Day 93
Ship: Nepeta x Aradia
Ship Song: 'Night Time' by The Birthday Massacre
'She breaks my heart and blurs my eyes / Her love is never easy / A magic made for tragic minds / And thinking back I should have known / That she could see right through me / And I would end up on my own'
Why was Nepeta alright with what Equius did to Aradia?
My conclusion to this was that she didn't know about him programming her to love him. To me, in canon, Nepeta naively trusted her moiral and accepted the relationship as being mutual.
But what if she had found out the truth?
I think this is especially interesting for putting Nepeta's relationship with Equius versus with her morals and ideals about romance.
Can it really be called a redrom if Aradia is stuck by obligation of her body? As a heart player, I can imagine this bothering Nepeta a lot.
So the way I picture this ship happening is this: Equius gets very touchy about who talks to Aradia. He doesn't want what he did to be revealed, but he trusts Nepeta enough to me around Aradia even without him. Through a conversation with her about her feelings for Equius, Nepeta picks up based on Aradia's answers, that this was forced. And now Nepeta is put into this intensely uncomfortable situation.
She says she'll demand Equius revert her back, that she'll get help from others if she needs to, but Aradia is full of apathy and tells her it's unnecessary. What's done is a part of the unchangeable canon, so it's best to leave it be.
As Equius's moiral and the only one with the truth, Nepeta feels incredibly guilty. So, to combat it, for the session's duration, Nepeta is glued to her metal hip. She figures that, at the very least, she should be determined to get any sort of emotion back in Aradia anyway.
Aradia realizes that she's doomed her timeline by Nepeta's kindness, so she knows she is destined to be called and sacrificed for the main timeline. Still, with the knowledge, she figures whatever activities she lets Nepeta indulge in with her should be okay. And it, mutely, works.
Aradiabot can feel *something.* (Heart player babyy) Nothing as intense as when she was alive, but it's still surreal to the robotic-shelled ghost, and enough to make her yearn for more. This Aradia has had someone successfully get her to care for something sooner; she is endeared to Nepeta. Aradia is called, but before she goes, she lets Nepeta know that she is grateful for her friendship and care. Nepeta is devastated; she falls to a depression and eventually dies as is her fate.
In the bubbles, someone is waiting for her, though. An excited Aradia, ready to whisk her away and repay her for everything with drean bubble adventures.
