorbo tag for him. he's my right hand arm man, silly rabbit, etc. he's technically over 100 characters, but i'm compressing them into one since they're similar enough and contained across the same body of work. i'm gatekeeping it because it's so obscure this blog makes up 2 of 7 google results for it and also it's weird as fuck, but you can think of alex as an archetypal murder guy. closely associated with blood, gore, horror movies, the messy intersection between violence and sex, snuff films, clowns sometimes, cannibalism, liminal spaces, tragedy, crime fiction, all that good shit. i have a letterboxd tag for him too which might offer some insight. pretty much anything horror related, basically. they're like.. comorbid and codependent special interests that feed off each other in a sick symbiosis. i said in a post earlier it's probably not good for me, cause i've been having crazy scary dreams recently and i kind of worry that the volume of horror content i consume so ravenously (which includes alex stuff) is doing a number on me. but god i do love it so.. you win some you lose some!
not sure how helpful that is, but that's all i can say without a lawyer present. (patrick bateman crying on the phone impression) i guess he's a pretty sick guy! sorry for confusing you but thank you for sending the ask <3 i hope my gatekeeping isn't too frustrating but i have to keep up some illusion of mystery and nonchalance 🕵️ joke but seriously. hope that offers SOME clarification :,)

Hi! I just wanted to say I love the comic! I know it's been a little while since it happened but I really appreciate how you handled the talk fishpaw had with whisperleaf about her anxiety, the writing was really solid and has even helped me a bit with being considerate of my own mental health irl <3
About the latest page, obv you don't have to answer if this is a spoiler, this is more just speculation on my part. Since Crowstar technically didn't kill Firespots, I wonder if there's another crime or killing of a cat that she was punished for that she didn't mention to Fishpaw ... eyes emoji
awh thank you!! i put a lot of thought into that part of the comic. Didn't want it to seem handwave-y by being too basic, but I also wanted it to be applicable to a broad spectrum of anxiety and not entirely just social. i'm by no means anything close to a therapist, but i have been to therapy so i wanted to include some stuff I had learned from my experiences ^w^
I'm glad you spotted that part about Firespots, since he's not dead that would mean Crowstar did not lose a life for him she just believes that she did because she's under the assumption. It would either mean she lost a life for someone she isn't mentioning or that she actually did in-fact lose one for Fallensnow even if she didn't land the killing blow. Could she still lose a life for a cat she indirectly killed?

If I had a nickle for every great glitchmon fic/au I've found over the past month or so, I'd have three nickles. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird/amazing that it happened thrice in 2022. ((I'd also have two nickles for every reminder of and subsequent nostalgia-wave for Glitch Fest ;u;)) Anyways!!! Greetings, person of phenomenal taste & art skill, please take this ask as blanket permission to talk about whatever GlitchFarer AU stuff you want to :)
I'm so so sorry for responding to this so late! Tumblr pulled a Wattpad and kept deleting wiping my responses to this, but after updating Tumblr it's finally working properly and I can answer this!
Thank you sm for the ask ahhhhh!!!! I'm really happy that you like Glitchfarer, it's such a passion child of both my interests in Submas and my love for Gen 1 glitches (which have become so prevalent they're practically a science of their own.). Also, nice to see another Scykoh fan here, making this au made me rewatch their glitch quest videos about pokemon and eventually the entire playlist of glitchfest that they've made.
Also, I have been holding BACK so much when it comes to this AU, but I'll try not to spoil too much of it other than basic world building.
———;
So, Glitchfarer. This au came alive during the first big wave of submas content involving Emmet capturing/using legendaries to beat up God. I remember looking at a particular post about Emmet catching all of the legendaries to absolutely body Arceus to bring Ingo back, and going "that's cool and all... but why not more unhinged? Why not something like MissingNo?" and them boom. It was created and it was incredible.
A really fun thing about this au for me is that while I can portray it comedically, there's a lot of thought and technical stuff that goes into the designs of the glitchmons and the world they live in. For example, the main Glitch City is one big labyrinth that will always get you lost, and is a constantly changing maze. If you dont have one of the locals guiding you, you're stuck in there forever unless a pokemon can use fly to escape. It's made up of a bunch of optical illusions that aren't illusions at all. There are also floating islands as apart of the natural terrain outside of the massive city and a large, endless sea at the bottom that doesn't have a floor to it.
The bottomless sea is more or less a really complicated one-sided gateway to Cinnibar island's coastline, and it's flooded with all of the different pokemon and trainers that are possible, including Zzazz trainers. This is mainly in reference of the Old Man glitch, where various pokemon and trainers can be encountered at the right edge of the Cinnabar Island coastline depending on the letters of your name. Thought it'd be a cool reference to one of the oldest glitches known.
Glitchmons included in this comic are designed based on their known typings, moves, and general corruption in the game. In the introduction post .4 was portrayed as an evil beetle sort of fellow, and for good damned reason!! Encountering one in the wild with the Mew glitch is risky, as these fellas can learn Super Glitch as early as... you know... level 1. It learns it multiple times through its move pool aswell, and it's pokedex entry plays a chaotic glitch tune that never ends and prevents the player from doing most of anything. Japanese Symbol is designed as a bit of a dick head, as it can be encountered through the Mew glitch and will always freeze the game upon entrance. (During research of this, I found out that by complete coincidence Japanese Symbol is the same name given to it by the English community of glitch hunting. I gave it that name because my phone doesn't have the character.)
Currently, there are three other characters planned to join Emmet in his shenanigans; one of them I already revealed in the introduction post, but the other two I won't spoil for a while. Just know that one of them is probably wanted for war crimes and the other is a character I'm surprised to not see much of in this Submas revival, considering they were one of the og fanboys of Ingo and Emmet.

list of reasons i find Brook ridiculous
for brook’s birthday, ive decided to follow up my other two posts of this genre by dragging yet another idiot swordsman. i have everybrook open on my phone next to me. here we go
- first and foremost his most ridiculous crime is existing. as he’s already so ridiculous as a character, im going to talk only about things hes done
- i want to know, did Brook make a conscious effort to change his laugh to sound like his favorite song? how long did it take? what was the in between period like? what did his crew have to say about this? the rumbar pirates were big on playful teasing, did they let Brook live this down?
- ALTERNATIVELY: was brook’s laugh already like that? is that why bink’s sake is his favorite song? is that why it was York’s favorite-- oh we only made it two bullet points before i made myself sad
- relatedly i cannot make fun of anything Brook did in his backstory it will make me too sad. hes spared for now
- i DO want to say from a writing standpoint its so fucking ridiculous to me that he mentions twice being a convoy captain in the past and it never comes up again. oda?? why even bother to include something that cool if you weren't even going to do anything with it?? you could have said hes just always been a pirate but no. oda?? oda
- there was that bit where a bunch of people thought Brook was satan and addressed him as such (i think Satan-sama in the original, and the translation i read was like... Lord Satan or Lord Demon or something). not only did Brook never correct them, but he also ran with it and later used this case of mistaken identity as a reason to threaten to eat a man’s heart
- also both men and women were showing him their underwear in that bit. bi rights
- those satanists let Brook get kidnapped while saying they would try to summon him back. do you think they're still at it
- Brook is older than... basically every old man in the series. Garp, Whitebeard, Rayleigh... all of them. something about that is so weird to me and i cannot place why
- Brook has seen and can prove the existence of an afterlife in One Piece canon and its then never addressed again
- Brook missed so many huge events while being dead. im looking at a timeline rn and these include the obvious, like, roger’s execution and subsequent effect on in-world culture and society and whatever. but also things like the destruction of ohara (which was in his home sea), the founding of the world power known as the revolutionary army (which was about 20yrs ago), and the births of every other member of his crew. wack
- he seems to know about stuff related to the pirate king post time skip, and i wonder if thats because someone told him or he’s just playing along now. maybe he just thinks Luffy made up the term pirate king cuz it sounds cool and he wants to support his captain’s interests
- if he DID ask though, like, who did he ask? his managers? did he pull aside some fan asking for an autograph at a concert like “hey, you look like a knowledgable young lad, mind helping me out?”
- i would love to be there when someone takes the time to explain roger, the pirate king, raffle, the One Piece.... and Brook asks them “what is the One Piece?”.... and someone has to look him in the eye (...or not) and tell him “i don't know”
- Brook has technically died of fright (his soul left his body), like... at least once? it was luffy’s fault
- Brook was an urban legend on the florian triangle and i doubt he even knows that about himself
- when they're heading to fishmen island Brook gets all scared when they encounter a possible ghost ship and Usopp slaps him
- when captured by big mom he sleeps so godamn soundly and securely that he is harder to wake up than she is and this fact nearly gets a bunch of his crew killed
- Brook is the only character i can think of who has ever broken the fourth wall. he only did it once. maybe seeing the afterlife means he now knows hes in a manga. or maybe being isolated for 50 years just made his head be not screwed on right
- speaking of, there’s a bit in WCI at the wedding where Brook is decapitated. i don't know how it goes in the anime, but in the manga like... no one is shown to have decapitated him. his head just pops off. maybe he was just having fun
- also the bit where he rips the fake face off in wci. when someone calls him gross he cries
- there’s a bit in fishmen island where Brook is trying to ask Nami if he can see her panties (disgusting bastard) and he inadvertently protects her from being dehydrated by some guy they were fighting. except the panel setup reminds me a lot of / mimics ace protecting Luffy from Akainu, and it haunts me
- speaking of bits from fishmen island that haunt me, there's a page where it’s strongly implied Brook fucked a mermaid (maybe two). i will of course include the page here
Tumblr media
- yeah. sorry.
- when Brook first meets the strawhats he invites himself inside because “it’s cold out!” but he later admits in punk hazard that he cant feel cold. he was just lying
- no one introduces himself to Brook except Luffy for the entirety of thriller bark
- half related, Franky cradles Brook in his arms / carries Brook around for like a full scene in thriller bark
- there's a link two second bit in film gold where the crew is just relaxing while they're planning for how they're going to get Zoro back and they're all shown eating burgers from pirate mcdonalds or whatever. and Brook is eating a burger and hes so messy that hes got burger on his forehead, and Franky is next to him just looking at him
- Brook also wears fake skin in that movie
- Brook has a running gag where he gets upset when things refuse to eat him and i was going to make a joke about it but im wondering if maybe hes just afraid of being left behind........ made myself sad again
- he cries when a dragon won't eat him tho
- Brook admits to reading monster hentai when talking to Sanji and Kin’emon and if i have to be burdened with knowing that so do you
- when hes trying to figure out the weakness of the zombies on thriller bark he overhears one ate a salted fish and lost its shadow and immediately assumes “oh, must have been the fish!” idiot man
- where does his sword cane go when hes not using it. it just appears. where does he store it
- there's a bit where the strawhats all use a combo attack at thriller bark and the first step is firing an electrically charged Brook in a slingshot through oars/oz. he ends up in a wall and no one ever pulls him out. i don't even think the manga shows how he got down
- enemies post time skip regularly assume Brook is dead when they manage to knock the crew out and it makes me wonder how popular of a rock star Brook actually was
- Brook goes on a mini rant to no one while they're descending to fisherman island where he wonders aloud how he sees without eyes and it makes me lose it
- this isn't Brook technically but Nekomamushi is based on a song Brook’s voice actor wrote about his cat.
- Brook literally doesn't have a brain. like i know we all know that but its so fucking funny. we make jokes about other strawhats only having one braincell or whatever but Brook straight up 100% just has a seashell where his brain is supposed to be
-  why does he have rubber glove looking hands when hes haunting the castle at wano i fucking hate them
- relatedly, there’s a bit where Brook mentions he’s been, at kinemon’s interaction, sitting in a well for like... possibly days? is he okay
- honestly i love everything about Brook’s actions as a ghost in wano bc its so fucking funny but my FAVORITE fact is that Brook is in the wikipedia article about starving skeletons
Tumblr media
im leaving you with that. appreciate ur local skeleton today

Real quick bit of stalien worldbuilding I wanna establish, within the specific society all the main cast is in, pretty much everyone is set up to work some sort of job when they're around 3 years old, which is around the age their old enough to feasibly survive the legally required arm amputation (many still don't) so they can get the floaty robot arms. Also, important to note that while beyond the point of around 4 years old staliens develop at a relatively similar rate as humans mentally, before that point staliens generally are a lot more physically developed than humans much earlier on in their lives, although they're still very much 3 year olds. I wanna talk abt this some more, because for most of these guys their work lives effect them a lot and is pretty important to know, so y'know what time it is, time to chuck a list under a read more woo
First things first, let's get the people who don't have jobs out of the way. Busy and Dancer don't simply because they've never been legally a part of their society, and Butter was mostly raised underground and disconnected from society so they don't have a job either, but then there's Alpha who is an interesting case because she's a pretty rare case where someone doesn't have a job and it isn't a legal crime on their part. She was a part of a batch of kids picked out every 10 years or so to be trained as medics and servants to the elders (aka the government), but the person assigned to teach them instead basically used them as lab rats to fuel her own side business, which ended up as a whole scandal when that along with the web of other business she got up to wad uncovered. At that point Alpha and the other kids were too old to start training for the program, and the hassel of finding a way to get them new jobs would just be too much in the eyes of those whos job it wad to do that since most of that stuff is automated, so instead they just settled to give them some bare bones compensation payments and story of just left them to figure shit out on their own. At the start of the story Alpha had been living with beats for a few years at that point since the two met soon after she first got away from that shitty situation and needed a place to stay. So that was already a doozy do I'll try to be faster with everyone else fngndjrn
Beats does a lot of hard labor with basically no pay, with her initially being set to work on the farms but eventually being forced to also help man the factories thanks to how understaffed her place of employment is. She's also one of the older employees at the place since most of the population isn't any older than 24, so she's expected to do a lot of the work that the younger employees just can't handle but have still been assigned anyways, leaving her frequently doing much more work than shes payed for (which is already basically none of it since she's only regularly payed in rations)
Looser and Sprinkles both have somewhat similar jobs, being focused on news and social media management. For Looser, he's basically an editor for news sources and such, chosing out which articles to include in any given piece and adjusting and cutting things that could get the original author and himself in trouble with the higher ups if they were published as is. Sprinkles does somewhat similar but with audio broadcasts, although usually she doesn't have to do as much editing since usually her scripts are run through editors before reaching her. They both generally have a lot more freetime than most, but Looser specifically is put under much heavier surveillance than most.
Now it just occured to me that Mason doesn't technically have a job either, but that's because they just. Quit and managed to get away with it by continuously deleting their tracks using their sick hacking skillz or whatever. Their original job though was a. Really really horrible one, as they basically managed a lot of the outcasts of society along with a lot of the recently "retired" staliens. I won't go into detail because it's like really horrible, but yeah.
On the note of horrible jobs, Helmets current day job is the executioner job I've mentioned before, and uh yeah it's as bad as it sounds fjfbdhfndg. Basically executioners are government owned assassins, although not all of them are assigned work equally amongst them. Helmet actually goes out of their way to be bad at their job and not seem very noteworthy amongst the crowd as to get assigned as few targets as possible, while also having to try to balance that with not being so bad that they're seen as a burden or as disloyal and get taken out themself. They manage to do a pretty good job at this, but that's like at least 60% because of Mason's assistance, along with the fact that Helmet was placed in this job when they were like 14, so they never rly were a super appealing option for even not super important jobs.
Aaand I think that covers everyone! Yeah their society sucks.
