Can someone please explain this richonne van lore to me? I can't listen to the podcast you mentioned
oh, I will GLADLY. so season 7 episode 12 of The Walking Dead is called 'Say Yes' and is widely known as the rick and michonne honeymoon episode by cast and fans alike. It aired in 2017.
For context, it's not a literal honeymoon but those are the vibes. it's the first episode dealing with their relationship properly after they first get together in season 6. Rick and Michonne hornily volunteer for a sneaky cheeky supply run to go retrieve supplies surrounded by a herd of Walkers.
Rick and Michonne are horny as fuck so the episode has lots of them kissing and so forth. now, the VAN SCENE™ is them in the back of the van they've been driving around making out very aggressively. it's as close as TWD can ever get to a sex scene where people are not having sex because TWD was a cable TV show. It's a very brief scene, less than 30 seconds but it's uhh VERY hot.
after the episode aired, Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln were asked about shooting these scenes on a panel (I can't find a link but if I do I'll put it here/if anyone has one lmk). both of them mention that, while shooting the van scene, there was a take where they got so "carried away" the footage would never be released. the director of the episode also joked he keeps the footage locked up. None of them ever really said what was in the footage but....well, we're all adults and we can all have a guess. and that's all we could do.... UNTIL NOW.
So, there's a podcast called Richonne Revelry, hosted by some huge fans of TWD. In an episode they released earlier this year about the trailer for The Ones Who Live, one of the hosts mentioned that they met, TWD director Greg Nicotero. Nicotero directed 'Say Yes' and so the podcast host says that she asked Nicotero to tell her about the van scene shoot.
ACCORDING TO HER, Nicotero spilled the beans. Apparently, they just set up the gear in the van with no crew as a closed set and told Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln they could just do their thing, which is pretty standard for scenes like that. BUT, according to the host of this podcast, Nicotero said that when his crew got the footage, it was wayyyyyy too raunchy (she says he told her danai was topless for most of it) and danai and andrew were making out so uh.....intensely that the footage couldn't even be spliced to make it appropriate for the show. Danai and Andrew, apparently, were very shocked they had to reshoot because they were actually really happy with it, but Nicotero insisted they do it again and rein it in so they could have some usable footage. The version of the scene we see in the show is the "tame" reshot version, allegedly.
All of this is alleged, of course. A lot of people joke like it's a sex tape, but honestly nudity guidelines for commercial TV are so strict and specific it doesn't take much for any intimate footage to become unusable. Plus, unsimulated sex is a hugeeee no no in mainstream entertainment. Productions get crucified over it. so if that had happened we absolutely would not have heard about it, let alone hear actors joking about it for years. But anyways, that's the lore! One thing we can all agree on is that Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln are DEDICATED to their craft, by all reports lmao. personally, I'm just glad to hear a behind the scenes story about actors getting carried away in the moment which DOESN'T involve anyone getting hurt or mistreated 🥰

what's the van lore <_<
lolololol
okay so, there's an episode of the walking dead where rick and michonne get down in the back of a van during a supply run. they filmed these scenes on a completely closed set and basically just set up the cameras and told danai gurira and andrew lincoln to do their thing. then the director looked at the footage and apparently andy and danai got carried away so it was completely unusable for basic cable, not least because she was topless for most of it. so they had to reshoot it and behave themselves.
andy and danai proceeded to publicly teehee about how they got in trouble with the van scenes for years afterwards and how they thought the scene was good, meanwhile the director is like "😐😐😐 that footage will never see the light of day."

ok done with the good wish fulfillment purposed walking dead. i liked episode 4 best because danai gurira and andrew lincoln killed it, they have so much chemistry and michonne convincing rick that he's lying to himself was the turning point of the entire show.
chapter 5 was good at the beginning but then it was too much about the commander lady and i could not care less about her she's ruining my romance scenes. she deserved worse for all she did but whatever.
chapter 6 was a good combination of action and romance. the government faction was beaten way too easily but i am not here for that i am here for those two guys and i got them. they reminisced on their good and bad memories, cuddled up, fought together and got their well earned happy ending. took them almost 15 years and half of those had nothing interesting but it finally got done and it was really nice.
i had forgotten twd had little mini specials after the episodes with the directors and actors. i can hear andrew lincoln and danai gurira go on and on about their characters but remembering that this happened for 14 years... i cannot think of a less deserving series. "this gal is sold on her new hellscape community's values because she lost everything" "it's rule of the strongest just like with that guy from season 2" yeah you've been telling that story since season 3 but i guess this type of feature would save us from those "he's dead *looks at the camera* that's what happens when people are killed" scenes.

From Deadline: New AMC CEO Christina Spade, Replaces Interim CEO Matt Blank
AMC Networks Ups Christina Spade To CEO Post; Patrick O’Connell To Take On CFO Role
AMC Networks has appointed COO and CFO Christina Spade as its new CEO, succeeding Matt Blank, who has held the role in an interim capacity since last September.
Patrick O’Connell, previously a senior executive at CBS Corp and Goldman Sachs, has in turn been named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, reporting to Spade.
Blank will remain with AMC Networks until the end of the year in a consultancy role, a spokeswoman confirmed.
AMC Networks operates cable channels such as AMC, plus streaming services AMC+, Sundance Now and Acorn TV. Spade will lead them all from September 9 when she steps into the new role.
Today’s development, which comes as the business reports its second quarter results, marks a fast rise for Spade at AMC Networks. She has been with the New York-headquartered operations since January 2021, where she joined as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and took on a dual role as CFO and COO in November last year.
During that time, she has worked under Blank, who was named interim CEO last September as previous Chief Exec and President Josh Sapan moved to an Executive Vice Chairman position. While the network is known for launching influential cable hits such as Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead and Mad Men, Showtime veteran Blank has focused heavily on building out the streaming business, which currently has an aggregate of 10.8 million subscribers and is expecting to hit 20-25 million in 2025.
The hire comes at a time of change for AMC Networks. The Walking Dead franchise is moving into a new era, with the original series set to end after its next tranche of episodes and several spin-off series launching. Anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead is due to land on August 14, while series featuring fan favorites Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie Green (Lauren Cohan), and Daryl (Norman Reedus) are forthcoming. Newer series include Moonhaven, Dark Winds and This is Going to Hurt and upcoming titles include Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire.
Blank said: “It’s been a pleasure to lead AMC Networks in this interim role, in particular working alongside Chris and the talented team to help develop the company’s direct-to-consumer businesses and strong pipeline of high-quality content. Chris is a strong, versatile leader whom I’ve known and worked closely with for more than 20 years, and I know she’ll bring her strong business and leadership skills, and passion for this company, to her new role.”
AMC Networks Chairman James Dolan said: “I want to thank Matt for his leadership over the past year and for the changes he’s brought about in the company and best positioning us for our further pivot into streaming. I’m delighted that Chris is taking over as our new CEO. She is a proven leader with a long track record driving transformative change in media and entertainment and I am confident she has the expertise and vision to guide AMC Networks to greater success.”
Spade said: “I am honored to assume the role of CEO. I’m a fan of this company in every respect, its content, brands, and most importantly, its people and dynamic and inclusive culture. I’m grateful for the support of Jim, our Board of Directors and Matt, and I look forward to working with the strong team here to unlock the rich opportunities that lie ahead.”
Before AMC Networks, Spade was Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of ViacomCBS and before that held the same role CBS Corp. She also performed similar duties for Showtime Networks, spending a total of 21 years in the business overall.

True Love - Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Something I published on my Wattpad account a few years ago, and now I've reworked and am publishing here.
Imagine :
She - a 23 year old girl who loves freedom and a man who will never be hers.
He - a 47 year old actor with a life that is not quite in order.
What happens when he realizes he has the diamond under his nose that he's been looking for all his life.
Tumblr media
Pov Olivia
- Why did you take such a strange leave of absence? - Magda leaned out from behind the monitor.
- What do you mean? - I furrowed my eyebrows.
- Thursday is your last day at work, why not from Monday? - She was tapping her pen on the desk.
- Because on Friday I have a flight from Cracow to Chicago at 12:05, where I have to wait until 19:35 to fly to San Diego. There I am at 9:47 p.m., then back to my hotel and in the morning at Comic-Con.
- Well, that's logical - she smiled and returned to her seat.
- Yup - I nodded my head.
Friday 11:00 am
I sat quietly in the waiting room, pulled out my phone and turned on Whatsapp and a new message to Jeffrey. ( Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
💬 To Jeff : I am at the airport flying out in an hour, around 10:30 in the evening I should be at the hotel.
I scraped out a message to him and before I could put my phone in my pocket a reply came.
📲 From Jeff : Bubba is not expecting anything, he walks like a nailed dog even I feel a little sorry for him.
💬To Jeff : Just not a word, he wants him to have a surprise, calm him down a bit. I know you can!
📲 From Jeff : As always! I love you horrible woman ! 💙
💬To Jeff : I love you too old man
📲 From Jeff : Pff🤬
I laughed under my breath, put my phone in my pocket and headed to check-in after just a few minutes. Just to sit on the plane at 12. I had some time to sleep, put my headphones in my ears and drifted off. Nice lady stewardess woke me up before landing in Chicago. There I bought American phone card and went for a decent meal.
Pov Jeffrey
I looked over at Norman who was standing on the terrace smoking a cigarette. His thoughts kept running to Olivia, I could see it in his eyes. He was sad or maybe angry that she didn't want to see him. Sometimes it was hard to judge him, he rarely showed his true emotions. But his eyes betrayed him, and very often. I walked out to him and leaned my back against the railing.
- Dude don't worry so much - I looked at him.
- I'm not worried - he muttered under his breath and shrugged his shoulders.
- I can just see how you are not worried - I smiled widely.
- I don't understand why he doesn't want to come. We meet every year, every year we spend three weeks together, and this year she is somehow different.
- Maybe she fell in love and her partner doesn't approve - I lit a cigarette.
- I want her to fall in love, I want her to be happy, but I don't want a partner who forbids us to see each other. Who is this guy?
- Norman - I groaned - maybe he is jealous of you, look at yourself.
- I'm nothing special - he put out his cigarette - I'm going to bed.
I wanted to tell him that she would soon be in the same hotel as us but I promised to keep it to myself. At 10:30 I got a message.
📲Of Oli: I'm at the hotel, room 313.
💬 To Ola : I'm in 5 minutes.
He put the phone in his pocket and I put on my leather jacket.
- Bubba I'm leaving, I'll be back in a while - I shouted towards Norman's bedroom.
But no one answered me, Norman was probably either taking a shower or already asleep. I sighed and went to room 313. I knocked twice on the door and heard muffled footsteps and after a few seconds the door opened. Standing in it was Olivia, her blue hair flowing loosely over her shoulders. She was wearing a loose hoodie and tight jeans.
- Hey - she smiled tiredly.
- Hey baby - I took a step and hugged her tightly.
She cuddled into my body and a tired sigh came out of her mouth. I kissed her head and rubbed her back with my hands.
- Tired ? - I moved away slightly.
- A little - she breathed - Would you like something to drink?
- Maybe a quick drink? - I smiled widely.
- Fine - she nodded and moved towards the bar.
- Honey, you look good - I took off my jacket and threw it on the back of the sofa.
- What do you mean? - She opened the bottle of whisky.
- You just look good even though you still wear those baggy sweatshirts - I watched her movements.
- They're just comfortable and I don't have to bother choosing accessories. And I really don't feel like it lately - she sat down next to me with two glasses.
- Did something happen? - I took the glass from her and furrowed my eyebrows.
- Well, my ex turned out to be a dick and that's all - she shrugged her shoulders.
She leaned her elbows on her knees and drank the liquid from the glass in one gulp. I looked at the profile of her face, she didn't even wrinkle her eyebrows.
- Are you back to drinking? - I leaned towards her.
- Can we not talk about this now? I'm here for the first day and you're already doing my fucking interrogation - she looked at me.
- But promise me we'll come back to this conversation?
- I promise if you don't say anything to Norman - she stared into my eyes.
- I won't say a fucking word to him - I smiled slightly.
- Then we'll go back to this conversation - she nodded - how is he?
- He sulks like a teenager - I laughed.
- He hasn't replied to any of my messages, he's probably angry with me.
- I bet that when he sees you tomorrow all his anger will be gone - I kissed her on the temple - you know how he is when something doesn't go his way. And he really missed you and he's sorry.
Olivia took a breath and sank deeper into the couch.
- Hey - I poked her - don't pout yet you know that if you make puppy dog eyes he is able to forgive everything.
- I hope so - she smiled uncertainly.
- You know that if you make puppy dog eyes, he will be able to forgive everything - she smiled uncertainly - After all, he loves you - I poked her - and he can't stay mad at you for too long.
Olivia looked at me and I saw a blush on her cheeks. She set her glass down on the coffee table and snuggled into my side.
- I missed you, old man -  she whispered.
- I missed you too girl - I put my arm around her.
Her head was resting under my chin, Olivia may not look like a woman we were used to. She wasn't skinny, she wasn't tall but her character made up for all her flaws. A person stops noticing her larger body stature after getting to know her. But she had one flaw, she was morbidly shy and that is why many people abandoned her. I got close to her only last year and only then I realized how big heart she has. And I want to keep her close because it's really worth it. I glanced at her, her eyes were closed and her breathing was steady. As she fell asleep, I gently pushed her away from me. I set the glass down and took her hands in mine wedding style. I headed to the bedroom, planted her on the bed holding her with my hands. I took off her sweatshirt, socks and pants, laid her on the bed and covered her with blankets.
- Sleep dear - I kissed her forehead and left her room.
I closed the door behind me and went to my room.
Pov Olivia
When I awoke to the sound of the alarm clock. I wiped my face with my hands and looked around the room. I was lying in bed in the bedroom of my rented apartment. I hit the phone and the alarm finally went off. I groaned wiping my face with my palms, I must have been drowsy last night. I threw my legs off the bed and pulled hard. I picked my phone up off the ground and opened a new message from Jeff.
📲 From Jeff : Remember that at 3 in the afternoon is our show, remember not to be late lazy !
I locked my device and shook my head. This man was impossible but that's what I loved him for. For the fact that he could listen, that he had more experience in life and could share it. He was different than Norman but after all, no two people are alike. Grabbed my phone and opened a new message to Jeff.
💬To Jeff : I hope your old bones didn't suffer when you carried me to bed.💙 Thank you, I'm not late, I'm never late.
I put my phone down on the bedside table, grabbed my clothes and headed to the shower. I had to prepare myself properly to greet my long lost friend.
Tumblr media
I looked at myself in the mirror. I was always careful about what I wore, I had to mask my excess weight somehow. I combed my hair and dried it into a bun.
Tumblr media
Just a quick breakfast and I was ready to go. I took an Uber and after just a few minutes I found myself in front of the San Diego Convention Center. Thanks to Jeffrey's kindness I had VIP ticket so I could enter everywhere. Therefore, I went to the hall out of turn, hung around my neck badge with name and level of availability. The first thing that caught my eye was the amount of people dressed up. Cosplay was ubiquitous here, I slipped my glasses over my hair and admired their creators. People were really imaginative and I stopped at one or three stalls to buy some interesting things. Eventually I got to the place where The Walking Dead actors were, I kept my distance so none of them would recognize me. No one knew I was here, except Jeffrey of course. I watched Norman interact with the fans, his face lit up with a smile from ear to ear. He was snapping pictures with them, signing T-shirts and many other things. I smiled to myself, I loved how open he was with his fans. I took a breather and wandered around the neighborhood and at 2:30 I was already sitting in my seat in the hall where the conference was to be held.
📲Of Jeff : are you ?
💬Do Jeff : Third row, fourth seat from the left. From the middle aisle.
📲From Jeff : Divine, he wants to see Bubba's face.
I smiled under my breath, at exactly three o'clock the host started her show. She was smiling all the time under her breath, my hands started sweating strangely, I rubbed them on my pants. The first to enter was the director, then Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and finally Norman Reedus, followed of course by the rest of the crew. I had the impression that Jeffrey immediately sought me out with his eyes. He smiled broadly and nodded slightly. I smiled back and also nodded slightly. Jeffrey looked up at me every now and then smiling. Halfway through the performance Jeffrey poked Lincoln and whispered something in his ear. Andrew lifted his head and looked around the front rows and a wide grin appeared on his lips from ear to ear. Lincoln slaps Norman hard on the shoulder, the man crouches down and mutters something under his breath. Andrew leans into his ear and whispers something. And his body tense up, he slides his hat down over his face and shifts his gaze around the audience. His eyes stopped on me, smiling broadly. Eventually, he smiled too.
Tumblr media
Andrew watched his friend's reaction, smiling slightly. Norman pulled out his phone, and moments later mine vibrated in his pocket.
📲Of Norm : I'm gonna strangle you 🎈

Penguin Bloom, a new Netflix film starring The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln, explores the tumultuous journey many disabled people take to embracing their disability. And, yet again, filmmakers have effectively erased disabled people from the narrative.
Penguin Bloom tells the story of Sam Bloom, who becomes a paralysed wheelchair user after a fall. Alongside her husband and children, she takes solace in caring for an injured magpie, which the children name Penguin.
The film, based on a true story written by Cameron Bloom and Bradley Trevor Greive, could have spotlighted the real tragedy, beauty and love present throughout the journey of embracing a disability. However, Naomi Watts stars as Sam, yet another non-disabled actor stealing a role from a disabled actor, joining countless others in prioritising the casting of big-name actors over authenticity.
By casting a non-disabled actor in the role, the film becomes inspiration porn for the non-disabled masses to feel good about themselves.
Inspiration porn – a term coined by disability activist Stella Young in 2012 – is a lot less fun than it sounds. In short, it is the depiction of disabled people as inspirational on the basis of their disability. Although this may not seem like a problem to some, the portrayal of disabled people as tools of inspiration strips them of their humanity and encourages non-disabled people to infantilise, patronise and objectify disabled folk in real life.
Recently, Sia committed this casting sin in her film Music (2021) which has since been torn to shreds by the autistic community, but this is far from the only example. Actors like Daniel Day-Lewis and Eddie Redmayne have won Oscars for "cripping up" in My Left Foot (1989) and The Theory of Everything (2014) respectively and Jake Gyllenhaal and Andrew Garfield won acclaim for performances in Stronger (2017) and Breathe (2017), so it's not particularly shocking that actors flock to these roles.
Non-disabled actors "cripping up" ensures awards buzz for the gold gongs, and is likely a factor in why conversations around disability representation are yet to break into the larger cultural zeitgeist.
The trend of erasing disabled actors has gone on for decades with little sign of the industry acknowledging the damage it does. Penguin Bloom's imminent release proves that the film world remains uninterested in correcting past mistakes by prioritising authentic representations of the disabled community.
Regardless of how good the intentions are behind these films, casting producers undermine their potential by erasing the disabled people who are the foundation of these narratives. It does not matter if an actor spends months prepping for a role to sympathise with the disabled experience, the film will damage the disabled community because disabled people have been prevented from telling their own stories.
It is especially important for non-disabled actors to step back from these roles because they are extremely limited. Only approximately 2.7% of characters with speaking roles are disabled, in comparison to a global population of one billion disabled people.
By casting non-disabled actors in disabled roles, which are also rarely written or directed by disabled people, filmmakers guarantee that the depiction will be at best limited and at worst reduced to a caricature created by someone lacking a genuine understanding of disability.
The usual excuse for casting non-disabled actors in roles like that of Sam Bloom is that the character is depicted before and after becoming disabled. There is no denying that capturing the transition from non-disabled to disabled would be more complicated if the actor were a wheelchair user. Yet that is no excuse for ignorant casting.
After all, disabled actors who can walk but also need to use a wheelchair do exist (like (Years and Years' Ruth Madeley or Run's Kiera Allen to name two) and could be cast in Naomi Watt's role and given audiences an authentic portrayal of disability.
Non-disabled people – who are accustomed to seeing their experiences depicted on screen – often dismiss arguments against casting non-disabled people in disabled roles by flippantly stating that it's just acting.
It is not just acting when non-disabled actors are stealing roles that are a rarity. It is not just acting when a neurotypical actor mimics the behaviours of a neurodivergent person. It is not just acting when a film studio is willing to spend money making actors look disabled but not on making their sets accessible for disabled actors.
It is ableism.
Some filmmakers have contributed positively to disabled representation, like in Run and Christmas Ever After, (not to mention documentaries Rising Phoenix and Crip Camp) but it is not enough. The old adage that any press is good press is false when it comes to the representation of marginalised communities on screen.
Until filmmakers actively include disabled performers, writers and directors, inspiration porn will prevail and the disabled community will languish without true depictions of their lives. We have no doubt that Naomi Watts will deliver a strong performance in Penguin Bloom because she is a quality actor, but this is not a question of talent, it is about whether she should be there in the first place.
The answer is simple: no, she should not. Instead of getting out of the way for a disabled actor, ignorance has prevailed and Penguin Bloom will join an overflowing archive of disabled misrepresentation.

Can we please have some kind of fic that includes that infamous “so what’s it like laying in bed with Andrew Lincoln?” Question and Danai and YNB’s reaction. If I wasn’t convinced before (which I was), that did it. Woo!
The Question
“So what’s it like laying in bed with Andrew Lincoln? Cause I’d love to do that myself.” The question echoed amongst the sea of fans in the dark convention hall. Cameras flashed all around and suddenly the stage lights sweltered from beneath the actress’ nearly floor length hot pink trench coat.
The usually contained Danai panicked and belted out a fabricated laugh. The Q&A host, Yvette Nicole Brown threw her chin back in disbelief of the bold question. Danai regretted allowing the question to blindside her. To get into the intimate details of her and her man on set or to deflect the question, these were the options swarming around her brain as she nervously drummed her finger tips against her microphone stem.
Danai and Yvette’s eyes met silently. Yvette’s eyebrows furrowed in concern and she reached out to Danai’s knee to gauge how she wanted to react. If she wanted to react. If not, she was ready to deflect and come in and save her friend.
Andy and Danai had only in the past couple months made their relationship public to those closest to them. And even then, there was no official announcement, people were able to infer from their relaxed displays of affection around set and outside of working hours.
Unsure of Danai’s mood, Yvette asked, “Is this- wait a minute . . . you okay?
Slightly annoyed by the seriousness Yvette was bringing to the moment, Danai pressed for Yvette to stop with her coddling. “YNB, YNB YNB.”
Yvette caught on and sat back in her chair. “Let me stop, she’ll go.”
Danai laughs hysterically. “I can’t talk about that.” Yvette chuckles, tickled that she knows a secret that none of the hundreds of people in the crowd know. Danai continues, “I don’t know, that’s Michonne, not Danai.” Danai winks and points at the awaiting fan, the crowd instinctually snickered at Danai’s cleverness.
“That’s why I’m here,” the fan returned.
“I’m sure you are,” Danai mumbled in almost inaudibly as she turned her eyes towards the next fan.
As the initial fan does not move away from the microphone, Yvette is taken aback once again. “Oh, she’s trying to get an answer,” and begins nervously fingering through her index cards, waiting for Danai’s response.”
Exasperated, yet flustered, Danai squeals, “I just told you I’m speaking for Danai right now, Michonne is in Alexandria.” A giant grin masking her cheeks.
Yvette sings, “Probably in bed right now, nice try.”
----
“You know the craziest question I got today?” Danai’s cheeks began to swell as the moment replayed in her head.
“No, what was it?” Andy smirked as his fork left the salad on his plate to meet his lips.
Danai smiled down into her glass of wine, “I got asked, ‘So what’s it like laying in bed with Andrew Lincoln?’”
Andy paused, propping his left elbow onto the table, his fingers toying with his chin. With an air of disbelief, he slightly shook his head and replied “No you didn’t.”
Danai still looking into the wine glass but more animated, her eyebrows as high as they could reach as she urged on, “Andy… I’m telling you I did. And this woman even had the audacity to add, ‘Cause I’d love to do that myself.” Danai met Andy’s eyes in amusement.
Andy’s mouth was now fully covered by his hand, yet the crinkles at his eyes were a dead giveaway that he found this comical. Andy burst into a guffaw. Danai experienced the brunt of her embarrassment in the packed auditorium earlier. That was a major contrast to the dimly lit restaurant they were sitting in now. The chatter of conversations could be heard from the main dining area, but Andy and Danai were given privacy by the curtained section in the back.
“You panicked didn’t you.” Andy smiled as he caressed her hand from across the table.
“I wouldn’t say panic Andy, but the question was unexpected, especially so early into the Q&A. But wait!” Danai’s volume increased with excitement, she repeatedly tapped Andy’s hand. “Wait! Yvette was all like ‘you okay, you wanna answer?’”, Danai mimicked in a mothering voice.
Andy snickered, “That sounds like her. You know she only did that because as I said before, you panic when someone asks about us.”
“I do not,” Danai whined.
“You do.” Andy nodded lightly as he continued eating.
Danai dramatically sighed, “This is new for me. Not only are you famous, but with all the Black Panther frenzy I’m getting more recognition and people are constantly in my business. Before people would’ve cared less about my whereabouts. The questions were more about the work. Now people want to know what type of socks I’m wearing on set. It’s quite ridiculous. I mean I get it, but goodness. I thought Walking Dead was big but this is a whole new level of pandemonium.” Her head swirled, thinking back to the barrage of trivial questions she received during interviews as of late.
Andy nodded, knowing exactly what she meant. “Everyone wants a piece of Danai.” He moved his hand to casually caress her thigh underneath the table. “Directors, Writers, Fans . . . Do you understand now why I try to seize the moments I’m with you? Whether there’s people around us or not.” Flattered, Danai tilted her head with adoration in her eyes. “Danai, if I waited for the small moments we had, just you and I, I would rarely get any time with you.” Before she could interrupt he continued, “It’s the truth. I don’t blame you for it. I’m happy to see all this success coming your way. You are a marvelous actress and playwright. You are receiving the accolades you deserve.”
If it weren’t for the blush applied to her cheeks, they would’ve shaded themselves a plum hue. “Thank you baby,” she whispered, her anxious thoughts falling onto the soft pillow of his reassuring words.
Andy looked into her eyes. “Our circumstance right now is not the most pleasurable, so I understand your reservations. But sometimes, I need you to relax darling.”
Danai lowered her shoulders with a deep sigh. “You’re right.”
