Google is going to start scraping all of their platforms to use for AI training. So, here are some alternatives for common Google tools!
Google Chrome -> Firefox
If you’re on tumblr, you’ve probably already been told this a thousand times. But FireFox is an open-source browser which is safe, fast and secure. Basically all other browsers are Chrome reskins. Try Firefox Profilemaker, Arkenfox and Librewolf! Alternatively, vanilla Firefox is alright, but get Ublock Origin, turn off pocket, and get Tabliss.
Google Search -> DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo very rarely tracks or stores your browsing data (though they have only been known to sell this info to Microsoft). Don’t use their browser; only their search engine. Domain visits in their browser get shared. Alternatively, you can also use Ecosia, which is a safe search engine that uses its income to plant trees! 🌲
Google Reverse Image Search -> Tineye
Tineye uses image identification tech rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks to find you the source of your image!
Gmail -> ProtonMail
All data stored on ProtonMail is encrypted, and it boasts self-destructing emails, text search, and a commitment to user privacy. Tutanota is also a good alternative!
Google Docs -> LibreOffice
LibreOffice is free and open-source software, which includes functions like writing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, formula editing and more.
Google Translate -> DeepL
DeepL is notable for its accuracy of translation, and is much better that Google Translate in this regard. It does cost money for unlimited usage, but it will let you translate 500,000 characters per month for free. If this is a dealbreaker, consider checking out the iTranslate app.
Google Forms -> ClickUp
ClickUp comes with a built-in form view, and also has a documents feature, which could make it a good option to take out two birds with one stone.
Google Drive -> Mega
Mega offers a better encryption method than Google Drive, which means it’s more secure.
YouTube -> PeerTube
YouTube is the most difficult to account for, because it has a functional monopoly on long-form video-sharing. That being said, PeerTube is open-source and decentralized. The Internet Archive also has a video section!
However, if you still want access to YouTube’s library, check out NewPipe and LibreTube! NewPipe scrapes YouTube’s API so you can watch YouTube videos without Google collecting your info. LibreTube does the same thing, but instead of using YouTube servers, it uses piped servers, so Google doesn’t even get your IP address. Both of these are free, don’t require sign-ins, and are open source!
Please feel free to drop your favorite alternatives to Google-owned products, too! And, if this topic interests you, consider checking out Glaze as well! It alters your artwork and photos so that it’s more difficult to use to train AI with! ⭐️

You know, when this whole AI art, deepfakes and other shit began, I was scared that the responsibility of convincing people that it can and will be used unethically would fall on the shoulders of small artists who would not be taken seriously. I expected change in the art world to be a slow, creeping transition into inevitable demise.
What I did not expect was hollywood studio execs doing that job for us by being so cartoonishly evil, impatient and releasing statements like "We're gonna starve you until you agree to work with us lol" and "We're gonna take your likeness and use it forever. You will be paid with jack and shit."
I also did not expect AI bros doing the same job for us by harassing a voice actor off of twitter.

If you care about creatives and artists at all, do not allow AI to take away their jobs.
Don't support AI art. Don't support AI writing. Don't support music made with AI. Don't support movies using AI. Don't support any AI that tries to replace real life people putting their heart and soul into their work and art.

In case this wasn’t clear; I will not interact with your account if you share or promote AI generated images, texts or voices. The art and voice acting industry is currently hit hard by this and I will not support AI that can do nothing but steal from what humans have created.
Pick up a pen and learn to draw.
Open a document and start to write.
Start a recording program and talk.
Art is emotion. Art is for humans from humans.

people who use chatGPT for ANYTHING are a) contributing to the elimination of human art and writing and b) fucking lazy
“oh it helps me come up with ideas uwu-” GET FUCKED
Is it fun to engage your brain to think? Sometimes no. Is it fun to do “boring” parts of assignments? Also no. But come ON, if my ADHD ass can write research papers without ChatGPT then so can you
Dumb cunts.

I miss being afraid of ai because we thought it was going to wipe out humanity, murder ai was so much better than the art thieving dead human puppet ai we deal with now, yeah they killed you and waged war on humanity, but they were upfront about it, they didn't pretend this was innovation, they didn't steal your fics and art and called it theirs, they didn't ghoulishly bring long dead actors back for profit, their deal was "we don't like humanity and believe it needs to be wiped out"
I can roll with that, fair enough killer machine, humans do suck, I'll meet you outside with a bat and a shotgun, let's fucking go, fight to the death winner take all, bring it on, man vs machine

I am convinced that people who use ai are either ignorant of the way it exploits people or just plain assholes. A well-known voice actor got bullied off Twitter for asking that an ai cover using her voice without her consent be taken down. And I’ll be fair, it seems the person who posted it originally did take it down, but people were PISSED that they weren’t able to enjoy this woman’s voice being stolen and manipulated without her knowledge, so they harassed her and reuploaded the video multiple times.
Do people not see what a massive privacy violation is it to have a machine copy someone’s voice and make it sound like they said or sang things they never did? This technology allows deepfakes to ruin lives. It poses the risk of shitty people attempting to steal a voice actor’s voice and use it in official content because it’s “good enough” and they don’t have to pay anyone.
It is exploitive and wrong and bad. There is a massive moral failing here. I wish all ai bros a very get fucked, and all ai companies that built models that can only function by exploiting people a very go bankrupt.

Hate it that people are so vocally against AI art and then create, upload and listen to AI covers.

Kids these days and using their AI voices making people sing songs they’ve never sung before. Back in my day, we ripped audio clips from shows and pieced them into utaloid software to make anime characters sing Happy Synthesizer. Uphill! In the snow! Both ways!

Shitty movies with shitty plots and shitty voice acting still actually have some effort in them (even if they're knock-offs), often some are so bad that they're good and give people some laughs. Now I just saw someone mention a bad movie made by AI and that makes me sad and pissed off. Like where would be the cringe human element? The creative time saving methods that may ultimately look really bad but still give the movie a unique look? (Don't you dare say being generated by AI is unique in itself, it may look "new" right now but its gonna get old real soon and start looking pretty much the same.)
Knowing that most bad movies in the future may just be made by AI just makes me sad because the reason I like to watch shitty movies is just to see what human creativity and ideas, especially the "bad" ones, entail. The mistakes, the over used tropes or straight up off the rails plots, the bad animations and visual effects and cringey voice acting. I ate that shit up.
Like velocipastor??? COME ON
I'm afraid that as time goes on, more and more art will become this randomized yet homogenous glob, the opposite of what I (and hopefully most people) want to see.

Tbh I personally believe that if they ever develop an ai with enough emotional intelligence and complexity to create literally anything worth consuming, that AI will automatically be sentient enough to tell you to fuck off and create your own shit before it goes off to hang out with Hatsune Miku or fuck around with nuke codes or something.

People who go on about how bad ai art is and then turn around and uplift & support ai audios/singing, especially of real singers and voice actors, are fucking weirdos and massive hypocrites <3

I always knew we'd have to fight AI someday but never thought it would in defense of art.
