Possibly the only bit of characterization/backstory I like from this comic. Jason’s (biological) big brother joined a gang that employs kids as bait to try to feed himself and Jason, donned the red hood, and got killed. Bruce’s first encounter with Jason was in the middle of him attempting to avenge Danny. Then later when Jason crafts his red hood persona, it’s to honor his late brother.

So clearly the whole concept of this album is to talk about the Massive Elephant in the Room (the breakup) by only talking about the one temporary moment of the Immediately After (“we now conduct this post mortem”) which I think is entirely brilliant. But I’m curious what people’s thoughts are on how that can be reconciled with her saying she’s been writing the album for the last two years? To me it entirely reads as “I wrote this in the frenetic haze of last summer,” not “I accumulated this album in pieces over multiple years.” Like…Which song(s) do you we think she even could’ve written back then?

It’s strange how I learned more about Priscilla from Elvis films than the Sofia Coppola film. After it was over, I turned to my friends and asked, “What did you learn about Priscilla (as a person)?” She liked print dresses and karate. That’s all I got… Divorcing Elvis saved Priscilla. The director was in a position to explore her agency during and after the fact. Why she didn’t is something I don’t understand. Abuse victims are more than just their abuse, after all.
