Are there any sonic au’s you would recommend? I am trying to find more to get into so would love to know if you have any favourites out there :D
Hello! Oh there are so many! :D I definitely have some favorites and some which aren't favs but are pretty great.
Putting these under the cut because there are so many! And there's definitely more cool AUs that I haven't seen or haven't saved.
Anyways, please enjoy my personal selection:
Seven Years Too Soon by NightFuchia. Basically what if a much younger Sonic accidentally set Shadow free from Prison Island. It has awesome characterization and happens to be one of my favorite stories. The rest of Team Sonic is also present
Brotherhood's Twist by @/drawloverlala even though I don't think it counts entirely as Au but it still sort of does. Unbreakable Bond ageswitch due to Zeti's meddling.
Passion's @sonic-tangled-au . I love it! So very much. The lore and backstories are so good.
Noonui's World Restored in Imbalanced Chaos au. Extremely engaging and good. Has a bunch of world building and fun concepts and lore.
Sonic's Super Totally Awesome Mixtape, though it seems to be discontinued, I'm not sure. It's pretty good so far! Takes place in the movie verse.
@brainworms-all-night-long is working on a Dreamtale Au which I'm hyped for. The tag in use is 'dreamtale and sonic tomfoolery'.
@/the-starlight-project comic is pretty good too. Mystery! And emotions. So many emotions ough.
And there's @the-emerald-isle-au by @0vergrowngraveyard . Very intriguing. 👀
Please do check out the Pandora Au by @/starrjoy. It's great!
The Fair Folk by Irritable_Fabulamancer, this fic is one of my favorites! Team Sonic as Fae my beloved! I love fae AUs.
On that note, if you're alright wanting to read a Fae!AU which is pretty much a sonadow fic, there is also I don't believe in fairy tales [but I believe in you and me]. Fantasy and Fae! Satbk inspired, another one that had me hooked.
My Arms Are Blue by thekyuubivixen and its unofficial, fan-continuation (My Arms Are Blue! Final Four Edition) by PlaystationPassenger. The story doesn't completely count as an AU but I'm recommending them anyway cuz they're really really good and has that watching your own show from different dimension trope. It's also hilarious and fun.
Burning Arrow, Wildfire Heart by Taranea is SatSR novelisation AU with Sonic's other friends present too, it's pretty fun. Not very accurate regarding the desert but it's a good read and I come back to reread it often. Must read in my opinion. Just don't dare use it as guide for desert travel or you'll be shriveled up in the sand somewhere
This fic. Read it, I will not elaborate this one. Just trust me :]
And don't miss out on @shadofiredragon's Legends Never Die fic. It's a future fic! And an awesome one. I won't spoil much but it is so good. She also has lots of fun AUs in the works.
Down the Foxhole series by MoonlitNightin. Sonic Prime AU series which is great! Tails' pov. The Shatterverses have their own Sonics. Engaging and great.
Feel free to check out @/Son1c's 10verse and other AUs. Those are some pretty great ones. Love the different lore and variants given to the Shatterverses in 10verse.
Spirit of the Wind by TrenchCoatGecko. Satbk inspired fantasy au. Sonamy, has focus on magic and lore and other characters as well.
If you'd like some Forces angst with Unbreakable Bond focus, please do read Illusionary are your arms around me by @nixoon-again. The feels will kill you /pos
Chaos Barren by but_why_not. I forgot to add this earlier (this is an edited addition). Takes place in the Blue Devils AU, great story!
Baby Tails shenanigans by @myymi . Tails got turned into itty bitty infant kit. (And also check @0vergrowngraveyard 'baby tails' tag for more little gremlin scenarios)
Myla is also working on @tails-and-the-ink-machine au
Feral au by Oneshot_bravo. Little short stories or drabbles taking place in Unleashed but the werehog is feral yet keeps his memories. Very lighthearted and fun and cute
Three or more foxes form a skulk by @/chiropter36 . Post Prime au fic, loved it! Go read.
Also, @donelywell 'roadtrip! sonic au' and 'Casino Nights Au'
Haven't yet started reading The Fox's Burrow by @/space-gutz but I'm planning to. Recommending it either way cuz I feel like it's gonna be good. Unbreakable Bond but ageswaped au.
@/sonicchaoscontrol comic. Another in-progress au which is also quite intriguing. Sonic jumps through a portal and exits in future where the planet is a mess. The mystery of what and how it all happened and what's going on slowly unfolds.
The Buzzsaw Dillemma by redpenship. I haven't personally read it myself but I've heard many good things about it, especially it's world building.
Incomplete and won't be updated anymore but if you haven't read them yet, DO NOT miss out on Ghosts of the Future and The Murder of Me fancomics by Evan Stanley (spiritsonic) and Gigi Deutrix (gigi-D) respectively. They're a must read. Both are available on DeviantArt.
The Heart of a Monster comic, @/the-heart-of-a-monster. It's in progress and updates regularly. Unleashed retelling, really really good with some extra lore and everyone involved.
Sometimes the Picket Fence isn’t Perfect and Sharp Edges (Sonic Prime AU) series by @/skimmingthesurfaces. I'm holding off the first one to read later, like that one book you've been saving so I'm not sure if it completely counts as an AU, still putting it in recs, and the second one is intriguing so far. I have heard a lot of good thing about the Picket Fence series.
Dark Boom by Smash50. The entirety of Team Dark in the Sonic Boom universe. Alongside it, there's also Boomtober by the same author.
It Always Snows by the 24th by Selendred had me hooked even though it's a oneshot. Great au and would love to see it explored more.
No One said I Wish by SylWritesStuff. One of my fav stories from the Sonic Platonic Fairytale Week event. It's really funny.
Sonic Phantom Forces (SPF) au comic. Sonic Forces au, blue boy gets taken away but not in the way you think, pretty cool story so far. It's in-progress and available on both Tumblr and DeviantArt. @/spfau
If Black Doom tried to be a better father by Tirainy. Don't take this one seriously. It's pure comedy and I love every second of it. Shadow is having a time for sure XD.
Silent Talkers by @brainworms-all-night-long. Takes place in the Prime Bros verse, feels intensified, all the good ones. A must read, trust me.
And speaking of the Prime Bros AU (in which all Shatterverse foxes also got adopted by Sonic and are now brothers), feel free to scroll through the 'prime bros' tag here. So many awesome posts for this particular au by everyone!
There's so many more, cool ones, epic ones. I haven't saved all and I'm probably forgetting some great ones too so I'm leaving this open for others to add. If y'all have more cool AUs, plz add to these (I wanna check em out too)
....
And now a few from the Fanfiction.net site because it doesn't have much audience compared to AO3 and there are some actual gems hidden there;
Premonition by thekiyuubivixen (not entirely an au but it feels like one due to the unique ability Sonic gains)
The Sonic Project by SconnieSA. Rated M but it's a pretty awesome AU and the rating is due to more serious themes and uncensored language in some parts. Highly recommending this one
Survivor's Resolve by DC111. Not entirely an AU but I must rec this fic it's so good and doea havs some AU vibes.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Attorney of Law by thedraconicwerewolf. Ace Attorney type AU with Sonic and Tails as main characters. Not too adventurous but very very fun and interesting and still managed to keep Sonic in character. Though it has a sequel started, I only rec the main story, not the sequal as it seems to be abandoned and isn't needed to be read like them cliffhanger stories.
beLIEve by Meow21. I have only read snippets from this, waiting for this story to continue but it seems to be discontinued. Felt like an epic story too and deserves to be recommended.
Sonic and the Golden Journey. Sonic gets thrown in another storybook, this time it's a children's classic fairytale. Short but very comedic and fun. Go read it.
Tales of a Samurai. I am begging you to read this one, please it's so good. Also by Taranea.
Wonderful and it's sequal Sanctuary by Inflamore for some Unbreakable Bond angst. (Kindly ignore the obliviousness of earlier ff.net for not knowing the meaning of certain symbols, there's nothing of the sort in story, trust me.)
Regrets by MazzyBooks. A high school au of sorts. Sonic centric with some heavy angst. I'm not kidding about the angst part, trust me. It had me hooked from the first chapter though and I believe it deserves a rec.
You need the cracks (to let the light shine through) by king.needlemouse. Istg this is the most underrated thing I've ever come across, it's one of my absolute favorite fics which I can never forget. Do read it.
Within this Nightmare by sonicfan1990. Sonic get transported to an alternate universe which has gone post apocalyptic and his counterpart in that universe has been dead. Pretty great story, lots of angst and everything.
And that's all I could remember and have saved for now. I'm leaving this open to more AU recs (yes even self plugs are welcome) so if you know any I missed, plz feel free to add. I hope you enjoy all these great AUs!
Thanks for the ask!

Welcome!
Hello! This is my fanfiction recommendation blog. The fics in this blog were written by various authors from AO3, Quotev, and Tumblr. If you're looking for fics posted on Wattpad, please go to my Wattpad profile and check out my reading lists.
This blog isn't dedicated to any particular fandom, so don't be fooled by whatever my blog's current theme is. I post what I like. My main criterion to determine whether or not I post a fic here is whether or not I want to reread a fic someday. I'm a simple woman. (This blog is basically my library.)
Most of the fanfictions here are female reader or OC inserts. It's quite rare for me to post character/character fics because it's also rare for me to read character/character fics. Also, most, if not all, ships are straight. If they're supposed to be a gay ship, one of them is probably genderbent. Sorry. If that's not your cup of tea, you're free to click/tap away. Additionally, some fics may include dark content. If you don't know how to define that, maybe you shouldn't be looking at this blog. As always, you're free to leave if you don't like such fics.
Fandoms, characters and ships available (in alphabetical order, mostly):
[Note: To look for fics more efficiently, type the character/ship/fandom name in the search bar. Look for the name you used in the search bar in the tags of the results/posts. Click on the tag.
TLDR: Search by tags instead of just looking up the name using the search bar.]

ahoy there 👋 i just remembered a horrible conversation i had recently in which little old me brought up joey batey because i love him and EVERYBODY ELSE immediately proceeded to google him and then bash him for being a basic white man 😭 AND SOMEONE THOUGHT HE WAS DANIEL RADCLIFFE 😭 and they all said they thought i would have better taste because i was TOO WEIRD FOR HIM (weird being a good thing) 😭😭😭 let me tell you, could a BASIC man say cause ive been here so many times before dont you think i look pretty curled up on this bathroom floor where you see weakness i see wit sometimes i fall to pieces just to see what bits of me dont fit and when i stand those folks will run and tell the tales of what ive become theyll speak of me in whispered tongues and say my name like it shakes their bones ???? NO A BASIC MAN COULD NOT!
Bestie this literally broke my dear heart this morning (haha, my puns strike again). I was literally putting my cloak on and brushing my teeth as I was getting ready for the tavern and mountaineering today, and in my free hand I was reading this and I swear to the gods above in the mirror I could see my face twisting in absolute, "What the fuck?? How can people be so mean???" like no wonder the poor blorbo dude swears off social media
Dude's a wise old soul, and I'd 10/10 dedicate a season up in the mountains meditating and learning whatever knowledge he could pass down to me
What they're doing is like referencing a deity character from mythology and calling them "basic" lmao
Joey is not in the same category as those basic bro dudes you meet at a pub who are like, "Oh, yeah, I'm a musician; I play the guitar and stuff *hair flip* — Music just speaks to my ✨soul✨" and then when you follow them back to their apartment they just strum the same three Nirvana chords over and over again and think that counts as serenading or something, like a sad little Emperor Penguin with no song to woo you over with for the upcoming hatchling season
Am I speaking from experience? No. Well. Maybe. Yes. A little. Doesn't matter, POINT IS: Joey saw the bar for men, looked at it, and said, "Is anyone gonna raise that a little higher, for heaven's sake?" and did not wait for an answer, and now that bar is literally so wedged up into the sky high above I just cringe at every Kyle I come across upon my many, many ventures into the world of courting men
Tumblr media
Anywho... Dedicated bodyguard rant aside, Daniel Radcliffe himself ain't even a basic dude lmao
They're really gonna watch this video and call the man, the myth, the legend himself basic
youtube
I swear to the gods above; boys with dark hair and blue/green eyes are on a different level, ie. Jaskier, Joey, Daniel, Percy Jackson etc
Also bestie I sure hope they weren’t your friends! If so, they suck — join your local DND club and make better friends <3

While Mount Blanc, The White Mountain, retains its name in the horror AU, saying it brings to mind the home of fae. Urban legend has it that a soldier in the first world war stumbled across the mother of all fae in his den, and that they fell in love. The soldier's death caused the mother so much grief that it affects the whole mountain and the forests below them.
All sorts of magical creatures, from the straight up tiny winged creatures to the grotesque and beautiful fair folk to such things as loups-garous and feu follet have, supposedly, been seen across the barrier of the man-made fence or slipping out from behind the fence.
But there are some creatures born straight from the mountain, and not born of other myths.
After the expansion, the soldiers who guard the mountain are called Chasseurs de la Forêt(hunters of the forest), or Les Chasseurs de Maman(mother's hunters), and while they do communicate with other military branches and cooperate, they do not defer to them nor the French government. They do as they please and after the expansion, both the French and Swiss governments leave well the fuck enough alone. If you go and visit the outpost, offerings aren't required... but gifts of alcohol, meats, and ammunition tend to bring you better luck during your stay there. It's highly discouraged to try and take home a souvenir, though. Everything from bad luck to your death by the very object you stole can be expected to happen. Media, recording devices, and other forms of information gathering are banned vehemently and even joking about taking pictures will get you thrown out of the outpost.
The masked people sometimes seen flitting in between the trees are called Les Honteux(the ashamed), and are said to be the souls of those who trespassed on Mother's land without permission nor respect. Their bodies are said to be twisted like gnarled limbs and their faces covered with bark and ivy. They're often used in local children's tales to keep kids from trespassing and to teach them to respect what belongs to someone else. To drive one away, it's said you must threaten to call Mother on them--in the same childish way one sibling would threaten to call Mom on another.
The third most well known sighting is the Fleurs Mortes(flowering dead) or Amants de la Mère(mother's lovers). These are people that Mère des Pins has called over personally, and the most famous of these is L'oeil(the eye), for whom Mère called for so passionately that he expanded his forest for her in a raging tantrum until she returned to his side. The flowering dead have many different forms, but are always cadavers brought alive by vines. That occasionally leave the perimeter set by the fence to peek on the living. They're said to be violent in the winter, but playful and even joyful and helpful in the summer. If you want to seek out one's help in the warm months or keep your family safe in the winter, offerings of honey, meat, and wine are gleefully taken.
L'oeil herself is said to be the smartest and most dangerous of the flowering dead, and is known for the bright blue blossom in her right eye. She can still talk fluently and her debates can drive any sane man backwards in their own skull. She is said to be lulled by gifts of bones, black silk, and sugary treats, and you must refer to her as Lieutenant if you ever find yourself entrapped by her. To survive an encounter you have to be entertaining enough that she doesn't kill you, but not so entertaining that she takes you home to Mother. The Chasseurs speak of her with fondness if brought up, and her name can spook the most insistent Honteux... but speaking her name frivolously is said to draw her attention, so don't say it lightly.

Defying Gravity with Icarus: A High-Flying Take on Newton's Law
Oh, the cosmic capers we get up to! Here we are again, bringing you yet another rollicking tale from the annals of science, this time with a twist straight out of mythology. Picture this: Icarus, yes, THE Icarus – wax-wing wonderkid, legend of the skies – giving us the lowdown on Newton's law of universal gravitation. You heard us right, folks. Buckle up; it's going to be a whimsical ride!
Gravity – that invisible anchor, the subtle tug we love to ignore until we trip over our own feet. It's like the universe's own version of a practical joke, keeping everything from moonbeams to mountain ranges tied together in an unending cosmic conga line. But what is this gravity, really? Is it just the universe's way of saying, "Stay down, earthling," or is there more to this story?
Enter Sir Isaac Newton, apple aficionado, and gravitational detective extraordinaire. This chap didn't just sit under trees waiting for fruit to fall; he saw apples as clues in the greatest mystery of all. Newton's eureka moment didn't just give him a bump on the head; it gave us the key to understanding why we aren't all just floating around like aimless balloons.
This gravitational force, according to our winged narrator Icarus, depends on two main players: mass and distance. The bigger the object, the stronger its gravitational pull. It's like a cosmic game of tug-of-war, where the heaviest kid on the block always wins. And distance? Think of it like shouting across a vast canyon; the further you are, the fainter the echo.
Now, here's the juicy part: gravity isn't just a downward drag. It's an all-around attraction fiesta, pulling from the center of objects. It's like Earth is giving us a giant, bear hug, keeping us snug and secure on its surface. So, when you drop your ice cream cone, don't just blame bad luck; thank gravity for keeping you and your cone in this grand, cosmic waltz.
But wait, there's more! Newton's apple didn't just fall; it set him off on a mind-bending journey, leading to the law of universal gravitation. This law, a gem in the crown of physics, tells us that every little thing in the universe is pulling on every other thing. It's a never-ending game of cosmic tag, where everyone's 'it.'
Our dear Icarus, with his usual flair for the dramatic, illustrates this with his own, shall we say, heightened experiences. He talks about the gravitational nuances like they're part of his everyday adventures – or misadventures, as history would remind us.
So, as you scroll through this gravity-defying narrative, remember: every step you take, every move you make, gravity's watching you. It's the unsung hero of the cosmos, the silent partner in our everyday dance. And for those of us who dream of flying too close to the sun, it's a reminder that what goes up must, inevitably, come down.
Icarus may have had his wings melted by the sun, but his spirit soars on, teaching us about the forces that keep our feet firmly planted on the ground. So, join us, dear readers, as we revel in the hilarity and wonder of gravity, narrated by the most unlikely of guides. It's a tale that's bound to keep you grounded – literally!

'Whether it's stealing scenes or commanding the frame, actress Emily Blunt proves time and time again that she can do it all. Drama, comedy, singing, dancing, or even narrating the heck out of a documentary, she makes it look easy. By all accounts, Blunt positively shines alongside a ridiculously talented ensemble of actors in Christopher Nolan's upcoming historical biography, Oppenheimer, playing biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), aka the "father of the atomic bomb."
In Blunt's 20 years of making films, large swaths of her resume include some very choice sci-fi, fantasy, and genre films. Obviously, SYFY WIRE lives in that genre lane, so we've long admired her taste and commitment to participating in some truly memorable genre projects. And we love that Blunt consistently returns to genre projects amongst her meaty dramatic roles and more light-hearted comedies. As such, with Oppenheimer opening wide this weekend, SYFY WIRE presents our favorite Blunt genre films.
Emily Blunt's Best Roles in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Other Genre Films
The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016)
The sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) pits Blunt's Princess Freya against Charlize Theron's Queen Ravenna, and that match-up is gold in our eyes. Essentially, the sisters aren't great at coping when dire things go down, so these messed up sisters wreak a lot of havoc in the kingdom. Per usual, Theron and Blunt pull out all the stops playing broken queens of magic, and the movie works best when they're in the frame, together or apart.
The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
Blunt and her Oppenheimer castmate Matt Damon worked together before in this under-the-radar, sci-fi gem. Blunt plays the mysterious Elise Sellas, who keeps popping up in the life of Brooklyn Congressman David Norris. The story has a lot of fun twists, turns, and themes explored regarding destiny. But their flirty chemistry is another big reason to watch.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
On the other hand, the chemistry between Blunt's Dr. Lily Houghton and The Rock's Frank Wolff in Jungle Cruise is barely tepid at best. However, Blunt returning to action-heroine mode is always a good time. Houghton's extremely competent character (and Blunt, the actress) look like their having the most fun throughout the movie.
Into the Woods (2014)
Not a lot of folks were aware that Blunt has a top-notch voice until she got to show it off beautifully playing the Baker's Wife in this adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's stage musical. She's paired with James Corden's Baker, and together they play out one of the best arcs in this cautionary tale about dreams coming true in a haunting way.
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Who could imagine anyone filling the spit-spot shoes of Julia Andrews as Mary Poppins? Most audiences couldn't contemplate someone being a worthy recast of Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Returns, but then Blunt's name was announced, and everyone shut up because she just nailed it. Equal parts austere and loving, Blunt is maybe the only actress today who could so ably run with the baton given by the legendary Andrews.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Blunt returns to play ultra protective, post-apocalyptic mom, Evelyn Abbott, in A Quiet Place Part II. She's just as great in this sequel, but there's less for her to play outside of the major action beats. However, if you want to get a taste of her on-screen chemistry with her Oppenheimer hubby, Cillian Murphy, there's plenty to appreciate here as Evelyn and Emmett thrown down.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Much like Linda Hamilton became a bad-ass, sci-fi legend after playing Sarah Connor in Terminator 2, so too did Blunt after playing Rita Vrataski in Edge of Tomorrow. The sci-fi, time travel twister features Blunt stealing scene after scene from blockbuster poster boy, Tom Cruise. She's intense, mercurial, frightening, and heroic, and she kicks the action star's butt for half of the movie. You have to have some chops to sell that, and she does.
Looper (2012)
Poker Face creator Rian Johnson's complex time travel film, Looper, stars a trio of fantastic performances from Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Blunt. It's a high-concept story that remains incredibly grounded because of those performances. And Blunt still manages to standout, especially for her shattering performance as the very protective mother, Sara.
A Quiet Place (2018)
In the fantastic sci-fi, horror thriller, A Quiet Place, Blunt plays matriarch and feral mom, Evelyn Abbott. Married to Lee (John Krasinski), the couple have two kids, with another one on the way. A lovely life, except they now exist in the nightmare reality of trying to survive aliens who have landed and wiped out huge swaths of the population. Sonically-tuned to even the most subtle of noises, the aliens force the Abbotts to exist in silence. Blunt is amazing as the terrified mom, and executes the harrowing scenario of giving birth in utter silence with chilling perfection.
Check out another amazing performance by Blunt when Oppenheimer arrives exclusively in theaters everywhere this Friday, July 21. Get tickets now!'
